some valks can at least perform ok as a support without their weapons, but we generally only advise going weaponless when it comes to free pulls on reruns (next patch)

yeah that's a valid reason. You should be even moreso fine for getting FDD's weapon as long as you play then

more early game crystals saved from the valk herself with rerolling and can be used towards weapon instead

i guess last bit i'll note while we're on this topic is that once you exhaust all 1 time sources, f2p income generally isn't good enough to pick up every new valk+weap.

Skipping a full patch once in a while is ok to ensure getting new full valk+weapon. Forcing yourself to pull and constantly winding up with weaponless valks is very very bad.

this also means there's very little reason to consider spending crystals on reruns (backpulling)

but all that said, meta isn't the only way to enjoy the game. Once you understand the game better and know the tradeoffs, it's fine to be non meta sometimes and find your own balance

if you anticipate rolling for the next new valk after this patch, then you can hold some of the rarer materials such as source prisms, honkai shards/ae imaginons, pri arm materials (torus, sc metals), and maybe phase shifters too to prioritize that instead

generally a patch will have cycling content that more emphasizes the latest releases of the patch

but since FDD being your first gacha valk, you can opt to work on her too whenever you feel stuck and expect the improvements to get you past the current obstacle

FDD's early teams might be less punishing than early teams of the next upcoming valkyrie actually

but these are more short term problems. For the most part as long as you're investing in the latest release valks you roll for, you'll prob be fine

i think for now i would want you to most focus on getting crystals for FDD's weapon

story is permanent content so maybe explore more time limited sources (second link in the earlier faq)

although maybe put off the [summer friendship resort] event. It does give crystals but it takes alot of time to do so especially if you choose to slowly read and enjoy it

from a meta perspective you already missed the many abyss weathers that were shilling her this patch but on the other hand she is the next breach support

breach support isn't as important as it used to be before astral ring/p2 though. other options can contest it more closely

FDD does have ignite though but this is niche in the grand scheme of things

handel is a G4 foundry craftable. I rather you get them from that instead of here at exchange shop. The exchange shop may have other things not in the foundry

the cost for handel is quite high though, and not really used by newer valks. If you're doing it for meta performance, you may want to hold off and save your resources for specific niches especially in memorial arena (but ranking high here isn't important either)

when crafting in the foundry, make sure you keep roughly 1200 ether fuel handy too in case you ever need to craft prism stigmatas

If you're building HoT for meta purposes beware she is completely outdated at this point and not recommended. But otherwise for sentimental purposes are fair as long as you understand the trade offs (what else you can be using the resources and time for) and don't mind giving them up

not really recommended to do anyway unless you're an absolute beginner with nothing on the account

or if you really want the character

keep in mind abyss emphasizes the new release of the patch mainly in the first four or so weeks

so getting the valk at the end of the banner duration means you miss this major duration of emphasis. It's small in the grand scheme of things of course but further use cases will diminish as time goes on, and overall you'll probably get more mileage from ensuring you can pick up the next new release early instead.

My main concern is playing with just Badum on the account for a full version

they haven't made farmables to support newer ring type so any team awkwardness is going to exist with just about any new account really

• meanwhile your badum is fully functioning with hohe and sparkle support
• sparkle dps can use badum with vbm coralie too

• and if you are to pick up a GoI leader then fws and hohe can support that
  if this is going over your head then search [faq ring] in this channel

certainly i wouldn't expect a single team or even a few to handle all situations, but i don't think a fresh account will get over that anyway.

The perk of starting over is to reset reallocate your permanent crystals to newer stuff. But obviously all limited time crystals up to that point (past dailies events abyss etc) are effectively lost so I don't think you're really profiting from a restart either.

if this was a returnee account with no astral ring stuff and all their p1 stuff is outdated, then a meta "profit" becomes easily seeable (all crystals spent on that returnee account are worth nothing nowadays metawise)

the other thing i want to say is you may want to move away from the idea of playing only valks you like. This game isn't as lenient about that.

• Story wise, after a certain point you won't be able to use your own valks anymore, and are forced into specific valks. Probably for immersion
• for the main competitive modes of the game, you're competing against other players and not just to clear a flat goal. So you may appreciate any improvement you can get. Some options can get quite close in results later on as you expand your roster with new gacha valks but you may still be more strongly encouraged into specific options.

so older valks over time will get less use cases until they are eventually replaced with something new and shiny

but a valk generally lasts at minimum 1-2 years now especially with longer patches

For beginners my usual recommendation is blastmetal for it if they don’t have a modern gacha battlesuit

Because she’s really quite strong in the ER and you get her weapon for free

Also wrt Ely in specific make sure whatever guide you’re following for her doesn’t use her new weapon because that gives her an astral ring and she’s very different in and out of astral ring, you won’t be able to copy it with a normal bow

• you should notice that there's a different level for characters on er (at least if you check the valk page in er, your normal level is considered level 80 and all skills are leveled but the er levels need you to do shallow sequence or deep sequence to get its mats to level it up, incase your hoh isn't leveled make sure to do her shallow sequence stages first for a good boost
  getting the er levels gives you extra stats that really help
  (if you're unsure what i mean lmk)
• check the elysian realm guide in the pins of this channel to make sure you're picking the right signets and supports, again if you don't understand something from thete feel free to ask here
• what equipment is your hoh using? i can't really backread this but i assume low level equipment?
• also do you know how does she play in elysian realm? because valks in er don't play like how they do outside of it

However it also is heavily daily gated so if you have the time, prioritize it first.

ER does give crystals. Both time limited (weekly deep sequence) and permanent ones (mainly from unlocking a valk there weekly that you have in your roster)

however there are other factors to consider such as which rings can they support and how do their utility compare to other existing supports, are they niche, etc...

hle is the priority, if you plan on being competitive there is no downside to pulling a dkey, especially if it means the valk gets more use cases some of which can be BiS

but backpulling older dkeys isnt recommended at this point, so dont misunderstand my message (not towards you specifically but incase there are lurkers or other who may misinterpret what I said)

although keep in mind pulling a dkey for full price (60 pulls or 16.8k crystals) comes with the risk of being unable to pull on the next debut banner unless you have a huge amount of one time crystals available and a decently large crystal count already

Sometimes it’s also a gear issue or you forgot to increase the ER level of the battlesuit

You want to be able to clear abstinence Elysian realm because the crystals reset every week

So every week you don’t do it is giving up multiple pulls

Mobius should be able to clear just fine with the right signets but you could also try unlocking Valkyrie Blastmetal who is very strong in the Elysian realm
