I wish the visibility was less of an issue in Mistlands too.
Verticality is less of an issue with the meads we now have.
wisp light should be upgradable
I always assumed the wisplight is just a sort of fairy or some sort of living thing, whatever their concept of "life" is
can you "upgrade" a human? Or any living being, for that matter
This BF runestone talks about exactly this 🙂
"||I have been reborn many times in this world. I have died again and again only to awaken in my own house. Yet still I wonder how many more times I will return like this. Frida was taken by a serpent and her bed lies empty still. Bjarni was bitten in half by a troll and neither half has been seen since...
All around are the ruins of those who came before us but where are the hands that built them?
Perhaps, when a warrior loses the will to remain here, they can no longer return...||"
yeah, "failing" is literally not logging into the game 😂
They lost their will to remain in Valheim 😄
I really like the mistlands
I love the mist and the verticality and I often explore without a wisplight anyways
Mistlands best lands. 🤌
i like plains the most i think
horde battles in the villages are a fun time
if you have bile bombs you can be the arsonist you always wanted to be
I'm saving those for later. I don't run into nearly enough gallons to have the inventory I'd like.
Gjall.
there are so many gjalls in my mistlands area
i have a stack and a half of bile bombs
I have about 30.
From a buildlers pov, mistlands would be perfect if it had a 30/70 ratio of misty vs mist free terrain
Instead of the current 10/90 distribution
If i am building anything in the mistlands at ground level i end up making 2 or 3 worlds to find a suitable spot.
if i am building in the mistlands then you know i've been abducted and replaced by an impostor
I found a rather huge coast line area that had me thinking about building. I just have no real need with all the towers there.
I find amusing that you can parry with a bilebomb
arsonist loadout
Why build your own base in the mistlands when you can viciously murder and take over the homes of little funny looking people
What they gonna do when I lift the key to their house above my head
because i live on a mountain
i live where there is snow
There are mountains in the Mistlands. Nice and clear too.
Hello
A little piece of me died when I found out I can't actually live in a mountain in vanilla. In, not ON, not hacked into an ugly damp furry hideout. Tunneled in.
Quite a few people build castles that are very liveable there 🤔
Yeah but he wants to tunnel.
That is what they ***dont ***want to 😄
-# As far as i decrypted that sentance at least
-# Actually you may be right...
Pick the right rock formation and you might be able to pull off something on the small side.
You wanted Moria but you got to live in a tiny hole underneath a gray-green potato rock
My buddy and I made it to the Mistlands yet again! This time we found a very large patch of territory not covered in mist... and a ton of bugs lol!
time to make some poison potions to start the swamp : /
anything else that would be helpful?
isnt there a weapons that does aoe damage like a slam good for slimes?
Mace is usually enough for them 🙂 but if you want AoE blunt dmg you can make stagbreaker
-# Mate you know you can edit messages without deleting them right? 😄
Well if it makes you feel better, you could always ask a mod to validate when something was sent or edited.
It could also be a bit annoying/confusing to receive multiple pings for the same message.
this game is way better multiplayer right?
Hence the could part
Personal preference really 🙂
I prefer solo, but I'm also the type to mold the world in very specific ways.
I don't want my friend that fights a troll to just kite it into 20 trees and leave them laying about.
there a way to put a cart on a boat or no need?
No need generally, but you can if you really want to
It can work, it's just possible it will break or break the boat if things get chaotic.
ok ill just make the one above the raft and use storage
only thing i cant portal with is the ore and ingots?
ok thanks i am planning to redo my little base and fortify it in a good location once i find a swamp area
Appreciate the tips 🙂
Yep. Hope you made those bronze nails.
Just need a max upgraded copper pickaxe and some more poison potions before i set out
viles are easier than I thought
saw one and locked in and its just a glorified bear
fulings are a million times harder
Yep.
Made it to mistlands no armor no food no metal perma
🤙
i got me a full haul of iron in me longboat, hopefully i can make it back home safe
Hauling iron usually nets me the most serpent meat.
is max lvl fine bow good enough for swamp tier or do i need the huntsman bow?
i would say it is a waste of iron but i got like a longboat full of iron so i would be swimming in iron for a while
actually the only thing that is waste of iron would be iron axe because there are no trees that need iron axe to be chopped down
but them fine bow i think is decent
i got a lot of iron so i am thinking if huntsman bow is worth crafting
ight then i will reconsider
craft iron arrows
fine bow serves me well for black forest , it will serve me for swawmp too
oh actually huntsman bow is actually lit. tight spread like other late game bow and it has short range hit noise
ight i will craft it
actually dont need to since i got like 200 iron arrows just by getting it from chests in sawmp
do you have near your farmers for crops to grow?
or better to have at your mainbase?
i mean they will grow half way across the map if your not there?
ok thks
just bought karve full of tin back home. it doesn't quite hit the same way as longship full of iron
Huntsman bow makes the least noise. So is ideal for sniping and drawing as little attention as possible.
tin is easily found near water in black forest so yea probably doesnt hit the same way as elusive iron
boy these wooden sword and wooden spear found in black forest chests has gotta be a troll
no way it deals so little dmg, it cant even kill bird
i actually threw the spear and it hit a bird and it deals 0.6 dmg
it cant even kill a bird holy
They are meant for either the training dummy or so you can PvP your friends without killing each other.
@gray sand
slowmode in the other room. i just mined iron and made iron tools
How did you get into the Crypts that have iron?
i walked
Through the locked gate?
what gate lol?
Iron is in Swamp.
Crypts in Swamp are locked.
You either glitch through with a chair (not walking) or use the Swamp Key (not killing only first boss).
hmm, its been a long time since i was on, all i know is i got to metal
i only played the game a few times, so you're kind of saying stuff i have no idea about
Did you kill a massive walking ent tree like dude?
nah, ive killed a troll, thats the only big thing
Did you mod the game?
no
Then either A: you are not at iron or B: you killed more than only the first boss.
yeah i just checked through my old screenies and vids, its bronze, my bad lmao
👍
either way, my original point is still the same.
yall ever seen 2 leviathan at the same place?
Does your boat drift away when you're out of it?
Max I have seen is 4.
catched 3 very close a few times
Boat dead stops the moment you exit. Jump out whenever you want to anchor it, even at max speed, and it will stay there.
Iron weapons + Black Forest food + Lingering Stamina... something is not adding up in that photo.
boy i been sailing in raining ocean to hunt for serpent and they dont appear
they really making this hard to get
finally found 1
Ok but how do you have a Mistlands mead when you're using Swamp weapons? 😭
i'm plannin on a run where i get the stone portal before touching any metal (other than the 2 iron) 😎
-# You lost me at "i" 😏
I'm planning on a run where I get the stone portal before touching any metal (other than the 2 iron) 😎.
Valid.
Thanks. I really value and appreciate your opinion and thoughts.
As you should. I am perfection.
Sevrahn would Stan by that
Gawd i hate that i cant find any 2 star boars to tame. Then i go to swamp a postal code away and 2 star boars spawn. I cant ever find them starred boars in starting zone
Yeah, you can only get lucky and find them at certain word walls close to spawn. Plus the old villages.
is there a sun in valheim?
I've watched it rise and set a few times.
