love it, parry ~ uppercut all day
btw i wonder is the final boss gonna be the winter child
gonna be ||Ulf||
I would think it will get more lore stones (at least i hope it will :D), but for a boss... I dont know, so far the bosses were all big, intimidating creatures, little child doesetn really fit imo
damn
dyrnwyn should be pretty op over there I imagine huh ๐
I still hope the fire dmg on that will be upped
btw guys is the lore stones in the mistlands gets under the rocks i didnt even found any and i should have be i have explored like 30 mistlands already but culdnt even find a single lore stone
They seem to be really rare in mistlands, so just bad luck
i think they are same rarity but glitch under giant rocks
like i have thinked about it a bit
i can find a lot of in plains
Meadows
black forest
Swamp
Ashlands
but i rarely find in mountains and mistlands
and i have finded a lore stone inside a rock in mountain few times while i was mining stone for my build
they have 2 similar points mountains and giant rocks
I usually find 1-3 per mountain, but only if theyre a decent size. I usually find 0 on the smaller ones.
i dont know maximum i saw on a mountain was 2
||This stone was placed by me, Astrid, in my seventh year in Valheim. At this spot, the Allfather spoke to me. I awoke from a deep sleep to find his words scattered around me on the ground, frozen to pebbles by the deep cold. When I warmed them in my hands they thawed and spoke his message to me, one word after another.
Slay the Forsaken. Chain their heads. I will come.|| i found this mountain lore stone on wiki interesting
in all fairness the seed im currently playing on is the best seed ive ever played on and maybe even seen, so ive been very grateful.
aww man i whish they havent removed the meteors from the game
Which meteors? The ones from ashlands placeholder?
them and thre was a plains meteors too that giving directly iron
Hmm, dont remember the plains ones
i still have some glowing metal ore and glowing metal ingots from ashlands one btw XD keeping them as a memory
btw
i know there is still a runestone for plains and i saw it on game too you can check the wiki
Yeah, there is, but that one is talkinmg about single meteor iirc
This one: "||In a land far from here I once saw a star come unfastened from the great curtain of night and fall into the sand. It glowed red when I approached but by morning was cool. Blessed sword-flesh, furnace-food, a gift of strong metal from the Gods!||"
there was few meteors in plains that you could find as i remember in a version
i think i saw it in a youtube video about valheim again in a youtube video pretty uhm close time ? new time ? not sure what the word
never saw plains meteor, I know you can find iron with wishbones underground in plains (or you could) dunno if that's still a thing
I think my game is bugging out, I am on day 27 with hard combat and more raids, and I still haven't gotten a single raid in the black forest or meadows.
I would almost say that if they were in plains then it would have to be pre-EA release
WHAT
Not in plains ๐ in swamp
no mods except for a render distance mod
oh
๐คทโโ๏ธ Could be just lucky
i wonder why ulf dont return to meadows tho ๐
btw this guy named ulfgrim
is it the ulf himself or another one
That the devs would have to clear up i am afraid ๐
if ulf dies at the end imma start a ground is shaking event in the devs home
he is the final raid event, once you beat the game and put the head on the altar he appears "ULF CHALLENGES YOU!" He looks like a draugr but he can sprint, and he has wrestling moves, and if he beats you he steals your humanity and goes to valhalla leaving you in valheim as a draugr. All true.
I doubt it, I have settings on more raids, do they only raid if they've gotten close to your base?
oh hell nuh i wont gonna be a drauger ulf
You need to be in vicinity of 3 or more player base structures to get most raids if you mean that
lets see what he thinks about my troll staf
I have a pretty large base for early game so thats not the case, what I meant was do they not know your base is there if you haven't led many back to it.
What's there to do after beating fader? Just expanding the base rn
another run with challenges
i wonder what scales up to this time i think after 1.0 release he will find and beat every single posbile challenge in the game
i wonder if he is realy a human
"Oh we'll see about that, brรถder!"
#memes-and-clips message
man its looking like ai hell nuh
be a true viking and draw yourself

anyway to be honest if we think ulf made it to ashlands he is porbably survived queens so probably a troll wont be enough anyway
also even though I'm on hard combat the mob spawn is unusually low
did you tried pre nerf ashlands ?
Something has to be wrong with my valheim game, its supposed to be way harder than this
it is at the edge of the black forest but even in the black forest deeper in there are so few daytime enemies
the game isnt particularly hard until freak accidents happen
until the third biome its quite easy in fact
(then you die to a random arrow to the back)
if you keep roaming the same area that will make it seem like it because you are killing things spawning before the others cooldown end so you cant find high amounts and maybe you could have been spawn proofed the are by placing campfires and workbenches around
I wish taming didn't take half a dang hour ๐ฎโ๐จ
There is mead that halves the taming time.
Animal whispers.
Oof I need pungent pebbles and onions...
The pungent pebbles is poops ๐
If you haven't killed bonemass yet you only get raids if very close to your base, need 3 base items to start raid
Raid checks are also on a set timer, if you aren't at your base when that timer ticks, you cannot get a raid. (But you can get hunted instead once you reach the mountains)
It's entirely possible you're just never at your base at the time a raid check is done
on my first playthrough, once I found the BF, I started building a shack at the edge of it, and as soon I built the bed I got raided by greydwarves insstantly, never recovered
yeah I get hunted more than I see raids since I'm almost never at my bases
I don't think I saw a single raid until Ashlands in my last playthrough.
Had a ton of raids in my last magic playthrough sitting around farming and refining EITR
I built an island base, so nothing spawns, everything else is jusst a production satelite
You might want to see what it actually does before writing it off.
I prefer it to stamina meads.
is the belt what gives more weight carry? and if so who sells it?
Haldor.
does it have belt in the name? cuz i didnt see it there or on the bog witch
Itโs megingjord
the name of item?
Yes
And Haldor sells it.
I find them very useful.
Why boar is running away
boar want not be food?
one can only hope
Especially frost arrows
Have them chase you in, then you jump out. After closing them off inside.
They run away from fire
Never really liked it myself. But it can be pretty nice if you eat a good amount of stamina food so you can quickly replenish that bar
Also I imagine it got a pretty big buff from stamina consumption on parry being removed. I believe parrying now doesn't cancel stamina regen so you can stay in the fight while using tasty mead rather than having to take a breather
lol
for some reason I feel like there were a lot more greydwarves spawning in the BF before
I have to search for them in the daytime now
I know I have asked this before, but please can you tone the Ashlands down , it's too relentless, I have spoken to a fair few streamers and expirenced players who don't even r play the Ashlands biome as they find it too hard even on easy mode , and it's not really fun , can you at least take a think on this , , I have at least ,,5 k hours and finding Ashlands too hard
i just don't understand why the charred have to respawn constantly? Like the whole zone is a spawner. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I'm torn because I liked the difficulty in ptb Ashlands where the mob density / aggro was a lot more intense, but even in the current ashlands I find that it's just too much clutter / tedious to be constantly fighting them
From what I heard the plan for Deep North is to have it be more toned back but then just have smaller pockets / areas with some difficult enemies. That sounds like the ideal to me
Is there more to the stonecutter table then just building?
