I'm on both discord though I don't have full access to 710.
There are always apprehensions about changes but 1. 76 is dying. We don't have enough active players to be much of a problem and I expect we will have even fewer in the coming weeks.
2. From the sounds of it y'all didn't even have all your territories claimed and need a merge as well.
I would have really liked to play with several of the players I knew or got to know since it was first announced and tbh this feels like scopley just kicking all four servers in the nuts and then spitting on us.

A lot of players have either started, already or are talking about quitting on 76.

That's the thing, S710's pop is actually very healthy. We even have fights over TC still. There was mainly one small group who very vocally wanted a merge (especially those who were already familiar with S76), but the greater majority didn't. In particular the lower/mid ops players.

I still agree S76 needs one. S710 is actually very active with a lot of people on it who would have been negatively impacted. It was just a bad pairing. STFC could have gone with say, S80 who is down to 1600 total accounts (similar to s76) and is almost identical in age.

That’s what this merge would have done. Yeah we have a bunch in G6+ but also have a bunch below that. Players tend to group up and consolidate into larger alliances around merges or directly after because smaller alliances get steam rolled. Would have given more choices on where and who to play with as far as alliances go.

I spoke a bit to @finite mural about my G5 BattlePass and various events still reflecting G4 max ore rewards while all but that is updating per Ops. This is becoming an issue as I'm losing rewards as the days continue and I sent a ticket to Scopely specifically stating after the request that the in game support will not allow a SS for verification and resets back to starter screen when you attempt an upload.. and I assume I got a Bot cause I finally got a reply a week later asking for a SS I said I couldn't provide. 2 days later and still no response after initial response. Why ask a question that an answer was already given? Would be happy to provide the SS if it allowed it. However, I'm not sure if anyone knows this but the game has a few bugs 😉🤣

Well, if indeed we were colateral and there was no direct resistance from our servers, then our merge can still be decided on in the next round of merges. I represent the 2nd alliance in 114, and in the posts above there were representatives from 402 too saying the same. Honestly, our servers made something great together expecting the merge despite the delayed first notification, so it feels a pity to cancel something that everyone wants as colateral for completely different servers.

the main point is: why does g7 only get a single pull, when g6 can do single, double and triple with the same loot? a 70 and a 71 have basically the same ships and abilities available to them and yeah, I know that low early generation tends to be harder than staying on top of previous one, but in this particular case it creates a gap where ops 70 players can benefit more from the loop by staying g6, then g7 players do dispite having to endure all the other g7 challenges. and in the end, scopely wants every player to move forward, not camp 🙂

Hi, I stopped playing because it's a disgrace that you boast so much about the game and yet you can't even include a universal translator like they have in the Star Trek movies and TV shows. Many of my friends quit for this reason. All you care about is raising the prices of the packs and making more money. It's one of the few games that still doesn't have a damn translator and doesn't let you travel to other worlds if you're at a high level.

Too much focus is on constantly introducing new ships and refinary content.
From a player perspective of suggestions that might help promote gameplay pvp wise:

1. Territory desperately needs to get an updated in the form of not just wiping every Territory an Alliance holds but services a Territory holds should also be different/randomised everytime there is a Territory reset.
2. If the Current Territory Services do not get an update to not fall behind current player level suggest a second Territory should be created or add on more Territorys to the current fuctioning Territory.

imo Territory Capture should primarily be an additional challenging activity, but with moderate rewards. if the rewards were too high (eg insane pvp buffs), it would disrupt the balance too much. we dont need any more territories, most current server populations simply dont need them.
i agree that randomising the services would breathe new life into Territory Capture, but what id like to see most is an expansion of the scoring mechanics to potentially counteract the power imbalance, so that even small but highly active alliances get a chance to participate

Why does the Excelsior Task aways require hostiles that exceed it's Warp Range?

I upgrade the warp drive, still cant reach the system. I upgrade the ship and hostile requirement goes up by two lvls!!! Why???

The Search and Destroy tasks are based on ship tier, so its natural that when you upgrade the ship it increases the hostiles level/system distance. What is your FC line-up and ranks/levels/skills at for instance? Ships and tasks like this are set my what the developers think you should be at as a player, not just the ship tier/level. FC Kirk, for example increases warp range, but its an On Duty skill. I personally have never had this issue, so it seems its more likely you may be rushing it a bit.

