That's the way to go. Naval bombardment, soften them up!
It only effects roughly 2.5m around it, easy enough to put near the smelter anyways
is reto resistant to knockback or something?
You'd mentioned it having a slow rate, but it doesn't as far as I can see, though it's certainly less passive.
I put mine on a little pedestal away from anything breakable, turns out greys like to throw rocks at it though, so I have to repair it now and then...
Interesting, I've massive walls around my base so I can't relate to that 😛
This time I only put my main house behind the moat, secondary buildings are outside but behind walls so monsters don't aggro on them - but the obliterator is still out in the open. Might have to change that...
One more taming question: does the taming time have to be uninterrupted?
If its interupted the progress will pause, when the animal is calm again it resumes 🙂
Not from what I have seen, but when interrupted it seems to take a good damn while before it starts ticking again.
Gods, can we have black metal arrows please - simply equal to needle arrows, just as something to use the metal for...
Awesome thanks guys
Bolts.
Pfft, crossbows are wall decorations.
But I guess I'll be making some ballistae soon
Turret and missiles.
That crossbow has its uses, and if I get my skill high enough to cut that reload time to 2 seconds or less....
Yesterday I wad thonking of armor types that this game could have. A needle armor for plains, made from deathskitos. Its pointy all over, is a light armor, and does some piercing damage around when rolling.
but the plains has already got a light armour
So did black forest and yet here we are.
tbf i feel like the bear armors fall more in line with medium armors
Depends. One could consider light armor those that don't grant any movement speed penalty, when medium armor those that have slight penalty. But then again, mage sets are not quite the "medium" type armor.
yea
the line between med and light sets in valheim is pretty blurred
My reference frame is Ask set being a medium set, and being pretty comparable to the bear sets
Maybe the "true" medium armor would be Root set, considering how tanky the harnesk itself is.
yea i'd agree
Then again there are always some balancing ahead.
I for sure thought the root harnesk was gonna get adjusted down to -33% or -25% in the ptb
but idk
Running around with the bear set in my playthru has made me realize even more just how strong that chestpiece is
I used root chest , rest bear 🙂
troll set getting less love from myself now
how do ppl even fish in the swamp? the leeches makes boatfishing incredibly frustrating
wait what i got iron ore from fishing? not iron scrap, iron ore
Yeah, and how strong it is still in Ashlands. Although I go comfortably with Ask set there. 🤌
am currently breeding an ask set
I admire anyone with the patience/bravery for ask-taming. I feel like their ||eggs|| should be able to made into the highest-tier food, with the amount of work you have to put into it
its not exactly hard
I make a small crater, and I shove two askvins in there using a harpoon
then I shove like 6 purple thing and then I practice sneaking by walking into a wall nearby for half an hour
Then I bring back two eggs that I throw in a big house
and then when the askvins inevitably fills the entire volume of the house, I kill them all
That's been a thing for quite some time, ore looks more beautiful than the scrap!
I am playing single player. Is it bad to log out on a boat? I brought the boat to a stop for the most part...
Dude i swear ppl here find the flatest most fertile meadows possible while the only place i found is an uneven meadows with jagged shape because it wraps around a mountain so the ground just bends toward it
It isnt bad but most likely you will spawn on the boat or near the boat
So you might have to swim for it
That is no problem
I should have eaten my carrot soup before logging out i guess lol
i found draugr village today right next to ocean, it is super flat
try to look for village somewhere
just hauled all my ingots to it, gonna start building it tomorrow 🏗️
new mead idea:
240 proof IPA of clarity,
10% more exp for 5 minutes, you then die afterward
for real tho I remember having an idea for a new type of mead, and there would be one per biome
The idea is that you take it after eating. They equalise all food buff duration and add a few minutes based on the quality of the mead. The mead itself has a cooldown of, I dunno, 15 minutes or something.
i found this really cool island with a huge lagoon surrounded on each side by 5 biomes (Meadows, BF, Swamp, Mountain, Plains) and Yagluth being in the Plains side of it
scouted the swamp, its relatively plenty with sunken crypts as well
gonna make a castle on a small islet facing Yagluth
what even is grausten?
Looks like concrete to me.

Well cant be that, since you get it from large rock formation
Since when is Valheim realistic? Maybe the stone is limestone.
Tried to look up for something, initially I thought graust would have been something in Swedish but that wasn't the case.
everything that happens in Valheim is 100% real
They have never had us really go into how we process build materials out side of metals. We don't have to make lumber yards, we don't have to make extruders, pipe benders, etc... Most of it is just abstractly representative. Which I am fine with. I don't want exacting detail.
Since some creatures and items names mean something in Swedish, like fuling, asksvin and Klossen.
what do... wait... whats a klossen?
oh, one of the candied weapon
right, I forgot about those
imagine if IGS introduces fluid mechanics to the game allowing for water piping and water-wheels for hydropowers
Yeah, the Ashlands jade mace. Kloss is basically brick in English.
I used to be part of an rpg design circle, and one member was obsessed with making a tabletop RPG with realistic fluid mechanics
somehow everything worked using rock paper scissors, though
This group attracted interesting people
Valheim Industrial Age
😄 Think I played that RPG at a convention. Or at least watched.
oh I dont think this guy ever completed anything
I mean using rock, paper scissors.
what if the Deep North requires us to boil water to create steam in order to warm our base much like Ashlands base requiring shield generators
You dont need a shield for ashland :V
i like that energy of yours
We have blast furnaces. Not a stretch.
He probably be here within an hour I think.
Or is it?
well the giant lava blob hopping on it sure doesnt set fire to the rock
speaking of which, how is it that a smelted ingot weighs heavier than the ore it's made from 😭
Yep, those deal big AoE damage tho.
you mean big mining damage
Which is AoE.
seriously, one of the biggest challenge in the ashlands is trying to explore without your inventory filling with all sorts of stones
I also have the psychological need of prioritising harvesting the trees before they burn down
because ashwood is limited (even if theres a truckload of it around)
Very good way to get lots of grausten is to lure lava blob to explode inside those ruins around. They have pieces buried very deep underground, so they explode and pop on ground.
Now with lava blob vials it's even easier to get them to explode where you want.
I get up on those big rocks and have Morgryn tear them apart for me,
Morgen is also one good grausten miner. And Valkyrie.
They are less controllable tho.
Yeah, I just kill Valkyrie,
I usually need their drops more than I need their labor anyways.
Usually hundreds of grausten laying around after good fights as well.
What if we had the ability to update older armor tiers with newer materials?
Yeah, the building mats are very plentiful there. But in case for needing some more quickly demolishing buildings with blobs is fast.
Add black metal to your iron armor to make black iron armor or something
I say that because some set have interesting properties but their defense scores really do not follow with the rest of the game. I think it could be interesting to have, say, an improved version of the troll armor, boosted with some more advanced material like linen or lox pelts
Certainly would be interesting if some older armor could be used as crafting ingredient to some new armor. Some other games do similar thing.
Another reason I say that is because iron armor looks neat.
Hella fine, one could say
The wolf armor looks even better tho. I like your idea and it would be neat to choose 1 armor set you like visually to make it viable. My favorite heavy armor style is the wolf but recently I am only making the light armor sets because I save a lot of resources that way, get other bonuses and less movementspeed penalty or none
silver armor and fenris armor
In the mountains the heavy armor set is called Wolf Armor, the light armor set is called Fenris Armor
Oh wait you are right
That armor is the best looking heavy armor set in the game imo
It actually never occured to me that the helmet was wolf shaped
Kinda like dragon shape because you need a drake trophy to make it but it can also look like a wolf
I should look at it better. I guess
The horns look good
guys wheres the like a channel to play valheim together but not hosting a server?