Trying to decide if it's worth sailing around this whole island to bring my extra iron to my main base or not
Not really no.
Interacting with it it opens a crafting menu where you can only craft one item, but that item is needed for a workbench upgrade. Other than that it's just for building/dismantling stone stuff
So it's not a do now thing, it's a do when I feel like it
My workbench is max level though, do you mean forge upgrade?
Later on you'll need it for stone portal
Are those the ones that let you portal metals?
How long for waterlogged items to despawn?
I think I just lost my first iron haul
4 stacks ffs
Abominations BE DAMNED
Just build a bonfire and kite them around it. I got 13 under my belt now
Still gotta dodge, and fix the bonfire so it's not a total cheese
Nice!
What is the stuff you get off leviathans used for? Is it worth trying to get more if spotted again?
Abyssal razor (iron tier knife) and harpoon (lets you drag enemies around)
Harpoon is cool, knife is very good for getting to fight Elder with or start swamp with
Think itโs also used for an ocean trinket that lets you swim faster/longer. most consider that trinket a meme but personally I actually find it very useful
Is there a trick to crafting Dyrnwyn? We have all the pieces but it won't go
never mind
Think I'm finally done with iron. Have all the necessities, and 83 extra bars. Might be time to venture up this mountain right behind my base. Might just build a staircase to the top
I love the knife for when I'm sprinting around gathering. Its alternate attack hits so hard and it doesn't alter run speed
ya know. I never thought id say this. But I need more clutter items when building XD.
I totally forgot I could level the ground with the hoe in the Swamps. This makes my life easier by creating paths and avoiding leeches. ๐
Think that first sentence might have jinxed it
You're never done with iron ๐
if i could ss the starter island swamp youd know im okay
and theres a 2nd swamp here too
its nuts. huge mountain and plains also. idk how big the plains are
Well good luck on your adventures ๐ซก
only 9 more crypts to clear haha
seesh
yeah it aint a bad swamp. just mapped it fully and only did 3 of the 12 crypts. i gotta map out the other one on the opposite side. killed my first furling too, got some black metal scraps
I am so damn jealous of everyone in here ;-;
Do you guys have any method of marking which rooms are cleared in those damn huge sunken crypts?
Cant build inside the dungeons
but what you could do is destroy the thing in the rooms
like the lights, chest and stuff
But generally you'll just have to memorize
Not really, i use "always left" rule when exploring them.
And you can build certain pieces in dungeons, tho only the ones that do not require any workstation like campfires. ๐
I don't remember if they require a workbench, but i don't think they do So they should work
You just cant put it on the water
So campfires are better imo since it lights up the room and immedietly indicates that its already looted
-# Yep, tho if you always go only left or right you don't really need anything to mark stuff
I just follow the wall to my right. It will eventually clear it and bring you back to the entrance
I also keep all the iron on the floor in the entrance. Portal everything back to base, then come back and make my trips of iron
Rarely do I get lost tho I just look at my map and find my way out using the entrance marker
Yeah ofc
But u know I hate waiting ;-; I hope it's within the next month
I swear everytime I get to mistlands
I do the GREAT IRON HARVESTING
That means me slurping up every single midget of iron in the nearest sunken crypt
Most of you guys play solo?
Alot of us play solo yes, but some play with a group
Game is balanced towards solo but its also playable with a group
If you wish to parry, iron buckler
in general bucklers = allows you to parry stronger attack
Yes
I haven't tried parrying as much in this playthrough
I think I was quite good at it though
Banded shield is enough for parrying too, at least when having the best available HHS food setup.
Plus you can set different style for it before crafting.
I like the rounded shields bc aesthetics but for practical use bucklers will be your go to
rounded shields can still parry but some strong attacks you might not be able to parry
Yeah I like banded shield's viking look more but I guess buckler is the more natural choice
yeah unfortuneatly mostly
It's not really unfortunate, I vastly prefer it tbf
its unfortuneate when you start 6 player and 3 of them quit in swamp and other 2 says others quit lets forget it ๐ฅน
It is indeed, but not unfortunate for everyone.
oh i think you bit missunderstood i wasnt talking at the name of the comminity i was saying i am unfortuneatly mostly playing solo*
I understood as well as I could with those three words. ๐คท
Ohhh that feels so satisfying
filling up an entire cart full of IRON

itss not gonna be enoughh
No this is ENOUGH
I have like 5 barrels
Full of iron
For building tho this is not enough
ahahah
I am very confident that the resource multiplier also affects muddy scrap piles
I am encountering so many double scrap piles
i know its effect chest loots and the jewelery that you found around
8/11 of the current sunken crypts on my swamp had atleast more than 3 double scrap piles
@near furnace Happy New Year. Any sneak peeks, progress news planned anytime soon plz?
I could feel the hesitation on that ping
noted its interesting
They're on vacation till 12th. And whatever they're planning to reveal happens in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202150165449035816 so keep that in mind.
Even if Smiffe is okay tagging him please don't try pinging other developers.

is smiffie okey with taggin ? or i just missunderstood
Usually, since he is mainly who interacts with people here of developer team (as his role as CM). But I'd assume depends also on context.
Asking directly for news about the update(s) I would avoid, for example.
dont wanna get the anger of the smiffe the mighty to be honest
when are greydwarves getting removed from the game
i am only half kidding
1300 hours later i hate them maybe more than anything in the entire game
i am on 1300 hours too thanks to them i get my clubs level 100 XD so nuh uh grey dwarfs will stay
Are the boats' speed affected by weight like the cart?
they aint fun i have never seen a more obnoxious enemy in any game i don't think
every, single, thing, i do, anywhere, within 50 miles, of a spruce or pine tree, half a dozen come along to molest me.
no as in my experience
They are not affected.
i dont know as a mace player who has a 100 level mace sending them to allmighty father odin himself is quite fun ๐
its fun until 10 playthroughs later of trying to build
i dont know i usualy makes walls around my build areas and spawnproofs them with workbenches maybe you can put campfires around it could help a bit i think
Is the battleaxe powerful against abomination?
yes you can kill them with 2 combo after stunning him with a parry
Dang
you can keep him stagger lock
Probably the best weapon against it
in swamp age probably
Example: #memes-and-clips message
such a good clip
i think i am not using secondary attack enough
Dang nice
I should probably make a battleaxe asap
Secondary attack is fast has good knockback and stagger which can be used for quickly finishing staggered enemies or to make room for yourself against multiple enemies.
btw do you rather create a new character for every run or have some permanent character
It might take some use first for its relatively slower first attack and bit higher stamina usage, but both are adaptable.
