it requires having gifted both nyx and dusa fairly often, like to their locked i think

you dont really skip narrative dialogue in hades, so its not like you're never going to see that arc play out, it's going to happen eventually

idr if you need to open the for them but i do know they both need to have high affinity for the firing arc

and ofc due to how the dialogue system works, you may not even see it for a while, since the game just checks that you've met x minimum requirements for dialogue, and whatever is available to you is chosen at random when you speak to an npc

certain dialogue is weighted with higher priority than others but sometimes it doesnt always work out that way lol

What would happen if... hypothetically

Thanatos died?

Would he respawn in the pool of styx like we see Zag do or because he is descended from Nyx is it different?

I'm writing a fanfic and this is crucial because i could either have him respawn in the pool or i was thinking Than could respawn at the Eldest sigil... because idk

Anyways if anyone has any ideas on how Thanatos would come back after dying please lemme know

So here's my theory
We know that when Hades gets killed by Zag he respawns from the pool, and one of his death quotes is "Charon, take me home"

We also know from the Erebus codex that it's the place shades go to be sorted after they die (presumably dropped off by Charon)

So I think Charon decides, in a sense. When someone dies they end up in the Styx, and Charon can decide whether they get deposited at Erebus or the house

Or, those with enough authority can decide which option they want

however however, another factor is that both Hades and Zag aren't "natural" Chthonics, so it can be that the Styx treatment is reserved for them, ie those who were not born with power over the Underworld, but instead acquired it at the price of being bound to it

which means you can make up your own way that Thanatos respawns and it won't conflict with game lore

||does her “bedroom confession scene” take a while? i’ve fully romanced her (full hearts, and giving all of my ambrosia to her despite being so expensive haha) but it’s been a lot of escape runs and i haven’t seen her enter zagreus’ bedroom or anything like that.

Tbf idk what they would bring to the game, as their potential status effects are either going to be unoriginal or absolutely busted

Unique boons and themes would be weird as well. Daedalus hammers could be a theme for Hephaestus but those are already crazy. I cant think of a single type of status effect that would be good for him either that isn’t repeated by other gods. Burn (damage over time) is the same as hangover, and if you made it slow enemies or decrease damage at the same time, it would be completely op

As for Apollo, something about solar flares, I guess? Not a great idea, seeing I’d imagine it to be a lot like doom. The only thing that would be cool is if the cast was a huge pillar of fire that penetrates enemies, but that would be a little unbalanced I think

Solar flare is not the only thing apollo have. Why not music or dance? Apollo's call would be like zagreus dancing and singing similar to things you see in kpop

I just see that as inconsistent. Also, it's not like they describe why the Styx is a river of blood. It's not described as such in the myths, yet with this interpretation...I guess it could be due to the blood of the dead as it seeps into the Underworld perhaps?

So the question is why Zag melts into it when he dies in any place. Hmm. The Styx is also the goddess of binding oaths, and the common theme there is that both Hades and Zag know it very well that they are bound to the Underworld. It would make sense if that's Styx forcefully making them keep that promise when they die or whatever, but as you've said, Tisiphone and Alecto~

Hold on a moment, I just realised. Are you sure they aren't taken by the Styx when they die? Because I can picture it in my head from the many times I've defeated them in game. And if that's the case, it's said that they're not welcome in the house due to Hades making it so. He's still got control over almost all of the underworld, so if he made a request to Styx not to wash the two fury sisters to his house, I don't see why she wouldn't honour that request. Does that make sense?

I think that if they're taken by the river, they respawn in a different area in Tartarus. 'Cause, like, even Meg has to walk all the way to the last biome of Tartarus to "stop" Zag, so her sisters might as well do that, but from different areas

They're all active in different areas of Tartarus doing their job, but anytime Zag is close to the edge of Tartarus, it's likely that Hades assigns the one closest to Zag to stop him. Or alternatively, there's a rotation shift for every escape attempt that Zagman makes, given how they treat it like, you know, business.

