i'm also not the best to ask about RL. Every time i look there I often see non maxed stuff or weird team choices though. There's time where it can be sweaty or competent depending on the weather (does it want a popular valk? is it a striaghtforward fight to play?)

but otherwise there's room to bruteforce with non best options sometimes too

Maybe not every cycle but it definitely should get you to a level where you comfortably bounce between RL and A3, you'll probably spend more cycles in RL than a3 but in the end this is just a general assumption and things can vary from bracket to bracket, feel free to ask for cope references when you fell like you can do better or also record your runs and ask us for advice to improve.

in that case then it's fine. There will be times in the future where grail isn't as new and therefore will still run less commonly. But these are still times you will appreciate chenxue, and by then you'll hopefully be in the high meta of the game

but you could've always backpulled if you have excess gacha currency later on. they do rerun gacha ops (and there isnt' really a cost discount to getting them early nowadays. Ofc getting them early will mean you can capitalize on their shills more but, that's only if your account is developed and high enough where chenxue's difference can be appreciated to begin with)

Sometimes people have excess pulls or want to pull things for completion sake or a certain scenario, while f2ps are not expected to reach this level of excess crystals at any point whales or medium spenders may do it out of personal reasons or a very specific use case. Also they seem to slow down with the release of new ARs when we compare it to the time between LoA and GoI so there's probably even more time to build up excess crystals for spenders. I don't think that this is something everyone should be doing but just to inform people that are here that it is something to consider if you're highly competitive and don't mind spending a bit more for certain cases

But as always the general recommendation is to just wait until old things fall out of meta and if they're unsure then it's better to play safe

Budget HLE Team rotation

• This is an extremely budget team, don't expect it to perform extremely well, but it will be enough until you get better units.
• If you don't understand what each animation/action is, review the Valk tutorial. attack > events (top) > tactics

HLE is using her signature weapon and stigmata
VBm is using her signature weapon which is available from [P2 Story]( #👶beginner-help message) very early on and Roald Amundsen 3pc
RC is using the standard weapon and Theresa: Gluttony T Fu Hua Musician MB

You can craft Gluttony and roald amundsen in the foundry, supply > foundry (low left)

Fhm is available in the [training shop](#👶beginner-help message)

Try to get RC to S rank while still focusing on getting VBm to SSS rank. This is due to her passive "Subzero Sales" being locked behind her S rank and HLE is able to utilise it quite well

Before the fight

Make HLE the leader
Turn off VBm's QTE

• At the start of the fight, press VBm wa 2x, then shortly before the boss spawns, jump -> basic attack so that hits the boss and that you generate a dot above Coralie's HP bar, then press WA, which consumes the dot and debuffs the enemy (this specific attack also restores ARI if stellar drain is available).

• switch to RC

• WA

• CA

• HLE qte

• WA

• Hold ult until HLE fires her bow

• BA x4

• Hold ult until HLE fires her bow

• Repeat this until the duration left for Elysia's buff "Ever-Blooming Garden" and VBm's buff "Let it burn" isn't enough to fit in another BA x4 + ult, in certain scenarios you may opt to still do basics if [ you nearly have enough ARI to cast Stellar outburst] (SO) ] (entering SO refreshes VBm's buffs) Such a scenario is also demonstrated in the Video linked to this Guide

• switch to VBm

• Jump if you're not in the air

• swap to RC

• if RC's qte was triggered you won't need to do BAs to fill the purple bar otherwise do BAs until the purple bar is filled

there's nothing really atypical about that team structure. Both supports are symbiosis that fits with the grail leader ring type.

Just make sure you understand how PS and HoHE apply their buffs. Buff > Dps until buffs run out > repeat. Usually the major buff effects and conditions come from their stigmata 3pc.

this rotation may get more detailed and may deviate depending on far you want to optimize and what specific fight you're against, but that's the general idea

the general idea still applies. You largely would replace the characters you don't have with ones you do have. In both cases you make each valk do what they need to do to apply their supporting effects

GoI is kind of in between LoA and WoD.