New character for each world.
Were you using power attacks or just the regular combo?
Both: secondary attack is quick stab looking attack which deals half damage but also uses half stamina compared to primary attack and has big knockback and 4x stagger multiplier (or effectively 2x due to half damage).
Primary attacks have 3 hit combo and 1,5x stagger multiplier for the attacks.
Ok so power attack for stagger and then combo + repeat?
Basically secondary is good starter against single mobs like abominations or some later bigger enemies then continue with primary attacks. But the secondary attack is also very useful for making room for yourself or finishing some mobs with low hp when fighting bigger groups.
im at hildir and i see no megingjord ๐
the megingjord is at the trader in the black forest
wth i was told here ๐
@elder hearth please don't try to ping developers ๐
bummer its not on the bog witch either for me ๐
and no more sneak peaks than our usual news posts every now and then
are there multiple versions of bog witch inventories on a map?

no you can only have 1 bog witch per world and the inventory gets updated as you progress
No, Bog Witch has her own inventory of items she sells (mostly ingredients for meads/potions and feasts). Defeating most bosses unlock new items for her.
ok i think im being confused, is there a hildir and haldor?
thats the issue then lol we havent found haldor
They're siblings, Hildir spawns in outer meadows areas and Haldor in black forest.
i presume theres no easy way to find his location either ๐
there is a way actualy but it could considereable as cheating so its your personal choice you can use a seed map if you dont have time to make a lot of exploration
You have to travel quite far in order to find them. Haldor spawns 1500m away from world center. Hildir and the Bog Witch spawn at least 3000m away from the center (iirc). Your best bet to find them is to travel far away in any direction and explore there
You can cheat their location with the seed map found online, but only do that once you truly give up. It's not very satisfying to have to look it up
i cant get my iron cooking station to work. 2 fires under it, says i need a fire under it
now i have 3 fires under it and its saying idont have one
There are three invisible points that check for fire, the easiest way to cover them is with a single hearth
you can build one with a stonecutter
ahhh okay
You can actually get 3 iron cooking stations over a single hearth.
I may have to do that. About to start hunting sea serpents
-# You can squeeze in 4 if you put them parallel to the short side, but you have to be quite precise ๐
Too much real estate.
I was faffing with the cooking stations for the last 5-10 minutes just to get them all to actually work xD so its not really easy, but doable for sure
different weapons has different ranges right ? but which weapon type has the most range ? i can't find that info or stats when i looked it up
Bow ๐
But from melee weapons, which are the ones that you most likely are interested in, it should be atgeir i believe
Atgeir it is.
Btw, wiki has the range info on individual weapon pages in the right table in hitbox windows ๐
For example: axes page show axe hitboxes.
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Axes
Nice start. Need moar
Thats like 2 and a half worth of iron in the reinforced chest lol
Yep, a nice start ๐
I used that much making a stone bridge connecting my island base to continent
Why not use flametal beams for support?
Not there yet. We are in mistlands on this world right now
Try using dvergr walls aswell
Uhm
#screenshots message @steel mica They can spawn during daytime only when it rains. Those don't despawn unlike night time spawns.
No it wasnt raining
I just saw this one near my boat, which is terrifying
Probably has at some point, it might have spawned while you were bit more away.
Hmm interesting
It wasnt raining tho back at my base
context: my base is at the meadows
is the full release date already leaked?
Does the Spirit damage from Silver Arrows stack with the one from the Spinesnap?
They should but its best to just go with a higher dmg'ing arrow since every enemy in the mistlands are immune to spirit dmg
I'm doing some math and realized that Silver and Frost arrows with a Spinesnap are objectively better than Charred Arrows and the Ash Fang, even if the Ash Fang is upgraded with a gem. Frost Arrows are definitely BiS for Mistlands since Seekers resist all physical damage types. In Ashlands, every enemy resists Pierce, so the bow damage gets halved as well. However, since all enemies are affected by Spirit (and most of them are weak to it), the Spinesnap having higher Spirit damage with Silver or Frost arrows outdamages the Ash Fang
I think Frost arrows are slightly better than Silver Arrows in the Ashlands due to the higher Frost damage, but you'll need Silver Arrows for Warlocks due to them having Frost Resistance, for some reason
In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, the Draugr Fang might be better than the Spinesnap in Mistlands. Seekers and Dvegr are all vulnerable to Poison
Valkyries, voltures and asksvin don't resist pierce.
0.5x - (dmg of weapon) + elemental = result
Draugr Fang indeed is bit better option in Mistlands due to lower stamina cost while drawing and extra poison that enemies there take normal damage, but they're not particularly vulnerable to it.
Level 4 Spinesnap w/ Frost Arrows against a Seeker: Max 107 dmg per shot
Level 4 Draugr Fang w/ Frost Arrows against a Seeker: Max 113 dmg per shot
The lower stam cost sells it tbh
This is factoring in Pierce resistance, frost and poison damage
Charred and valkyries are weak against spirit so Spinesnap + silver arrow combo can be useful.
The thing with silver arrows is that they don't add THAT much Spirit damage. Only 20. Voltures are also neutral to spirit, not weak. Against Valkyries it's a different story
Against Voltures, Frost arrows are def BiS
ive been to the mountain TWICE
and both times ive been jumped by 5+ enemies
i do NOT remember the enemies spawning this frequently
i cant even go and collect the silver there because of the surplus of enemies
fuck this mountain bruh
Voltures actually are weak against frost damage so yeah.
not updated for CtA
horizontal range will be the same it just needs height changes for the new hitboxes
True, but range was asked which is provided there.
third time goin, not even like halfway up the mountain and 3 wolves just start chasing me
i might just wait for my friend to get on because im wearing bear armor and cannot take 3 at once which seems like the minimum im getting on this mountain
Full bear set? You could try equipping iron helmet (or Drake helmet if you have already acquired silver) for more armor, no movement speed penalty and no slight weaknesses from full armor set bonus.
yeah i just didnt want to go searching for another swamp since we used all of our iron and had no more crypts, cant get to the silver because its guarded by the entire mountain
You're not trying to go during night, right?
NO ITS DAY THATS WHY IM BAFFLED ๐ญ
You could also equip troll hood so it breaks the set bonus.
ive never seen so many enemies spawn at once during the day in the mountains
yeah i could do that but at the same time troll has considerably less defense no?
Troll armor pieces have 6 vs Bear armor 7 per piece at quality 1, so no significant difference. But the set bonus of Bear set grants you slight weaknesses against pierce, blunt and slash, which makes you more vulnerable against most enemies, especially in harder biomes. So if you wear one armor piece of other armor set it won't add you the weaknesses (but no positive bonuses either).
Bear armour is bad
That's subjective. I love the armor set.
