it better let us still keep playing the save tho

fossil delta
#

I wish the visibility was less of an issue in Mistlands too.

#

Verticality is less of an issue with the meads we now have.

copper bramble
#

wisp light should be upgradable

orchid locust
#

I always assumed the wisplight is just a sort of fairy or some sort of living thing, whatever their concept of "life" is

#

can you "upgrade" a human? Or any living being, for that matter

merry pebble
#

This BF runestone talks about exactly this 🙂

"||I have been reborn many times in this world. I have died again and again only to awaken in my own house. Yet still I wonder how many more times I will return like this. Frida was taken by a serpent and her bed lies empty still. Bjarni was bitten in half by a troll and neither half has been seen since...
All around are the ruins of those who came before us but where are the hands that built them?
Perhaps, when a warrior loses the will to remain here, they can no longer return...||"

yeah, "failing" is literally not logging into the game 😂

copper bramble

there are so many gjalls in my mistlands area

i have a stack and a half of bile bombs

I have about 30.

coarse gust

From a buildlers pov, mistlands would be perfect if it had a 30/70 ratio of misty vs mist free terrain
Instead of the current 10/90 distribution

If i am building anything in the mistlands at ground level i end up making 2 or 3 worlds to find a suitable spot.

copper bramble

if i am building in the mistlands then you know i've been abducted and replaced by an impostor

fossil delta

I found a rather huge coast line area that had me thinking about building. I just have no real need with all the towers there.

i got me a full haul of iron in me longboat, hopefully i can make it back home safe

fossil delta

Hauling iron usually nets me the most serpent meat.

uncut bough

is max lvl fine bow good enough for swamp tier or do i need the huntsman bow?

i would say it is a waste of iron but i got like a longboat full of iron so i would be swimming in iron for a while

i got a lot of iron so i am thinking if huntsman bow is worth crafting

Meadows, Mountain, and Ashlands don't have atgeir.

fossil delta

So they like to skip every so often.

copper bramble

meadows is fair to not have an atgeir but mountains and ashlands...

gray sand
#

Not every biome needs every weapon.

#

Meadows, Forest, Ashlands don't have battleaxe.

copper bramble
#

but every biome has a club

#

why do clubs get special treatment

gray sand
#

Every biome has a club and an axe, and everything after Meadows has a sword, yes.

Every biome has every basic weapon.

copper bramble
#

club worshippers confirmed

gray sand

??????????????????????????

copper bramble

fossil delta

Probably because 2 handers tend to do more damage and better crowd control.

gray sand

I do normal hit, they are now out of reach.

#

GREAT weapon....

wintry valve
#

I think people who like frostner specifically like the knockback because its good for crowd control

copper bramble
gray sand
#

Yeah, but they are slowed over there... So now I have to walk.

wintry valve
#

have you tried hitting them with a wall?

copper bramble
#

yeah hold W for 0.3 seconds and then special attack

gray sand
#

Compared to every other weapon I could use where there is no holding W and I get another hit in during that 0.3s, killing the target faster.

gray sand
copper bramble
#

deep north two hander hammer with frost

#

could be fun

#

i want more frost weapons bc i crave that slowdown effect

gray sand
#

Just use green and slow them to zero.

wintry valve
#

I with two handed hammers behaved more like, say, a battleaxe. The ground slam move should be a secondary attack

gray sand
#

That too.

#

But the two-handed hammer being the "create space with massive knockback" weapon is a good identity if the one-handed maces didn't punt people.

#

One-handed secondary should punt, yes. But the primary should not.

copper bramble
#

i want the slow 100% of the time

copper bramble
gray sand
#

Axes and Spears are my mainstays.

copper bramble
#

spears for me in meadows/black forest

gray sand
#

Spear -> Spear -> Spear (Mace for Bonemass) -> Spear -> Plains with no Spear 😭

#

Spear + Buckler is just a vibe.

copper bramble
#

not every biome needs a certain weapon

gray sand
#

True.

fossil delta
#

I've never used an atgeir for a playthrough. Played around with them, but I just find them too odd.

copper bramble
#

atgeirs my beloved

gray sand
#

They save you an inventory slot by not needing a shield.

copper bramble
#

you can start the 3 hit combo earlier bc you have longer reach

copper bramble
gray sand
#

Two-handed swords finally got fixed.
Now they just need to fix one-handers.

fossil delta
#

I only use swords from plains onwards. Doubt I will ever use them for a full run.

copper bramble
#

i would like the 2 hander swords but i would have to grind the skill level up

gray sand
#

I mean... it's not really a chore. Getting Krom in Mistlands and you'll naturally put really good levels on it just from... being in the Mistlands.