Please don't take my comment as any criticism. I had a similar problem, but with power. I got the Excelsior and upgraded her as high as I could..... then boom. Couldnt take out one. Took me aa bit to catch up.... but sometimes you can incidentally hit a wall... whether it by upgrading too quickly.. or by design. It may take some time, but Id recommend not upgrading her any further and checking out other options that can extend your warp range for now. Officesr likes Scotty, Grush, and such. I think Ex-borg has some favors that help as well. Research and buildings the provide it was well

I ran into this issue too. But if you don't have any of the research completed you need to go do the first one. It increases the excelsior warp range enough to reach the system even at lv2 of the node I believe

There you go!!! Like I said..... I learned the hard way... BEFORE you upgrade anything. Specialty Ships, Ops-Level, etc... check EVERYTHING. Research, associated buildings, favors, buffs, etc. I just upgraded to Ops 68, and before I did that I made sure I had completed all applicable research, buildings, etc.... and went through every loop and went to the next-highest hostile to see if I could beat them... then I hit the button and hope Scopley doesn't pull a fast one😉

I really don’t want to search say Spock’s club for specific research items and locations ( think valor, dolamide etc ) not to mention even trying to figure out how many more of whatever I actually need to finish. Honestly research is it’s kind insane in this game ( just the sheer amount ). We should have a search function for this. Not being able to see where you are at in say the trans refinery on artifacts is just super annoying. Why not just list them similar to officers? It’s like the game is designed to frustrate, cross reference, take notes and spend more time than should be required to see where you are at. Kinda getting tired of this type of extra “work”.

Even on its best days (and this year has had very few "best" days) the slow response times of this game make pvp a chore rather than fun. This worst example of this is arenas, but you can see it in every other instance. You expect people to play a game requiring quick reactions in pvp while essentially saddling us with 10k pings

obviously we're way too deep into this now for anything meaningful to be done to address that, but maybe keep it in mind for your next cash grab: pvp should suit the platform's ability to support it

The next worst example (because let’s face it, Arenas are always obscenely laggy), is in wave defense. Ships either stop after moving just a little bit, requiring you to hit attack again, or the lag just makes it so you’re waiting for the attack box to appear for so long that the ship has already reached the center entity. If you try and use Kir-shara, it breaks half the time, and when it does work it takes 5 seconds to recalculate the intercept path with its next ship anyway, making wave defense feel so sluggish it’s either unplayable or just not fun to play. So what does Scopely do? They make a new arc that requires you to play wave defenses, but now with an absurd amount of ships per wave, and they’ve made them extremely difficult for their power level, and made it so that the entire arc is based on needing to beat these stupid new waves. And for those that are low G6, or even mid to late G6, but not willing to shell out hundreds of bucks right away on the new building, don’t even bother, you’re not getting past these things. But have fun with this new arc!

If you base it on when those arcs came out, Yes! It started small, but we are 6 years down the line now, 6 years of small steps has turned into the same drop as a 200ft cliff edge.

The game started as a balanced building wargame, with balanced factions, crews, zones.

Most of the additions, were done without a thought on what the game was. It was Star Trek set in the Kirk era. I didnt want any TNG or later to be added to this game, any of the arcs where they added new features could have been done within the framework of the universe of the kirk era, but they added all the series for the memberberries. Then they let cbs force them into adding all the new crappy series that noone watched into this game too,

Where is the game faction balance, everything is federation , all the ships are federation, all the crews are series crews… hence federation, where are the romulan or klingon heros or smaller side factions that existed in the kirk era.

Why is the game full of borg, why did we get crappy academy…..noone watched it, it was bad, and its already cancelled.

What i think, as a player of this game, is that digit are constantly being pushed by scopely for MORE, MORE and they dont have the ability to deliver creative ideas.

When scopely do shut this down, it wont just be us losing this game, digit are gonna get shut down too, scopely dont care about anything except improving they monthly cash intake every month. And once it drops too low, everyone gets cut…..

G1->G5 is entirely playable FTP and even lower->mid G6. Now, if you're only focusing ops progression and not working on your officers/artifacts/research/ships then yes the game is going to become more difficult sooner, because this game is much more about having a balanced account than focusing just a single aspect of the game.

The only arc that you can't engage in right now is the academy loop if you're 68+ because the loop is poorly designed.

The reason for this is that you have to kill huge number of lvl 62 hostiles at 68+ to pull the building materials (because without the building, you can't hit higher hostiles), and you can't make the arc easier without advancing your building, hence a catch-22 situation.

