Yeah just missing the key part how to get the crops, i read on the website of the mod author that animals can be bought from the trader haakon through cages. So i guess thats the same for the crops. Just want to know where to look for the trader, guess its just random like the other traders. Would be great to know in which biome and if he spawns close to the world spawn
probably some spawn in different biomes like turnips or carrots or onions

If all of your mods originate from Thunderstore, you can use this mod to guide you in finding outdated mods or mods that haven't updated on/after the Hildir's Request game update. Like the mod description says, it's meant to be a guide and tool to help you out, not to find the problem for you.

If it turns out to not be a mod age issue, then it's likely an incompatibility that will be spamming in your BepInEx/LogOutput.log file.
It can be found at BepInEx/LogOutput.log. Drag the file into Discord directly. If you are using r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager open the folder with Settings > Browse profile folder and go to the BepInEx folder.
You'll be better helped by others here if you do the following:

This error here means that the method has been moved, changed args, renamed, or deleted from the base game. This is indicative of using a mod that isn't updated for your current valheim game version.

Anyone know a reason why thunderstore is not running mods, Tried running the modded launcher but it launches vanilla, same goes for if manual installation is tried it still runs vanilla even after adding all the dll files and everything
Never heard of the issue. How are you launching the game?
that is weird, maybe they installed KG's mods and he didnt list Bepinex as a dependency or something stupid.

via steam for manual install and thunder store then modded
what do you mean by manual install? are you tainting your valheim folder with mods?
just use thunderstore launcher for everything, keep your steam folder clean, it does all the installing of mods for you.
if you do have to install a mod manually choose Settings>Profile>Import Local Mod
thunderstore didnt work so tried manual to see if that works
nah dont do that, you will regret it later, it's best to do things right from the start.
ah I see, that is cool, but it's much easier for us to help troubleshoot thunderstore launcher than tossing mods at the valheim folder 😉
When you select Start Modded, does the Bepinex window open?

i tried a couple to things to help him but no results so far
If at a loss I will delete my valheim folder, verify the install with steam and let it reinstall.
I then create a new profile in Thunderstore Launcher, download a few mods and test.
the issue sounds like Bepinex isnt installed in Thunderstore Launcher, or it's disabled from starting in the doorstop config

r2modman is the open-source ad-free version of Thunderstore
There are several Youtube videos that show how to install Valheim mods. Basically it's just a matter of downloading the Valheim BepInEx mod from thunderstore.io and following it's installation instructions carefully. You may have to read through it a time or two but once you get the process, it's pretty simple.
Then find another mod or two that you like and do the same for them.

No, it's better to use r2modman/Thunderstore Mod Manager.
Vortex for Valheim is terrible
With thunderstore does it automatically download upto date bepinex or do i have to do it
Automatically does it for your profile. Updating mods etc...is as easy as clicking the button to update (unless the author gives specific instructions on things in the changelog)

Alright... I've never been good at figuring out mod installations, so sorry if this is a basic problem. I haven't been able to enjoy Valheim basically since I purchased it because the blurriness hurts my eyes. I tried Vortex, read the above convo when I checked here and swapped out for Thunderstore's mod manager. It doesn't look like I've got a thing working: F1 doesn't open a config menu in-game, and starting the game doesn't create a config file anywhere for the custom depth of field mod. Here are my Valheim folders, in case that can help identify my problem.
So R2modman/thunderstore modmmanager use a virtualized setup (profiles).
Which means that your actual Valheim install will not have any of the mod files or configs there.
In R2 on the left if you hit settings, then on the location tab, browse profile. That will show you the Bepinex that actually is used when launching that profile.
Your mods should go in there (they do automatically if downloaded from thunderstore).
For the F1 configs you need one of the configuration manager Azu's is a good one if you want https://valheim.thunderstore.io/package/Azumatt/Official_BepInEx_ConfigurationManager/
Okay, I found the actual mod folder and I'd already installed the config mod. Now, when I open the R2 BepInEx\plugins folder, I see the configuration mod still inside it's own folder. Is that okay, or should I drag the ConfigurationManager.dll out of its subfolders and back into the plugins folder?

Seems I had it installed fine, but I'm thinking the manually installed ones left over from Vortex/myself in the game's standard folder may have been conflicting. Also, I was opening the game via Steam, not R2.

Give it about 15 minutes. Reboot the mod manager and attempt again. It happens from time to time.

Can anyone help me (an idiot) figure out how to use Thunderstore on my dedicated gportal server.
I have a server through gportal and we use Valheim+ for some tweaks but we want to add some more mods through Thunderstore but when I launch through Thunder, I cant get on my server. Just boots me back to title screen.
So I copied the the config mod files from Thunder and pasted them into my Valheim folder and now when I load my game from my server I get this...

Fwiw they aren’t actually virtualised - they still install winhttp.dll to the game directory. The manager passes launch args to the game to tell doorstop (winhttp) to load mods from the profile folder instead
Auga doesn't work on current game version...and BetterUI isn't really compatible with it anyways.
Auga restructures a lot of the UI elements.
One of the most incompatible mods to exist even when it works.

