Hi everybody,
New here, wanted to ask a question but not sure if this is the correct chatroom. If not, please direct me to the correct one. I´ve just created a server for me and my friends to play on so we dont have to have a dedicated host. We now want to transfer over the the world we have been playing on from my Xbox consol. We did what we thought would work. Download Xbox Game Pass for PC on my buddies computer. Problem is the following: Even tho I am logged into my xbox account his worlds appear in the game files. No character but his worlds. Is there another way or are we doomed?

Each of the Hildirs quests should be challenging with the gear from each dungeons biome 🙂 so black forest gear for Smouldering tomb

i think work areas are a sphere too, i once needed to build a workbench on the roof of my meadhall to finish it (and then forgot to remove the workbench to great amusement of my group xD)

but this was also before the mistlands update, so it may have changed since then

You can even be all the way up, next to the Yggdrasil, and still have it.

yeah - so before Ashlands some of the Misland weapons had the same issue. Then with Ashlands there was an extra black forge upgade that allowed the final mistland upgrade.

So my educated guess is Deep North release would include a new black forge item, allowing us to get to at least lvl 6 black forge. But its just a guess...

sadly I don't know the solution to this, if you don't remember where in the world you still have "living" undead trolls

restart the world if solo, I'm not sure if that despawns them, someone who has used the staff more than me should know that, its just a copper mining tool for me mostly and sometimes I drop them in fortress as cannon fodder 🙂

I think there is a limit of trolls per player and also per world, so if too many players have the staff and use it at the same time....

They’re very important for progression and you won’t be able to make the right food in future biomes without them, so search some swamps

They are yellow looking flowers found in swamps, similarly to carrots that are white looking flowers.

They can be elusive due to the darker environment.

When you enter the plains for the first time how do yall play it out? Me and my brother decided to attack one of the fuling camps and you get swarmed pretty damn quick. There was a 1* beserker that was taking ages to kill too.

Looking to get black metal gear next, it seems i'll need to kill lots of fulings first

When first entering the plains i recommend not taking a whole village head on, you can lure each fuling away one by one with a silent bow like the hunterbow
The other bows are loud and attract all most of them together

The other bows have simply double the radius of the huntsman bow 🙂 So it not really that big.

You shouldn’t be using troll armor anywhere past swamps

But the armor is way to weak for plains, i would just stick with the best armor you got and have enough distance to the village

There's a certain swamp armor, which while it's a bit of a pain to get is pretty decent for the plains and beyond

But it comes with the downside of fire weakness

• just keep your audio on so you can hear if sth tries to harm you or the wolf (raids f.ex.)

Well without elder down you would get "the forest is moving" that could hurt the wolf too (they have very low HP pool).
But I wouldn't overthink it too much - you can just build your walls around the wolf (and destroy the stairs) so nothing could get in and just keep the aggro on yourself IF the raid happens

And still you need to just stay around that area while the wolf is not aggro'ed

As all the mobs that were spawned at night will try to run away and de-spawn as the dawn breaks (wolfs included) - and you most likely watched a video that brings tips on how to get the 2-star wolf (those only appear at night)

And tame it too - and make them breed so you have extras just in case sth bad happens to this one (a lot of thighs can happen - he has only 80HP - that's one troll heavy overhead hit deals 70 xd)

surviving in the mountain at night is the first challenge, you can create a safe path out with campfires if you don't have frost res, then you just have to get it to the pit you made

Yeah I want even just another 0 star wolf so I can start breeding them and have at least a pair at my base

You can always swap them for the 2 star later (the baby has 50/50 chance of getting the parents stars, doesn't matter if it's 0+2, 0+1 or 1+2)

taking on trolls from a raid or similar will kill them off quickly whereas having the 2 stars gives you a decent chance of them killing them off before the wolves die, always good to keep a backup breeding pair safely away from any raids as well so you can at least make more if yr guards get killed

Yes! As soon as you get your 4 wolfs, take 2 far away and make a separate pen in an area that's not visited often - mark it on the map

That will take like 5 min to set up and can save you from another hourly quest of catching and taming new wolfs

"Stay" makes him stay in some small area around the spot you told him to - idk 10-20'ish meters

But a breeding tower is just disgustingly efficient, keep in mind that normal boar meat has less use in lategame foods

Have you found a ||new egg||? It should unlock the highest stamina food craftable in preparation table. Most other foods require new cauldron upgrade.

As Thorin said, if you need help in-game ask in servers and lfg, but here are some basic tips for eikthyr: For beginners ranged attacks are easy to manage as you dont have to know how to dodge roll. Using fire, or flint arrows is advised and a full set of leather armour can prove very useful. For food I usually used cooked dear and boar meats, paired with some honey.

