This is the first and only game of its type I have ever played. What a sad introduction to the world of MMOs.
Look, I don't begrudge Scopely making money. I understand its a business and not a nonprofit. But the product being delivered is so incredibly substandard, it amazes me anyone continues to play.
I decided to semi retire from playing 2 weeks ago because the game is so unstable on my phone I literally crash every 30s to 2m when actively playing. Add to that the fact that Scopely are completely tone deaf on anything anyone has to say to the point my last 2 in game message threads to CS were closed with absolutely ZERO replies!! Not even the courtesy of a form letter reply. Nothing. If that doesn't illustrate the level of disinterest the company has, this latest move should make it quite obvious that they don't know or care what happens as long as the money flows.
Well, I am no whale to be sure. But I have definitely doled out my share to this endeavor. No more. Not another single penny. I refuse to support a company that treats its clientele with such in your face disrespect.
I may even fully retire from playing unless and until Scopely actually learns how to produce a real product AND stand behind it.

"Fixing" Gaila, Chen, T'Laan, removing the armada rewards bug ... How about first fixing the things that do matter in the game: the lag, the crashes, sourcing of resources, DS armada refresh times, ... It shows where are your priorities.

I just looked at the new officer packs. They are a complete waste of credits.

It is 5750 credits for a single pull, and takes 3 days, but you use 6600 credits. You get 8 shards.

If you spent 300 credits for the 3000 faction recruit tokens, you get 30 shards....per day. 30! So for 3 days pulls you get 90 shards!!!! For 900 credits.

718 credits PER SHARD for the specialty pull or 10 credits per shard for the Normal pull. You get 71 more shards per cost.

And, the real kick in the teeth is you may get the EXCAT SAME OFFICERS in both pulls. If you already have the factions maxed out, you will get transporter patterns which accounts for the other half of the new officers. The cost of getting 1 new officer shard for the officers you can't easily source is about 10k credits per. If you are looking at the epics, it is more like 30k and 1 or maybe 2 a month.

I actually had money saved up just for this arc as I was excited to make some new benchmarks. For some reason I didn't see any packs that seemed worthwhile... yet. SOOOOO GLAD! I didn't spend anything more than the cheap battle pass but I would give it back for a refund.
I am on a small alliance that is mostly F2P and, they were buying packs like I have never seen free to play players do before, Scopley cracked the code to get free players spending... then... well we all want our mada credits back and will not be participating in the new content.
How can the launch of the most anticipated arc go so wrong?

I’ll be the first to say I spent $1577 last month like a fool and I haven’t played much this arc cuz new armadas is like a joke. No extra sourcing for the directives you require now to do both regulars and cardassian armadas. I feel you destroyed regular armada rare and epic chest sourcing because now everyone is using them to do alliance rep cardassian armadas and we get like 400 rare credits per launch instead of the normal 5k. I was burning though speed ups trying to down these new armadas and we finally found a way not to go through complete hull after hull with Gaila and then you take her away. Adding new content to a game doesn’t mean you have to take a profit. Sure your a business but at-least let us enjoy the game. Don’t take old armadas from us and give us new armadas. Now we have to pick and choose which we do and I doubt half of us will ever see enough rare credits to do a 6 chest pull of regular rare loot. Especially not the lvl 40 plus players. Some things actually in need of fixing in the game:

1. Cerritos, the shield regen has never worked;
2. Mantis, can’t use venom, low cap means it’s just being wasted, can’t get officers, also the buffs don’t start till you kill a ship after the ship with the buff, everyone effected by this literally paid you money for the ship and it doesn’t work right;
3. Fess — base mining is not mining. He’s never worked
4. The BRs, it’s impossible to tell what is triggering when.
5. Oh, and the whole game yesterday for six hours as someone who finished 2nd by just a little on one of the SLBs and 11th in the other, I want to say a particular thank you for that one. And funnily enough you all saved me $100 because I definitely would have bought the swarmada pack once I read the release notes for this arc, but I could log in to the store.

What didn’t need fixing:

1. Gaila - she played such an important role in making Armadas a true team effort rather than just power. It forced us to work together. It made F2P players just as important to the success as the guy with the highest credit line.

The fact that you decided to “fix” this before the other things is the first thing that has really made me question whether or not I want to keep playing.

Regression testing for this release failed. The build contained old or unmerged/validated code I suspect. It’s the only thing that can explain why seemingly small bugs like geody system is still broke but you said it was fixed in the patch notes. My Mantis doesn’t do the one trick pony it’s supposed to do. It’s essentially only a refinery option now.

