Amateur to intermediate is a really small step, honestly. Intermediate to professional is more of a step

Prof to nightmare is the first hard step

when you feel comfortable with your method for finding the ghost room quickly, that jump from amateur to intermediate doesn't feel so daunting. the big thing is getting comfortable with the loss of setup time. just get faster at finding the ghost.
I waited until I unlocked sanity meds and crucis and... the jump didn't change anything really. I felt like I could've done it sooner.

the first page is a shop. I only use it to unlock items though, and occasionally buy stuff for a daily task
the second page, I use to tweak my quick loadout only - it kinda edits what you already have in the truck.
the third page is the Quick Loadout page, that's the bread and butter. create a loadout of what you want. tweak the items as you unlock them. use autobuy, and it'll automatically refill as long as you have the funds.

everything is useful, it's just a question of how much. it's up to you.
extra dots helps. sometimes, a extra video camera helps. you probably don't need more than 1 spirit box unless you drop one and can't find it later. when you get salt, sanity meds, crucis, incense, keep that stuff filled in the truck.
some stuff varies if you're playing multiplayer too, which you might do a second loadout for.

firelights, I usually just do 2.
but this is really up to you. you can get away with 1 firelight or fill the room with them.
