@vestal eagle So, the HadesCommands.txt should be in the right place if it's on your C:\ drive (which I'm assuming is your system drive). If your system drive is not C:\ it might need to be in a different location

I'm looking to cover the very small chance you weren't served the latest update. From the log it looks like no options are loaded at all from HadesCommands

Yeah /SkipProfileLoad will reset most of the configs to default, which would change your volume

I've been looking through the code here. My suspicion is either that the driver isn't reporting the native resolution mode (unlikely) or it's getting screened out. Last combination omits the X & Y:

What GPU you have and do you enabled any resolution scaling? Similar to DLSS or AMD up-scaling, which basically create virtual screen resolutions and then when something starts working on it, it apply it's algorithm?

Hi guys I seem to be having major issues getting Hades to save at all after switching computers. Everything in game seems to think it's saving. It creates the Hades save folder again if I delete it but the folder appears to just be permanently empty. I get no errors and the game seems to think it's saving fine but when I return to the menu the file selects are always blank. Been fighting this for a few days now.

Heyo—there are some things to try in #h1-tech-fixes , I'd take a look there. Most likely, you need to whitelist the game through your antivirus and/or Windows Controlled Folder Access/Windows Defender

If you're going through GamePass, it wouldn't be using the Saved Games / Hades folder anyway, as far as I know.

So I can get to the WGS folder there and it is empty as well at this point I'm about ready to just give up. There is no reason in the world for this to not be working. At a bare minimum I'd expect a log file or an error but there is just nothing.

I have a problem with my screen resolution since Epic updated the game today. I'm playing on a 3440x1440 display. Until today the game worked just fine with the borders on both sides cropping it to 16:9. Now it just streches the game to 21:9. I already tried to change the resolution and switch between windowed and fullscreen, but the borders refuse to come back.

The devs are aware of some resolution issues with the most recent update and are looking into it. Those options may temporarily fix the issue.

Hey mate. 95% sure the issue you are having is because the list of resolutions supported is too long and thus the one you actually want -- 3440 x 1440 -- is not displayed in the settings, because there are too many smaller resolutions already. Hades is a bit quirky when it comes to handling resolutions, but you can fix it easily:

• Go to your Hades save file directory (you said it's in D:\Dossier windows\Documents\Saved Games\Hades I believe)
• Open ProfileX.sjson with a text editor (e.g. notepad) -- there may be multiple ProfileX.sjson files, one for each of your in-game save slots
• Set WindowWidth and X to 3440, set WindowHeight and Y to 1440, then save the file.
• Voilà! Start the game and it should be good.

PPS: Semi-related so I hope it's okay mentioning in passing: I'm the author of a mod called Hephaistos adding ultrawide support to Hades, if you want to try out Hades in ultrawide.
PPPS: note to SGG/Dexter if you see this: I think adding a scrollbar to resolution list or even reversing the order to display biggest resolutions first would suffice. I expect not many people run the lowest available resolutions on their monitors 😄 EDIT: this was referring to how the game behaved pre-update, there is a bug right now in resolution logic but would be a nice touch for folks that inadvertently change their resolution and then can't back to their native monitor res because of that 😄

With regards to the save file location, the file names are also changed as a result of GamePass' system. The devs have created a launch option command to simulate deleting the .sjson file, but normally the launch options would override what was set there, so this seems to be a wider issue.

You have more context so perhaps I am stating stupid stuff, but: I don't think the issue is related to the ProfileX.sjson values, rather I think the letterboxing viewport logic or resolution detection logic has a bug. In my case it seems Hades refuses to use ultrawide resolutions, when forcing WindowWidth / WindowHeight and X / Y in ProfileX.sjson to my native monitor resolution (3840x1600), they get reset on game start to 2560x1600 (which is the closest 16:9 resolution available on my monitor)

I can do that, though in this case I would tend to think a ping might be useful: it seems to me this issue is in category "very very annoying". Basically it looks like the game only accepts a fixed list of 9 resolutions from monitor (which has been previously sorted from smallest to largest and very small resolutions filtered out). If correct, anyone with a monitor with enough resolutions cannot play in native resolution anymore, as the native will always be last 😅

You need to you delete the files from Documents/Saved Games/Hades while the game is open on Steam - it'll recognize you don't want them anymore and remove them from the cloud

Good morning. Sorry to bother but I seem to be having a similar problem with the game on XBox One (regular install, not Game Pass) where the game will just randomly crash. To make everyone aware, this problem only occurs when the game is updated beyond disc installation I have already run through every bit of recommended advice for fixing this issue, from deleting save files to reinstalling the game, to running a complete system reset. The only fix seems to be to keep the game from updating beyond the disc content.

