You can drain the pool and collect the tar from the bottom but then after that, only the blobs will provide tar.

In theory, every boss fight is intended to be do-able in level 1 gear of that tier. So you should never need max of any armour.

Other than waiting for a mob rush, is there a way to check which bosses have been killed in a server? Loaded up an old one that has ||Moder|| and ||Yagluth|| boss locations but I don't see the trophies at spawn or in any chests. But it was a multiplayer server so it could've been in someone else's inventory.

Figured it out by checking Hugin history. Saw the one for the third boss reward and not for the fourth. Double checked the wiki to see what the reward was and realized I definitely haven't gotten the drop.

Yeah. I can assure the cause for the issue is outdated mods, even some comments on that post suggest that. So removing them and deleting unneeded folders in game files should fix that.

You can open the files of the game through Steam and delete other folders on the game files and leave those only, then verify your files.

yessir, base files, still gave the base broken hotbar, dropping items 1 by 1, until a wood bow dropped and inventory returned to normal !!!

though now, I have 4 dragher fang bows (or however its spelled havent relearnt that yet!), and a black metal shield and spear

i remember the spear being there from the base hotbar initially but didnt see the bows till now

just interesting, that I copped that weird bug, both times, on both installs, 4 years apart !

and on completely different PCs, this is 14900K, previous was 9900X

When I start a game world, most friends can play, but one can't join. I have the same issue when I try to join them. They don't get a chance to put in their password.
They have been able to join once when they made a new character, but if they log off, they are unable to join again and get the same issue shown.
We have the same mods, both added the needed ports and .exe into our firewall, verified game files, updated drivers, restarted the server and out computers, and nothing has helped so far.

You need to kill first boss. You mentioned to focus on farming, which can only be possible after killing that boss. It was to be assumed you already had access to it

You’re going to want to make sure you have a decent base setup, a decent selection of weapons, and some decent food. Also, if you haven’t found any yet, keep an eye and ear out for bees in abandoned buildings. You’ll want to have them at your base as well.

Eithkyr is weaker than troll

just keep that in mind

In general, the flint knife, flint spear and bow + fire arrows give the best result. Flint axe, stone axe and club are a bit worse, but it's still possible to defeat Eikthyr with those weapons.

Main reason: it's the tutorial boss, thus he's not as hard as the other bosses you need to defeat after him.

Still, if you opt for melee a shield is a "must have" and you better practice your dodge-rolling.

If you opt for using the bow and fire arrows, keep in mind that you need to hit him from a distance, so constant movement and terrain management is a "must do".

The longship can out run a sea serpent if you need, the karve its a little closer of a call, you really need a head start. Longships are easier to control, especially in a storm.

If you're playing on a dedicated server or with friends with someone hosting, the longship is also less likely to capsize due to lag.

Plains is by far not as hard as biome 6 and 7, if you a tad scared, sail (carefully) and build an island base, island are super defensible. You can also defend a base quite well with a moat or dirt walls (hoe is a powerful tool) You can also raise a base area high enough and steep enough that monsters cannot walk up, so the only problem there are flying mobs. But yeah island is what a lot of people like to do for safety.

Also do you know about "spawnproofing"? Some (player base items) prevent monster spawns and on an island depending on its size you can make it so nothing ever spawns in.

You can build in whichever biome you like but to start with meadows is good, you can grow a lot of things there, in terms of landmarks it’s not important because you’ll get fast travel soon or maybe already have it

I have quite a decent laptop and usually play at 80 fps. Snowstorming in the mountains is a real problem since it means that I either have to play with low fps, so I can't react fast enough, or I need to do something different.

The difference in defence between iron and root is larger than the difference between bronze and troll so iron armor is more viable

It's similar.

Iron offers more protection, but got the movement penalty.
Root is offering less protection, doesn't have the movement penalty, but got some nice buffs that makes it worth it.

Root would be a good one for your g/f, as it gives a great boost to ranged.

And don't worry about "wasting" iron.
That metal is in demand for the rest of the (known) game, so you will often return to swamps to mine more iron any way.
Or use another method in the Mistlands to gather iron. Or even mine it there.

So if you think the iron armor is the best option for you, just go for it.
It might take you a bit longer to get all the materials for all the weapons, tools, armor and its upgrades, but eventually you will get it anyway.
And sometimes, taking more time to gather resources is useful as it will also mean you will fight a lot. Which in the end will make it easier to understand the movements and habbits of the monsters you encounter and how to deal with those.

