If you've only done a few runs then you have just scratched the surface

fickle drum
#

No no, I've not gone there yet.

red fox
nova oar
#

I wasn't literally talking about the surface region

fickle drum
#

I got Moros to the crossroads. And I started the process to make the ingredient for undoing the ward.

fickle drum
nova oar
#

Fair warning, it's alot harder than the underworld

red fox
#

But give you more power at beginning

fickle drum
#

I'll check it out anyway.

nova oar
#

Depends on experience and build knowledge u gotta really take advantage of it

fickle drum
#

Like what's the worst that can happen, being sent back to the start? XD

fickle drum
#

Oh also I get my ass whooped by the tiny vermin for some reason.

#

But I've never died to Hecate even once.

nova oar
#

Yeah hecate is pretty much the easiest boss

fickle drum
#

Is there any point to Artemis' Keepsake? Does it really only work for one region?

red fox
#

High risk high rewards

nova oar
#

Most people, me included, use it in the 4th region

fickle drum
#

Only 30 health for the final boss?

#

Or can you swap at the end shop?

nova oar
fickle drum
#

I only unlocked swapping just now so I haven't used it yet.

red fox
#

You can have armor

fickle drum
#

You can also not have armor :p

nova oar
#

Armour and lovers does make it alot more comfortable

fickle drum
#

Oh I haven't figured out what I want from the cards yet. I should probably unlock them all.

If you remove the Artemis Keepsake does it restore any health gains you obtained?

fickle drum
#

I guess I'll just rank it up by using it in the first region for now.

nova oar
#

I wouldn't recommend it but go for your life

fickle drum
#

Scylla gives me a lot of trouble too. I think Cerby isn't that bad by comparison.

nova oar
#

Cerb is really easy yeah

tight anchor
nova oar
tight anchor
#

Oh

nova oar
#

Only high fear runners that use antler are 65-67 players

red fox
#

And antler addicts

nova oar
tight anchor
#

So this wording represents your stance:
"Most people who use it, me included, use it in the 4th region"

fickle drum
#

Well I'll just try to rank it up early so I don't have to do it later.

red fox
#

Well later has keepsake level 2x faster upgrade so ...

nova oar
tight anchor
fickle drum
#

I mean what's even the point of living if I don't max out every keepsake? 😉

tight anchor
#

If you never equip a 3 star keepsake, then you should max all keepsakes in less than 100 runs

fickle drum
#

Do you ever unlock a thingy to track affection levels?

nova oar
#

Yes

fickle drum
#

Cool ok

strength or death?

nova oar
tender oracle
#

i assume they're asking which one is better?
in which case i think death is a bit better in general but strength is still very viable
so really go for the one you have more fun with, unless you need one over the other for a build or something

Does anyone know the exact conditions for Eris to show up when you're progressing too fast?

#

Like how fast is too fast, does she always show up or is it a chance

nova oar
#

Shows up in oceanus first two night, then fields

#

I think she shows up in tart but I stopped playing fresh file

slate falcon
#

Oh so it's like Night 1-2: Oceanus, Night 3-?: Field, Night ?-10: Tartarus, presumably? And only if your health is too high?

slate falcon
#

Gotcha, ty

rotund wing
#

Man, playing with toula really does feel like trying to herd a cat

#

I was playing circe too, so I really needed toula to not be sleeping on the other side of the arena half of the time

red fox
#

Well you can use raki who on top of enemy 80% of time

nova oar
#

Raki or gale is best

red fox
#

Or gale who following you

nova oar
#

I prefer gale he's more consistent for room clear

rotund wing

I did win the run, but my god toula was a pain in the rear the entire time

What's the average number of Nights to beat the main story? I'm at 200+, but I only unlocked Familiar Upgrading during the last... 100 nights, and did a lot of Chaos.
Still, only need 2 more Victories to end the story.

craggy totem
#

Keep in mind that IIRC version 1.0 required fewer minimum runs to complete the main plot

oblique hemlock
#

are ||infernal contracts|| more likely to appear in the underworld than on the surface? or is it samesies

midnight moss
#

Right, now you need at least ~15.

thin laurel
#

also I have no idea how to count how many nights it took me to beat the story, since I'm on an early access save
if you count every night before I got the credits then it's like 300 or something, but if you count the nights it took me to actually progress the plot then I did it in the minimum number possible since I already had max upgrades and a lot of experience in 1.0 🤷

#

idk what the average number is for people, and it also depends on how often you do chaos trials since I believe those also count as "nights"

midnight moss
#

I'm an Early Access-er too, and stopped after getting my first Sand at ~90 days. And yes, Chaos counts as nights too.