Saw a troll lose a fight with a couple of draugr and a leech. Seems it couldn't hit the leech in the water, but was distracted so the draugr archer could fire away until the troll fell over. Kinda rooted for the troll there, dangit.
#screenshots message @dreamy quest Either use the axe or switch to other melee weapon from frostner, apart from that you are pretty much set 😄
yeah, i realised that did more damage while fighting her, but i took her down pretty easily anyway
i didnt even use 100 arrows
Moder is an easy boss to fight if you are careful
Yagluth, the Queen and Fader are the most difficult boss fights in the game for sure
Excuse me?
You wanted someone to party with in valheim?
you guessed it, sir, but I would like to talk to someone who understands Russian, because it is very difficult for me to communicate in a language that is not my native language.
What about in Greek language? Your name is in Greek letters
I was just trying to find a company that wasn't on the official server, but I couldn't find it(
These are jokes for
Ok then
yeah she was pretty easy, but harder than the other bosses
The valheim bosses do get progressively harder. For me because I got 1200 hours in this game I find the only hard bosses to be the last 3. The others ones are a walk in the park for me
But still I do not die against them
yeah thsy are pretty easy, bu it might be because i have the game on easy
i only have like 100 hours on my game and have like one proper playthrough
Oh I was talking about normal difficulty. Funny enough I never played on easy so idk how easy they are
Cool! So 1st playthrough and you just killed Moder?
yeah
Nice, I hope I did not spoil much
i have watched alot of valheim toytube videos
Oh so you know everything then
i dont really know about mistlands, but the rest i know pretty well
I see, if you need any help you can dm me. Just let me know in your dm that I told you to dm me because my memory is non existent 😂
queen and fader are hard, all the other bosses are easy tbh imo
Whew. Imagine getting this game to play with your kids, then finding yourself hooked after a few hours and realizing the world is massive and the hours you spent building a horrible little shanty to survive were just the beginning...
Welcome to the world of Valheim
well you can always build bigger and better if you want a house, maybe search up a design or experiment
Oh for sure. That's what brought me here. Just had my mind blown looking at some screenshots and then I realized how pathetic my little camp was 🤣
Cheers
Hi, do you know how to scroll through stats after clicking ''stats'' in console command? I finally got fuling berserker trophy after SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many kills and i want to check how many times i killed this big boi
There's no stats for specific enemies, only a counter for all enemies iirc
Oh ok, got it. Thank you
As Omni said i think, but if you want to scroll then use PageUp and PageDown keys 🙂
if anyone wats to join my server and play together or start fresh lmk in dm
@left lagoon trees are my number 1 cause of death.
Fall dammage on my end for sure, i build a lot
Ya'll need OSHA or something, lol. I think in all the years I've only fallen off a build twice.
Where problem occured most was me forgetting i took off feather cape and casualy jumping off my walls or cliffside my base is facing, usualy with cape it drops me to my pains farm, but without, only to my death
Ah, you got too used to the crutch. 😉
As a no cape person, I never feel inclined to just jump off.
So, you never yeeted yourself from of a catapult?
Why would I?
Its fun
Fun is subjecthive.
I mean, its better than cave diving
no its in fact fun
Confirmation bias does not make things fact.
its not bias, its a fact
Feather cape catapult is fun
I agree with Jensmo
You don't understand how words work, it's ok.
and you're no fun
Again, fun is subjecthive.
You never tryed it yourself
Catapult makes it too easy these days
Back in the day you had to work for the set up to launch your friend with the harpoon, good times
I think i know what you talking about
😭 building a giant runway with a 26 degree roof
Indeed, the caveman version of the catapult
Good times
When is the deep north update?
We dont know 🙂 but almost certainly not this year
are you a robot?
No? Why?
you have replied the same way each time I asked 😭
when its ready
Understood- Will refresh respose quotes next cycle- 🤖
Don't keep asking then? 😄
Same question, same answer 🙂
Same question, same answer, different time 🙂
Indeed, but since we got no new info the answer is still the same 😄
🤞 dev blog this month
Big news BALANCE UPDATE
Oh wait...
😔
On Instagram they said it's coming. 👀
-# can't find it xD
Wait, i just did 😂
Yeah in comments in latest post.
so bear can defeat abom
Indeed it can 😄
whens deep north
We dont know 🙂 But almost certainly not this year
great can we mod it in for now
Folks in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966 may have you covered.
You can mod anything anytime, but world where you explored the DN will then not generate properly
Shallow South when
dirty south
i had such a nice idea in my head for my base but it doesn't work in valheim like i wanted 😭 been stuck on designing floorplan for hour now
I was living out of the meadows for the majority of my recent run through, up until I got to Ashlands. I love taking over a fort and converting it to a base.
my main base is in the mountains
great view
was talking with a friend who's more of a builder than me, and he said to ask him for tips when i start building a ship dock and i said "yeah i will definitely need one for my mountain base"
its hard to build a dock in the mountains, yes
i love yall
Mountain bases my beloved.
Anyone know If the new Update will come out this yr or next yr
yoo i got a quality 5 pufferfish
it was giant and it drains like 70-80 stamina per 1m but i got the line 2m aawy from boat so i can just stand up and pick it up. Still almost lost that catch
the only fish i bother to go get are trollfish because i need them endourance pots
plains have to be the worst biome to ever exist in this game
hard disagree. i hate mistlands but love plains
i havent been to mistlands but holy shit plains are just annoying right now
nonstop lox and deathsquitos spawns, fulling villages have an insane amount of fullings that you cant kill since they just group at you and beat you up
pick off shamans first, kite the horde around and use ooze bombs
for deathsquitos use your ears
the most dangerous fulings are the guys with spears. prioratize them
if deathsquitos are the biggest issue, catch the plains fish and make the anti sting mead. it nullifies deathsquitos entirely
The most dangerous fulings are the shamans. Then the berserkers, then the guys with flaming torches if you are wearing the root harnesk.
shamans yes, kill them first with a bow
i'd still kill spear guys next, torch guys i avoid easily and berserkers are slow and stupid
wait what pot?
berserker attacks are so easy to dodge and parry
i think it's called the anti sting concoction
also coral cod gives onion seed? that is crazy i just got onion seed from coral cod, i can plant onion without even setting foot on mountains
deathsquitos are annoying because as soon as i go for my items they literally spawn in front of me
ah i see. I got root armor so they are just nuisance
fuling hordes die easy to ooze bombs
kite them around and keep them running through the stank cloud
over time they all die
also the poison destroys the shaman shield bubbles really fast for some reason
yea cuz the shield only block 1 instance of dmg, so poison dmg shatters it
DoT dmg like fire or poison is real good against them shield
yeah
if there's a tar pit close to a village, kite them together and they will fight eachother
just don't get hit by the growth. the tar slowdown hurts a lot
yea, but it is better to assist the fulings by fighting the tar when the fight is almost over in favor of Tar. Otherwise you have some huge cleaning up to do and you might get tarred and potentially just died of 2 tar blob stun you over and over again
growths can't be starred can they?
idk
i've never seen blobs or growths with stars
yea they cant star
yeah
just checeked wiki
bruh these tuna just usain bolt toward my fishing bait when i throw it to catch cod
i need to figure out how to spend my seeker meat
i have a full blackmetal chest of seeker meat
obliterator will always be helpful
no no i'm not gonna convert it into coal
i have tons of lox and wolf meat too
in fact i have a blackmetal chest full of blackmetal ingots
are there a hard limit over how many fish i can catch a day? i swear i throw misty bait then cod tried biting it, then i throw heavy bait for cod then puffer fish tried biting it
and now no fish are biting while i can see the pufferfish all around me
you need to go to a different area
no, i can see the quality 5 cod
i am not going anywhere unless it is dark or i catch it
If you are going to mage around then Seeker aspic is good choice for eitr food. Otherwise cooked seeker for Mistlands feast after defeating the boss.
