So I've been thinking of some more stuff for the mechanics of Angel & King, and the idea I have is that you can apply augments to your weapons that are based on mythic materials.

The basis is that both Jeremiah and Samuel have both an armament and a medium, with the armament never changing but being able to be augmented and the mediums being interchanged but powered up along the way. Armaments are a part of their bodies (Jer's talons and Sam's wings), which are used as their method of using abilities and their base attack method, and then there are mediums, which are used as secondary weapons and can be wielded by either of them, though the form taken is slightly different with them (The sword is a claymore with Jeremiah while it's instead a falchion with Samuel due to the differences in their stature)
Then they both have two unique abilities that can be swapped out and combined together to increase their effects, and a unique joint effect which is an ultimate ability of sorts that the two perform in tandem with one another.
To further represent the whole 'two as one' deal of their romantic infatuation with each other, any augments that one of them uses will inevitably effect the other to some extent. This includes with their mediums, the augments to their armaments, and their abilities.

I thought FFVIIR was... okay. Maybe even good. It wasn't anything special though, and so much of what's in it is filler. They also do a couple of things that undermine the strengths of the original. In particular, the introduction of a major character is done with a heavy-handedness that undermines any ability that character has to feel genuinely threatening or mysterious.
In a lot of ways, the original FFVII is a glorious mistake. So much of what made it succeed hinged on luck and interpretation. The moment that cemented its legacy was a mid-development decision, its translation was an absolute mess, various features were straight-up unfinished etc. etc.
Everything that's added to the world of FFVII since has diminished aspects of it--even the spinoffs people actually liked! Crisis Core heavily featured the artist's Gary-Stu as a major character, played by his favourite real-world musician.

Since then projects have taken too long to complete and they've all been messy as hell in one way or another. FFXV had some good parts (the bond between the boys felt authentic), but its storytelling was just bad and it took over a decade to complete.

You can skip all the gameplay parts and still beat the end boss. The enemies level with you.
The thing that struck me about XV was that so many very important events--to the boys and to the narrative--have no impact or are told off-screen. The perfect example of this is the guys finding out about their home Kingdom (and in two cases, their fathers being killed) through a vaguely solemn scene in a hotel room. As the player, that has no meaning to us because we've not seen the familial relationships at all, nor have we formed any attachment to the Kingdom. There's no weight.
With FFVII, Reno drops the plate on Sector 7 after you've spent a good long time there, likewise VI waits until you've explored the world to tear it apart, and XI has you explore several towns and cities before and after devastating attacks.

@obsidian timber I can't find a good source for that version of the Persephone myth that isn't modern. I know the most common version is that Hades fell in lust with Persephone but knew Demeter wouldn't let him marry her, so he bursts from the ground where Persephone is hanging with friends and drags her down into the Underworld.
There are a lot of versions with this basic premise. In some, Zeus helps Hades abduct her, the number of pom seeds he gives her varies from tale to tale, sometimes she does choose to eat them without prompting (though, without the knowledge she'll be trapped), there are versions where Hecate or Hermes, or some other god helps her get back home, or tricks her down there and so on.
However, since Demeter and Persephone were generally worshipped together, Persephone is always shown wanting to return to her mother and is generally disliking of her time in the Underworld. Her agency and her desires are fulfilled not by being with Hades, but by reuniting with Demeter.
I definitely have an issue with modern tales that seek to 'give Persephone agency' by vilifying her mother and making that relationship the one of obligation, while absolving her abductor.

You realize that's not the myth I believe? The version I believe is where she willfully entered the underworld, and Hades just did a dumb because he's an absolute dork and gave her the pom. She doesn't hate Demeter, she just loves her husband as well, and is happy when on the surface and in the underworld.
And yes, Hades is a dork, Cerberus means 'Spotted', he literally named his massive three-headed Chthonic dog 'Spot'.

However, Ancient Greece had... interesting views about women, so their casting of such would not necessarily be favourable. From the perspective of a modern Hellenic Wiccan, a reassessment is understandable.

@hexed charm @faint panther Hades on Windows uses DirectX or Vulkan (user's choice) for rendering, and there is no native Linux build afaik (they need to use Proton). I believe Mac is in the same boat as PC, but I don't know for sure. Internally, they're using the Forge engine iirc

I haven't really had an issue with this server until this evening when i got my messages removed 3 times for swearing, and i kind of wanted to make a rant about the issue... First off, want to preface by saying this whole issue could be solved if i could retrieve my post and edit the one F bomb i used out of the 3 paragraphs i typed. So I ( or anyone else) wouldn't have ponder whether typing it all again is worth it, and we can stay PG.
that being said, this is where the rant comes in... I understands dat the hi n mighty intectuals thinkith swearing be da uncouth's man tongue. be me thinkist it be more down to earth and blase to approach language with the option to drop that occasional curse.
