#valheim-chat

Unlocked stone builds yesterday, so I can try to make one
The problem is that here in Brazil there are few Valheim players. Only the dedicated servers have a good amount of players... there are servers with more than 60 players in one world...
Oh, I'm from Brazil too!
yes, the tree house helps a lot... the tense thing is the haunting
Didn't think I would found another brazilians here lmao
Good luck with the stone buildings, it took me a while to understand the physics of the game's buildings... I'm used to other types so I got bugged hahaha
Are you Brazilian?
i never wanted to build a tree house, because wraiths fly pretty high in the canopy
caralho q doideira
Yep! É os guri
KKKKKK
So, won't speak further in portuguese cause of rules lol
I will make some silver weapons to deal with It
Just need to get enough iron for a mace
iron weapons kill swamp mobs good, just use parries like there's no tomorrow
i used to hate how wraiths float back when you parry them, forcing you to inch their way to hit them
but the biggest surprise is the abomination, which you can also parry easily
That's why I used a bow with fire arrows when dealing with a wrath.
They certainly don't like that one and it saves me from running after them.
wouldn't the wet effect negate them?
Rain only applies wet to the player. Creatures need to go into water.
that's disappointing, and i avoided using fire arrows in the swamps because i believed this was the case
I'm gonna use the mace to counter the stone golem
you know, i don't think golems are from norse mythology
Valheim isn't trying to be entirely accurate to norse mythology
i know, but i had that argument thrown at me when i suggested some not so norse ideas for how to expand the ocean biome
I think a midterm Is good, gives more options for the game developers
thats the beauty of valheim, having diverse and complex environment base in norse mytho
Oh, some people are just rude sometimes
But theres lots of cool people here
i'll post the idea i had here too… in half an hour, because i forgot the lightbulb
but that's peanuts to waiting two hours for berries to respawn
HI THERE FOLKS , IM hosting a game for a about 200 days now and my friend is unable to join , the server is modded , but even in vanilla he cant join me what would be the problem here ? he can join my other friend no problem but not me ,
he just did a factory reset
he aint on the ban list
not using VPN
HELP ! WE ARE AT OUR WITS END nothing seems to work and it makes little sense why , Anyone?? (mention me in the reply pls)
Hello, I am an admin and moderator on a handful of Valheim Discords and servers and I was wondering if we were allowed to share information on someone that is currently griefing servers and actively asking to join others? Or do we just let such things go here and let it run its course?
That's what @dusky pivot is for
Thank you.
??? what do you mean dedicated server ? , im not on a dedicated server
Multiplayer issue will have better advice from the channel dedicated to multiplayer people. 🤷♂️
owww
Hello Sevrahn! Thank you for educating me more on parrying and blocking, I'm destroying a lot of enemies now >:3
He hath become death... the destroyer of biomes.
It's just a question of time and resoucers ... until they perish
Great! Sword and Board, need da board!! I play on Iron Realms, and the mini elder bosses tossing vines everywhere needs lots of blocking before you get close!
Oh, the Elder I just jumped with 4 friends and we kept coming back until he died, each of us died 2 times i think
We all are mostly new to the game
I am! I need to stop using the wiki, cause it spoils the fun
I recommend that highly. Finding out by yourself is more satisfying really.
Damn, that wave of reactions from @rain flare was a sight to witness lol.
Lmao, I found It cool
Yeahhh, and I love getting scared by the creatures without knowing anything, makes it magical
It makes me happy when people appreciate the game for the first time 🥰
Seriously, Valheim is one of the best games ever made
Anyone want to take me through the game im so useless, but i must get to the end of current early access ending
🤔
What?
I'm just trying to comprehend the "I want someone to play the game for me" mindset.
i said take me through the game not play it for me.
You may consider to ask in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510.
It's the channel where others post their games, and it's likely there's someone in there who can help you in their game. Or your game.
got ya was waiting to post when it allows thought id ask in chat so long. im sorry to disturb you guys.
Clarify the difference?
Why would it not allow you?
said slow down
instead of observing an activity, id prefer to get involved and learn how to do it
Taking someone through the game means the person needs someone to carry them. Which also means that the one who's in that game is able to do things themselves.
Playing for someone, kinda means that the character is played by someone else. At least up to some point.
for example building, farming.
Best way to learn is by doing.
ive tried, you guys are misunderstanding me, i love this game. i just obviously have zero skill
well it could be fun activity if balanced, eg with my beginner friend i force my char to equip/eat with host's progression limitations, also made a dedicated char with same boss progression, balancing helping & no spoil too much is fun time to me .. this said i would recommend to try solo, no wiki, try-die-learn at least the first time since it's the best thing i remember playing
its not the repetitive dying or the struggle in obtaining resources i like that.
and it can't be reversed*
what cant be reversed
the very first try'n'learn solo experience relying only to in-game hints, awesome times
yeah i played solo things were moving and then it happened, i hit brickwall i could not go any further, then i played trio with experienced players i was a fly on the wall it was a complete carry. they were great fun though. but i guess ill just try again solo
Being led through the game by someone with 1000 hours in the game is not going to be a great experience.
i understand that.
very first 70/80 hours me and two friends were very convinced deers smelled players and approached from upwind, priceless times
Another day, another appreciation to Klossen.

imagine you find a fern dvergr farm. and the only thing you do not want to spawn spawns instantly right in it. and destroys all the shit.
I really wish I could forget this game and experience it new again
Couple of good shocks to the brain will sort that 😏
Theres a lot of games I would love to experience again
Im thinking of Nier Automata, but there are many more
If I could I would replay all my games again, I have the bad habit of getting spoilers before playing
some games gets absolutely obliterated if you read about spoiler stuff beforehand
Other games less. Id argue that Valheim isnt a game you can really ruin the surprise because the worth of it isnt about discovering stuff but rather taming the new stuff presented to you
I guess you can ruin the fun by reading on how to do stuff tho
Yeah, I ruined a few parts, decided to got trial and error now
I think somehow Valheim made me better at Elden ring
Maybe the parrying and dodging?
I never dodged in valheim, so I think the parry timing helped me get better at timing my rolls in Elden ring
i really hope this fortress will have a ||bloodstone|| for me
Assume for the gem cutter
Could be also new magic toys that require it.
how long do wolves take to tame
Same as all other animals you can tame, 30 irl minutes 🙂
wait how do you punch a drake
You lure him down 😉
nah. have that stuff already. i need the ||dundr, which opposing logic needs a blood gem and not iolites...||
Ah
How do you caress a greydwarf?
but hey, the chests outside gave me 3x ||jade and blood stones||
Gently ^^
i will be severely disappointed if it doesn't rekt everything
Remember, theres always commands
how do i pet a hare
With your bow.
With a sword
*axe
wait no thats mean
Yeah, you should use the arrow too
That is what must be done.
can't i tame them?
No.
Yep, just sneak behind It and use a knife!
That one is a fun toy.
Do it sensually
It's good in right uses. Especially against ||Morgen, who are weak against lightning||.
well. the issue is, i expect it to be much stronger than the ||lightning mace|| because duh, u cannot shield the unpredictable stuff from one
but that would require it to idk, 4-5hit one. and i veeeeeeeeery much doubt its that strong
2 shots when it's staggered.
And, it's fun to shoot logs around. #memes-and-clips message
Yeah, like I said they are ||weak against lightning|| so they take more damage from it. And since they are large targets you rarely miss them.