It really all depends if u wanna be tanky and be slower or be light and fast, my brother runs wolf armor since we got to mountains and ive been running fenrir with wolf cape cuz no fenrir cape, wolf armor has double the armor fenrir has but I move like 60% faster than he does, and I'm resist to fire dmg, personally we have been tryna make every armor type in game from troll and root and everything from wolf forward, root will give u resist to pierce dmg aka bows spears and deathsquitoes in plains but weak to fire but is light weight good for a bow user in plains biome so id recommend that for ur gf, if u wanna be a tank to be in front of her go with a heavy armor with a scale sheild u can get scales by dragging serpents up to shore with harpoon and killing them, iron armor is lot better than bronze and as sum1 said if ur used to bronze u won't notice much of a difference in ur movement anyway, so it really depends on ur playstyle and how u like to fight and what biome ur in

I like yo mix up my armor when I remember to do it. The root chest Is really good in the plains and mist. I run ferris alot just for the speed. But I've noticed it's not as fire proof as the say. The higher the torch fulings the faster you burn. But even a normal one can do some good damage if they hit.

You need two files, one ending in .db and one ending in .fwl both named after the world.

You need to go to C:\Users\ "your user name" \AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim and there you should see worlds_local folder where you will find the .db and .fwl files. If you dont see the worlds_local folder that means you have it on cloud but you can move it to local in game 🙂 (the appdata folder is normaly invisible btw)

thanks Asatru, I have just setup a local server, and just succesfully tested connection to it, does cloud mean the world is on my local server atm, or on IronGates servers ? (if thats entity), searching the linux servers file system dont find *.fwl, so presuming its in 'the cloud', does the local game server only process the game and has nothing to do with the saves etc ?

I used to help manage an online server years ago, and it appeared to have them locally

The way valhiem works is using the players device to run a lot of the code vs a dedicated server. Whoever loads an area first is the one who is running it for everyone else. My guess would be a hardware issue for one of you.

Example: I played on Xbox with my cousin on PC. He loads an area then I come in that same area and it's not too bad for us both. If I load an area first, he is lagging everywhere cuz my Xbox is a glorified potato (Depends on a lot of stuff like how many mobs/builds you have)

curiuos about multiplayer spawn rates in the ashlands. there is a lot of discussion online but it is difficult to tell what is current and what isn't. if the server is set to "normal" difficulty wtih 4 players the spawn rate is non stop. is this by design? is there some trick to stop/slow it that we simply haven't found yet? as it is, there isn't time to loot or regen stam/eiter before a new wave is bombarding the party. progression has been pretty good up till now with 4 people but this feels wrong so I'm wondering if it just us, a mechanic we are missing, or something that is likely to be changed as more patches are released. thanks.

its possible, its been consistent across many hours of play. 1-2 players and spawn numbers are pretty "normal" for the ashlands, 3-4 and it goes crazy. will do more specific testing next time we play as a group. if an enemy spawning is triggered by player proximity or presence, i.e. if a player crosses a collider there is a 5% chance of an enemy to spawn unless there are more than 10 enemies or something of that nature.... then if 4 players cross that collider there are 4 rolls and though the rate is 5% it would appear that it is higher since it will hit more often.

it would be pure rng, the rate would be the same, but the odds are higher in that sort of system. i don't know how it works in valheim though, but if spawn rate doesn't scale that would account for the observed effect of having 4 players.

still, will test more.

Guys if i wanna make a greydwarf eye farm right do i have to use standing brazier or can i use other sort of fire trap that can kill them

A campfire or a bonfire in a pit below their spawn point works well enough.

Just make sure the pit is large enough to cover both the nest and the area around it so they will drop in when they spawn.

I usually build the thing, remove the workbench and get out of the area. Only to return half an hour or so later to pick up all the resources, before leaving again.

That answer was to your question how fast a bonfire kills the Greydwarves.
It wasn't about using a hanging brazier.

If you want to know it, build the things yourself, turn on the stopwatch at your phone and wait for a Greydwarf to spawn and getting killed, while timing it.

I'm not going to do that, because I simply move away from the nest and spend my time doing useful things - like gathering other resources - instead of wasting my time to watch something to happen.

I know the hat is really cool looking, but might be worth it to use the helmet. But if you’re confident in your abilities, I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Biggest thing you’re missing though (aside from food, but you addressed that) is fire-resistance wine. That’ll give you a huge advantage for that fight. Slap some healing meads in there for good measure too.

Take a sledgehammer.
One-shot the blob of minions that he throws out because they are all in a tight circle, then switch back to fists and go back to hitting him.

He really does not spawn them that often.

Raised Hand = Swipe. Roll into him.
Both Hands on Belly = Poison Vomit, either backroll twice or turn around and sprint for 2s.
Hand in Armpit = Adds spawn, turn around, run in direction he is face. One shot when they land with Iron Mace or Sledge.

He is a literal zero-damage fight.

if you have poison resist than the poison does barely any damage and it is a great time to hit him

The point here is not to deal great damage.
The point is to train a skill.
And dealing great damage is actually less training since skills level per-hit.

I will never recommend that horrible weapon to anyone ever unless they revert the nerf to it.
