Perhaps the wind change was coincidence. But I've experienced this multiple times now. Cross over lines in the water and have the wind change.

The wind changes 12 times per day, but it really isnt locked on certain biomes like raining is for example

yeah, you should always carry enough mats for a workbench and a portal, destroy the boat and portal back home

and i recommend having a portal at home base that doesn't have a name, if you're in dire straights you may not have the time to name it, so it'll automatically connect

but that does mean, you gotta farm a lot of crypts for the surtling cores until you find a swamp with a spawner

Yeah, not really a bug, just funky world gen. We've got swamp crypts with trees through them and all sorts. That's why we have so many of everything in the world.

The occasional tree or tree stump or small boulder (partially) blocking the entrance to a burial chamber is something I've seen often enough.
But this was new for me.

And in a way it also made it feel a bit more realistic. Kinda like someone dug that entrance partially out, then released the skellies and had to flee / got killed.

Which gives me the opportunity to explore that doomed tomb! :🤘

Every time we have crossed a lava lake or stood on a badalt bomb on one a fireball will shoot aimed for a player knocking them into the lava. Usually leading to 20+ minutes of trying to get to the grave where that happens.

they seem to block the fireball from what I saw. But maybe one could spawn inside and still get you. Not 100% sure - but I know they do block some of them for sure

I think Mistland takes about the same time as plains to get through, but Ashlands can easily be twice as long as that.

All in all, Meadows, Black Forest and Swamp will take about 25% of your time (building not included), Plains, and Mistland will take about 20% each and Ashlands the rest.

So I finally mined 120 iron and in the process of smeltimg them. I play with 2 friends so we prob gonna be sharing the iron. Ofc 10 iron for longship and 2 for stone cuttr.

I know forge upgrades are also needed, but the one area im confused about is shields. I know buckler is more popular bec of parry bonus, but it seems like banded shield allows for more safety incase you get surrounded, espescially venturing out at night.Thoughts?

Buckler and parries will let you kill
Enemies quicker so less chance of getting surrounded, avoid getting too close to the enemy spawners

and conserve your stamina as much as possible, you don’t need to run everywhere

As I said yesterday use the reinforced iron chests as they give the best storage slot / size ratio.
You can build them on top of each other using a 1x1m wooden floor piece attached to a wall.

You can move a character from one world to another and still have all the gear, skills and crafting items unlocked in World "B", despite having less bosses defeated as in World "A".

That means, if you want a character to have certain aspects, you would have change the settings for the world, not for the character.

Like: setting "No build cost" on in world "B" will give you the chance to build the same stuff as in world "A", without the need to unlock it again.
Same goes for the skill penalty and other world modifiers.

Also means, if you want to have some of the things you mentioned and which aren't in the world modifiers, you will have to create a mod that changes that for a specific world. Or one that does that for all worlds you create, like a lot of mods do.

I do miss this place but I'm horribly slow at getting to Mistlands/Ashlands. I did kill Moder on my current save a couple of days ago though so I have hopes for this one. I've managed to stick to one small base and not get distracted too much so only 145 days in or so.

Pro tip: Don't get a you are being hunted event while fighting Moder. It is unhealthy.

Not lava. A square tile of earth will get hot and burn anything on top.

I used a cultivator on plain dirt in ashlands, and it become hot.

I also used a battering ram, and the place where it was running became hot earth.

It's not like a flame is there, but the earth itself gets orange and hot like near lava.

Is it just me or did something change in the spawning rate in Ashlands? Until today I never ran into serious trouble progressing but now I died like 10 times just by going to the remaining Flamemetal spire.

I assume that this is so, on multiplayer servers, people don't get messed with by later content that they aren't caught up to. I'm usually starting a load of metal being smelted in the morning and a load of coal running at the same time; do things for the entire day and by the time that's done, I can refill both devices. Either sleep or "work" at night and in the morning the next batch is done.
Gives me a yield of two batches of each a day, which is sufficient enough for me to get everything done.

when you're playing on a server and add stuff to a cart, the weight of the cart doesn't update on the client for a moment, possible waiting for the server to verify something. I emptied a cart and then filled it back up with iron and ran up a steep slope before it updated :)

First expedition into the Swamp on my Hard+ game.
Spotted the Bog Witch and upon entering found Turnip seeds, found the Bonemass altar not far from the Witch and spotted at least 2 Sunken Crypts. Plus I - barely - survived the encounter with a 1* Draugr, which dropped a trophy after I managed to kill him. I even spotted an abomination spawning at the Bog Witch campfire, but that thing ran off before I was able to kill it.

I think I need to find a goat so I can sac that to the SNG tomorrow. 🙂

Also, in terms of wanting the game to actually be finished some day, think about the amount of work and effort that would go into giving you eitr earlier.

Completely new foods, weapons, armors, and resources would have to be designed, developed, tested, balanced, and then put into the world which would change literally everything about how the world is generated.
So after all that effort you would also get the classic wave of "my world broke" or "do I have to start over to see the new content?" or "I went to the marker and the stuff isn't there anymore."

Just... big headache for very little payoff imo 🤷‍♂️
