hard pity refers to the guaranteed number listed on a banner and soft pity is an arbitrary number discovered by people via law of averages/physical testing to determine where a 5 star has a high, but not guaranteed likelyhood of popping out if you keep failing. Because hitting hard pity most of the time is statistically unlikely. you're more likely to get it in between 0 and hard pity, smidge closer to the hard pity line.

Don't waste crystals, Captain!

Please see Professor Lyo's explanation of why Starter Supply is not a priority [here](#👶beginner-help message).

Short answer:

• Brand new Valkyries to be prioritised over old ones (see [!faq backpull](#👶beginner-help message)).
• The discounted 10x does not make it good. Only do the 1 single pull that gets refunded anyway.
• Your crystals are better spent on new Valkyries (and guaranteeing their weapons): the value of a Valkyrie peaks on her release.
• This banner is only recommended for people willing to reroll accounts until they get a Valkyrie in the first 10x - or whale players. Ask us what to do if you are interested in rerolling, it is very dependent on the patch contents!

you can get her if you want, but if you prioritize that one over XDC (new valk) your xtal income will be lower.
probably your best option to still get HLE without fully bricking you account, will be to reroll to try to get XDC + Equip with the fewest amount of pulls , so you can save for hle later (and hope you get fdd on the free carnival pulls)
but is up to you at the end

This game is more competitive, so that is why we recommend that you focus on the meta first, as that also helps ensure a steady income of xtals. But the choice is yours, you can play more casually and choose to pull on any valk you want

Hi, I’m relatively new to HI3 (been playing for 208 days), and I’ve run into an issue.
I don’t have enough Source Prisms to upgrade all my Valkyries (I still need 27 for Ba-Dum, 21 for Lunar Vow, and 21 for Thelema). I’ve also gotten a bit lucky on weapon banners recently, but now I’m stuck — I can’t pull for new Valkyries (like Vita from the current banner) because I’m lacking prisms.
Is there any “smart” solution, or do I just have to spend crystals on weapon banners I don’t really need? I can buy them from stardust shards shop but not sure if it good decision.

What it sounds like happened is you backpulled a bunch of characters, like Thelema (though presumably hers was via last spending event). If you do that and then get lucky on weapon banners you’re going to have trouble with prisms, that’s just sort of inherent; I have similar issues myself.

I wouldn’t advise getting them from the stardust shop but getting them from the spending event wouldn’t neccesarily be terrible

And usually I would likewise advise leaving stigs unlevelled over pulling for more but if you were looking for specific weapon banners I think the least bad two would be Badum weapon or lunar vow syncs

Prisms aren't the worst decision if you've got a specific use in mind, like if they'll let you retain a few abysses and get a couple hundred crystals that might be more rewards than an affix box ends up offering, but most marginal prisms for backpulls are not super impactful

early on, prisms income is rough. sadly expected, but not a permanent thing. you will usually gain more than you can spend, especially if you end up being unlucky on a weapon banner or two

Hello i was wondering how the points are calculated in the memorial arena? Is it depending on how quick you defeat the boss like the superstring dimension? Should the rotations used for a team in superstring dimension be used against a boss in memorial arena too?

In memorial arena theres a 5 min timer u can see, the closer it is to 5 min the higher u score, but unlike in superstring, in memorial time fracture and suspended animation can slow down the timer, so theres a few diffrences in the rots, example would be like when using fws as a support, u basicly never use her enhanced wp atk in superstring, but u basicly always use it in memorial

Then it depends on your goals. In the short run Luna is unlikely to be very impactful, only a few weathers and only supports Shushang for you. However in the long run attack from dkeys adds up especially if you want to be in Nirvana some day

Anyway JDS is not a particularly valuable Valkyrie. She has only incredibly niche dps use cases, and doesn’t offer much coverage for you

Because you already have two physical Valkyries already on Mei and PS

And JDS would be a third one

Now, she wouldn’t be useless to you. PS Mei JDS is at least a full team, which isn’t nothing, and it might let you cope on SD content a bit better

So if you could get JDS from spending event I would be fairly supporting. Getting her from battlepass is a bit of a worse deal but not awful either

Just don’t expect too much from it

Yes, stigmata can be salvaged for resonance if it is of the correct type.
In the sense that their original stigs don't work for their new setup, yes.
It still have use if you want to use their old setup.

In general the buffs on new stigs are tailored to the astral ring system and old valks don't have access to that system without their new weapon so old stigs are generally better if you use the old weapon.

Stigmata are at worst, craftable from foundry. Prioritize getting all 3 before upgrading them so you can access the 3pc effect

If you plan to roll, then foundry is a last resort. You don't control what you get from the gacha so you wouldn't want to wind up with a dupe of something you wasted materials on getting.