copper bramble
#

next run

#

i wouldn't switch bc i have almost 90 in polearms

fossil delta

I have pretty high skill i. Several weapon.

gray sand

#

Smiffe I swear to Odin if that isn't an achievement in 1.0.....

copper bramble
#

i don't care about achievements

#

i have almost 2k hours in another game and i've been sitting at 80% achievement completion bc the last ones are bs

gray sand
#

Oh I rarely 100% games.

copper bramble
#

well the game i have 2k in is one of those that can't be 100% completed like singleplayer games

#

it's deep rock galactic, every game/mission is randomly generated and no two are ever alike

#

comparable to "100% minecraft means you do everything in every seed"

#

valheim is in the similar category, random seeds with tons to do. building, challenges etc

fossil delta
#

I don't care about achievements. If I get them, I get them. If not, so what?

copper bramble
#

the only way i'd get 100 in all skills is with commands

#

i hate grinding so i could never

#

i have better things to do

fossil delta

Me neither.

fossil delta

There is grinding, then there is grinding all skills to 100. Never going to do it.

copper bramble
#

valheim isn't a grinding simulator type of game

gray sand
copper bramble
#

if any survival game with resource gathering is a grinding game then like what

gray sand
copper bramble
wintry valve
#

the grind in valheim can be beat by doing strategies

gray sand
#

The entire loop is:
Grind biome materials -> Build biome stuff -> Kill biome boss.
Go next and repeat.

gray sand
copper bramble
wintry valve
#

the skill grind, not so much. Besides, I'd say you arent meant to max out certain skills.

gray sand

Where did I mention "move items" in the loop? 🤔

copper bramble
#

i edit world modifiers to reduce time spent on grinding

#

you play on 0.5x resources?

gray sand
#

No? Just 1x.

copper bramble
#

on 1x it takes a bit too long to get stuff for my liking

#

1.5x resources and portal items. thst's how i bare the "grind"

#

it doesn't feel like grinding then, that's why i like the game

#

if it actually felt like grinding i would stop playing

rugged bridge

Not to mention you can already deconstruct carts, there's just no reason you shouldn't be able to do the same with boats, it's not like you're gonna put a workbench on the ocean surface and accidentally deconstruct it lol

chrome badge
rugged bridge

I really don't see it, you can't accidentally break it down with a hammer unless you're in workbench range

Right, if you're repairing your boat after an attack, you could misclick and drop hours of work into the ocean. Adding a couple seconds for deconstruction is helping to prevent that.

Friendly NPCs were an enjoyable addition

Yeah, maybe some way to interact a bit deeper with them. So many players have suggested a way to stop their aggression if you anger them.

ember egret
#

I severely underestimated how hard playing without the map is

neon magnet
#

I'm considering doing that. Feels like it would be nice in a lot of ways. The world likely feels much more mysterious etc

#

But then I go "it makes sense that my character would at least try to map things out - so me drawing a map of my own outside of the game makes sense". And then I go "but if me doing that makes sense, why not let the character do that on their own.. which kind of is what the ingame map is"

I know it's not exactly the same tho. Ingame map is exact and in addition to the map you also have the GPS functionality of it 😄

pliant hatch
#

I've seen someone use a mod that would give players the option to play without map; however, they are able to bring up a stylistic one at the cartography table.

Meaning you can study your map at home, but not when you're away.
Kinda feels like the best of both worlds to me.

I'm certain that players in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966 could help with that any better.

ember egret

there's now actually a point to doing that rather than doing it just for the aesthetic

plush umbra

Helps to use frost staff and dodge mobs and take out spawners near where u land

#

It'll slow down mobs if they get to close as well

#

If u see askvin early just run tbh

wintry valve
#

an askvin is the least of my issues now

#

im being chased by two stars warriors

plush umbra
#

But ive noticed it basically doesn't work on askvin hence why I said that

#

But a frost staff allows u to slow enemies and take out spawners quick

#

About 100 eitir nonstop frost staff firing at it should put a 2* warrior down

#

If u hit 99% ur shots anyway gotta be a little close

#

But you can walk around them as u do it and they cant find ur hitbox

there's finewood in the mistland, plains, meadows

merry pebble

Finewood is found in Meadows and Plains. And sometimes in the Black Forest and Swamp if you're able to destroy either furniture or a shipwreck.

I would just so very much like those hammers to have a regular attack combo, and then that ME SMASH thing could be the secondary. Then I would use them more. As is, they're very situational and mostly for cheezing stuff, which is a bit sad. I suppose they are far more useful in groups, since you'd have Mr Smash in charge of crowd control, while somebody else would be doing the damage dealing...