I saw some post calculated it makes you take about 56% more damage from most enemies
i think bear armours this situation harming the balancement much
the bronze armour was so weak i always hated it and they give us a reason to hate it more
I like its style but it lacks practicality
i only really get hit when there are 3+ enemies so ive never had much of an issue with the extra damage taken
except for this damn mountain bro
What do you mean with practicality?
+1
Idk tbf I haven't tried it myself lol
I only read a bit
๐ญ
how can you say an armor is bad without ever using it broski
hey my friends using that broski word too what does it mean ?
its just another word for bro
guys i wonder am i not the only one thinks bronze armour nearly useless ?
no, 6 defence increase from troll isn't enough
honestly yeah i personally think that troll armor and bear armor is better
i dont remember if bronze armor has a set bonus i havent used it in forever
maybe its head peace maybe but body parts ?
Heavy armor never has a set bonus
yeah i was pretty sure it didnt i just didnt want to be wrong
Light armour is best
frrrr
i cant realy see a reason using it being slow getting you soooo much more hit
Light armour is beast
is there a light armor for the plains i forgot
There is now.
vilebone armor was added in CtA
they just added in call to arms
oh thats good i havent played in a while and didnt know if cta added one
thats goated news frfr
i am like yippie i have new pant
Vilebone is from plains? I thought it was in mistlands. I haven't been in either of those biomes much since the update.
yeah its from plains now every biome have at least 2 armour set except ocean and deep north
i think it was neceserry
Ocean armor would be... a thing. Would it give defense between black forest and swamp?
hmm i think its complicated so if we think serpent meat itself is high as mistlands tier food
i think it would definitly be higher than swamp
let me check abbysal razor too
Serpent scale shield needs iron and abyssal razor has swamp tier damage, ocean armor would probably be swamp tier too
and serpents are balanced for combat against black forest players
then there is ocean feast ?
yes
in whic level it is
I think it has the same stats as mountain feast, so post-moder
i think we should check everything
but it's available before bonemass
realy waow
hmm abyssal razor is definitly lower than silver tier
It's the swamp knife.
i think if there was a armour set for ocean it should be at least more than swamp
its foods mostly higher than plains
Probably heavy armor, though. Serpent scales make a tower shield and chitin is heavy.
but intended to be made at swamp tier and higher
i think i have better theory
so if you think abyssal razor is accesible after black forest
but its higher than there
and so the feast and other things accesible after swamp
but so much higher than swamp tier
the ocean is the thing bounds all biomes
it should be the perfect middle
like 8 biomes and ocean
so higher than mountain i suppose
?
i have to go to dinner i would love to hear your opinions about it
feels more natural to think of the quality of serpent drops as a reward for that optional challenge, especially stuff made from their scales or trophy since that almost requires you to get one to shore
unlike land biomes, you usually only enter the ocean in order to get to another place, you're always on the move, so simply outrunning or avoiding serpents is an effective tactic especially once you have a longship
hi guys im newbie looking for duo
We have https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 for searching for group.
(:
I wanna ask the question
Which question?
When deep north?
When it is ready.
Shucks
Ah, yes. The question, the most original of questions, that which has never been asked before.
oh hell nuh this man is lying he is a litteral veteran ๐
Yeah, generally new players don't stalk a server for 3 years before playing the game.
3 years experience, certainly a newbie
๐
๐
Feels like it with every new biome.
so i wonder why tho you said you are a newbie ? XD
Iโve got just 2,512.6 hours of experience in this game - barely anything
yeah thats what was goverment said when we ask how much the tax cost us yearly XD
hey i saw that
i think there is only one person that can agree to it and thats Scales i wonder how many hours he did spend in game
Iโm always up for learning new things ๐
That's like more than my tf2 hours by like a 100 hours
Honestly im not surprised if its in the 3k range
Imagine how much more he'll have after deep north releases
man i dont wanna believe that a player get to those skill levels in 3 K hours i am imagining he could have at least 5 K
Replayability in valheim is astounding, you can still scratch a few more 100 hours and still learn a thing or two
Playing Valheim for that many hours without mods is crazy
I only played the first 500 hours on default settings
me 700
did you ever played without mods after that ?d
You know the base game is good when you can play it continuesly without mods
ive played over 1k hours without mods
Like I said replayability here is nice
If the gameโs default version was that good, there wouldnโt be so many mods
I really love Valheim, but obviously the game has some gaps, and mods help fill them
seen em before right? they blend in pretty well, not that much rarer than carrot seeds, just very easy to miss compared to carrots
yeahh they just didnt spawn for a while, finally found one
i really wish there was a way to farm rasberries
since theyre like so important for so many crafting recipes
default valheim is amazing and can easily provide 1000+ hours of fun
my brother is about 1700hrs in vanilla, im at about 250 and still not getting bored.
I suppose if all you do is try to speed through the bosses like this is some kind of narrative driven game expecting to "beat it" you can get bored of a repetitive loop, but each new playthrough Is an opportunity to create new stories, new settlements, new adventures, make new friends. I dont see how that could be boring for anyone.
.
Iโll probably spend around 500 hours just building
Iโve been playing this game since 2021, and the vanilla version just isnโt enough for me
wait, this is also a game?
Woww i just mined a silver vein part and like half the vein exploded, instant full inventory
Hell yeah, silver mining is one of the most satisfying activities
only if the stone golems are asleep haha
true xd
They're there they are just hard too see. Gotta walk around staring at the ground
im playing pure vanilla with only a cosmetic mod
im looking forward to the, "We got Deep North before GTA 6" memes... hopefully.
because i play with a lot of other people that are on vanilla so no compatibility issues
so was december the month that the devs took a break?
Anyone know how to easily move a boar breeding pen including 4 boars easily across a biome?
Did you leave any feedback for the developers anywhere as to why it's isn't enough for you?
Boars try to move to where they spawned, it's easiest to tame new ones
hmm but my base is nowhere near a boar spawn and its annoying to wait for them to breed at a base where there is nothing lol
how far have you progressed?
I have just made a bronze pickaxe, still struggling to kill bears and trolls, but doing alright i guess
yes. most start working this week or on monday the 12th (next week)
so your base is deep inside a black forest? Boars spawn anywhere in meadows.
no at the border, but no spawns close since i built it
Because youre hoping Deep North comes out soon or you want GTA to be delayed?
Each boss, each biome I've reached, I realised that I gotta build. Not just get enough resources for 1 set of maxed armor and 2 weapons
Pretty much nothing left to do in the ashlands other than killing fader once you get enough resources for a maxed set, food and meads. Should've played previous biomes at a slower pace
have you tried an abyssal razor? slash/pierce and attainable by bf progression
Where do you suppose i get chitin in black forest lol
no need to be smart, I said "by BF progression" which means you likely have a boat
Not really, should i make one? enough land undiscovered still
I prefer it, up to you, bear is weak to slash/fire iirc, and trolls are wweak to pierce so
I think there are way too many bears spawning, I've seen them spawn behind me as im walking the coasts, I would make them only spawn at the borders of BF and mountain personally
I would make them tameable and rideable. Just imagine a joy of riding up on a fuling village in the death of night on a 2 star Vile ...