What is the point of a scythe?
Quick harvesting.
so you dont have to spam E while looking at them crop
should i fish at night in the ocean and potentially encounter serpent? yay or nay?
i wish i crafted scythe 100 hours earlier than i did
looks cool
Does a scythe give you more XP when you use it than picking by hand?
dont think so but if you hit enemy with scythe it gives you farming XP im pretty sure 😄
You mean if you kill an enemy or just smack it?
hi 🙂 very new to the game (installing as we speak)
Dangit, I can't decide - Iron Brooch or Nimble Anklet?
same
I was about to say turn around and run while you can, but then I realized I was in the Valheim server and not the OldSchool Runescape server ❤️
Valheim is ❤️
Specifically the scythe gives one use worth of exp per swing no matter how many things you harvest. At least according to what I read on the wiki.
Speaking of food. One thing that bothers me a lot is how much of an imbalance there is with the endgame food supply. I use about one flying turkey meat per set of food buffs, but also one flying turkey egg. I get way fewer eggs than meats.
lol thank you for that 🤣
Glad to hear it's a good game
I'm very new to pc gaming in general so we'll see where I end up
Ive been neglecting the game 😭 Me and my girlfriend even have a dedicated server running but life... :>
Valheim is a great game and I love it and it lives rent free in my head. However it has its share of frustrations so be ready for those. Also it took me a long time to see the appeal behind it.
frustrations... do share 🙂
This game doesnt pull punches, and seems unfair at times. You reach a new area only for some seemingly mundane enemy to instantly explode you in blood because you had the misfortune of meeding a starred version of that monster.
dude how do i demolish the feasts on the table?
Use the platter
serving tray, sorry
i have eaten the feasts totally, but the platter is still stuck on the table
use the serving tray
Like it was a hammer - deconstruct button.
also it can be a grindy game, but its the kind of grind that can be alleviated using proper strategies
oh ok thx
yknow seeing the feasts on the table really gives the vibe of "when the fajitas come out sizzling"
Also the kind of grind that can be meditative, I don't mind it at all in Valheim, I have something to do all the time I'm doing it.
also how do ppl actually fish in the swamp? there are so few fish and mostly it is just leeches coming to bite my bote
Pretty certain most ppl just get the fish they need and move on, it's not a place where you fish a lot over time to get fish for food, there are better places for that.
sometime its just long tho
I dont think sneaking next to a boar box for hours is a meaningful gaming experience
That's not something I have ever done in all my hours of Valheim. Taming can be annoying though, I especially when whatever you're taming gets startled by greylings or whatever. That new potion is a godsend
after I read what sneaking does at higher levels, I decided to give it a try
right now my sneak level is about 55, and it took a while to do so
To be fair, intentionally grinding something monotonous for hours on end to lvl a certain skill is not on the game.
and the tower with a stuck skelett got trolled by a troll so now I lost my sneaking practice spot
I feel like theres something wrong with what you just said but I cannot quite explain it
I think my sneak skill is somewhere in the 30s, I sneak a lot my first time in Mistlands, less seeker ambushes that way
Just use a lox, they have the awareness of a carrot
Pretty sure some carrots are wiser
Its just that it takes so much time to level up sneaking while it giving so little in term of return.
What I'm trying to say is that for the average player who doesn't read wikis, reddits etc, grinding skills will never be an issue. If you want to raise a skill so much that you grind it on purpose, whatever boredom sets in is mostly on you. That's true in any game where you dedicate to a certain grind, for whatever reason. I did certain dungeons and raids in WoW a stupid amount of times to get certain rare drops. I absolutely HATED a certain boss after that, but I can't blame the game for it...
You know why I didnt bother with skills the first time I played? I assumed they did nothing.
Now, some skills in Valheim do level up absurdly slowly, it is hopefully something the devs will take a look at when it's time for the Great 1.0 Polish and Balance Event.
I sure hope so. I think one dev mentionned that it was something they had in mind.
Maybe im just being schizo and I only think I saw one of them say that.
What do you guys think about melting stuff? Isnt it pretty stupid to add things one by one into the smelters and them just falling on the ground? I tried automation mod and vanilla valheim might feel unplayable now
Getting to 100 is the completionist achievement, it should never be the "Softcap" goal, once people keep hitting 100 so fast, they'll want to earn 110 or 120. It's just how the game is intended/designed. But I think woodcutting and mining should level up even slower than they do now (IMO)
I see no problem with current state of smelting really
So, you're saving time but you're losing a drastic amount of XP
Keep in mind taht skills are just a nice "on top" addition 🙂
I can agree with that. I think the issue is how each skill gives you xp. Since all skills level up from the same pattern - a certain amount of xp each level, ever growing - some skills simply don't give as much xp from using them like others, especially if the skill is something you perform a lot less when playing the game normally - such as sneaking for example. It is only natural that the skills you use most are the ones that grow faster, but some skills grow much slower even when you use them a lot, which must be down to how they award xp. Cooking is one such skill - this current character I have gone out of my way to cook absurdly much, way way more than I need to - got chests full of food - in order to lvl cooking a bit more. Still not even 30 on day 700...
I think we should ATLEAST be able to place 20 coal at on click, or maybe a 3-4 second animation, as if pouring materials from something I dont know.
I think you might wanna play Factorio or something for that niche automation feeling
some of them are more than just "nice"
Some give you more benefits than other, i am not arguing that 😄 but in the end you can play the whole game with all levels on 0 and still be able to play just fine
nahh, Im not asking for that much...
Yeah well I dont think its fun that it takes hours to raise certain skills
You can always put suggestions in #suggestions 😄
When I noticed at what rate the dodge skill increased, I immediately decided that it basically didnt exist
Holy wow. Day 700! 😮 I do love a grind haha..... but daaaamn. I actually really enjoy sneaking quite often in the game and I can get it to at least 20 within the first few days of the game. Most folks that I see that post stuff don't even touch sneaking, however it's one of my favorite playstyles to be a rogue or a rogue type player
When it boils down to it, the skills are a way for the game to let your character get better at what he does a lot, and in that regard they work perfectly fine. Some might need a bit of xp tweaking - imo cooking and sneaking could be two examples - but it is not a major thing.
caught me a quality 4 giant herring
imma gonna fish until i get 30 iron ores
guess how many i got and how many bait did it take thus far
I hate dying, I mean I really really hate it - so I do my damndest not to die. Fresh into Mistlands now, still very squishy, so I have been sneaking a lot. Don't wanna sound the dinner bell if I don't have to...
Also those pesky hares are easier to shoot if they're not darting around all the time
I've only died on Valheim 3 times accidentally and twice on purpose out of like 800 or so hours lol.... Once from a tree (Classic, memorable, I'll never forget it.), Once to a troll that baited me into another troll. Smoke damage from being afk. The other 2 times, I was spawning things and testing. Now in modded Valheim (I've got like 2-3 deaths, but it's ultra hardcore mode)
Haven't been counting deaths, but on this run I haven't died yet, and on my Ashlands world my only deaths so far came from falling off my tower build. Teach me to build skyscrapers before I get the feather cape!
Will we have to start over again when Deep North biome comes out or you're good if you haven't ventured into it yet?
