goal will probably be sub-8:30 or sub-9 for surface I'm thinking...? I'll decide once I try on a weapon I'm significantly slower at (like shiva/selene)

but you can also stack a lot of free hits!
lovers arcana card = 3 free hits
nitro boost = 1-4 free hits depending on rarity
snow queen = 1 free hit
trusty shield = at least 1 free hit
gale = up to 3 free hits
and then stacking more armor, daze, dodge, damage reduction, sources of healing... it can be very safe if you aim for it

There are many different things that contribute to a faster or slower time, including:

• RNG (can't do much about that, although this is why the serious speedrunners use rerolls/god keepsakes)
• routing (picking encounters/rooms that are faster to complete)
• knowing which boons/keepsakes/etc. out of the available options will best complement the aspect/build you have
• knowing the map layouts and how to navigate them efficiently
• being able to fight efficiently with your current build

in the fields, if you already have one hammer in your possession, major rewards can roll a hammer

using artificer rolls a new major reward

if you have two hammers in your possession then you can't roll a third

buuuut, the game doesn't check if there's an untaken hammer in that same room

(unless it's a shop item, but that doesn't count here)

so you need to find a big room with a hammer in it, and then artificer the minor rewards in that same room, don't take any of them until you've done all of the artificers you can, then take them all

Yep 2s is the minimum. There is one boon which will bump it down further, the Pos/Heph duo Seismis Servo, but other than that, no further.

rivals 4 however... is complicated. it 100% makes runs way harder than they need to be for lower levels of fear, but if you plan to push as high as you can you'll eventually need to turn it on, and getting used to it for the first time with all the other hard vows on sucks 💀
so if you plan to aim for 60 or 62 eventually, I'd prioritize getting a handle on rivals 4 frenzy 2 early, even if it makes it take longer to get a new pb

I'd also say that dropping pain is a good idea while you're learning rivals 4, so that you can survive longer in the fight and have more time to learn how it works!

Big changes from what we talked about:

1. I died on a Max Frenzy grinding run to Chronos, so I went with L1 Frenzy. I’ll keep L1 for a while until I get more used to the speed increase.
2. I wasn’t feeling too confident going into Tartarus, so I went with Evil Eye (on Chronos, of course) instead of White Antler. It went well, but I might try Metallic Droplet next time. If I can carry Armour into Tartarus, then I’ll try it with the Antler.
3. No Zeus, so I went with Aphro for Special. Still got Origination sometimes from Hera Attack/Apollo Dash, but not enough for my liking.

it took away double cast tech but being able to omega special from far away made up for that

tho howling soul is howling soul, whiffed a couple of shots a few times and had to omega special again to actually aim it properly

unfortunately apollo legendary only doubles the first omega attack and not the repeated ones afterwards 💔 i highly recommend trying it out with heph's legendary though its really fun

I've been playing baaaadly the past couple days, BUT FOURTH 62 DOWN!!!! Eos my absolute beloved, timed out vs Chronos but I still made it. Wolf Howl carried, burning desire carried, also I had a bizarrely good sirens fight considering how awful my Erebus and Chronos were