Theyโre more common than trolls but easier to avoid because they have a hearing limit
viles should have been undead raptor skeletons covered in tar too
And they both have a spawn limit of 1
So we will never see a sleuth of bears ? ๐ป
You could by spawning them far from each other so none are loaded when they spawn and then bring them together
But in normal gameplay no
Maybe they can make a mini dungeon of goldilocks and three bears
Technically they take just normal damage from slash, not particularly weak against it but it's best option.
we need 2h torches
So in Valheim we use phrases like bronze-age, iron-age for progression and not post-Elder, post-Eykthir?
most do, yes
or we'll refer to progression by biome. I.e. I'm in swamp.
can I "lock" signs? I'm tired of accidentally clicking on the sign instead of opening a chest in my storage hut
Those, or I like to use [insert biome] era, [insert biome] tier equipment/foods etc.
is valheim living a hype phase again or am i tripping ?
It's not a phase, mom!!
No, but you can use some clever ascii text manipulation to move the sign. i.e. if you place a sign under the floor, you can use <voffset=50><size=10><#FFF>wood to make the letters float in front of the chest directly above.
tffff, excuse me while i redo fscking everything
I know, eh?
is there any proper way to farm red ores?
like the ones that are used in the forges
Hit them with a pickaxe
It is tedious though. Mining metals in later biomes gets a bit less tedious and more interesting
no i mean the ones used to creat the forges
srry my english is bad
Ah, surtling cores?
The one used to make the smelting and coal making buildings?
yes
Only way early game is going in the dungeons (burial chambers) in the black forest and hope you find some. Some dungeons have a lot, some have none. They don't respawn though, so no need to revisit dungeons you've been to
Once you get past the black forest and make it to the next biome, there's another way to get them too that a lot of people prefer
The AI pathfinding really needs some work
constant hype, 8th biome coming out in a big update, (not officially confirmed when) and current update - Call To Arms - is absolutely amazing!
are draugr supposed to be killed from only a few shots from a finewood bow with flint arrows on very hard combat diff
feels to easy
or maybe im getting better
yeah but if you take a shot from an archer without root chest, good luck haha don't know if you survive even an unstarred one on VH
whats root chest? I just got to the swamp for the first time
I usually just build bad bases in BF
first time and you play VH? brave haha
It seemed way too easy compared to last time I played
maybe I'm just good now lol
also trying to do a no death run
also good luck fighting several at once with bow, maybe you're better yeah, the combat modifiers didnt get nerfed, starred enemies are a nightmare on VH
I usually use my polearm to fight multiple, or climb high up and hope they go away
/try to get an angle to shoot
Curious whats the highest dmg that an enemy can do on very hard 2** excluding minibosses and bosses
I think someone did the maths and it was more than max health someone can have haha
my iron mace make sure they sleep usualy so its fine
same man sam
Directly to the nu-
Can stagger them nonstop
XD
That's good! It means you're adequately prepared possibly
I already done mistlands on my main world but this takes the cake for over preparedness
Fully coated in padded armor, full plains food diet, frostner, krom, arbalest in hand
is it your first time playing ?
Beehives are a pain in the ass
try that root armor
and make some barley wines for gjalls
how did you get the krom before mistlans
I already know this
so why full padded
I rushed with iron progression lol
Because looks sick
Yes
On my first mistlands run I did use root
But this one I just went with full padded cause I had the iron and looks beautiful
agreed
Ashlands will still be hell despite already having experienced it and knowing what to do
i dont like the most of heavy armors but full set wolf armour and padded are amazing
I sometimes just remove the helmet to gaze upon my viking's facial features
i think ashlands gonna be difficult even after we get deepnorth items its just insane bro i am just tired of getting constantly jumped by 1 star askvins during day time
i remember i have used a mod for seeing my viking face and hair
invisi helm ? was it not sure
My goal in there is to immediately rush one of the fortresses
+1
i think raiding fortresses is easier than exploring pre nerf ashland
Building a base in the coast is next to impossible
Or just building a base in the ashlands in general is a nightmare without body guards
Is the root harnesk worth using in the mistlands compared to full padded? That pierce resistance might pay off against the seekers
Yes
100% worth it
What about plains?
I stuck with Full padded for plains
You negate most of the main threats in mistlands just by wearing that armor piece
unbreakeable walls help a lot i am usualy raising the ground with hoe to not harm the doors and so much easier
Yeah I'll be running that with a bunch of fire meads for the gjall
Cool, already got that and maxxed ๐
if you have hard time about some insect problem try root harnesk ๐
Gjall's arent too difficulty to deal with
its op
Are they weak against frost by any chance?
You can dodge roll through the fire ball
They have a weak spot
Is fenrhir armour set any good? It seems situationally good against fire enemies.
Just wondering about the best arrows to use
best set in the game
Even in Ashlands its stupidly good
Free 9% speed
wear fenris, drink ratatosk, laugh as nothing can catch you
Just be weary because you're very weak
if they are wet yes
depends on food
nuh to be honest its has resistance but being fast helping you so much more than that fire resistance
https://youtu.be/akemDxzKE3Y?si=BeiMgQQug--AsFCy if you dont have spoiler concerns about mistlands check this
Ever since I reached ashlands I just rocked with the 2 eitr giving feast
they op
They are honestly broken imo in a group
I just run around ashlands and grab 2 stacks of smoke puffs and fiddles
and that's enough to last you a while
Its cheaper to craft and gives u 3 stats
when i have tried my latest build just for fun best 2 feast plus any best food your choice is a god like build
I have a big kitchen on my original world
Very organized
I think the screenshot is still in building discussions
I already rock with eitr
Because I am a heavy + magic build
i wonder if any point in the would they let us buy directly feast with gold
i have like 3 black metal chest of coins
I prefer the herbs
Buying them direct is honestly a nerf imo
You get like 3 herbs per buy
after killing the last bosses
as a working person sometimes i just dont have time for thing and just wanna play the game
Ah
dont like using dev commands
I could honestly see deep north being a bit more lengthy than the previous biomes
but i duped somethings few times tho
hope so
nuh not against the using it just dont wanna add something to my pure survival world
Fair
agreed but using dev commands you can do amazing things
btw man your base is looking sick
i am usualy making base that good looking outside but awfull inside ๐ฅน
I am the opposite lol
The outside is VERY unfinished
Also ty
By your powers combined..!
nuh man probably i am just overrating my self about outside anyway ๐
but maybe one day we make a ultimate base together ๐
Maybe
Unfinished from outside and awful inside?