Looping back on this: I am 95% sure the root cause analysis was correct, as I have managed to bypass the issue by jumping over the monitor resolution detection logic and forcing Hades to use a static resolution. A fix will ship in the next version of Hephaistos as a workaround until the next game update 🙂

Unfortunately, that's a part of how the game tracks your progress, I believe as a failsafe against accidental deletion. I don't know of a way to fully delete a save file on console ^.^"

Yes and no. It has varied between as little as 30-45 minutes to as much as 2hrs. just to make sure it wasn't another system issue I have checked the console for overheating and other issues, but nothing out of the usual. The only time a problem crops up is after the update is installed.

Hey there - I hadn't played in some time, and decided to link my Switch to my Steam account. After loading in, it put me against one of the furies. I had to put the game down, so I saved and exited and went about my day. When I picked it back up, I saw my old Switch saved data in the slot, no longer allowing me to access the data that I just synced from Steam. I logged onto my Steam account on my PC, and the same Switch saved data is there. Is there a way to retrieve my old data? Furthermore, is there a way to prevent this from happening again?

So, I've been playing Hades for a while, and have noticed some issues with aiming while playing using Controller and Mouse. Specifically, using the analogue stick of the controller for movement (along with the various buttons nearby for the different actions such as dashing, interaction, menus, etc.) and mouse for aiming (with attack, special, and cast mapped to the left, right, and middle click respectively). Most of the time, this works fine as desired, allowing the analog control of movement via the controller, and the more precise aiming of the mouse cursor for attacks and casts (as well as letting me target directions other than the one I'm moving in). However, there is a situation in which problems arise. Any time I begin movement via the analog stick (either beginning movement from rest, or changing direction such that the analog stick passes close to the rest position), the cursor will disappear until I move the mouse again. During this time, casting and dash attacks will go in the direction of movement (normal attacks and specials seem to re-awaken the mouse). No other controller inputs outside movement with the analog stick seem to have this effect. If there is an existing solution, please let me know, otherwise I thought it might be an issue worth bringing to your attention for this or future games, even if controller & mouse usage is a rather niche choice for controls.

I'm playing Hades via the Epic Games Store and I still have the issue with the blurry character models that was supposed to be solved a long time ago. I'm running the game on a RTX 3070 FE using Windows 10 and a 2560x1440 display. The launch options that were discussed multiple times did not help. Both the DirectX and Vulkan executables are affected.

I know this is a known issue past 3000 attempts but I'm only on 1.1k on my Hell Mode save and I found a couple of recordings I have that don't have an analogue in the log.

That does indeed seem to fix the issue. It also prevents the cursor from turning invisible upon starting movement with the analog stick, which the mod fix did not do. As a slightly more debatable feature, it prevents the control prompts swapping between controller and M&K buttons, forcing them to remain M&K prompts (but I'm using a Playstation Navigation controller that steam insists is an Xbox controller, so I kept getting annoyed at the XBox button prompts anyway).

So, this is now the second time this has happened, previous was last night - going down into Erebus, this time from Tartarus. When this happens, dad will do his little introduction, but then the game doesn't progress any further - there's no response to input except the escape key, and no enemies spawn or attempt to fight me. All I can see is Zag's swirly fire bits, that DO move, and music is still playing too
I've updated my graphics drivers, verified file integrity, checked the Supergiant site knowledge base. Nothing seems to match my problem, and adjacent solutions haven't helped either

Hi all! Are there any known bugs for locking progression to final hearts on PS4? I have completed all of the tasks for multiple Olympian Gods and have spoken with each one multiple times since and it is not letting me unlock the final heart.

an example of this is Aries. I even got the trophy for all of the kills and talked with him numerous times after that. It still isn't giving me the option to progress. Another is Aphrodite. I have run into her about 7 times since progressing through the three relationships and the heart is still locked.

Now that they are there it tells me I have accomplished 43/49, but when I count up the number of badges I have vs what I don't, it shows that I have done 45/49. I guess the best way to describe it would the screen freezing, like, I'll be moving around and the screen will freeze (audio continues OK), and when it unfreezes, whatever I had input while frozen had happened, i.e., I'll be moving, freeze, end up somewhere else on the screen when it unfreezes, that sort of thing

I updated my drivers, toggled all the display settings (including lower resolution), tried Vulkan and 32-bit (though I have Nvidia and read DirectX is best with that), added the launch option, tried closing other programs, made sure Hades was running on Nvidia rather than Intel, selected high performance, set my battery to best performance, checked Windows 7 compatibility (correctly off), and disabled Steam overlay