Morgens aren’t too bad, the only things I don’t like about them is how their limbs have separate collision and they feel too tanky with stars (Which is actually a problem for a lot of late game enemies
).
The Valkyries are probably me least favourite because sometimes they can be a bit tricky to hit with melee weapons.
I find it easier to hit Valkyries with spears due to higher hitbox.
knife*
When I craft in this game does it automatically use items in nearby storage containers or do I have to pickup every item needed to craft a given item?
second
Did the devs ever explain how that sort of tedium adds value to the experience? I’m sure there are mods to help with that but it’s a bit of a turn off for something I have an interest playing
Sorry if I sound snarky about it. As it turns out I’m snarky about it 😀
inventory management being a core aspect of the game
you would have 0 reason to organize materials in chests if you could automatically craft anything from nearby containers as it'd be pointless to do so
Organizing chests is just more tedium from my perspective. I’m playing a game to get away from the chore of real life.
theres always hello kitty island adventure
There are specific mods that solve this if you want. If you head to #mods-discussion they will point you in the right direction
Thanks for your input even if it’s what I wanted to hear.
I’m listening 😀
Did the devs ever explain why having to touch the ground adds value to the experience? I'm sure there are mods to help with that but it's a bit of a turn off when flying everywhere always would make the game better.
Imho its what made another game worse, flying does not fit in every game, I think lots of games gain a lot by just leaving it out, besides that you can already do it, Gjall, Squito etc technicall just a bit tricky a full blown flying mount imho would be bad for the game, it would make lots of challenges go away, and if you do it at the very endgame, then there will be no content to use it for.
And its extrenely hard to fully lock it and make it so people can't get it early.
Imo the only real hard lock right now is black metal and flour after Moder, some of the things to do with the artisan table, only get that with killing moder, almost everything else can be worked around and skipped around to your hearts content depending on your game knowledge.
I’ve gone pretty high on a volture before. Valheim already has flying
Agree, I don't think it should get easier than that.
Make Ashlands ocean 5x hotter so it cannot be skipped around 😏
Lock Frost Mead progression behind Bog Witch 😏
Doesnt work, I already sometimes die getting the meat
locking behind merchants which can be hard to find instead of bosses... hmmmm not a fan
Both of those suggestions are not practical. 😂
there is so many skips, like oozer iron, fishing is also insanely OP for this, you can get silver and iron from it and barley for instance, also onion seeds
its totally OP but because of that and it takes time it does add depth to what you can do
The only progression thing I skip is grabbing Oozer iron because you get so much stone mining copper that I feel like not being able to build with it until hours later is sort of a miss.
Also early onions and some fished silver for the cauldron upgrade can be fun
so you can eat onions from meadows to plains until you have enough blood pudding
Haven't found Haldor this run so fishing will probably be a Mountains thing if I find a rod there first 😂
And I personally hate onion soup.
Duration way too short for me.
Turnip Stew is like -5 stat for +5 min duration and +1 healing per tick
I'd rather eat onion soup then meadows to swamp tier stam foods, its also so cheap
HELL NAH, I already can't handle the golems
😁
also turnip is the second stamina one anyway, I always go HSS at that time
Got turnip and just got some onion seeds
And Im getting some wolf food from killing them
Wolf skewers are one of my healtjh choices in mountains
I'm getting used to HHS on the hope they let us play with the starred spawn rate in 1.0
It also allows me to be more aggro in multi-enemy scenarios because I can ignore some hit to burst down multiple targets and then worry about blocking when I'm down to the last couple.
Like HHS vs. Yag allows you to just stand in the fire half the time so he dies faster.
I prefer HHS right now, but I can try some hss
I stand in the fire with HSS 🙂
I do HSS all the way until I get first eitr food in Mistland
I get there’s lots of choices to make when building a game and they don’t all have to make sense to anybody. It just seems like a common choice/oversight to make base inventory management a chore. I’ll die alone on this hill.
people like inventory management.
for anyone else: mods exist
At least in this game there seems to be good mods for it. I don’t know yet - still waiting for humble to restock steam keys.
No such thing as a good mod.
I disagree
Not even a good qol mod?
Also, inventory management is hardly a chore in this game. It just takes a bit of forethought before setting out.
Alright, you're not too bad.
❤️
I don’t care for altering a game outside of what the devs intended.
don't mind it. not worth the breath.
Was I just referred to as 'it'? That's rich coming from a letter.
I spend all day in planning and forethought. Game are what I want to escape to.. maybe I need to reconsider my life choices.
a statement is an it.
But inventory mods are qol and those don’t count
it's your game, play it in whatever way you want to 🤷🏻♂️
I want to play it as the devs intended… except for anything tedious haha
Even the ones that are such good ideas they become an addition to the base game?
Then they're not a mod, they're the game.
re-read the statement
Maybe they think the mods here are “no good”
Question of the day:
Why is modified Valheim content being discussed outside of the recommended channels?
Didn't realise, my b
I won’t mention mods again here.
jokes on you, i am sting-resistant
Lost me at sting
You're not ban resistant though.
- Crickets *
Is DirtyDangles streaming something called Trailmakers? The thumbnail is still Valheim but the game reads Trailmakers.
i'll be fine, thank you very much.
All goods
Wasn't sure without popping in and I didn't fancy it.
Can we have a #moderators-discussion channel where we can all talk about you? 😏
Oh, you don't have access?
insert Nick Cages: no not the bees
/ banhammer gif 🙂
pummel them back to the right channels!
hi guys
isi there any eta for the deep north?
No.
rip
Also no.
what..
Them taking the time to do it well and release when it is ready is not "rip".
It is what more companies should do.
skill issue
no but im guessing next year with an update of similar size to the bog witch update this year
Organizing chests… I could probably find the skill to do it very well but I might has well stop lying to my wife about getting ahead at work after hours and do some real life chores. It’s probably more of an attention and interest issue.
hey, how high do I need an asksvin pen to be? they keep climbing over each other, and now one of my prime asks is lost after (persumably) chasing a deer :')
Honestly at the point just put a roof over it or at least an inward overhang
but what if it looks ugly :(
Better than having asksvin running everywhere\
tbh, in an ideal world I could move all my beasts to the plains. Or to the meadows base, and I can have the asksvin and loxen free-roam; I have a herd of loxen roaming freely outside my farmhouse in the plains. I bred them with the intent of slaughter but ended up with so much wild lox meat that I never slaughtered the herd and they just kept growing.
wasnt bog witch really small tho?
more of a medium sized
it added just the witch hut, feasts, some farming equipment and some food items, didn't it?
im guessing deep north would be bigger than ashlands
not a fan. gimme biome.
atleast bog witch is crazy good as an npc unlike... hildir
how many armor points should i have going into the mistlands?
🤷🏻♂️
level 3-4 padded armour should work
i have level 3 troll armor
general rule of thumb is to have maxed out armour of the previous biome when going into a new bi-
you survived mountains and plains in that??
i havent beat elder yet
oh
but i have taken out a decent amount of fulings
yeah, it's good with bows.
iirc I used troll then jumped right to silver/wolf armour.
i have been using a knife
helmet and chestplate, anyways. Never got heavy pants, upgraded from troll to fenris to mitigate the movement loss from the chestplate + tools/weapons/shield.
ah, makes sense. What knife? bronze?
chitin
ah, that's a good one I think
i mean if you are good at parrying, u can run around naked 🤷🏻♂️
Why parry when you can dodge roll
same same
Does anyone know how to get the blackmetal axe and pickaxe? I've done everything in mountains, am currently in plains and getting blackmetal, but can't find the recipe for axe or pickaxe
Bonus damage + stun
Axe you need more materials from plains. Pickaxe you wont get in plains
The pickaxe seems to need mist lands materials and the axe needs linen thread
Or just spoil it entirely, sure
okay, ty.