In most cases after setting up support effects, you can just stay on the leader until they run out.

In more optimized cases, sometimes you may swap in a support then use their ult to reset the leader swap cd and QTE back to them immediately.

i also forgot to say to consider doing the stellar drain attacks of the supports too

but as ches said, try out the in game tutorial to see things in action and try it out for yourself

But be aware you probably won’t get everything, backpulling isn’t advised as F2P (but can be situationally fine if you’re spending) and if you backpull for FDD don’t go below 17k crystals doing it so you can guarentee her weapon

• what does 2/4 hohe mean? She has an older signature set that's completely obsoleted now. All newer stigmatas are craftable but the newer weapon is gacha only. The weapon (flawless benediction) is what modernizes her to work in modern (astral ring) teams.
• definitely prioritize new elysia. 40k crystal is roughly the safe cost assuming 0 pity.
• as for badum and coralie, i do not recommend spending actual crystals on them if you're f2p and meta orientated. This is because f2p cannot get enough crystals to afford all new future releases. New releases are generally just more worthwhile than any past releases even if recent.
  • meta is emphasized because abyss eventually becomes a place where you contest against other players. Up to half of your regular (exclude events) crystal income can come from abyss
  • it's ok to be non meta or find your own balance. do specify your own personal objectives if so
• i believe there is a horb bundle but i do not recall the details. maybe #🔮cn-gameplay-discussion pins has more info? or maybe @warped geyser can answer this.
• However HoRb dkey is looking a bit questionable currently. If you're aiming for high meta and/or are spending to get enough money to afford her weapon without compromising future new valk and weapons then it's fine.
  • HoRb will be valued for her niche dps matchups and her weapon will give a global +10 atk to all your valks passively. Not alot but it adds up with other sources down the line to matter at high competitive tiers. Also keep in mind horb is an old valk so other people in such tiers will have her more ranked (S2 or SS is common now. This doesn't mean you should go out of your way to catch up.)
  • HoRb however has no significant support uses. She's still solid at what she does and is relatively cheap especially when your account is lacking atm.

Beginner Weapon Option

Hi, Captain!

Ai-chan recommends that you keep the box until you have a use case for one of the weapons. Both Purana Phantasma and Nocturnal Stealth have their uses. Key of Ego is generally not recommended.

If you insist on opening the box immediately, Purana is likely to have more usage long-term due to the team tdm buff and RC being able to quickly debuff enemies which may be useful for SS MA.

weather in abyss refers to the main stage effect and benefit or disadvantage happening

and it changes to heavily favor one team over another

so one example is a ice weather that boosts ice damage and decreases fire damage

weathers aren't just damage types or elements either

eventually when you reach captain level 80 you will be given the option to breakthrough and raise your level cap and change your gamemodes to be with the more competitive and majority of the regular/invested playerbase

yeah you can delay it but generally this isn't worth doing so

i do know one friend who was busy irl and wasn't ready to handle all the changes though

so that can be a reason to delay it

but typically people delay it because they want to prep to become ready after breakthrough

and usually this is just not worth it

you get more rewards after breaking through and your abyss standings relative to its rewards don't change drastically

cuz sometimes its rlly easy to break and sometimes it takes 10010219248239 years

so first of all some bosses naturally have a second phase. This is denoted by two red dots on the lower left of their hp. This is not exclusive to SD enemies but they can have it too

now the gimmick with SD enemies is they alternate between their current hp (red) and their max hp (white)

they start the fight with the former, but they will have checkpoints throughout it

when you reach these check points, they will swap to the crystal form for a set duraton and during this state, they take less damage and only reduce max hp

if the max hp reduced exceeds their current hp, then both hp will go down

once the duration ends, then it'll revert to current hp (red) and they'll take more damage again

but because the checkpoint is in the way, you can't really avoid the swap to max hp

that's the main idea

from this point there's alot of gimmicks and mechanics to interact with this

but let me start with the second generic thing. When you reach these check points, the boss will drop a ton of shards

these shards when you pick them up, then land a hit, will reduce a percentage of the max hp per shard
Edit: before this happens you can preview how many shards you have and how much duration you have left to land the hit above your hp bar

minor point but some enemy mechanics may drop a shard(s) through other means. You can worry about this when a specific case comes up

but let's talk about SD valks next. They type counter SD enemies (simiilar to how Qua and Img type counters themselves respectively). SD is unresisted however making it nice for beginners to bruteforce clearing some scenarios.