Oh yeah, I see it now. I never really noticed it.
Its weird. I did see that theres a moon, but the sun? I couldnt recall seeing one.
I guess its a good thing I dont stare at it.
you can make a sundial to tell time
each day is 30 mins long with 21m of daylight and 9m of nighttime
It's easiest to see on the water, along coastlines, in big meadow fields, and on the plains.
Another question: is the exp you make by bullying a twig the same as hitting regular stuff?
Seems to. But I haven't looked at the wiki.
i think yes
with the wooden atgeir i've trained my polearm skill past 80 while waiting for stuff to smelt in the background
im gonna stuff it with arrows
The target is for that
Smelting is when I train Swim 😄
use the finewood bow with wood arrowas and your best stamina foods
the target returns your arrows but gives less xp per hit
You can recover any arrow from the target.
yes but less xp
Wait... if you get Swimming Trinket and use Eikthyr it costs no stamina to swim.
New training tech 👀
Shooting g TWIG gives xp?
i think the xp gain from the bow targets should scale with distance. so if you hit a 10 from way far away you should get rewarded accordingly
yes
faster xp gain but no return on arrows
I'll have to try that with the crossbow. That levels sssslllloooowwww.
me storing bloodbags and needles in the same chest
Even when fully leveled the bow is better because of how hard the attspd scales 🙁
surely nothing nasty is going to happen
Yeah, 5 seconds.
honestly it would be really nice if the crossbows stayed loaded after switching weapons or holstering them
Nah
yuh
Nah
yuh uh
Nah
yuh uh
Nah
yuj
If you get the crossbow down to about 2 seconds... might be my new favorite weapon.
i already like the crossbows more because in my current game i went super hard into melee combat
its a weird argument
as in i didn't really ever use bows
ah
i only used bows when i had to. i.e. versus drakes snd moder
I feel like magic in the game is a little odd
It’s such a jump from melee or ranged weaponry to magic since it’s so late game
yeah
6/9 is mid, not late
i tried out a full magic build but i didn't like it that much
maybe when i get the trollstav
i could really see myself using that
I'm just staying melee. I am not going to just throw all those skills away.
I thought there is. Maybe I'm just confusing it with the Mistlands version.
himminafl in mistlands is the highest tier polearm currently
Meadows, Mountain, and Ashlands don't have atgeir.
So they like to skip every so often.
meadows is fair to not have an atgeir but mountains and ashlands...
Every biome has a club and an axe, and everything after Meadows has a sword, yes.
Every biome has every basic weapon.
club worshippers confirmed
??????????????????????????
me too i worship clubs
Probably because 2 handers tend to do more damage and better crowd control.
Clearly you haven't seen how much I phawking hate Frostner if you think I worship clubs. 😄
He does.
wdym frostner is the goat
Worst weapon in the game, but ok.
ragebait
My actual opinion, but ok.
My weapon should never make it harder for me to kill people.
I prefer Porcupine, but I use Frostner.
Porcufrost when?
You enjoy walking between every hit due to colossal knockback that prevents you from killing things faster?
i hate porcupine
normal hit -> secondary hit
glue them in place first and then smack with full power
I do not like Frostners knock back
I think people who like frostner specifically like the knockback because its good for crowd control
frost damage slowdown
Yeah, but they are slowed over there... So now I have to walk.
have you tried hitting them with a wall?
yeah hold W for 0.3 seconds and then special attack
Compared to every other weapon I could use where there is no holding W and I get another hit in during that 0.3s, killing the target faster.
If Frostner was a two-hander I would love it.
deep north two hander hammer with frost
could be fun
i want more frost weapons bc i crave that slowdown effect
Just use green and slow them to zero.
I with two handed hammers behaved more like, say, a battleaxe. The ground slam move should be a secondary attack
That too.
But the two-handed hammer being the "create space with massive knockback" weapon is a good identity if the one-handed maces didn't punt people.
One-handed secondary should punt, yes. But the primary should not.
i don't want it to be a % chance
i want the slow 100% of the time
ok now i will mention. in my current run i use polearms as prinary but keep a frostner and shield on me for backup
Axes and Spears are my mainstays.
spears for me in meadows/black forest
Spear -> Spear -> Spear (Mace for Bonemass) -> Spear -> Plains with no Spear 😭
Spear + Buckler is just a vibe.
not every biome needs a certain weapon
True.
I've never used an atgeir for a playthrough. Played around with them, but I just find them too odd.
atgeirs my beloved
They save you an inventory slot by not needing a shield.
you can start the 3 hit combo earlier bc you have longer reach
i've never done a swords playthrough
Two-handed swords finally got fixed.
Now they just need to fix one-handers.
I only use swords from plains onwards. Doubt I will ever use them for a full run.
i would like the 2 hander swords but i would have to grind the skill level up
I mean... it's not really a chore. Getting Krom in Mistlands and you'll naturally put really good levels on it just from... being in the Mistlands.
I have pretty high skill i. Several weapon.
You don't want the achievement for having 100 in all skills? 😏
Smiffe I swear to Odin if that isn't an achievement in 1.0.....
i don't care about achievements
i have almost 2k hours in another game and i've been sitting at 80% achievement completion bc the last ones are bs
Oh I rarely 100% games.
well the game i have 2k in is one of those that can't be 100% completed like singleplayer games
it's deep rock galactic, every game/mission is randomly generated and no two are ever alike
comparable to "100% minecraft means you do everything in every seed"
valheim is in the similar category, random seeds with tons to do. building, challenges etc
I don't care about achievements. If I get them, I get them. If not, so what?
the only way i'd get 100 in all skills is with commands
i hate grinding so i could never
i have better things to do
Me neither.
"I hate grinding"
-Plays game based on grinding.
😄
ik he's trolling
How tf was "Uninstall" your conclusion?
There is grinding, then there is grinding all skills to 100. Never going to do it.
valheim isn't a grinding simulator type of game
Health Pots + Swim Trinket + Eikthyr = Swim to Ashlands 😛
if any survival game with resource gathering is a grinding game then like what
Are we playing the same game? 🤔
boiling water ☝️ 🤓
the grind in valheim can be beat by doing strategies
The entire loop is:
Grind biome materials -> Build biome stuff -> Kill biome boss.
Go next and repeat.
Health Pots.
no because i have portsl items enabled so that i ease the time spent on moving items
the skill grind, not so much. Besides, I'd say you arent meant to max out certain skills.
Where did I mention "move items" in the loop? 🤔
i edit world modifiers to reduce time spent on grinding
you play on 0.5x resources?
No? Just 1x.
on 1x it takes a bit too long to get stuff for my liking
1.5x resources and portal items. thst's how i bare the "grind"
it doesn't feel like grinding then, that's why i like the game
if it actually felt like grinding i would stop playing
game good, me play
game bad, me not play
but why is game good?
has the devs ever talked about 1.0 achievements
Is there anywhere else to find bees other than the meadows?
black forest structures on rare occasions
They are pretty rare and I only find them in the big tower with the terrace and sometimes a fine wood chair and maybe a table inside.