Probably good if you don't go there. But who can say for 100% sure - some things may be added at some point that make you want to restart.
anyone knoww how to unstuck a longboat beached onto a swamp shallow ground with a lot of iron on it?
asking for myself
A hoe.
man i really need to get that northern salmon for the fishing hat
like either i get the fish and craft the hat but it permanently generated and not going to be part of new deep north, or i dont
Use the hoe from as deep an area as you can. Should make it deep enough for you to move your boat.
okay so after 10min of playing I must admit the game could use some basic advice from the start. how to craft stuff, how to make clothes. or is that just me?
i agree it’s a little confusing at first but when you get it down you get it down
It gives you recipes as you pick things up or craft other specific things. I do agree it could use some work on getting you started on using the system.
usually what you wanna do is hunt boar and deer first
careful with the boars they hurt early game
They do. Especially if you anger 4 at the same time and you are still naked.
If you get bow XP from a landed shot, does wearing bow skill bonus armor make you level the skill up faster, as it lets you have a quicker draw time?
Hi everyone!
I’ve been wanting to test out mods on the deck, but have not found a good guide on how to install r2modman correctly onto the deck.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thank you.
Didn’t see the discussion thread at the very bottom of discord.
Did ghost spawn rates and bear head drop rates get increased on a hotfix?
Had rediculous good luck on this playthrough. Could just be RNG though
I did notice some small update download the other way, which could be anything, but maybe they dont even necessarily give us patch notes just for a small update
2 hours of building and it ended up looking so ugly i teared it all down 😭
Do you all ever get discouraged, knowing that instance count will eventually catch up to you if you gradually build more and more in an area? Like, even if it doesn't actually get to that point - just knowing that it would if you kept going.
whats instance count and what does it do?
It's the amount of objects currently loaded, it increases a lot as you expand your base and more instances will make the game run slower
Oh. I recently got a big cpu so I guess im good on my end.
You have to hit about 30,000 instances.
Oh you want the power point version of Valheim? 😄
Why do I feel like this would be several terabytes if not larger lol
One thing I've never been clear on about that. Do the instances have to be in just render range?
Eeeeh, not really, its just how many individual things the game has to load at once 😄
I do believe they have to be in render range, and you have to be looking in their direction.
If you get bow XP from a landed shot, does wearing bow skill bonus armor make you level the skill up faster, as it lets you have a quicker draw time?
Technically yes.
So spreading out my base structures does help.
Only about 2/3 of it renders.
It should help, yeah 😄
swear to god idk what specific conditions do i need to fish giant herring but the hook rate is abysmally low
i can hook 10-20 groupers easily but it is a blessing to even hook 10 giant herring. And i dont even want to fish for it i just want the iron ores
what do giant herring give?
oh so are you just collecting ore?
yea, partially
other reasons is i crafted too many sticky baits and i gotta spend em all
besides them fish gives out decent amount of fish part
More than red herrings do 😏
can i ping smiffe and politely ask him to buff the hook rate for giant herring cuz i am getting bored at this point
i fished for 5 days straight and only burned through 25 bait
Sounds like you need to find larger schools of them. For some reason the Trolls fish have the most numerous large schools, with puffer being close.
oh yea trollfish tends to be like that. But there are just not that many big clump of giant herring
and they aren't interested in biting unless i keep the boat moving which risks beaching it on the swamp
them leeches keep circling my boat
Best place I ever caught them was from a Leviathon that spawned close enough to swamp I swam to it. Caught a wide variety of fish from it. Often without a pole thanks to storms washing them up on the lev.
i only need 4 more iron ore
im going to log in your world and steal all the iron
i would break all foundation of your house but one so you can watch it slowly dismantle itself
its resting on the floor and if you dig deeper you'll melt
nothing i cant dig
I mean literally, its a mechanic where I built the house
i saw a serpent in ocean while it is not raining and it was daytime
idk why it still spawn
The storm spawned serpents dont despawn, so you might have sailed around there during rain and it just stayed there 🙂
huh
eat the serpent
vile trophy is a pain in the ass man
Quick question, will I need to start a world when The Deep North comes out?
Is it on current maps already?
An unfinished version yea, it lies in the very very north of the map
i see, thanks
Also another note, I think it's unclear whether or not achievements (that will be released in 1.0/deep north update) will be retroactive or not
So if you care about achievements and going through a playthrough and not being rewarded with them
I will be shocked if they can do them retroactively.
i dont know any games that have done them retroactively
Hey new here I didn't see any rules about not asking for someone to play with. If im in the wrong spot let me know. I've never gotten through the planes. Would really like someone to do a from start to finish world with me. Im on xbox
yea same, just mentioned cause I saw smiffe talking about achievements being retroactive vs not a few months ago I think
I personally hope they won't be
I don’t suppose there is a vigvisir type device for locating merchants?
nah not atm
Do they have reliable spawning rules other than what biome?
For instance can I find the bog witch closer to the center of of the map or farther?
Bog which usually spawns about the half way point for me I've found her frequently just a little further out than where hildir spawns for me
each trader has several (I believe, ten?) possible locations where they can spawn, and once you find their first spawn location they settle for good and all the other locations are thrown away. Since they all have specific areas in which they can spawn, the "closer to center" is generally relative, since they'll always be a minimum distance away from the center.
If you check any seed on the Valheim world generator site you can see how each trader can potentially spawn very far away from the center, but that's very unlikely, since you're almost certain to find one of the other, closer locations before reaching the farthest one.
If you check the wiki you'll see Haldor won't spawn closer than 1500 meters from the center, and the Bog Witch and Hildir won't spawn closer than 3000 meters from center.
Valheim the movie when?
why cant i build wood walls or floors, theyre just not in my build menu
Me and my friend just finished killing Moder and celebrating the SECOND we arrive at our house thru the portal "the horde is attacking" i (being the server owner) put myself in debug mode and spammed K because we really weren't ready for tons and tons of Fulings
Did you get the ingredients for it?
the horde is attacking is an insane raid
Hey does anyone with the board game know where the dice Tower base connects to? Thank you
what about the bros haha even worse
ye bros is prolly the hardest raid
does serpent trophy sinks with the scale?
Yep
I typically just lure the serpents to a beach. If I’m feeling froggy, I’ll try and time a kill as I’m falling onto the serpent to nab the trophy before it sinks.
I got a question can xbox players join the servers? And can they join the modded ones or no ?
Im new so idk much
i think there's like bronze scraps or ore from the ashlands fortresses 👀
i just got 1 more iron ore from the last fishing bait. My OCD wont let me end with just 1 single iron ore
guess how many giant herring i fished to get 31 iron ores?
67
85? Almost as high as my swim skill 😁
and with how annoying it is to fish there with all the leeches biting the boat, blob that jumps into my boat ( yes that happened), draugr casually forgetting they cant swim and they just run deep underwater and shoot my boat with the bow
so yea not the most comfortable fishing experience in the swamp
but gotta get em iron ores
honestly the feasts are the bomb, i should have made them long ago
i need to try feasts this save
You should
Actually maybe shouldnt unless you are willing to take the game slow, and i mean real slow
The resource gathering process for the first few feasts requires a lot of thristle
And i mean a lot of thristle, it is almost worth its weight in gold already
Feasts are awesome, once you get to the higher tier ones you barely need anything else except if you're going on really long journeys and have no portals. The combo of a high stats total and double duration is pretty neat.
The have lower stats in trade for the longer duration.
🤔 maybe for one specific stat but as all-rounders the mist and ash feasts are insane
When you first get them in the Swamp, FFF is better, yes.
Mountain is when it begins falling behind.
Plains increases the gap.
Mistlands/Ashlands the feast is "great" only if you're a mage. Otherwise it is "decent, but not better."