No I did not. I ended up having to delete all the Valheim files, uninstall, reinstall, and then it was good. Still no Thunderstone mods but at least my game isn't screwed.
So progress. That's good. The thunderstore.io mods are easy to use, if you follow a couple easy steps. First, D/L and learn to use the r2modman program. Open it up, get in there and explore it's features for a few minutes until you start to understand how it works.
When you are comfortable with using it to install mods, install them only a few at a time and test the game with them before going on and installing more. If you install a whole bunch of mods at once, and one or another of them introduces weird errors, is much easier to find and fix them when you only have to look through a few of them for the bad mod(s).
Lastly, stick to only installing mods that have been updated withn the last 3 or 4 months or so. Those are currently supported for the latest game patch and likely to cause a lot fewer problems than out of date mods will. 🙂

I have a mod issue. I have been using upgrade world/infinity hammer and 36 other mods for the server. Do or Die has been part of the pack since we started with mods. A few weeks ago I 'reloaded locations' to engage the 'traders' from DoD. That wasnt enough so I wanted to see the traders in already explored locations so I initiated 'genloc' which is when everything turned to 'pot'. The world file was then corrupted and still is. The positive points being: I am able to access the world, copy all exising builds to 'planbuild', build structures, farm, cook. The negative is: Unable to interact/kill or mine, all attack values are negative values, not positive, the instances are 3 times their correct value in most areas. Main town is usually 16k, currently 56k, sound is also effected (guess that's related to the instances), the world file has ballooned from 78mb to 151mb after the genloc/hammer_locations reset. I have dialled back the spawn rate on all of the additional wildlife to ease the instances. Any help appreciated!
I'm sure you've already thought of these things but I'll suggest them just in case.
Can you roll back your world with an earlier backup copy from before you ran the Genloc command?
You can try reseting all the zones in the world with the zones_reset command from UpgradeWorld and see if that fixes the world.
You can recreate a fresh copy of the world from it's seed which you can get by using the 'seed' command. And just bring back in your structures with PlanBuild.
I hope some of that might help. 🙂
Thanks Jaga, I have a earlier copy of the world which I can use. Its from November which is ok. I will try the zones reset with upgrade world. Have not tried that one. The main issue now, is the no interaction with the wildlife. It is also happening on my local folder so must be a bit more to it. I did go into the Upgrade world YAML file for locations and spawns where I added a location and reduced spawn rates of greydwalf. Not sure if that can cause an issue but expect it should not
is there a mod that makes sprinting out of combat consume no stamina
you can outrun most enemies by walking
I press Q to auto walk, wait for some stamina to regen, and then sprint
you shouldn't sprint mid combat because that way you can't dodge roll, block nor attack
i have portal marker and target portal and suddenly i cant go through the portal and choose another one i've made. is anyone else having this issue? it was working fine last night
Did permission on portal change?
Although I think you can still portal through them even if they're set to private if you find them?

the version of valheim plus you are using is broken, use Grantaphers version.
also I would probably remove magicheim as that one I dont think gets updates.

i get the notification that "the forest is moving" but nothing spawns, is there a way to know if a mod is messing with it and if so how do i fix it?
If you have one that extends the workbench range at all it can block spawns, or if your base is just very large and the raid triggered near the center

Anyone use FirstPersonMode from Azumatt? I am wondering if conflicts with Valeheim_plus, even if Plus' firstperson mode section is disabled. When I try to toggle first person mode, it only flashes it, doesn't stay

So I am downloading the mod JTV / Journey To Valhalla and three of the required mods to go with it don't have a .dll file to go with them and I don't know where to find them or if they are needed? The mods are neurodr0me's RRRNpcs , RRRMonsters , and Fantu-PopVillages. FantuPop has a config file with several JSON files inside but no .dll
That modpack was deprecated, please don't use deprecated modpacks and mods

Hey - I've tried to search around for this answer but I'm seeing conflicting information and was hoping to get some knowledge. I want to rent a crossplay server and play on PC/have friend play on Xbox. We're used to playing modless but thought it would be cool to do a nomap server and add a mod that allows the world map to be viewed at the cartography table strictly.
So my question is if anyone knows if this would work at intended for the Xbox players? The way I understand it is - mods should work for Xbox players so long as they do not add assets. Seeing as this is essentially changing the functionality of the cartography table I was hopeful that this was a possibility.
Any insights or advice is greatly appreciated regarding getting this to work!

Appreciate the list. Not very extensive I see. Is there a simple way to determine if a mod would be considered server-side only? Or would I just have to install the mod and see if the mod is functioning as intended?
On thunderstore authors can add the client-side and server-side tags, if they have both that implies the mod needs to be on the client to work. It sometimes says in the readme how it needs to be installed.
Right on, I see what you mean on thunderstore. Unfortunately this author hasn't included those tags so I'll have to wait and see if anyone with more knowledge out this particular mod sees this.
The mod title in question is "CartographyTableMapRestrictions By Aedenthorn" and is dependant on the mod "BepInExPack Valheim"
That one is client side to work properly, so Xbox players can't use it
Thank you Oriana. Theoretically if we did a nomap game with the mod installed then - presumably only PC players could look at the cartography map then. Could create a unique RP where the certain "elders" or "sages" are able to understand / read the land or something. I'll have to think about that one
I have a question, if i remove a mod what happens to the structures that are currently placed in my world from that mod? I want to remove valheim raft but a theoretical answer works. :P the game takes 10gb of memory so i assume i have to remove mods to lower it, nothing else seems to work. but any help is appreciated. thanks
If you remove a mod say one that gives you new roof pieces and the building itself is vanilla. The house will stay but the roof pieces will disappear.
And yes. Certain mods can increase your gb quite a bit.

im playing constantly at 90-95% memory which means if i play for more than 1 hour without unloading unused assets it starts lagging.

