I've climbed out of Tartarus first time on this much high heat but all the boons were from Athena, I'm swamped by them. (Not a bad thing, her legendary is truly legendary.)

Elysium is a big build and skill check for sure

I’d recommend trying to just group the enemies together so you can kite them more effectively and pick them off

Two parts to the game, execution (hitting stuff, dodging stuff, not dashing into traps), and character building (what boons to pick, what keepsakes to take, how to lay out mirror talents). The better you get at one, the more of a margin of error you have for the other. Generally, character building is easier to fix, while getting better at execution is something that comes with time and knowing your weapons.

I've already used my death defiance at the Theseus and minotaur fight most of the time

Do the miniboss encounters first, they are easier than normal rooms

Boons wise the easiest way to go through styx is poseidon's cast or dash + breaking wave

Most weapons start with a strike boon from a god they care about, then from there you pick up cores (strike/special/cast/dash) from other gods to fill them out since the core boons have priority so they’re always going to steal 1 option if any of them are unfilled. Secondaries are kind of really dependent on the god

If you’re aiming for duos or legendaries you have to be more careful about who you take your cores from

Also once you take boons from 4 regular olympian gods (so not Hermes and not Chaos), the game will stop showing you the other regular olympian gods so your boon consistency gets pretty much doubles

i heard you can fish in this game, and i bought the rod from the contractor, but how do i actually fish?

sometimes in rooms throughout a run you may find a shiny white spot in the water whatever liquid is in that region
when there are no enemies around and a fishing spot is in the room, a bell chime will play, indicating you can fish
then just press the interact button near the fishing point to cast, and then you can press it again to reel
however, reeling too early or late gives you nothing
you need to wait for the lure to be pulled fully into the water in order to catch the fish (there may be fakeout bobs beforehand)

for tartarus itself I have more general tips than anything
take it slow at first, focus on timing your dashes for a while to know the dodge windows and slowly start adding your attacks, athena's dash is commonly one of the best defensive boons for any kind of gameplay
regarding dash itself: your dash has iframes (period of time where you can't be hit) for almost the entire duration of one but the iframes are cancelled inmediately if you use a dash strike or other attacks, so if you need to dodge be sure to just do the dash alone

gift at least 1 nectar to everyone you can

a lot of keepsakes are really strong

take with a grain of salt cuz most of the trades I do are on new files where Ik I'll benefit most from X resource and can get away from dumping others

really early game I do a lot of gems into keys for mirror/weapons to rush aspect then keys into nectar a lot

ambrosia into blood is also an early game trade I do

if you get all sources of ambrosia there's some excess of it to the total you need

vs blood that even with all sources still needs fishing/trading/buying to finish

the idea is basically just rushing to 1 lvl 5 aspect to steam roll through ||the pact of punishment, then use those resources to max another weapon and repeat||

outside of that

once you don't have more uses for keys always try to keep 15 keys with you

in case the 15 keys for 1 blood trade shows up

sometimes I also do the ambrosia = 500 darkness deal if there's a talent I really want

I don't pay much attention to the other trades

Oh I've been using whatever has the darkness boost thing and slowly upgrading what I remember being good on each weapon. Nemesis for sword Zeus for shield hera or Charon for bow zag for fist and Eris for rail

I don't like spear so I just don't pour anything into it

I mostly goes with damage control, increased enemies counts in standard encounters, armored enemies have special perks, and also extreme measures up to 3

So, a question. If I have a god's keepsake and it pops up among choice of two doors, and I choose the other door, how does that affect the future?

Your keepsake is visible under your core boons to the left. Right under it is a use counter, when its effect is consumed the count will go from 1 to 0/nothing. So if you delay getting the god forced by the keepsake the game will try to give it to you again later. However if the biome is ending you might not get the chance. So delaying it does not guarantee that you see it again

Is there a point in avoding normal boon to hopefully get a boss room boon of the same god while early in the biome?