You can transfer it by starting up the game with steam on PC, copying the file I'll send you into the saved games folder, and then closing the game. That should upload it to the Steam cloud

i am pretty sure with the switch you need to change on a per-game basis where it saves data, which can be done from the settings on the home screen although i forget exactly where

and afiak there was a server where your switch would upload your save data if you had NSO, as well as hades itself sending data to a server in anticipation of those who would be getting the steam version on PC so it'd be ready to pull the data at your request within the game

the NSO cloud copy was just for your data backup, like if you got a new switch you could log in and work as any other cloud does

if you want the most up to date file you'd want to get a copy from the NSO, then you would have the most recent save so you could import it to steam with that

And my save is not there! :( I mean, not in the game on save list, because I can see it in my game files on a console. The game stores save data at "D:\Documents\Saved Games\" (I customized where My Documents is located)
No other game I have stores save data there, they'll either store it at "D:\Documents\SavedGames\" or somewhere else.

Both locations mentioned above appear as "Saved Games" in Windows Explorer's left and right pane (with the space between the words) with the true path being visible in the address bar. This is because "D:\Documents\SavedGames\" includes a System Protected desktop.ini file with the following contents to manipulate how the folder appears:

I'm asking for you to move where the save data is placed, so that there's no longer a duplicate of Saved Games in my Documents folder.

Seeing folders with the apparent same name looks like it would be crazy confusing to a lot of software.
In Windows it's badenough if you get folders whose name only differs by case, but these look identical, which shouldn't even be possible normally.

So they have different contents and different timestamps (if you show them in a detailed list view)?
Right clicking and showing their properties would be helpful I think, but that's a really unexpected thing to see in any file system.

Just wondering started using the Excalibur builds recently after unlocking it was noticing despite the aura's function of disabling damage from lava traps and other things you step on it seems to fail to protect you from being poisoned by the puddles giant rats leave all over the place. Unsure if intentional or just an oversight never reported because people thought it was intentional XD

In the File System they are differently named, one has a space between the words and the other does not. It is only visually the same to the end-user because of a hidden system file in one of them manipulating the appearance (the one Hades isn't targeting)

It wouldn't surprise me if Super Giant got mislead by the folder appearing to have a space when it actually doesn't. They might be using a system function to locate My Documents and then manually specifying a folder called Saved Games, instead of the system function for targeting the right place.

What does your Documents look like? Does the folder seemingly appear twice for you in your Documents?

I've worked around this by using a Symbolic Link to link "My Documents\Saved Games\" to the destination "My Documents\SavedGames\", causing all reads and writes to the first path to be rerouted to the second path.

Ah, ok. Have you maybe tried making some space on HDD to see if that helps? However, the errors would usually be different if that'd be that case, but it won't hurt to try. Also, regarding graphic card drivers - I noticed that updating them automatically doesn't always work on Windows, so I'd make sure you're doing it manually and that the version you have installed matches the one on your graphic card's manufacturer website.

Hey all. After last night's Hades Steam update, Hades won't start (stays black screen) on my Fedora Linux system. No other OS updates, tried all 3 variations (d3d, vulkan, 32-bit) and all fixes in tech-fixes tutorial. The only error I see in hades.log is the "can't find profile" error (which is fine, as I removed the sjson) and the stack trace of the actual crash (which I can send if needed). Anyone got an idea what else I could try?

So I bought Hades for me and my brother to play and we share two different computers and I wanted to play so I told him to stop for a while and I played on my computer for 5 hours on save file 2. This morning I woke up and found that save file 2 has been completely removed and only my brothers save file was left so I tried to restore it and found that only save file 1 was there. Nonetheless I tried it anyway and it didn't do anything other then restore my brother's save file.

Here all bounties are not unlocked. Which is how it should be.

Here first 3 Bounties shows they are obtained already, which I have not done.

This is not a bug at all.

Each weapon had a separate level for bounties.

So switching from sword to bow switches to a different record of what bounties you can get.

Putting excess heat on above the minimum does not change the bounties you can get. You are still only getting bounties for the highest incomplete run.

Zagreus even has voice lines which say things like "I won't get any more bounties for this" when you adjust and confirm an excessively high pact.

Ah, that would be why you don't see it, the Xbox stuff is in a different location. Though, the game application isn't in the saved games folder anyway.

Do you have an antivirus software / Windows Defender enabled? If so, I'd check those and make sure they haven't flagged Hades

The exe should be in C:/Program Files/WindowsApps, I don't remember for sure where it is from there but it should be clearly labeled

I have encountered a bug (?) the last two times I played HADES on my switch: when I either enter Hades' boss arena or beat him, the game completely freezes. I can return to the switch main menue where everything works fine, but returning to the game itself, it remains stuck. When i close the game and reload, it starts me back at the very beginning in skelly's room, before I started the run.