Is it common to lag in places where you have a lot of buildings aswell? i dont see why it lowers fps. just badly optimized?
If you press F2 in said area you can see how many instances you have. If it's in the 6,000-10,000 range then yes. That will cause lag in that area

im currently experiencing a compatibility bug between two mods: Seasons By Shudnal and some other mod || ~~ Foraging by Smoothbrain.
when i forage, the seasons mod i think is overwriting what drops the foraging skill is trying to spawn.
Is any1 else experiencing this?

Item drawers and jotunn/jotunn mods isn't working on the server
Ok the list of mods that are off are:
Item Drawers; OdinArchitect; PlanBuild; SeedTotem; ValheimRAFT; Eternal_Fire; HoneyPlus; BoneAppetit; CookingAdditions; MushroomPlus; MajesticChickens; Wagon; CraftyCartsRemake; and MyDirtyHoe
Those are the apps that use Jotun or otherwise made the game fail to let me on the server. Now we have a final list

Can’t get farm grid mod to work on steam deck, i have it installed, yet no grid pops when i start to plant, should i do something in config maybe?
This usually means the server isn't loading any mods, see https://github.com/Valheim-Modding/Wiki/wiki/Server-Troubleshooting
Even if you have other mods and BepInEx at your server, doesn't mean the mods are actually loading. Valheim is mostly client authotive and thus the server isn't doing much
probably a mod calling unpatch all on shutdown.
you should remove whatever mod does this, since it makes the game crash on shutdown, instead of shutting down gracefully, which can potentially lead to corrupted save files.
if you share your bepinex log, people in here can probably help you find the culprit.
it's usually multicraft or better archery.
I thought better archery changed the method they were calling to the UnpatchAll(modname), that prevented unpatching other mods 🤔 I'll have to check those both again
Okay check them, Better Archery is still calling Unpatchall(null) which I think does all mods, so that would cause issues. But the new multicraft fixed theirs so that mod should be fine.

Anyone ever had an issue with infinity hammer where you can't place most trees and vegetation items? I tried disabling all crafting related mods, no dice. When I go to place it, the temp item that you move around to place isn't there, and if you click, your guy just makes the hammer motion and nothing happens.

The official Valheim Plus mod can't be updated anymore since their main dev disappeared, but the project is still being supported under another posting now. The link you shared is the BepInEx pack which you need to install to use mods, but it is not a mod itself, just the loader.

I was also a fan of V+, but I finally gave up on it simply because it seemed like support could end at any time. If you use a bunch of replacement mods, it's fairly easy to plow through their config files if you use the Thunderstore mod manager, which you should anyway. You can browse through each config file from the mod manager, and open it with a simple UI right there - makes changing several config files less of a headache.
That being said, I do think V+ was more convenient, but if you decide to go the many-mods route, I thought I'd mention this for ya.
Loved Valheim Plus, sucks having to have 8 diff mods now to do what V+ did. I still haven't found a new mod to get rid of weather damage to buildings like V+ had. 😦
Yeah, it's a bit annoying, but I've found that (a) a lot of the individual mods wind up being more powerful, for example infinity hammer is superior to the advanced building mode in V+ and (b) it's not that bad going through the configs in the thunderstore mode. Honestly the config files become like section headings in the V+ config. Everything is still in one place.
With individual mods you don't risk of it taking your save, world as hostage.
With individual mods you can update as they release and not wait months.
Any mod maker at any time could quit and leave the mod abandoned, doesn't matter how small the mod is. Using a mod that breaks your game or makes you lose stuff by removing it is a risk people take by installing it.
Used V+ for couple y ears, never had any issues with a save or anything else.
I'd still be using V+ except for one thing, I won't play without SSC and they don't work together. As a builder tho, I hate weather damage.
There's always ways around it but best is to just respect the authors wishes.

If you exit all the way back to game selection in the mod manager it should let you swap for steam from gamepass when you select the game again

hi y'all i got a problem with my mods when i'm launching my game, Azu Autostore is having some kind of "invalid mapping", a moderator of the modded server already told me to delete it's own ".yml" file but it didn't change a thing, does someone have seen that error and got a solution?

If you toggle off bepinex on the server that should turn off all mods, but deleing all your bepinex\plugins and patchers on the server will also fix it. Then you need to restart the server again.

Yes, installing ValheimRAFT and FantasyArmory is what is kicking you. Otherwise, Jotunn on the server wouldn't kick you.

I didn't install mods on the server, it's hosted by Valhost
In the logs you gave me, the server is loading Jotunn. Which means that mod is installed, BepInEx is running...and you will find that inside of the BepInEx/plugins folder on the server.
Valhost lets you install mods from their site right? There's probably a way to remove them from there 🤔
If not, manually remove them via FTP to the server.

Vortex installs broken packages, you can still use it if you fix it, but if you don't mind switching to thunderstore they have a better mod manager. There are some mods that can cause the game to shut down incorrectly and the save won't complete. Or might be an issue with the configs. You can test for the first issue by hitting "logout" rather than quit to exit to the main menu first when shutting down the game, this would prevent other mods from interfering with the save process. If that doesn't work may be the second issue or another I'm not familiar with.
Yeah I aint sure, I only had this and dependency saved, so couldnt of been conflicts. It might be related to my serverhost, either way opted out of installing it, appreciate the tips though
What would cause debugmode not to work, Im set as admin and can use devcommands but debugmode seems to have vanished? Enabling this doesnt help either

And you are using Jere Kuusela's 'ServerDevcommands' mod to allow devcommands, after putting your Steam64 ID (the one with 17 numeric digits) in the adminlist.txt file next to your worlds_local folder, right?
Then, my best guess would be that one of your other mods is interfering with it and causing the problem. Sadly, I have no idea which mod could do that.