Yes, but only if the reward youre delaying it for is worth it, usually another god. For example some builds rely on duo boons which require 2 gods. In that case delaying the guaranteed god for the other god of the build is generally worth it. Sometimes it can also be worth doing if you have a chaos gate/shop to skip the combat. If you're just doing it to push it to midboss and get a rarity boost then no it's not worth it at all. The keepsake itself grants a rarity boost anyway.

I’ve actually never gotten a duo boon before ! I usually use Athena’s deflect-dash and dash a lot, then Dionysus’ hangover-attack. I’d have to see what their duo is (if they have one)

(So everyone but chaos who isn’t an olympian and hermes who isn’t a regular olympian)

An easy way to sort of categorise things is anything that hits slow and hard wants +% like aphrodite or artemis or athena, and anything that is fast but doesn’t hit for a lot of damage per hit wants flat damage like zeus or dionysus or ares

so like bow you want to really make use of that high base damage output so you use a +% strike

while fists or rail would rather zeus strike because it adds a lot of damage per hit to their many hits

Hell mode starts you with 5 of them forced on you.

Realistically, is more of an annoyance early game than actually difficult

You also can't use god mode (20% dmg resistance, goes up by 2% each death until it caps at 80%)

There are a number of things you can do to make sure you’re hitting the duos you want

First thing is making extra sure that you have the boons required for them to be “open” (available)

Next, if any of your cores (strike/special/cast/dash) are empty, they’ll force one option to be a core every boon you pick up, effectively reducing your base duo/leg chance from from like ~32% per boon pick up (12% for every option) to 22%

Lastly, if the god doesn’t by default apply a status curse (like hangover or weak) with their boons, they will have a status curse inflicting boon (like razor shoals or jolted) that will take a priority option 50% of the time, further reducing your odds down to the base 12%

so you want to make sure you meet the requirements, fill your cores, and take status curse boons to maximise your odds

and then rarity boosting effects (aside from Exclusive Access) typically have a +10% duo/legendary chance attached to them which is applied per boon rolled (so 12% -> 22%)

These are meta options, but some do really depend on your build and your goal (speedrunning or high heat).
Fiery Presence vs Shadow kind of depends on the weapon but not really.
Stubborn vs Death Defiance just depends on which one is worse for you, boss fights or the average room.
Infernal Soul vs Stygian Soul is either build dependent on which cast you're building around, otherwise it's a trade-off of potential utility to slightly better hermes odds (infernal vs stygian).
Thick Skin vs High Confidence depends on whether or not you're speedrunning.
That's pretty much it for important decisions

i am pretty new but one thing I'd add is that if your main attack is something like dio or aphro that gives a debuff then privileged status might be better than family favorite since you're already halfway to 2 debuffs

e.g. if you are using chiron bow with aphro attack and dio special privilged status is basically just a free 40%
but on most weapons family fav is better

Hello, everyone. I have a (or rather a combination of-) questions that have to do with completionism.

My goal is to complete the fated list in game and all 50 achievements on Steam. Currently I'm trying to knock out the Duo Boon list that I have never gone for or rather not got during my regular runs.

How can I bend the RNG in my favour to give me the biggest chance of getting them? Even with max. number of rerolls + the Arcana card that gives bonus chance to spawn a duo boon, I'm not 14 runs into trying to get the Apollo + Zeus Duo Boon and it just refuses to spawn. On my 2nd monitor I have the prerequisit list and TRUST ME I QUADROUPLE CHECKED to make sure I did the thing correctly.

Any tips?