#

...
Oh, right. Actual gameplay Question: What's the minimum Fear I need to get the easiest Gift of Night? Or does the game tell you before you run, once you unlock that feature?

thin laurel
#

...I should also really take a break from pushing fear and finish up my last couple achievements 💀 I've been distracted and not wanting to take keepsakes I don't need
458 nights on my save file, everything else maxed out, prob ~200 nights on save files from previous updates, but uh. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1426118288198602775/1441288139569238026/Screenshot_2025-11-20_at_8.43.14_PM.png?ex=69213fae&is=691fee2e&hm=7c990b7c862070f535f5025cf549790f874139096b3b323b43d9542d78eceb4f&=&format=webp&quality=lossless&width=1396&height=1300

speaking of fear, is there any value to adding vows if you’re not going to reach a testament that night? besides like, pushing your own abilities as a player

thin laurel
oblique hemlock

12 sounds right yeah
thanks again

thin laurel
#

by the time I unlocked that feature I didn't need the mats and generally didn't play below the amount of fear it requires so uh. someone correct me if I'm wrong

oblique hemlock
#

12 or 10 anyway, i feel like ive see some where you only need 10

thin laurel

confusing since the statues are "gifts of the veil"

midnight moss
#

Lucky!

oblique hemlock
#

strikes to armor must not count as hits then (?) since you aren’t taking dmg

midnight moss
#

Yeah, I've seen Perfect Health with Armor if you look in Boasting, so I guess so

#

...
Would a Boon that flips Armor and HP around, like you take HP damage before your Armor, be OP?

thin laurel
#

I think hits to armor count as damage taken...? since I've ended runs with full HP but had damage taken from chronos listed on the victory screen

midnight moss
#

Yeah, but did you still get the Perfect Health title?

oblique hemlock
oblique hemlock
#

can’t believe how skilled some people are at this game

thin laurel

perfect health seems to just be full HP 🤷 not "no damage listed"

midnight moss

What is the Meticulous Planner title?

nope, grisly gain is base chance to generate plasma from every hit!
the one you're thinking of is uh. oh god what's it called... profuse bleeding is the wounds one.. uhhh OH visceral impact

midnight moss
#

Oh. I thought that would've been easier to get Plasma. But if you're killing them too quickly, then you're actually losing Plasma lol

thin laurel
#

it should in theory pop off for bossing
I think it's just the combination of <100% chance to create plasma, <100% chance to get a heartthrob from the duo, and heartthrob damage not being that amazing

#

and gusts are just good lol. to be fair to the duo, I prob had frigid rush for more of the total run, too. just... expected two heartthrob duos (with a leg to help!) to pop off a bit more than that

midnight moss

craggy totem

Those dudes in Thessaly that slam anchors

thin laurel

thin laurel

also interestingly some hitless region 4 runs don't get the in perfect health title...? idt?

This is why I want Freeze Cast, to stop things in their tracks.

thin laurel
craggy totem

thin laurel
midnight moss
#

Yeah, I wish they actually froze, instead of just Slow

red fox
#

Unfun fact

midnight moss
#

The Master Slicers becoming Master Sliders is annoying but funny.

thin laurel
#

I love olympus robots for one reason only: night bloom (and the duos which do the same thing)
other than that they can be reduced to scrap metal for all I care

midnight moss
#

I love Hel Skull because the shots actually pass through obstacles. Safe attacking

craggy totem

Heph's major sins:

How many Underworld trips does it take to do the Echo storyline? It seems it takes longer than the main story lol? Even if you got them everytime?

