The yggdrasil trees you mean?
Have used Trollstav solely for clearing them dvergr towers safely but haven't tried chopping/mining Mistlands materials with it.
Both the trees and petrified bone
I tried using trollstav and just got a bunch of stone
The best thing about the Trollstav and Wild staff is that they don't require upgrading to be strong.
Trollstav only increases its durability since the maximum of 2 trolls doesn't change and while upgrading Wild staff increases the damage of the projectile it doesn't affect to the damage the roots deal, it depends on elemental magic skill level.
Good to know. I don't use magic at all usually, but the utility of the Trollstav seems to be to great to ignore, so I know what to use my next red gem for...
must upgrade thy fancy shoes
Troll stave is honestly so good itโs almost op ๐ฅณ
You, the glass cannon, has lost the one stave that shall safe guard your life while in full magely outfits???
For shame on you! ๐
smack smack
My fancy shoes are fancy enough thank you! ๐๐ซ
Mageplayer who doesn't use Staff of Protection is someone who is searching for trouble.
Shield that takes all damage before HP and prevents getting staggered is surely strong defensive layer.
You arenโt playing properly if you need to constantly re-use that bubble
Donโt think like a knight in shining armor - think like a mage and bomb the ever loving Hel out of everything from a safe distance ๐ฅ
If it is close enough to hit back, you are doing something wrong
Ugh, keeping wolves in the house is all cosy and stuff, but their tendency to all get stuck in the stairwell is pissing me off. After all that effort to collect them I am very close to just kicking them out and let them roam the forest instead.
Nah I'm not gonna eat them, the hunted event provides enough meat on its own ๐
This is why I am unfit to play wizard-viking. I'm the kind of player who was hitting the kobolds with my staff when playing mage in World of Warcraft. It was the same when I tried the mage stuff out in Mistlands. Out of eitr - oshit-here-come-the-seekers-eeeek aaaand the mage stuff was promoted to decorations...
On another note - just wondering if I'm the oddball here - how many out there actively go after the half grown beech saplings in Meadows before cutting down actual trees? I tend to only ever cut down a few grown trees, while the meadows near my base tend to resemble a well-kept park after a while, cleared of underbrush, stubs and fallen logs. It has the benefit of not requiring you to cut up logs - or indeed pose a threat to your life when cutting it. Takes only a little more time and there's so much of these saplings around that they pretty much never run out. Between that and a tree farm, nearly all my meadows are still pristine 1,600 days into this world...
Most of all, I simply don't like the look of deforestation that comes from chopping down every damn tree in sight.
I like leaving the saplings, they make it look more natural. I can replant beech relatively randomly and make it look natural, I can't replant those, or the bushes. I only clear them if I want the area clear/near a base, whatever.
Me personally I think Valheim would look better if there were randomly generated huge walmart parking lots in the meadows
๐
Haha that's easy to arrange though, the powa of the Hoe - and grausten has that flat, featureless concrete look!
A little bonus of removing the saplings is that you can see nightspawn baddies coming from far away even with most of the trees still in place. Nighstpawned fuling gangs in Black Forest are a true menace, they blend in so well with the surroundings you don't realise they're there before a spear hits you in the face. They don't even giggle, sneaky buggers.
I want to say no
Wdym you want to say no ๐ญ
90% sure the answer is no
๐ญ
I'm 100% sure ๐
Wiki says pufferfish are found offshore in Mistlands, but I find they're pretty much all over Ocean, or am I imagining things? Maybe mostly Ocean in the Mistlands range from the map center?
I think they spawn in both biomes
You can find them in the ocean biome sometimes but not as much as coral cods
Can confirm, no. Quality doesn't matter.
Is the size relevant?
Like 1 star vs 5 star
Might mean higher dps uptime for the larger 5 star
All pufferfish deal the same amount of poison damage.
yes, but a larger pufferfish would mean larger hit detection, so if an enemy moves around or what not, I'm just curious if 5 star would theoretically be better because it would get more hits in overall due to increased size
i think it still wouldnt be worth it, the time investment it would take to find multiple 5 rank puffers would be crazy
yea for sure, i'm just curious about the fact
some fish are weirdly misleading, ill see them and be like " wow that fish is huge! "
then its just rank 2 or 3
Notably, they need Misty bait, like the Anglerfish, which I think is why they are classified as Mistlands fish even though they can appear in the ocean.
Yep
like a rank 3 tetra looks massive in the small pond that is in the cave
Though Irongate might change the pufferfish to take heavy bait aswell
It's good that they use misty bait IMO, since they are easier to craft than heavy because how rare the Serpent trophies can be.
That'd be what, 3 fish that require heavy bait? That seems like a lot, especially in light of the serpent trophy issue.
Oh yeah that too, having another option to fish them is nice aswell
pufferfish has some uses, particularly in making farms
I'm just happy I've got a rank 3 Coral Cod on my wall in this playthrough and I haven't crafted heavy bait yet ๐
My boi just yeeted himself in the boat like a free gift
It was actually on shore, I've got a nice peninsula by my 3-stone-pillar base that they regularly beach themselves on.
As much as I want to get the fishing hat I dont wanna go to the deep north just to get a northen salmon
It'll load it in the deep north map
Yeah. I've done it in another world, but I'm not doing it on this one.
I did it on the far left so only a small portion is loaded. I' personally curious if it will make Minecraft style chunk borders XD
Tho with Ashland's I'm actually pretty sure it erased and re-generated them so you can't have modern ashlands connected to other biomes even if you geberate a land connection in an older version then update back, the land would re-sever. (I think)
yes
Not near as much as bow skill tho
For science?
Summoned trolls are hostile to everything. That includes you.
I dunno. I've never used it, only see others using it. But I assume it works similar to the Deadraisor. Which would mean, yes.
The wiki most likely got more info on that subject.
Upgrading only increases durability, but no else perks.
2 trolls can be summoned at the same time.
They drop in front of you, so you can run back a bit after casting.
They are useful.
i recommend carrying an ice staff with you for troll extermination after they deal with the hoards
I think they've done most of the terraforming for the Deep North that they intend... with the Ashlands you used to be able to have land bridges, which is why they did the terrain regeneration. You'll probably just have an area of the current content locked in where you've explored, like what happened to the old Mistlands areas back in the day.
It'll be cool. Maybe even advantageous is something useful spawns in a completely unobstructed area.
Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about it ๐ Just predicting what is likely based on what's happened so far in the game, and knowing they did Deep North and Ashlands terrain gen changes at the same time.
I wonder what the point of dverger stakewalls are? They seem entirely too expensive, ashwood stakes are better & more compact, and they require a black forge to repair lest they degrade to nothing.
Yea they're giga weird
So you know how you get the summon text when you summon a boss? Like 'The Queen wants it all' and 'The Elder Awakens' I like to imagine when something is attacking my base they get 'The bees are not happy' just before I sprint at them.
You can make dvergr stakewalls before you get ashwood though, yeah? But in general I find there's no real use for the dvergr stakes unless you just like the look, they do the same damage as the regular stakes with much less renewable materials.
They do more knockback and have more durability, but I don't think it's quite enough to make them worthwhile
"The bees are not happy" sounds more like something that should pop up the moment your hives are under attack.
Followed by "The bees are furious and charge!" when the hive is under attack for too long.
Black metal is everywhere in the plains. I'm always swimming in it. But...why would I plop a black forge down just to build and maintain them repeatedly when I can use a workbench to use compact ashwood instead?
I mean... they're meant to be placed around bases, not just randomly? Also, dvergr stakes require iron and yggdrasil wood, not blackmetal... hence the non renewable comment I made. I guess I'm not sure what point you're trying to make? Ashwood stakes are superior, but you don't get access to them until you get to the Ashlands... before then, there's a small niche for the dvergr stakes, or if you like the look of them
Oh, I could have sworn it was black metal.
Random thought. Isn't consuming Sausages technically cannibalism?
Yes
Kinda makes you question ||why there's sausages in the infested mines.||
Hello
Because ||it's not cannibalism if the dverger eat humans.||
I wasn't saying it was, but ||it still has some implications.||
I'd chalk it up to Scale Theory. In-universe other creatures probably have entrails. But gameplay wise sausage is too powerful to have in medows/black forest.
Although if only humans have them, hmm they exist in the fist caves so you could presume the cultists ate captives, and I think they exist in the Morgen caves, so if only humans have them as we the player know them, that has grusome implications for thoes two dungeons.
Do the devs ever plan on adding achievements
Yep, they are planned for 1.0 ๐
Indeed, Deep North and 1.0 will be one update
Awesome
I just found myself my base plains boarding the mistlands
4 roots
all in close proximity
certainly making a base there
Very nice! ๐
I'll show the screen shot in a sec
just gotta clear the area of mist
Having a plains base boarding a mistland area with 4 roots is so nice because less travel time to each farm
all farms are in one portal destination
are ashalnds everywhere or specifc direction
Only in south-most part of the world
#screenshots message @heady parcel Yeah thats how all spawns are generated ๐ they have a "star" of meadows in the middle so other biomes around (mostly BF) will protrude like that
Think of the ashlands as like hell
its down below
In the north of the map is Deep north ๐