Also I just can't get the Chaos boon Chant to spawn. I've tried over 20x to line up getting a purple infusion and then spawn a second portal down, but it just won't happen and I'm so frustrated about it not lining up, no matter how often I try.

once you beat the final boss, you unlock the pact of punishment (heat)
then you get bounties on each weapon that have heat requirements
to earn each bounty, complete a run with at least as much heat as the bounty requires
with each new bounty, the boss rewards are refreshed so you can get titan blood from furies

every time you complete a bounty the required heat for the next one increases by 1. The max heat req for a bounty is 20

Once ||Asterius|| is down, get the other one to its big second phase call attack and SHRED their health bar while they aren’t blocking

Hi guys, till now I have probably made 9 runs and still not been able to beat the 2nd boss. Also I still dont have a preferred weapon. Could you guys tell me which weapon should I stick to beat the game for the first time?

use athena blessing, its easy to beat the snake using athena deflect blessing

Any weapon is good for beating the first time, none of their deficiencies show this early in the game

Focus on getting keys to unlock all the weapons because you get an additional unlock after doing so

tbf ive not really played with ares' dash, but feels like it wouldnt be that good on anything that doesnt have a fat hitbox and is mostly stationary like hydra

• it locks you out of other better dashes

here are some general tips that might save you some hp while getting to the boss,

you should be using your dash to cancle attack animations, many attacks have a backswing animation after the hitbox is thrown out that can be cancled into a dash or dash attack. an obvious example is the sword special
after the shockwave comes out you can immediately input a dash or dashattack, this just lets you get out more actions and minimises the time you are vunerable while commited to an action

for hydra spesifically really only the main head is threatening,
for all the small heads they will pull back and then do a bite or whatever, just look out for the first one and they will mostly go down before they even attack a second time,
if you see the main head comming toward you when you are dealing with the small heads you can run to the other side of the arena and fight the small heads there, the main head will go toward you, away from the original small heads you were dealing with and you can go finish them off

when the main head is active i recomend hiding behind one of the two obsticles, this is especially druing the last phase since it starts spitting alot of fast projectiles, you can also do this during the second damage phase
the last phase has one attack that is what might usually get you, it he does 3 slams instead of one so you dont want to muscle memory and dash in after the first slam lands lol

oh and you never want to be just pressing the attack button repeatidy to do the fill attack pattern

even if you dont learn the "ideal" attack cycle for weapons, they usually have one move in the cycle that is rly slow that you shoudl cancle with a dash attack

i use it a lot and find that its esy to stand on the hydra and dash, leaving the blade rift to do a lot of damage. it seems like it would be better on fat stationary targets, not worse. thats just me though and ur probably a lot more skilled at the game

it's a roguelite, so every upgrade you get during each escape attempt lasts only for that specific escape attempt
however, any upgrades you get between attempts, like from the mirror of night, are permanent
the story should progress naturally over the course of your attempts, though at some point you'll have to actually succeed in your escape attempts. don't worry if it takes you a while, it's a hard game! (especially early on)

bonds are raised through nectar at first but usually require ambrosia starting with the "locked" heart

hi. i just started playing hades a day ago. and it's so addicting

its around a 50% chance of getting it on the second tunnel, 75% for by third i think
you can count on getting it on the second tunnel pretty often, the third most of the time if you dont get it on the second and worst case the fourth

the miniboss (skull) tunnels are usually concidered both faster and easier than the regular ones, you should do those as your first and second tunnels

if you arent finished by then i would pick the normal reward i want for the last tunnel and get it for free more often than not

My typical recommendations if you’re trying to effectively use your early titans blood are these (by weapon)

Sword: nemesis (main functionality is gained at level 1, subsequents just improve it)
Spear: achilles (needs a few more levels)
Shield: zeus (main functionality at level 1)
Bow: hera (lvl 1 functionality) zag (needs more levels, also isn’t as crazy absurd but is less input heavy)
Fists: demeter (needs more levels)
Rail: eris (always good) or hestia (hestia needs lots of levels)

although if you’re really drawn to an aspect, you can absolutely go for it

I’d recommend putting a level into any of the ones I said only really need 1 level for their main functionality though, to guarantee you always have a solid aspect for that weapon (nemesis, hera, zeus)