But for FWS' case at this point we do not recommend catching up on her weapon. Signature weapons are mainly important for...

• getting 30-40% personal damage compared to her next best alternative. However FWS is a year old already. Her main dps scenarios aren't so common anymore and she may not last as long. It's better to allocate those rolls towards a new valk's weapon instead.
• some weapons offer valks important utility. In FWS' case she retains all of her functions and operates the same way with and without. The main thing you lose is a decent team bonus for resonance damage, (a type of multiplier for World Star leader teams) but this loss is workable. FWS is still fast in her animations and you can get by early game without that bonus. Down the line you'll prob wind up with other newer supports that can perform similarly to not need FWS' weapon at the higher end of the meta.

you can read through the effects and see what they offer (ignore their active skills since newer valks overwrite them)

the short answer is I'm pretty sure none of these pistols offer any team supporting buffs/debuffs so just slot in whatever that has the highest base atk that you can comfortably afford (don't go out of your way spending honkai shards to upgrade something. Those are not easy to get alot of early on). you can keep the account if you got her early. Rush crystals for Mei's weapon, and spend the free 20 carnival tickets on dragon Coralie (FDD) or new years kiana (FWS). These are reruns.

Then consider if you want to just save to focus on new releases and forget about pulling for FDD/FWS reruns.

• this is arguably long term efficient. New releases are always what's meta efficient to pull for in terms of longevity. If you're f2p or light spending, you cannot guarantee getting all new releases, and will need to skip a full release once in a while. At that point there's no real room to spend crystals on reruns such as these.
• Every newer valk has both dps and support roles now
• even if you don't use mei well as a dps, she can still work well as a support. ||Mei can support the next patch's new content. It's not a new valk but it's a new weapon that gives new features to an old farmable valk. This makes it cheap to get, encouraging for a new account that badly needs more astral ring roles||

Alternatively you may want to spend crystals for FDD/FWS (no weapon).

• Every newer valk has both dps and support roles now
• mei as a dps doesn't have any farmable supports that suits her well (symbiosis supports). Next patch ||we aren't getting anything compatible with her either||. If you want to play Mei dps, you might be waiting a long time at that point so it can be arguable to go for FWS/FDD.
• While weapons are normally important, neither FWS or FDD needs their weapon to support decently. Again they are reruns so catching up on their weapons and spending even more crystals is arguably not worth compared to a new release down the road.

Rerolling when you already got an early mei isn't going to be that much different than rerolling and getting something else early, and then rolling normally for mei afterwards. You're just moving cost around

there's no such thing as a singular best team. Late game is all about counterpicking to the scenario. People like to talk about a single team that covers most scenarios best but tbh when the support matches well, the difference isn't that big across them.

for a worse teammate you're generally losing as little as 1% or maybe at most 15% if a support is known to be really bad/old

while yes FDD/FWS/HLE are common Mei supports. However if you're a new/returning/developing player I generally (again i made an exception earlier) would not recommend backpulling any of these with crystals when you can just wait for a future matching support that would be good enough

That future new valk would arguably be better bang for your buck to get instead

but let's talk more about Mei. Can you follow the instructions in the last link of the earlier faq to tell me what ring type she is?

in your case HoHE is a possible support. She may not have the grail ring but that doesn't matter. She still has symbiosis tag

ah. Meta wise i wouldn't recommend catching up to horb at this point but as much as i've been prattling on about meta, it doesn't have to be everything in this game

main reason for meta is to get more crystals competing against other players in abyss but

do you see yourself taking frequent breaks? if so then it's more fine to just prioritize what you like even if it's not meta. Being meta does mean keeping up with new releases which means you need to play regularly or spend alot to keep your crystal income high

Honestly I've been an active player until the end of part 1, then quit when part 2 came around, and during part 2 I just came back to pull on finality dlc and ego dlc, so realistically the first part 2 unit I own is the new Mei lmaoo

I'm not very interested into pulling the part 2 cast characters as a whole as I don't feel a strong attach to them than with part 1 cast characters, so if I can pull the new Ely to play with my ego dlc or with mei I'm happy with it

horb does help guarantee crits, or convert any excess to damage but aside from the diminising return on impair, p1 horb also suffers from:

• you're giving up on mei's 3rd part of her leader skill (vbm may not fit but her having omniscient star tag lets you still activate it)
• p1 effects generally last for 15s. but p2 effects last for 25s, and they mostly refresh upon entering outburst while p1 doesn't
• vbm (and all p2 valks in general) can also trigger stellar drain to restore alot of ARI per outburst cycle to help mei enter outburst sooner

Stellar Drain is a mechanic where using specific attacks to hit an enemy can restore a large amount of Astral Ring Intensity ([ARI](#👶beginner-help message)).
However, each Character on the team only gets 1 stack of Stellar Drain and can only consume their own stack. This stack is restored across the team when entering battle or exiting Stellar Outburst (SO).
Normally the amount of ARI generated by consuming Stellar Drain is 20 if the Character has the matching attribute for that team. When the Character does not have the matching attribute for that team they usually restore 10 ARI. (for more info on team building, view [!faq ring](#👶beginner-help message)).