Your playerlog file might show an error that could provide a clue. It's in your BepInEx folder, IIRC. Wait... No. it's along side your adminlist.txt file. Sorry.
Well... I dont know what fixed it, but I reinstalled Valheims files on my dedicated server, and generated a new world and the command suddenly works...

hey guys! I installed few mods and I am having no issues playing in singleplayer world with the mods installed but when I join my dedicated server it says "incompatible version". This is a server that I run on my pc using this .bat file so my friends can join anytime when im offline. So will these mods not work on these dedicated servers?

Anyone use SpecialMapMod? When I try to enable it, it just glitches out the games starting menu with weird strings for all the menu and button names. And for the config all it says is "Generate the cfg file with launching the game." I dont see any config file that was generated anywhere...

Was happening in Lethal Company. Mentioned it in the Bepinex discord and no one replied. This is what I sent last night-
My game keeps crashing at random moments. The first two times I had my screen go black then Lethal, Steam, and Discord all crashed simultaneously. I got a driver timeout notification from AMD both times so I updated my display driver and also changed my power settings to be more performance focused.
Game worked for a round or two then had a different crash. All three programs stayed up, but I got kicked to the main menu of Lethal Company (still said More Company). Closed and relaunched. Tried to join but Shift+Tab did nothing. Closed and relaunched again and things seemed normal.
Got through a full round with only one or two lag hiccups and thought I was good. Next round I got struck by lightning while inside the ship. Viewing a teammate started and like a second later, Lethal and Discord crashed. Steam is still open but it's a black window. I have two monitors. Lethal was on the main monitor. The desktop is visible but I can't interact with it and my cursor is invisible when I go to it. Second monitor is perfectly fine and functional.
Bepinex was still running so I screenshotted the last lines before the crash and also copied everything in the window into a Notepad file. Poked around online for what to do with the info I had and ended up in this discord.
Idk what to do. I don't have this issue with any other programs. Thought it was something with my PC, but geek squad found nothing wrong and said it must've been a mod issue. But none of the people I play with (who run the same mods) have had any problems.
Active mods are BepinExPack, MoreCompany, YippeeMod, LateCompany, More_Emotes, NeedyCats, ShipLoot, Runtime_Netcode_Patcher, HookGenPatcher, LethalLib, PushCompany, and LethalThings
So Bepinex was still up cause I guess the window for Lethal had vanished but the game still showed as running. I had to use Task Manager to kill it. As soon as I did, the Bepin window closed and my main monitor went back to normal. Glad I waited to do that so I could have that log saved.
Also I keep the blue light filter on my PC active all the time. Every time there's a crash, the Night Light feature is visually disabled but it says it's on in system settings. If I disable and re-enable it, it comes back.

Re-verify your game files from within your Steam client, just in case. Are you running any kind of Anti-Cheat mod?
Running AzuAntiCheat and I redownloaded the game in the process of trying to connect
Hmmm... That Anti-Cheat mod lets any one with admin access through regardless of whether they have all the required mods or have any 'banned' mods. Sounds like that's the problem.

The 'Whitelist' mods are required and the 'Greylist' mods are permitted. All other mods are forbidden. It checks mod versions as well, IIRC. Good luck with it! 🙂
I just found out Infinitys hammer option for Invulnerability setting "on" caused a bug where when you log off, when you log back on everything would be damaged and no matter how hard you repair, as soon as you log off, it resets, having the option to "Legacy" how ever seems to cause no issues. Took me around 6-7 hours of troulbleshooting, and could maybe only be a problem on my server but, yeah. shrug

It took me 7 hours to figure out the problem lmao. So just wanted to share the information, Ive no idea why it happens, but yeah, legacy seems perfectly fine
Things you built with invunerble though seemed unrecoverable for me. The peieces dont register as needing fixing so I had to delete somethings sadly
Some of those things may be recoverable with the PlanBuild mod. That worked for me. It's worth checking out. The blueprints you made with the hammer that are corrupted may be salvageable with PlanBuild.

The PlanBuild mod has a bit of a learning curve but, once you are familiar with it, it's incredibly powerful and useful. The first thing I did with it was to set it's default build option to "Direct" in it's config file.

If you dont use infinity hammer, it probolly did 95% the work and infinity tools wouild be my biggest tip, you can freeze objects you place, and precisde move with arrow keys, gizmo lets you rotate and many more angles too. Pick Frozen, Pick, and select are my most used buttons, binding move up and down is helpfull too. If I had to give some quick tips

I'm not sure it's connected to SpawnThat at all. It might just be happening that the console log is putting the error there after the SpawnThat info msgs. Did you install or modify another mod on your system just as this error showed up?

1st time trying to run valheim mods, installed them with vortex.
Vortex mod manager does not work well with Valheim. You need to start over and use the r2modman mod manager from thunderstore.io. You'll need to delete the game and mods and reinstall them.

Yes, it does. I'm sorry for that but I believe it's the best of the choices you have. You're not the first to have to take those steps, if that's any consolation. Just be sure to delete it all (except the world_locals folder) to make sure you don't have any problems left over.

That's the right one. I believe the server's settings are sync'd by the server to all clients. See if that's an option in the PlanBuild config file that's on the server.

maxspawned - it checks the area to see how many are spawned, if setting 10 it will spawn up 10 ten in an area
spawnsize min - the min amount that will spawn at a time
groupsizemax / min - spawns things in a cluster or group
interval is how often it checks if a mob is spawned, chance is the % chance it will spawn a new creature.