craggy totem

Plenty of the side stories can take longer than the main storyline if you don't die a lot. That being said, where are you in her storyline/relationship progression?

rivals ||chronos ||wasnt that difficult on my first try, got him down to like 3 percent health and then he wombo-comboed my ass

grave gorge
#

Yeah, I've gotten him super low a couple of times

thin laurel
#

frenzy 2 vs no frenzy makes quite a difference tbh
also the weapon you're playing and other factors etc etc

sudden harness
#

whatd be the easiest weapon to defeat him you think?

grave gorge
#

I've been doing my attempts with Mel Daggers

thin laurel
#

in general I think some weapons are very good at punishing typhon since he just... doesn't move 🤷 so anything with passive damage can make that fight feel easier
chronos is......... tricky. circe is generally considered the best aspect for high fear, and I think I'd agree with that?

hearty timber
grave gorge
#

Circe is... the double cast staff?

thin laurel
#

I feel like my perspective is kinda warped tho
I've done UW 62 a few times now but haven't done surface above 40 fear, so for me chronos is a lot harder since so many other things are going on 💀 wheras rivals typhon is comparatively chill.
but from what I've heard, the bigger roadblocks for 62 fear surface are prometheus and like..... olympus + thessaly room clear in general

thin laurel
feral lintel
#

when people use shiva do they actually use the gimmick or

thin laurel
feral lintel
#

what do they do otherwise

thin laurel
#

heavy magick usage and slow channeling just get harder to justify at high fear
but charon and moros still use full omega builds at 62, so I'd assume Shiva can too

thin laurel
# feral lintel what do they do otherwise

oh, you just play it like Mel coat basically
spam basic attacks and specials, the base damage is actually pretty high so it's kinda like "mel coat but it works with % boons too"

feral lintel
#

I see, thank you

thin laurel
hearty timber
#

If you are running coat at high fear nyx is good

thin laurel
#

yesss I highly recommend nyx for high fear coat runs, if you're interested
I'd say nyx > mel coat >>> shiva and selene for high fear

hearty timber
#

Yesss

thin laurel
#

not super sure which is better between shiva and selene *for high fear, haven't looked into it enough 🤷
(in general I'd say shiva, it's just so much raw damage)

grave gorge

crude dragon
#

Selene

grave gorge
#

Selene

thin laurel

and no aspect is so bad that you can't make it work tbh, some just have gimmicks which are less suited to specific types of challenge (i.e. high fear, speed)

the change to splash ICD was just for 1.0 I think...?
unseen update nerfed pan in 5 million ways 🙃 one of which was increasing the ICD for splash by a lot, which also hurt mel coat exhaust riser. then iirc in 1.0 that ICD got reduced at least partially

#

also scorch got buffed a ton in unseen, and scorch is good on mel coat too 🤷

#

I'm not a coat expert so I may be wrong on Selene, but ik Mel coat is in a surprisingly good place rn overall

thin laurel
hearty timber
#

Spam those specialssss

thin laurel
#

autofire also saved my fingers ngl
I never turn it on, but coldshade recced it and it feels SO good for special spam nyx

hearty timber
#

I can see the move speed being so useful against cerb etc and in general

thin laurel
#

hmmm the crossroads database won't show me hammer upgrade usage if I filter to just 1 aspect... 1 sec, will take more effort lmao

#

looking at pbs on the speedcord for mel coat 62s it looks like most use dash strike and special both...? a lot of blitz special

#

hmm ok. going off of hammer upgrades for 62 fear runs on crossroads, it's a mix. some ppl seem to go all in on specials, some on attacks, some on both
shimmering rockets and exhaust riser are both p common

#

also from DTB:

Mel Coat isn’t flashy, but the benefits are useful. A permanent droplet means you don’t need Nitro Boost / Blinding Rush / Plasma / that one Charon speed item for Rival Cerberus / Chronos, and also it can deal some monstrous damage via Exhaust Rider, or Furious Rockets if you get the right hammers and boons
followed by a comment that it's not the best coat for high fear (which is Nyx)