No? Doesn't make sense I have to go to a further biome to craft stuff from plains 😄 I only played when game first came out, so haven't done mistlands before
I'm not saying anything about what's in the mist lands though
There was no blackmetal pickaxe when the game came out, it was added with mistlands. Thats why you have to go there for one of the components
hmmm thought there was. been a while though
Nope. Ended at iron until that update
i've already ran around in mistlands. killed some bugs. a huge flying butt. rabbits. some dungeons. dwarves
You need the axe to get the pickaxe
BM Pick needs Ygg wood.
Yes
Black metal axe cuts the mistlands trees. That wood gets you the BM pickaxe
So your path is linen thread -> bm axe -> yggdrasil wood -> bm pickaxe
ty ty
My friends and I went to the mistlands without one the first time we were exploring 😅😂
You don’t even need the axe technically; but makes it easier…
True - but finding seeker soldier wasn’t possible at the time 😂
how much longer until we get 1,0
5,000,000 years.
You don't need pickaxe in plains, you do in mistlands
Pickaxes are mainly to get resources from the next biome, not just make mining easier.
Bronze pickaxe is literally the only exception of this
and dverger buildings can give up to 12 - dont have to find a soldier
Huh…
Didn’t think of that
the mind of a speedrunner is always looking for the shortest path 😉
Can lox take down yggdra trees?
no
Afaik Lox can't, but Seeker Soldier can.
Does anyone want to play with me in the mistlands?
You might have better success by searching or posting in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
But the slow and steady always wins the race! 🤣
I have seeker soldiers breaking things burned into my brain from the initial release 😅
I played in mistlands on my first world by visiting an area I already explored (so everything was empty unfortunately).
This culminated in fighting a seeker soldier while he smashed his way throw all the trees in the nearby dark forest (killing a troll on the way 😵💫) before I wore him down with a few hundred frosty arrows 😂
I played a few months ago, and now getting back into the game, I am confused, is there no inventory button? I can only see my entire inventory if I open a chest or smthing, what about just opening it without any container? I couldn't find any buttons
This kind of stuff would be very useful if I want to switch gear or tools
they have darksteel nodes in the plains, silver axes won't break them. Of course I'm getting darksteel from mobs, but was trying to mine it too
TAB key? 🤔
Black metal cannot be mined. It is found in chests or dropped by Fulings.
maybe it's a mod then, I am on a modded server...we have darksteel nodes in the ground
Yes, it would be modded
I hope they revamp the plains biome. It feels underLOVED
why are you feeling that ?
Can we make Straw hat one piece reference?😭
won't happen 🤔
or do you want mistlands mist in plains?
I don't understand why he thinks plains are underloved..
you seem to think I am along in thinking this
Could you at least give some arguments ?
Or just put suggestions on the channel ?
Cause even if you're not alone well not everyone think the same
No dungeons, fewer enemies, no dark metal mining requirement just to name a few.
Oh yep thx, I somehow missed it when going through the settings
Raiding fuling camps is much more fun than mining though
And in my opinion better than dungeons because you have room to move
If I'm right there are Hildir's towers, and camps of ennemies. And for the mining question what I find interesting is that every biome has a different method to get ores
It's original
dungoens and frost caves offer both
if the fulings were guarding black metal deposits
They guard chests of black metal which are faster to loot
not very creative to have it just loose in boxes, feels tacked on
like they forgot to do something with it
You can find iron loose in chests in the sunken crypts too
as well...in blobs but that's not the point
on the contrary for me it's so more creative than some other games. Most of them settle for doing the same mechanics for every regions. Here each biomes has new reflection to give something new
no. but developers and players aren't always agreeing
like. many people want dungeons in every single biome in valheim
when do they ever lol
and their reason for it
"because there is dungeons in other biomes"
like WHAT KIND OF ARGUMENT IS THAT
"just because"
Anyway I didn't want to start a debate, just suggesting like many others that the biome seems underdeveloped compared to the new ones and even Mountains
If that is not obvious than feel free to disagree
My main question remains why "underloved" ?
I don't mind debates
but since we are working towards a 1.0 with deep north biome as finish
going back to re-work or add more things to a "in our minds" completed biome, isn't very likly
I did't say I don't enjoy the plains biome but it has less STUFF in it
Maybe that's the intention.
What are your plans after the 1.0 update @near furnace ?
if you mapped out Valheims development just using the biomes you might notice plains was a break point before really new cool stuff was added lol
the running over the fields part of Lord of the rings, where the wolf riders are on their trail
the stone building in plains is even copied from the movie 😄
Now that you are talking about it 😯
What I love in plains are these vast expanse of beautiful and calm landscape, and then BAM ! A deathsquito x)
this one
Side note, after Satisfactory 1.0 was released their best update (IMO) was 1.1 which added a ton of quality of life features.
Is that door really shut then?
I wouldn't say closed 🤔
we have some ideas for past 1.0
but the main progression will be what it is
but say achivements
we don't want to undervalue over make them harder. once they are added
fair enough
but what would you do to plains?
#suggestion-discussion message This is all plains needs
Rides an Asksvin into the sunset
Add ducks or something, maybe a new kind of meat with it too
what would ducks add?
besides people wondering wtf ducks do in the afterlife 😄
I said here they just need to swim around and be awesome like necks
They're cute and silly like necks are
then absolutly not
- it's a boring plain normal human animal
- no
- doesn't add to the gameplay besides you can kick them around for exp training
Maybe they have different feathers for different arrows 🤔
hard enough to get people to use anything else than wood arrows 😄
Throw bread and they go crazy
I tried 🤷🏼♀️😂
Would be so fun 😂
Will there ever be cats or something similar?
give fuling furances and dark metal structures we can destroy
Where do they even get their dark metal from?
no
cats goes straight into valhalla
Oh makes sense
and my collegue answered that question on her instagram takeover 🤔
which I would recommend everyone here to look at
Lisa is our main Graphical artists.
is this another pointless debate about "i want these things pls add them NO IDC THAT YOU DEV I WANT THEM NOW I IMPORTANT YOU NO"?
no
Plains could have a new light armor set, I think its the only biome without one
it's more respectful than that 😄
yes and no
another day to add to the counter then, we're doing well
Hildir which unlocks fully when you complete her request. gives you tons of clothes 😄
Will deer be added to valheim
oh deer
yea, might as well just close the suggestion channel so they don't have to listen to whiny kids asking for stuff in their game because when do they even listen anyway....
the only change (balance) I'd like to see in Plains is a "minimum distance to boss" added to Yag boss markers, so the meme of boss markers next to Yag is fixed, given there are so little of them (relative to all other boss markers)
But what about beer ? 🤔
that I can agree on
more potential boss markers in plains
what is wrong with the plain biome? 😦
i love it
We have mead in tankards though
it got a lot bugs
if they were added as a small % chance to villages - OR simply make the stonehenge spawn a marker 100% of the time. Stonehenge is rare enough - doesnt need to an extra roll
Plains in my opinion is the best
i get scared of the beehive noises when i spend too much time in the plains : P
Not the same but true x) luckily it doesn't give a drunken effect
And no it’s not just because I don’t have to mine for black metal
in my 1st solo game, i did spend a lot of time looking for yag. i finally found a marker... like 20 meters from the boss xD
Maybe more jerky could be added, I think deer jerky is a real thing
We just got feasts, we don't need even more balanced-stat food
Only thing I would like for the plains is linking it to that lorestone about meteorite’s hitting the ground and getting turned into weapons
You don’t make it a common occurrence, just an Easter egg like Thor or Odin
In a land far from here I once saw a star come unfastened from the great curtain of night and fall into the sand. It glowed red when I approached but by morning was cool. Blessed sword-flesh, furnace-food, a gift of strong metal from the Gods!