Never found them in any of the other styles.
i've found more archer skeletons shooting me from under the ground than bees in black forest
Well, they exist. So keep your ears sharp.
clip of underground archer in #memes-and-clips
If it helps I am within 50 hours of having 5000 hours.
dont think ive found a skeleton in a stone, but i have found a few laughing rocks in the plains
Yeah, seems like nearly all the smaller mobs can get trapped in rocks. At least up to the Mistlands. Haven't seen any in the two newest biomes. Yet.
would be funny if they dug themselves deeper with each throw
i dont think most enemies should be able to
only lox, troll, fuling berserker, seeker soldier and such
It would make trolls and some other creatures less of a joke to deal with.
and mix up base defence.
a mote would still be nearly just as effective tho
tho... i see why the devs might not want mobs to do this.
the game would end up looking like a propper warzone after a few hundred days.
unless you actively go around fixing the terrain damage.
or it somehow fixes itself with time
more terrain damaging mobs would just flatten the entire world 8 meters
I've noticed 2 so far. Soldiers and lava blobs.
Lox have the stupidest mechanic by far of all the creatures mentioned in that list
This game refunds materials of destructed buildings, correct? I am a returning player but I frogor 💀
Lightly grazes me with its body and sends me flying 20 meters away from it all the while dealing 0.8 damage
Yeah, it does
cool ty
Still waiting for the day I can deconstruct my boat instead of having to beat it down
I stopped playing bc I didn't like the whole not being able to take metals with you in portals
it happened naturally though I didn't rage quit, just kinda stopped playing like how you lose touch with an old friend, you don't think ab it it just happens
coming back to it now with that setting adjusted bc while it may not be the intended experience it sure is a hell of a lot better than no experience
Keep waiting, it's intentional 😛
Something being intentional does not disqualify it from being stupid unfortunately
A lot of people would agree
It's actually preventative, so someone doesn't destroy their boat and all their ores sink to the ocean floor
Ah yes, because I'm running around with a hammer in my hands and middle clicking everywhere when I'm ferrying ores
yeah. i generally avoid changing settings the devs explicitly indicate aren't the intended experience but if it reaches a point where it no longer makes the game enjoyable then well intended experience be damned lol

You could say that in a sense portalling ores is now part of the intended experience but only for the ashlands
Stone portal was added because no sane man would survive boating ores from there back to base
It happens, just because you see it as farfetched doesn't mean that inconvenience should be one click away.
It takes less than 5 seconds to break it down anyways.
You unlock portals later that you can teleport metal through...
also the game is peer pressuring me because this is my first ever savefile and I am either past or near day 100 with not one single death. the pressure is on to keep the streak for flex purposes
Inconvenience is one click away for a lot of things in valheim, "accidentally" deconstructing boats is among the far less problematic inconveniences thanks
I'll bring up the lack of potion hotkeys and the general stability mechanic as examples for inconveniences one click away
in the meantime though I'm not having a good time bc it feels tedious so I understand that but I'd rather give up on that detail than give up on the game itself
I gave it all an honest to god chance
tried to go along with it, not for me
Gents what is the best food/weapon setup for surviving mistlands/early ashlands
Alright, you seem a bit agitated, just trying to explain the reasoning.
I have pretty bad ADHD so I already struggle with putting things off IRL because they mildly inconvenience me, I don't want more of that in a game yk
Nah, just my personality, I could care less, valheim's development team isn't the kind that takes a lot of feedback so brainstorming and wishful thinking in here is the closest you can get
I'll end up with putting off metal mining, running out and then forcing myself out there just to go get already mined metals.
Get a friend to play through the game with, it'll make your experience a lot more comfortable
If you farm a full boat you don't need to keep going back and forth
They're an indie team that stays true to their original vision, it's not that they don't take feedback, they just have specific things that are intentional.
Lots of tips and tricks you can utilize to move ores around easier if you have a friend (portable mule) with you
There's so many points at which feedback is taken from players.
See that would require having friends that have time to play games and/or are into the same kinda games as you.
My best friend is:
- not a big Gamer™ and usually only plays the games we play together
- has a "job" and a "wife" and "responsibilities" and is doing a further "bachelors" education. sounds like a load of horse shit to me but what can you do. get your priorities straight, am I right
Don't get me wrong, it's good that they stay true to their original vision, lots of small studios turn corrupt and start adding microtransactions at every turn once they get a taste of cash and fame. But that doesn't mean closing off community feedback is a good choice either
simply be like me with 0 time management skills so you end up playing games while you really should be doing work but still end up getting it (college work) all done in the end because you have good memory but with 10x the stress of normal education
I've yet to see anything other than that twitter post about the inventory system, which currently seems to be the most complained about thing
They don't do that either, there's 3 rounds of feedback for every major update. Private testing, public testing, and release.
All of which result in patches altering things based on feedback, otherwise they wouldn't do any testing, or even early access for that matter.
yeah that's fine tbh. in cases like these though it may be good to have a toggle in f.e. world modifiers that explicitly states it deviates from the intended experience
but w/e, things like that can be modded in if need be
Such as? You could bring up the ashlands nerf as one of the things feedback changed, but despite it being generally considered a good change, it doesn't fit everyone. What johny said about toggles is a good option
Most definitely, I just hope players don't opt into mods before giving feedback on the game, it's crucial to molding the experience for the better.
Not to mention you can already deconstruct carts, there's just no reason you shouldn't be able to do the same with boats, it's not like you're gonna put a workbench on the ocean surface and accidentally deconstruct it lol
Actually that was a mod for carts I used, nevermind
Goes to show how much I dislike the mechanics
Yeah I was going to say 😛 It should just point to the intention there though.
I really don't see it, you can't accidentally break it down with a hammer unless you're in workbench range
Right, if you're repairing your boat after an attack, you could misclick and drop hours of work into the ocean. Adding a couple seconds for deconstruction is helping to prevent that.
That's why I find it quite silly it's "preventative" when the scenario where you accidentally break it down and it causes a big problem (ores/parts sinking deep down in the ocean) is very rare
On this note, lots of players seem to be pretty pissed about mistlands and the general mist mechanic, those who are bothered enough by it opt for that popular wisplight mod, seems like something they should look into if they really take in feedback
There's been plenty of statements about why they can't alter that, but it boils down to performance concerns.
As mentioned before, even a toggle helps
Mind elaborating on the performance concerns? Or letting me know where I can find some of the statements at least
Dynamic mist clearing has been tested rigorously, on thousands of different systems, in hundreds of different scenarios, in solo or in multiplayer. Dynamic mist clearing is a heavy process, coupled with instance counts, additional players, enemies & mobs, it can weigh massively on a system with low end specs.
Might be a bit extreme, but perhaps instead of trying to go down the dynamic mist clearing route a toggle could exist in the world modifiers that completely removes the mist, although it kills the wisplight's use and the biome's name, it's the only idea I have at the moment other than enlarging the light's radius that could somewhat appease the people against it
People against it have plenty of options, there's chunks of mistlands that generate with no mist, there's wisp torches that permanently clear it, I myself have a mistlands biome completely clear of all mist with just torches.
mistlands with no mist is Fire
Seems pretty clear from people quitting and the complaints about it that those options are not enjoyable for them
it's a shame that the engine basically doesn't allow tunneling because a hollow earth/agartha type biome is very norse and would be very cool
I happened upon a massive chunk with no mist when first sailing it there, it made it much easier.