At Ops 67, without spending on the arc, I'm able to kill 40 x 62 hostiles per run & with some loot officers this gives me 4k loot (meaning i need to do 1.5 runs/day to pull my chest) - and as a FTP player, I believe that's manageable.

There is a very easy fix for this, by giving a drip of building materials each day (like every othe arc) - players are used to having to wait 100 days to fully engage, and this would resolve the current arc paralysis 68+ players have.

it's literally not doable unless you've camped 20-25 for really long and you've got maybe a maxed janeway and doc from events. any new 26 player is not gonna be doing the loop at all. I can kill 1 hostile per run and maybe 2 if I maxed the ship level. that's 239 hostiles to get a single pull of the reliant with 1 hostile a trip and 140 hostiles with 2 hostiles a trip(if possible), pair that with 5 minute warp times it's literally about 21 hours to get a single pull of the reliant(12hrs if its 2 hostiles per trip, how is that any better :/). genuinely how in the world are new 26 players supposed to even start this loop. keep in mind that I'm in a alliance with lvl 31 emerald chain, there r people out there in alliances with a much lower emerald chain than me/aren't even in an emerald chain. they'll do worse than me if building levels/research/syndicate is the same. scopely really needs to add it into the ferengi event store and just make the reliant Bps disappear in the event store if a player has built the reliant using the ferengi store

edit: the win was literally with using the paid picard(i bought a 5 dollar pack, sue me), i tested with pikeMC and it basically isnt gonna be beating the ship until maybe lvl 45 mayflower(ill test again in the future if i bother). so basically its get picard or just die to the hostile till you get maybe a 32 rare/34 epic and even if you win its back to the same problem of 1 hostile per trip

From a game design standpoint, things really don't add up. So many half baked features or design elements and dead content.

They clearly did have a plan (successful or no) up to a certain point.

But the game as it exists now must bear so little resemblance to the original design documents.

It's very much, create the problem and sell the solution mobile gacha design from 10-15 years ago.

They painted themselves into a corner long ago and now really they are just trying to heavily monetize for as long as the game has left. There won't be any make gameplay updates or changes forthcoming.

And it's a shame since there are a good number of old MMO games that have done a pretty solid job keeping up with modernizing and limiting tech debt.

But things like how they expected mining and territory defense and general gameplay (they have officers are primes solely for node defense!) to be are so far removed from how the game is actually played.

RoE is just as much a function of the game design getting away from them as it is any sort of organic emergent gameplay.

This isn't EVE or Albion where you can just set initial conditions and the sandbox will sandbox. There is no sandbox.

Ok now that you people at Scopely have listened to your players (finally) on the verrrrry unpopular changes to the incursion scoring and have restored the usual scoring methodology, now its time to actually FIX the incursion scene as a whole...Your devs of all people should know this is a 24 hour a day game!!!!
By limiting it to 12 hours you are cutting out entire swaths of the player base, and (in economic terms) shooting yourselves in the foot!
We all know those who spend on the game support the playing of those who are unable to... but many on my server have witheld the funds they would normally use for incursions due to the drastic changes out of the blue. The changes altered the fundamental play of the game in instant A and B cut a good 1/3 of the Entire participation base due to your extremely unpopular 12 hour period, in a 24 hour game. Please listen to your players!!!!
None of us it seems liked either change n I see the reaction from the rank n file made you reverse course immediatly! Now do the decent thing for your player base n return the other part of incursions that you Nerfed and restore the 24 hour time period so my players can all participate equally no matter their work and life schedules... Basically, after an obvious disastrous feedback of an unwanted and uninspired modification infinite incursions are reverted back to the old scoring.
Why don't you ask the players what they want and what in the game should be changed? It's shouting from the roof tops that neither the developers nor the game management have any clue how to develop this game further successfully, only recycle old content with some fresh paint on it and even more money milking. The only gleam of hope is reverting an absolute disappointment with a slightly less disappointing recent situation.

What you should do instead is pretty simple: Scoring should be based on the time players have their station in contested system, where a successful attack on the station sends it back into a <25 system. Extra goals can be implemented, such as conquering all G4,G5,G6... Klingon space or similar.

More ops levels are not progress, they just make your game harder. everything else you do besides higher ops level is progress. Thinking that ops levels permitting higher tier specialty ships or new faction ships...this is a carrot permanently dangling just out of reach. stay at a level and work on your FT/CT, favors, officers, artifacts etc. You'll get better results if you measure your progress by how strong you are for your level rather than by your ops level. There's a more enjoyable and playable game waiting for you if you can be more patient.

