you could add it as a non-steam game if you want to launch it from steam, but youll still need EGS for updates and such, and it wont have steam's features like achievements and trading cards (when they are added)

Perfect catches are easier if you try to focus on a single sensory input. Some people use the sound cue, others the light column. Then it is a matter of pressing the button immediately. In many cases, the fish will let the floater bob three times and bite on the last, fourth one. That allows you to react immediately without fear of a fakeout.

You still have to wait for the timer after reloading. Canceling the reload animation with dash does basically nothing. I'd only use my dashes for positioning and i-frames.

There's a certain amount of leeway you have in designing the balance in a single player game (especially compared to a multiplayer game), so some things can be very busted. However, there is a limit. The need to nerf certain things comes from the fact that if one option is just better than any other choice, it turns into a "dominant strategy." That stuff causes weird things to happen to your difficulty curve. And in a roguelike, the difficulty curve is the entire engagement point for the player.

For a reductive and generalized example, if there was a hammer upgrade that said "if you pick this up, you can one-shot every enemy in the game." Every time you get it, the game becomes trivial (and therefore not engaging). On the other hand, if you DON'T get it and you lose, you feel like the game screwed you because it "bad RNG-ed" you into not having the OP hammer, essentially warping the entire game experience towards the Hammer.

Now, I'm not saying that the original explosion hammer was like this. But it gives us a glimpse of why SG would want to keep weapons/options "balanced" to a relative degree, especially if some of their design goals for Hades include stuff like encouraging player expression via their builds, or having a certain experience from the difficulty curve.

Exagryph's basic attack is definitely powerful. That's why it's so "limited" compared to the others. It has ammo AND doesn't stagger.

Its ammo is almost a non-issue once you get in the habit of canceling it with some combination of special, cast, and dodge.

Also, @high island , with the heat system, there's really no way to ever break the game. It gets to the point where you have to try and break the game and min-max your face off in order to stand a chance (like 40+ heat)

That doesn't work very well at all with FO2 and EM3. He'll very often just zip around the pillar instead.