Curious about that, are you using something like PCG in UE5 ? To generate a given numbers of a given object under certain conditions ?
@near furnace - do you remember this conversation about crossing to Ashlands
got a new method/trick to get across without a boat I worked out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAkvVYjEbBs
PCG?
They have a custom procedural script they wrote. It is pseduo similar to PCG in that it is "rules" that define how things are placed
For procedural content generation
I actually had a simular experience yesterday, but without the feather cape
of course have
Oh ok ty !
we tell the game. "Generate between X and Y number of <this> thing"
it's why some swamps are without a single dungeon, and some are littered with them
Ok, we didn't learn much things for the moment about procedural mechanics, so I was just curious ^^
depending on how much % of the map contains swamp biome
but valheim uses Unity game engine, and not unreal
In your opinion would it be a "must do" to learn unity for professional world ?
<-- not a programmer
Step 1 - close Unity.
Step 2 - download Unreal
Step 3- learn some Unreal courses from Udemy - Stephen Ulibarri I highly recommend (he has amazing quality courses)
step 4. don't pay for unreal
step 5. find GADOT
step 6 . victory
not a sledge at Valheim for using Unity - but if you are starting a career - I'd start with Unreal
you only pay if you make money - and 99% of games dont 😉
but yes - godot too is a viable option
Lucky me school pay it for us, but it will be hard afer studies I assume 😅
basically anything apart from Unity
Gadot? You mean Godot?
Unreal is free unless you make money
Oooh didn't know that
with arguably the most difficult option?
Godot should be first priority then
Thanks for answering this kind of question ^^
I heard a lot of people saying "you should learn Unity" at school
unity is a programmers favourite
Ok 👍
Me just getting hauled into the lore again.
Going through the lorestones reading up on Ulf, Astrid, Bjorn, and the others
Ashlands lore is so depressing 😭😭😭
I'll surely take look someday, never too much knowledge
ah yes the lonely valheim player, the anti social gamer who plays the same game over and over again looking for more purpose, more purpose...some purpose...any purpose ...
next patch
**everyone plays valheim for two weeks again **
Yeah, that question mark was my brain as well
Is there any reason to not smelt ores (ie: iron), or is the raw form only used in smelting so it's fine to smelt all?
it's only used for smelting
The pure metal is often (or always idk) heavier than the materials it's smelted from, so it's easier to transport by cart as an ore
Iron is definitely heavier
I see, I guess I have enough iron so I can just keep it unsmelted
How do you get iron before the sunken crypts
You dig in swamps 🙂
Obviously not 🙂
Then why do I have it
Because you broke progression 😄
Seekers aren't even that hard to kill
I am not saying they are am i 😉
That it indeed does 🙂
That is rarely true
So I have a unique opportunity to get some Dvegr gear by killing 1 mage. Should I do this and escape?
What do you mean gear
The Extractor for roots
Ah ok
You usually need to fight a lot more than one mage so it’s definitely worth it
Cool
Sorry was fighting a 1 star soldier by kiting them to herds of Lox in the plains
It takes 9 lox to kill a 1* Soldier
Taking mages first would be the best, in order of priority: 1. ice, 2. lantern, 3. fire mage. With root harnesk you can tank the shots of rogues.
I have a small gripe with Ashland rock spikes in the ocean. They are often too close to each other making it impossible to navigate the very LARGE new ship through
Probably
It's a purpose to make the Ashlands hard to access
They're small enough to full send a longship in though
But it will break up by the time you reach the shore
so you not suppose to be able to sail there...ok
You are but you have to find a path through instead of sailing straight to land
Probably to give you more time to encounter the Voltures and Bonemaws
I hate reversing irl so not happy about it with a massive boat
Just think of the ticks as very smart projectile attacks
That move as melee. Annoying AF
They aren't that bad
I am not very good at dodging. I prefer to block
Rolling around isn't what I am meant to do under pressure
Jumping is often better than rolling
Is it?
Yeah just bring a 2 hand weapon
It costs less stamina, doesn't lock your movement and allows you to perform another animation such as an attack or consuming an item while dodging. And while in the air, you aren't slowed by your attack animations.
Jump attacking allows you to start an attack from further away or can be used as a fast way to counter an attack that is too strong to parry
Okay Mistlands solo is gonna suck
Trying to get some petrified bone for black marble.. 3 seekers
At least I got the Gjall
Found a nice Dvergr bunker, might take it over
So looking forward to starting on a highly modded server this weekend! Any suggestions?
I suggest that you bring this to #mods-discussion instead
Nah, I'm not discussing a particular mod, asking if anyone can suggest a good modified server.
Still not the right channel, you might get lucky on #1024264966712340510 but in here you'll only get grumpy response
You have a point, I am reading up, here and in suggestions, some loud people dislike mods, but they don't represent the the majority.
hellloooo
It's just the discord's etiquette, we keep any discussion on mods or servers this and that out of the valheim chat. This channel is for discussing the game as is. Like or not...
Plus I believe we got some stats on how many players use mods the other day, and it's something like 15%, so it seems the vast majority actually do play the vanilla game.
Oh, maybe it would be best to rename the channel to Valheim Un-modded and put something in the channel description. Just an idea 💡
Most importantly, the rule is to not discuss mods or show screenshots with modded content in the regular channels, because it can confuse the heck out of players who are new to the game and get the idea modded content is part of the core game.
That's an oxidizing oxymoron
Maybe, but that would also involve renaming the help channel, bug-reporting channels, and dedicated server (all meant to prioritize vanilla game help). Much cleaner to point folks to #mods-issues, #mods-discussion, #mods-screenshots and #programming as needed.
(imo)
I'm not sure why this is even a discussion still.
There's a good chance. If it's an issue while running the dedicated server program, #dedicated-server will offer more fine-tuned help. Either way, give us an idea what you're encountering.
Without knowing your issue it would be impossible. You also waited a grand old time of FIVE minutes.
just need someone to play with me cz its to hard to play alone
Cool deal. Head on over to #1024264966712340510 and give a look around. If you don't see what you're looking for, feel free to post one of your own.
To add, if unsuccessful to find group for some reason, there are world modifiers where you can lower the difficulty until you've adjusted.
you can block ticks
only roll if they actually attack to your back, but if they attach to your front you can just hit them like normal, at least with a sword, and you can block them if they try to jump you
They are weak against pierce, so atgeir/spear/Porcupine deal better damage against them. Or if there are many of them, big AoE like iron sledge deals them quickly (||and later Demolisher||).
best iron wepon?
Depends 😄 everything other than axe i would say
If you just want one weapon the mace will likely be best as it is significantly stronger than other options against Bonemass and Stone Golems
I had a dream last night that Deep North was released.
Battleaxe wants to have a word.
Battleaxe is good, but the regular axe is not
Well that one is included since i singled out the normal axe 😄
-# tho i admit i forgot about it xD
But yeah, 1h axe is very skippable since bronze axe works even in plains.
when deep north releases is that the end of the game
Yes
There'll probably be an ending after defeating the boss, but yes, the Deep North update will be the final content update.
