games look a lot more impressive and some good games are still being made of course. Things i don't like are the monetization strategies, worse in mobile games, but can be present in any game nowadays. i laugh at people who spend thousands on games such as WWE Champions, a gacha candy crush wrestler game, good for the company i guess but the customer has a real problem. i have actual problems as well but i have doctors for them. luckily i don't have a gambling/game addiction. if i love or care about a person i help make sure they aren't addicted to such a game.

when speaking about halo 5's campaign, you have to take into account...it's the 5th game. The reason this is significant is because of what it means for expectations of a campaign when it gets to the point of being the 5th game, rather than say, the 3rd game.

Thinking about this in movie terms, the 5th sequel usually isn't even close to as innovative/spectacular as the first 3.

the goal that was put forth, make a story with half decent cgi that continued the saga of the previous game and expanded into new territory that you can watch/play with friends, that was met.

as for the "wow" factor? there's not much more wow to be had. Halo has strained it's possibilities within the first 3 or so games.

I liked the plot twists that this game introduced, although the pacing seemed very strange.

the reason the games who have main caracters who are full of mystery or dont show their faces tend to do really well, for the same reason why the the comic Tin tin did so well. Its beacause they are generic or have no openess because it gives the reader/player to insert themselves into the characters position and feel immersed into the world, feeling like they were the one facing those enemies, overcoming those obstacles, etc
