maybe, maybe not. it depends on if the issue is your computer itself or if your computer is fine and the issue is a broken honkai installation. if your computer is all good then reinstalling would fix. if your computer itself is the issue then reinstalling wont change much

In short, the download is getting corrupted.
You can:

• retry the download
• Manually download the 7.0 files
• Use a custom launcher (check 1st pin)

@dreamy trout @lofty fog depending on what screen you have issues could be just steam having issues or just your ISP giving you connection issues with the server.
This last one should be solve by just waiting for some min-hrs or check the 2nd pin for some ways to fix/bypass the issue

But if you want to stay with the official launcher remember that you can manually download the file with the steps I share before

In short, you have 2 hyv accounts (check the hyv UID)
To play on your account "mobile" you need to link an email and create a password, the. Use that on PC to play
If the email is already link to another hyv account you can't link the email until is free

2. Press Windows + R, input regedit.
3. In the opened window, please locate \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\miHoYo\Honkai Impact 3 and delete it.
4. Press Windows + R, and input %userprofile%\Appdata\LocalLow\miHoYo\ in the opened window. Delete all the files in the Honkai Impact 3/3rd folder.
5. Restart your PC.

After downloading, it shows 'Game Files Download Error.' message. And then change the file name by removing '_tmp' so it becomes '.7z' file and it would work. To make sure, just close the launcher before correcting the file extension.

hard to say tbh, cuz my thought process was that if only one file or so in that 13GB download .7z was corrupted the launcher would get a different hash and go "yup thats a problem" and ask to redownload, but if you make it decompress then the in game download would have redownloaded that one file. actually nvm tahts not the case since the launcher also verifies the 13 GB file. it just didnt rename it from _tmp after it finished downloading. probably that part happens after the download is "complete" but you got the erro before that and it stopped. Either way if you feel like it report it to customer support so they're aware #how-to-contact-cs

i could be that the download was completed but took some time to "finish", and fail on that process so it was never renamed
there is still a high possibility that the download can get corrupted (because of the size), but good for your case it didn't, so when the launcher did the check find that the file was fine

i did that years ago when downloading big files on the browser, but only a small number didn't got corrupted

yea it finishes downloading, it finishes unzipping but when replacing files it gives me that error

try going to your games folder and seeing if theres a BH3_v7.0.0_######.7z_tmp file. get rid of the _tmp part and extract the 7z file yourself, that should update it

or you can try running the launcher as admin first to see if that fixes it. but will still most likely need to uninstall and then reinstall the game to permanently fix it

Like I said that option is only for old account so is not going to work for you, you have to try on the default login screen, if you don't remember anything about how you login, then you can email CS and tell them that you don't remember how to login, giving them your UID

Well this show that your account is on Google account, you have to use the Google option.

as of 7.0 the game is in fullscreen borderless, if you're alt tabbing to something that is on another monitor or the plain desktop it wont minimize the game, you can alt tab to a fullscreen application thats on the same screen and it'll "minimize" otherwise it'll put the non fullscreen application over the game. If you're trying to get to your "desktop" then your best bet is to either run the game in windowed mode or press the start key to get to your start menu to open soemthing else up

Tbh if you already reinstalled, and even try another launcher you shouldn't face any issue unless is something on your PC, could be the drive is failing so the game can't read the files correctly or that the game had a change on the graphics (like shaders...) and are incompatible with your gpu, but the game should open at least.
You can contact CS and see if they can help you #how-to-contact-cs .
Still you can wait and see if other captain know a solution

could you try launching the game directly without using the launcher to see if that works? by default, the path is C:\Program Files\Honkai Impact [3rd glb/3 sea/etc.]\Games\BH3.exe

if that doesn't work, maybe try using the compatibility troubleshooter by right clicking the .exe > Properties > Compatibility tab > Run compatibility troubleshooter

also, you could try adding the .exe into the Windows Defender exclusions list by opening Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > 'Manage settings' under Virus & threat protection settings > Scroll down to Exclusions and click 'Add or remove exclusions' > add the process BH3.exe

well as a company they really cant legally give anyones account to someone who is not the genuine, original account owner. so the form you fill out has to be double checked against your account history and if it doenst meet a certain threshold, aka isnt accurate enough then they cant say as a company that you're the original owner. like you know you're the owner, probably the customer support person working your request thinks your the owner, but they have very strong anti theft policies so they cant give accounts away if they couldnt prove in a potential theft lawsuit that you're the owner if that makes sense

ok so open the game, then go to account retreival and log in the mihoyo login with your old mihoyo account

then after that it'll ask you to log into a hoyoverse account to link your honkai account to, put your hoyoverse account in there and click confirm and thats all you have to do, if it gives an account link error or anything like that then send a screenshot of that error

so when i said your old mihoyo account, customer support will only unlink and then leave you to it if your honkai account exists in the old mihoyo account system, this would have been the login you used before you ever linked your honkai to a hoyverse account, so like your login back in early 2022

thats because it worked the first time and since your honkai account is already linked to a hoyoverse account it cant be linked again and gave the error

if it didnt give an error message the first time then just log into the game normally with the hoyoverse account you linked it to and it'll log you into your account if you're on the right server

when you were at the hoyoverse login during the second half of account retrieval what hoyoverse account did you put in there? was it the exact same login that you used to log into the game? please keep in mind that for example if you linked it to an appleID HYV account and then used an email address to log into the game its possible it could have been a different HYV account.

ok so what happened was they unlinked the new one, but your old honkai account was always still linked to some other hoyoverse account so the account retreival didnt complete becasue your old honkai account was still linked to a hoyoverse account

so what you'll need to do is reply to their unlinked email and say sorry that you accidentally logged into the game and created a new account again and ask if they can unlink the new account for you (do NOT play on the new account, it'll make this process harder)

then in a seperate new email, ask them to unlink your old account, and they'll process that request, ask you to fill out a form and all that and once they prove you're the account owner they'll unlink your old account. once BOTH honkai accounts are unlinked THEN do the account retreival like you just did