Mhm... I tried to remove/disable the mod it said was out of date but I still cant use it with the same error, and every other mod seems to be up to date according to modage x.x
I think you'll have to disable them a few at a time to find the one causing the problem. I'd start with any that change or adjust your UI. Good luck with it!

Outdated mod, likely an inventory mod or an old "crafting with containers"
If you have Better archery and another inventory mod you need to disable the quiver to use them together. etc, depends on what mods you're using
There is not any outdated mod, all of them are latest versions and i havent installed the crafting with containers mod
A mod can be "latest version" while also not being updated for the latest game version. If you send me your bepinex\logoutput.log file I can help you better.

Smoothbrain mods will not load if you have Valheim Plus installed. Also you're using a broken version of Valheim Plus, get the grantapher release, that's the one their community is posting under right now
there are often better mods to do what you might want V+ for.
i think these numbers are max number. every map has different sized lands, so it generates different numbers from everything to fit land.
It's not usually something to worry about, it happens when a map is generating and cant place a few things.
like it was able to place 118 mountaincaves out of 160 attempted to be placed, not bad honestly.

The Update All button doesn't update all mods. It looks for mods that HAVE an update for you and loads that in. If the mod has no updates, then the button does nothing. So, is a mod is old and has no updates the button doesn't help.

Why isnt direct build working with the hammer that merges all the mods hammers together?
usually the issue is old mods, or mods that havent been updated in the last 5 months, but the way to find the issue is your LogOutput.log file located in the bepinex folder.

yeah, the bigger shame is authors that abandon their mods and didnt bother to return to deprecate the mod if they dont plan to update, there isnt really a way to flag someone elses mod as not working so as mod users we just have to understand their last update date is pretty important.
it's not easy modding a game that is in EA, things are going to change, and mods have to evolve around a game, so update dates to the game you can see as "protentional mod death dates"

Did you remove EAQS too, didn't change anything else about your mods? There is a file in the bepinex folder called logoutput.log that would show any errors you have. If you send that to me I can look for issues.

it's not bad to use a collection/modpack, but the same thing applies with those as mods, make sure they were recently updated, it means someone is out there fixing things they find wrong.

I fail to see any problem, the photo says you're carrying too much, but you can simply drop the stuff on the ground?
That is my stuff on the ground. Inventory is empty yet still 1680 lbs over carry capacity due to a some random crap an unspecified mod did to me. I opened a standard chest full of silver ore and went to remove a stack, suddenly there was a flicker and all the inventory slots were full of some Icon I didn't recognize and then it was empty, but there was now a scroll bar on the left of the inventory and amny slots.
When I went to drop items I barely made it to that cart. Emptied everything but still frozen now. No Ore is Apparent. So it seems that It hit me so hard with the value of the chest contents that it's a cavity search issue now.
Sounds like a mod incompatibility or recent bug 🤔 Would need to see what mods you're using. Easiest way to do that would be to share your bepinex\logoutput.log file, but can't share it in this channel so you can dm me it and I cna take a peek

If you have a thunderstore mod manager you can find the folder location from settings -> browse profile folder
you try killing yourself... not you as in you, but your player character.....
sometimes that fixes things.

It got fixed, looks like it bugged out and combination of refreshing the character and/or mod updates resolved it
I've noticed that with Seasonality recently, the game graphics are freesing after only a couple minutes starting. anybody else using it and noticing?
Yeah, we tried the killing thing and it totally killed my game, lol. had a 4 second count between frames, couldn't even bring up menu to exit game and had to kill it thru task manager. Updating all mods fixed it.
Recently updated my mods and now the Bepinex logs are filled with this message
The weird thing is that 2 of my friends play with the same mods and their client is fine
So I'm left with no idea of what the problem really is
Are you using Valharvest by chance? That error was appearing for that mod, not sure if it causes problems

I set up a config for it and only a single item from that config is for sale. I used the format of the Vanilla items in the config using copy/paste on notepad++ and changed only the ItemIDs/prices/world keys, etc.
I'm PRETTY sure my itemIDs and worldkeys are correct as I got them from the wiki.

BepInEx modpack console shows up when starting game and doesnt close.
I downloaded the modpack and the console shows up every time when starting the game, it doesnt go away and when i try to close it, it just closes the entire game. Mods also doesnt work
Vortex 😅 you have to manually remove "vortex worlds" that it installed. I think it's under the BepInEx plugins folder
Looks like it also gave you inslim, whoch you'll want to remove to get clean log files

And I think build share is outdated, use plan build https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/1125. But you'll have a much easier modding experience if you swap mod managers in the long run
I heard rumors they are going to be fixing vortex or replacing it, so hopefully they get Valheim sorted out in the future
lol, well I know they arent happy so many authors are choosing other locations to upload their mods... they wanted to be the "one" source for them, well because they are a company and want all the traffic/ad money. So I expect with so many using thunderstore, or the bethesda site for their uploads and refusing to upload to nexus with "new mods" the place has turned into a source of outdated mods and EA chasers that jump game to game.

I'm particularly interested in crafting/building from storage, better building, and teleporting without restrictions.

I can help by checking your log file if you send it to me, it will show what mods you're using and any errors. Under the bepienx folder, logoutput.log, have to dm me since you can't share files here
hey guys, i got an issue running the game with mods using thunderstorm mod manager. i got copied the log from the cmd window before it closed and can provide that thing if that helps somehow, theres lots of errors and warnings in it and game just wont launch.
how do we know if any of the mods are safe to install? like there is this odinswatch anti cheat. is it kernel lvl or not
The only risk you can get from installing mods for valheim is mods incompatibility which prevent your game from starting up..or just act weird until in crashes
All mods from thunderstore are safe to use cuz files go through moderation and checking for such things
Personally, I'm always wary of any mods that aren't on thunderstore.io I just wonder why they wouldn't be there...
Mods can also modify your save games and make it incompatible with the vanilla game in the future, which can delay you from accessing new content until the mods are updated. It's not always possible to just remove a mod and have everything hunky-dory.

