reason #126 why everyone should try no map/portal. the tale of the banded shield upgrade. so i was
out of iron and finewood and couldnt upgrade my shield, but figured oh well good enough. set off to find the bonemass continent i was briefly at to mine more iron but got caught in a storm, accidentally found a nearby swamp continent with bog witch, submerged surtling spawners, and thought if only i brought finewood i could upgrade my-a shipwreck! now i have just the right things to build a little swamp base, smelt new iron i mine, and upgrade my shield! and even spend the treasures i find in the process at the witch! what a fun adventure!

Well I got my first one by doing a smash and grab while the dvergr were out fighting a mob. But from that point on, I was considered persona non grata at that outpost. Then I got one using the cart to smash ward method and they just glared angrily at me as I looted their stuff. I also managed to come upon a smaller dvergr outpost that appeared abandoned, or maybe they had just died. So that was technically the easiest to obtain, but not a reliable method.

I think Mistlands is beautiful and amazing. Sure it sucks trying to get up those cliffs but the top is always worth it. It's so lovely and astonishing. I play it without any great deal of magic and I still love it. Feather cape is so much fun. The mist doesn't bother me much at all for whatever reason, I like the adventure of not knowing what is gonna beneath me or to the right so I can be awed by it when I get there

I typically have a taming pen near the outside of my walls, get tames to chase me into it, and trap them inside. I'll drop their food in and stealth outside of the pen while watching something.

Just be sure the taming pen is fairly well sized, or they may have a hard time pathing to the food.
