Looking at the wiki, and yeah...not a great weapon at all. It's got good power...but that's it.

Basically it's power lets you pin it with an arrow with your "special" and if I'm reading this right it shares damage from other enemies you attack.

I think the shield is a very safe option if you get used to using the block