If you're looking for an anticheat Azuanticheat is well known and trusted. I think I saw the mod you were talking about got added to thunderstore then quickly was taken down 🤔 Thunderstore got a new anti-malware verification system set up so if a mod exists on thunderstore for a while it's likely to be safe to install. But downloading anything from strangers on the internet always comes with risks.

I've added the ComfyMods Intermission mod, I've added only .png files to the /config/Intermission folder, but the loading screen is only blank white and its still using the regular loading screen. Is there anything I'm missing?

You put the mods everyone need on whitelist and pptional mods go on greylist.
I meant that you need to understand that when you install anti-cheat you're creating a list of mods that players will have to have whether they want them or not. And you're also creating a 'grey' list of other mods that players can have if they want but are not required. All other mods cause the player to be banned. So, anti-cheat does not reduce the mods that players need. It often increases them.
We have 5 mods atm.
If that's the original ValheimPlus, it's likely to both not work right and create errors on the server. You should consider upgrading it to this version: https://valheim.thunderstore.io/package/Grantapher/ValheimPlus_Grantapher_Temporary/
And the Dungeon Reset mod is a somewhat out of date and has had some reported problems that do not appear to be getting fixed. You might want to look for another mod at thunderstore.io that does the same thing and is more currently supported.

No. It's not that simple. BepInEx is a mod loader not a mod. You need it if you have ANY other mods on the server. And the Jotunn library supports other mods. In this case the dungeon reset mod.

'Relicheim', 'Jewelheim,' and 'Road To Muspelheim and Niflheim' are all good. Or anything by Jewelheim, really. They're well supported and have their own discord you can visit for info, updates, and discussions. And you can fiddle with their configs to adjust them to suit your preferences, although you don't have to. 🙂

Could someone give some advice about Smoothbrain's Sever Characters? I have a world where we did not want backups + a CharacterTemplate, so every time someone logged on, they had a new character with specific items and skills, which worked great! However, my admins are kind of tired of having to spawn in hammers and tools every single time they log on and aren't near where they were building. I tried turned Backoff = Off and removed the CharacterTemplate file, but it still isn't loading in with items. Is there something I'm missing? Am I able to exempt Admins from the new character with every log in?

If ur mod is tagged as client and not serverside then no, you can play with client mods with out other people needing them
heh, is that how that works? I usually tag my mods as Client and Server, however, I dont use Server Enforcement. If the mod is placed on the server it syncs the config to the clients, if it isnt put on the server it just reads the client config.
Yeah its why theres a whitelist mod, to stop people using mods you dont want them using on ur server. Most configs are server synced, and overide other peoples config files, but most settings that dont get over-ridden are just key bind settings and such
yeah, I usually suggest any server use azu's anticheat to enforce their modlist because the mods I make as OdinPlus just use server sync and not enforcement.
Server sync just helps old mods load, doesnt have any say in what mods people can use though? unless im thinking of something else
probably something else, Serversync is something we add to our mods so they read the server config, it's sort of like a reference/lib - in the code we can enforce server requirements or just sync configs if the mod is on the server.
Ahhh yeah I got it confused with a diffrent serversync, Most my configs will say like "Synced with server" and some mods even have optional overrides. I love config files set out like that, Mods that arent tagged server or client are a pain though aha
That's why I enforce all my mods to be client + server so there's no confusion!

Hey guys, is there a recommended way for getting mods? I'm not super familiar, but tried through Vortex on Nexusmods & it bricked Valheim until I uninstalled it (just had Bepin and Eternal Fuel or whatever)

no i havent touched any of that, the only thing ive done myself is make those folders i mentioned. unstripped_corlib and unstripped_managed
it was giving me errors for those not existing and another site said a fix is to make those folders in my valheim folder

i would highly recommend you use r2modman tbh, and to set it up after removing your valheim files and regenerating fresh ones

you won't start a new game, your save files are stored either in steam cloud or in your save directory, i'm talking about the game folder itself

It's recommended that if you're changing your UI inventory size, that they might also need the additional slots. Otherwise you'd bug their inventory out since they cannot grab from your tombstone etc.

Always keep player inventory sizes and such synced and the same. If you have 8 more slots than they do (or special slots), you could lose inventory if they pick up your tombstone...or they could bug theirs out since you attempted to add more to their inventory than it can handle.
Do mods brick controller support or am I just having weird problems? I tried through Nexusmods first & realized the app was garbo, then moved on to thunderstore and didn't run into any errors thankfully, but my controllers stopped working.
Not all mods support controller since very little PC players use them.

Fair enough. I had just tried EternalFuel I think it was called, and oddly my controller just didn't work after installation even from the start-up menu.
Like the game didn't recognize it at all, the usual gamepad buttons were absent.
im trying to play modded and i played it a few months ago but now it wont let me create a new character if i start it vanilla it works fine but if i try modded it doesnt work
Sounds like you're using old modss that haven't been updated or have other issues. Pay attention to the console/log window that boots with the game.