Sure, the wisp torches are actually a good option when you look at it like that, but their radius is pretty small
I was looking at all the feedback and it came down to growing pains in most cases, it's just a new challenge to navigate.
has anyone maxed out a skill yet like completely legit no cheats?
I think the closest I got was 62 in Run
Quite a few people, yep
Yeah, my running and jumping usually maxes out around plains.
what about like blocking or sword or another weapon not just running
So was ashlands but it was allegedly nerfed, personally found it pretty tolerable during the beta client, haven't reached it yet to see how much is different since then
Got running and axes maxed out in current playthrough at plains
am I crazy or did the bear get it's health cut by a certain amount? I remember on launch it had more health than it does now
Yeah, they just brought the challenge down a bit to appease some of the lesser skilled audience, some want the nerf reverted in higher difficulties.
like i got 1400hrs and never been close to maxing out a weapon skill
It is very empty enemy-vise compared to ptb
thats pre cool worth it you reckcon or difference small?
I don't like the sound of that lol
The coasts aren't as populated, but the inland of the ashlands can still be pretty crowded.
It's definitely noticeable, skill only grew that high since I usually pick out the playstyle I intend to keep throughout the game before even starting the playthrough
Heard there were two new battleaxes added for the plains and mistlands so I decided to give the weapon type a try
Yeah I can see why the change would be better suited for worse players, beta client landing on the shore was just a straight up wave defense game mode, enjoyable though, for me
I love battleaxes, their secondary is amazingly flexible.
Makes for a good golf club on fulings
Same with clubs and atgeirs
I remember sailing to the plains for the first time I had to struggle with the deathsquitos while not crashing the boat which was fun
ive never tried them hey i just love parrying in valheim
Yeah, to be fair the spawners can still generate close to each other and emulate that feeling in some places.
Had a few experiences like that before, the feeling was pretty much what the biome was meant to be, hell
Got me pondering how the difficulty will increase in the deep north if it's like this right now
My favorite Ashlands moment was facing a Morgen in Very Hard difficulty, I mustve had 40 charred following me around while trying to kill it.
Arrows flying around you, hellish skeletons slowly making their way to you, all while a rolling ball of bones wants you dead, sounds fun
Makes the feeling of getting through it even more rewarding
The only relief during the fight were random Dvergr that sacrificed everything for me, RIP.
I truly hope those little guys will be in the DN
Friendly NPCs were an enjoyable addition
Not counting the traders you visit once in a blue moon and the birds I never even talked to
Yeah, maybe some way to interact a bit deeper with them. So many players have suggested a way to stop their aggression if you anger them.
Could be cool if you gave them an item they enjoyed and ended up following you, have your own squad marching behind
Also watching them run into lava is really sad.
i want to do a Hard run but i know im too trash for that
Cant know that if you dont try 😄
I severely underestimated how hard playing without the map is
I'm considering doing that. Feels like it would be nice in a lot of ways. The world likely feels much more mysterious etc
But then I go "it makes sense that my character would at least try to map things out - so me drawing a map of my own outside of the game makes sense". And then I go "but if me doing that makes sense, why not let the character do that on their own.. which kind of is what the ingame map is"
I know it's not exactly the same tho. Ingame map is exact and in addition to the map you also have the GPS functionality of it 😄
I've seen someone use a mod that would give players the option to play without map; however, they are able to bring up a stylistic one at the cartography table.
Meaning you can study your map at home, but not when you're away.
Kinda feels like the best of both worlds to me.
I'm certain that players in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966 could help with that any better.
the thing I've come up with is using the hoe and signs to make paths and landmarks
there's now actually a point to doing that rather than doing it just for the aesthetic
Oh yeah. I kind of do that anyway. I think the real issue without a map is keeping track of multiple landmasses etc
I make big structures and docks to mark where stuff is
I find it changes your mindset to the game completely, you have to reshape the world in your image from day one
I enjoy doing orienteering so I did a “external map” play through where I had the world map from a website that I could look at and orienteer myself in the world. Fun and not too much more challenging
I couldn't do it, too much of my fun revolves around discovering things and marking the map 😛
I'm not there yet but there is just no way that Ashlands is worse than Mistlands.
Hi! I joined this server because I had a question, but I got distracted by one of the lead-up questions that joining the server promps, and now I realize that maybe I should be re-evalualted for ADD/ADHD or something similar. I have no idea what I came here for.
It was some stupid early game complaint that I'm sure you guys get all the time lol
Well, if you remember let us know 🙂
In that case: Welcome.
Many here joined and have no idea what they came here for, so you're absolutely in the right place!
Ofsalgjas Oh oh, it was
I was wondering why, if you build a workbench and then walls, and then accidently destroy the workbench while breaking stuff, like, is that just an unfortunate pain in the butt now you have to rebuild a workbench to break the rest kind of thing? Why is it like that?
Thank you! Happy to be here! I
Sorry, stupid big hands\
I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy this game
Besause the workbench is what enables you to build and destroy stuff 🙂
@merry pebble Alright, so I'm not doing anything wrong, just make sure to hit the workbench last lol, got it
Exactly 😄
Olay one sec before I ask my other question
I had to make sure my friend wasn't on this server >< He's the one who introduced me to the game
OH should I jump over to the help channel?
My friend yesteerday was just like "Oh from the beginning skip everything till you find flint. Also, this is where I'm at." And he showed me stuff like chitin (I think that's how it's spelled) weapons, and was talking about sailing ><
Terrible advice tbh, you should be allowed to discover at your own pace and feel the flow of the game.
Tbh if you play without spoilers you will enjoy the first playthrough much more 🙂
that's just lands
Yeah, and Ashlands is fire 😮
My friend is a very... how do I put this.. direct person? Results are what he looks for most.
Ashlands without the ash
My advice would be to play solo as well, so you aren't pulled in directions without clear motivations.
That's not even what I mean to say ><
Like
He, as a friend, wants what is best for me, so he wants to help me play Valheim as effiently as possible? If that makes sense
Yeah, but some people enjoy the slow burn playstyle, there's plenty of little tasks to do, as well as tasks that will progress you, and both can be engaging/fun.
you can only play the game first time once and effiently might not be the most fun way for everyone
all the crazy fails from my first play are the things i remember the most
nods
my first death to bees because i didnt realize i was stung by them was 👌
I haven't died to bees yet
dying and failing might be frustrating but it also makes some of the best memories in games especially these kind of games where everything can happen
xD
Alright, before I jump back in, there's no way to rename save characters, right?
do 2 star asksvin show up more at night?
They show only at night 🙂
i jus bought this game a few minutes ago? is it soloable?
Yes, just stick to the usual advice of preparing ahead of time for things you're gonna tackle on and you'll be fine
Don't be surprised if the difficulty goes up the further you progress
Yep, its a solo game with option of co-op if you want to, so it is designed with primarily singleplayer in mind 🙂
Look no further than #1024264966712340510 😄
I just... (I think?) wandered too close to the dark wood before I was ready and am now back to nothing
When I start breeding asksvin shoukd I pen them up or do they do ok roaming freely around my base?