Sadly that shadow has been visible for a long time. They adopt entirely the wrong stance, every time, in the face of community frustration - deafening silence. A conscientious forward-looking company which respects its customers will immediately apologise, go into listening mode, and communicate clearly they are doing this to reassure people and quell dissatisfaction. Half the anger and mudslinging would subside right away if players didn't feel they were being flat out ignored during those moments they most need to be heard. Even if Scopely doesn't intend this silence as an insult, that will always, inevitably, be how players interpret it.

How nobody in their PR team, if it exists, seems aware of this basic tenet of healthy brand management and good customer relations is baffling. Even a few seconds to consider just one cost-benefit analysis of hours saved by their support reps because x thousand angry/confused/abusive tickets are averted makes it obviously worth the few minutes and touch of humility required to post a proactive announcement to reassure and say sorry.

Incredibly poor skills when it comes to damage limitation... except on Cardassian armadas where they are peerless. 🤣

So to exploit Gaila, just have everyone in your Armada use her. After that you can do very high level Armadas easily because the CRIT HIT DMG IS LOWER THAN NORMAL HITS. As higher level Armadas do more crits, you receive less damage overall. It makes them very easy as pie. This can be used on ALL Armadas at any level. A level 50 Armada becomes doable by 40s. Remember no level limit so level 100 Armada released in future you can exploit.

What is especially chaffing is that players have been asking for updates to so many things that are just as easily changed. Pay tables for 10/4/24 chests, hostile chests, 6/12 hour daily events, and officer sourcing with no response from scopely. But oh no, players can kill the new armadas and fix goes out in hours. This is totally incorrect. Regular armadas have fixed crit rates of 10% 150 crit, Mudds 20% 200, borg 30% 300. Eight of 11 cancels all borg crits . Gaila onl eliminates critical dmg so for a fkr armada it's a 10% reduction in dmg which doesn't mean any group with gailas can go nuke any level armada.

Normal armadas have 10% chance to crit. You need three gailas to negate them, meaning an average of -10% damage.

Can't you think of any other officer that would do the same or much much more value to add to your crew pool?
Gaila is not a game breaker on normal armadas. It's actually much worse than using other officers.

Resolving gaila is just a sticking plaster to fundamental game problems, many long standing and but others created more recently (mantis, new officer packs). There is a complete disconnect between scopleys mindset and culture compared to the player base. Arcs this years have generally been dreadful and increasing monetisation to the point that any balance is a distant memory.

It’s another mis-step from Scopely- Gaila was always going to be used and had well known/established abilities that worked elsewhere in similar circumstances. In the same way Hemmers ability was completely changed AFTER people had acquired him for the original ability, now we see an officer everyone already had being nerfed to promote purchase of a new one. After the server/maintenance chaos, Scopely, you should have let this one go - like you have in the past when you made a mistake. You are so tone deaf to what customer service is, you’re going to drive players away and have no money from the game, which won’t make much difference to the user experience because it doesn’t feel like there is development or support now

While I like the addition of new officers to the elite faction recruit chests, I think the pricing of it needs to be adjusted. It take 4 days to be able to do a single chest pull, and it costs 7400 faction credits to do it. Compare that to the current faction recruit chests, a 6 chest pull costs 3k, which most people lvl 35+ should be able to do daily for only 3k faction credits. You do get 8 shards vs 5 on the old but the right balance on this hasn’t been found yet. Something around 5k faction credits would be more realistic.

Giving an Armada the ability to crit for 100% over time is already a game-breaker. To stack 450% critical damage on top of that makes them a non-sustainable repair-cost-fest and takes away the fun element of getting the rewards. So even if the Carmadas "only" did the base amount of critical damage, considering it's at a 100% chance is already severely punishing gameplay.

Taking away Gaila as she was has ruined the fun component completely and is hampering the enjoyment of building the Star Base.

The “armada crew glitch” is not a bug but a consequence of how they designed and coded armada crews to run. They are stacked together and treated as a single entity within the code, so to “fix” this they would have to completely redesign how armada crews work. A lot of time and effort for no return. This was discussed in DJ’s emergency podcast yesterday.

As I said earlier, nothing was wrong with what was going on. Whales were still going to splash the cash for the new shiny toys, F2P were engaged and even buying directive packs. Alliances seemed invigorated, I’m sure overall engagement was up. And then it all came crashing down! We went from 60% online and active to just 20% online in no time at all. AC has been mostly dead since. A few armadas still being called, but now we’re hitting 33s for the most part to keep the smaller players involved. Just put it back to “normal” and let us get on with playing the game.