But more importantly they have various gimmicks against these SD enemies

• The main gimmick is they all have some method (varies by valk) to pick up all sd shards on the field

Other gimmicks may include

• JDS and HLE can use certain attacks to force popping a checkpoint early. This is very notable against bosses with a late check point. With these valks, instead of reducing current hp to 40% then starting from 100% max hp, you can use that specific move to instantly reduce from 100% max hp.
• FWS can reduce a percentage of the boss' max hp with her weapon active
• both of these only work once per hp bar (red dot phase)

a few general but advanced ideas to be mindful of are:

• if you have the option to reduce max hp
  • you naturally want to do this early in the fight when both current hp and max hp are the same (so you don't waste time reducing current hp THEN max hp)
  • or if you can do it anytime when the boss is in white hp phase where you're only dealing with max hp anyway (applies to gathering shards and to FWS weap)
• some enemies have multiple checkpoints. Since HLE/JDS only pops one each per hp bar, you may opt to deal with an early check point manually so they can pop a late checkpoint early. This starts their max hp fixed duration sooner, so it can end sooner where you can do more damage.

this is pretty excessively extensive so don't worry about it if it's going over your head. Just make sure you understand

• current hp vs max hp and checkpoints
• shards dropping from checkpoints and how sd valks collect them
• each sd valk having possibly their own gimmick mechanic (it's common to see them together on a team as a result)

and this isn't complete either. More minor aspects can be

• boss specific gimmicks
• or some strats picking up a stray shard to meet some necessary damage threshold
• using a valk that can free roam during a time stop to collect shards (hofi mainly. maybe thelema too?)
  Dont' worry about any of these for now

VBm is pretty complicated though and the tutorials are definitely not fully optimized or perfect

just to add onto it for completion sake, HLE also turns the "checkpoints" into "special checkpoints" which then drops special shards, the only thing that's different about the shards is how much damage they deal to the max HP bar of the SD enemy. Additionally if there is any SD valk on the team every form of SD shard also deals more damage note that this can't stack so wether you have 1 or 2 SD valks on the team the shards will deal the same damage. I thought this might be worth mentioning since you mentioning wanting to pull HLE.

helia is mainly using the aim mode weapon active. If you have her stigs (not recommended) then you can build up to 30 stacks too above her hp bar.

Cora is more complicated but it's mainly her 3 stacks above her hp, and applying her debuff (going to look for an old write up)

both can ult for additional effects but this usually isn't worth in higher abyss. For quantum manifold i think they do slow down the timer so it might be ok?

Usually outside of the first rotation you instead want to just jump attack weapon active, and make sure the buffs don’t ever fully expire so that’s enough

for both vbm and vbs, they get most of their effects from outburst too, so you don't need to manually apply them

you can end it just above (to the right) of that line (if you're sweating for frames. otherwise be more safe and just end it at/past that point)

as you go further in hi3, more of this idea of knowing what your moves do and adding or removing specific ones will be how you optimize specific fights

optimization in hi3 is pretty much finding a combination of efficient moves to best fit into the boss hp bar

what's your prism count like? if you have enough for hle and horb and need the boost from it, then sure spend 6 to craft the full set

VBm is RoO so she can fit into other teams down the line while your account is still underdeveloped, and see strong use in RoO leader teams too

but if your prism count isn't high and you don't need the boost from the stigs then you can hold for now

General Item Usage

Hello, Captain! Ai-chan is here to explain why keeping items is sometimes the best choice.

If you immediately use something without actually needing what it provides, you may put yourself at a disadvantage later on by wasting a source of materials that you fall short of down the line.