Id keep a few eggs in a well protected box just in case a raid wipes them out
I would be for a pen, since they can be quite destructive if they see any enemy
Can they see through copper cage walls?
Not sure, but i would think yes
Deep north out yet??
It would have been announced in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202150165449035816 or https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202170015671914506 if that was the case. Also, no updates are coming for the rest of the year.
😭
Hopefully 2026 🤞
Ive been to busy to keep up with announcements im in to many discords that do that
For real, hopefully before my birthday In February
Depends on if you have played before or after the Call to Arms update, I can recommend starting new run as the update did indeed make huge difference for the whole playthrough.
Before sadly we have 1 boss left to fight 😅😅
We will portal kill him and start a new world for new biome maybe, especially since we had a 3rd guy join us right before mistlands
I need to build a new pc tho cuz my laptop cant run games anymore I think something is lose or needs new thermal paste but everyone ik wont touch it for the simple fact its a laptop
I just got to the ashlands
I understand its random, and I just got unlucky, but I dont think its cool to put me right beside a level two spawner. I just got there ffs!
Its better if u go into the middle, we made mistake of coming in from the side and just got bombarded hard
its fine, one of the rock thrower slapped me and I died
Helps to use frost staff and dodge mobs and take out spawners near where u land
It'll slow down mobs if they get to close as well
If u see askvin early just run tbh
Yeah frost staff helps slow em down
But ive noticed it basically doesn't work on askvin hence why I said that
But a frost staff allows u to slow enemies and take out spawners quick
About 100 eitir nonstop frost staff firing at it should put a 2* warrior down
If u hit 99% ur shots anyway gotta be a little close
But you can walk around them as u do it and they cant find ur hitbox
Jeez this making me wanna get on but I cant 😭🤣
I can just run around askvins, they dont turn fast enough
I can outrun a warrior
Okok
I'm telling u frost staff will be ur best friend bro
Easy to make tbh you need frost glands and a couple other cheap stuff
Been a while i forget exactly
yeah and i need magic food and probably that magic armor and all that, I dont have that
I dont use eitir armor much
besides, I dont want to slow them, I want to kill them
^
If you got a load of 2 ⭐ warriors on your arse, you may have run into Lord Retho's place.
Because I can't think of another reason why a whole gang of 2 ⭐ monsters would be in one place.
Letting them spawn and not killing them
I know its a lord reto's place. There was a spawner. Im just complaining about my rotten luck
Ive seen it before
For groups of enemies the staff of embers will be better than frost 🙂
The aoe is very good for this aplication 🙂
Uhhhh idk what u did to ur staff but no no it is not
I thought my portal was covered
It barely does anything takes soooooo much eitir to let off the amount of shots to make it effective
So much
a bit of ember fell on it, and turned the finewood into coal
U cant even knock trees down with it thatd make it decent
Frost staff shines against single enemies, but for groups ember staff is sipply better 😄
Its like throwing paper in a fire
Especially against wet enemies. 💦
❄️
And if u have the ability to use ur eitir and stam wisely and be able to stagger it you could have 10 2* warriors and just walk around them slow em down and put em out
can we find finewood in the ashland?
Nope
Not hard if u know how to move around
why is this game so annoying!?
Different biomes have different wood...
And some have the same
some of them share the same wood! or have drops or something
there's finewood in the mistland, plains, meadows
I dont believe it is in mistlands 🤔 or at least i dont remember any source atm
Ah, maybe from funriture, tho i didnt really destroy much of it so not sure
Boxes that hold soft tissue, yes.
Well, the common wood is the only one you can find in all biomes, but Ashland, if you chop down trees.
Finewood is found in Meadows and Plains. And sometimes in the Black Forest and Swamp if you're able to destroy either furniture or a shipwreck.
well, time to just leave teh ashland by boat
I don't think I ever got it from destroying the boxes with soft tissue, though.
i break them with throwing refined eitr next to them
No offence, but it's only a waste of time if you haven't learned from this experience.
If you did, however, you will get back to the Ashlands with better gear and food at some point and conquer it.
Its not my first rodeo with the ashland
i worship the norse god of ionizing radiation. i carry a stack of nuclear waste where ever i go in mistlands
I literally have the best gear I can get right now. And best food. My only portal got burned down because a tiny bit was uncovered and I cant rebuild it
yeah well theres a bonemaw in the way so im kind of stuck
Good luck finding and breaking 20 wards in Ashlands.
@wintry valve go get some wards 😄
screw that, the dwarves are going to melt me with their dwarf lasers
Pretty sure they give you more than 1 finewood 😏
and anyway im surrounded by exclusively starred enemies
and i no longer have my rested bonus
crates, tables, chairs also drop finewood
honestly if i take time destroying the outposts it prolly means i'm after black marble the most
i already have a full barrel of it from taking out a ribcage and 2 skulls
Iirc they drop only 1 of each material in Dvergr outposts (finewood, greydwarf eye and surtling core).
Hmm, i think i remember them giving me more 🤔
will go test real quick
Most I get is copper scraps and sometimes bars
Fine wood, very little of it, comes from things previously listed. Cores come from the ward and broken lights.
You are correct 😄 i was remembering it wrong
yeah, stuff you didn't build yourself gives you back less resources when destroyed, probably to avoid abusing?
Likely. Doesn't make much sense otherwise.
I knew it gave less 😄 but for some reason i remembered it gave around 5-6 fine wood, not 1
You probably rembered totals.
That one would be 3 tho xD
There are usually around 6 crates. Then I think the chairs give 1 each. Not sure about tables.
Or beds
I think meads barrels give it too, plus tasty mead
Yeah, it's not like I inventory this stuff. It's, OK, this is what I now have.
Ive been thonking of a trinket idea
It doesnt proc anything, but instead gives you 1% more damage per 10 adrenalin, but also makes you lose adrenalin 1% faster per adrenalin
Yeah those give ashwood.
my pigs keep having babies in the corner of the pen
so piggies born outside the walls
Add another ring of walls to protect them. It's what I do.
It irritatingly happens often.
i guess i have to even tho i dont like the aesthethics of that 😂
ooh finally got bear trophy, now just need to decide headpiece or pendant
If your going to use the armor, make it. I rarely get that trinket to activate.
headdress it is then!
oh god, i crafted the headdress and instantly died for the first time 😂
can't blame the berserk status thought, i accidentally ran into the border of plains and 1 feet into it deathsquito got me
and i got my portal in my inventory, and ship is on the shore there, fun!
atleast i have troll headdress to wear when i raft back 🙂
That's why 2 portals. Drop 1 as soon as your ship is safe and keep another for exploring.
I just use one. If I decide I need another one I just go back and get it.
Is there any way to tell the time in-game, apart from watching the sun? I'm in my first infested mine, low on food and definitely not equipped to handle mistlands night out in the open...
Nah, gotta run. Greater chances of survival than running without food later...
I usually rely on the rested timer, day is 21 minutes long and night 9 minutes iirc so you can keep the time using that
I wonder what the in-universe lore explanation for why parrying a ranged attack staggers the enemy would be
Or things like starting the timer on your phone/watch/etc... when the day starts.
They took it away and things were good.
People bitched, they put it back in.
Official quote from the devs "not logical, but fun!"
