1 - Discord Guidelines, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Language

  1. This server is public and partnered. We must abide and enforce/moderate the Discord "Terms of Service" (ToS) agreement, and Discord Community guidelines:

  2. Age Requirement
    - This server follows Discord TOS of the minimum age of 13 for its users.

  3. By using this Discord, you accept our Privacy Policy which can be found on our website.

  4. We are an English server. This is done so we can support our users, enforce rules and protect everyone. ALL communication (unless stated otherwise), must be English. Community servers in other languages can be found in the #info channel.

2 - General Rules

  1. The following topics are prohibited: politics, religion, controversial, inflammatory, anything not safe for work (NSFW).
    - Moderators have the discretion to tell chat to move on from a subject.

  2. Keep things appropriate/safe for work (SFW).
    - All forms of messages, media, avatars, usernames, emotes, stickers, statuses, about me's must be SFW and profanity kept to a minimum. Any message or content depicting terrorism, gore, excessive violence, abuse, or sexually explicit content of any kind is not tolerated.

  3. Keep the community fun and friendly.
    - Be respectful to one another and keep conversation civil. Intentionally insulting, annoying/harassing, trolling/baiting, making false accusations, making people feel uncomfortable, flirting/unwanted compliments/soliciting photos/videos, spamming, etc., is not tolerated. This includes sending unsolicited DMs, pinging random members, attempting to ping everyone/here, or roles, excessive use of emojis/stickers/caps, large blocks of text, copy pasta, etc. Do not bring personal/private issues into public chat.

  4. Keep the community safe and accommodating.
    - Hate speech, hateful conduct, and dox/doxxing is not tolerated. Hate Speech/Hateful conduct includes, but is not limited to, racism, sexism, anti-LGBTQ+, disparaging physical/mental illnesses and/or disabilities. The use of harmful/ableist terms/slurs as insults and/or casual slang is also not allowed.

  5. Advertising or offering services of any kind is not allowed.
    - Advertising, soliciting, selling, giveaways, promotions, begging, or offering services (free or not) on this server or through unsolicited DMs is prohibited. This includes but is not limited to Phasmophobia leveling services, products, services, personal Discords. Saying your DMs are open or similar is prohibited.

3 - Channel Rules

  1. Please use the correct channels. Many channels within the server have a specific purpose and their own set of guidelines, including whether certain types of media such as images, screenshots, videos, link, etc., may be posted. Our LFG channels and channels server-wide should only be used to look for Phasmophobia games, not other games. Check channel topics and pins!

  2. Generally links (including GIFs) are not allowed. This includes Spotify Listen Along links.

  3. Do not spoiler bait. Example: hiding text in spoilers which is inappropriate.

  4. Modding/hacking the game is prohibited (2.1.8 of the EULA).
    - Discussing, requesting, and/or distributing mods/hacks/cheats, etc., and the discussion/streaming, etc. of disassembling/de-compiling/reverse engineering/data mining and material resulting from it is also prohibited. The use of mods/hacks may result in a temporary or permanent ban from the server, denial of tech support/assistance, and/or access to multiplayer for the game. Their use can destabilise the game servers, corrupt your or others game, and ruin the experience for other players. ReShade (post processing) is allowed but may get falsely flagged as a hack/mod/cheat.
    - Discussing older versions/builds of the game is allowed, however distributing or instructing others on how to download them is not. By playing older builds of the game, you acknowledge the probability of it messing up your current save and the fact that our support teams will be unable to assist in fixing it for you.

  1. Pirating the game is prohibited.
    - Discussing, requesting, and/or distributing a pirated/cracked version of the game is also prohibited and will result in a ban from the server. Your account will be reported to Discord. If you are playing a cracked/pirated version of the game you may appeal the ban with proof of purchase. The game is currently available for purchase on Steam, Steam Deck, Viveport, XBox, and PlayStation.