At the moment with the insider quiz, it takes an hour to for the event to register a score when you answer a question and another hour after that for the next question to show up. Now that the dust on the Gaila debacle has somewhat settled, can we now address the next elephant in the room with Cardassian armadas? As they use regular directives, which is great, we need the sourcing for those to increase significantly. Especially as we now have to chose between regular armadas with good rewards for our ops levels, or hitting way down the levels against CAS rares and epics. This has introduced a massive imbalance in the sourcing of rare and epic armada credit to exchange for g3 and g4 chests in the alliance store.

These are the biggest things that this arc has already fumbled on upon release and really needs to be revamped:

Cardassian Armadas. Great that they use the same kind of directives, but the sourcing for these NEEDS to be addressed in terms of there simply just needs to be more. If you keep expecting us to be doing more things with more mechanics with more more more more, then there has to be some "give" in terms of sourcing the means for these. Otherwise kiss your "FKR" events goodbye because we all have to "keep up" on this starbase and have no directives to actually spend. No, I'm not spending $100 just to be able to participate.

On that topic. Get rid of the stipulation of when you leave an alliance, all the rep you gained disappears. This has essentially killed off any players that want to visit family alliances or even in general people who want to just try out new groups without being "left behind" in that mechanic. I can maybe understand that you would maybe lose a certain amount of rep per day while you were gone, but to blatantly lose it is just not kosher.

Elite Recruit Packs - I totally understand wanting to use yet another type of recruit token (not really), but if you're going this route, make the packs actually worth the THOUSANDS of faction credits that we have to spend for ONE pull. No duplicates. There are PLENTY of officers in the game that could easily fill these slots versus ones that've had for many years. Either replace the duplicates or vastly improve the number of shards you give per pull.

The level lock on the mantis makes it almost a useless ship for people around lvl 35. All of our ships can go 2 mil power plus at 35, but the mantis is lvl locked to 36 before you can tier it to tier 4, around 1.3 mil power. You can't hostile grind much at lvl 35 with a 1.3 mil ship.

To whom it may concern, as much as Rev Deuce says the Elite Battle Pass is worth the $, it is definitely not., in the purest of sense of Dollar for Dollar. Screenshot image is of Rev's view of Battle Pass (Lv42) vs. (right) my current Battle Pass view (Lv22).
Since it costs money to get the Elite Battle Pass (Elite Pass Unlock Option 1 = $139.99 CAD; Elite Pass Unlock Option 2 = $27.99 CAD), the unlocked amounts should be the same as everyone else. Whether you can use all the materials at your current level or not.

This makes me feel like I am being ripped off. $ = $. Not $ = less for you cuz your a lower level. Please. Re-check your $ Offers to match no matter the level.

Just had a TC fight and i have to say, the game frustrates the f' out of me simply for one reason: Strike Team

Instead doing this, they add it to the shop, make event about while 90% of the server can’t or won’t buy it but will miss all scores or rss from that specific event.

It's been four days since this disaster of an update, three and a half since the end of the emergency downtime that was supposed to fix the worst of the problems.

That entire time since then, Server 201 and numerous others have had game-breaking lag in recording events.

People are having to spend TWENTY HOURS to do the espionage quiz. Pick an answer, wait an hour for it to tell you if you're right. Collect the reward, wait another hour for the next question to populate. Rinse/repeat ten times. And that's assuming you get the answer right. MANY people will have failed this event even given three days to do it due to this.

SLBs are a mess. You simply cannot know how you're progressing compared to others. Any actions taken in the last hour of the SLB may/will probably not be registered.

Even daily goals, the bread and butter of keeping people logging in to this insane grindfest, have become a problem. Kill some swarm, wait AN HOUR. Collect the points, WAIT ANOTHER HOUR, then they show on the totals board. If you have not completed your dailies at least two hours before reset, you MISS OUT. And I KNOW you have received multiple tickets about this from people who hit this issue, and they've been closed with completely irrelevant responses.

I expect not every server is experiencing this, but a good number of them are including 201, 119, 162, 158, 156 and that's just scrolling back a few pages here.

I had been chalking this up to workload, left over from the shambolic update deployment, but over three days later I can only assume it's incompetence, or worse, malice. There has been no attempt at resolving, or even acknowledging this issue. At this stage I don't even care about the endless "we're sorry" gifts, just fix, the dang, lag, please!

I’d like to see exocomps have the ability to work regardless of whether or not your ship is at the station. If I have a ship mining on a lucrative G3 node with a +150% material mining exocomp, I clearly plan on keeping the miner there to continue mining until it’s full. So, I should be able to start another exo when I reset the node.