Since this issue is reflected in rewards throughout the entire game, you would be well advised to dedicate your time to fixing this. Yesterday we lost 3 of quite active and good players in g7/g6. Game took the downhill slide and it's not a 2nd job now, it requires to be your main job so you can do something. OR ofcourse spend tons of money 🙂 The scale of monetization in the game became overwhelming.
For me personally I just lost the interest in it, i lost the joy of playing with friends (who are less and less ingame). Before I couldnt wait for incursions and now i just couldnt care less about it. Seeing how laggy raiding goes.. It's a shame. I love this game, but after 6 years, it is no longer fun. Because of this game, I have watched as many of the TV series I could find, for free, on Streaming services. TNG, Voyager, Enterprise, Discovery, SNW, sadly all now behind paywalls. I watched TOS on TV in the 70's. In stfc as a f2p player, I would get all the ships, grinding for weeks to get Voyager and the Borg Cube, and love being able to get crew members from all the different series. Now, I see the Star Trek Academy start screen, but it bears no relavence to the arc events or the content. Just the same rotating content, Arc after Arc. Events, designed to pressure players to level up. No challenge, no content matching the arc, no events for all alliance players, which is polarising alliance participation. I would loved to see the game return to the hayday of a few years ago. But sadly, the game trajectory seems clear. RIP STFC. 💔

Well I suspect that these are massively clustered systems all taking to back end database servers on yet other systems. Millions of lines of code. Not only using ethernet networks but fibre channel backend storage.. This is not just hard. It is highly complex and when things fail trigging them down is very challenging. Trust me on this I have faced these kinds of problems. Often the trick is not "fixing" the problem but even tracking down what went wrong. Is it the databases? the client code? server code? network or router issues?

This is not at all anything like your laptop.. not even close. They will fix it.. just takes time.

My programming days stopped with Fortran 77. The player base understands there will be bugs in the code. Scopely has acknowledged bugs and pledged to do better, less new content, better quality, better attention to details, etc. They never follow through. They publish annual roadmaps that they never follow. If a bug helps the players it is patched in hours, if the bug hurts the players it can remain in game for years. Its the repeating track record Scopely has that infuriates the players. It has gotten to the point that people that buy their products are leaving the game. Known big spenders are archiving accounts, closing their wallets, and walking away. That is not a good trajectory for the title. Their monetization strategy seems to focus more on draining the whale's wallets instead of encouraging new spend from the broader player base. I have walked away twice and came back. I love the title and want it to succeed.

As others note, scoring is 99% broken. I am ops 70 and cannot score in hostile dailies unless i patiently and tediously use the gravity blast on my gsm-31. Yesterday it took 15 kills to get 8 for the vengeance breen hostile event. The spend g6 portion did not score yesterday. The q event only reqards points for starting tasks, not completing, nor does it recognize hostile kills unless done with gravity blast. The problem started yesterday and has gotten worse, affecting virtually all aspects of the game.

From what I can tell, they took the bad code they had from their previous version of Unity and just migrated it over and broke a ton of pointers and links. Made things worse by using the same previous version Unity strings to add new content. It's obvious they can't unravel it. They need to call in a Unity rep to fix it. Unity probably has many tools to get them back on track. Of course the platform would need to go offline for at least a week to do it.

Unity book says that the engine will lag if you don't follow the intro section of their manual 🤣

If you wonder why you keep losing players here are a few things..

1. The bugs you keep giving us... do you even test the stuff or do you just go "It worked fine last time and with the small change/fix we did it should work w/o any issues."
2. The crazy prices of stuff causes most players to not buy much or anything at all
3. The repetitive and increase in the amount of events/loops you have us needing to do is making this more like work then a game
4. The random lag issues that keep happening and being told "it's being looked into"
5. The arcs have focused on ~35% of your players (G5+) that you are ignoring the other 65% of the players by just giving us a battlepass that only helps a little w/o any missions or anything like the rewards the people doing the arc get, and after an arc passes we cant get rewards from those arc missions (since they have not been put in the holodeck)
6. What you call compensation chest for things have been a joke that a bunch of us think at some point you will give us just basic RSS

It is great that a fix was identified and deployed for the scoring issues.

At the same time, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for an announcement explaining what happend.