I like HFS nowadays in Mistlands/Ashlands.
how effective are bile bombs in ashlands? i figure that fire won't do much and many of the enemies are poison immune
Less effective than you might want them to be.
Staff of fireball or Demolisher are you better AoE options.
demolisher it is bc i'm not gonna be running magic
Demo creates space really well.
AoE damage is probably best with the new battleaxe.
btw does the primal weapons' immobilization work on bosses?
Bizarrely... yes.
i would be mad if it didn't
does the immobilization only prevent them moving or is it like a full paralysis where they can't do anything
'cause if they can't attack after being immobalized then the primal berserk axes would be a nearly constant stunlock
I am mad that is does.
Bosses are bosses. By their nature they should be immune to CC.
-# Like how they are immune to stagger...
maybe it will get changed but for the moment they can be stunlocked by primal weapons
They can't turn. So any attack that needs them to face you is disabled by you just moving to the side.
How do i equip a tag
It will not get changed, lol.
well i think that sells me on killing fader with primal berserkers
Unless they have secretly been planning a massive overhaul for 1.0, "balance" is not on the dev's list of things to care about.
i think i have to transition away from polearms then
the ashlands boss will happily fuck you up while "immobilized" but is an exception
Hildir's Brass Chest is a displayable item ha!!! Cooooool Good thing I never turned mine in hehe
thats soooo cool looking next to a good old pile of gold
hello anybody wanna play? i just bought the game and need a helpfull companion
You might want to check https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 👍
last session mined all the ancient armor and swords from the southern half of my mistlands area
- got 2 skulls
box full of copper and iron
thanks
will the deep north have shorter days or no sunlight at all? i live north of the arctic circle irl and our day length is rapidly decreasing until we get no sun in winter
idk if they will be shorter, but the sun barely rises over the horizon in the far north of the map.
that is actually already in the game.
yeah ik that bit, but they may change it in 1.0
Question regarding forcedelete.
it does delete for example, boars. but does it reset after opening the server again?
no
it removes something forever
Nope they don't. Just like the branches and mushrooms in my base don't come back!
Damn. Those necks and boars keeps spawning even after force deleting
You will have to remove the spawnpoints of those creatures to be certain they won't reappear.
However I don't know if it's possible with the force-delete command and I don't know what the internal ID of those spawn points are if it's possible to force-delete them.
The easiest way out is to hide a campfire somewhere in the area
Doesnt delete the spawn, but prevents it
does it need to be lit?
Nope.
You can also use the "torch in a pole" trick to get the same effect.
yup
i prefer unlit campfires because they are fairly flush with the ground and disappear in my maxed out grass settings.
however torch in a pole can work really well in a forest.
Campfire is also not primary target by enemy mobs, like workbenches.
Is music from this months episode new ?
It's swamp theme.
Basically nothing from this month's episode is new
after she speaks i remembered the theme but start of it probably never heard of it.
That upper roof looks pretty steep, new build pieces?
Yeah it appears that way 🤘
does raining counts as dark ? I am in the ocean and it is raining but not storming. Will i see serpent?
oh yea i found serpent alright
Is there anyone who would want to play valheim with me? Im 15 from Finland and I have completed the game once. Im hoping to find somone that has played this game before or maybe completed it also.
I can sure
Have u played valheim how much
Sorry but im trying to find someone with a bit more experience
Try looking out in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
just to add to your knowledge: serpents spawning during storms and serpents spawning during the night are treated as different mobs to a certain extent, which in turn means that going out during a stormy night gives you way more chances to encounter a serpent, if you're really looking for one (though night serpents despawn at dawn, so be careful)
just storm? like raining doesn't cut it?
i killed 2 serpent in just a rainy weather, the waves were calm
Iirc rain should do it too, not just storm.
uh, I meant any kind of rain
"storm" was more of a broad term to indicate rain, but I understand why it might have made it confusing
aight
calm rainy seas are best for fishy snake hunting
we need 2* serps that spit fireballs
no we dont
Bonemaws spit fireballs.
the serpents' appearance makes me think they have some kind of electric power instead, since they have those neon-blue lights on them
and electricity out in the sea is far more dangerous than fireballs, which would justify the terror they spread among all wildlife in the open sea
hmm. point. Call down lightning on the boat
im so glad i could finally afford this game!
I got the deep sea angler fish with the light things on them vibe from that
They only surface when it’s dark and/or stormy so I imagine they usually spend their time in the depths of the ocean
I think lots of people asked that before, but im gonna ask still.
What causes sounds to become garbled in the ashlands?
I would assume too many sound sources at once, happens in many games. Unity limitation maybe? Then there's the slight distortion of sounds in the Mistlands mists, that one is entirely intentional and has scared me witless more than once. <Hears a guttural roar> HOLY FECK WTF IS THAT? <out of the mist comes a greydwarf shaman>
phew! almost picked the I am a bot role while joining
is it because you are a bot trying to pass for a people?
"Hello, fellow humans!"
Oh yeah, the mistland sound effects are fun
That's a great question! [discord username here]. No I am a real person
is what I would say if I was an LLM
fulings goes from "kekeke" to "HEURG HEURG HEURG"
Here is an update from a tester: #steam-bugs-discussion message
I haven't seen anyone link the upstream issue on Unity's tracker yet, so I don't know which Unity versions this fix lands in
alright, figured it was something like that
I suppose it will be fixed eventually
Im glad its nothing serious. For a moment I thought my game files were getting corrupted
How do I get leather
Leather Scraps is from Boar.
Thank you so much devs for not abandoning this game like 90% of the other early access projects
You did not "run with the money", you stayed and you are giving us a complete and beautiful experience, thank you so much
Building a fortress in the mountain in under twenty minutes, coordinating with my five best friends, was one of the best gaming moments of my WHOLE LIFE, and I say this with all sincerity, even as a 27 year old guy that plays basically anything, even as a former starcraft 2 grandmaster
awwwwww wholesome! 💜
Wholesomeness? In Discord? BAN HIM.

Man sometimes I'm like "this thing helped me through hard times" and some mods are like "HARD TIMES??? TRAUMA DUMP IN GENERAL??? BAN"
As a person who moderates other servers, I would say it depends on how detailed you get? 🤔
Like just saying "hey this helped" = good, fine, welcome comment.
Going into specifics about your situation can be an overshare and cause for comment deletion though. 😬
Sup heathens
Whait a minute
I generally let those comments be, as long as it doesn't look like anyone's bothered by it
Why do deer trophies have antlers?
er
trauma dumping is not good to do in general channels or server chats or whatever lol
idk how that came up but yeah
Deer dont have antlers
some of them do
Starred ones do.
And trophies arent starred
Cuz 2 * deer are usually bucks and they auto drop trophies (dont quote me this is just what I think)
The devs probably thought it looks nicer for the trophy
Even 1* have antlers
But
I agree #valheim-help
regular deer don't have antlers but they drop trophies sometimes that do have antlers
0 star deer dont have antlers
I never thought about that lmao
They didnt wanna make 2 trophies for bucks and doe
Dude you stagger people by blocking RANGED ATTACKS. Don't ask for logic. 😂
They just made 1 trophy for both and liked the way antlers looked
isn't valheim in an afterlife world?
Yes and no
Norse purgatory is the easiest descriptor.
I thought it was like a purgatory where you get tested before officially going into valhalla
that was the word I was looking for
And if you lose your mind or motivation you become a draugr
oooo
Not so much "everyone goes here to get tested."
Moreso a forgotten semi-prison realm that you're here specifically because the gang leaders are breaking the world tree and messing with the other realms.
gang le-- wait what?