Man, the humble barrel has to be one of THE best additions to the game BY FAR
Compact storage with two extra slots? Count me in!
How do you get the barrel? 👀
Go to Haldor and look what he sells 😉
Huh somehow i missed this update. I haven't visited him in a while
It was added in Bog Witch patch.
can bosses have stars?
Nope
That'd be interesting actually... for future updates. I'd like to see a stronger version of elder. One of my favorite boss fights
You can give them stars using commands 😄 (They will still look the same tho.)
Managed to craft a Frostner before beating Bonemass. This feels great
Gonna see if I can find some more silver with my dowsing stagbreaker to upgrade my bow (or preferably find the bog witch first for dem sweet sweet buffs). Maybe also after getting my hands on some onion seeds
how do i place an iron cooking station without it destroying
you can't
i misread what you said.
iirc it needs better support/stability
Are you placing it on wood floor?
place it over a hearth
yeah i am
Make a stone floor or raise ground do it is basically the floor and put it on that 🙂 then you can place wood over the ground or stone if you want, and what Rianu said is quite common and good idea, place hearth on the stone/ground floor and then put the station on it
Clubs
just got to the mountain. any tips for death runs? no spoilers please
Keep a stash of frost resist mead at your base 🙂
yeah but the wolves just outrun and 1-shot me
Pro Tip: Don't die.
Awesome
You should be able to dodge them 🤔
no you can outrun it, just dont use armor that weighs you down
At least not for the corpse run 🙂
ehhh i got lucky and none spawned
idk how to outrun them, i run out of stamina and they attack constantly
so they get 1 hit in and it's over, can't really juke them around terrain either when jumping takes so much stamina
Yeah, go for stamina food and eikthyr power, and run for your life. It works as long as you can keep track of the terrain. I'd also recommend a small stamina recovery pillar just outside the mountain as close as possible.
@untold willow what's your food?
Noice good recovery.
i didn't have any good food but i do now
That doesn't answer the question 🙃
Specific names of food items plz 😭
i got like a boar stew and some sauce rn
Neither of those is a thing?
Yeah, no stam food is a bad idea 😄 best of luck in the future
There's a Deer Stew.
And if "some sauce rn" = Minced Meat Sauce -- food is a biome behind, which would be why wolves cause you problems.
Food is the most important stat in the game.
if you had to assign a realm to each biome, what would they be?
My initial thought was Meadows - Midgard, Black Forest - Vanaheim, Ashlands - Muspelheim, Mountain - Jotunheim, Mistlands - Niflheim, and Deep North - Helheim, but this leaves two biomes (not counting the ocean for obvious reasons) and three realms that don't fit cleanly.
Locate structures near/in mountains, mark them. Wolves can't cross thresholds (from my experience) so you can use that with either an atgeir, spear, or bow to safely kill them. Once you have mountains-tier armour you should be good to fight them normally. Also, in a pinch, the Bonemass power will be super useful.
Has anyone here tried the plan build mod??
wish you could use staves as melee weapons when out of eitr food
like in hexen when you run out of mana
I have wondered how Stu is getting on these days. Been a while since I've heard from him
does anyone know if the "no build cost" option applies to crafted items? or just crafting buildings? and what about building add on peices? like forge and crafting table addons
So I started a new game and then used a console command to get my unarmed fists to level 100. When I went to fight some basic greylings and boars I found I did the same amount of damage if I had level 20 fists? Does leveling up not give more damage?
i just realised one of my favourite things for valhiem will be achievements when it fully releases
One of your favourite things about the game is something you haven't seen yet and that doesn't even exist? That's... a shame.
Its something to look forward too, a way of being able to show progress
Your progression in the game shows your progress.
you seem to lack the comprehension for my statement so ill leave it at that
Wow, unnecessarily rude. Probably best to leave it then, yeah.
Sorry derek i'm not a fan of blunt needless responses!
You're very good at making them!
Ah well could have gone without this!
Yeah, blocked. No time for this nonsense.
He blocked you. You are now devastated.
This is true, can i send you a picture of my tear bucket that is currently full
Im that devistated bird right there...
As for acheivements, im sure the games will have them once its "completed". Who knows when that will be, though.
hopefully before 2026 me and my friend are planning to do our first modded playthrough when its in 1.0
gonna get a mod so he can build a tall ass wizard tower without it collapsing or needing 100000 flametal bars
This being said, I never was a fan of achievements. I dont mind if they dont put any.
I've always been a fan i like being able to look back on when i have done something and the milestone i have achieved
Perhaps. I just didnt grow up with those.
i've been scrolling through dereks previous messages bro js seems like a nuisance that calls anyone that minorly disagrees with him a troll 💀
Dont think too much about him.
I want fists to be a more viable weapon, besides flesh rippers. Has anyone had success with mods and leveling?
Valheim's resident pedant
did anyone else get free nitro or just me?
It is viable with patience and a good parrying shield
this makes me wonder what dual-wielding shields as weapons would be like.
I first played the game 2 years ago, and would comment stuff in here and get similiar responses. some things never change
guys are maces and hammers(frostner) count as a club in skills?
Yes. Also, frostner is just a mace that looks like a hammer.
guys do i really need to craft Linen cape? i have max wolf cape should i switch it?
no
so wolf is ok?
you dont "need" to craft anything. All capes have same armor apart from one at the end in Ashlands - you just decide - some have additional special stats
so im gonna kkep wolf thanks
Linen is a bit downgrade as it doesn't have the cold resistance like wolf/lox cape. But it is only cape that can be crafted with different colors, like most round and tower shields.
Linen cape is purely for the looks
Any other cape has a function to it
I’m hoping that the linen cape is changed so that it gives you some benefit to using them
not really xD
?
as intended
Just wear no cape. Problem solved. 😉
I can live with that I suppose… 😂
👀
No cape???
No CAPE???? 🤣
I can’t do that! 😅
I love my cape too much.
How would I do my dramatic swish swish entrance if I don’t have my cape??? 😂
💛 > ❤️
Wolf Cape 🔛 🔝
Do we know anything about a new update coming?
Only that it will not be soon, other things that were revealed are in #news 🙂
thx a lot
ChatGPT made this for me 😄
#screenshots message
I asked how it would improve the plains biome
...asking an AI how to improve such a game...
and it gave you fenris armor basically
with the troll armor bonus on top
truly AI is the future 😂
I find this really reducer to compare human devs work to AI suggestion
The response from AI will always be as informed as the data it's given.
If it has to find out by itself it get vague and makes mistakes
AI is also programed to never contradict the interlocutor and try to give what this last wants to hear
confirmation bias at it's worst
Do you like maces/clubs as weapon class?
Do you mean the knockback?
It has same range as swords.
Slightly better reach than 1h axes.
Frotsner has good spirit damage and cold to slow, with big knockback with the alternate attack. I prefer the silver sword against undead. No, stone golems are immune to spirit damage, so an iron mace is best against stone golems.
Against stone golems Frostner is worse due to the frost immunity of golems.
And also ||the boss is immune to frost damage||. Wolves and residents inside frost caves don't have resistance against frost damage so Frostner deals good damage against them.
No there isn't.
Frostner is viable for the next 3 biomes tho.
Better depends on the situation. Have you tried battleaxes before?
iron mace is the first weapon I make from iron. silver sword is the first weapon I make from silver.
