Don't parry them, there's too many so you'll run out of stamina too fast. That's how I had my only death in mountains.

Odd how Valheim was fun for 700 hours but I "Play? More like arrive at..." Ashlands for 4 hours and it's simply unplayable. The balance between combat and exploration is what I liked about Valheim but that concept has been abandoned in Ashlands it seems. It's constant fighting. It's not that the enemies are difficult to kill... They just never stop spawning... I've made 4 of those stupid boats... I've tried 2 different shores... I've destroyed the glowing red Stone tablets (spawners?)... Whatever I do I don't catch a break. Whatever I place get destroyed and when I placed down the base shield I didn't even get time to figure out how it works... So I just have to ask what you self-proclaimed hardcores do? Am I doing something wrong? I've tried using magic, I've tried going in melee... I got the best food, I got potions... What is the requirement to succeed in Ashlands? Watching a Youtuber explaining to me how everything works since I don't get a chance to do so myself? I've played the entire game solo, including Mistlands. For Ashlands I wanted to play with a friend but we just bite the curb... Is the game significantly easier as a solo player?

The issue isn't projectiles, they're easy enough to dodge... It's the amount of mobs I have to keep fighting and they never stop spawning. That's what I'm having a problem with.

Landing in Ashlands: drop a portal on a spire out a bit in the water away from shore first, then line your ship up between it and the shore. Try to find a place with a big rock on the shore too because those are more defensible. Then dig a moat or raise terrain around it, or do the grausten walls with spikes. Very similar to other biomes for defenses, it's just harder to get them in place because of the constant barrage of enemies

Caution and planning are the key. But definitely don't rely on rock spires on shore as safe places forever because Morgen are jerks and will eventually destroy them unless you get defenses in place of some kind

Make sure they have food to munch on and be close enough to see them but not close enough to alarm them. If you are doing it right, I believe the hearts are yellow/gold while taming. If it is pink hearts, they are mating after being tamed I think.

does anyone know why my character isn't showing up in the character selection screen? I was playing on the public-test branch with them for a while. Just switched to the regular default branch now and my character doesn't appear even though I can see them in the cloud. Any ideas?

After today's update, the character I have been playing since the Ashlands release is unloadable. The character is listed in the manage saves view, but when I scroll through my characters when trying to start a game they don't show up at all. Has anyone else seen this?

OK, maybe not an update today... Steam is always giving me little tiny updates. Today was a 60.3 KB update. I haven't played Vahleim in a week or two, so the June 18th update is the last major update since I last played.

So somewhere between that May 28th update and today, something changed and now my saved character isn't available when starting a game. Do you have anyu suggestiosn on how to fix that?

Generally speaking, every mob need to take a certain amount of damage in a short time frame to stagger. Most secondary weapon attacks have built-in stagger multipliers - swords, maces, and atgeirs just to name a few.

hy, how avoid portal bugs ? i had portal 001 in base and 001 in mountains and 001 in base stopped working so i went to see 001 in mountains and it was working, so i went trough and ported to my base, but i ported on top of my walls about 20 meters away from any portal, portal 001 in base did still not work so i had to go back to 001 in mountains and rebuild that one to fix the bug..

Are your foods up to date ?

At this stage of progress you should have access to ||the Cauldron|| which gives access to ||better foods|| as well as ||potions, such as poison resistance||

Also, don't forget about carrying a shield for blocking/parrying hits, it helps massively

Make sure to explore black forest and swamps thoroughly to find ||Carrot seeds|| and ||Turnip seeds|| respectively, which unlocks ||new food recipes|| and ||an upgrade for the Cauldron||

compared to that root armor gives you 50% reduction in poison and piercing damage

I can see fenris armor being relevant when trying to run away from wolves

Thankfully poison damage is pretty nonexistent outside of swamps, and most pierce damage in the game can be easily avoided

Meanwhile the full Fenris set gives a fire resistance which is very handy in all biomes going forward

Magic is definitely stronger than melee in the Mistlands, but in the Ashlands, it all evens out a bit. Both play styles are very much viable though.

When I conquered the ashlands, I played melee and I had a friend playing mage offering support basically.