  2. NEVER:
    - Ask someone's age or detailed personal information. Sharing detailed personal information is highly discouraged and we may delete messages if deemed necessary to for safety. Please do not be more specific than server region, country/state/larger geographic region, time zone, etc.
    - Post the personal information of others or yourself ("doxing/doxxing") including but not limited to names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc. You will be reported to Discord for doxxing and subsequently banned.

4 - Voice Chat Rules

  1. The same overall Discord and Server rules apply to Voice Chat. Topics must be appropriate for the minimum Discord age of 13.

  2. When you join a voice channel, you are consenting to possibly being recorded for the sake of moderation and user reports.

  3. Any language is allowed to be spoken in Voice Chat, but you must speak the language the Voice Chat started with. If you join VC and everyone is speaking English, you must speak English. If you join VC and everyone is speaking French, you must speak French.

  4. Games with mature content (ESRB M rating) are allowed to be streamed and exposure to extreme violence and profanity, as well as sensitive topics, should be expected if you are watching a stream. Strong sexual content may not be streamed, for example, The Witcher, GTA, God of War may be streamed, but certain parts must be skipped/censored/muted. We reserve the right to cease the stream of any game to preserve the overall fun and comfort of the community. Conversation of streamed content must remain civil and appropriate as per previously stated rules and guidelines.

  5. NEVER:
    - Use a soundboard. Voice changers are allowed, but do not be disruptive with it.
    - Play or make any excessively loud noise (i.e. hearing damage). This will result in a permanent ban.
    - Play or Stream copyrighted material, including but not limited to movies, music, game code, social media, Youtube, TikTok, etc.
    - Stream anything that may include private/personal information, including but not limited to names, email addresses, phone numbers, precise locations, private/direct messages, etc.

5 - Moderation, the Phasmophobia Team, and Partners

  1. The Phasmophobia staff want everyone to have fun and remain safe. They may enforce the change or further discussion of certain topics, invoke slowmode or take moderator actions. The rules are by no means exhaustive and staff have overall moderation discretion to keep the server fun and safe. Please respect this and do not argue with staff and their decisions.

  2. You may contact the moderation team at any time by sending a DM to @reef ingot. This can be used to report undesirable behavior, hacking, trolling or glitching by server members or get help with your savefile. Abuse of this bot will result in blocking, warnings and/or indefinite ban.
    - Do not publicly accuse someone of a reportable action/behavior, aka witch hunt. If you have an issue with someone, please DM @reef ingot and provide any and all evidence of the incident. We take all accusations seriously, but can only take action if the evidence is definitive. This is to protect innocent users from troll reports.

  3. We reserve the right to ban you from our Discord server regardless of breaking the rules.

  4. We allow members of our server to redirect other members to support channels or reminding them of our rules.

  5. We do not allow:
    - Impersonation/misleading members to believe you are a moderator/staff.
    - Threatening punishment as a non-staff member.
    - Constantly calling members out for behaviour where it becomes annoying for staff and other members.
    - Asking people to DM you with proof/collecting evidence to forward it to staff.

  1. We use several bots to help with moderation, ensuring a safer server for everyone. Information about our bots can be found in #info.

  2. Use -emergency in case of emergency (NSFW/NSFL/Hate Speech, etc.). Abuse of this will result in infractions.

  3. Do not:
    - Ask to become a Kinetic Games Partner, instead apply (see #partner-applications)
    - Ask to become a member of the Discord staff team
    - Ask to get access to the Beta branch
    - DM Partners, or the developers of Kinetic Games without expressed permission
    - @/ping Partners or developers of Kinetic Games

  4. Rules may change over time. It is your responsibility to keep up to date with our rules. When entering the server you confirmed that you had read the rules; "I didn't read the rules" is not a valid excuse.

  2. Below are examples and not a complete list of bannable in-game offenses:

7 - Miscellaneous

  1. You must be on the server for at least 24-hours to access voice channels in the "Hangout Zone" category, media channels, and some bot features.
