Then you need to adjust your setup if you're having issues. The not enough space issue is because you're trying to place it too close to another upgrade. And if they need to be close then place them first then work in the other upgrades. You can place them vertically as well if you don't have much horizontal space on the ground to work with.

Remove all other upgrades, place the adze and bellows first, then rebuild the other upgrades. You'll have much better luck doing it that way.

No, he's literally telling you how to solve it. Wait longer, it will appear that it's not responding but that's because it's a single-threaded process that blocks UI feedback when generating the world.

Upgrading worlds from a previous version also takes time. Seriously... just let it sit.

Once you select and start a world, don't click or touch anything for up to 5 minutes. See if that works.

Yes, Plains is after you kill Moder in the mountain.

But that is not the last biome or the last boss currently.

The Plains vegvisir can be hard to find, it should be in the stone towers, but the altar is so large it's normally found first. It looks like very large fingers rising out of the ground.

Fencing them into individual cells can keep them apart, or just pushing them manually. But it doesn't really hurt anything if you're just waiting for them to grow.

Turning off the UI uses 2 of the same keys as opening the command window, try hitting lb and pause that should turn that back on. (I'm assuming this cause you said the button isn't working, and the pause menu won't pop up if the UI is off.)

I have my controller layout set to the 2nd layout so it's different than yours, but iirc it should be either both triggers or both bumpers + menu. Sometimes it's hard to get it to activate cause you have to hit them simultaneously.

that happened to me once. there has to be a direct line of sight from one to the other.

when you are using a crafting station, it will draw golden lines between it and all its active addons. That helps you see whether something is blocked.

try deconstructing and rebuilding the upgrades again putting them closer to the cauldron and it should work

You mean just starting up a new world? Are you getting past character selection and into loading a world and then it says that it stops responding? If that's the case, the solution is to just wait without touching the mouse or anything. Give it 3-5 minutes to load up everything on a new world or on any new patch that is adding new content.

Hey everyone, I'm setting up a private server for my friends and I to play together on xbox via Nitrado (I've used them before and haven't really had any issues).

So far I have been able to successfully setup a non dedicated session that has the Ashlands content on xbox and play it with my friends. I have also successfully got a dedicated server running that several friends played on using pc and / or Xbox.

I'm curious if anyone has had any success getting the Ashlands expansion working on a nitrado server? I'm thinking the only way this is possible is to setup a local server via pc with the Ashlands public beta version, then copying the world over via ftp. I'm wondering if this public beta that's available on pc differs from the Xbox insider hub public test in a way that would prevent Xbox clients from accessing said server.

Any tips / help welcome! I'm learning as I go.

The pings being enabled for groups that enjoy PvP playthroughs completely detract from healthy base building, world boss fighting and many open world engagements. Especially when the group all logs on at the same time of day.

First person online sees the location of everyone elses last logout. Usually their base.
Couple that knowledge with how easy it is to ransack bases since the wards and buildings are easily broken with early weapon items.

Takes a lot of the fun out of PvP modes.

All public test comments need to go in the public test channel as noted in the pinned posts. That said, your issue is easily solved by just waiting. The game is not crashing, it is just not responding while it is updating the world. It can take 3 to 5 minutes or even longer depending on how fast your PC is. When starting a world, just keep your hands off the keyboard and mouse, and wait.

Yes. As people move throughout the world they "own" the chunk they're in if they the first there. All ownership basically means is that their computer is responsible for changes and enemy spawns and behavior in the area.

You can add them to the admin list for the server, but that gives them kicking and banning permissions. It doesn't allow them to run Dev commands or anything like that of course.

Support is determined by the number of connectiosn away from the ground, so that spot is likely just a bit too far. A support pillar in the middle-ish would fix that, maybe by the base of your stairs there so it doesn't get in the way.

Nice! There are a few good Youtube tutorials, but for future reference stability is determined by material type and connections away from ground (blue) anchored pieces. It loses roughly twice as much stability horizontally as it does vertically. So there isn't any truss math or anything (but angled pieces can sometimes make the support a "shorter" journey)

Not really a great way to do that, unfortunately. Angles and curves don't work mathematically with the fixed wall sizes like that. You might be able to use some 1m wood poles on the edges to figure that out, or use shift and don't use any snap points and just place it manually.