Some seeds have more than others but I don't think there are seeds that have none around the starting area somewhere.
A quick cautious trip into the black forest could also solve that but you need to be stealthy and quick.

it is indeed 5 minutes for surtling respawn, so if you have a few spawners make a portal loop and if you find enough you can keep on going with getting coal and cores.

Surtling spawners are found in the swamp, each 5 minutes they replace the killed surtlings up to a maximum of 3, if you dig all around the spawner the surtlings appear in water and will die very fast, so you then put a portal close but further away than 20m so you don't suppress the spawning of the surtlings.
You place another portal near that.
So you go into the first portal and get to the first surtlign spawner, the 2nd portal takes you to the 2nd surtling spawner and so on till you have visited all the surtling spawners and looted all the coal and cores and the last portal in the chain brings you back to base.

Ok, so I'm trying to find a 2 star wolf in my solo server and I haven't seen one ever. I've tried going further away from spawn on a small mountain, even trapped the local stone golem so he isn't killing anything and still no luck. Most lost buildings were in or near the poles (DN/ashlands) general area. Anything within the inner ring of mistlands should be largely undamaged from what I have heard.

Sniping with a bow, crossbow or magic helps with destroying spawners. With the ones in rocks, you might have to fight off the horde then throw down campfires and finally mine it out with a pickaxe before damaging it.

Playing on a friend's server, no mods installed, and I'm seeing a lot of damage to building pieces that shouldn't have any. Wood pieces under roof, stone blocks, iron poles also under roofs and under stone blocks. The pieces are far below the 1/2 damage that rain would cause.

Her only weakness is Fire, but Fire Arrows absolutely suck against her given they are 4 biomes behind the curve.

Bonemass and Yagluth are unique in their "having a weakness" afaik, will double-check.

Wood Club (upgrade) -> Iron Mace (upgrade) -> Blackmetal Weapon of Choice

I do not build any of the melee weapons from Black Forest or Mountains. Once you hit Plains you, weaknesses sort of even out and you can use whatever weapon without "penalty" for your choice.

They're one of the few raids that do present any real danger, and only to your base.

And it's also the easiest raid to kite. Only two trolls at any given time so just run around until timer runs out

I have something like this. Just slightly higher ground with fortifications and it works. As I said, the only real danger is trolls, which you can kite away from the base. Earth walls and moats are overrated

Raids with singular enemies struggle with their pathfinding, they're too dumb and simple for any real danger. I even put stairs in that small river for them to reach me so I can fight them more easily... and they won't climb them.

Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me I play on Xbox and so when I try to load up the game on my account it goes straight black screen and doesn't load at all but when other account that is on the same system get on valheim it loads perfectly fine and it happend the other night I was playing perfectly fine for 2hrs and then my game crashed and now I can't get back on I've already tried deleting it re installing it and restarting the system I don't what else to do

Whilst raised terrain and ditches don’t look particularly nice, in-game, they are an historically accurate form of fort defence that was used throughout Europe. So are at least thematically appropriate.

And there are ways to pretty them up, if you want to, and don’t mind having to do repairs.

so i planted 58 carrots and 9 are unhealthy despite thm all looking pretty much the same distance apart. Without mods, how do you remedy this? once a plant is in the ground but is unhealthy can you retrieve the seed?

I need help something dire here fellas. Was travelling into ashlands on the big boat, a sea serpent spawned inside it and glitched us both to sea floor. When I got out of boat I fell under map and started falling infinitely. Debug flying does nothing and teleports (y coords included) move me there but I instantly fall under the map again. How does one escape this?

I'm locked out of my game. I can't access my world or my friend's dedicated server. The option to select start isn't there. The grey square for start is there but no way for me to select it. I have closed out the game, checked for updates, and power cycled my Xbox. Any tips?

we just wnated to build a castle like base but didnt really feel right to just build it next to our current one in the meadows and never tried living in the plains before so thought about living there

You get 3 seeds per seed carrot, iirc. So don’t stress over unhealthy ones.

It's not much different from other biomes excluding that almost everything grows there, it's mostly obstacles-free and needs little terraforming.

Same as to whether is annoying or not, even meadows becomes more dangerous as game progresses because more dangerous enemies start spawning there

Which is why I limit it to what I said: Do what you want.

There's no big advantages/disadvantages over other biomes in terms of functionalities and if what you care them is just building for aesthetic purposes then just go