Example:
Start exocomp, send ship to 1,000,000 node. Ship mines node until 0, exocomp is used up. Reset node, ship mines 150% slower (at normal rate) and you can’t start another exo unless you bring your ship back to the station, but you’d also be wasting the transwarp token.
solution: as long as your miner isn’t actively mining, and you start a new exocomp, that exocomp should apply to your ship that is not currently mining

Here’s a handy tip. Move to another node before the one you are mining goes to zero. The exo stays active, even if it already expired. Going zero node kills it. If you do go zero node, though, if you restart the exact same exo BEFORE you reset, it’ll stay active and save you a trip back to base.

The problem is not this arc. The problem is that the game devs spend month after month after month introducing new content without bothering to fix the problems of the last arc, or the arc before that...or the bugs that have been there for literal years. DS9 arc may turn out to be perfectly fine. But, for the time being, the devs have a track record of being more interested in pushing their content than making the game better.
Month after month, lag is an issue. Server stability is an issue. Event scoring is an issue. Proper officer sourcing, faction/independent credits sourcing, armadas have been an issue since inception, mats acquisition, constantly introducing new currencies. None of this is new, and none of it is being addressed to the point of actually making it good.
Now, I am not saying to stop playing or to stop spending on the game. No one really knows how much this game makes Scopely (since it is a private company, not required to provide that info), but it is estimated to be one of the top grossing games owned by Scopely. They have the money to devote to fixing the game. They just don't.
Ultimately, for myself, I have decided to uninstall the game and take the month off. Not having it on my phone makes it a lot easier to not think about it all the time. I still have it on my pc (for now) so I can re-up my 7-day shield... but... I think the end is in sight. Getting on for anything leaves me demoralized.
As for the actual new content, I think the new officer sourcing is bad because cost to acquire the new currency to get the new packs is way too expensive. The new armadas sound like an interesting concept, but, really? MORE new currency? Alliance Starbase currently is just another new mining "thing" and that is just not exciting. Maybe down the road it will be good.... New officers... might be good, but without proper sourcing post arc, why bother? Ultimately, this month is another yawn for me and no reason to be excited about the game.

Another arc where they break something else in the game. I have heard reports from many people about not being able to turn on services in territories. It works sometimes and for some people temporarily, but not consistently. The main reason for owning territory is the services. Fix issues that are known due to adding more content. Fix issues that are know from adding old content, fix issues that have been know for years before adding new content. List to the people that play the game.

I agree with this, with the key fault being the mindset that every arc must be about new content. Extra grind and always taking the complex or convoluted option rather than simplicity, and the whole games has become bloated and disconnected - from far too many currencies to additional systems that are used once for a mission visit.
Armadas is a prime example of a real mess, from how to source directives, how the different types relate to the game, the rewards you get, how and what events use them etc - no holistic thinking at all.

Treasury has 28 of each G3 UC Ore/Crystal/Gas (highest I've ever seen) and one of the 30d Loyalty Chest has 200 of each G3 UC Mat (Ops 39), so 7 Treasuries would get me to 196 of each and would need an 8th to surpass the amount of G3 UC mats given by a single 30d loyalty chest. Treasury also has 2.8k Lat (a bit less than I get from a 2x pull from the Conc Lat refinery), but still more than the 30d chest. The main benefit is the officer shards (3MM Par, 105k Trit, 14k Dil, and various G3 common mats or G2 C/UC barely worth noting), and I guess the 120 Optical Diodes since those aren't really available elsewhere. Depending on the month, sometimes it doesn't even have any G3 Mats even at Ops 38 and 39, though last month and this month it did

No it didn’t - clear localisation over 20 times in 24 hours to get terirory buffs to work, more than that over 3 days 30-40 at least and still took 3 days before it worked - that was not only one person but multiple players all trying in different locations, different devices, different countries, different operating systems. It did not work. Scopley have to stand up be adult about it and go yes we broke it all, stop the servers shut it all down fix it properly then restart - if it takes a week - do it. It will be far better than just making players even angrier fed up and quitting. Stop all events and just have dailies for a week while they fix in the background if necessary but stop this farce as it is

Those workarounds are only for that particular issue. The lengthy, persistent scoring delay on a handful of servers is an issue being investigated still last I heard. There are no known workarounds for that right now.

But we only get a couple of words from the Devs that 99.99% of players will never see.
From our perspective the only ones doing anything about it are community volunteer by pushing it up to @tacit obsidian . But also that is invisible to us and there is 0 official reaction on the topic. Not in game not here in the announcements....