#

so my impression is that it's very versatile, and can opt into dash strike, special spam, or both

meager walrus
#

vyt says shimmering is the best hammer on all coats in general

thin laurel
#

it's by far the most used for 62 according to crossroads too, just absurd room clear whether or not you're spamming specials only

meager walrus
#

well it was the most used 62 partially because there was a mel coat week recently

red fox
#

Tbf i take that almost everytime too

thin laurel
#

it's just crossroads so it's not 100% accurate, just a little slice of submissions, but still

#

bigger lead than any other *weapon type's most picked hammer has over the second most picked, too

meager walrus
#

keep in mind that not everyone submits to crossroads

#

but also that the best coat player says shimmering is the best hammer

thin laurel
#

yeah I mean, as I said it's just crossroads so it's not 100% accurate
but it's still interesting

red fox
#

As long as i have boon on special shimmering always perform

thin laurel
#

I wonder how it performs for speeds, without hordes/wards to consider melthink
probably still fantastic for fast room clear, but shimmering is just insane for wards and big crowds imo

meager walrus
#

very fast but you really need to hit early or else things fall off quickly

Hi there, kinda new to this discord, I've got some questions concerning a headache in narcissus quest, what is the correct room to discuss about that ? ty

pallid cradle
#

Here? I guess here works

tepid crystal
#

Ok thanks, I'm kinda stuck into my last steam achievement (Voice and Vanity), I've got narcissus to go check on echo once, then on the next run he called me a liar (he has his muddy water), and melinoe mentionned something about the cauldron and a recipe (happened few days ago). But its now like the 10x time i've got to check on narcissus and he's only saying one line before giving me a boon, i've tried to go check echo skipping him, seeing both on the same night, etc, i'm stuck lol (tldr : narcissus recipe does not show up in the cauldron)

tranquil wren
#

huh that seems like a bug, you should've got the recipe after him calling you a liar

lament veldt

I cant even get the voice and vanity quest line to start, and the echo keepsake is the last one i need, do i just keep pestering narcissis and echo to get that to start

ahhhh i have not stuck around in any room lol

pallid cradle
#

Yea... I went a while without realizing that one. It's really stupid because she's the only NPC where that's the case.

tranquil wren
#

it's because of her echo gimmick
mel always greets echo when she walks up to her, and so echo always says it back. but if you gifted echo first, then her greeting echo won't make sense

tepid crystal
pallid cradle
#

The way Echo's bond ends I'm not a fan of either ZagSad

lament veldt
#

ive been getting so frustrated because i think the echo keepsake is the last thing i need for the rest of the achievements. I need to slow down doing things in this game, it took me a while to get the epilogue to happen because i didnt properly read the prophecy

pallid cradle
#

Doesn't help that final requirement to get the epilogue might be one of the dumbest objectives I've ever done in a video game zagmad

And I've played entirely too many video games.

Some small QoL feedback: 1. It would be nice with a incantation or decoration upgrade (that you can toggle if you ever change your mind) that lets you respawn at either the stone table or in the middle of your weapons (whatever you seem most thematically fitting/cool). Late-late game there is little reason to cross trough the other parts of the crossroad. Since no incantation have a toggle, I suggest one could maybe walk up and interact with either of the location to change the respawn point. 2. When you have upgraded the multi-planting just let me press right click with one seed as well, I just wanna spam click without having to think at all about muscle memory. 3. A new setting that makes you auto open doors/crossing if you dash or walk into them without the need to press interact. 4. Another setting one can enable when not having auto-sprint enables, that makes your sprint linger for as long as it takes to recharge a dash, or about the time it takes to press release and press the dash button again (two option would be the best). 5. Let me open the codex when offered boons (could I not do this before? Did my game bug out?)

ha ha ha ha, watching a video about fear and I realise I have a completely different playstyle than most people. I could not handle all that :D

I also don't really know how to develop it with boons.

craggy totem

The main thing you want to keep in mind for p2 Chronos with the axe is that the attack sequence lunges you forward a bit, so like, don't do that if you have to stand in a small safe zone (unless you wanted get smited via your toes)

Though technically..... Charon is two moves innit 🤓

storm glen
#

technically charon is boring and lame 😼😼

fickle drum
#

This game doesn't seem to have resources you can get only once before having to raise difficulty.

fickle drum
#

Like titan blood and whatnot.

thin laurel
thin laurel
craggy totem
# fickle drum Like titan blood and whatnot.

