Agreed. I always thought the MLG way was the best. It was an extended series if the team from losers won like 4-2, it would then just go longer and continue from the 4-2 score. So winners got a second chance but the first score still mattered a lot.

I think a bracket reset is a way to bring fairness. But lets not forget that a lower bracket team have more series to play in order the reach Grand Final. Winners have advantages as : less series, more breaks, can watch other teams and strategizes.
In this Kaysan the bracket was very small so advantage evaporates but in the Open or in Major its there

From my understanding C9 dropped their championship roster but stayed in to reduce salaries, but I don’t think they eliminated them altogether.
I think there is a place for that kind of team that is Top8 or Top12 and a reduced salary. Still good exposure for your org and its sponsors.

Agreed. But still a place for teams if they want to be. Halo teams (and most/all esports) don’t make money. But the sponsors pay for it and need to be seen by as many eyes as possible. For some Halo isn’t worth it. For some it is.

anyway my prediction for Arlington, i think Shopify is going in as the favourites and i think they're going to win. They beat Optic 11-3 the other day in scrims and they're pretty much outslaying every team they play by a wide margin. I still think that Optic will be tough to beat, it's their home event, i think the crowd will be louder than ever for them but Shopify is looking really really good right now. I think even in terms of mentality, all i see from Shopify is them vibing and having fun, enjoying what they do which is getting paid for playing a videogame after all, meanwhile Optic they seem to be feeling the pressure a bit more imo.
Obviously is easier to have fun when you're winning like Shopify have been doing so far but at the same time winning can't become an obsession, i think that's the difference between the 2 teams right now

Props on getting the tourney back on after that crazy power outage. That was really well handled.
The overall production of HCS just seems like there are always problems. There are so many little tech problems that make it hard to take it seriously as a fan. I'm sure there are people behind the scenes including yourself that are working super hard to try to make everything smooth but I just feel like there is a lack of quality with the overall production.
Especially with the game crashes, I feel as though y'all should have content ready to show whilst we wait for the resets. With Halo Infinite being the way it is, you should have plans for when there are problems. Lean into it at this point because you know they will happen.

I think Optic could make a documentary, i don't know if they were recording behind the scenes or not but their resilience throughout the tournament is so inspiring. From finishing 2nd in pool to losing wr 1 against Shopify with that team nade in solitude slayer at 49-49, almost being out against Nemesis down 2-0 in loser bracket and reverse sweep them. I like that Legend said after that he was sure they were going to win it. And also Renegade, i started following HCS with Halo Infinite so only 3 years ago but that was the most insane individual performance i've ever seen

Also i'm very happy for Faze and the way Trippy played, that overkill extermination on live fire is probably the best clip from this event. I would put a small wager on early 2026 at the latest. Been working on it since 2023 as far as we know. Maybe even earlier. Likely a multiplayer only game, but it’s been on the works for a while now. I also firmly believe that HCS 4 wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t close.

Either that or they're just trying to coast through the last season. They've all won during infinite and I think they just don't care as much or at least not enough to try to make some crazy team change.
This SSG roster on paper is always going to be top 4.

It's a stable team compared to a team like Faze where they could either get 3rd/4th or like 7-8 depending on the event

I disagree. I think they care a lot. No one at that level is just coasting and going through the motions. None of those guys are going to be comfortable getting fourth three times in a row (if you include the invitational to start the season.) However, on paper this team should be better and they are trying to make it work. With that said another 4th or worse finish likely makes them do something to change the situation.

- Pool play page > Individual pool pages I'd add the standings above as well for that pool so you don't have to flip back to the All Pools page to see the records (could keep it 2 columns and put the standings on one side, all pool matches on the other
- Noted above just navigation in general, only way to navigate is by clicking back, once you're into a page there's no way out to the menu unless you go back a bunch
- Design overall, just my personal preference it's not the greatest 😅 The bracket itself could look much better (and has some issues when team names get long like SSG not fitting in the box, SR causes the map score to shift out of the box entirely as well)
- Team logos would be great
- Honestly forgot the hub even existed outside of someone sending me a screenshot of the bracket and me wondering where it came from
- might just be an arlington theme thing but the green showing which team won is almost impossible to see on some of the backgrounds
- Wouldn't say critical but a list of the teams + players that are in pools would be nice

- links to the Waypoint event blogs in each event homepage
links to the startgg open brackets(turns out it's there! - rename it to say Open Bracket)- when in the pools/series details, might be nice to also have match scores, at least for the major 4v4 tournaments

One other point of feedback perhaps relevant to this site. HCS info is largely difficult to find unless you are really plugged in to the scene. I would love to see HCSLan turned into a more comprehensive HCS page. With a calendar of events, team data, updated as qualifiers are played and seeds are set, info on player transfers between teams, etc. Take a look at HLTV.org for counter strike for what I am imagining.
I know this is not quite in line with what you are asking, but I think a more comprehensive info dump kind of site for HCS lans/onlines/players/news would go a long way in making it overall more accessible and interesting to competitive Halo fans

Just to add to this as general HCS feedback. It would be amazing to get more open bracket coverage/streams at LAN events. There is some very good/entertaining halo being played in the am bracket, and the potential for those ams to one day break into pool play is a big part of what makes halo special as an esport

If I click on a match I would like to see a detailed result page showing maps/gametypes and scores
If the match is in progress I would like to show what stream I can watch it on and the maps/gametypes still
When I click into a bracket I should be able to get back to the main page by hitting the HCS logo at the top of the page
For side bracket stuff it would be nice to click on a team and see the roster. (For things like 2v2 it could be better not to ask for a team name but just to put their gamertags)
Inside the pool play tab it would be good to have a schedule of the matches alongside more detailed information.
It could be nice to have a spoiler mode within the website that will hide results for matches until you click something to reveal it
If I click on a match that's completed it would be good to have a link that sends you to that matches stream timestampped to when it began.
I would personally welcome a version of the champ bracket and pool play that also lives on start.gg like the open bracket does. could be a place where the more detailed information lives easily and when you click in from the HCSLan website you can choose to visit it to see more information.

In any case, I do think there could be cool opportunities to have a tournament system integrated into the game itself.
Especially with visibility, accessibility and bringing in more players.
Not sure if it'll happen though for reasons I stated previously.
Also, fyi, Tashi and the HCS team are experienced professionals that pay attention to the other esports as well, I'm sure they are aware.
But of course send them any feedback!!
If people voice what they want, it helps guide things.