A core function of the entire game (scoring in events to earn rewards) by completing an action fundamental to the player experience (destroying hostiles) simply stopped working. There was not a public-facing update to the code. There was not a scheduled or unscheduled maintenance that broke something. It was not an incidental reversion of a previous bug fix to a bugged state. All of which have happened before. It just broke and stopped working. I think that warrants more than a brief update from a moderator on the official discord (much as I appreciate what those mods do to keep the place running).

Perhaps this is already planned and/or too much to ask for or expect, but silence speaks louder than words--even if those words are platitudes or uninformative.

Frankly, your compensation likely will not be enough. I got screwed on the MACO Bellhopper SLB because I wasn't able to play while scoring was working, so I only scored for spending bells, not killing Q Trials hostiles, causing me to get a terrible placement compared to what I would have gotten, which not only means I got much lower rewards for that SLB than I should have, but I also have fallen out of the running for good placement on the MACO RLB as well.

The comp chest was a joke. I didn't get points for previous work done. I guess whoever decided to change the emergency rations options thought it was a good idea, it may be good sales driver. However the rewards from a player's perspective is that corporate doesn't care about the players.

With the recent changes to the battle pass rewards, no choice tokens, emergency rations giving a pittance of their former rewards, as well as the fiascos of the arc and alliance tournaments, more players are dropping from the game. The company needs to change direction if they want to keep and attract new players then they need to stop removing the additional incentives to play.

I can't progress like I used to, I am less inclined to spend money on a game that penalizes my game play by making it harder to make forward motion. Prior to this arc, Ops 70 was a reasonable goal. With the horrible things changed and introduced, ops 70 is an impossible unreachable goal.

I don't hate the game, however, if you don't fix what the managers and devs have broken this game will die. Please fix it

After eight years of playing I'm done, for the last couple of years its been new loop after new loop, and it obvious the game cant take it. The lag is unbearable and theres been no evidence that its being addressed to any extent. We've had lies and excuses about work being done to address problems but wheres the evidence? It just continues to get worse and the general arc launch issues are now a joke. Its too late for me but people are at the end of their patience, fix it, or the game dies.

EXACTLY!!! 100 points towards a task you still have to do to get the 375 anyway. And the 10k Battlepass points 🤣
When they have a couple of triple point days and you get the BP done 4 days before it ends anyway that 10k dont mean a damn thing. And the Outpost Pass points you get those without even trying just from killing hostiles on your regular grind

Orion prowler? I think you posted wrong screenshot. But as far for excelsior daily they send out comp of 100 points for it, scoring have been fixed you can go for second turn on regular Orion but if you used up max fort, don't know if you used it or not but that can be issue

That garbage compensation chest does not make up for me getting stuck with bad placement on the MACO Bellhopper SLB yesterday and losing position on the RLB as a result, and I'd rather get my teeth pulled than contact support and have them tell me there's nothing they can do about it

Well they were orion ships and i did 14 of them my dailies are for 10. So i did do more than required and i have not received any vegr points as compo for my dailies as i cant open the chest for my excelsior. That is the only thing that matters to me. The other stuff is pointless, the rations are hardly ever seen.

As far as today goes that is a separate issue, i want the points owed to get my parts for my ship.

I really don't think they are going to be able to help. The bot never asked what the problem was. I can't get to my player ID. And the bot never gave me a chance to give my email. Support basically got a ghost ticket. No problem listed and no user info to see what account can't login.

I think the reason Scopely thinks the game is working properly and isn't that laggy is because they must still be using Windows ME and using Internet Explorer as their browser.

You know they would have fixed the repair issue immediately if it saved us latinum instead of cost is latinum. The lag the last two days had been terrible and a silly comp chest that just lets us complete the stuff we already completed but the system didn't acknowledge is worthless. I know 2 people that came back to the game due to the marketing, so those people are good.... They also have quit along with 2 others because.."it's worse than when I left".

Its impossible to do waves new and solo old, lag runing everything, ships stuck in battle, few seconds to even start moving then all of the sudden stops for no reason, on new waves some kinda screen overlapping bug, ticket system is busy on other problems, hey idea.. It seems that everything that is changed in game lately is meant to boost your profit at the expense of the already failing game. Case in point, de-sealing rods. No longer do we have a battle pass overflow where it took about 4 months to gain enough rods to open the treasury. Now we have even less rods at the end of the free BP which is longer and you added the difference to the paid BP. Sorry folks not buying anything in the game till ya'll come to your senses.