Yeah, the equivalent in this game (Nightmare) can be obtained from other sources in addition to difficulty-raising sources. It's easier to try out all the different weapon aspects this way.

fickle drum
#

I mean like Hecate's drop is the same every time.

craggy totem
#

Yeah, the boss drops are used for something different

thin laurel
#

that's more because the base boss drops aren't ever nightmare
if you want to get nightmares from actual runs (without a late game incantation), you need to defeat a specific boss with a specific weapon at a specific level of fear (or higher), and the fear req goes up each time

fickle drum
#

What's nightmare even for?

thin laurel
#

so if you want to get the titan's-blood-like substance from bosses with a given weapon, then you need to increase your fear each time you successfully farm it
just unlike in hades 1 it's always a different boss, not the same one each time

craggy totem
#

The Aspects of Melinoe don't need Nightmare, but the others do.

thin laurel
#

nightmare = titan's blood, mostly for weapon upgrades
altho not for aspect of Mel, that one just takes common resources
and you don't unlock aspects with nightmare (unlike titan's blood), it's just for upgrades

fickle drum
#

Oh I haven't seen a requirement for those yet.

thin laurel
mighty jasper
#

Did the game get harder after the full release or did I just get worse 🫤

fickle drum

I mean my skill at this game is rather inconsistent anyway.

Probably because I accidentally make very good choices sometimes without knowing why they are good.

mighty jasper
#

I’m not good at building boon combos

fickle drum
#

I was ok at the first game after some practice.

#

Beat EM4 only with Zagfists tho.

thin laurel
#

hades 2 also just has more total systems to learn (i.e. every weapon has more total moves, magick management, elements, etc)
once you do learn them imo there are more op builds total, though 👀

fickle drum
#

Like I'm not sure when to rely on omega attacks.

mighty jasper
#

I beat hades 2 for the first time using the phoenix combo

thin laurel
fickle drum
#

Like, with hex auto charging, spamming omegas isn't always necessary.

mighty jasper
#

What weapons are good right now? I liked all hades 1 weapons but I only really like the daggers for hades 2

fickle drum

I kinda like the flames.

mighty jasper
thin laurel

2

mighty jasper
#

I don’t have the new weapons

thin laurel
#

hmmm then at baseline... honestly none of them are bad, they just like different builds
staff is overall the most consistently strong weapon type if you include aspects and upgrades, but at baseline it's less impactful

craggy totem
#

All of them yeah, but also, /points to name unbiasedly

thin laurel
#

at this point I'd just say play whatever feels best to you, idt any aspect of Mel with zero upgrades is notably more op than all the others...?

storm glen
#

game is well balanced enough that ur wpn choice doesnt matter til 50f imo

thin laurel
#

like, for me I'd much rather play torches without upgrades/aspects than the other weapon types, but I just like torches, I like range

storm glen
#

& i actually think the bad high fear weapons make very short work of low fear

#

bc most of the bad high fear weapons are just slow to build not actually bad

fickle drum
#

So like what does the axe need to be really effective? Multipliers?

mighty jasper
#

I like th ranged weapons too but when I’m playing at school I don’t have a mouse so it’s impossible to aim

thin laurel
#

and every aspect has cleared 62 fear, so it' more abt finding what works for you and what you're confident using.
and/or like... once you do unlock aspects, if there's a weapon you struggle to like then maybe finding an aspect which makes it play differently

storm glen
fickle drum
#

Huntress is what again?

thin laurel
storm glen
#

when you have less than 100% magic your atk/special dela 50% more damage

craggy totem
#

Note for reading boon descriptions: singular "attack" or "special" means only your normal attack or special, whereas plural "attacks" or "specials" means your normal AND omega attack/special

fickle drum
#

Oh that one, I like it.

thin laurel
storm glen
craggy totem
#

The hivemind strikes (giving game advice)

fickle drum
#

The omega special for the axe is pretty cool.

craggy totem
#

It's handy as a ranged option 👍

fickle drum
#

Omega attack also kinda but it's situational.

thin laurel
fickle drum
#

Like if you can charge it and tear through a large group it can be good but it's risky.