Here is something that some people don't always think about when having connection issues, but if your friend's ISP has a mesh/CGNat, then no amount of port forwarding will work.

Idk if either you or your friend recently changed Internet plans or if your ISP updated yours, but this was an issue I had myself until I found a fix.

This typically occurs when ISP providers want to save on money, and they sometimes paywall static IPs behind the CGNat since it saves them $.

There's ways around it, but you would have to contact your ISP to see if they are putting your connection behind a cgnat or not

Just so I can save wasting time, I wanted to ask, if I started a character alone, is that separate to a character I might create that can play with others online? Or it crosses over?

Ultimately I want to play with people so I don't want to invest hours into something which I then find out I can't use for multiplayer.

Also if you die in this game, is that it like with DayZ? You have to begin a new character?

Your character is separate from the game world itself.

For example if you create character "A" and level it up, you can bring it into multiple different worlds and any items it has in its inventory comes with it. When that character dies, it drops all stuff it was carrying and depending on the settings of the world, will loose skill levels. It will also respawn at the start of the map or in your bed if you have one. Multiple different characters you create can enter the same world or different worlds, but they do not share progress.

If you want to avoid wasting time as you say leveling a character, I would recommend checking out a dedicated server listing in the LFG channel here on this discord server that interests you, as many of them require brand new characters.

I have only two characters, one for solo play for myself, and then one I use in a dedicated server for playing with other people. The online character I use I consider disposable because most likely if I stop playing on the online server I'll make a different character if I want to try another server. Different hosted servers have different rules.

There are two types, non dedicated servers (which are only online and joinable when the owner is actively hosting, and dedicated servers which are always online. Looking directly up at the world tree to get a reference of where your base is on the map is the easiest way to ensure you can always get back to your bases. By the way the tree will look drastically different as you get further on the map as it is in 3D. To sail in a straight line towards a boss for example, you can either just leave your mouse aiming in the right direction and never move it or have a building piece oriented in the right direction. You can actually see the building piece with your hammer even on a boat if you aim it at your character.

I personally tested that one time and noticed the huge difference between 0 skill lvl and much higher skill lvl so that is my conclusion. Also tested if quality of the staff affected to the damage of the vines, which didn't. Only the projectile damage and durability were increased.

Hello friends! Does anyone have any advice on a first landing in Ashlands as a solo player? My first attempt did not go well. I managed to get a portal down but it was destroyed on my first and only corpse run 😅

||try to do it during the day, at night is a literal nightmare.

try to maybe find a cave as a hiding place, stay in there for like 5min to de aggro anything - finding a dverger outpost is good too since the farming crops are usually in the ruins.

otherwise land a workbench/stonecutter/shield core down immediately and set up a black marble/grausten wall to defend yourself.

eventually the best place to take refuge are the fortresses that you need to take over since they are practically indestructible.

sneaking is your best friend, you can sneak with an arbalest to get the drop on anything and maybe one shot charred enemies.

magic is still pretty goated as the staff of fire still hits very hard with partial blunt damage and incredible range.

taming askvin is a good idea too since they are very tanky and you can make an army to fend off mobs

if you are fighting against morgen in groups, they apply friendly fire to enemies so you can bait them into killing the others

I try to run groups around ruins or the giant rocks that you find in the ashlands.||

It's useful because the queen moves around a lot, so you can use it as you approach and then equip a melee weapon. It also helps with the seekers she spawns. Bile bombs are great for the baby seekers

I'd use Draugr Fang rather than Spinesnap because it uses less stamina and has some extra poison damage so it's not that bad. Add some frost arrows and they deal ok damage.

It would take around little over 250 frost arrows against the Queen using only bows with higher bow skill.

Use the best bow and best arrows available, use the arbalest if you are able to craft that one, use magic - and fire staff in particular - if you have that unlocked. Can even use 1-2 ballistae to fight it, as long as you make sure you're not in their targeting area.

The Rancid Remains don't spawn in each burial chamber, so that reduces the chance to get it as well.
On top of that, the Rancid Remains also won't spawn on the bone piles, which makes it even more rare.

So percent wise, I think it's an one in a thousand chance to get it. Perhaps even less.

Start by collecting the copper and tin from the Black Forest.
Get carrot seeds, build a forge, craft a cultivator and plant those seeds to get another food source.

Try to find and tame boars and store them in a roofed shack (that's with some future event in mind). Make sure you give them some food once in a while.
Once you have enough boars, kill all but two of them so you get enough meat and leather scraps for future use.