• Note that:
• Stellar Drain stacks are NOT visible
• Stellar Drain stacks can NOT exceed 1 per Character
• when attacking an enemy, the game may register your attack as a hit even if you don't see any actual damage numbers; this may be because the enemy is hidden or non-targetable
• the amount of ARI generated can also be affected by weapon passives/Character skills
• Characters may have multiple ways to consume Stellar Drain; for example, FWS can consume Stellar Drain with her CA and her enhanced WA

• supports: check their 3pc stigmata effect to see the conditions to trigger their main team buff (not every valk goes by this. the new valks that give breach are more manual by specific attacks to trigger their main team effect)

otherwise if you're looking for very specific ely ely interactions i'm afraid there aren't really any. I already talked about hohe earlier but that's the closest i can say

you may have seen double ely teams in the recent benares cycle

but that's more because of the ice weather and the other ely was still contributing i guess (not fully sure. I just copied homework for that cycle lmao)

yeah. While i did say they are generally balanced, some are more glaring than others in specific scenarios

like let's say some boss has a high hitcount. Sushang, Vita, lantern, ||SW||, etc can help there (guaymas, kalpas, kosma, hos)

or the freeze trauma i mentioned earlier that hle and thelema brings (huodou, kalpas, diabolic k)

you can also evade attacks perfectly to gain ARI, and thelema, rita, and to a lesser degree fws kiana restores a bit more per evade too

hohe has an aim on weapon active utility that only tank nowadays really emphasizes

HLE being SD type has all sorts of SD interactions too. That's a rabbit hole though

you can slow it down with time fracture or specific animations (suspended animations. we only know these from testing. the game doesn't tell you anything)

nowadays just focus on pulling new releases (valk and weapon together). New releases are expected to be longer lasting and every one of them now can be a dps or support. What's important is getting enough of them so you can form all sorts of teams from a few valks

(but also back in later part 1, it's always been supports first. This was because supports can still do decent dps if you have enough of them, and they are the backbone/foundations of your teams) This part isn't important for Vtor

There's also another aspect of the new system which are tags, so while a character has one Ring type (the first shiny icon below their name and levels etc), they might have a lot of Tags icons following it, which can help you decide who goes with who (for example XDC likes to pair with ppl with the "symbiosis" tag)

Tags make the team building more flexible imo! As one character can be paired with many others as long as their Tags are similar

So if you pull the new character XDC, know that she can be used both as DPS and Support mainly because of her Tags :)

Ely initially did see use for thel team to an extent iirc

issue is most of elf buffs including kiaelf are focused on during SO buffs. The damage falls off outside of SO.
And being an elf means you do spend a lot of time outside SO, for situations like nirv where you needed a second SO, hence DS became preferred

Another factor is that not as many people have those 2 elfs ranked or even have them at all compared to kiaelf

Honestly personally leaning towards either saving the card or HoRb.
Hofi is dead outside vita dps cycles (extremely rare now) and for MA the only time I remember using her was on Litost but you need S2 vita for that for good score and I can't even remember the last time the boss ran.

Hohe is locked to enabling thel on SS MA for the most part while GoI and LoA teams take the SSS bosses. HoRb's commonly used in GoI.
|| and I haven't researched the next valk at all but SW with skey is a world star valk while Horb gets the domain resonance tag so maybe she's used there? ||

i gave it a read! i think i'm more torn between getting songque AOp because I don't have any other AOps besides S-rank DS, or just going for the VDS battlesuit herself, considering my lacking options for astral ring valks and especially for SD-type valks. I'll think on it for a little while longer, but i might end up going for VDS. (and i'll wait on the gold card too)

that is a valid way of thinking about it, you have no immediate value so you dont see the benefit
but the idea is that you want to make sure (assuming you are competitive) that you always have an option available, the songque astral op has moments where it is more beneficial than DS (elemental cases as mentioned) and you will eventually pull an elemental unit who might benefit from the slight bonuses

the other option is the jovial deception battlesuit who as ive stated would act as a less cope support option compared to vbm in your ps/fdd/vbm team
she cannot support the current newest ring or any future ring for that matter

so as a competitive player who might value options sustainable in the future, the songque astral op will always be the better choice
but if you want something that will give you benefit at the moment, the jovial deception battlesuit is another option