Styx drops Meg at the house when she gets slain, while her sisters probably get left at random places in Tartarus to continue their work. No doubt Alecto and Tisiphone might have a homebase of their own.

Story wise it’s explained by the fact that his role in mythology is more intertwined with the underworld than the other olpympians (see Charon, his colleague). Gameplay wise it’s explained by him not having any “core” boons like the other gods, they are supplementary and related to casting or movement

Ironic, isn't it? He's more intertwined with the cthonic gods (and well, he'd be the only one you could actually meet before the crew comes down to the house party, but of course you can't see him for obvious reasons), yet he only hands out sparse boons in a hurry. It's fitting.

Then again, I can't imagine how he hasn't decided to actually come across Zag once when he was up at the Temple of Styx since they're both on their jobs in the same places sometimes. But I suspect Hermes knows a lot more about the situation than he lets on, so maybe he's avoiding potentially sparking the war. Which is funny given how he's the trickster figure of the pantheon - but unlike Loki, he isn't malevolent about it (mostly).

Dark foresight mirror upgrade can make hammers show up earlier but the second one will never be earlier than elysium, mostly just luck you need

Rather, it's more that he's projecting his own weakness, fear and insecurity at not being able to change the situation around the house and his wife (he is risking war after all). So all that is externalised as a resistance reaction against his son since Zagreus is the only one stubbornly trying to change things.

Zag also has significantly less to lose, and he's younger so he feels he's invincible (especially since he can't be killed in the UW...perhaps unless you gave him the Kronos treatment).

Hades is also venting, but the reason he finds it hard to change is because 1) it's a god thing, and he's quite old by divine standards (imagine your boomer grandpa x100) 2) his family is jaded against him and knows the consequences of risking their ire as Persephone ran away without their say so, and 3) sunk cost fallacy and habits after having been a terrible father to Zag for so long. Yet still, you can see him try to make Zag convince himself that the UW is inherently better and has everything, just as he did so as to forget about his wife.

You also have to understand that Hades (deep down) is quite the lonely type so the prospect of never seeing his wife again is particularly painful. What's a person to do in that situation but have their heart turn to steel?

So think how he feels when Zag (the only person he has left whom he cares about) wants so desperately to leave? Suddenly doing everything to stop that makes sense. The fear of abandonment is strong in this one.

I personally respect him - sure, if you don't stand up to him and without mum to keep some of his more negative aspects in check, he's quite abusive and manipulative (and that was during the worst of it). But in comparison to the rest of the Olympian household, he's far more decent a person - and the game at least does show that he's earnestly trying to change, through actions if not words. He also imparts a lot of good qualities and lessons both to Zag and the players if they care to listen.

Well, dusa’s brethren in asphodel keep their forms, and the other 4 (Achilles, orpheus, Patroclus and Eurydice) are either very well known (seeing how Theseus maintained his form as the champion) or were under contracts from the house

To be fair, I suppose Achilles and Orpheus’ maintained forms can be attributed to them working for the house, I suppose? But head chef and the broker don’t have any resemblance to what would be their alive selves so I’d say it’s their fame keeping them in their original forms

And I guess asterius counts as well

Something in common that all shades retaining their forms have are their pretty widespread legends. They’re all involved in some famous myth, which like I said, could help them keep their shape

The fallen in elysium are noticeably more realistic than the wretches in Tartarus, with more accurately sized bodies, half-decent proportions and even actual weapons that they used

So the greater the person, the more they get to retain their shape?

The deeper reason is because Zeus is a paranoid b-...uhm, so yeah he's afraid of anyone potentially standing as a threat to his rule. Persephone running to the underworld could be seen (through a skewed lens) as her colluding with Hades to plot against him.

the game is not immediately reactive to the things you do, rather it checks that you've met certain requirements to quests and the appropriate dialogue is added to your pool of available dialogue that can come up. in cases where you need to have certain things equipped to get dialogue, you need to keep trying with that item equipped to get the dialogue. you're not guaranteed at getting specific dialogue