Anything I can do to prevent or fix that? It doesn't happen in every run btw

I've been trying to get my Dualsense working properly with Hades since last night but just can't get it to work :/

Connecting to windows 10 over bluetooth. Turned off steaminput, but it still acts like it's an xbox controller in the game (shows xbox button prompts and touchpad doesn't register as a button)

This was on DirectX btw. On Vulkan, the game initially was being very weird with the controller buttons. It showed the correct button prompts but the triggers weren't working, and pushing the left stick rightwards made it register an L2 instead. Trying today, playing with Vulkan or 32-bit won't even register my controller anymore, none of the button presses work.

Nvm, scrolled up and read that this seems to be a known issue at the moment. Hopefully the details I gave help the devs figure out a hotfix

Quick googling showed this as a possible solution:

1. Close the Xbox App.
2. Right-click the Xbox App (in the Start Menu) and go to App Settings.
3. Scroll down and click 'Repair' under the Reset category.
4. Restart the Xbox App and it should (hopefully) work again.

Update: for kicks, i opened a terminal and cd'd to Hades' Vulcan directory and ran wine Hades.exe and it just works. I think something's scuffed with my Proton install. Hades isn't the only game i'm having issues with, but it's spotty.

Are you sure it was Touch of Styx and not Kiss of Styx? Because Touch of Styx will only appear if you have Stubborn Defiance from the Mirror of the Night. It won't appear if you have Death Defiance during your run.

I tried rebuilding/reinstalling but that didn't help either

What seemed to work was installing the latest vc redist as I was missing msvcp140.dll for another game.

I have a my computer hooked up to a TV and use a Steam controller to launch the game and switch over to a 360 controller afterwards, if I don't do it fast enough the game refuses to take input from the 360 controller and only the Steam controller. Hello, love the game but have been running into an issue where the screen freezes while opening the pool of purging. I can input commands and hear sound effects of selling a boon, exiting the pool, and walking around but alt tabbing back to the game shows a black screen that must be force closed in task manager. Please note that the game eventually freezes entirely after the screen itself. I play Vulkan through Steam and have verified drivers, disabled overlays, and when verifying game file integrity it showed 1 file that needed to be reacquired. I restarted the game and same issue at pool of purging, Charon pool, fountains, and the keepsake cabinet work fine. See attached for requested files. Thank you in advance.

According to the log it looks like the animation file for the pool is corrupted. Since the problem didn't change after verifying, I'd assume the cause is still the same too despite Steam saying it was reacquiring the file. You may need to restart your computer to apply Steam's fix verification, or restart and try the verification again.

found a (possibly) niche audio bug on Switch but forgot to clip it, so here goes:
entered Chaos gate and immediately used a wide attack (bow special) to get money pots, hitting Nyx in the process (whoops)
quickly dash to the boon to pick it up
and now I have Nyx's greeting lines (like the short clips she says when you pop into Chaos with her there) playing on loop. It suppressed Chaos' line and persists into the boon selection screen

Can anyone help with save data not working on the Switch? I’m not playing cross platform; it’s only on the Switch. When I got to Elysium in every chamber when I would try to quit it said that I was giving up and would lose my progress. I chose quit anyway thinking it was a bug and lost all my progress predictably, but it still has my data of everything I had from that run. I did another run and lost my data again the same way. I tried doing a short run to test it out only going to the first chamber and this time it actually said that I would be able to keep my data when I quit. When I quit tho it still brought me back to the same room with Skelly with all my progress lost. I’m really at a loss for what’s going on

I forgot to mention that I was playing on god mode when it said I would lose my progress if I quit even though it’s never done that to me on god mode before. I turned god mode off for the short run tho.

I'd try verifying the game files integrity, as it seems something's weird with saving...
From the HOME Menu, select System Settings
Scroll down the options on the left and select Data Management.
On the right-hand side select Manage Software, then select the software you would like to check (Hades).
Select Check for Corrupt Data.

If that doesn't help, try reinstalling the game completely.

Heya, for the past 10 or so hours of gameplay my xbox one controller has been having problems. every once in a while, whenever im not pressing any buttons the game decides to stop taking inputs from my controller. If i tab out of the game and come back it comes back but it gets really annoying when im in the middle of a run :/

And idk what the special launch properties command thingy does specifically but I tried it and it did not fix the problem

Heyo—could you try setting the launch options /AllowControlHotSwap=false /UseMouse=false ? That may do the trick.

The controller hasn't had a hiccup as of yet, which is great, but all the button prompts are for keyboard now