Don't forget the fang spear, it's very cheap and does good damage even against plains enemies (not stone golems though)
Battleaxe might take some time to get good with it, it has slower primary hit combo, but it has good crowd control abilities as its primary hits have no multi target penalty and stagger multiplier is higher, plus secondary attack is quick and has also higher stagger and knockback.
Draugr Fang deals higher damage than Huntsman but drains bit more stamina. Huntsman bow has special ability to create smaller area of noise when hitting targets, possibly alerting less enemies.
I also prefer Huntsman over Draugr Fang tbh. Huntsman with Frost arrows is really good combo.
So I didn't know I needed to clarify but Stu is word play I got from Sevrahn's "There's a deer Stew.
Stew > Stu
No member named Stu was removed or anything like that
disco stew
Is it possible to make right click "build" and left click "deconstruct" when building? it seems like the "build" button is always set to left click
what do i havge to offer to spawn bonemass
Withered Bones
how do i use mead base resistance
build a fermenter
You put a mead base into a fermenter to turn it into mead, which can be used in the same way as equipping an item/eating food
You spawn everything the same way. You can check the wiki page to find a boss' id, because it's not always the same as their name.
okay thanks
guys what kind of set i need for mistland? i have max fenris armor is it ok? or shoul i craft padded set?
Fenris is fine, just don't facetank hits.
Fenris legs, Root Harnask and Padded Helmet (replaced by Carapace helmet later) might do.
If you like magic you can switch to the Eitr set later.
i havnt tried magic. is it mistland thing?
Yes. You will unlock means to use magic (called eitr in game).
ill use fenris then. the speed buff makes much fun to play and i think my dodge skills are decent so i hope it wont be problem
You could switch Fenris chest to Root Harnesk in case of need - seekers and ticks both deal pierce (seekers 2/3 of their attacks).
hmmmmmm aight we ll see
if i get like over 40-50 damage with fenris set against em ill switch it
And to not loose speed (and to actually gain some) you can make ratatosk potions 🙂 +lightfoot mead will also come handy in mistlands
i havnt even defeted plains boss yet
what is exact name of that? i couldnt find on fandom
first is for running sec is for jumping right?
Yep 🙂
cool cool ill give a try on em
Lightfoot mead is unlocked in Mistlands. Tonic material is bought from the Bog Witch.
Aaaah, true, you need something from mistlands for it, i dont use it so i forgot 😭
yeah it want Scale hide
Your viking is going to suffer from liver cirrhosis.

anyways i think its not that imp as a ratatosk
In mistlands you will apreciate it very much 😉 i am almost certain of that
It depends on the situation. It can help a lot for dodging some taller attacks, especially when combined with the feather cape.
is dodging count as jumping?
Jumping is usually better than rolling to dodge attacks
No, Blob is just a really invested in dodging by jumping strategy 😄
But not as reliable unfortunately 😦
Jumping doesn't give the i-frames like dodging does.
But jumping over the hitbox is the idea.
I don’t know exactly how long the i-frames are but surely in some situations and with the feather cape a jump could keep you safe for longer
But only if you actually get out of the way, the main advantage off roll is that you can just go through attack without much worry
But potentially, yeah, especially if you have the ||feather cape || 🙂 (mistlands spoiler)
Do abominations still have set spawnpoints or do the spawn randomly?
They never had set spawn points
There is a way, however, to see if a tree stump in the Swamps is an Abom or just a "normal" tree stump.
Aboms seems to "sweat", thus leaving some drops coming from them and fall into the water / on the land every once in a while.
They also have some green (mossy??) stripes on them and are somewhat more bright green as the "normal" stumps.
Both can be seen before entering their aggro range on foot, but if you have doubt, plant an arrow in them. Aboms will certainly be triggered when you do that. 🙂
guys is it normal that my windmill thingy is not turning?
and its not making any flour
Do you mean spin with the wind or adjusting to the wind?
Both should happen in the game, but some biomes have less or much weaker winds than others; which may have its influence.
And Meadows is a biome where winds occasionally seem to drop down to near zero speed once in a while.
Oh yeah, the Plains is quite windy
im in meadows
Probably.
In general the plains is the best biome to have a windmill, but that would also require to either build a farm-base or move your base to that biome entirely.
Considering you can grow all crops from the previous biomes at plains, having a farm-base or moving your base there is worth it.
But it'll be quite some hassle when you want to do so.
why its gonna be hassle?
Good thing there are portals and 18 cargo slots in a Longboat. 😄
Well, if you want to move your entire base, it also means you need to build a new house, workshop, all crafting tables with their upgrades and move all items you gathered over time.
Oh, farm-base isn't that much of a hassle.
Simply build the windmill, a portal to quickly jump in and out, cultivate some land and set up defenses.
You can spawn proof it with camp fires, workbenches or even torches, set up a palisade wall with 1-2 wooden gates around it and you're good to go.
And you can use it as an exploration point for that part of the plains.
Is this an international server?
There are people from multiple countries in this server, yes.
But it is an English-only-speaking server.
gang do ancient cave markings do anything?
Nope, they just add a bit to the lore of the game.
wish my friends were around so we could progress
😭😭 and I gotta find bonemass on my own world
thankss
So I defeated bonemass, now what? is the only thing it unlocked is the || bone thingy || ? or did it uncap me or smthing in terms of gear?
The thingy IS gear that'll be very useful in the next biome..
It helps getting the resources for geetting new gear, but that's it right? now I need to find the next biome ig?
Sure, 'that's it'...
I expected getting new recipes like the 2 previous hammers or smthing
When has a boss drop ever done that?
The stagbreaker/iron sledge r from after killing the boss no?
Or am I misremembering (haven't played in 5 months)
Nope, both are able to craft before Bonemass.
For Iron sledge you need to find Haldor and get one specific trophy tho.
1st, 4th and 5th boss give items that unlock new recipes.
So in regards of that you're correct.
2nd and 3rd boss give you an item that's more or less a hint to the next biome; although the one from Bonemass is a bit harder to figure out as the one from The Elder.
guys should i use BM sword instead of porcupine?
I think it depends a bit on what.
But in general you should use the weapon that feels most comfortable to you.
All matters of "should" are your personal choice and there is no wrong answer.
i was started to use hammers in swamp cause u can hit more damage to bonemass with hammers and its now lvl 38(clubs) and my sword is just lvl 13. is in mistland there is have something like 'most of the mobs have weaknesses to something'?
Nope.
aight thx
Main mobs in Mistlands (Spoiler) ||resist all physical damage types||.
But it's not impossible though ^^
I found fenris claws actually really good in mistlands. Kick stagger OP
Pickaxe against every single enemy. Got it 😄
Nah. Using the cultivator or hoe is much more fun. 😉
is there have some trick to find yagluth spawner?
ive searched 3 island of plains but i couldnt find it
Look for 4-5 large pillars that are slightly bended. Kinda like fingers coming out of the ground.
If that still doesn't work, then there's the valheim map generator site, at which you can check for boss locations, but also for their vegvisirs (which I recommend to look for if you decide to use the site)
nah i dont wanna see whole map actually and i know how does spawner looks like i just cant find it
Or scythe.
Hmmm, scythe with Fenris Armor and Feather cape. 🤔
That might kinda make you look like the Grim Reaper. 🙂
The bane of crops.
Given it's "you reap what you sow".......
Rewards those who sow a lot aka prepare better foods.
Well, if it would give something extra to feasts I think it might work.
should i use my hammer or my bow for yagluth? should i get in close range?
He is very resistant to pierce damage, even with elemental arrows a bow won’t do much.
blunt?
