does anyone has problem running map after update? i have some mods and now i spawned in my world floating with horse equiped ( dont know why), it says equiping sword all the time, cannot move or do nothing, in eq i have nothing i had. all i can see is some error with harmony that i dont know what it is and what it do

The mods are developed independently from the game itself, so you may need to wait for each individual mod to be updated before adding them back. Check with the mod developers.

Not sure what to do midfight, but I recommend setting up a bunch of campfires as spawn protection before the fight, or finding a golem before the fight nearby and digging a hole to put it in. It'll be harmless in the hole, and no more golems can spawn in the area while that one is still alive

Golems are very weak to pickaxes, but pickaxes are pretty bad weapons to begin with so you're much better off with a mace

One thing you can do with a pickaxe though is hop on the golems head, and start hitting it from up there. It can't hit you unless it does its 2-handed ground slam I believe. And if it does that slam, just jump as it does it

My whole game got wiped out. I started Valheim today to play a bit, and I updated it perusual on Steam with the Ashlands full release, and I load in. And my entire base is gone, every item in chests and everything, I went to the trader, and he was gone, I went to Hildir and she was gone. Is there a way I can fix it?

Make a cart outside the Dvergr base and smash the ward with the cart until it breaks. Afterwards, take the cart and smash all of the carts containing that precious soft tissue, and most importantly, the dverger component crate. It may take some effort to take the cart up a spiral staircase.

Oh, you need the base? Just smash the ward with a cart. Or... lure a Gjall or a few seeker soldiers to wreak havoc.

Hmm. Should be perfectly fine then. The game files are stored in %APPDATA%, which isn't in your Documents folder like what some games do. Let it close, and go find the player.log file in the appdata folder and see if it has any messages about what's going on. You don't have any mods installed, do you? Or have you ever?

hey again, little confused again, i killed the first boss and put the trophy by the other standing stones, it said to press e to activate the upgrade which said it was 60% more stamina/ run/jumping, after activating i see no change at all, i seem to be running out of stamina exactly the same time as before, the stamina bar has not got bigger, further more i see an icon appear in the left bottom corner "eikthyr" with the text "ready" ... i dont have any clue what all this means, can anyone help, the lack of stamina to even thee most simplest thing is really becoming a bit of a pain now

The power uses a lot less stamina when running and jumping. You should be able to run and jump for a much longer time before running out of stamina while it's active, vs normal.

If it says "ready", you need to press F to activate it before it takes effect

You probably need to remove any mod managers, and if a world was saved with modded info it might not upgrade cleanly.

Yeah, I believe a restart fixes it. Exploremap doesn't actually generate all the landforms. But try it on a test world and character first, I don't guarantee that I'm correct 😉

If successful yes (if the enemy does a lot of damage, your parry can fail because your characater isn't strong enough)

There's very few enemies in the game that can't be staggered though (drakes, bosses, blobs, a few others)

yeah I thought so, my friend just kept convincing my I messed up my timings when fighting one star seekers because the enemy didn't get staggered when I told him I parried

I'll link a sheet for it in a sec. But basically, more block armor (on a parry that's block armor of shield * parry bonus) and more max hp helps to parry. So eating health foods helps a TON with parrying tough enemies

There's many sources of iron some renewable, but crypts are really the best one (despite not being renewable). Lategame once you get to Mistlands, there's a decent source of iron there (also non renewable).

They're working on it. Worlds are generated differently this update due to how Ashlands and Deep North must be sailed, so the maps are different.

Making multiple layers on the wall is about the only way, or possibly a gap filler like a wood beam or something if it's just at the seams. Just a feature of how the walls are modeled.

Some issues need to be sorted, devs don't know how fast it will go, so no ETA on it yet. You can use the Xbox insider version of the game to circumvent this as its the same as the PC live version and is also compatible with crossplay on PC etc, same version.

I believe you can, as I have accidentally (pre ashlands) removed a sealed tower icon before. But I haven't tried with a proper boss. I know for sure you can temporarily remove them.

If you are in PC, use f2 and look at your instance count on when it runs fine and when your frames drop. If there happens to be a huge jump, that's the reason. Earlier, someone posted a YT link about framerate. I don't remember if it was this chat or another( like general).

From what I have read here, the first person to "view" a chunk will become the host of that chunk. There is a chance that the person who "viewed" the area you are lagging in had a lower end machine. It could also be the increase of instances is juuust above what your machine can handle. There are other possibilities, but that is what little I know of. Hi! I was hoping someone would know a fix to my issue: I run a dedicated server through GTX for some friends with about 15ish mods. We've played all the way through to previous Ashlands, where we made a base and portal in the black forest outside of the designated Ashlands Biome. We made sure not to enter it. However, when we logged in this evening to play and check it out, the base was falling apart, and said black forest is a mess. Some of it is in the middle of the sky, some is under the ocean. What can we do to set things right? The generation is all screwed up.

Depth of lava doesn't really exist. It's just surface lava everywhere it can't be too deep

Yup. See that instances count? That's how many things the game is processing each time it renders a frame, basically. If you have your lighting settings turned up, or just low memory bandwidth, it can do that.

lol. Yeah... turn the active point lights and point light shadows down a touch. That will kill any system if you have lots of fires or torches. Make sure you have XMP enabled on your system as well.

Try starting with Vulkan, too. That can have a large impact.

Last question. This world is my first world, I have been playing with it since release, when building walls with terrains was a lot easier. I remember reading somewhere that modifying like A LOT the terrain, could affect performance. Should I start a new seed as this one has been alive for about 4 years?