Ok i think im ready for the swamp. Going to rock shield mac and fully upgraded fine bow till i get the better bow from swamp. Going to start a more serious base with moat and briodge for defense against raids too, i suck at bases so we'll see how it goes : /
Oh, when was that? Way back?
Yes.
Yeah, at least 3 years ago, maybe 4.
They are stupefied by your blazing skills!
Like the overacting guys doing peasants in old samurai films
Hah, made it out of the Mistlands to my little fob hut in the adjacent black forest. Was welcomed back by a two-star troll
Had to do a no-fuckabout-atgeir-offence takedown
Nice! Those are rare. I've seen maybe 6.
I am a better player now than last time I saw one, kept it staggered so I could regenerate some stamina and stagger it again. Can't have it smashing up my hut!
Last time I saw one there was a corpse run and some cursing
Pretty sure something like that happened to me as well. The one I really remember is the 1 star troll nailing me as I came out of a portal into my little fort. I lived but had to rebuild pretty much everything.
They're so bloody destructive!
Ah well, mission accomplished this run, found a good spot for a shroom farm near the coast, with roots nearby. Also stumbled on a mine, just two cores but it's a start. Good first mistlands incursion. No-portals is going to make the shroom and sap farming a bit awkward. But at least I don't use magic so I don't need THAT much sap...
Now I just need to locate some dvergr with an extractor, not seen any outposts yet, just the odd rogue standing about alone. Poor sods.
Still need a decent amount, but yeah, considerably less than going mage
Hah, thought I had stained my screen with something and tried to scrub it clean, was a pufferfish suspended in mid-air. It apparently missed that the wave it rode receded...
founding two star troll early would be so nice
fast copper mining and wood cutting for free!
By the time you run into those you shouldn't need that much of either tbh
I once had 4 fish suspended in the air for weeks of game time
So odd.
Besides, I dislike their lack of precision, trolls are good for one thing - supplying me with skins for my first proper suit of armour..
Yeah, 2 stars would be a big help with that at the right time.
First one I ever killed knocked down half the trees in a huge area while I was kiting it around, looked like a nuke went off
😆 Give them enough time they can be very destructive.
Noooo lost a serpent trophy due to stupidity. Inventory full, so it sank
Ouch.
Got one, and it hangs over my throne, don't want to use that one for fishing bait...
I think we currently have 3. One is over the back doors to the home.
Good evening people,
I have a question about planbuild. How do I place a downloaded blueprint on my pc in game?
Doubt that is even possible.
Rats! Thanks for responding.
I assume thats a mod? Try asking in #mods-discussion 😄
A mod for blueprints? Interesting...
Valheim is a factory game after all. 😏
Will you need to start a new world when the last biome comes out?
You shouldnt if you didnt explore the area it will be in 🙂
How can you know that ahead of time
That you got to that area or...
Like is it in a specific area or just a random spot on the map that is yet to be generated like most biomes?
Its specific area in the north of the map, like ashlands are in the south
Ah
Oooh I didn't know there's a placeholder
I mean I don't know how big the world actually is so I don't know how close I'll be
How much I can safely explore without risking it
Just look at some seeds 🙂 you will get some idea, and if you want numbers then its 21000m in diameter
What part of the map are the other biomes in after Plains?
https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/np0fhl/valheim_infographic/
This post has nice visualization in what areas biomes can spawn 🙂
time to set sail for swamp : /
I love the swamp.
Ah, another swamp enjoyer. 🤝
The swamp is awesome
if there no wind just use rudder?
Yep
If you plant carrot seeds from an actual carrot, do you get extra or something?
Yep, you grow the flower you can find in black forest, that gives 3 seeds
nice found perfect spot with meadow and swamp
I mean it gives me the option to plant seeds from carrots themselves isn't it?
Or do you only get more carrots by finding seeds in the wild
Yes, you plant a seed which gives you 1 carrot and the plant that one carrot to give you 3 other seeds 🙂 this loop repeats with crops up to mountain tier
Is the animal whispers mead worded incorrectly or am i reading it wrong
It cuts the taming time in half
Yeah i assumed it did a positive effect, but the wording in the mead Ketill says "Animals will be less reluctant to accept you into their flock"
Yeah, seems normal, whats the issue?
I need to make that sooner. At least I have plenty for Ashlands.
English please.
We're doing well though.
french is basically english but spoken in french

None.
its whtas gotten me to buy the game
try asking in #mods-discussion
oo okay didnt see that
I'm finally going home today. Hopefully I will be up to playing Valheim for a couple of hours.
🧙♀️ ⌛
Yep, the cleaning wizard has been and gone
hello people, just joined the server
main reason was to find people to play with
how are people in the public servers? is the community ok?
or how does it work generally?
Community is fine, there'll always be some bad actors
#1024264966712340510 Is a good place to find like minded people and yall can set up boundaries and rules pretty effectively
anything i should be aware of when applying for a group?
anyone got any tips on finding fish? was trying to find info about respawning and looking for them and am really confused now
You look for schools of the type you want. They do respa wn in a few days
I like searching for them from a karve.
Ocean.
sry that i've been living under a rock for awhile, but did we get any confirmation when 1.0 is getting released?
When it is ready.
Who tryna starta fresj world
Late i know,
But watch the map.
If the east facing hills are sunny and the west facing hills are shadowy, its morning.
this morning i made a mushroom omelette irl
need that stamina in the morning
it ended up being so big that i had to serve it on our salmon plate bc it didn't fit on a regular plate
Instead of one food you made the whole feast.
🍽️
8 mushrooms, 4 eggs and a whole sausage + a lot of cheese
why can't we have cheese in valheim
it would be cool if tamed loxes could be milked
they're mammals right?
Ask yourself if you've ever seen a lizard/snake/reptile milked and you'll get your answer lol
hey they look very mammal-like
not just in size but they have fur, and a pelt. lizards don't have hairy leather
According to the wiki they're a mix of lizard and ox, judging by their appearance, they have the ox's fur and the lizard's body
If it were the other way around, then it would make sense for them to be milked
(they would also probably look absolutely horrifying if it was the other way around)
but they don't lay eggs do they? they give birth to live babies
Valheim logic be like that
Make reptilians mate!!!
then if not loxes then what tamed animal currently would be the best source of milk
Deer off the top of my head
askvins are lizards that lay eggs, so no on that. i wouldn't want to milk wolves and same with boars
can't tame deer
Who says you have to tame them to get milk from them
You just simply walk up to the deer and take what you want
you know how hard, wierd and sort of cruel that would be
Maybe in the twisted world of valheim we can milk chickens
I've done far more cruel things to them by now
maybe deep north will add goats and rams that can be milked idk
They have teased one new mob that is a mammal
is it that seal thing with horns
Yep
I mean hey, seals got mammary glands, I dunno about these ones, maybe they're another mob fusion
Narwhal + seal or some crap lol
I wouldn't want to consume milk that comes from anything in valheim, it'd probably kill you rather than help you
that's why i think just normal goats in deep north could be the best
cheese made from goat milk is pretty good too
Guess we'll see what they add, I've already placed my bet on the 2nd bear reskin
can mobs spawn on hoed land or do i need to place work benches? and i heard you can put torches in side wood beams to help protect the benches?