Thats the deep north
Asatru is it just me or grausten structure give so much grausten
They also cost quite a bit ๐
The bigger ones yep
the queen was suprisingly easy wtf
You used magic?
I mean you are playing mods so you might have used unbalanced weapons
nah
nah, not that either
The queen is difficult even with magic or melee
Not particularly true.
Magic is way easier than melee from my experience, but i still preffer melee ๐
the mod we have is practicly a lil expansion of vanilla but also makes it alot harder
Its a mod, nothing to do with vanilla ๐
^ he mentioned it not mre
You're blaming him for you using mods?
all i said that the queen was easy
then yall started bringing up that i play a modded session and using unballanced weapons
Well, just Black.
I missed the queen fight with the group I've played with๐ข But they also said it was really quick and easy. No mods and on normal difficulty.
Oh in group it really can be quite quick and easy ๐
we had 3 melee and 1 mage
Would explain why you called it easy ๐
-# And tbh you might have just said that instead of acusing us of stuff ๐
I think the group went in with either 1 mage, 1 ranged and 1 melee or 1 mage and 2 melee.
I find the queen to be absolute bullshit in term of difficulty and its the only boss I never beat "legit"
what did i accuse yall of?
defamation and jaywalking
I dunno, whats going on?
I don't know either.
i didnt bring up modded tho, the chat did
chat, is this real?
I wonder how tiny mosquitoes can deal so much damage to tamed lox?
now knowing it yeah my bad
She is not that bad ๐ can be a long fight if you get unlucky with her burrowing away tho
She is as bad as I experienced her
They are called DEATHsquitos for a reason ๐
I find Fader way better than the queen. At least he gives me time to react and a mistake isnt instant megadeath to me
I still remember my first queen kill in my 3-man round. While the two warriors were out there dealing with the bulk of it, I was cowering at the entrance sending skeletts and making blood shields, occasionally coming out to throw a fireball here & there.
Enemy damage is balanced around the armor a player will be wearing, and other enemies can't wear armor.
It's more of how silly it seems, really.
I feel like some enemies should have armor tho
loxes have thick fur, and likely thicc skin
And stuff like, say, charred warriors have literal armor on
That would make knives and other low damage per hit weapons/attacks so much worse with how armor works in Valheim
That is true.
And it means the numbers aren't as big when we hit something

Then again theres a way to adjust that, and it introduces new dynamics.
In general, our steeds could use some fancy armor to keep them around.
But for me, I could use just one damn queen vegvisir. So few mines found, and none of them have had one.
Mad respect to the people that managed to find a 2 star askvin this search is crazy hard
shit visibility at night in the ashlands doesnt help
ive found my share of 2 star morgens and 1 star askvins for days
I won't even bother, I'm not going outdoors in Ashlands at night, <bleep> that. One star is quite sufficient for my needs...
Hehe
if i get one all the slaps ive gotten from morgens will be kinda worth
all these years and we still cant craft directly out of storage without a mod?
Call me crazy, but I like getting into a melee with a morgen.
Just walked too far looking for fortresses, realised too late that it was about to be night, on my way back I run into two one-star asksvin just as a screeching thing decends from the sky. Good thing I had ratatosk tonic and still use the asksvin suit. Runnnn runnnn forrest!
Sounds like you encountered the big bad bird
If I saw that 2** asksvin I would have dropped what I was doing and would try capturing that asksvin
Because the devs don't want us to, which is fine by me.
I hate them, if they at least dropped something useful. Got like 50 feathers already and as far as I know I'll only ever need about 12...
What is the "benefit" or additional enjoyment theyre aiming for with it I wonder.
I don't think there is one. It's just how they want their game.
They have a vision for what the game is supposed to be, that you don't share it 100% does not make it right or wrong, it's just the way it is.
I never said it was wrong, Just curious why is all. Feels kinda shitty tbh , still top teir game
I got timed out for something something and im not sure which word it was >:
and I dont want to try them out
Just turn off build cost if it bothers you imo
In a practical sense, making systems like that means additional programming to read what is in storage nearby etc etc and for a feature that is not really necessary it is programming better spent on more interesting things.
Good point
Did you try making your text bigger?
Again, it's a design decision not a programming issue.
A modder only needs to take whatever they're trying to do into account, the devs need to keep the entire game working and avoid breaking stuff when adding other stuff.
no, I just said a zoomer word and the word for not wearing armor. Please dont try them words. It upsets the bots.