You can use the optterrain command in places where you get slow performance from terrain modification that was done a long time ago, and that should help a fair bit. But with the latest terrain modification strategy there should be basically no slowdown from doing it.

All that said... it will almost never be a bad idea to start a new world just to make sure everything is new and compatible. Everything should roll forward, but it's a difficult problem especially when you've got 4 years of changes.

Yeah... I think that's intended. Your stuff stays with you on those settings, it's an empty gravestone so it will destroy itself.

Depending on how your server host or the mods you use set things up, those keys can be separately set in the world. If it happens fully unmodded without any setkey stuff, then it would qualify as a bug, but I've never heard of someone experiencing it like you have.

How long is indefinitely? How long have you waited? It can take a while to load a world on the first build, or when updating an existing one to the Ashlands patch. And by a while, I mean 3-4 minutes, depending on how fast your machine is.

They need at least 3 to tame, I think. But you can put a stack down and they only eat one at a time.

Just make sure they aren't aware of your presence, otherwise the taming process pauses when they've got the ❗

Hole or stone walls for wolves, stakewall fence is fine for boars generally. As long as you can be nearby and they can't see or hear you, that's all you need.

Yeah, I let them chase me, and usually jump out or up a ladder. If it's a hole, you can equip just a shield and parry them, then middle-click kick them into the hole. It's pretty effective for wolves, and doesn't damage them much.

Looks legit. I get much better performance with a 5900x and a 6600XT, so there's likely something missing. Make sure you update the BIOS with it being a new build, make sure the CPU isn't being heat throttled, make sure your GPU has all power connectors and it's fully seated. You might also consider making sure XMP is enabled.

Turn off vsync and the framerate limit just for shits and giggles, too. At least until the performance is correct.

Make sure there are no driver-specific settings for Valheim either, maybe do a factory reset or whatnot from the Nvidia control panel (I don't use nvidia, I don't know the details)

The other thing to do is to try a benchmark on your machine and compare that against other computers with similar specs to make sure the base performance is correct and narrow it down to being Valheim or the PC configuration in general.

Again... it's hard to tell if the problem is drivers/configuration or the game behavior without having something like a benchmark to be able to make sure it's legit. 3DMark basic should be free and will let you see if you're hitting the baseline for your machine specs.

My suspicion is that there's some kind of driver profile or settings being automatically applied to the game. I know I had issues with Helldivers II and my card because the default settings were causing some conflicts.

The one thing that I have noiticed is that when you build several objects at the edge of the render limit, this is when most of the frame drops happen due to the game trying to load half a building in and out every time you walk in a small circle

Why would you install an MSI bios on a non-MSI card, though? Just make sure that the latest BIOS for the hardware is installed. It should be pretty straightforward, I know my Gigabyte motherboard is very easy.

at this point id say its safe to asssume that anything over 8500 instances are going to result in low framerates. ive been troubleshooting this issue across 5 computers, 3 worlds since the game came out

That window is almost always because of a mod that's having an error. You can remove all the mods following the pinned posts here, or go ask in #mods-issues

Bluescreen is still pretty much always a hardware issue. Could be dying memory, or bad drivers, or even overheating of other components, maybe low power to the GPU or CPU. Do other games play ok? Is it a laptop or desktop? Have you updated or changed anything with it recently, or have you tried fully reinstalling your graphics drivers?

The thing with Valheim is it's more CPU and memory intensive than most games, so you could possibly be running into issues that other games just don't trigger. Do you have any overclocking or anything enabled?

You may have noticed, my spec list says 32gb RAM. this ram is corsair 3600. turns out when i upgraded to 64gb a couple months ago, the RAM speed set itself to debault, and it was running at 2300 LMAO

It seems to be disabled sometimes shortly after you hit an ally or you're close to them or something. Try walking away and keep looking at the button, it should be clickable then. When swords are crossed you can hurt your piggies

Valheim could have been installed on a bad secor of the harddrive, accessing that sector could be crashing it

sometimes drives need logical repairs, that's fine and fixed 100%. But if it's bad blocks, it'll mark them and not use them so that's nice and all but once you get bad blocks, you want to replace the drive... almost guaranteed to get worse.

I think it might be a matter of expectations? Every time you braek a copper node there's a chance for it to drop copper. Some pieces don't drop any copper.

Deer meat gives more health than boar. There's 3x kinda food, Health, Steamina, and balanced between them.

I run with 1 health and 2x steamina/balanced (usually both stamina, depends on whats available)

Reasonably useful since the buff that allows you to ride on lava. Lets you skip huge detours and if you tame starred ones a pretty useful meatshield too (especially if you bubble it).

also since they hatch from eggs it's incredibly easy to have mounts at basically every outpost.

Ok... so you are in the world, or waiting for it to load into the world? If it's when you're waiting to load into the world the very first time, just keep waiting. It says it's stopped responding, but it's still thinking and just isn't showing you. Wait for 3-4 minutes and it should load you in.

Ok. Check in your player.log file when it does it, that should hopefully tell you some information about why it stopped. What kind of machine are you running on? all updated drivers?

You can spawn in pretty much anything with the right commands. I think the Magmafish may also have flametal fragments rarely.

Yeah. Just don't touch anything, it can take 3-4 minutes on first startup of a new world as it's creating all the data. The problem is it's a single-threaded process and that means all feedback is locked behind the world generation, and so it just looks like it's crashed. It hasn't.
