Well, characters can be used in multiple worlds, and while I can’t explicitly say skill levels stick (but I think they do) I know that items can be gathered in one world and brought to another.

The Troll is laughably easy as a new player. I've been hit maybe once by them, but killed 6.

But even that is easy with a bow because you get fire arrows so early on.

Frostner is good for seekers which are the most common enemy but for anything else black metal weapons are better

froster's frost damage can help to slow enemies if you want to though

a lot of building functionality depends on a ray casting system where a certain percentage of the rays cast by the center of the object in all directions has to either hit or not hit a solid object

this can be pretty confusing to approximate in normal gameplay because there aren't that many rays, so two things that look like they have the same amount of coverage can have completely different levels because one of them just happens to dodge more objects with its rays

this is about the amount of rays objects cast

and a beehive needs less than 60% of its rays to hit an object for it to work (these rays are about 30 meters long btw)

So it's usually mechanically less tiring. Ashlands have been fun. I can say that haha I haven't died that much to enemies, but I had stupid deaths in water and lava. 😅😅
And the progress feels much slower overall.

After we got lucky enough to reclaim his body, we scrambled to our boat and finally made a ridiculously narrow boat escape from 2 Gjall and an elite seeker (when we were not geared at all for mistlands…) and when we sailed away, as I was steering, at 10% durability we came over a big swell, and smashed into his abandoned raft that was screened by the sail of our ship…. Right as he was saying “oh wait I think I died on a raft near here”.