They can spawn on hoed areas too if not spawnproofed. Campfire works for that too, it has same radius as workbench, enemies don't target it primarily and it doesn't require being lit to prevent enemy spawns.
omg i died way away from my base area fuk
Just found a wooden great sword for training in a chest in an infested mine haha!!
i might be able to walk there not sure if the land seperates iots not to crazy far but it sucks
least my death let me find the merchant
Eh, you can't milk an ox.
And even if you could when it's a bull, it won't be milk....... 🤢
omg i made it back wasnt blocked by water
They're mammals. They breed and give birth to love young. If they were reptiles they would lay eggs when you breed them.
As long as you're not milking your dog I think we are good. Maybe boars milk?
if i lift soil around my base it would be un targetable?
You will still be targeted. Trolls will still be able to swing through the wall and damage buildings too close to it, and flying mobs will still be able to attack beyond the raised ground. Just make sure when you make your raised ground wall that you do it a little ways away from your base. Make a real nice compound!
Doesn't really concern me lol, they're not mammals and never will be due to them being a mix of something that is a mammal and something that isn't, with the latter being what the mob's body (not fur) is made of
They're fictional animals on a video game. They're definitely mammals though.
You can breed parrots in minecraft, cool, now parrots are mammals
I guess chickens are lizards.
Just cause something can breed does not make it a mammal in a game lol
Most random statement I've ever seen
It's a viviparous mammal.
Call it what you like, it still won't be a mammal :)
I don't see any oviparous traits.
Basic lizards
Got any lox eggs to trade?
Yeah I gotchu, didn't know you were an avid spawn eggs mod enjoyer
How about 2 star wolf eggs?
Can provide those too, just don't be fooled by their icon being chicken eggs, the creators couldn't be bothered but I support it still
nice, got the megingjord
I never really used the demolisher but by Odin's beard it smacks!
whoo got my first ever rancid remains trophy
I would just so very much like those hammers to have a regular attack combo, and then that ME SMASH thing could be the secondary. Then I would use them more. As is, they're very situational and mostly for cheezing stuff, which is a bit sad. I suppose they are far more useful in groups, since you'd have Mr Smash in charge of crowd control, while somebody else would be doing the damage dealing...
Sure, swinging a hammer the size of a volkswagen beetle around in regular attack patterns would be kinda unrealistic, but Valheim has never been much about that, eh
me and a friend just managed to kill Moder with just Bronze Spears, Iron Maces, and a dream
bcs we're too lazy to craft mountain tier equips
I pretty much never use the mountain tier equipment while in the mountains. Frostner sucks against most enemies up there, and the sword shines much later on, iirc I took Moder on with iron sword and huntsman bow with copious amounts of obsidian arrows...
And the Iron Mace is the dedicated tool for popping stone golems!
i only got in a frost cave afterwards to get some hairs for fenris armor
to my horror i ran into Geirrhafa down there, it was just a random frost cave the closest to our mountain base
on second look it was the Howling Cavern, and we havent ran into Hildir either lmao
It should have spawned Hugin to tell you its more dangerous than normal frost caves tho 🤔
no wonder everything in the cave got 1*
If raven hints are disabled then he won't warn.
Hugin did appear, it was our first frost cave we found so I didn't really pay attention thinking it was the norm upon finding a regular frost cave lmao
Yeah... But why silence him when he only tries to help
Continues anyway.
exactly
high energy i like it
longship crafted, time to set sail and look for traders
every other save i've found them before even needing to find them, but this time my starting island was super small 🙁
Rocky can talk? My whole life is a lie.
You didnt know that? 👀
yea i was buildin in a home and bro casually drops the fact that we are all gonna die and our time is set
Like thanks rocky have a great day
Um... yeah?
His most famous line is: ADREAAAAANNNNNN!
😏
In my defense i've been largely playing on worlds where i'm focused on bigger fish than collecting rocky 😏
Until you have rank 5, then there are not bigger fish
I bet 1.0 is gonna have a fishing achievement and i'm gonna finally have to learn how to catch those buggers 😔
Fishing achievement preventing getting 100% completion on the game?
Still gotta find 6 different 5 quality fish.
I just recently learned you can paddle a raft and have your fishing line out, so I have become a trawling fisherman.

lmao, fought the bros in bronze tier stuff, zil + thungr used 2/3 of the durability on the bronze sword
In sealed tower right?
Don't worry, large numbers of us are not natives either.
Hello everyone
ye
Some kind of testing or else?
nah just goofin around
it's pretty sketch tho cause basically everything one shots
do not recommend
Unless bit bored?
unless you cheese it all with ooze bombs
You can post in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 👍
It’s bronze tier
No ooze bombs in Bronze Age 😏
you can ooze your pants at any point in the game
@near furnace I saw that irongate and coffeestain sponsored my old class this year, really cool!!!!!
is there a mod that allows you to wear the armor you want but maybe transmog it to look like something else? or show other clothing as on the character while still wearing armor?
Someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966 might know.
ok how does the serving tray work?
i am holding a newly bought serving tray looking like a fool
Like a hammer but for building food pieces basically 🙂
hmm
Might be obvious to some but it took me a second to realize I had to tab over (RB/LB on controller) to set feasts down
is seafarer feast worth making? it requires 2 serpent meat
and serpent meat is kind of luxurious to get, so eating the meat cooked already give a lot of health boost
wait does serving tray stretch out a portion of food? so i can basically eat 10 carrot soup for the price of 1 carrot soup?
You trade 2 foods that last 25 minute each for a food that has 10 portions 50 minutes each 🙂 and with comparable total stats, feast gives total of 90 and cooked meat 93. So it just depends if you want lots of balanced food or bit of hp food
Yep, feasts have 10 portions for each craft 🙂
each with full stats of the feast and lasting 50 minutes each
my nearest mountain is so useless not even obsidian to be found... at least got some wolf furs, soundtrack is really good, might make a castle there some day 💙
note to self, wolves are weak to trolls :(
Should be good 🙂
what does vulkan do if i may ask?
also i found a dragon egg on my first expeditions into the meowtains :D
and a stone golem. i didn't take any chances attacking it
amd cards support vulkan better and basically vulkan puts more stress on the gpu therefore more fps
and i have an amd card but when i choose to play using vulkan it said valheim MIGHT crash on my system
Ah, true, i would still try it but save often just in case 🙂
Are some biomes longer/ more content heavy than others?
I was hoping the mist lands and firelands were longer than the previous
Some do have more content than others, but i would say its generally quite balanced 🙂
mistlands slow you down via the fog and the excessive need for tissue
ashlands swarms you until you croak
what
pita=pain in the butt
ah ty
I quite like the fog in mistlands, actually
Same 🙂 I dont really have problem with any biome really.
That's pitb.
Hello how are you doing
welp, i just sailed the sea and drowned when the leviathan i was mining on sunk and i couldnt swim to boat in time. Now imma risk facing serpent with a mere karve
and the ocean is storming too
On the karve your chances are good, just time your arrows well
On a raft however, it is best not to try..
