Chthonic Vitality is constant healing during the run and a lot of healing in the last biome where you won't find Darkness rewards for Dark Regeneration.
Dark Regeneration depends on finding Darkness when you actually need the healing and then you're giving up getting other rewards like rerolls from a Chthonic Key chamber because you had to go for Darkness to get the healing.
Chthonic Vitality has no opportunity cost really. Just consistent healing.

if you take a boon from a god it adds them to your 'pool'. you can have up to 4 gods in your pool though hermes doesnt count for it. once you have 4 gods in your pool youll only see those 4 gods unless you use a keepsake. forcing gods with a keepsake will add them to your pool and purging doesnt remove them.

Strong builds typically focus on 2-3 specific gods and only splash specific support boons from others they come across.

In Hades it's usually best to focus on something and have it as your main source of damage, atleast until you're more familiar with aspects and damage in general, so you can focus on your attack/special/cast etc, and if you focus on your Cast to do the damage for you, taking another Cast would be really good value

You can pretty much ignore anything that isn't Phalanx Shot. They would just open up Duo Boons you likely don't want and pollute your pom pool.
If you have Hangover in your build, Trippy Shot is always a great option.

on fist, they're all pretty similar and play the same so look at the bonus and pick which one you'll like the most. If you're not sure, Zagreus Fist is pretty safe with guaranteed dodge chance,
For spear, Achilles is probably the best because the bonus is easy to proc and gets pretty huge when upgraded. Hades gets the same damage bonus but Spin attack is harder to do safely, Zagreus is underwhelming, and the hidden aspect is very very hard to play until fully upgraded and then it's only hard to play