In my defense i've been largely playing on worlds where i'm focused on bigger fish than collecting rocky 😏

Until you have rank 5, then there are not bigger fish kappa

I bet 1.0 is gonna have a fishing achievement and i'm gonna finally have to learn how to catch those buggers 😔

I just recently learned you can paddle a raft and have your fishing line out, so I have become a trawling fisherman.

is there a mod that allows you to wear the armor you want but maybe transmog it to look like something else? or show other clothing as on the character while still wearing armor?

ok how does the serving tray work?

i am holding a newly bought serving tray looking like a fool

uncut bough

hmm

nocturne sage
#

Might be obvious to some but it took me a second to realize I had to tab over (RB/LB on controller) to set feasts down

uncut bough
#

is seafarer feast worth making? it requires 2 serpent meat

#

and serpent meat is kind of luxurious to get, so eating the meat cooked already give a lot of health boost

#

wait does serving tray stretch out a portion of food? so i can basically eat 10 carrot soup for the price of 1 carrot soup?

merry pebble
uncut bough
#

ok food does not work like that, only feasts

#

damn

merry pebble
#

Yep, feasts have 10 portions for each craft 🙂

#

each with full stats of the feast and lasting 50 minutes each

my nearest mountain is so useless not even obsidian to be found... at least got some wolf furs, soundtrack is really good, might make a castle there some day 💙

should i play valheim using vulkan

#

or is it still unstable

merry pebble
#

Should be good 🙂

idle spade

what does vulkan do if i may ask?
also i found a dragon egg on my first expeditions into the meowtains :D

#

and a stone golem. i didn't take any chances attacking it

hearty egret

and i have an amd card but when i choose to play using vulkan it said valheim MIGHT crash on my system

merry pebble

Ah, true, i would still try it but save often just in case 🙂

Are some biomes longer/ more content heavy than others?
I was hoping the mist lands and firelands were longer than the previous

sharp bluff

they kinda are

#

not necessarily more content, just more of a pita

merry pebble

Some do have more content than others, but i would say its generally quite balanced 🙂

mistlands slow you down via the fog and the excessive need for tissue
ashlands swarms you until you croak

welp, i just sailed the sea and drowned when the leviathan i was mining on sunk and i couldnt swim to boat in time. Now imma risk facing serpent with a mere karve

On the karve your chances are good, just time your arrows well

#

On a raft however, it is best not to try..

Add to that that it is kinda underwhelming, and it becomes a vanity project more than anything. I'll be hunting it since I'm a completionist, but I doubt I will ever use it. Unless it gets a proper buff.

tiny mortar

Im sure itll come in handy in DN

#

Just like Mistlands stuff if useful in AL

heady parcel

Just...10 fire damage. Might as well spam fire arrows

tiny mortar

So literally like mistwalker and spirit damage

heady parcel

All the DoT damages except poison stack 🙂

heady parcel

"You dont need damage when u got aura......"

Yeah, is the nidhogg variants didnt have special effects and only the bonus elemental dmg they would be around equal, but they do have the special effects so...

jovial sleet
#

planting a carrot only yeilds one carrot..?

#

i mean using a carrot itself and planting it as a seed

#

and can crops be harvestable but not fully grown?

fossil delta
#

They give you 3 seeds. So that's how you grow your crop sizes

wintry valve
#

also the farm skill sometime give more carrots/seeds

#

or more of whatever you are harvesting

fossil delta
#

Yeah, before long I get 5 to 10% bonus seeds. Wish foods would get that good as quickly

merry pebble
#

Yeah, the crafting and cooking skill just go slower, since you usually harvest WAAAAAY more stuff than you craft 😄

fossil delta
#

Yep.

#

Arrows and building help a lot with crafting.

heady parcel
#

...skeleton arena? Now this makes me curious, something I definitely haven't seen yet!

merry pebble
#

Its a new meadows structure 😄 go explore!

fossil delta
#

I haven't seen them either, and I pretty much explore everything. So RNG is pretty low for them.

uncut bough
#

i wish we can use bear meat to make feast. after swamp tier bear meat is basically redundant

merry pebble
#

Yeah, didnt make a full new playthrough yet after CtA, but i would say they might be a bit rarer than draugr villages

heady parcel
#

If it is one place in meadows, there's a pretty big area to look in.