Indeed, just saying not adding that kinda QoL has side benefits ๐
Rafts exist for the serenity of fishing off shore in medows
And for those sorry souls who get starter islands without Black Forest...
Thankfully quite rare.
You can make ladder docks for them aswell
I use rafts as ferryboats where I don't want to build bridges since I need to sail through
They can fit in a 4x4 square meter area
They can fit in a chest too
Just a bit annoyed that the damn raft will capsize if I trying getting a fully loaded cart on board
Creative mode takes most the fun out of the game. Just feels a bit dated is all. Ill survive , was just curious if theyve mentioned it.
Amateur, you need to make enough rafts in a row to walk across the body of water ๐ค
-# Sorry for name calling, i dont mean it ofc ๐
Dated? I'll bite. Why?
Crafting from containers is the slippery slope to automation which takes ALL the fun out of the game.
You should see my current world... the stones are on a very small island you can barely swim to a main shore from, only if you raise your swimming ability a bit and get some food going ๐
Is it a slipper slope? Ive not seen that happen it other games. Enshrouded , V rising, Once Human , Dune all do it. All games that copied the Valheim formula imo
Lol, copied the Valheim formula. That's...hilarious.
A raft cant fit in a damn chest ๐ญ
How so?
Not even odin would approve
Of course it can.
Where do you store YOUR boats?
IM TALKING ABOUT THE RAFT, NOT THE 3 OTHER LARGE BOATS
Easy on the caps there fella.
Yes I put my mats for boats in my chest
At a dock.
Ugh. I have gained more confidence to roam around Ashlands. It also means I have come closer to getting slaughtered a lot more than before, who would have thought taking more risks meant dying more...?
Im just talking about the raft specifically bc it can fit in a 4x4 area of space so you can put it in your dock so its a make shift ladder
underneath the structure of your dock
Get asksvins asap
are you supposed to wall off your dvergr extractors or just stick em in?
I have a whole herd of them. Not using them to ride anymore though, they just run off and get killed to leave me stranded
Enemies wont attack em unlike other certain buildables
so its safe to keep them in the open
though just keep a workbench nearby incase it gets broken by a gjall or seeker soldier whilst your getting it
the mats might despawn
that's very weird, i'm asking bc one day my extractors just disappeared
Where you like in the area of the extractors?
Anything throwing aoe damage around might be responsible. Gjall, seeker soldiers, dvergr mages... A gjall vs dvergr fight nearby could level a whole base if you're unlucky.
Yeah that
nah, i had a portal a 2 min run away and a workbench around, tho
Thats why you should have a workbench safe from enemies so that if the extractors did get destroyed the mats atleast wont despawn
Fair
Cooking skill is kind of a shadow buff to oven foods since you have 2 chances for extra to proc โค๏ธ
putting shadow buff and cooking in the same sentence is kind of wild
Speaking of cooking I did some late game rearranging of my cooking building, 4 or five fewer wood cookers and 1 more iron cooker.
OP cooking offensive build
Pov: you're the teams main cook
Venison, ham, and honey all the way if they forced me into that spot
Its not that hard, plus you're getting alot of praise, because farming takes alot of time especially when its multiplayer
takes about 2-3 days ingame for your crops to fully grow
Farming skill is nice too, getting extra harvest boosts.
Oh, how I wish there was a more compact version of the Drakkar. Love the thing's high health, but damn, it is fat.
Yup. The Drakar is the whale among the ships, the Longboat is the shark and the Karve is the dolphin.
The raft is like a carp
Valheim can I use your music for a video I made
there's no reason to use the drakkar once you've used it to get to the ashlands
Itโs pretty cumbersome. I donโt think it was ever envisioned to replace the longship anyways. It has a niche, and it fills it well.
i used it for one 5 minute boat ride to the ashlands and it's been sitting there at the shore ever since, kinda sad imo
If Iโm being nit picky, I wish there was something in place that kinda made the player sail back to their base and then give access to stone portals? I think that couldโve been super interesting ๐ค
But I donโt mind the Drakkar. It does its thing, then thatโs that.
It's okay that the Drakkar is sluggish to turn, since it is the biggest boat, but just HOW slowly it turns is simply ridiculous. I have steered ships over 300 meters long that were more maneuverable. A relatively small sailing vessel has no business being sluggish like a supertanker. I understand they want the cargo capacity to come with a drawback, but sheesh it is way overdone.
It would turn faster if it had a keel rudderโฆ but Vikings didnโt have those soโฆ
That's actually one thing I would eventually consider changing with mods.
Even with a steering oar you'll turn a moderately sized ship way faster than the drakkar. Same steering oar on the longship and the Drakkar is not THAT much bigger. Besides, keel rudders aren't that superior before you have propeller water streaming over them.
Moving or at rest?
Moving. It is fairly accurate with the ship dead in the water. I would not want to try and paddle a Drakkar irl with the steering oar, gods. There's a word for that but I forgot it, dang.
But changing direction on a small vessel is easier with oars, a keel rudder needs movement through the water.
If moving then yes a keel rudder would be a lot better because on the drakkar youโre steering from an elevated position, since youโre farther from the water it will take more energy to control the rudder. Also the drakkar is covered in compressed rock and donโt get me started on the sail.
Aye, especially with a team of oarsmen, but all we have is one paddle.
Hehe yeah- and I'm okay with it being slow to turn, but sheesh, effectively turning the top tier ship into a one use disposable landing craft is a wee bit too much.
That would be awesome
Eh, I'd far rather travel with a drakkar in a thunderstorm than a viking longship.
I don't think it's possible for the Drakkar to outright capsize just from bad weather. I've definitely had that happen in a viking longship though, and I know the Karve can definitely capsize
Sure it's big and kinda unwieldy, but with some practice maneuvering it it's not that bad.
Stone portal was a mistake
Nah. It just became useless with the modifier.
In what way?
By definition of looks, the enemies, the bosses, the amount of combat required, the weapons and / or armor you unlock?
There are many ways to consider a biome worse.
When it comes to that they're all equal to me. Meadows is fun as a new character because you need to adapt to the fact that you're not that powerful anymore; Ashlands is fun because it's a challenge.
Each biome has a slight "lesson" which will help you in the next biome.
For the meadows that's facing the raids. While the Eikthyr raid doesn't sound challenging - it's mostly boars, necks and greylings after all - the fact you have to face multiple opponents at once is a challenge one won't expect in a tutorial area.
The Black Forrest teaches that you will need patience to get all the required materials, it'll teach you there are bigger monsters as you thought out there and it'll teach you that you will have to make a choice which weapons and armor to use.
The swamp teaches us that it isn't always good weather and that the weather is having a negative effect on one of the most important aspects of your game. It also teaches us about having to deal with more damage types as just being hit by something.
The mountains teach us that we aren't safe anywhere. Not on our base, not while exploring.
The plains teach us to be vigilant, but also not to rely on sight alone. Otherwise the last thing you hear is "Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt"......
The Mistlands teach us that visibility isn't everything. Sometimes you need to rely on other senses to survive, just like the plains. But it also teaches us new methods to fight things.
The Ashlands teaches us about war and how hard things will be when you are thrown into it.
Each of these are fun to discover, fun to deal with and fun to overcome the handicap they are, eventually resulting in another boss being brought down and one more trophy being hung at the sacrificial stones.
That is very well said.
This is such a fun game. Im just kind of wrapping up an 800 day playthrough. Any other fun twists on the game, something like speedrunning. not sure im willing to do hardcore/no portals
I'd say the meadows is too short to teach raids. Meadows teaches fundamentals and collector's anxiety
Go fishing and get a cool hat
Comes down to personal preference, but I really hate the lack of visibility in the Mistlands, and the Ashlands are unrelenting in terms of enemy spawns.
TLDR: Most stuff is pretty easy until Mistlands, and it's all downhill from there imo
Or just simply start again (: always fun to play through again
got the fishing hat and played through the game four or five times. I might go make some fishing ponds
There's always mods of course. You can do a lot with them to expand the available content and rebalance the game.
Oh fair, thought it was ur first 800 day playthrough
One of my goals is to make every armor and weapon max level, and to catch the complete collection of fish ( all tiers 1-5 of every fish)
That should keep me quite busy for a while
I too dream of having a completed armory and bestiary on display someday
i want to try leveling some weapon types I dont normally use. I loved the fists/fenring set but they were only really in one tier
Yea last playthrough I collected every trophy, but Iโm working on a forever world that I want to do the entire thing, collect everything
Oh yea you could go down that leveling route, level all skills to 100
That should take some time
Shoot an ice golem for 12 hours with a frost staff
The war truly never ends in the ashlands
Once a viking has entered the battlefield more keep coming
till you get overwhelmed
Subjective - I would say that the Swamp is by far the least fun Biome, with Ashlands being the second worst (Unlike swamp, I enjoy Ashlands sometimes. I don't think I've ever found the swamp experience enjoyable).
Major difference between them is that the Ashlands gives you fun tools to play with. The swamp doesn't, it's just what you've already had but better, and no way at all to make the rain easier other than stamina management. And while thats a lesson you learn, I don't think there's anything particularly fun about it, nor does it make the swamp more enjoyable once you've "learnt" it
The root stuff is just varying levels of modifiers to your character - strong, but not in the "fun" way like e.g. Fenris gear
It also kinda teaches you overpreparation
The swamp is unforgiving to unprepared players going all willy nilly
Ashlands is pure hell, which is oddly fitting. I've legit never gotten a single minute when I'm not under attack by 5+ mobs at once, and more spawn WHILE I'm killing them. I can't even run from them because they refuse to break aggro and don't care about the lava.
Welcome to musbelheim- lands of fire, death, death, death, death, and lotsa more death ๐
Been there, struggled through that, got the t-shirt and was swimming in gems.
Well, it is the end game
Canโt give you OP magic for nothing ๐
The first time was in a duo/trio. This time, it's 95% solo. I have to make my own friends with a magic 4-star skull.
Glad you swam in the gems and not the lava ๐
Donโt try the bubble bath - itโs a death trap ๐คฃ
Indeed. It's nice and hot. A little too hot.
Seeing the fulings and asksvin fight to the death is so hilarious to me
No, literally, you can die to a hot tub in Ashlands
seeing the asksvins just lauching themselves in the air just make me burst out laughing
I feel kinda bad about killing that 2-star asksvin. I had the materials to tame it, but nothing to trap it with.
Going to find the Queen boss, any tips before I die 48 times?
Besides the obvious - upgrading gear and bringing your best food - you could also have some poison resi mead and equip a Root Harnesk.
try not to die 49 times
Lightfoot mead, tonic of ratatosk and feather cape will all help because you need to move around much more than with previous bosses
try not to die 1
You are going to find her right?
Not fight her?
If you are still looking then youโll need to explore infested mines for a
Vegvisir
They normally spawn in the corners or big open rooms
That, or just keep an eye out for 3 tall spires next to each other
Thatโs normally a good indication of either a dungeon or the boss room being there
Me and my friend just wiped out an infested mine and found her location, currently got the carapace armour on us with the buckler and mist sword etc, currently living off honey, cloud berries and sausages ๐ looks like I gotta upgrade the food cause that mine was ridiculous
Oooof, yeah you should upgrade the food asap ๐
Man that's too many enemies in one mine, absolute admin abuse that was ๐คฃ
You are eatingโฆ.
Honeyโฆ.
In mistlandsโฆโฆโฆ.
Dude, you have a death wish ๐คฃ
20 bee hives running the squad hahahaha
You should have chickens and mushroom farm at the very least ๐
I better get my green thumb out hahaha
Like others have already said, bring poison resistance and the feather cape to that fight
Those are the bare essentials
Fighting long battles is super risky
Other than that itโs really just whatever you prefer
Does moder ability count?
Do any of you use magicโฆ?
Moder is a no no man ๐
Gotta ask: have you found seeds for carrots, turnips, onions during the earlier biomes?
You can use magic?!
๐คฆ
Bro I've been on hard mode this whole time?!
Yes.
Yes you have ๐
Make a galder table and play around with some of those new toys
I've been thru so much ๐ญ
You have proper carrot, turnip and onion farms in your base, right? RIGHT?
Just the 20 bee hives my man
You HAVE been playing it on hard mode then xD
I repeat my question: HAVE you found any seeds for carrots, turnips and onions??
I got ancient seeds ๐
Nope, cant plant those ๐
Nah like 4 turnip seeds round here somewhere
How to do made a farm or garden? hahah just bust out the hoe and start slapping the earth?
At least you don't need a trip to swamp.
Cultivator, made of bronze and corewood.
Available since black forest phase.
Huh?
Thanks @tacit crystal
You probably are missing one cauldron upgrade since it needs both carrots and turnips to craft.
Take some time now to properly farm some ingredients for better foods. If you have no carrot or onion seeds, you can find them in black forest (pickable white flowers) and in mountain (inside chests in ruins/cottages around).
Aw sweet as, how far apart can you plant stuff?
nice, if you found turnips seeds the rest is downhill, it's tipically a tricky resource to get in early game
-# (carrot ones are way more common due to terrain gen / biome difficulty)
Around 1m apart from each other should be enough.
carrots turnips and onions need to be 1 meter away from anything to grow (other crops, building structures, rocks, bushes etc), and need an open sky
Seems like you guys are lacking a chief
Also, if you have found barley it requires being planted in Plains. So you probably need to set a farm with a portal to some spot.
Good lookin out man ๐
Mushrooms found in Mistlands (magecaps, jotun puffs) also require being planted in Mistlands only.
And magecaps require more space from each other.
yup, learned it the hard way, wiki says 1,6m
Duuuuuuuuude!!!!!!!!! ๐๐๐
Meadows food diet
Man is trying to make his life difficult ๐๐
fr
I question how they got in the mistland in the first place
with that diet
Honey, cloudberries, sausages.
#valheim-chat message
I know right??? ๐คฃ
This manโs been making Valheim so insanely difficult itโs like heโs trying to beat Scales at his own game ๐
Itโs still so badโฆ ๐
Cloud berries and honey last 15 minutes each! ๐ญ
Omg im so happy I found this area of mistlands
It is incredibly open
like way too open for a small base
At least you can find sausages in Infested mines!