Silver sword and frostner are the best options, because he’s neutral to spirit damage.
Blunt, Slash, Frost, Lightning, Spirit those for neutral i think i could use frost arrow and porcupine or mybe BM sword
Porcupine has pierce damage so it won’t be entirely effective.
Did you not make either of those silver weapons during mountains progression?
nah ive used iron mace for all mount era
well yea i think frostner is best one cause it have blunt frost and spirit 3 thing that yagluth neutral to
Silver or black metal swords are ideal, frostner is ok
so u would pref bm sword?
Silver sword is, theoretically, maximum dps. But black metal is still v good if you dont have silver
i have around 350 bm
If you have more skill in club then Frostner will still do just as good or better.
Takes iron too, i believe
Yeah, really cant go wrong with either silver weapon
If you have a much higher club skill, go for frostner. If swords and clubs are similar skill, go for silver sword
club 36 sword 12 lvl
Probably not a huge difference. If it were me id level up sword some and use that
If youre in a rush, go frostner
How much skill do you lose on a regular death? Does it scale with your lvl?
You lose 5% of your skills
Which is exponentially worse as you level them higher and higher since they take more xp to gain
So at higher skill you lose more actual points AND they take longer to regain
Pro Tip: Don't die.
Hello, fellow vikings
i love how you are always the most helpful peopl in here
I am people?
Ppl on discord aren't ppl
That makes no sense.
no, the singular of people is peopl. duh
It's a joke of the absurd kind
I thought it was poople. Like how the singular of sheep is shoop.
sorry for the question but i just recently bought the game a few weeks ago and i'm ignorant about the development cycle, I heard there is going to be an update with a new biome and wanted to ask if posible, when to expect such update or like the timeframe it takes based on previous updates of that nature?
When to expect and timeframe are the same answer:
When it is ready.
If you've just started you'll be nowhere near the end anyway yet so you'll have plenty of time.
we reached mistlands with my friend, while idk how long it would take us to clear the next 2 biomes so we wanted to know if when we finish if it would be reasonable to wait or just create a new world meanwhile or something idk
in any case is there a place to check previous versions then?
What do you mean 'check previous versions'?
i kinda forgot the word for it but i found it so dw
guys i just kill the yagluth and now what should i do? i can craft wisp fountain wth is it for?
For collecting wisps.
any biom?
Yes. But only at night / in the rain.
is there is have any way to make night?
If you’re asking about day/night cycle.
Day time - 21 minutes
Night time - 9 minutes
is there anyone using DeezMistyBalls mod?
until you enter ashlands. then night is 29.5 mins and day 10 secs 😐
Haven’t gotten to Ashlands yet 😵💫 just started the Mistlands!
And to expand on this; since it is always raining in swamp, it means it works there the whole time.
is there any consistent way of stacking reinforced chests without having to free-place them? i want to keep things as organized and uniform as possible
u could create tight shelves.
If you are looking for an area where either condition is always on, swamps is always rainy.
Is it normal to have Mistlands/Plains enemies spawn in meadows?
After you kill the relevant bosses; yes.
Figured that was what was happening but wasn't sure, thanks
My favourite biome! 🥰
Mistlands is my favorite so far, might change with DN since i love snowy biomes
especially if you find a nice island with no mist
great building location
Does the || wishbone || "intense ping" will be obvious? and is it a sound, or visual or both?
Both, and yes it will be obvious 🙂
Ok good, cuz my hearing isn't great and didn't want to miss (really nice accessibility to have both)
Is it worth making || obsidian or frost || arrows for || drakes || or is it better to use fire arrows? || fire arrows do over time dmg which I like ||
Definetly not frost arrows, they are immune to frost (tho in later biomes frost arrows stay as one of, if not the, best ones you can get), so obsidian would be better, but for drakes even flint arrows are enough 🙂 if you already have fire arrows or if you are used to them then just keep using them. For mountain boss and after you will want at least the obsidian arrows tho.
Ye I have like 200 fire arrows so I'll go thru them, they seem to be weak to fire so I thought fire arrows might even be better than obsidian on them, is obsidian better only for the boss or also for the other mobs (compared to fire)
Also for other mobs, and for drakes too, they are indeed weak to fire so the arrows do 44 dmg total to them, and obsidian arrows do 52 dmg 🙂
I usually go through all the arrows i looted from Black Forest and Swamps before crafting and using obsidian arrows
The "people" of discord
is there any tips for getting non-log trolls to consistently groundslam?
I am "mining"
That attack has a 20 second cooldown
Any strats for making sure I got all the silver and haven't missed any?
dig around the node.
i mean that is usually the better way to mine anyway, since u hit the node once and it breaks
So it's all connected?
a silver node is usually a big Y in the ground. if you dig the stone around it away, then climb it and break the middle, it all collapses.
Alr thx
(multiple could overlap)
just get 20 trolls. problem solved
Then get the pickaxe 😄
I pick up flint arrows (and others that appear as loot) whenever I find them and use them first. At this point I reserve frost arrows and carapace/charred arrows for the toughest mobs, for general mobs I otherwise turn to massive stockpiles of needles, saves wood...
In case of carapace and charred bones, you get quickly a surplus of both when progressing throught Mistlands/Ashlands, bones even faster than carapace.
Frost arrows tho, they require active hunting of drakes if one wants to have enough of them.
Is || wolf hide || the heavy or light version? or is it the only version?
Only version.
Wolf armor you mean?
It's the heavy armor for mountains.
Fenris is the light one.
Yea the full name is "wolf hide <piece>"
How do I get fenris
Without too many spoilers, is it just killing some mob in mountains?
You need to enter the frost caves for that and collect the ingredients from it.
Mobs don't drop it but inside the frost caves you can find it.
Be aware, though:
There's one monster type in the forst caves that will trigger a raid which will kill your (farm) animals if you keep those animals in an open pen at your base.
Then why did u say only version lol
Maybe he thought you were talking about the wolf hide item
Yeah I meant the wolf hide, which is needed for both heavy and light armor.
My new base doesn't have any animals (also is it the || golem thingy || cuz I killed 2 already)
Ah I see,
Also which version should I go for, or what mix of them
I usually make wolf armor because fenris armor takes a ton of RNG
Nope, not the Golems.
But if you don't have animals at your base, the raid will just be downright annoying. But still possible to sit out easily.
i usually have the fenris pants on to just move a bit faster, but for combat i put on full heavy armor
Fenris seems to be goto for many players since it is the only armor that ||increases your movement speed|| plus ||other bonuses||. Mix of both heavy and fenris is also good.
For plains and Mistlands, Fenris pants, Root Harnesk and the heavy helmets are considered a good combination. Especially since the fire weakness of the Harnesk can be countered with the Barley Wine potion.
But for exploration of Frost Caves......... Better not use the Root Harnesk, as things tend to get hot in there once in a while.
And cape is only wolf hide variant no fenris?
No fenris cape, no sir. Not at all.
how mapless gameplay work? is there compass or something? im lost XDD
So I'd probably make helm/cp of wolf hide at the minimum and fenris pants
You can navigate with the help of Yggdrasil root up in the sky.
You can use the large Yggdrasil root in the sky to navigate.
Players also use the paths you can craft with the hoe and set up beacons with signs along coast lines.
And lastly, the old use-a-pen-and-paper-and-draw-the-map-yourself trick still works.
Also is it worth getting the draugr bow at this stage or do I wait for a diff bow? huntsman seems decent for now
Draugr is one of the best bows. Huntsman was the one worth skipping 😉
That's a matter of opinion.