I don't like leaving the roof empty
So I add like little support details that adds a bit of depth to it
#building-screenshots messagebut this was the best interior design i made
Im talking about the roof inside
owww man come on mercy on us
Kidding ofc.
My detailing skills is still needing some improvements but my current base on my second playthrough looks fine and dandy
I still like the kitchen I did on my second playthrough
If you are curious dead, heres the current world #building-screenshots message
its feels like a museum
and so tight ๐คฏ
is there a any outside photo of your builds because i feel like probably your builds looking pretty fine
#building-screenshots message the building that claimed to be looking bad outside
my builds probably crying in the corner
๐ฅน
btw funny idea if you are not happy because walls looking just empty and basic outside and if you cant put a window and the wall because of interior design you can put two 45degrees or other (i dont remember the degree) pole and put a little ship on to it ?
it would look funny
a litteral ship on to building i am usualy putting ships on my decks roof
Now that I've reached up to plains/5th boss, I guess I need to work out what to do next. I found Hildir on the border of a plains and meadows biomes and put a portal down. I travelled by boat and already defeated Geirhaffa but forgot to bring the chest. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Perhaps I should get the serpent shield for pierce resistance.
Youve defeated Yagluth?
After this what we began doing was building a forever base in a biome next to the mistlands. Luckily we found a dark forest to place it in but if you can find a meadows you're laughing.
We could have made a base in the plains but we dont want the trouble of having fulings and the likes attack the base
I have not. That is my next goal. I know plains is a dangerous biome so I'm wondering what to aim for. I guess I kill fulings for the black metal ore to get the next best gear?
Yes. Go for fulings for the black metal gear first, but you will eventually have to attack the fuling villages in order to get flax to get the armour and barley for foods
Each village has a beserker so id always try and take them out at long range first.
Barley and flax can only be grown in the plains iirc
On the slighty finished one I added windows
Cool. Are they vulnerable to frost arrows? My strategy will be to snipe them with my draugr fang with frost arrows.
Frost arrows are good. Needle arrows will eventually replace them but I use both anyway
Frost Arrows are arguably the strongest arrow type in the game
They have very high damage (26 pierce + 52 frost for a total of 78 damage, almost on par with Charred Arrows), nothing relevant resists Frost damage, and slows enemies down as well. Frost Arrows absolutely destroy Seekers and make quick work of most Ashlands enemies as well
Needle Arrows are good only when you don't want to spend precious Frost Arrows
Needle and Carapace arrows are very good against Gjalls though
I do wonder if that will change when deep north drops
A way to nerf them would be to make them more similar to Poison Arrows
Instead of applying all the elemental damage at once, poison is a DoT and it doesn't stack, so you can't just spam arrows like crazy and instantly kill something, like with Frost ones
If Frost was a DoT that didn't stack, they'd be way weaker
Having deep north mobs be resistant to frost arrows would at least get us to use something else.
Regardless, I like the fact that the game gives you a reason to use gear from earlier biomes. Most games often power creep the old stuff.
I really like the Silver Sword being as strong as it is in Ashlands. I do believe that the 4th level on weapons and armor should be more meaningful. Right now there's little reason to upgrade something to lvl 4 due to the heavy resource requirement and the little bonus it gives
Thats a good point actually. The only thing that improves is the damage and durability, but I think a slight bump to swing speed for weapons would be nice.
Thereโs not a lot of resistances / weaknesses in plains, and the ones that are there donโt matter a ton
Only thing of note is that pierce is quite a bit better against Lox
is lox have resistance against slash ?
Resistant to blunt, frost and slash but weak to fire
tbf, anything that isnt strong against frost dies to frost
Me when deep north enemies are available to kill:
I mean that goes for any damage type
But yeah frost is pretty busted. Thereโs a reason frostner is perfectly valid for 3 biomes after you make it
Sorry, I looked through the channel lists twice and somehow missed it
All goods ๐
I love the mistlands so much
me too ๐
Mistlands are so pretty. Especially when it storms
Mistlands is my favorite biome.
Have the developers ever mentioned adding NPCs that could function as helpers, guards, or villagers?
I usually play solo and enjoy building, but settlements feel a bit empty without any simulated human presence. ๐ค
Closest thing we have are dvergrs
What's that?
I dont wanna spoil
Is it part of the game?
Yes
Youll find them ๐
That probably aroused their curiosity to look it up
Got it. Iโm in the Swamp, Iron Age right now. Iโve just made my iron sword, axe, and pickaxe, but the amount of iron required for upgrades is kind of crazy. ๐ซ
Joel, question
You've got this!
How many roots have you gotten in one area and made a base around it?
Devs have said they're not planning to add settler like NPCs iirc.
The upgrades are often costly ๐ but on the other hand you never need any resources to fix your stuff
That's where "my mobile expedition portal" comes handy! Haha I always carry with me the mats of the other end of a portal.
Hmm, depends. I usually set up several small sap farms scattered around different locations, trying to find those areas with at least 4 roots close together.
Want me to show ya something?
I'm currently at something IRL but I can reply later.
I'll just spill the beans, theres not 4, not 5, not 6, but ||9|| roots
All in walking distance
I am so puzzled on what to always prioritize in the mistlands lol
I believe the longship is faster and more maneuverable than the karve, but if the windโs against you, it wonโt budge! Got stuck in the middle of the ocean before I realized I wasnโt moving ๐
The karve is more maneuverable but not as fast
full sail with karve is about 2/3's with longship
Plenty fast to outrun serpents if needed ๐
They are on sight for me ๐
Delicous sea serpeant meat
Yep yep, i also just kill them most of the time ๐ but if you turn with the wind and put full sail with carve they keep the distance from you quite well so its easy to shoot them
Dont enemies lose interest if they cant catch up?
Yep, but usually i can kill it fast enough that its not problem
Ah
Any news about Deep North this year?
No timeline confirmed yet.
Other than PS5 release during 2026.
I built a small shelter near a triple-biome junction where the Swamp, Black Forest, and Meadows meet, and for some reason, almost every day I see skeletons and draugrs fighting greydwarfs, wild boars, lizards and sometimes a bear, which is occasionally a 1-star bear. Is it normal for bears to appear so frequently there? ๐ค
Credits go to @exotic cradle for creating the gif โค๏ธ
Finally the equilavent for the Ashlands emoji.
If the conditions have been met for a bear to spawn previously, it is just as likely for them to spawn again. Though it is possible that spawn can also be taken by another creature.
Seeker soldier...
๐
You are now hired
Definitely not me inprisoning the seeker soldier
I'm doing my part
ah, the ol' razzle dazzle trap them in a hole so no more can spawn trick eh?