Depends on what you mean by worth. Backpulling being worth it depends a lot on what you’d be giving up to get it, what you have, when you do it, and what your goals are

For instance if you say really like Durandal then backpulling reign Solaris could be worth it to you even if a meta player might consider it one of the worst backpulls

Likewise backpulling Vita in her first rerun back in Sparkle patch is much easier to justify than doing it in this patch, where she’s basically already dead

Or a backpull that doesn’t compromise a new release because you’re spending money or you lucksacced a normal release is likewise easier than one that means a skip next patch

Probably the least bad backpulls this patch for a new player who only has Xentinel Mei are Badum, Fate Defying Dragon, and Hi Love Elf but I’d need to know more about your situation to give advice that’s very helpful

Name & Avatar Change (F/M)

Changes only apply in Ch.1–3, affecting appearance, voice, and dialogue.

It basically goes through two laps iirc

You should be able to find the schedule from the main menu>news>carnival

I haven't been keeping close track so i can't tell you upfront but i think we're still on our first lap of all the four character reruns

Do note pity carries over within carnival but once carnival is done any pity there doesn't carry over to anything else

And meta wise carnival isn't recommended to spend crystals and blue or pink cards on. Just the free tickets should be spent. This case can be a bit arguable or further discussed though

anyway again every valk has a limited amount of meta cycles they will get

not every valk is equal. Some can stay around more than others but we're not seers so we can't know for sure. Sometimes a valk sticks around stubbornly as a support too but those cases are less notable unless it's a polarizing utility. HLE does have some notable utility but that can also overlap with other valks in some scenarios like JDS. This can always apply to the future as well.

The thing is, we generally get 3-4 dps cycles for a release valk on their debut patch, then it gets more and more niche from there. Therefore you want to get a valk early on their release patch for full 100% mileage in meta use. Depending on who you ask 4 use cases can be big or small in the grand scheme of things. If you favor the valk personally alot maybe you can negotiate a bit more.

i wouldn't call VBm on the team being really good but it's a start to work with. Ideally you do want a second symbiosis for XDC which VBm does not have. VBm does at least fully access Mei's leader skill though with her omniscient star tag.

While FWS kiana is one of her better options, the difference from her alternative symbiosis supports won't be too great. It prob won't matter until high rl or nirvana tiers of abyss.

the thing that matters the most is the subsequent uses after their release since, even if more spread appart, they will also come and will get you demoted if you dont have them, for example, look at the dominance mecha we just had, mistletein is a OLD valk and still came to fuck everyone who didnt had her

i disagree. Keep in mind this is an opportunity cost assuming a limited budget. Backpulling HLE just to cover these niche later scenarios will just screw you over on a majority of the release shill if you miss it in exchange for HLE.

Yes you'll get screwed over from not having HLE when her shill comes around. But you'll also get screwed over from any other valk you missed. You're picking the thing that will least screw you over.

At that point that doesn't matter the most.

The way i put this isn't entirely truthful. There are some valks that can be worse than others and some situations that are more bruteforce-able but that's a bit more complicated for the general idea of no backpulling.

Hi3 is just a complicated game. Generally i do agree but it's also not entirely true. Again some valks do last longer than others and we cannot know early on. (e.g. MA raven vs GD Eden)

so loosely speaking we can only assume new releases have similar meta shelf life and advise them generally unless it's very obvious one of them doesn't look very appealing (qua valks, or any not so notable valk that comes before a highly anticipated release, but these are more speculative)

If you immediately select an option from a box without actually needing what it provides, you may put yourself at a disadvantage by wasting a source of materials that you fall short of later on.

This applies to almost every option box such as:

• Stigma Option boxes
• Material Option boxes
• Blazing Assembly Option (ELF Option box)
  • ELF Part Option boxes
• Weapon Option boxes (Divine Key or Beginner Weapon Option box)

Before selecting something from a selection box, think twice if you actually need what is offered and if you really need it right now!

btw going back to this, keep in mind they are available in foundry now. Prioritize getting 3pc before upgrading

if you plan to get the weapon (not recommended for the same logic as discussed earlier) then do not craft yet. Crafting isn't efficient and should be a last resort. we don't want to spend mats only to have the gacha randomly spit out what we wasted on.

