If it was a genuine opinion, then you must be uninformed about both normal business basics and the entire last year of Halo news: they have nearly completed an entire development cycle on a total remake+ of a game, which no business seeking to kill an IP would ever spend the time and money to do. Personally D2 is still my pinnacle of modern Halo-esque gunplay. It felt absolutely perfect mechanically to play Crucible. I've never played something that's surpassed it in that aspect.

These days the game has some pretty overtuned abilities and a bunch of the endgame modes make running double special almost mandatory, but Crucible feels really good when they turn off abilities

Also like, despite Renegades being a collab with Lucasfilm, it really didn't feel all that much like Star Wars beyond the weapon designs
