Yep, that’s intended. Basically while you have it on, your Attack, Special, and Cast have +100% added to their damage while un booned. So generally when offered boons, you take ones that don’t affect them

I beat Theseus and Asterius and made it all the way to the final boss afterwards today, but I did die there, unfortunately. I once again beat Theseus first—I’m almost sure he has less HP. His Ares call was way worse than the Artemis one, though.

Also, I like Demeter’s cast. Having three beams going all at once is great. Chill isn’t a good status effect, though, from what I can tell. I got rid of my chill revenge pretty fast. I kinda wish you could just take a set amount of obols from a god rather than taking a boon so that, if you don’t like any of the three boons that are offered to you, you could just take the obols in its place rather than having to wait until the end of the area.

It’s not really rewarding you for taking damage, it’s paying you back for the damage you take. Health is very scarce in this game so there’s still an incentive to not take damage, revenge boons just make it so it’s not a complete loss when you do.