yummy, entrail coldcuts abandoned from a long time in a bug infested cave

Cause of deaths usually?
Is there a command to remove like the mist in the mistlands or atleast be able to see
through it
Because I wanna take a look of this valley
Wisp torches in a queue.
in a queue?
Yeah, you know, those where you wait at the cashier when shopping groceries?
Theres like wisp torches everywhere in this valley
but I wanna take a screenshot of it from the top
clear view
Drink more wine
Barley wine is the strongest fire resistance you can get, itโs the same as fenris armor or yagluth power.
There are not a lot of mobs that deal fire damage, so learning their attack patterns can help with that.
Also, if you play as mage you want to use Protection staff.
Vibing my way through Ashlands
It's placeholder item to whatever we need for next upcoming biome.
There is no ETA for that yet.
There is one smaller update upcoming too before Deep North update, but no ETA for that yet either. But probably much closer than the last biome.
Fader
Difficult to say ๐
I love the Bonemass theme so I do be vibes in the swamp
But the queen is so cool I donโt now which one to pick
Moder is pretty cool too
***** Yagluth in particular ๐
I really donโt like that man ๐
Eikthyr is barely a boss, trolls are stronger
fuling berserkers no longer mine the ground?
They never did
huh, or at least rocks?
Rocks they could
ah, they don't seem to be doing that now
They do the same tier of pickaxe dmg as iron pickaxe, so they should still mine rocks
You arenโt using them right if they are killing you my guy ๐
Throw them at the enemy not at your feet! ๐
Mmmmmโฆ..
Also, fire resistance is kinda useless when dealing with certain fader attacks
That one he does with spikes coming out of the ground is like lava, so you will die near instantly if you stand in it ๐ญ
It's no waste since HP is renevable resource.
Yeah.
But they keep the dragon distracted as he likes to slap them or summon attacks to hit them instead of you
โฆโฆ.
You were using the bubble shield yes? ๐
That last part sounds very upsetting
He normally targets your summonsโฆ
Unless you are standing closer to him than they are
Probably
When I played he only targeted my summons and I could bomb him into oblivion with my vines
Nah, nothing was changed recently
The queen does the same with my skellies
1-2 months ago at most
Iโm gonna test it
Well done man! ๐คฉ๐ฅฐ
Last patch was April 1st, and it would most likely be mentioned if there were any changes to boss AI ๐
Ah yeah, joke patch that turned out to be a real one!
I love slow sailing past fuling villages and using the ember staff to naval bombard the village into oblivion

I'd love to do that with 5-6 players all raining fiery death upon the little buggers
Its funnier to just give the fulings a false sense of winning and bait them into your army of asksvins
note: the fulings they didnt survive
4 - 5 asksvins can take out a large fuling camp all by themselves
a single asksvin can handle 4 fulings
an army if asksvin is overkill
Overkill is the name of my Viking metal band .. of asksvins
Whats the earliest point that I can get sorcery weapons?
whats the limit of map markers if there is one I forgot
Mistlands, biome 6
I donโt think there is one, but having too many can lead to performance issues ๐ค
How many would you say is too many ๐คจ
๐
ok wow
theres a whole ONE swamp dungeon on my starter island
game was feeling generous I guess
Youโre lucky to have a swamp there
I have 2
well technically 3 the starter island is REALLY big on this one
haldor and hildir spawn on the starter island and bog witch is like a tiny distance
Even with minions attacking the boss in Ashlands I was also targetted for certain attacks like the Fissure, which seemed to target all of faders enemies within range
It would be too easy if they didnโt
As a slight chime into a conversation I saw earlier
where someone was saying he only focused the minions
I agree but saw conversations earlier saying that wasn't happening or something, was just verifying that it was for me ๐
what is the point of the draught of vanadinir? i tried to use it to cross nearby islands, but It's just not enough to keep you alive for most swims, even with ashlands food
yea it's pretty useless
it's funny how they're so against bloat but then add stuff like that lol
To make it worth it, it would need to be 4-5 mins of swim time minimum per potion.
It was quite good when it was 80% swim stamina reduction during PTB, now it is okayish.
ye
but like, when are you ever going to be using this pot
Also funny they nerf the swim stam reduction but not speed mead or berserker mead
I mean, those are unrelated
not rlly, they're all potions and all released in bog witch update
valheim
Yeah but they do completely different things
It's good for adventuring around and swimming across bit further gap of water so you don't need to carry Karve mats. With FFS or HSS foods you don't usually need stamina mead.
Would love to see a scenario where it plays out
What you are suggesting is that if they find something wrong with an item, they then have to change everything that somehow are related to that item in any way.
I was adventuring around my world when testing it.
you cant beat valheim
Not suggesting anything, I just found it funny how they're concerned with one things but other outliers they're not
And considering that swim stam reduction is pretty minor vs potions that effect core elements of combat
If weakness and resistance cancelled themselves instead of resistance overriding weakness the berserkir mead would seem more like intented and not too OP when using them with Bonemass power I think.
@hushed marlin well it depends what you liked about valheim, no other games are like valheim exactly but depending on what part(s) you enjoyed then maybe you could get better recommendations
enshrouded, conan exiles are the ones that come to mind
Psst, https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202174832729661470 would be better place to discuss other games.