#

I have maybe half the total meadows covered so far on this world, so I have much left to explore 🙂

fossil delta
merry pebble
#

Not necessarily only one place, its a POI like the mentioned draugr village for example 🙂

fossil delta
#

Like I said, I explore thoroughly. I highly enjoy just seeing my worlds
So RNG is at least as low as draugr villages.

uncut bough
#

bear meat is still real useful in swamp tier as it can be slotted into the health food slot and the convenience of just not having to gather ingredient to cook it is nice

#

but after that any time seeing a bear is just a nuisance to run away from instead of rewarding creature to slay

heady parcel
#

It is exclusively base-loitering food and as such it has some use, but beyond that utterly useless. So at least a bear jerky would be nice, but since we already have boar and wolf jerky - a bear jerky at higher tier wouldn't make much sense, unless you make it with Royal Jelly and make it the Mistlands tier jerky...

fossil delta
#

I still use them to make coal, but it's going to be nice when they add another recipe or 3 to make it useful food until plains levels. They might leave it as is, but I highly doubt it.

merry pebble
#

Tbh, taht would not be a bad idea imo 😄 tho feasts cover most need for balanced food

heady parcel
merry pebble
#

Yep yep 😄

fossil delta
#

Feasts last so long I don't need to carry them, just my portal mats.

uncut bough
#

i got so many deer hide, bear skin, bones that i need to buy the thunder stone to obliterate them into coal

heady parcel
#

I'm always thinking in no-portals terms, my perspective is slightly skewed

merry pebble
#

I also always carry food with me even tho i am going home almost every night 😄 its just convenient

heady parcel
#

For me, Wolf Skewer, Sausage and Bread is the ultimate combo. Because they all stack to 20. Awesome for exploration and long distance travel!

uncut bough
#

i feel like with the obliterator i should just put woods into it and turn it into coal instead of ever having the charcoal kiln

static sentinel
#

I can find these mysterious locations with valhiem-map? I've been all over these lands and can't even find the rune spawner.

merry pebble
static sentinel
merry pebble

Hahaha I heard this giggling from seaside and realised dang the fulings are after my longship, ran out and saw this warband of 10+ fulings - half of them with torches - marching with determination down my dock to destroy my poor boat.

fossil delta

"NO WAIT THAT'S MY BOAT!!!"

merry pebble

I must have built my place in some kind of spawn hot zone, there's so much bloody creatures all the time, non-stop

#

Main house and compound is spawn proof, but it seems I have to extend this

fossil delta
merry pebble
#

Yeah, going based on feeling is quite common for me too xD

heady parcel
merry pebble
static sentinel
#

close enough

heady parcel
#

Now, no matter the exact exchange rate of the obliterator - burning meat to coal in a cooking stand actually granting cooking procs makes the exchange rate superior anyway. If you can just spare a couple of seconds to hang up all those spare chunks of useless meat and let them roast while you do other stuff, you 1) get some cooking xp and 2) get moar coal than the obliterator would give. Win-win.

#

But, remember to not be a dumb little viking like me and go pick the meat off the cooking stand too early. You end up with stacks of cooked neck tails you have absolutely no use for...

#

At least I can put them in the obliterator 😄

fossil delta
#

Yeah, I've easily gotten 3 or 4 points burning meat into coal. 😄

fossil delta
slate grove

Wolf taming: I’ve trapped a pair of wolves in a pit, I’m fairly sure they won’t despawn. What do I do now?

merry pebble
#

You throw them meat and wait 30 minutes 🙂

fossil delta
#

Wait. Use t he animal whisper mead.

merry pebble
#

Yep, if you can use that, it will cut the time in half 🙂

fossil delta
#

Oh, yeah, feeding is kind of important too.

slate grove
#

Do they eat bear meat?

merry pebble
#

I dont think so, try boar, deer, neck tails or sausages

fossil delta
#

I don't think they did.

#

Not cooked bear either.

slate grove
#

Can I throw a stack of meat in there or do I have to do one piece at a time?

merry pebble
#

Can be stack

chrome badge
fossil delta
#

Yeah, stack about 12 pieces for two.

merry pebble
#

3 should be enough for one if the timings are perfect, but usually at least a 4 for one is needed 🙂 so anything above 8 for two

fossil delta
#

If he has the mead, it will obviously be less needed.

slate grove
#

Raw or cooked? Does it matter?

merry pebble
merry pebble
slate grove
#

Pretty sure I don’t have the mead. Do I need to get the recipe from the hag?

wintry valve
#

mead 2? Damn, I didnt even see Mead 1

heady parcel
#

Thing with the obliterator is that it kinda has to stand apart, so if all you're gaining is a bit of time, you're wasting that time running back and forth anyway. I'm using it more as a waste disposal than actually counting on it for anything

fossil delta
#

I have a campfire right inside my front door just for burning meat as I come and go.

wintry valve

Btw, I managed to get rid of all the two stars bad guys in the ashlands where I landed so now everything is more manageable
