Something general to keep in mind for any projectile enemies is that circling them is usually best to avoid their attacks... and in Tartarus where the Witches like to spread out and surround you, staying close to the walls means you can't be fired on from all directions.

Rule of thumb is Darkness > Keys. You'll run out of use for Keys waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before you run out of use for Darkness.

There's another role-play component with the keepsakes. I felt lots of support from Nyx, so I did many runs with her keepsake. You can push yourself with a certain keepsake you like all the way.
Do note there's better keepsakes than others, but this is another way you can play the game

Each weapon has 2 kinds of attack, normal and special

#

On attacks that are slow and hit hard, you want boons that give you increased % damage

#

On attacks that are fast and hit small, you want boons that give you "flat damage"

#

Zeus is flat damage because the lightning does the same amount of damage no matter how hard your weapon hits

#

Same with dionysus

#

Aphrodite will give you the most % increase in damage

#

This is just a rule of thumb, but it should help you through the early game

Try to separate the bull from theseus, watch for the crosshair , that means Theseus will throw his spear and when it starts fickering dodge straight away, the bull's attavk should be easy to dodge

Well, you should get his Dash first and foremost if you haven't yet, then get t2 boons like Breaking Wave, Razor Shoals, etc.

#

The core of the build is Lightning Strike, Tidal Dash, Static Discharge, any decent % boon on Special, and any t2 boons for your Dash.

#

Plus all the poms on Tidal Dash and one or two on Static Discharge, maybe one or two on Special.

Rarity is the base power, and levels add to the base power. So if you increase the rarity, the base damage/effect will be stronger, where as leveling just adds to the base, if that makes sense.

There's a "1st Lord Hermes boon" and a "2nd Lord Hermes boon" that are in the pool of gold laurel rewards that can appear. The 1st will be added back to the pool until you pick it up. The 2nd can only appear when you already picked up the 1st, and the 2nd will then be added back to the pool until you pick it up.

So, skipping the 1st or 2nd in a shop doesn't remove it. It will be added back to the pool and can show up again. But if you skip the 1st too often, you might never see the 2nd.

took me around 5h to reach boss 1, you'll get better with time. If you haven't already, buy the double dash upgrade and death defiance from the mirror, and give nectar to Skelly (or Cerberus) to get his keepsake

you should save up for death defiance in the mirror tbh, and use the keepsake from giving nectar to pup

most of this game comes down to your own experience and familiarity with the enemy and boss movesets, and the boons you get are just random each time
so thats the main thing you can do to make a tangible early difference

you can use keys to unlock weapons or more options in the mirror, but those new options really arent that amazing, and you want to spend darkness on the early ones first

(3) Static Discharge (to Lv.2-3) if you have Lightning Strike or Thunder Flourish as a primary source of damage,
(4) Hunter's Mark in a crit build,
(5) Curse of Agony/Pain and Impending Doom in Doom builds,
(6) Call if you have Smoldering Air,
(7) Poms on Heartbreak Strike/Flourish always scale well up to like Lv.5ish.

Just to be clear, any high % Special is fine. You're looking for Lightning Strike > Tidal Dash > Static Discharge and any decent % Special.... except Tempest Flourish, really, because the knockback can be annoying on that.

Eris is the most broken weapon aspect in the game.

The bonus damage is global.

#

It's essentially just a way better Zag Rail.

#

You can play Hestia like base rail, but normally you want it to be a high level and get a high % damage on Attack... so either Heartbreak Strike or Deadly Strike.

#

Hidden rail has a lot of build variety, but Lightning Strike > Tidal Dash etc. is still one of the best builds on that.

Decent strat to deal with them is to either wait until they start charging dodge to the side and wale on them, or just hit them from a distance with bloodstones or a ranged attack if your weapon has one

Think of it as a turn-based fight. Empty-dash when he attacks, then attack him when he's recovering from his attacks, then evade again.

i actually did get out on exactly my 60th run without god mode & that was worthwhile for me bc i was still able to see that i was making improvements every time

if the difficulty is such that you aren't getting better or aren't getting better fast enough, or if you just aren't into difficult, then god mode is a good option. taking a long time is not a big deal though