#

I also haven't really gotten a handle on how to use hexes to compliment the build. Or how to avoid schizo builds that have everything on different buttons.

craggy totem
#

WDYM everything on different buttons

thin laurel
#

also btw, re: axe omega special
you can press the special button, then dash while holding it to safely reposition without cancelling the move

craggy totem
#

Cos like, for most aspects it's good to be using all of your moves to some extent

fickle drum
#

Like you have your boons spread out in a way that's not particularly synergistic

craggy totem
#

Ah, gotcha

thin laurel
#

also yeah, most aspects in hades 2 use multiple moves
everything wants to use cast because it's an amazing defensive tool even with no boon on it, most things want to use a combo of attacks and specials 🤷 etc

fickle drum
#

I think also one thing I don't have a handle on is the axe doesn't actually need to be in an enemy's face to hit it.

meager walrus
#

I am dreading finishing the axes on 50

#

I still have nergal and charon left and they both suck

craggy totem
#

Ohhhh

meager walrus

#

Mel axe was comfy and thanatos was okay though

thin laurel
meager walrus
#

But i imagine the other two axes are gonna be a Morrigan situation where I bash my head against a wall until the game gives me the greatest high roll

storm glen
fickle drum
#

I forgot what weapon I was using, I think it was skull. I had the Hestia cast and the duo with Aphrodite.

storm glen
#

you just need to know what gods fit into which general archetypes of play

craggy totem
#

Even some wacky-ass builds can work fine, yeah

fickle drum
#

I don't.

storm glen
#

i think your cast boon matters a lot in this game too because every god's cast solves a different problem

craggy totem
#

except for sword ring, sword ring doesn't solve any problems at all /only half joking

storm glen
#

sword rings pretty solid tbh

thin laurel
#

synergies are fun even if you don't need them lol
but afaik hades 1 was a lot more reliant on specific synergies, like merciful end or w/e
idk, I didn't really follow the h1 meta

meager walrus
#

Just take Zeus on every weapon dont gotta think about it

storm glen
fickle drum

But like, don't you want like a main mode of attack and then build around that?

H1 weapons were more strongly bound to specific gods, in my opinion

craggy totem
#

You could say so, like for instance if I get Hestia early in my blades run and she offers me attack, I might want to angle for a scorch-heavy build and lean harder into attack spam than I might have otherwise, but like, it's pretty flexible overall?

thin laurel
#

in h2 there are a few things which get shunted into the "on hit flat damage" corner, but even then there are more total good options for that sort of boon. and some weapons which prefer on-hit effects can still do fine with other boons if needed

meager walrus
#

There were basically weapons that preferred Zeus start and weapons that preferred Artemis/Aphro start. Then the few niche weapons that preferred poseidon.

fickle drum
#

I mean something has to be causing this variance where sometimes I reach Chronos and sometimes I die to Erebus miniboss.

craggy totem
#

I'm ngl it's more likely to be just game knowledge/familiarity than the quality of your build

thin laurel
#

that sounds to me more like either game knowledge, not using cast/sprint enough early on to keep yourself safe, or just like... not having an offensive boon at all by the time you get to a miniboss? idk

craggy totem
#

RNG is a cruel god 😔

thin laurel
#

erebus is kind of fickle, more so at high fear but even at baseline you sometimes just get offered like... a bunch of defensive boons and then you're slow and weak at the start
if you have time to snowball, whether or not your build is synergistic it's generally still going to plow through things at low fear imo

craggy totem
#

I won't forget the times that gods show up in Erebus and refuse to offer me attack or special boons when I have nothing on them 😠 RNG!!!! I SHAKE MY FIST

fickle drum
#

Yeah I specced into rerolls because I got tired of having no attack boon in the fields of mourning lol.

