Some say that in order to get the '1 replenish', you have to commit suicide before picking up this boon, else you won't get anything. Is that really true? Is this a bug that has been fixed? If so, in what way?

if you have your SD still and take last stand, you wont get an extra DD.

but if you die first, then get last stand, the DD will go into your SD slot.

but when you go into the next room, your SD will also replenish. now you will have 1 DD and 1 SD.

And yeah what @misty ridge said is a part of why it’s so rare. You need to roll a chaos room, roll a legendary, and have already rolled a chaos room previously. Probably the most narrow set of boon circumstances in the game

Then go with your gut! But there is a pretty substantial recovery time after you use your standing attack or Maim, and its dash strike, which is amazing, only does 20 damage, so it's not great as a primary damage source.

It's pretty difficult to Maim something and then not get hit afterwards. The lag is pretty bad, and then you get hit with extra damage (or by something else)

Eventually you’ll get the muscle memory to do it more naturally, but I’m on controller too and that’s a very good crutch for bow dash attacking
