Hi, I don't know where to put this so I'm sorry moderators.
I'm an English Literature student at undergraduate level at university. For one of my classes, which looks at dystopia and genre-fiction, we're supposed to write a coursework essay on a piece of media / series. I have permission from my professor to use the themes and dialogue of Hades & Hades II for my coursework, instead of one of the core texts.
I was wondering if anyone knows of or has a database of all the dialogue of the games, that I'd be able to access and cite, in order to complete my work? It won't be published or anything but it takes up a large portion of my final grade, and I'd really like a good source before I have to go trawl through Tumblr / Google / TikTok / Twitter / etc to find the specific piece of dialogue I need.

So here's what SGG #6 is definitely going to be: Party-based RPG with all 5 "main" characters of their games so far, with all 4 of Logan's narrators fighting over the narration.

The Kid and Red are going to be utility/healers, with the Kid being an equipment guy and Red being a slightly more traditional white mage. Jodi is your jack-of-all-trades and is probably going to end up as the leader of the party (Mr. Nobody gets shooped into the narrator bundle but Red can still hear him). Zag is s p e e d and hits hard for just how insanely fast he is. Mel is almost as fast, significantly squishier, and hits harder than the next two DPS characters combined.

the game lets you pick between characters referring to you as "she"/feminine terms and "he"/masculine terms but you could also choose neutral terms

which i actually really liked, because every character has a nickname for the reader, and volfred's nickname is "my boy" or "my girl" iirc. but the gender neutral one is "my kin", that i really like regardless. to me it sounds less patronizing (so to speak) and more like youre included in this grand plan :)

My idea for Hades 3 was a bit different. Since we have: escape the underworld (Hades 1), get back to the underworld (Hades 2), and get to Olympus (also Hades 2) i thought the final step in that maybe could be escape Olympus, or Greece all together. The hidden aspects had been teasing other places so maybe the story could follow a god trying to leave Greece and find a new home somewhere else (maybe the path could be Egypt -> India -> China -> Japan)

i just cant really decide on the MC being Eubuleus (a son of Pluto who is technically Hades) or Makaria (a goddess who likely didnt exist)

both arent perfect options

but i feel like alternating gender would make the most sense, going male mc -> female mc -> male mc

Just want to post my appreciation for Hades 1 & 2 real quick! I just finished the main story in Hades 2 last night and my god it's so good 😭
These games are incredible works of art, narratively, visually, musically, and gameplay wise. Hades 1 was the first game I ever got 100% achievements on and I aim to do that with 2 as well.
I thought, how could they follow up on such a complete masterpiece as Hades 1? It reminded me of an interview with Brad Bird of Pixar after the original Incredibles was made and people were asking if there would be a sequel. He said something like, we told the most interesting part of the Parr family story in Incredibles already. There's no plans for more because their story is complete, but if some worthy idea comes along then maybe... And boy did it ever! So yeah, Supergiant. In my mind you're the golden age Pixar of gaming! Thank you!

I first played Bastion and Hades not knowing they were from the same developers.
When i joined this discord i also picked up Transistor and Pyre.

Bastion, Hades and Pyre i all liked (Hades series and Pyre in my list of best games of all time). Also started playing Hades 2 in like patch 2 of early access. Transistor is the only one i didn’t really enjoy (i suck at the combat), but maybe i should give it another chance

Pretty interesting how the games are all so different, but also all so good

Hey guys, played only Hades and Hades 2 so far. Gonna plan to play all the other games aswell - which one should I start with?

Bastion as the earliest, it's also the most similar as an action game with several weapons (although that one's level based)
Transistor is still an action game, but mixes it up with a pause that lets you plan turns, and abilities are more like boons that you can assign to different buttons
Pyre is a unique cross between visual novel and a 3v3 sports game with equipment, and a reactive narative that was a big part in developing Hades' style

I would probably recommend Bastion first

I really liked the character writing, world building, and music of Pyre so I’m down for another Pyre-like. I wasn’t a big fan of the rite gameplay though so I think I’d enjoy something more like a traditional CRPG.

Though SG has done a lot of fantasy games, I’d enjoy another sci-fi game (either distant or near-future). I loved Transistor’s aesthetic

I'm going to warn against playing Pyre until after Bastion and Transistor because you are going to want so much character work after Pyre and their first two games have very tight casts.

There is an issue with linux version of the game, I hope developers would fix it cause:

• (most important) the fix is trivial.
• game preservation.
• advent of GabeCube.
• some people are upset about current state of Windows and exploring Linux.

There is also this quote from steam forums, not sure who this person is, but anyway:
"I've sent patched binaries but they haven't been uploaded yet. Will ask them one more time!"

I've done some searching, and it seems that the person that patched binaries is Ethan Lee, in his portfolio he has ports of Bastion, Transistor and Pyre to macOS/Linux.
Not sure how much work from developers is required to create a Steam update if fixed binaries are available, but I hope it will be eventually done.

If they want to patch a previous game to run (/run better) for upcoming popular hardware then yeah that's entirely their own prerogative?

For what it's worth I agree that it's a good idea and if it's doable then worth consideration - even if just so they can have a better presence on Steam Deck and the upcoming new hardware.

But game development (and publishing) isn't always as simple as "duh just update the game with a community provided solution" so if they choose not to, there will likely be good reasons behind it.

A lot more goes into patching an old game than most people realise - especially if it's been a while since the last one 😁

None are really like Hades (Bastion and Transistor have combat but well it‘s different, and Pyre is fantasy basketball). So the usual suggestion is chronologically, Bastion -> Transistor -> Pyre

Pyre is my absolute favorite out of all of them. I'd actually put Hades and Hades 2 near the bottom just because the first were so good and the story was told straightup, in that you could sit there and just really take it in. Plus to me the music is way more iconic to the games. I can immediatly tell you which game a song was from because it evoked that game and that scene, where Hades 1/2, while great music, needed to be a lot more varied and a lot longer due to how much more time you'll be spending in it

Don't let "holy basketball" dissuade you from Pyre either. I hate sports games, and I loved that game to pieces. I tear up through the story every time I play it. I mean, all the games do, but Pyre really gets me in the feels due to the comraderie that you build with your peoples and everything that happens. Also, Sandra is best girl

I’ve started saves like 3 separate times in Pyre and have had to stop playing just because of how stressful the story is. I mean this in the best way possible. It isn’t the stress of jump scares in a horror game, it’s the stress of navigating the freedom of the exiles and the constant pressure of failing rites. The story will continue no matter what, and that somehow makes things feel so much more real.

well I was thinking maybe you guys could do a similar style but using egyptian mythology, and the main character being horus and set is the main boss of the game. and he has to make his way through the underworld. he can use boons from different gods etc
