That article confirms for me that the creators of the series don't share the same perspective as the majority of the Halo community. As the article points out, Master Chiefs face was a secret for around 20 years and they didn't consider that, and Wolfkill somehow found the reaction to John being naked to be shocking. And Master Chief as only an avatar for the player? What about all of the cutscenes, the already established lore behind him that showed us who Chief was? It's all quite disappointing imo. I'm glad others enjoy the show, but I think I'll have to distance myself from this part of Halo from now on.

If you turn your brain completely off its slightly watchable. but thats not high praise for a project that was in development that long and had big money behind it. Then again what do you expect when you have writers from the CW and one of the show runners behind that god awful netflix deathnote live action adaptation. Paramount had to do mental gymnastics to make it appear to be a "huge success" on its platform that typically has bad numbers anyway. the show didnt make any kind of real splash. Almost no ones talking about it or making theories or clamoring for season 2.

This may have been said before but I feel like Master Chief would be more of an action movie character than a show series character. Show series are longer and more story driven by nature, harder to fit a character who does so little talking and so much fighting. Like Tyrant said, leave the shows to the side character. But Master Chief can still be the main while in portions more digestable/compatable with his character

The problem is that they have centered the show around a character that doesn't work.

The show has let down the majority of halo fans, and has failed to gain popularity with non-halo fans. The show is a failure, simple as.

If you enjoy it, that's great. Defend the show to the death if you need to, but the fact remains that 343 and paramount have completely botched the show, and it will fade into obscurity and be cancelled soon.

I have explained it, and am happy to re-explain. Chief is specifically designed as a faceless, generic vessel for the player to kill aliens in a video game.

His entire personality can be summed up as "get me a weapon", and nothing more. He doesn't show anger, or sadness, or any emotions. He does whatever he needs to do, as efficiently as possible. His armor was essentially the character itself, with some occasional one-liners here and there

By having chief show romantic feelings for example, and showing his face, and putting him in emotional dilemmas, they break his character completely.

343 actually showed their lack of understanding of this as early as Halo 4, where they tried to flesh out a " romance" of sorts between chief and cortana, which if you'll remember, just came off as weird and forced to most players

To reiterate the same point: another problem is that a drama TV show character needs to be faced with problems and dilemmas and internal conflicts.

Chief doesn't experience these. He would address any problem only in the most logical, straightforward and tactical sense. No fear, no sense of self-preservation. If his orders were to go on a suicide mission, he wouldn't even hesitate.

To paraphrase Obi Wan Kenobi, he's basically "more machine now, than man"

However, have you considered Warner bros actually followed the Harry Potter lore? They followed the lore of each book and established a broader audience by appealing to the core audience

Following with that establishment of actual lore to movie, they were able to create spin offs such as that new one with Johnny Depp and salamander or whatever his name is

With halo, considering it has a core audience already, they can easily adapt one of the books as a series

Or even adapt a new story that follows in lore or a spinoff of the lore, due to how old and widespread halo already is