thin laurel
#

rerolls are great lol, highly recommend at the point where you are in the game

craggy totem
#

oh I dunno it's pretty #methodacting to simply rawdog the RNG imho

fickle drum
#

I also just unlocked the ability to upgrade cards.

craggy totem
#

Oh yeah that's gonna help

fickle drum
#

Instantly went for the second defiance, lol

thin laurel
#

I'd also highly recommend Origination, if you aren't using it
extreeeemely good card

craggy totem
#

Damn, I was just about to preach the good word of Strength

thin laurel
#

and pretty easy to get online
I'd prob upgrade DDs/strength and persistence (max hp and magick) first to just... stay alive longer and have more time to learn enemy patterns and such
but origination is amazing

fickle drum
#

I think Strength is good if you don't use defiance?

thin laurel
#

yup! it's usually an either or situation
strength is also very very good with healing

fickle drum
#

Origination is what again?

balmy iris
#

The chaos card

thin laurel
#

almost always easy to do during a run, you don't generally need to go out of your way to get it online

fickle drum
#

Oh, that one, what's it called again? Something status?

thin laurel
#

privileged status I think? yes it's that

balmy iris
#

Unless you get Apollo, Poseidon, or Hephaestus attack/special

craggy totem
#

Aphrodite

#

Apollo, Poseidon and Hephaestus at least can upgrade their attack/special with t2 boons to gain status effects, but Aphro has nothin

thin laurel
#

aphro has the only gain in the game which applies a status curse tho

fickle drum
#

Aphrodite has the thing that just casts weak on everything just by standing there.

craggy totem
fickle drum
#

Gain?

thin laurel
#

magick regen

balmy iris
#

Isnt aphro a damage%

fickle drum
#

Oh, the fifth slot?

balmy iris
#

So it can be upgraded

thin laurel
#

the 5 core boon slots always visible on the left all end in the same word
attack = "strike"
special = "flourish"
cast = "ring"
sprint/dash = "rush"
regen = "gain"

craggy totem
#

Apollo has the daze %chance, Poseidon has Slippery Slope, and Heph has Furnace Glow

thin laurel
#

so ppl call magick regen boons gain boon often since it's the one case where it's shorter to say
like. I'm not going to say "you should get zeus Flourish~" I'll just say special or spec

fickle drum
#

I hadn't made the connection yet that the fifth slot is about regaining majikkck.

craggy totem
#

But Aphrodite has nothing to convert her attack/special into something that applies curse

fickle drum
#

But Aphrodite can just apply curse without it.

craggy totem
balmy iris
#

How do you not do Aphrodite cast when you use her for attack

thin laurel
#

yeah, glamour gain (her magick regen) isn't actually that good at generating magick, so it's p common to take it more for its ability to apply weak

balmy iris
#

The crowd control and weak effect is perfect for close range

fickle drum
#

There's also some sick duo boons involving weak.

craggy totem
#

It's just a good cast boon in general. I'm not... passing judgment on Aphrodite lol.

thin laurel
#

also actually
my hot(?) take is that Hephaestus is the single worst god for origination
he's the only god where literally not a single core boon applies a status curse, and even if you get Glow from his tier 2 boons you need a lot of levels and rarity on his blasts to get 100% uptime
aphro is by comparison pretty chill, 3 core boons which apply a curse + the only god in the game who can proc origination by herself (via her legendary)

thin laurel
fickle drum
#

Also Aphrodite gimmick is being close range, so you'll be in range to apply weak all the time.

thin laurel
#

so you get permanent room-wide weak lol
very very fun with her hestia duo so everyone is permanently taking scorch damage

storm glen
#

rapture ring is so much better with jpom

balmy iris
#

Everything is better with jpom

storm glen
#

the stupid linear pom scaling that starts with doubling its damage is hilarious

thin laurel
#

(for early game ppl in chat, jpom is a post-credits keepsake that's extremely op, and that's all I'll say abt it to avoid spoilers lol)

balmy iris
#

Except like maybe hera’s non-damaging boons

thin laurel
#

ig bridal glow since it has no pom levels at all...?