My friend made troll hit birch tree to get finewood and a stupid guy (me) made a tankard instead of finewood bow
And we don't even have mead or ale
Btw is alestorm qualified to listen to while playing valheim?
it's all about investing 4 the future
Tankard is frankly quite bad investment ๐ its really usefull only for decoration
Soon you will.
Still think it would be cool if tankards would allow you to drink mead faster
Well, faster than almost instant... There is an animation i guess, but that one is quite fast
And effect gets applied instantly
Wield a shield in other hand, parry your enemy and drink for a good parry.

Throw mead onto enemies to make them drunk
are there any weapons that are strong towards stone golems
Iron mace
thanks
Almost like drunken mastery monk.
Pickaxes
Really
anyone wnna hang ?
No pickaxes are much slower than iron mace
Sorry, i still plan to cling on life for a bit ๐
dayum....ok...
i meant like hang out...in Valheim...
holy sh* bro....
i mean great friggin humor but damn..
that hit me like a metric ton of bricks
-# yeah i know ๐
You might want to look in or make a post in #1024264966712340510 ๐
i already have a post open....no Reponses...
plus no communities that i can find that aren't modded or newbie friendly (that aren't like totally narcissistic etc)
Just give it some more time ๐ lots of players are not in same timezones and it can take even few days untill you get responses
Heโs a dev tho I gotta believe him
If you don't wanna watch just skip to 3:21 for the full breakdown
The question was "are there any weapons that are strong towards stone golems" ๐ For which "pickaxes" is 100% correct answer since they are weak to pickaxe dmg. However even then it is true that you can kill golems with iron mace + buckler faster than with pickaxe.
Pickaxes are not a strong weapon tho
They cost too much stamina, and they're slow, allowing for other enemies to hear you and potentially join in on the fun
Against golems they can be, doesent mean there arent better options ๐
So while theoretically, "Yea guys they do 2x dmg is true", in practice that's just not the case
So no, they're not strong
Also, doing another Valheim run but doing things differently is like playing another game. There's the world modifiers (no portals for example will shake things up quite a lot) and there's any kind of personal "challenge" you can give yourself. But if you're the kinda guy who just wants to "beat" a game and move on to other games, that's fine too. To each their own.
For example you beat it using magic - so you could try another run and go melee all the way. I've been mostly ignoring magic all my 2k+ hours of Valheim, so I will really try it next round..
Also a sound approach. I tend to play games exclusively for a few months, then take breaks to play something else and come back later with the hunger all replenished. Can't really play several games in parrallell, I need to focus or I get bored.
#1024264966712340510 is where that goes.
my b derek
In a way pickaxes are, because it let you create the pit in which you can lure a Golem.
And the advantage of a trapped Golem is that there won't spawn another at the same location as long as the one in the pit remains alive.
If we're going with cheese methods then it's still outclassed by the hammer and 8 wood
Well, cheese methods is what kept people alive in the past few 100,000 years.
So why not use it in games too?
We're not all like you, being able to defeat Fader with a character using no food, no armor, only fists, while yourself having one hand tied behind your back and one eye covered for limited vision.
So some will use cheesing and as long as there isn't a law against it, people will mention cheese methods.
Whether you like it or not.
huh, 8 wood and like 10 seconds with like 30 stam, vs 90 seconds of set up and much more stamina, has nothing to do with me being good at the game
I wonder i fwe're gonna get PTS release before european vacation
I wouln't have thought so. Smiffe is already on vacation.
Not very likely
I dunno if the players get Post Traumatic Stress, but some of the devs might if players keep asking about when the DN is released.......
Can Iron only be found in the dungeon swamps, I saw a post saying you can find it with a wishbone outside in the swamps?
Not limited to crypts no
However you will find the majority of your iron to come from the crypts
Collecting iron outside really is a waste of time.
I'm not able to find many crypts ๐ฆ
There are multiple swamps out there, but you may have to sail for it.
Did you build the 2nd sailing vessel after you entered the Black Forest?
I've got the tier three boat but we're sharing iron between us and we have plenty of upgrades to do
That was kinda my thinkin - there had been talk about the "slope combat"/etc stuff being released before DN and I thought there might be a push to get that out before vacation to get it tested but probably not. I hope y'all have a good vacation and will check back in August.
If by "talk" you mean a devblog/word from the devs, yes there has been talk ๐
Yeah, hardly rumour at this point.
just bought the game
Enjoy!
Welcome between fellow vikings!
Be ready to sink hundreds if not thousands of hours in this game.

Gods, durability of the Root Fang is no joke, killing one harpy put it at 62%
Got to bring my old spinesnap along on longer excursions
Hahah just watched two seekers chasing a deer for minutes before they gave up and went for me instead
Looks funny but there's an important thing there too - seekers, even when there's two of them, are pretty easy to dodge as long as you keep moving. Requires space to move of course, so little help in mines, but out in the open they can be outsmarted easily.
I probably missed this - is it possible to see swimming mechanics, like underwater or its like caves - requires full game rebuild?
It would require to completely re-design the engine.
So "No, it's not possible to see things like that".
Unless you want to wait for another 6-7 years to have the game released?
Nah just wonder, ty for answer brother
Bah, picky wolfses, won't eat seeker meat
Bug meat, bleh xD
It wouldn't require rebuilding the entire game or engine, but it would take a very large amount of work compared to how much content we receive because of how many systems would need to be replaced or implemented
They don't eat any post-Plains meats, I have tested that.
Yeah. Picky wolfses!
What to make of the Slayer by the way? Brutal, Scourging or Primal? I'm leaning towards Scourging since getting benefit from Brutal means going against all my instincts, and I have faster hitting weapons with root
Same, tho i am bit biased to iolite enchantments ๐
Need to find more gems before I can do anything, but nothing wrong with planning ahead...
Brutal Slayer for the win.
I can't make proper use of it, running around beaten more than half dead goes against my nature...
Although I could make it just for the looks and take benefit whenever it happens!
But now I'm actually thinking of not gemming it at all but upgrading it to 3rd lvl instead
Gemmed can't be upgraded more than 2nd so far, no?
Gemstone weapons can only be upgraded to level 2
Raw weapons, my beloved ๐ช
(Except for Dyrnwyn, love you)
TooMuchDogg likes it raw
Eats his boar meat raw.

Gotta say I prefer Slayer either regular or Bloodstone.
But Klossen, Primal axes and Storming Splitnir ftw.
Anybody else strongly enjoy the fact that the torch does more fire dmg than a flaming sword
Cause I do!
I would not say that "enjoy" is the right word necessarily...
Since the flaming sword is in the biome where everything resists fire, I donโt mind.
Dunno if I "enjoy" it, but I certainly find it funny
Itโs just there to give a burning effect to enemies, not for dealing any significant damage
Torch breaks faster tho ๐
It's still a flaming sword, you kinda expect it to, like, burn stuff. At least a little bit more than it does. But we take what we get eh..
Nothing in ashlands burns so I wouldnโt want that
I really hope the fire dmg gets buffed to at least be on par with torch xD
Next biome things might burn better though
Deep north ๐
But in DN there might be stuff that burns ๐
Would reward the players quite well if they went thru the extra steps of getting that thing
Not to mention Drynwyn lacks any special effect like the storm root or blood so an increased fire dmg would only make sense to cover for that
It shouldnโt be too strong since only one player (by default) in a group can get it, it would be unfair otherwise
Game is balanced around single player first
Although why should things be fair, honestly. Let groups argue and fight it out over who gets it...
And I would say that since only one player can get it then it can be a bit better than other weapons, if everyone could get it then yes, it shouldnt be too good
This is what obliterators are made for
You wouldnt!!!
Lol tossing dyrnwyn into the obliterator for that one measly coal, gods how cruel
Thor can have it โค๏ธ
Not even the one...
Hahah yea Thor is a cheap one
Dyrnwyn: an Ashlands tier sword that becomes irrelevant as soon as it's made
Root harnesk: a Swamp tier breastplate that remains relevant as late as Ashlands
I have suggested some time ago but a chance for fiery wave around that deals fire damage would be nice and would make it more unique and useful.
Why would you ask for a chance
WE LOVE GAMBLING ๐ฐ
Skyward strike secondary attack would be cool
Also would be inconsistent with all other 1 handed swords ๐
Yep. Just like the crafting recipe.
The jade root effect when fighting seeker soldier was fantastically useful, hehe
Still the same weapon type tho ๐
Dunno, don't mind the chance system honestly.
I strongly suspect Jade will outweigh storm in the deep north purely because of this reasoning
Needs a battlepass
Popped in to harvest my shrooms and a one star soljer was chewing through my walls, never killed one so quickly before
Also rooting morgens and bullying them in their own caves has become my new favourite sport
Finally I got 1000hours on the game
Why do you enjoy hurting my feelings?