I'm stupid and despite loving implicit lore I never stopped to read all the stone tablets XD
I know people are speculating that the last boss will be a form of Loki
Forsaken.
I haven't played beyond beginner mistland yet
Read the opening scrawl when you start the game?
wait... I dont think Loki was an antagonist in norse lore
He was a trickster, and probably annoying, but not an outright villain
To mortals, yes
To other gods, just edgy
I forget a ton of stuff, need to read it again
But in-game you have dreams of seeing a child, and the bosses have the same dream, Fader says he got scared when seeing them because they knew their true nature
I don't remember the whole reddit post letter by letter but my theory is we will see a child which will then turn into Loki who will be at least a two-phase boss
children in video games scare me
children~~ in video games~~ scare me
Nah I love kids when they're not outright malicious
But in media they're usually monsters in disguise or something XD
I'm ok with them if they're quiet and not staring at me
Or sacrificed for shock factor
....jesus
Yeah I can't stand that, it's so cheap
That's why I never watched Game of Thrones
The whole premise of the show is a violent fantasy telenovela
I’m addicted
how concerningly vague
I forgot this isn't the general channel, sorry XD
Going back to Valheim, what are your favorite moments? I love to hear stories
Me dying to 4 boars attacking me at once and returning to masacre them and all the onlookers
I've been covering my friend's bed with every fish I catch
HAHAHAHAHA
How to make a fishing pole
First death is to a tree
The cannot be made.
Bye it at haldor
my home internet was out for 9 days and just before that I had been trying to give him a fish that he hadn't picked up before
he wouldn't pick it up so I gave up and placed it on his bed
and then internet went out
...
finally got internet back yesterday, had a full bed of fish waiting for him ...
he still refused to take them, said "I am choosing to interpret this as a fish printed blanket" and found the one pixel to still sleep in his bed along with the pile of fish. despite it making him vibrate
I've been playing for four years and that still happens
That's very funny
why didn't anyone tell me that krom + demolisher heavy loadout is a banger
Yes it is
squints
Krom.
I am convinced Krom is the norse equivalent of Chad.
grinded the skill with the wooden sword before, but not even at 50 skill doing 700+ damage to parried enemies
epic embed fail
we don't have embed permissions
the channel where we do have perms have like a 1 hour cooldown
What's embed
embed dees nuts
Ah
You got eitr yet?
black metal chests
already using them
yes
oh right blackmetal missiles
yeah good use. for bolts i use carapace for the material
i have a blackmetal chest full of blackmetal and extra that don't fit
showoff :woah:
half a box of iron + row of unsmelted iron and row of refined eitr
If you're in Mistlands and like to use crossbow, you can craft lots of blackmetal bolts.
already using carapace bolts
why are swamps so hard 😭
Or even blackmetal missiles for the ballista.
it'll keep happening, just keep the missles going.
i will use BM for missiles tho
i hate traversing in swamps cuz when its night youre just dead
honestly swamps in my current run never really gave me trouble
Going during night time is usually not the best idea.
mountains at night are way worse than swamp at night
i know and thats why its bad, you only get like 10 minutes before it turns dark
and i cant find a damn crypt
There is 21 minutes day and 9 minutes night cycle.
oh well same thing
You might want to find other swamp if you are not finding crypts in the current one.
Purely rng where the seed decide their locations on map.
but i have a MASSIVE swamp close to my current base but i cant explore it further since there is a plains blocking the other part
and when me and my friend tried traversing the plains, lets just say that wasnt a great idea
Hmm yeah they can have some plains nearby, as those both biomes start appearing in about same distance from the center.
do i look up the seeds for my world or go on another 2 hour boat trip to find another swamp?
If you want to look up a bit of your current world you can copy paste the seed in the world generator website and filter it showing only the swamp crypts.
how do i only view one thing?
You can show the map with the fog of war on and only look up the crypts if you don't want to spoil too much.
Put filters before you press it to generate the seed.
the crypts doesnt show, there is only a big fog
wait it works now, but how can i check coordinates in my valheim world?
You cannot without console commands.

oh alright, well thanks for the help man
the glowy mushrooms are the most underrated food
fr
Woooh cooking just dinged 30
Milestone!
I must say that log-roof in the featured build was awesome btw
Swamp is where the game gets real
the balckforest to swamp transition is hell
is iron bow the best bow u can get by the swamp area?
The iron bow is called a Huntsman Bow and it's the Swamp-Tier bow, yes
i want that one bow u get with silver can't wait
I usually skip it, personally, although I heard it's extremely powerful due to it not alerting multiple enemies when hitting targets
I found Black Forest -> Swamp to be the second hardest transition after Mistlands -> Ashlands
personally never made it to that stage but if its any harder than black forest -> swamp, im imagining it to be pretty hard
so happy i got the extra 150 weight belt early on at beginning of swamp
Don't worry, everything after Black Forest -> Swamp is pretty chill
ive never found a trader
Iron gear is really powerful and the following biomes aren't as oppressive as the Swamp
idk if my luck is bad or if im doing something wrong
isnt ashlands like the last stage
As of now, yes
how many traders are on world map for than 1 right?
There are 3 traders, each with 10 spawn points. The first spawn point loaded is where the trader will stay permanently.
how close do youi have to be for it to load?
are the roadmaps legit?
I don't know
it's further than the map discovery range
After enough time has passed.
One starts to enjoy the ambience of The Swamp.
swamp is living hell
Clear out the spawn nodes. Skeletons. Draugers.
It gets quite enjoyable for a few in day games.
Level the ground as you progress so there are no more suprises.
I like it.
Hi guys
I bought the game and have only 2 hours
I could give it back an get my money, but is it too early or what should i do
All matters of "should" are your personal choice and there is no wrong answer.
i think the reason i hate swamps is beacause of the horrid swamp seed i got nerfed with 💔
I'd feel bad for you for missing out on a great time, but if you didn't like it I don't see why you should keep it. I'll just say this, though: 2 hours is far too little to appreciate the game
Valheim isn't for everyone. I'd love it if just one more of my friends or family loved it nearly as much as I do, but nope. Totally lucked out on the ones I do have being my wife.
most of my friends enjoy it. but you can tell everybody loves it in different ways
the only way to hate valheim is to never have played it
for me it wouldve been if i didnt have anyone to play it with aswell, multiplayer valheim is so good
I do have friends who like it. A lot. I'm just a bit obsessive about it.
oh yes thats true i couldnt imagine playing solo valheim
Solo does appear to take a certain kind of mind set to enjoy it. Which I get, I do prefer playing with my wife and/or friends, but I easily have over 1,000 hours solo as well.
the reason i dont think i whould enjoy solo is beacause i whouldnt get to share my accomplishments with anyone, therefore they feel useless
yeah, ive not been able to really enjoy many solo games, theyre just not that fun to me
yeah exactly this
I don't care about that. I do it for me. Even then, I do get to share whatever interesting thing that happened or I discovered with my wife. So I do get to do what little of it I want to.
thats a mindset i whould love to have
Hello
Yeah, by now I have likely defeated Bonemass a couple of hundred times. How many times is that an "accomplishment"? Whether I do it solo or with my wife, or a friend group? Its easy for me, now.
I’ve just started myself and I’m very lost haha
Got myself a bench and a fire and the rags on my back
You have come to a great place for guidance. You care about spoilers?
did you beat the first boss?
No not yet
OK, well, as you have seen you get new recipes for stuff primarily by picking up things,
In some instances, you need to craft things to get more recipes.
So primarily you need to explore to discover new things to make and eat.
well you get the location at your spawn, not sure if u clicked that but its something the game gives you right away
Yes I’ve seen the icon but thought I’d die if I got too close
No, you summon the boss.
