Legacy Crystal was one of the things you got if you activated the Legacy Protocol, which was a feature being tested during late Alpha and Beta last fall as a way to encourage players to reset the Primary sim after Reality Reboot was released. Legacy Protocol was avaliable after Level 50, and when it was activated, the primary sim and RE reset, and you got 200 bonus darwinium and a permanent 2x sim speed boost, as well as the Legacy Crystal cosmetic.

Sometime last fall (September maybe?), the 2x speed boost was replaced with a 1-week infinity pass, and when I discovered that my speed boost had been taken away, I was not happy and wrote a strongly-worded memo complaining about it. But by the time RR came out last November, the whole Legacy Protocol thing had been dropped - all that's left is the option to reset your simulation. I guess they decided it wasn't cost-effective to give incentives for resetting.

So only people who were Alpha/Beta testers last fall had a chance to get the Crystal, which makes it kind of a cool thing to have. My brother got the Neutrino Relic even though he never came close to getting Neutrino Expansion in the old game, but he'll never get the Legacy Crystal!

it's more likely a save glitch. Occasionally that happens to me as well, has since Reality Revamp. The fix is to resave (on an save instance of the game where it isn't reset) and reupload to crossplatform save, then download from there.

If the update tomorrow forces it on everyone, I will NOT be a happy camper, heh.