Because it's easy?
||Jk.
||
I also enjoy the fact that a blackmetal knife does more than 8x the damage of a copper knife against fleshy targets despite them not encountering anything hard or bony
Surely their ability to hold an edge doesn't make that much of a difference...
Whoa whoa whoa, when did you start playing Barony??? ๐
(Oh whoops, thought was general lol)
guys i want to ask did the price goes up ? for valheim
Where may I safely share a cute AI generated picture with the Valheim community and not break rules?
Is there a currently known estimated release date for the deep north?
I was talking about teaching my G/F some stuff with math, to ChatGPT and it offered to do it visually with Valheim in mind, and I said sure without thinking (I was thinking it would draw a table.) but it drew a cute picture with Valheim math.
Nowhere, we're not interested in AI.
Mistlands biome giving me a reality check, that no matter if I have ashlands equipment the seekers does just 120 pierce dmg

and I have no Pierce resistance to negate that
yo guys is this game worth buyin?
In my unbiased opinionโฆ yes ๐
In a serious note, yeah itโs a great game. If youโre not a fan of EA games, be aware that this game is still in early access. With that being said, it has a lot of content and is very well-polished.
ok Runescape Dragonwilds or This game?
Valheim
i mean dont get me wrong...the graphics are ummmmm
@shy marlin does this game have skill leveling system?
yea but it's pretty bad
okay......
well maybe bad is the wrong word, it's just meh
skills are just nice to have in valheim, that's all
but srsly, valheim is probably the best entertainment you can get for 20 bucks
RuneScape is cool, but I would still recommend Valheim.
Try it out, if you donโt like it, you can return it ๐ค (probably)
I personally can't stand the lighting of dragonwilds
Scales, the official spokesperson of Valheim
interesting, I mean I haven't tried dragonwilds but I adore the VH lighting, and I m still playing Valheim only whenever I can
Sounds like a complete disaster
I'll stick to being the resident sweat lord
I cant stop laughing at the asksvin meme I did
I always see greylings just wander in my base and then get yeeted across the ground floor after trying to fight my asksvin
Brave little fellas
how do you get an asksvin to your base?
Have them lay eggs in the ashlands, then tp with the eggs back home
Anyone got a server I can join?
asksvin eggs?
thats so wierd, never tamed them. wouldnt think demon dogs would lay eggs
I think they are technically reptiles, I could be wrong though
I think "asksvin" translates to "ash pig"
In Norwegian, yes.
They are basically overgrown necks ๐
The best acessory for hot weather
Itโs winter here, keep your summer over there
Regretfully i will have to keep it here as my abilities are not great enough to send it to the land down under ๐
Ah, why do I always tell myself that I'm not going to stay up playing Valheim until 2am when I have to wake up in 6 hours? It never works.
that was me yesterday hahaha, building the new treehouse, ran out of wood, core wood, iron, fine wood, had to get more, then build mor,e then need copper for lights, but its very fun and relaxing ๐ (What is sleep?)
I told myself I'd do that fortress quick and go to sleep before midnight. That fortress had the vegvisir to Fader...on the same island, about 200 meters away. So I build a shack with a portal in it nearby and went to make more eitr foods. I had no vineberries. So I went to mass gather ingredients. I'm out of magecaps. I go to harvest the magecaps from the farm. Sudden gjall fight. Then I had to cycle the eitr refinery. It's...a process.
On the bright side, this file is the very first solo file I'll be completing. It's been a goal of mine for a while. Aside from all the 5-star fish, Fader is the last obstacle to completion. There is a friend who joins me from time to time, but he isn't able to do a whole lot aside from random expeditions. All of the bosses have been solo'd.
Last obstacle huh, you have found fragments for special weapon around Ashlands?
Oh, right. That thing. I should probably hunt that down after Fader. Wouldn't want to miss out on a worthless trophy sword.
Finally killed The Queen, only took 4hours ๐๐
That mod I got to make the Staff of Protection bubble ignore Chopping and Pickaxe damage makes me think that was intentional. I'm basically unkillable with a shield I can keep renewing.
Bro tye carapace buckler saved my life
That and Jam
None of the bosses were able to put a dent in me. The Queen in particular was getting stuck trying to kill my skeletts while I lobbed fireballs at her.
I had the mist sword buckler, lvl 4 Frost hammer and about 300kg of food
Those seekers are greif tho
Magic combat is 100% my thing. I always switch to it the second I unlock it. That Staff of Embers just demolishes things at high Elemental Magic levels. Not sure why the Staff of Fracturing exists when the Staff of Embers outclasses it in raw damage output, even without stacking fire as fast. The problem with the latter is the knockback makes lobbing multiple projectiles in a row tends to miss a lot.
Bro how do I unlock magic? Cause I've literally killed hundreds with the hammer and shield
Killed the Queen and still havnt discovered it lol
You'd need black cores to make an eitr refinery, and the rest will flow from there.
Oh, and sap from the tree roots. You'll need to raid dverger outposts for the extractor parts.
I heard you needa eat eitr rich foods
Hugin shouldโve given you a hint when you found an Yggdrasil root
I got the the eitr forger and plenty if sap
Wait, you made a Sealbreaker. You HAVE the Gauldr Table.
now make a Galdr table
You only need level 1 to make all mistlands equipment
this guy must be trolling
Look into it. Find the skulls. Harvest their moist, juicy brains. Lots of tissue samples there.
Might not be worthless in DN or after the combat update
the slash damage is amazing on it already though
Bruh ๐ I've been so focused on making an absolute tank of a dude
Mine them from the bottom. For the most part, the rest of the tissue samples will break once the bottom is destroyed.
This game tho so small is actually huge ๐
Magic has multiple benefits in staves and blood magic. Namely, the Staff of Embers is a primary weapon of mine. It does a large lumpsum of damage with some AoE. A direct hit does bulk Blunt and Fire damage, with the AoE having only the latter. But it's a nice radius. Then the Staff of Frost is a rapid-fire ice burst that slows targets it hits for 1 second, renewing as you hit them. Doesn't work on some things. Namely, bosses. But you can basically stunlock a target by icing them whilst backing up. The Ashlands has MORE magic weapons to discover, though.
I thought direct and aoe have the same damages, are you sure about that?
Blood Magic sacrifices a percentage of your current health to activate their effects. The Staff of Protection places a temporary bubble to absorb damage, and the Dead Raiser summons skeletts to attack for you.
Do they? I've never really noticed while I'm flinging fireballs wildly to get whatever's attacking me away.
Staff of Protection gains 60 more seconds of protection per level, while Dead Raiser raises the skelett cap per level, up to 4 at a time.
Heck yeah, can't believe I've got this far with only physical attacks and a good stock of sausage, honey, jam etc. Awesome game ๐ heaps goin on
As you raise your magic skills, eitr usage becomes more efficient, and blood magic drains less of a percentage of your health. It's a worthy combat style for solo or team play. The staff of protection gives a protective bubble to every ally and tamed creature in a decent range around you.
I-Um...THAT'S the food you're using?
Meadow diet
As a chef, I'm frankly quite insulted.
Are you like doing a challenge or something xd
Hahahah health at roughly 101 and stam is like 160 ๐คฃ
or in a group?
Nah man, just a full time worker jamming a new game ๐
I question how you even beaten the previous bosses and survived to meet the not so friendly enemies in the mistlands
I don't have to make eitr weave clothes do I? Cause my dude is a rhino
Wait until you find out about Misthare Supreme, Meat Platter, and Salad.
You dont as long as you eat 1 eitr food
The mist lands are the worst place I've ever been hey
Eitr weave robes aren't a requirement, but the full set is enough to double your eitr regen.
It's 2:24am. I need to be up at 8. Laters.
its very possible to run around in the mistlands without a wisp light
this is from experience
Yeah but it sucks major balls
Go cook something Mistlands-tier! The chef demands it!
Them gjall things aren't playing around
Serious question tho... what do I put in an oven? ๐
Uncooked food can be made at a food preparation table
best effective armor combination is: metal helmet, root chest, troll pants. You get the most armor values and buffs while being relatively agile. You can use this until Mistlands, where stuff can get complicated
Switch troll to fenris pants ๐
What are you rolling your eyes for? ๐ You wanted the "best effective armor combination".
That's a 3 day old comment. They've probably finished the game by now.
not everyone is speedrunning the game like you do. From bronze to killing Ashlands boss? and being new to the game?
I've never speedrun a game in my life. And I was clearly exaggerating.
Especially if NOT speedrunning the fenris pants are gold.
they are not much of an option because you need the fenrishair in speedrunning ๐ extra steps to get them
fenris is more like "speedrunning" from being crushed/stabbed to death than "speedrunning game progression"
being able to walk out off harms way is very helpful. the movement penalty for the more stable armor comes with a big drawback (in my opinion) so I would always opt for fenris because more agile is quicker out of harms way ๐
Armour doesn't have drawbacks, bows do...
@vocal rivet thanks for correcting this poor non native english speaker... gotta love folks that nitpick your language ๐
Huh? When did I correct anyone's language?
I'd never do that. I can't speak any language better than you guys speak English so I'd never dare.
uhm i think that's about "armour" in british spelling... maybe he felt "corrected"
@vocal rivet i felt nitpicked on for using drawback with the armor
He?
both are correct
nah armour armor is potato potato ๐ i would love to remember to write it the british way (brain to fussy at times to do that)
No, I was making a stupid joke. Because you draw back a bow to fire it.
oh just a guess, wrong apparently
sorry for being a bit on edge there then - seems I have been having to many stupid remarks in other places on my grammar and spelling - please do not take offence ๐
One of the spiciest bits about using magic is it eats your HP too. I was at 10 HP or so, many times fighting the queen as I was summoning skellies and topping up my shield. It's a lot of fun and super spicy too, probably a bit of a necessity for when you first touch down in the Ashlands too
Don't worry about it. It was a bad joke. No offence taken.
Read her name backwards.
ups, sry my bad, "she felt.."
Ooh, now I see... Never actually thought of that.
also looks a bit like "anagram", appropriate
the captial L at the end is the only hint folks get and not many realize at first glance ๐ I giggle with glee anytime someone notices it ๐
True, those who know, know. ๐
yeh playing with usernames is totally fine, and fun (within decency ofc.)
-# eg. not "Vincenzo", not a blood-uncle (moral for a bunch of kids and dogs tho) only 5/8 Italian
๐ค
back to
, early armor can do good even in "complicated" Mistlands: i'm going Fenris-Root-Fenris (and Feather ofc.) there atm
Can't wait until they do something to Root Harnesk, honestly.
Increased armor against pierce instead of % damage reduction would make it less powerful in later biomes
yup that will be a sad day for me, i'll do a screenshot funeral memorial for badass looking mistlands rangers
Or if there would be "slightly resistant" modifier that gives 25% resistance.
๐ซธ
๐ซท not listening
blah blah blah not listening