So you can check it out to your hearts content.
So another thing to be sure of is all the tabs you have on your hammer menu, and craft tables,
takes so long to smelt bars solo lol
Fr
this is why sleeping is the best thing in the game
I can’t sleep rn as I’ve only got space under the little roof I made for my bench
Even in group I often smelt by myself. We don't always play only at the same time.
None of my friends have it so I thought I’d try my hand solo
id setup a little house somewhere, its always nice to have
I have the problem where my Friends are busy killing eachother while im stuck doing that
You can join groups via #1024264966712340510
Unless you're not solo
Then you have to wait until that one friend finishes chasing the elusive greyling attacking one of your walls in order to sleep
Real shit
im loving that queens jam and jerky
Thats why you make your base big enough your bed isn't close to outer walls. Sleep whenever your ready to.
my friend is usually busy throwing trash on the floor of our house while our storage is literally next to him
It doesn't matter
He'll hear something hitting the wall 50m away and decide to go kill it
Greylings will always find a way
Oh, so he is the problem. 😄
I'd be terrified to see his real home. 😄
Yeah it was in one of my previous playthroughs which ended at the mistlands because the entire squad except me just went "Permanent mist with no convenient way to dispel it? Nope, cba."
The greylings were better companions
The war of having auto pickup off
we probably have 3 hoes on the floor around the base 💔
🥀
Valheim is such a frustrating and rewarding game
just dont die in the mistlands with no extra wisps
best armnour before iron for def on ranked arrows
Amen to that
First thing I do, now, is make 3 of them. I did learn that the hard way. 😄 😄
Why bring extra wisps when I already know my destination and have 200+ stamina?
yeah. i have extra silver now just incase, but my first time in the mistlands was miserable because of thhis
Pure speed
Running completely naked through the game's current 2nd hardest biome without a care in the world until you reach your gravestone is too badass to pass up
landed in the long ship, gjall finds us and kills us, then i take the worse ship, same thing, and then the waves sunk my raft
So you don't have a portal close to where you landed? IE next island over kind of close?
nono, we built a portal where we landed, then it found us and broke it
there was no other biome nearby from what i remember, or atleast we didnt find it
Yeah, I've had these kind of "landings" happen to me enough times I now make a point of finding a near by "safe biome" island on which to place a portal as a just in case.
i try to do that as much as possible, but now that im more experienced with the mistlands anyways its not that scary
Yeah, but its Valheim. Crap happens.
under a root or ancient helmet thing works for a portal
They do, usually. Almost always.
I rediscovered ashland food. Game is suddently easier now.
by the way, did they fix some of the lag in the ashlands since release?
Amazing how those few additional points seem to make so much difference.
havent been there for a year or so but im about to get there in another world, is it still laggy?
Some say yes, some say no. So it slikely going to depend on your system.
Its fine for me.
Mountain snow still gives me more issues.
well ive upgraded from what i had last year, so i think ill be fine then
really? ive never had that
Yeah, the white out snow storms get laggy. Not as bad as it used to, but still very noticable,
maybe ill find some optimisation mod if i have to
I probably just need to turn down a setting or two while I am in the mountains. I do have a pretty good system.
Yoooo finally steeper roofs are coming
Kinda crazy if they’re only available from start of endgame tho
It is a progression based game. Not the first time I have seen progression decisions that I have questioned,
Progression to… steeper roofs? Should 45° be limited to Iron Age ?
I really think it should be easier to get more building things earlirr
Tar is reasonable
I always have to renovate my damn house
And maxed swamp gear you can risk going into plains for tar especially with root armor
eh, for me the building progression is fine, i just dont like that mountains basically have nothing
Windows which don’t really work too well as windows
Like I have said, I have seen progression decisions I have questioned. Many times. Often with building materials and designs.
and i guess red jute stuff but thats about it
I was hoping for marbles then, so I agree.
mountains definitely leans into the weapons and armor side of things more
silver should have a use
🪞
Yeah, silver backed mirrors.
When I do a modded run, the first thing I'm doing is adding more decoration/building stuff
What’s a good one that keeps buildings looking valheimy
I am guessing when I finally do mods, I will be using dozens of them.
I'm not that good st building but I do like valheims building system and trying to get more into it
There’s a good one that allows you to rotate build pieces omnidirectionally
I have not looked yet, my friend is doing his first run of the game and we're only adding them after
Yeh, I am not allowing myself to use mods until after 1.0. I know once I start, I won't stop.
I don't have the patience for that, but I will be doing the update in vanilla first
Will either just back the world up before modding or start a new world for modded
I don't have the discipline to stop, so.... 😄
Yeah that's fair lmao
I fight with myself on just sticking to defaults on new play throughs, instead of changing some of the world modifiers, I'm weak.
Well to be fair just making yourself wait until 1.0 is pretty disciplined
The world modifiers are vanilla aren't they?
Its like tasting somethng really good. If you taste it, its far harder to say no to another bite, than it is to not take a bite at all.
D
I made the mistake of using cheats and commands on my first world. I ruined my progression rate and jumped to the endgame without appreciating the mid game. Needless to say, I stopped playing for a while because it got too boring.
I wonder if the full release version will give you the option to disable cheats
Oh yikes, that sucks. I did use them too, but for when I got basically softlocked in mistlands, having not even a raft to get back
There will be achievements, so yes.
Didn't spoil myself thankfully
I am finally getting back into the game after a few months, with a world that I am setting stricter rules on. (I still use portal all as I don't have the time to boat all of my ores).
How much space do you feel is "just right" for a bronze age base? I've had cramped ones and I've had ones so big they felt empty before, curious if someone has some rules of thumb they follow
I build my base to hold everything up through Ashlands, so its definitely not small.
I built a big one and just decorate it overtime, rather that than having 0 space
Anyone know if Comfy Valheim server is still active?
I build, find a better spot, tear down, build, run out of space, tear down, find another good spot, build...
I get that feeling, I see so many places I'd want to build, but hauling ores across half the map is not something I'm gonna do
Guess that's where portal all comes in handy, but I'm waiting till I unlock that in ashlands
I tend to just move instead of hauling stuff. Get all I want from an area, then just bring the basics to set up crafting stations etc somewhere else (where the next biome is more plentiful) and start building there
Yeah, there are a lot of places I'd like to build, which is the benefit of playing solo. I have the time to do so, if I really want to.
one more trip of bronze should be ready for iron farming
really hard to go back to vanilla after modding i would imagine like in other games
i always play every game first playthrought vanilla and then later do modded runs and basically never play vanilla again
I feel absolutely no need to mod Valheim, but if and when it gets official mod support (i.e. a Steam Workshop) I'll look into increasing render and object draw distance a bit unless they tweak that in vanilla.
Exactly how I do it too. With Valheim, I did two play throughs vanilla. Since then I prefer to be able to port with metals. Really the only thing I mod but I will on occasion fly to a corpse run if I just don’t have it in me to go retrieve it the traditional way lol
i'll definitely get some QoL mods and some mods that make the game more immersive at some point
I like wardislove, comfyquickslots, and the refined X mods. I think there should be no portal restrictions but portals should require infrastructure to function, and a cast time to place.
Grid planting is my go to QoL
is abomination only thing that drops root?
I can't think of anything else that does.
definitely getting it when i start modded playthrough, thanks

Wohoo, finally got a Vile trophy!
I've been grinding every night for a while now.
Hey everyone!
Looking for regular, reliable players to join me in my world.
I’d love for the group to meet up roughly once a week for a few hours at a scheduled time that works for everyone. It’s not mandatory, but the idea is to form a small, active community that plays and progresses together.