Basically, when using mods they load up, but my biomes aren’t generated. No trees or anything past the initial spawn area and a few meters out from the stones. I only have a handful of mods and theres no updates for them or conflicts thru vortex ive checked. Not sure what is causing it. Unless its cuz im running the play test version

most all of us will suggest using thunderstore, or R2modman to install mods, it's just a bit better for us to support and easier for the end users. gives them way more options to mod valheim and share mods with friends.
If by play test version you mean the public test branch that shouldn't cause issues, that should be the same as live right now. But it will cause you problems once Ashlands is released for play testers, so I would swap to the none beta if you play with mods. Vortex installs some broken packages for you automatically, it can be fixed but it's easier to just swap to the thunderstore mod manager if you don't want to have to fix it manually.

I assume this is the iteminfo.json but I can't find any bad syntax in the "defeated_queen" lines. Can anyone help me hone in on what the 17, 9, 245 and 282 mean when opening the file in notepad?
Would it be the 9th total item in the defeated_queen lines? Or the 9th instance of defeated_queen coming up in the file?

hello, i'm having some issues with the SmarterContainers mod, i don't seem to get how it works while using this icon.

I havent seen anywone use the mod so I dont know anything about it, but as long as it was updated in the last few months it should be ok. if it hasnt been updated in the last 4 or so months then it means the mod may be broken.

I'm new to Unity games and mods. After I run run_bepinex.sh, do I need to keep using that script to run Valheim w/ BepInEx or does it somehow wrap the game executable in a way it auto-loads the BepInEx stuff?

I would suggest using r2modman, thunderstore modman comes with overwolf (not that it's harmful but it pushes advertisements at you).
Yes they are safe, much safer than vortex for modding valheim if you're worried about errors and things. Most authors upload more mods to thunderstore, nexus only has a few that update there and a whole lot of broken mods that dont get updates.

best advice I have for you with modding is to search newer/updated mods over "most downloads". Mods that are older than 4-5 months without any update may not work, so just keeping that in mind it helps what mods you might select.
hello! i am about to fire up a new dedicated server, this time i wanted to try mods since the last one i had around the early release of the game was pure vanilla. i have been watching a million tutorials and i am familiar with running servers and adding & updating mods from running servers for quite a few games over the years...
my question is generally how compatible are the valheim mods with each other as long as you have the required dependencies and try to avoid the listed conflicts? i really wanted to start small with modding... but i keep running across so many little QoL mods that i would like to try lol. i'm not sure if i should add them in small batches and keep checking for issues or make a modpack and just see what happens? i dunno if adding or removing mods can potentially corrupt a world or if it is relatively safe to do after the server has been running for a while?
i've had servers for other games with hundreds of little one trick mods, like my project zomboid server had 300+ mods... the issue was that sometimes ONE little needle in the haystack would cause people to be unable to connect to the server even if they had the same version of the mod that was running.
i'm just trying to gauge how best to approach setting up the server initially. i know pretty much which mods i really want to have and which are just ones i might want. the clients will be just irl friends and will all have the exact same ones as the server at all times.

i was thinking of doing the ones i RLY want first, like Valheim Raft etc, ones that have been recently updated and seem to be highly recommended by pretty much all the mod guides ive watched recently... but there's so many.

There are a few people who stand out, they ask the authors lots of questions, make sure they use updated mods in their mod packs and try to maintain those modpacks. Using those as a base isnt a bad idea. https://valheim.thunderstore.io/package/JewelHeim/?section=modpacks
They went and learned how to configure the yml files and everything so their modpacks are a good example.
However, the best advice again is using mods that are maintained and updated, usually you wont have problems with those and if you do then you know the author is active somewhere to address any problems or conflicts you run into.

lol i'm goin thru the ones i selected to see which are recently updated. some i rly wanted are no longer supported so that makes it easier to choose. a few are only for more end game stuff so i hope adding them in later wont break things... but that's what backups are for i guess >.<
Like gravebear said, the Jewelheim packs are good examples, all those mods are compatible with each other. But mods are always changing, especially with game updates so two mods that are compatible might break at any time. If the author is active you can usually get them to fix it if you report the issue.
I prefer vanilla servers. Can’t mod on Xbox so I like it to be the same content regardless of the platform.

it looks like ones like valheim raft and stuff like that are hopefully gonna be pretty reliable. i was sad to see the magic overhaul one i wanted is broken now. it looked pretty cool. the magicheim one looks like it's not rly done yet and magic plugin looks decent but maybe OP for early game.
we did all the way thru vanilla when the game came out. this server will be private only for myself, my wife and our friends. we're all on pc so the cross platform limitations won't be an issue.
i know they added magic into the game but i liked the idea of having classes like healers or summoners/warlocks/necromancers, etc rather than just pew pew pew mage.
i mean when we played there was legit no magic... so i guess any magic is somethin 🙂

I love Magic Plugin, it might be a little buffed but you can find other mods (Wackys database, bit of setup) to change the stats if you want, or up the game difficulty if it's too easy.
Raft I would recommend staying away from. It is buggy and the author hasn't updated it in a long time (someone else has been reuploading changes but don't think it solved the bugs?) Many people have logged back in to their raft being a black hole of build pieces. So keep that in mind
ah i also looked at odins ship and some other ones.. i dont rly need to build a ship bit by bit... but the original ones are kinda meh
joining the larger modding discords, tossing your logoutput.log into their channels they have for log reports often helps to identify what is causing problems. They have bots that read the logs and point out potential errors and outdated mods.
oh nice! yeah i've seen some mentions of forums as well for bug reporting etc, i haven't checked any yet tho
I've played with Odin Ship before and really like the variety of boats it adds. There's two other boat mods I have heard of, Shipyard and Boat Additions
i mean im def not lookin to make my own mods... im too old and slow for that kind of stuff anymore heh
but yeah the QoL stuff that's possible now with inventory and all the farm and cooking stuff my wife rly wants seem like good additions to vanilla... the stuff with a million armor and weapon options are just overwhelming lol im like uh there was like 5 sets of armor total... i can't