The harnesk is very op but at some point theres going to be a nerf
we cant avoid it
naaah, low armor value, weakness to fire, it's absolutely not op, actually i use it just for looks ๐ ๐
bad, useless armor piece, even in it's native biome, bad
the negation to a dmg type that is very often found even in later biomes is very nice but just having raw dmg reduction with just full armour of the previous biomes will be better than the root harnesk
since not all enemies will have pierce attacks
but i still use the Arctic Furs armor (level 2) well into Nightmare difficulty in Diablo 2, no one ever complained about that
-# i know, i know, just defending Root Harnesk till death, can't help it

The only time ive really used root harnesk was when I was dealing with the sealed tower and the mistlands
the spearers at the top of the sealed tower were very annoying
Lady morgana
also the plains, but there is balanced, once i maxed the full padded set, armor value alone will defend enough from Deathskitoes, no idea about op-ness in Ashlands as i didn't get there yet, sure i was planning to dismiss it before Ashlands (actually i did even for the Queen, full mage)
๐ก just make any root armor piece in inventory burn into coal as you enter Ashlands and leave my badass mistlands ranger alone >>> problem solved
(jk ofc)
Curious
has anyone ever made a range + support mage build?
Thats why I didnt use the root anymore because of max padded set
Yes
bonus: looking dope as hell
From this answer alone you played this build correct?
Is there an bug report chat here?
like ingame
Why would it be ingame?
bc some bugs are in game ;-;
bc I found one relating to animation
Well, obviously the bugs are in game, but you don't report them in game ๐
Ofc im not gonna report it ingame
theres not even an ingame report bug option
It's not uncommon for games to have an option to report a bug in game ๐ค
What do you think the bug channels are for then?
Oh, you've edited it now.
typo
it just says steam, xbox, mac bug duscussion but not anything relating to the game
There's one here too: https://valheim.com/support
or like ingame stuff
howdy ty
What else would it be related to, honestly?
It is for ingame stuff but some bugs will only be on specific platforms

Has anyone ever tried standing on top of the obliterator seat and survived the lightning?
You have to blast โRide the Lightningโ by Metallica at loud volume in order to survive
I have a random question. Do you ever sleep? I swear, I see you at all hours of the day, ready to answer Valheim questions or join in their discussions.
No, Iโm always here
I suppose you're like me and wondering what's the grass people are telling us to go touch? I touch enough of that in The Meadows.
Real meadows have no necks anyway
Out of all their parts we harvest, we harvest their tails. Same with their more advanced ashlands counterparts.
Surprised we don't get their hides to turn into rain protection.
There shouldnโt be even more encouraging players to kill necks
those poison meads are tempting enough
There is no rain protection in the spirit world
Oh, I'm never encouraged to kill them. They just happen to be aggressive and not going away when they see me. So they get a fireball to the face.
Why am I chatting on discord? I have to be at work in 25ish minutes. :v
Thatโs enough time to fell some trees
Youโre building too loud, they just want some peace. You show up in their meadows and construct an entire Viking village, and you expect them to be ok with that?
They're going to be okay with it, or they'll be on the chopping block from this master mage.
Forget the neck tailsโฆ why canโt we use deer or boar entrails for sausages instead of being cannibals
Entrails would need to be given another use
And any replacement should still be a swamp tier ingredient
To feed tamable Abominations of course.
Tameable seekers ๐
honestly hearing the gjall sound effects especially with no music playing is still giving me chills
despite me wearing full flametal equipment and maxed out
Now imagine realizing that it was a 2*
1* hurt way more than a normal
Theres no 2* gjall but still
There is a 2*
Might be a command only but it exists
Also a nighttime only spawn
I found a 1* once and he wasn't very nice. #screenshots message
dang
hello, do we have a mod here? i wanna report a user
Send DM to @dusky pivot
You can use Modmail for that.
You don't particularly want to ๐คฃ Mistlands at night time is pretty scary
The music for fader is... ||hella dope||
2 star seekers are also capable of spawning at night, you don't see them in the overworld during the day, only in dungeons
And their large size often works against them in dungeons
hello
I am lovin this theme for fader
hello black
Howdy
hows it doing
They can actually spawn during the day, but only in POIs like outside of the Infested mines or inside the empty marble ruins (spawn points). During night they can spawn also randomly with 2 stars tho.
Finally fader is dead
Does empty marble ruins constantly spawn seekers like a spawner?
No, they're one time spawn points.
Meadows at nighttime post beating queen can be quite eventful
Went for a quick firewood run, along with firewood I returned home with 8 seeker meat and 9 black metal...
Marble ruins don't, but the infested mines do respawn a subset of their population, I believe the broods and some of the regular seekers. There aren't any constant spawners like the Greydwarves or Draugr have, though
omg, when deep north ? ๐ข , after or before grounded 2
After
When it's done. Devs don't give any timelines, but it's not around the corner.
No release date yet, not even a guess. It will come when it is ready..
pretty sure its beyond after
Can almost guarantee deep north is not coming in a month
gonna pass on faders theme
Aw whyyyy D:
it's just noise man