This applies to almost every irreversible material choice such as:

• Stigma Option boxes
• Material Option boxes
• Blazing Assembly Option (ELF Option box)
  • ELF Part Option boxes
• Weapon Option boxes (Divine Key or Beginner Weapon Option box)
• Salvaging non-duplicate Weapons/Stigmata
• Buying items using rare currencies (i.e., Supply Shop)

Before selecting something from an option box, salvaging gear, or buying materials, think twice if you actually need what is offered and if you really need it right now!
-# Making these choices is justified if you need those materials to upgrade gear and achieve a higher score in the current cycle of competitive gamemodes. Ask our Professors if you are not sure whether now is a good time to use your items!

a majority of the benefits from newer stig sets are in the 3pc effect. The main team buff is usually here.

Upgrading stigs does not improve 2pc and 3pc effects. It only improves the individual stig effect. (so you can skip upgrading VBm's T piece which only gives dps damage she's not largely responsible for).

unrelated but leveling up stigs improve their stats. M piece doesn't have elemental offensive stats so you can leave elemental dps M pieces at 1/50 to save coins. #👶beginner-help message

Dkeys are the priority. After that there's no definite answer, it's pretty account dependant

buying battlesuits from paid BP have niche use, if you can also get their weapon

or you can consider ranks on stellar key valkyries from reserve works

but don't expect too much from either

Crystallums are a Battle Pass Currency that can be exchanged for Valkyries and Equipment in the Reserve Works. Captains who purchase Knight or Paladin BP can also access the BP Works of that patch for 3 versions.

There are 3 BP tiers offering different amounts of Crystallums as follows:

• Vanguard (F2P) BP: 5 per patch
• Knight BP: 18 per patch

although sparkle and RS are notable for memorial arena strats currently, but this in general isn't important for crystal gain

again this is niche and only major if you're fixated on specific high scores. Otherwise RS on her own is good enough for RL img purposes

while sparkle shines most in quantum scenarios, these are niche as is, and she or theresa are only really major in half of them (kosma and tonatiuh)

also beware sparkle doesn't support the latest ring type (grail)

not to say we will never get older ring types (horb is world star) from new releases but usually newer releases cluster together in newer ring types

just to give you an idea of why having a symbioses support is so Huge for HLE

• With VBm you're now able to get the 3/3 leader bonus from HLE which gives a 20% dmg boost and more MAX SP in SO which then results in HLE having more inital SP in SO

• Symbioses supports also further increase the max SP during SO which provides the same result as mentioned above

• Symbioses supports additionally regenate SP in SO which is extremly important for GoI chars
  To give you a practical example of why this is so huge for HLE lets do some math
  now with all the extra max SP HLE has a max SP of ~1600 in SO, her initial SP is 60% of those 1600 so ~960 now you want to do WA -> WA -> Fully charged ult, said ult needs 1200 SP. HLE can go into SP debt so now she's at ~-240 SP. This is the part where a symbioses support is important since they can now help you regenerate SP for HLE.

• All symbioses chars have 2 ways of generating SP in SO

  • ult
  • an additional move depending on the character

for Horb this move is her Joint Combo, HoRb now generates ~360 SP ( this is with an 50% amplified SP generation from HLE Astral ring Skill)
this now bring HLE to 120 SP and considered that HLE attacks also regenerated a bit of SP/ that my calcs are not 100% the actual numbers and the actualy numbers are a bit higher, then your HLE should have ~200 SP which makes her able to do her WA -> WA -> fully charged ult sequence again. This time you don't care about the negative SP since you'll just end SO right after it.

Without 1 Symbioses support HLE wouldn't be able to do the second fully charged ult which would result in a less effective SO and overall dmg loss

@proper quiver anyway if you're interested why HLE benefits so much from a symbioses support consider going through this otherwise just ignore this ping

also some things here may not be very clear to you since you haven't experienced how HLE is played yet so feel free to revisit this once you're familair with her playstyle

there's also something called "shining trace" which symbioses chars also provide though this isnt as important as the SP that they regenerate
