To add to this a little, I entombed a herrera 2 times, failing prime both times. I started at the swamp every time, went to delta after getting past the I'm-so-hungry-feed-me phase, hit perfect diet, and then ventured to east lake/NE lake in one life, highlands and south plains on another, ending up back at swamp both times. I hit several MZs and PZs along the way, both active and inactive (using vulnona and some maps provided in this discord). No prime.

On life 3, I started the same, but went up to north lake (water access? i think that's the right name) and hit prime the moment I was within 100meters of that first waterfall. I had otherwise only touched a PZ/MZ in delta.

As a carnivore you often have very little reason to go to a Sanctuary, it isn't rewarding the natural behavior of the player. Hatching from an egg makes sense to be rewarded, but it's far from a standard behavior...

Infertile is the only one there that makes sense, but I don't think that's because of some grand design, rather it just... happened to be the only one that makes sense through luck.

Oh, nothing in particular, it's not offensively bad or anything, I would just rather the juveniles need to engage with the world in the same way that every other player would presumably need to. That way they are at a higher risk of getting hunted/need to actively scavenge to get past the hurdle of starting a run. I like the environments of Sanctuaries on paper, I would just rather they be... the spawn point, rather than a zone all on their own.

If the game wants desperately for you to be somewhere... there is no reason not to start you off near there. This isn't something like Tarkov where spawning is a repeated action and you have various purposes... Migration zones are pretty cut and dry, and I think that should be reflected with spawning.

A lot of the time when I write out a suggestion, it is with the often times false assumption that everyone present and reading understands the dozen or so other changes that would need to be made in tandem to make that suggestion make sense.

I had an old idea once of the color changing with a brief pulse or two when you reach a threshold. So like in this you reach 50% or whatever and it does a quick lil pulse of yellow, then stays yellow until the threshold changes again.

Finding AI animals is incredibly easy if you understand how their spawning works, even if you don't, just the simple idea of "Linger in an area for a while" is straight forward enough to get you through pretty much any creature growth. Even Rex is really easy to grow on a completely empty server.

You can also consistently get nutrients from AI. Every carnivore has AI on their diet list, once you get perfect diet once, there is zero real incentive to maintain it, just eat the one AI on your preferred species list that gives the most food, and you're golden. Often that's just boar.

Also, again, it's not about me preferring a large map, or a small map, it's about confronting the real issues rather than running away from them. A small map would not solve the problems with the zoning mechanics or interaction consistency, it would just make it easier to get to a hotspot. A larger map has more options and area to work with in all respects, so it's not at all an absurd thing to prefer.

Two main modes, static zones and player based spawns.
Static zones are boxes placed on the map that, when a player is inside of them, AI will attempt to spawn across the entire box, if it is near a player, it sticks around, if not, it instantly despawns. In general, all AI will despawn the second it leaves range of the player. So it's important to stay still in an area, in a vantage point or clearing where you can see your surroundings.

Player based spawns are the server going through the list of players, and having a random chance to spawn an AI around a player at any given point. So, more players in an area will spawn more AI, or conversely, the more empty a server is, the more regularly they will spawn.

So, find a static zone, and sit there, and wait.
Best ones are River Delta near the east jungle, South Plains, and Northeast Plains.

Northeast is the smallest, so it has the densest spawns, often meaning it's the best.

If you are in a jungle... leave the jungle.
But honestly if you are on HT then the jungles are open enough to where it shouldn't ever be an issue of visibility.

If you hear an AI just run around in the direction of the sound and it'll pop up, they might be stuck on the edge of a tree... so just, be diligent.
