I have a major question. One thats been bugging me for a bit now. Why is Master Chief literally the only spartan ever around? I've noticed that whenever something goes wrong Chief seems to be the only one there. Where is literally every other spartan? Wheres his team that he had? Of those Spartans, 2 snuck away from the island, 1 was teleported away, and one's armor broke and they went back to the fray marine-style.

Luck is the biggest factor-the situations in Halos 1-3 that threaten Chief tend to get distracted.

For example-He was an incredibly hard target for the Covenant to focus down in CE, because he was one singular man with an AI misdirecting the Covenant battlenet, effectively dissappeared off the ring right when the bigger threat in the flood popped up, and basically came back when the Covenant were even more distracted by the flood and the human remnants trying to get off the ring-by the time Chief's goal was even realized, he was already hucking grenades into the reactor of the Autumn.

But Spartans are more typically deployed like Noble-on offensive and interdiction deployments. Defensive deployments are not where Spartans are exemplary.

This isn't true. ODSTs still outnumber IVs by several orders of magnitude, and fulfill a different strategic and tactical niche.

Infinite and Rubicon Protocol both make direct mention of ODSTs (The former in audio logs, the latter outright has ODSTs running around-they're mentioned as being even colder than the more humanitarian-and-proud Spartan IVs)

That said-I think his swap from GEN2 Mark VI MOD to GEN3 Mark VI makes a lot of sense. If Mark VI MOD was mostly a refurbished version of the mods Cortana made to his armor between 3 and 4, of course he'd swap to something new that she didn't know anything about considering he's likely #1 on her 'acquire, alive' list.