Ok, i can now for certain say that in either of the 3 controller set up options "console" "console 2" and "classic" it is the same. LT + LB + menu, and you can press and hold lt+lb then press menu. It doesn't have to be a quick tap like it used to be. Hopefully this helps you. 🙏

You'll have to use a character that has not been used on PTB for that, and roll back your game version before you connect to the server. Then to play PTB again use a PTB only character or a PTB char backup from before you rolled back and change game to PTB beta version again

It looks like it was likely spawned in the burial chamber ahead of you there, but somehow fell through the world. Dungeons are placed thousands of meters directly above their entrances is how the game engine works. That happens sometimes with Tetra in frost caves and such, but it looks like it can happen to Ghosts as well.

Seriously though, lox are great at climbing over each other and escaping. Tall enough steep earth walls are about as good as it gets, but it's worth having a herd of them far enough away from your base that they can't damage it because they're much tougher than wolves for most raids.

It's better to wall them out than to try to wall them in 😉

Let the game run when it's loading, don't alt tab or click around too much. To upgrade a world to any new version with world changes, the game needs to run some heavy processes that makes Windows think it's stopped responding. You just gotta wait it out, it'll be a couple minutes at most and it should only happen once.

Hey, did not really expect this to happen, but I was comparing shield strengths in a cave between my silver and banded shield, and so i swapped them by throwing the silver shield, and now cuz of the awkward angle it is stuck in this like rock formation thing in the cave
Should I make a new shield or is there a way I can somehow clip in to get it without the use of commands?

I would say logout from world and re-login, so that the auto-pickup function works on the shield, and that should do it, otherwise, no idea what I would do

You try and build something that clips into the stone and maybe forces the shield out, it could push the shield in deeper though.
Maybe you can build so that you can clip through the rock with the camera and angle it so that you can pick it up

Hello all, I have been playing a while on a few servers and haven't had an Eikthyr raid (Eikthyr rallies the creatures of the forest) yet in any of them. I remember getting Eikthyr raids a lot when the game first came out, but haven't had one in any of my 2023/24 playthroughs. I'm currently literally sitting at my base on a log bench for a few in game days while my boars tame, and still not getting raids (I haven't turned off raids in the settings btw 😅 ) I'm wondering if it is something to do with workbench level being too high or taming boars early in playthrough that is preventing the raids? Does anyone know?

Raids are based on game progression; they switch on and off depending on which bosses you've killed. I'd check the Wiki for your particular progression and see what to expect.

thanks yes I have just checked again and the army_eikthyr event should be enabled by 'start of the world' and disabled by beating Eikthyr, and can take place in the meadows or black forest. I haven't killed Eikthyr yet and am currently in the meadows at my base. I have also turned raids up to 'more raids' and still not getting any.

Anyone here an expert on how server progression works? Specifically, I want to know if server progression and things such as raid difficulty and type are tied directly to Bosses being killed for the first time on that server specifically or if the progression server wide gets bumped up if you are joined by a player who has already killed certain bosses that haven’t been killed on your server.

I ask because this situation has recently occurred and I’ve heard claims that using gear that can only be acquired post-mistlands for example, will bump their server progression to as if most lands boss has been killed.

It depends on how you have it configured. Bosses are noted as killed at the server level, but if you change it to "player based raids" in the settings it will depend on player progression as to what raids and such are possible.

That's unfortunately what happens with a networking problem. You might check your player.log file to see if there is anything specific, but it's generally due to some kind of stability or dropping of traffic issues. If you can, plug your gaming machine into ethernet instead of using wifi, and make sure there are no firewalls or traffic shaping affecting you

Hello all. Having a bit trouble clearing the swamp solo, specifically crypts when draugr archers or drauger elite spawn. I've cleared it before on other playthroughs, a few years ago, so no worries about spoilers. I'm currently running lvl 3 bronze armour, lvl 3 bronze sword, lvl 3 wooden parry shield, lvl 2 bone tower shield, lvl 4 finewood bow, and then potions and and deer meat stew, minced meat stew, and carrot soup for food.

I don't remember it being so tough, so any advice or tweaks would be appreciated!

Starred archers (even 0star archers at first) and elites are certainly a pain, but I would look for turnip seeds (yellow flowers you'll find in the swamps) for better food options first, and then use whatever iron i've got already to make a piece or 2 of iron armor.