For new stigs, the order to get them are:

1. finish any gacha rolls first if any
2. use the selector box (one is given for each new release on every patch) if you have it

• some people may just want to hold this for collection. You can't get them again

3. craft

• if you're considering this for multiple valks, do prioritize accordingly esp if future new releases are expected soon.

maybe you know some of this already but since you said you're a returnee i figure i cover that since p1 new signature stigs weren't usually craftable/farmable

yeah prob in this case. Just beware it costs 2 source prism and 600 ether fuel per stig iirc. Maybe wait until you can get all 3 for a valk at once.

In the case of VBm stig, since she's a farmable that's a cope support (activate leader skills and nothing more), and therefore generally falls off eventually you can try to hold off on crafting hers as much as possible until you need it or have an excess of prisms to work with (stay above 21 when anticipating a new release. Each stig costs 7 to fully upgrade)

just use the default hammer for now, or you can use the foundry one but don't upgrade it. The foundry one will only give a smidge more personal damage which is already barely relevant when Mei should be doing most of your team's damage.

the reason why i say don't upgrade it is so you can trash it for basically full refund later. once you upgrade it, it's inefficient

Should I Pull AstralOps?

NOO CAPTAIN!

If you are a f2p meta player, you should not pull gacha AstralOps - only players who are retaining or trying to retain Nirvana should consider it if they have the funds (unlikely for f2p players).

Reasons:

• Dreamseeker is good enough despite being free.
• Too expensive, especially if they need SS (~20-30k).
  • AstralOps have the same cost as a gacha weapon, therefore pulling one may result in being unable to afford a Valkyrie's weapon down the line (for meta players, this means skipping said Valkyrie entirely).
• The damage and score increase they provide in Redlotus and below is often minimal and not needed to retain.

Astral Ring Attributes

Allow me to explain, Captain!

"Attributes" refers to tags that every Part 2 Valkyrie has, allowing them to provide benefits for multiple Astral Ring Specializations. Each Valkyrie usually has more than one Attribute.

Each one of the Astral Ring types has one associated Attribute that will make a Valkyrie synergize well with that AR type.
These Attributes are:

• Domain Resonance (related to [World Star](#👶beginner-help message]))
• Omniscient Star (related to [Rite of Oblivion](#👶beginner-help message))
• Harmonized Shadow Star (related to [Wheel of Destiny](#👶beginner-help message))
• Heavenly Shift (related to [Law of Ascension](#👶beginner-help message))
• Symbiosis (related to [Grail of Infinitude](#👶beginner-help message))

Each Valkyrie that has the related attribute will be able to use the mechanics of that Specialization, but still wont have all property of the team leader. For example, Lone Planetfarer has Heavenly Shift, but when she is in a team with [LoA](#👶beginner-help message) she can perform a Super QTE, but wont have the timestop and spam animation unlike Peregrine Sword

Despite being a must-pull on her release, Vita is no longer recommended to pull for.

This is due to a combination of factors:

• New releases take priority.
• Vita cannot support Grail of Infinitude or future ring types.

meta doesn't have to be everything. If you're focused on elysia then so be it. Just be mindful of the opportunity costs you're trading away for compared to an actual new release you'll make better use of.

You'll still make some use of HLE at least when you get her.

It's ok to find your own balance of meta and not meta in this game too. It doesn't have to be one or the other absolutely

but do be more mindful of the costs and what may come in the future that you may want to prioritize more

the reason why meta is even stressed in this game is because you get a significant amount of crystals from abyss, where you do need to play well to clear and eventually compete against other players

we don't have 50/50s in this game as opposed to HSR so budgeting and future planning is alot more consistent.

for any valk you get, i always recommend expecting to spend ~40k crystals

It took me all my easy resources to get to 36k

although part of that cost include the weapon (~17k crystals each) which can be important for

• 30-40% personal damage. Too much to lose for meta dps purposes. every valk can be act as a dps or a support depending on how they are slot in the team now
• some weapons might have important utility.
  • Vita restores alot of Astral Ring Intensity (basically energy so you can enter outburst mode early in the battle, although this is not always important
  • hle restores sp from her weapon active casts with her signature weapon (important for her gameplay flow)
  • i'm not familiar with rita since i don't have her but you can check the wiki or #wiki-consult for that

but anyway the point is, if you're not going to be meta and don't mind the drop in dps and possible functionality, you can skip weapons and aim more at collecting valks

the cost will drop to ~25k crystals per valk at that point at worst

at this point while early game has alot of crystals to cover multiple valks (especially without their weapon) keep in mind it still takes a lot of time and work to get them so yeah

ways to get crystals are very fragmented in this game (prob not new to you when HSR scatters all of its jade income too)

so that's why i brought up the crystal faq. it's pointless for me to say yes or no if you don't even know where to get them