I like the fog in mistlands, I would just like some better build options to clear larger bits of it. There's this dvergr lantern that appears around the Mistlands, like a wisplight on steroids, they should make that buildable.
is the Dyrnwyn even out? I cannot find these mysterious locations anywhere nor can I find the spawn finder in the putrid holes
Yep 🙂 you just have to look a bit more i fear
OH, I am fearful..
ok, thanks. wanted to be sure I wasn't wasting time and sanity 😄
You will find the locations eventually 😄
is it one sword per world kind of thing?
Yep
ok...
Unless you play with more resources 😄
Must be a cause of wars on multiplayer worlds
Add to that that it is kinda underwhelming, and it becomes a vanity project more than anything. I'll be hunting it since I'm a completionist, but I doubt I will ever use it. Unless it gets a proper buff.
Just...10 fire damage. Might as well spam fire arrows
So literally like mistwalker and spirit damage
Now, if that fire damage stacks, then maybe...
All the DoT damages except poison stack 🙂
Sorry not frost.. spirit
However you look at it, Dyrnwyn is pretty damn weak for all the trouble it is
Its kinda giving me vibes of Johnnys gun from CBP77
"Yall got any damage?"
"You dont need damage when u got aura......"
Yeah, is the nidhogg variants didnt have special effects and only the bonus elemental dmg they would be around equal, but they do have the special effects so...
finally found draugr village right next to skeleton arena
this would make pretty cool base spot also, right next to ocean
really even ground
planting a carrot only yeilds one carrot..?
i mean using a carrot itself and planting it as a seed
and can crops be harvestable but not fully grown?
They give you 3 seeds. So that's how you grow your crop sizes
also the farm skill sometime give more carrots/seeds
or more of whatever you are harvesting
Yeah, before long I get 5 to 10% bonus seeds. Wish foods would get that good as quickly
Yeah, the crafting and cooking skill just go slower, since you usually harvest WAAAAAY more stuff than you craft 😄
...skeleton arena? Now this makes me curious, something I definitely haven't seen yet!
Its a new meadows structure 😄 go explore!
I haven't seen them either, and I pretty much explore everything. So RNG is pretty low for them.
i wish we can use bear meat to make feast. after swamp tier bear meat is basically redundant
Yeah, didnt make a full new playthrough yet after CtA, but i would say they might be a bit rarer than draugr villages
If it is one place in meadows, there's a pretty big area to look in.
I have maybe half the total meadows covered so far on this world, so I have much left to explore 🙂
I pretty sure we will see upgrades.
Not necessarily only one place, its a POI like the mentioned draugr village for example 🙂
Like I said, I explore thoroughly. I highly enjoy just seeing my worlds
So RNG is at least as low as draugr villages.
i really wish
bear meat is still real useful in swamp tier as it can be slotted into the health food slot and the convenience of just not having to gather ingredient to cook it is nice
but after that any time seeing a bear is just a nuisance to run away from instead of rewarding creature to slay
It is exclusively base-loitering food and as such it has some use, but beyond that utterly useless. So at least a bear jerky would be nice, but since we already have boar and wolf jerky - a bear jerky at higher tier wouldn't make much sense, unless you make it with Royal Jelly and make it the Mistlands tier jerky...
I still use them to make coal, but it's going to be nice when they add another recipe or 3 to make it useful food until plains levels. They might leave it as is, but I highly doubt it.
Tbh, taht would not be a bad idea imo 😄 tho feasts cover most need for balanced food
But feasts you can't bring along, which is what the jerkys are good for - balanced food for travelling!
Yep yep 😄
Feasts last so long I don't need to carry them, just my portal mats.
i got so many deer hide, bear skin, bones that i need to buy the thunder stone to obliterate them into coal
I'm always thinking in no-portals terms, my perspective is slightly skewed
Stockpile the bones.
I also always carry food with me even tho i am going home almost every night 😄 its just convenient
For me, Wolf Skewer, Sausage and Bread is the ultimate combo. Because they all stack to 20. Awesome for exploration and long distance travel!
i feel like with the obliterator i should just put woods into it and turn it into coal instead of ever having the charcoal kiln
I can find these mysterious locations with valhiem-map? I've been all over these lands and can't even find the rune spawner.
Hmm, did you make the world before CtA update?
Yes, this world is very very old - But, I've never had an issue with updates.
Its just that the world generator is not always accurate after updates that messed with POI locations 🙂 try not to use the seed but input the world files into it, that way it will be always accurate.
Hahaha I heard this giggling from seaside and realised dang the fulings are after my longship, ran out and saw this warband of 10+ fulings - half of them with torches - marching with determination down my dock to destroy my poor boat.
Pretty sure it's not 1 to 1 with wood.
"NO WAIT THAT'S MY BOAT!!!"
Max 5 of them are generated in each world.
With the predictable "KILL YOUU!" response
Yep, 5:1 🙂
I must have built my place in some kind of spawn hot zone, there's so much bloody creatures all the time, non-stop
Main house and compound is spawn proof, but it seems I have to extend this
@merry pebble I may not always remember why I do or do not do things, but I know I have a reason. 😆
Yeah, going based on feeling is quite common for me too xD
obliterator is only 1:1 with trophies
Yep 😄 with few exceptions
Yeah, I don't use it often because it is very inaccurate. It's close though
close enough
Now, no matter the exact exchange rate of the obliterator - burning meat to coal in a cooking stand actually granting cooking procs makes the exchange rate superior anyway. If you can just spare a couple of seconds to hang up all those spare chunks of useless meat and let them roast while you do other stuff, you 1) get some cooking xp and 2) get moar coal than the obliterator would give. Win-win.
But, remember to not be a dumb little viking like me and go pick the meat off the cooking stand too early. You end up with stacks of cooked neck tails you have absolutely no use for...
At least I can put them in the obliterator 😄
Yeah, I've easily gotten 3 or 4 points burning meat into coal. 😄
Guilty as well! 😄 Obliterator for at least some salvage of a mistake.
Wolf taming: I’ve trapped a pair of wolves in a pit, I’m fairly sure they won’t despawn. What do I do now?
You throw them meat and wait 30 minutes 🙂
Wait. Use t he animal whisper mead.
Yep, if you can use that, it will cut the time in half 🙂
Oh, yeah, feeding is kind of important too.
Do they eat bear meat?
I dont think so, try boar, deer, neck tails or sausages
Can I throw a stack of meat in there or do I have to do one piece at a time?
Can be stack
I just tested this, I was able to activate the obliterator faster and gained +6 coal faster than meat was cooked.
Yeah, stack about 12 pieces for two.
3 should be enough for one if the timings are perfect, but usually at least a 4 for one is needed 🙂 so anything above 8 for two
If he has the mead, it will obviously be less needed.
Raw or cooked? Does it matter?
Doesent matter
Yeah, with mead 2 should be enough, since one piece lasts 10 minutes 🙂
Pretty sure I don’t have the mead. Do I need to get the recipe from the hag?
mead 2? Damn, I didnt even see Mead 1
Thing with the obliterator is that it kinda has to stand apart, so if all you're gaining is a bit of time, you're wasting that time running back and forth anyway. I'm using it more as a waste disposal than actually counting on it for anything
I have a campfire right inside my front door just for burning meat as I come and go.
Btw, I managed to get rid of all the two stars bad guys in the ashlands where I landed so now everything is more manageable