Some likes the Huntsman bow because it requires less stamina to use, while it's also more silent.
Others prefer the Draugr Fang because it does more damage and has the additional poison damage. But the poison damage doesn't stack, meaning you either have to wait until the damage runs out or accept that you will reset the DoT-timer with each hit.
I also consider the material cost of iron vs silver myself
It depends if you seem it worthy. Draugr Fang has more damage (plus extra poison) but also more stamina cost. Thought Huntsman bow has special ability that other bows don't have: it makes noise in smaller area when hitting enemies, possibly alerting less nearby enemies.
I usually skip draugr fang
However, silver is easy to mine and usually plentiful and needed mostly for Mountain tier weapons, so you could craft one and test by yourself.
Ok I am getting very conflicting answers, so I guess I'll first get all the essential silver stuff before crafting it, and then just see if I like it
There is no right or wrong answer, solely depends on individual preference.
That usually happens if you ask if it's worth to use a certain weapon or which weapon is the best. People have different preferences, so you get conflicting answers.
One thing you can do is simply compare things on the wiki as it has all information you need: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Weapons#Bows
The difference in DPS between huntsman and draugr is negligable - its barely noticeable in reality - especially when you factor in higher DPS arrows like frost + obsiden etc.
The difference in practical application of the huntsman vs draugr is huge - you'll be alive many more times because of the huntsman not pulling 43 extra mobs when you shoot things. The ability to "snipe" mobs and pull them single (or in a much smaller group) is grossly undervalued by most players.
This allows you to get many more "sneak" first shots in on the huntsman, and therefore actually have a higher DPS than the tooltip might suggest.
Optimal play could even be tag/pull with huntsman, then switch to drauger for sustained attacks.
Alr thx all
Also lox hunting is much easier with Huntsman.
What's the next upgrades in terms of food? currently using sausage/turnip stew/dear stew
I guess turnip -> onion, but what for the others?
Also do I keep my iron mace or go for a silver sword or smthing? (I like swords but if a diff weapon is more effective for dmg I'd use that)
Keep the iron mace for stone golems. You could carry both. The silver sword is useful for the next two bosses and some enemies in ashlands.
For food; check this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/18CIv39YFMqIhB8horGHsp2OrTB4e5zcscHPotUR8MbU/htmlview#
... or the wiki: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Food
I prefer turnip stew over onion soup, since it's only 5 stamina difference but turnip stew lasts 5 mins longer, but there is also eyescream. Switch deer stew to wolf skewer.
Aight so I'll get it now and "dual weild"
Didn't notice I got the cauldron upgrade, I'd def go with eyescream, been stocking those eyes so got plenty
Are certain golems way stronger than others? I have one yeeting me to space but I defeated others that barely knock me back
There's only one golem
The knockback of their attacks is either 120 or 130 depending on the attack, so there's not much noticeable variance there.
I might've been behind a rock or smthing that blocked it
Actually 2 kinds of golems, other has spike hand which deals pierce when attacking with it.
Similarly how we have troll variants: with log and barehanded.
yo im looking for a dedicated server to play on with preferably rpg type mods, DM me
You can find people here: https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
Incorrect. There are two types.
No, monstrum adds the obsidian golem, it's not vanilla
One golem with 2 different variations.
Nobody mentioned an obsidian golem
Incorrect. There are 2 golem variants in the vanilla game
Ohh that's what you mean
Yeah there's 2
I didn't understand what you meant by type
It’s like log troll and other troll.
Same for golem.
And that means different attack types, resulting in different kickback.
That's what I meant.
My first feast has been made!
Im a log troll after eating mexican food
Wouldn't that be if you have not eaten enough fibers?
After Mexican would be the opposite, afaik.
True. Maybe im more of a growth after mexican food
Does the wishbone still activate even after I dug out all the silver?
No. If it is, that would be because something else is nearby.
Alr thx
Once you hit the actual silver one time, the wishbone stops detecting it
Good to know, it ended up being another vein which was nice
Yeah i once found 4 right on top of each other. I wish all ore were as easy as tin and silver considering how much more you need of it
#screenshots message @rain flare With extra care.
It despawned!
Some unstarred asksvin ate the food I left out for it
I know where they spawn now, so I will just be patient and try again
It was just too close to morning
Had to spend part of the night hidding from it so the thing de-aggroed enough to feed
What the heck has happened in my Ashlands? Been away doing other things for a week, building an asksvin farm etc, and now that I came back every single charred I meet is a one-star. Every damn one (and it is not night, so I'm confused). No spawners nearby so they have to be "wild spawns". What are the odds?
You know what?
The old wolf tower has never failed me
I'm gonna build a tower next to where I found it and wait
Digging a pit and dragging it with harpoon helps a lot or letting it jump towards the pit.
Well, consider how far away from the center of the world you are
All mobs get a chance to be starred the farther from spawn you are
That's RNG for you.
There is 10% chance an enemy spawn with 1 star, and another 10% chance to gain another star, so 1% chance for spawning with 2 stars.
Grausten tower won't catch fire. You can also build grausten wall and roof around the pit after you have left enough foods for it.
I'm building a tower on top of a stone pillar
I'll portal inside and just see how this goes for now
And so on... So now that I have just killed 11 one star of all three kinds and two non-starred ones, I think I'm ready to go buy a lottery ticket...
Uhhh, how long does it normally take for dropped objects to despawn? I dropped an entire stack of silver ore to make room for some wood for a workbench to repair my cart and I might have forgotten to pick that ore stack back up
Is there proof of this anywhere?
1 hour when not inside spawnproof area or over 2m deep water.
I think they are talking about the 800m radius 🙂
And not all mobs get stars.
That would be completely irrelevant in ashlands
I'm checking - I remembered reading it on the wiki
Looking through decompiled game code I can't find anything...
True true
Dammit, only one hour to find this stack I dropped
I might be mis-remembering this though...
I thought you get a higher chance of starred mobs the farther from spawn you are
Nothing like that on the wiki
Some creatures have a minimum distance requirement to reach a specific level but it doesn't change the chances
sigh
I do not believe that is the case, creatures can have stars beyond 800m from spawn and thats it, no proportional increase the further you are
I thought that was only for boars
I do believe that is for all 🤔 but not 100% sure
10% chance for spawn points (mostly one time), excluding Draugr and creatures listed above.
15% chance for creature spawners.
0% chance for spawn zones within 800 meters of the world center: Boar, Neck.
0% chance for spawn zones within 2000 meters of the world center: Greydwarf brute (Black forest), Troll.
0% or 10% chance for other spawn zones (see the page for more information).
Ah, it seems that 800m is for boars and necks only, my bad
Yeah also looking at it now 🙂
There goes my hopes for finding one again tonight
I've been going at this for a while now 😅
Should have prepped the tower before hand, but oh well
Learning together.
any new players arround aswell
If you are looking for people to play with i can recommend #1024264966712340510 😄
Half an hour left before I lose that stack
I should've taken a screenshot just in case I got lost this badly, assuming it hasn't despawned much sooner thanks to the warzone between meadows and swamp mobs
So fighting three one star warriors was interesting. Worked through a full stack of frost arrows but NO WAY I go melee on a group of those
One word: Klossen.

Only way I can handle those is magic
Nice big stick!
That, or one of the slayer swords
The best stick with a brick.
Twitchers are pretty much just burnt greydwarfs on steroids
Silver sword is my first choice for starred warriors