๐ #valheim-help
Thank you
@chrome badge so I know that that is a top hat emoji but without checking it looks like a toilet
Bahaha oh my gosh I see it too
lf to trade 5 barley with 100 coins
This is not minecraft
im desperate i accidentally planted all my barley off the edge of the plain lmao
Time to raid some more Fuling encampments
we were flattening out a perfectly sized plains island but i forgot there was a forest biome edge where the portal was near lmao
Ah im doing a similar thing but with mistlands and plains
rip 24 barley
I can hand yall some if you need it
that would be amazing omg
weโre pretty new to the plains biome (undergeared might i add)
okay okayyy
When will they deliver the patch?
On patch day
Patch Day should be an international holiday. No work, no school, just venturing northward!
Network traffic would suck if we could only get game patches on one holiday
Patch day should be an international 30 days holiday.
Heh, will probably take some time off when DN comes ๐
if vever u need someone a little more suited gear wise feel free to hit me up and i can helkp you
Alright today we finish the game and we kill fader ๐
Time off reason: "Cold" ๐คญ
Time off: Reason is sealed
do we know when the next update blog is gonna be?
we havent had one since like november
In due time Viking, In due time
Christmas holidays during December and the devs are mostly coming back in the next few days
(From holiday)
crafts another sealbreaker ๐
๐ญ๐ฅบ
Please don't spread false information
Letโs not @vale holly
It probably is in Deep North.
Is this true??
I figured letโs not means donโt spread misinformation but hey
Learning experience
Is "when hell freezes over" a good estimate though?
Iโll say it differently. Letโs not joke about the Deep North being delayed period
No matter how you phrase it
Awww but it's funny
So youโre checking in for a few nights then?
Yeah, the developers work hard and anyone could take what you say at face value.
There's no real joke there anyways.
Deep North is like a wizard. It will arrive when it means to.
Hereโs your room key ๐
๐๐๐๐๐ ๐
Iโve mastered the art of waiting with no info.
I'll be the hobbit meeting the cart as it comes into view. ๐ช ๐
HEY
What is the best amor?
The one you stay alive in. It completely depends on biome, playstyle, and what you are trying to do
What biome are you in?
Generally thereโs light and heavy armor. Heavy armor lets you tank more hits, light armor lets you move faster and oftne give some extra special effects
Both are very useful, so up to preference. In the early biomes like Black Forest tjough, I donโt recommend heavy armor. The light armor is really good in that biome
Troll armor
Okay thanks
Why though? Its only good for sneak, but when does one really sneak?
i wonder why higher * bears dont drop their trophy more likely
i had to grind for like 2 hours for the bear armor because of bad luck
it has higher armour values than the previous tier but doesnt slow you down, making it a good option
on top of that its kinda "free" cuz you have troll hides in abundance, contrary to the annoying to farm bronze
the next two light armour sets are annoying to farm and extremely powerful (at least the chest pieces)
I used it all the way to Ashlands, it's my go-to set for setting up a portal in a new biome.
thats root armour for me, basically
that chest piece is almost an eternal bis piece cuz resists are broken
i Litteraly have the samemindset
its a common opinion among the experienced players
I am a big fan of the fenris set with a feather cape, speed pot, and light foot pot
Absolutely zooming in that
sure, but the defense begins lagging behind by the time you hit ashlands
Doesnโt change how much I love it
thats why you use one resist piece and the rest full armour
Yeah itโs a great combo for scouting
just dont get into a skirmish xd
only downside the fenrsis set has is the fact that farming it is a massive pita
You wonโt, youโre too fast ๐
I thought everyone farmed in their skivvies.
I only do that with the chest piece. The helmet and legs are pretty doo doo for me
well yeah, the armour ingeneral is only good for the swamp area and the growths in the plains
after I get better pieces i replace legs and helmet as needed
Fenrir armour my beloved
Isnt the bear set more usefull and more armour?
less total defenses, and a bit more rng to get
the defense value itself is higher, yes
but the res penalty... meh
I've been generally going down the heavy armour sets. I've managed to avoid dying in my current SP game.
Such that my running level is 82.
I've nearly died to a troll with 3 HP to spare and to Moder twice.
does anyone know what rune to draw if you special summon yagluth with three kvasturs?
the general trick is that light armour allows you to pick your battles with much more ease
also some of the light armour sets have arguably better defenses than the heavy sets due to the added resistances
Holy shiiโฆ I love the longship! It gives zero flying Fs whether itโs raining, caught in a storm, an apocalypse, or whatever! ๐
That's true
Often light armor is unlocked much earlier than the heavy one and it is much faster to get you just have to kill one type of mob a few times. It also won't slow you down and require less metal so it just makes thing more efficient. A good shield, good food and being confident in parrying is a lot more important than armor IMO
the only exception being our friend fenrir cuz caves are a pain to find and farm
Absolutely, it is not one I farm but I get the appeal
the chest piece is goated but alas...
Bear armor go to after CtA during black forest/swamp era for me.
am i allowed to send medal clips here or no
ill prolly just be safe and send it to clips
Well, you cant send it here ๐ but the channel Joel linked would work
Cautionary tale: don't throw fish on ground near water level.
why is fishing THIS hard though
i feel so bad now knowing how intense the fishing actually is
like i get the gimmick and how it works
but if you mess up even ONCE all your stamina is instantly gone
my english isnt enough :/
nuh we have a lot more advantages
have you considered cheese?
Keeping the line shorter makes it easier, you can also pause reeling since not reeling won't use stamina (but won't regen either) and move backwards to pull the fish on ground.
i just feel like the stamina should be drained a bit less to make the fishing part more fun other than finding methods to cheese it
ahhaah yeah its hard but you can send shorter hooks to catch with less stamina or just run away from the water and get the fish out that way ๐
definitly agree
as is the minigame basically completely focuses on cheese, ye
Also when the fish struggles it will consume much more stamina so pausing during that is good idea too.
yeah but even when its not pulling it still HEAVILY drains stamina relatively quickly
so if you arent only consuming only stamina foods youll have to play far more perfect
I have a bug that means I can't write on my signs. Does anyone have an idea? for some it works and for some it doesn't
is the sign facing the right way
kind of a dumb question but i sometimes but them the wrong way
kinda common, ye
its all good lol happens
game sometimes just has them face the wrong way if you dont correct it
if its the same piece you last built it always starts them back in the same position you left it. same snap point too (though that seems to be less reliable in my experience)
i really wish valheim had proximity vc
Why's that?
Do you think the 3rd boss is harder than The Elder? Should I be worried. I hauled my 2nd batch of iron, and I think I'm "ready" ๐ค
sometimes my friend vc's with his girl and itd be easier if i could just talk in game rather than just having to type
make sure you have poison resistance mead
It sounds like your friend is opting out of speaking with you for the time being though.
You could always have a voice chat with everyone.
yeah but its just awkward being a 3rd wheel yk
Typically the next boss is harder, you'll just want to be prepared using new equipment/mead/etc.