Yeah when I came to the Queen's entrance it was guarded by one two star with two one-star sidekicks. That fight was honestly tougher than the queen herself
I love the hidden little area under her entrance
Ohyeah it's a lovely place
I usually tear the ruined furniture and walls inside apart so I have safe area for my portals that lead into variant Mistlands locations.
In my world it was a horrible place to fight a bunch of starred seekers though - a deep bay just at the bottom of the stairs, with just a narrow strip of land between that and steep spires on both sides. Had almost no space to move while fighting them, and always the risk of knockback yeeting me into the sea. And smack in the middle of the mists too, no luck to have some clear air there...
Just blind luck that the honker nearby didn't find the source of noise until after they were dead, but come to think of it the mists probably helped with that
I try to keep as much of the furniture around as I can and just leave it for my Queen portal, I love the aesthetic and most of that you can't rebuild
Yeah, but then again there are more Queen locations too.
Yeah, the infested mine entrances/queen altar right at the sea is such a pain to deal with
I put the emergency portal there, and a chest for foods.
One of my worlds I found the altar before I found a single infested mine... that world was a slog ๐
Ugh
What does the "heat resistance" on the flametal armour do?
Will I live a few seconds longer in lava?
Like... one second longer.
You can stand bit longer on lava before it starts to hurt you, same to the water.
With all pieces.
Only chest and legs grant heat resistance, which is 20% each.
I think it also reduces the amount of damage taken but I havenโt tested that
True, that also.
Right. Just made and upgraded the whole set, been running around all squishy in the Ask set so long I've almost gotten used to the mobility, time to return to my tanky roots. Completed it with the ashen cape, so I have to wean myself of the feather cape complacency...
Instead of 10 damage per tick you take 6 when you have both chest and legs pieces.
guys which mod would let me resize the minimap (not zoom) my monitor is too big
Maybe stay inebriated on Ratatosk to take the edge off the run speed hit
ok
I prefer the Ask set and Ashen cape. Nice amount of armor and mobility.
Ask set, feather cape. Dodge everything
Ooof leaving the feather cape behind is gonna take some getting used to, but it's about time I detox myself from that
Almost killed myself three times in the first five minutes
There is no time to detox from it, just keep it on
Just go HHH and facetank the fall damage :clueless:
Try and start fights with a long fall...
Never having stamina tho.
Tasty mead be like
Stamina food be like
||PLEASE don't actually do this I swear to fuck||
Tasty mead AND stamina food.
The only stamina foods I have are honey and raspberries, I need better stats
Gotta get that deer meat and boar meat
Eitr food ๐
That collar on the ashen cape, makes me feel like a cartoon dog with an underbite
Crikey it looks silly
I haven't minded it with the Flametal helmet but it irritates me when it clips weirdly with hoods since I've been mainly using the Ask set. Which is why I made a suggestion regarding to it. #suggestions message
HA was just about to post your suggestion!!
Of course, Iโd like to see some alternative styles for a lot of the armor pieces! ๐
How cool that would be really. Like plates for iron armor for example.
Thanks for the link, upvoted it. I don't even like it with the flametal armour so I can't imagine how stupid it looks with hoods ๐
So much potential! I remember a while ago, a user mentioned that they didnโt like the wolf head on the wolf cape. (Personally, I think it looks bad ass and I would never change it). Would be cool if those who felt bad seeing a wolf head could have an alternative style that didnโt include it. Just an example!
Wolf cape looks okay to me, but it sometimes clips weirdly. But I prefer the Lox cape personally, it's THICK.
The wolf cape looks so goodโฆ I still use it on the Ashlands lol
The animated trailer where the Eitr caster had the weave robes and the wolf cape? Perfect fashion.
Meanwhile Hervor is using lox cape with flametal chest and legs. ๐ค
While wielding a Jotun Bane
Pain.
Iirc it was just for the coolness choice, not effectiveness.
Lol is that a Linus emoji ๐
It's the "hide the pain Harold" meme.
Oh no, Iโm not hip enough to understand ๐ญ
From other game server.
Sheโs going to die soon if she doesnโt make a new weapon, which hopefully means she can make a new weapon and show us everything about it
Also we still havenโt had a good look at any enemies. Just one attack from an Elaking
I'll say it, Hervor deserves to die for using jotun pain
Scales summoned when Jotun Pain mentioned.
Scales gets a notification in his mind when someone mentions the staff of protection.
Skill expression too
Anyone: expresses their skill in chat
Scales: "I'm gonna ruin that person's whole career"
Scales can do everything except wait for Eithkyr to raid his base
stone portal say what
That one is at least a year old
its nice for scouting out the ashlands for POIs
I have mine set up on top of my fortress tower with angle grausten roofs to get better height
I have a question. I am trying to use freefly to record my build, but the camera moves too quickly. I've tried using ffsmooth but I can't find a good range.
Is there any way to make it look better?
use the mouse wheel to slow/speed up freefly
Thx. Also, how do you change from running to walking?
C by default
Its my first time in awhile I have used HHS food combination, ive always went with my go to HSS for more stamina
But due to how tough the enemies are in the ashlands
especially those 4
Which four?
Asksvins, Charred Warrior, Morgen, and Fallen Valkyrie
Despite having max flametal armour they still hit like a truck
2 star Warrior is fun one.
Ah yes I remember my first encounter with a 2* warrior
I had to demolisher it to death just to live
It one shotted me
when I has HSS and fully maxed out carapace armour
I just realized that 2* warrior screenshot was 8 days old
so it only took me a week to beat ashlands
Not letting those bastards get close enough to me to land a hit. Nearly got destroyed by a one-star, the two-starred get the frost arrow & root treatment. Takes a few arrows, but better them than me...
Mace secondary is my goto way to deal 2 star warriors.
my way to deal with [problem] is bow
I switched to crossbow in the mistlands.
Love the root fang, but its shitty durability is a problem with the charred being pierce resistant. Going through a lot of arrows
So I'm trying to save my arrows for the nasties. Valkyries plus starred warriors or asksvins
The queen is dead
2 hours of battle
That was intense but fun
Now for the Ashland
I have completely lost my whole faith in this community. Only addicts have remained. Now I will leave you enjoy the shadow of the forgotten spark
What on Earth prompted that?
u need to cheer up
You need to mind your own business.
don't think that was directed at you ๐ค
it was not lol
they have some roles
I always run HHS
I just prefer that
Meh, magic is cool but nothing beats the old carapace shield, demolisher, lvl 4 frostner, mist sword and a good supply of jam and meat ๐
While I perfectly understand why it's not something we can do in vanilla, I would love to be able to plant Yggdrassil Shoot trees
They're just so pretty. Mistlands is a pretty biome and it's kinda depressing to see that beauty kinda fade a bit as you cut those trees down.
I only just realized that there's a hidden chest in some of the mountain's cabins behind the wood piles. I don't usually destroy them because I think they make the montain cooler, but in restoring one for a nice mountain getaway I noticed it finally
I'm currently using knives in the game near end of swamp. I know they disappear in end game axes have been catching my eye though but there's a few things I wonder. When would it be worth making the switch as I have 50 levels in knife but none in axes. Can battle axes chop trees? How do axes fair throughout the game past swamps?
Don't worry about skill levels
1 h axes are kinda garbo, battle axes can chop trees very well
Thanks do they chop the trees they need to for the tier?
How come?
Skills are just "nice to haves" in valheim