Game after a while will start stuttering. And I would Have to tab in and out of the game to fix it for an other 20 min or so (or changing any in game performance setting also stops the stutter)

This happens to me aswell, I usauly open task manager and set valheim priority to high, and after waiting for a moment it usauly loads. Hope this helps!

by default they are in C:\Users\YOUR-USER\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim
you will find two character folders, one called "characters" for characters stored in the cloud, and the other "characters_local" for characters stored locally. The same applies for world. Just make a copy of the entire valheim folder, or you can backup each character & world individually

depends on which one of them got pregnant, only one of them will become pregnant per breeding process, If the 2 star one gets pregnant then the wolf calf will be 2 star guarentted.

You can stand beside them and observe carefully to verify the above statement. It is visually possible to see which one gave birth to the offspring.

It’ll be a 50-50 chance. But the second one will guarantee to be a 2 star, if the first isn’t, and then every other will be 2 star. Just be mindful that the maximum number of wolves in a 10 m radius is 5. So if a normal pup comes out you can push it out and feed it to the wild and wait for the 2 star to roll in.

how does the AI of raids work (e.g. swamp raid)? If I have tamed boars and they're fully enclosed in a barn (roof, no windows) are raiders going to hear the boars and try to get in, or do they just see structures to attack that I could distract them from?
I just lost all my boars from a raid 😦 they were enclosed in a pole fence with spikes facing outward but wasn't enough. Want to try something better next time

Vegetation set to the lowest option, and I still see grass, I remember it would completely wipe everything out but flat ground?

Use a hoe to flatten the area under the house only, if you need/want to add a bit of grass where you might have hit it with the hoe on accident, you can use a cultivator to put grass back.

Yeah except that didnt work. as it would always either leave a small bit of dirt on the outside, or a small bit of gras on the inside. even if I moved up 1 mm with the mouse 😄

Hey I have an issue that just cropped up with Valheim. I play between a laptop and a desktop. I logged into the PTR using the Beta option and decided i did not want to play after all, wanted to wait. So i turned it off. Now my latest saves are corrupted and say "BAD VERSION". I then decided hey i should start a new save playthrough anyway in preparation for the full release of ASHLANDS and so started a new game on my desktop. Played for two days fine. Then last night i played on my laptop while watching TV, this morning i log in to my desktop and the new playthrough ALSO says "Bad Version"... how do i fix a world that has suddenly decided to be a bad version?

i lost 1) my world where i played through and killed the queen in preparation for the Ashlands update.... and 2) my new playthrough i just started. Oh and on my laptop, all the worlds are fine. So its a problem with my desktop version of Valheim. I uninstalled it and re-installed, but the cloud save that came down back to the desktop still has the issue.

Ok, I'll step back... I'm not sure, then, that it's not a dedicated server. But, if a server requires one user to be connected, it'll never be 24/7. I pay for my server to be hosted for everyone playing.
A 'dedicated server tool' sounds like it should maintain a server constantly, but I've never encountered that without having to pay something for subscription.

Yeh, I use Aussie Server Hosts.
Ok, I've had a quick look at the dedicated server tool, and (understandably) it still seems to require a computer to be constantly running the server. I can't imagine how anyone could maintain a server constantly if there weren't a machine that was active all the time.

Yeh, the thing is, you gotta make sure you don't put the ring right at the edge of the wall pull it about a meter from the wall and it shouldn't overlap as much cause the affects spread a little outside the rings that are shown when using the tools. But oh well lol if you found an easy fix for you that works too

What is the best way to get silver down from a mountain? Carrying one stack at a time to where my staging area is for my ship is extremely tedious, but my seed doesn't seem to have any mountains that are easily traversable.

Carts can't deal with inclines when you put in more than two stacks. That's my problem with them. And there are inclines everywhere. I've gotten lucky one time on one mountain where a silver deposit was right next to the descent, but the rest... no.

Most people if they use a cart to get silver down the mountain just let it go by itself

Just load up the cart and send it down the hill. Then collect the mats, and do it again as many times as required.

It's certainly tedious, but other than walking it down.. or building a longship and sending it down, the carts usually the best method.

Your alternative is to just throw the silver from your inventory and let it roll down the mountain. Then go collect it and do it again, as required.

i made a fang spear in the mountain when i just started playing got it to level 4 tryed to throw it a stone golem missed and it went to another island lol\

Anyways though, short of those options, you could spend a long time making a nice path to easily walk the cart down the side of the mountain as well. It's just a lot more work than sending it.