In my experience it can be a good dynamic just as easily.
yeah but me n his girl have ENTIRELY different personalities that clash so instead of making things awkward i just type in game instead
it aint that deep tho its chill if i js type
Fair enough, though it could be said that it'd make things difficult for your friend if he's dealing with two seperate voice channels at once.
he does it all the time ngl, i DO speak in vc in any other game that has it
its just valheim doesnt thats why i was wishin it did
Yeah, Valheim is primarily a single player experience, with additional coop features, such a feature would require too much server load on a local host.
i always thought it was intended for multiplayer ngl it just seems much better in multiplayer than singleplayer
its always more fun (for me) when i can play with at least 1 friend
i usually play with 3-4 friends cuz its just peak playing with an actual community
when is the global update
Some people would say "when it's ready"
almost every game is more fun with friends
even games like DS3 or ER
yeah but this game moreso
since you can build a whole community and village
Is there some prerequisite for viles to spawn? I've hunted plains for like a week at night and not seen any
Don't think so, just has to be night. Might be getting unlucky, I usually find 1 or 2 per night hunt (granted I've only gone hunting for a few nights ever)
I recommend just finding a big plains biome, activating eikthyr and ratatosk, then running through it
They do sometimes look like Lox though, careful you don't miss them
Their spawn rate is very rare and only by night. But I usually don't have problems to find at least 2 of them each night, I think I've found 5 in one night at best.
dont they also spawn near tar pits?
There is no such requirement.
Yeah I haven't noticed or heard of any relation to tar pits
must be coincidence
Viles and growths actually fight each other since viles belong to plains faction.
Welp. Finally found one. The parry timing on their overhead is slightly earlier than the bear apparently. ๐
They should have quite same attack patterns as bears.
Remember: incase you don't find something after some time, come tell about it in here and it will appear.
I like bringing viles to tar pits to get lit up
The vile usually survives with a few hp after beating up the growths, easy to finish up (though this is on hard, might be more vile favored on normal)
Growths will win if I distract the vile
always fun to bait a large fuling village into a double pit
the winner gets frostner
Sorry i am too noob to understand this haha what does it mean?
And how do you get troll hides in abundance? Been looking all over for those blue guys to help me mine copper but cant find any lol
Hunting them is your best bet
How come sometimes I can sleep during daylight
After midday you can sleep for the rest of the day till next morning.
Ah cool
It helps speeding up certain processes like mead fermenting or crops growing.
Yes it did
if the stars are in the sky, you can sleep usually
Does the buff from Elder power affect muddy scrap piles?
Or are they squishy enough anyway?
It grants more pickaxe power, so it mines scrap piles faster too (although their chunks don't have much hp but pickaxes suffer from multi target penalty).
are we cannibals in valheim werent draugr ancient vikings
like if you eat sausage or anything that uses entrails isnt that just straight up cannibalism
Seeker soldier trophy at this point is just a giant turkey
I do feel a bit gross just looking at those "sausages"
Slaughters boars: "Ew, gross entrails."
Slaughters bloated zombie vikings: "I should make some Sausages!"
We make shakes out of slime for crying out lout
Let's not even think about the eyescream
are swamps broken? or did the devs make a REALLY bad change to how often sunken crypts appear? My new group has been two three MASSIVE swamps and have yet to find a single crypt. Its a fresh game, so IDK what on earth is going on, but its not a great gaming experience.
Sometimes we just gotta get the stat buff.
but they can build ruined towers with glitches stairs with a spawner that cause you to get patryy wiped 50 times over.
devs need to re-play test the swamps. they broken some pretyt important things. its VERY frustrating.
Can I join anyoneโs server?
Bad rng lol
the swamps make me hate Valheim. Res tof the game I love. the swamps are jsut horrible IMO and I agree some of its bad RNG, but bad RNG on an alreayd rough biome is killer.
Yeah
I just came across an empty sunken crypt...
yeah IDK... It didnt used to be like this? swamp was always a nightmare to start as a biome until you got set up with iron, but now it jsut seems all around bad, and the crypts are far and few between it seems. I dont know if the devs are jsut shifitng a focus into making the game hard and its turning it bad, or if they wanted to slow the game down and now the crypts are way to rare or what.
You arent prepared for the 6th biome
This is only the start
I've had 7 total playthroughs now, that's never once happened to me or my group, and it sounds like hyperbole from my perspective to be honest.
It typically doesn't take long to find a swamp with plenty of Sunken Crypts, as a lot of the time you can just sail by and see them from the water.
Well arent you lucky. Im glad for your random seeds giving you good biomes
It's not all because I've had good biomes, but because I also won't dock unless I see a small handful of crypts from the shorelines, which is made easy by the green torches.
one swamp had none, another was loaded. keep exploring
Yeah I usually donโt land in a swamp until I see either crypts or turnips
I oftne sail by several swamps before deciding on one I find worthwhile. You have to pass up a lot of them, but Valheims world is pretty massive so it doesnโt matter much
Any new updates for the release date for ps5?
You can find #news here, and nothing beyond the initial announcement so far.
I can feel the itchness to play
Passed the swamps, the trouble for my group is finding a mountain that is big enough to spawn more than just wolves -_-
Reeeeeeeee
Just beat no map for the first time!
God status acheived ๐ค
Nice
Only thing left is very hard on hardcore

Is there some meta strategy for the mistlands? I see giant tick UFOs flying around and killed at least 1 of everything I could find, and harvested what I could find, and I don't see any recipes for new armor/weapons/tools.
My previous padded armor is tier 4, and I take 70 damage a hit from some of these mobs.
Also, either I'm bad or parry doesn't seem to work?
If you're experienced enough you can just neglect the wisplight and keep the belt for extra carrying weight
But I know 90% of players will struggle in the mistlands with wisplight
If you're struggling in the mistlands, carry some barley wine meads and use the root harnesk set
I had to sail a considerable distance to find a mistlands in my world seed, and the wind was against me for 80% of it.
Keep an eye out for Dvergr towers with Dvergr in them, theres a crate near the top of their towers you'll need to steal. They will become hostile so be careful!
Pierce is the dominant physical damage in the mistlands
mistlands is basically vikings meet starship troopers.
Just adding some extra tip/info, you can go toe to toe with the rongues but if there happens to be 2-3 mages I'd leave them be
But if theres only one mage target first and kill them as fast as possible l, especially if its the healer variant
me sailing to the mistlands, took like 2 day/night cycles, I had to fight off 3 sea serpents. Also had to stop 3 times to repair my longship. I got too close to a swamps shore, got beached on some rocks and an abomination destroyed my ship, had to rebuilt it. Also, the game was basically input reading my sailing directions and made sure the wind was blowing squarely at me, and I even saw the wind direction adjust multiple times against me as I was about to make a turn and get some wind.
