'the darkness' - the pyramid ships from the end of the red war that were shown really far away - have been steadily encroaching. the next expansion after Forsaken - SHADOWKEEP - Takes us abck to the moon, where Eris Morn woke up a slumbering pyramid under the lunar surface. we venture inside it, and it tells us that they are our salvation - against what? we're not sure.
At some point in the year we travel through time and rescue Saint-14, the Legendary Exo titan lost to time. He now manages Trials of Osiris. The cabal send the almighty - the planet-consuming sun-destroyer - on a collision course with earth, and featured Destiny 2's first ever live event - We got to watch in real time as Rasputin powered up across the solar system - with Bunkers scattered on earth, Io and the Moon - to fire volley after volley of missiles to blow up the Almighty. In these bunkers they had a board shwocasing the pyramids getting closer and closer to the solar system.
The next season, we find these pyramids on Mars, Io, Mercury and Titan, where we get our first interactions with the Darkness. It's pretty cool, but what's cooler (heh) is the current expansion - BEYOND LIGHT. WE have gone to Europa, as we recieved a distress signal. Darkness-wielding Eliksni have risen up, and Eramis, the Kell for this collective, can wield Stasis - the term for the darkness abilities. From the help of the Exo Stranger, we freeze eramis and get to wield the darkness ourselves for the first time. We've also had some huge lore opportunities, as on Europa lies the DEEP STONE CRYPT - where Exos were researched and made.
stasis is dummy OP in pvp, and super fun in PVE, but theyve also added some BALLER exotic weapons - a chainsaw-sword and a super sexy lever-action rifle just to name a couple. There's also been some big lore reveals - such as the reveal of Clovis BRay's AI, and that Banshee-44, the gunsmith, is actually a sub-sect of Clovis Bray's AI, which is really cool. There's also Felwinter, the only known non-living guardian - as they were an AI themselves made by Rasputin.

Honestly, the dev teams seem really pumped. Especially the Overwatch guys, who seem to be doing some great work and had more to show than I thought they'd have, given that they weren't featured in the opening ceremony.
I'm also pleased that the Reforged Team was scrapped and the D2 remaster is going to be handled by a team I trust in Vicarious Visions.

Specifically that my computer's "CPU Frequency" (2.40 GHz) didn't meet the 2.98GHz requirement. It lets me boot the game up, but would I be risking damage to my computer by playing the game anyways?

As far as i know cpu frequency is how often it can compute data or code, so if it has to load a bunch of things at the same time it will likely struggle. any damage will likely be from overheating. i suggest you test it if it allows you to proceed. if you hear your fan running reallyt fast or your comp starts to get really hot i suggest you back out.

One of the biggest stupid choices that led to Telltale's Downfall was their insistence on using their outdated in-house engine
Because
A: It means every new programmer must be traimed to use it.
B: It was incredibly clunky so programming on it was hell
C: After almost a decade it was just outdated graphically.
D: Limited the Gameplay
With Unity you have an enormous pool of free programmers that can start working for you ASAP instead of needing additional training

meanwhile in games like Trails and Chrono Trigger it's like this
Unless you walk directly into the imps you see on the bottom right the fight will not start
A very simple change but it streamlines the experience very much
