This definitely helps, ya. We would do this a lot before custom difficutly and before cursed objects, when the ouija only spawned like 50% of the time. Waiting for the ghost to hunt was...well, having something to pass the time was nice. You can toss the ball at the wall too and sometimes the ghost will 'kick' it back at you.

If you get a deo, smudge it once it comes close, and try to walk past it while it is still blinded. You can loop at the desk at the left room from the main entrance hallway, or at the chapel to play it safe.

Onryos are most likely to blow out firelights but any ghost can, It prefers firelights over cruci for preventing hunts. It will blow out 3 firelights and will try to hunt 6 or 8 secs later after blowing out the 3rd firelight.