i just saw a lot of warnings against the big multi funtion mods like valheim plus or whatever even tho they did look handy

the devs already added options for some of the most bleh things like not being able to tele with ore etc... all it did was make people log to a solo server and drop everything.. go home and go grab it from the solo... or just console spawn in everything
If you don't plan on using most of Valheim Plus I would stay away from it because it can cause a lot of mod incompatibilities. The stand alones often have more features anyways
so that was a nice thing i guess to save some loading screens lol.
yeah i dont think i need most of the options it has. a few look nice but ive seen mods for everything at this point. it is kinds of nice when they are known to be compatible tho. i'll look at some of the modpacks and maybe just start there tho. i kinda like the new start struggle anyway, it only happens at the very start of a playthrough

The page on thunderstore says only the mage class works... but im watching a video right now (with a link to the tunderstore page for the mod) that says the druid class is also available? the patchnotes say they did add the druid, just wonderin if anyone tried it and it's working or somehwat working?

Does anyone know a mod to improve my fps?
less fire sources for light and more lanterns... most fire sources have an audio loop, several layers of particles, fuel scripts, and aoe collision running on each one, less of them things helps my fps most.
there are mods like Crystal Lights and OdinsKingdom where I have reduced fps light sources, but that is my opinion on what hits fps the most, they over-do fire/torches for lights.
that is if you dont have mods causing errors or anything.

Can ANYONE help me, I use thunderstore for mods, and launch valheim through xbox game pass ON PC. I can join modded worlds but when I try to join a modded server it tells me instantly I could not connect.
Do you get an error msg when trying to join the dedicated server?
just "error failed to connect" instantly but i joined a random community modded server
There are only two kinds of servers. Either in-game server or dedicated server. The server you're trying to join is in the server list you get with the Join tab when you start your game?
Yes! I do join game add server, add the Ip then it adds it but has the little red x in the bottom right of the white symbol then if i click join it instantly says failed to connect
It sounds like the server is not active. Go to the geekstrom.de/valheim/check site and put in the same IP address and port number there to see if it can find the server.
The server is up, im in their discord and there is players on it AND I checked that website already and tried using that Ip (which was the same) and still nothing
does crossplay have to be enabled even though I am on pc but going through xbox game pass pc? thats what im wondering if thats the problem
Oh, you're using game pass. I can't help with that. You can try asking in the #xbox-bugs-discussion channel here. They may have experience with your problem.

When someone is playing Valheim on their PC, using the MS game pass version, it appears that they can actually use some mods in that environment but not others.
It also appears that they don't get the helpful Jotunn error window at game start up that tells you exactly what mods are creating problems trying to connect to a server.
So, what can they do to determine which of their mods can be removed to try and connect to a particular server? Is disabling or removing mods one or a few at a time the only way they can determine that?
Is there a list somewhere of game pass compatible mods? Are there any clues as to what kind of mods you could or could not use in that environment? Do they get a log file that helps track down particular mod errors in that situation?
And finally, apparently you can't just go to the #xbox-bugs-discussion channel for answers to these pame pass issues/questions. If you try to get help there they just see the word "mod" and immediately refer you to this channel.
Scroll back a bit here and check other recent posts from @latent drum and you'll see that he's already spent a bit of time on this server trying to get some help with his issue.

We didn't see him ask a question after asking his question. It's not elitist or anything. Also, not like we are here enough to see 2 days worth of shuffling around and such. He was asking to ask, instead of just asking in the support channel what he wanted to ask.

The recipes unlock in order of progression, so you have to complete the previous set before getting the next, that is all I know.

So if the mods are added server side. It makes no difference if I’m on Xbox. They will still work fine
If the mod works server side you can effectively use them while playing on xbox. I think "grow anywhere" is a client side mod so won't work for you

Grid farming can be done with "Plant Easily". Theres a ton of different torch mods on thunderstore, each works slightly different. And auto-storing to chests can be done with either AzuAutoStore (thunderstore), or Smarter Containers (officially on nexus only)

hey all, im wondering if making my own modpack for a small private dedicated server is necessary or is there another, possibly easier, way to get my friends and family a list of the mods they will need to join the server? i looked into how to make and upload modpack, but im not sure if you have to edit the manifest each time a mod is updated or will the links in the pack point to the newest version of each mod automatically regardless of the version when you follow them to install? i figure once they are in the mod manager they will be kept up to date anyway, but for a fresh client does the pack need to point to a specific version? i guess even if the link somehow went to a previous version the mod manager would indicate an update was available?
I was thinking of maybe making a spreadsheet i could share or even an email with a list of URLs if the modpack info needs to be constantly updated?

Hi i have valheim on steam and i use Thunderstore to play with mods i created a new valheim mod profil and i now when i try to start the game it says error The System cannot find the file

Okay, I reinstalled the Thunderstore Manager and selected the game folder again. After encountering another error, I tried launching the game through Steam and then closing it, which resolved the issue for me. Everything seems to be working fine now.

honestly I would just go through your list, if you see anything that says "last updated ages ago" (hasn't been updated in the last 6 or 7 months) then I would just turn it off and test.
I think some you have are a year old or more and just are broken
most of the modding discord have a bot that you just toss your logs into a channel and it tells you if things are old