fickle drum
#

So how does scorch work? It deals up to 100 damage per tick and subtracts that from the number? So you have to continuously reapply it, or use some boon that makes it easier to maintain?

thin laurel
# balmy iris Uncommon (something)

uncommon grace also goes kinda hard with jpom, it's not amazing but it's just a juicy universal damage bonus
makes me more likely to take it on jpom runs than normal ones tbh

balmy iris
#

Yeah but how do you get uncommon grace to go off if you’re running hubris 2

thin laurel
fickle drum
#

By the way, I actually like the Charon well boon that gives a boost to a sacrifice boon, idk if that's weird.

thin laurel
# fickle drum So how does scorch work? It deals up to 100 damage per tick and subtracts that f...
  1. when you apply scorch with an ability, x stacks of scorch get added to a "bank" capped at 999
  2. every 1 second, up to 100 stacks of scorch are consumed and converted into damage; this benefits from universal damage bonuses, so it's 100 base damage but in practice a lot more than that
  3. the boon "pyro technique" from hestia makes scorch tick faster, increasing the rate at which 100 stacks are consumed and multiplying your damage so long as you can apply enough scorch to keep up

pyro technique also goes hard af with that aphrodite boon since scorch never gets consumed at all lol
the demeter duo boon also changes how scorch works (you can "pop" all current stacks by freezing an enemy, dealing 2x damage)

#

a lot of weapons which are good at applying scorch can reach the cap and no longer benefit from applying more, without pyro technique speeding up how fast an enemy burns

fickle drum
#

I assume that if a boon says like some small percentage more damage, it's multiplicative?

balmy iris
#

Scorch is honestly the best status curse in the game, hestia special should be the new divine dash

storm glen
#

i like how cinerary circle plays a little muted vine boom

thin laurel
storm glen
#

movespeed is multiplicative though

thin laurel
#

with some exceptions tho, like zeus has a boon which makes you unable to do less than 50 damage per hit lol

#

but at baseline it's base power x sum of all % stuff x crit

balmy iris
#

Zeus offering infusion boon when you only have 4 air

fickle drum
#

So why are some of these numbers so much smaller than others?

balmy iris
#

I pick it up and then forget to get another air boon

thin laurel
#

if you just mean how some attack boons give more % than others, that's fairly well balanced tbh
aphrodite gives the single highest % bonus, but only at close range, and applies no status curse
apollo gives the second highest, and similarly applies to status curse
gods who give a % bonus and apply a status curse all give a lower %, but make it easier to get that 50% bonus from Origination (and have other utility via the curse)
so someone like Demeter who can let you fully freeze enemies has a lower damage% bonus, since freeze is op

fickle drum
#

Doesn't Apollo have Daze?

craggy totem
thin laurel
#

not on his attack and special, nope

craggy totem
#

Just like how Aphrodite doesn't have curse on her attack/special boon :P

fickle drum
#

Does it have to be?

thin laurel
#

his attack and special give damage% and make your AoE bigger
he has a seconadry boon which gives his attack a chance to apply daze, but it's not guaranteed

balmy iris
#

Apollo sprint turns you into Rainbow Dash

thin laurel
# fickle drum Does it have to be?

you don't need status curses to come from attack/special for them to be useful
but the fact that his attack and special don't offer a curse is why they get a higher %. they're raw damage boons with no utility, whereas boons which also have utility/some other bonus don't get crazy high %s

balmy iris
#

Apollo also has wider hit range

#

Pretty decent for axes

How nearby is nearby anyway?

I haven't fooled around on the surface much, so I only have Mel axe

I assume attack is better because special damage is nonexistent.

ancient ridge

Already used majority on Arcana. Right now it's between Pet Food or nectar

I'd prob prioritize pet food, since you can get one nectar a night and get it as room rewards, whereas pet food is harder to come by

thin laurel

if you want to prioritize nectar first then feel free! but idk, I have like..... over 100 nectar on my save and nothing to use it on, since eventually you run out of things to use it for at all and just keep getting it in runs