I’m mainly looking for active, cooperative players who want to be part of something long-term. Whether you’re a builder, explorer, or just like hanging out and helping the group thrive, you’re welcome here.
Currently we are as far as the swamps and mountains (but have not defeated either boss), so we have iron and stone and will likely be staying here for a while to prioritize main base building, resource gathering, and exploring. I have weeks in this server, and probably 150 hours. I have included some photos of our base so far.
Looking forward to adventuring together 🛶🔥

just saw that, thank you
any time
Did they change the amount of damage enemies do with the last patch?
You're the second person to say that today, i'm gonna look into this myself now
What difficulty settings are you on, and what armor are you using
Normal difficulty, have full iron armour fully upgraded with iron weapons and wolf back. Wolves kick my butt in mountains.
If your going at night, that can be expected.
I always sleep at night and go during the day. I know the night sucks.
The night is when the sea serpents spawn, tho
are the vilebone maulclaws worse than flesh rippers? cuz they mainly do pierce which is worse against most things?
or maybe I'm just overthinking it?
and thunderstorms, and they take a bit to despawn
at that point just get Frostner amigo, but I suppose that means you need Ymir Flesh from Haldor, Frostner carries through plains
??? no I'm talking about fist weapons here not maces
I realize but what I'm saying is Frostner is just flat out better and will carry you so dont bother with fist weapons, but to answer your question the maulclaws are better than the flesh rippers imo. Flesh rippers are kinda buns
Pierce is only super weak in the early game, plains and onward it balances out
except yag who is super resistant to pierce.
because he is a big ahh skeleton, ur not wrong amigo
But then Frostner just annihilates him because hes weak to blunt and spirit
Yeah but he is weak to spirit and the for some reason the silver spear doesn't do spirit damage. So you're using the sword most likely anyway.
*FROSTNER
more like BS
idgaf about how good frostner is I'm using other weapons
this is fair, fun over meta is always respectable
game isn't hard
Frostner isn't good so fun over hype is respectable 💛
man hates Frostner lmao
Yes.
it is boring tbf
Nothing to do with boringness.
Sup
man why does iron chest recipe require fine wood
i stocked up so many iron bars, so many wood pieces and to get hit with a fine wood requirement
To be fair its not exactly hard to get finewood
just replant birch and... huh... those giant meadow trees
oak trees
How much does this game cost? 💲 forgot :/
Should i waste my time on a boar pen and taming boars? Since im playing on 2x resources I dont think i need to and getting to swamp anyway
Still 19,99 €.
you use boar for a while even after meadow
but its not a big deal, especially with the options you chose
Because what farm is complete with farm animals?
its a good thing to keep a boar farm to get leather scraps easily as it still have uses until the Plains
With 2x resources there really shouldn't be a need. Heck, I'm playing on 1.0 resources and I have a chest full of scraps just from killing the boars that spawn near my base on a daily basis. The meat I'm burning into coal at this point..
I have built two boar farms on earlier worlds, each time I have pretty much abandoned the poor buggers after completing it. So, if you @weak swift don't think it is fun to tame them just for the sake of doing it, and having some swine around that you can cuddle now and then, I'd say you don't need to spend time on it.
i dont' do auto afk farms or stuff, so my typical "harvest" consists of 12 boars per generation... on 1x i find it overall useless with boars less than 1 star and prefer hunting in that case. If boars are 1 star or more, 12 per gen is ok and even comfy, but only early in the game, if i don't find / take time to tame starred boars before swamps i'd just skip it probably
what do you feed them boars with? before having access to farming
Berries
Any forageables in meadows and black forest: mushroom, raspberries, blueberries. Not yellow mushrooms tho.
I started a hardcore no map no portal game and man the whole way you play the game is so different
the immersion factor makes you do things you wouldn't ever think about like building roads and signs to navigate
also you deforest according to the path you're making
no portal sounds like a total slog, is it really fun to play like that?
normally it would be because your goal for the game is fast progression
but playing this way sort of shifts your thinking to changing the world to suit yourself around you and you happen to progress
progression is slower but the experience is vastly different
I am absolutely loving it, but if you feel you have to progress constantly in a game you'd probably hate it, since it does slow the process down a whole lot. But for me it immensely increases the immersion, since I need to plan ahead and be smart about where I place my outposts. Also building roads to make carting less rage-inducing, which has the side effect of "taming" the landscape. I'm planning to build a paved and wisp-lit damn road through mistlands just for the hell of it!
But, once I get to Ashlands I will allow myself to build stone portals (head canon - stone portals are the ONLY portals...) because no way in heck I am subjecting myself to travelling that hellscape without portals.
Either that or filling the entire bloody biome with fireplaces to push spawns away from where I move.
you have to be fond of sailing, and the ocean soundtrack... that's all.
I wish pierce dmg was good 💀
I swear every 2nd mob I fight has res or high res to pierce
A lot of them do, yes.
There are many that resist all or several physical damage types, but apart from skellies and charred not many that resist pierce exclusively. Several bosses do however, which I suppose is intentional to make bows less ideal in those fights.
pierce may not be great, but bows are great
especially because you can switch up your damage types with different arrows
i feel the same way about axes and swords even. everything pales in comparison to the overwhelmingly op club category of weapons
say what
crops require an open sky to grow, that's all you need to keep in mind
in fact, protecting your animals with some sort of roofed building is something you definitely want
So i cant build a roof for my carrots?
nope
so being a new player to this game and not survival games in general how did you guys find this game? what was your first thoughts on it?
After some over 3200 hours I can tell you the game is alright.
hey it looks fun and its one of my fave genres so it wsa a no brainer
Little joking for sure, but I actually don't remember how I initially first time found out about the game. But surely I got hooked, lined and sinked in it.
are there any plans for crossplay with this title?
There is crossplay already.
xbox and playstation?
doubt it could run on switch
yay
Xbox now, PS in 2026.
i love how more people will be able to play it
I hope you got gills or a diving suit with a good respiration device.
Otherwise you might drown at some point..... 🙁
swimming?
does boat despawn if it is not in active zone?
Still deep in. 👀
i died in the middle of ocean so i sailed a karve and retreived the body and the longboat and i left the karve there
hook line and sinker
Nope. They could be destroyed by monsters occasionally if they can't find you but you're still in the zone.
In that case, it'll be there until you find someone else to help you retrieve it.
Or fly to that location using Dev-commands
That's what I used as reference, game so good I'm still playing it quite actively.
But since 2021 the game has gotten very notable updates, including 2 finished biomes and the final one is on its way. 👍
To me this game is simply a next step in the evolution of Survival Sandbox games.
I started with LiF:YO, went to Wurm Online (the only game besides Valheim with a "Free Build" system), did Medieval Dynasty, then Valheim. Tried Enshrouded and the last version of Runescape, but those don't have the right feeling for me.
Valheim offers a liberty I've only found in Wurm Online so far; with a tad or RPG added to it and without the monthly subscription. 😄
I love how Valheim won't punish you overly much for not optimising everything or making progression your main priority. If I want to spend months loitering in Meadows building a cosy little base, I can do that without the game trying to rush me ahead to beat the next boss or whatever. If I want to push on constantly and get to bosses asap, the game allows for that too - and everything in between, including excessive building, obsessive resource farming etc etc. I love this about Valheim. Then on top of all that they added the world modifiers so long-timers can shake things up - or if you're a newbie and struggling so much that you're not having fun, you can tweak the game to be more forgiving to match your own approach. All in all a game nearly as perfect as is even possible - and it's not even fully done yet!
not if you use crossbow 💀