Also, the item the Elder dropped gives a hint to which biome you're going to visit next.
And with that in mind, having maximum possible level troll armor, some bronze based weapons and the highest possible foods, as well as a certain mead, will be a good idea.
Not to mention, your first "real" boat and a portal.

Just one tip: when you are looking for that biome with a boat, don't dock in it, but look for a "friendly" biome and dock there, then walk into that biome.
It'll save you from getting stranded in an area as your boat may be destroyed there.

It's a wise idea to keep an eye on that while travelling.

In this game, preparation is the key.
There is some sort of being over prepared - like in having too much potions, food and arrows with you - but that isn't a big problem.

What is a problem is getting into a new biome when being under prepared. And moving into the 5th biome using gear from the 2nd biome is.

So return to your base, strengthen your defenses, grow food, breed food, upgrade all your crafting stations to their maximum level, do the same thing with your gear and only when all is at maximum enter the Swamp.

You will have a hard enough time over there early on, but once you get access to iron things will become a lot easier.

Your tombstone won't disappear, so there's no reason to worry about loosing things.

the game is balanced for solo, multiplayer is a possibility and can indeed be fun but not necessary, i saw a lot of catchy titles of yt videos like "Valheim solo is hell" but i respectfully disagree

as you entering the swamps you'll experience the first consistant "difficulty spikes", so you have to be prepared, generally if your take your time to carefully explore new biomes and crafting materials, upgrade everything as much as you can and stock the best food available fighting the boss will be totally doable

I agree. With Vanilla settings, Valheim feels more like a Diablo type game where you just mow creatures down with little effort. I haven't actually ever heard or seen anyone say anything different than that tho, but I'm sure there are those out there.

Is there a limit how many eggs can be laid in a space? And on that note a limit on chickens in a space? Well they stop breeding if a space has to many or eggs not hatch if to many chickens if I conveyed that right.

yup 10/10, more than 10 hens/chickens/egg (combined) in a 10 meters space and they'll stop laying eggs even if fed

no limit on hatching, you can drop 100 eggs from your inventory in a heated/covered area and they'll all hatch, the limit is applied only on hen's ability to lay

Either bronze or troll armor is good as they grant almost similar amount of armor, but troll armor has the benefit of no movement speed penalty.

Blunt and slash weapons are strong in swamps against different enemies, you will figure out the weaknesses and resistances of enemies there. Ranged option is also good to have.

It's important to start to brew meads before entering, especially ||poison resistance||.

Troll or bronze armor, I prefer troll for no movement and sneak bonus.
A mace can work wonders in the swamp against most mobs, the abyssal razor is also nice to have in the swamps ||against abomination you want fire or slashing damage.||
A buckler is also good.
A bow as backup or main can certainly make the swamp easier, fire arrows can be doused easily though by the mobs going into water but they do extra damage to ||abominations||.
Poison mead also helps.
Best food you can make, you have carrots right?
Make sure you are rested, the wet debuff won't be as obnoxious then.

A few tips for surviving in the swamp, but there are some spoilers:
||There are indestructible logs, those can be used to screw up the pathing of mobs, get on one and plink with bow, when they get close jump to the other side and they will have to run around again, keep kiting like that. Works especially well against abominations||
||Same thing can be done with crypts, get on the crypt from the entrance jump on the torch jump on the roof.||
||Also the first chamber of a crypt is mostly safe, so going in a crypt to get away from mobs is good and you can also build a campfire there to get the rested bonus back.||
||The night can be dangerous with wraiths but can also be profitable so thread with caution.||

• I wouldn't spend too much bronze on armour (unless you have a lot of it lying around) - bronze helmet with troll vest and trousers should be enough. - switch the vest for the lightweight swamp cheat piece when you get the resources.
• for weapons: 1. Atgier is going to decimate everything except for the abominations and blobs 2. Keep the stagbreaker on you for blobs - it has enough knocback to keep them away and kill them safely 3. For abominations - a weapon of your choice that deals some "slash" combined with lvl3 bronze buckler will do

also you can put down bonfires to deal with aboms, if u want. just make sure to kite around it and keep repairing it

Ashlands is more combat focused than previous biomes so it has more enemy variety and spawn rates, but your equipment should be strong enough. What are you using?

Don't run around and don't charge into enemies.
Pull them one by one and move only when the coast is clear. At night you should avoid travelling in general since the 2* will kick you in the balls at start.

And by making them admin do you mean give them rights to kick/ban people and help manage server or do you want to give them access to devcommands?
The first thing should be possible by inserting their SteamID into the admin list, but the second thing is not unfortunately.

• stagbreaker/mace-club (with the MMB secondary attack for the blobs)
