Farming, building, exploring
Building, exploring, playing around with different weapons. I already finished the game twice, i see no point rushing to the finish.
I’m running low on iron rn so ima do that today and explore some more
gonna be like a 10 day mission at least
ya i know no point in rushing to the finish but it kinda just happens naturally
Yeah, after finishing it more than 10 times i dont see a point in rushing 🙂
not if you build a lot
It just depends on how you play the game, I’ve not even started fishing yet but I’m planning too while looking for iron
i think i didnt even get to the shores of ashlands until like 450 days in
yea maybe thats why my runs a´re so short, i build so little
ive never fished lol
i got to like day 100 or so before i was happy with my initial meadows/BF base. Things didn't get faster from there lol.
enjoying the vibe, building nice fancy bases exploring more map do sightseeing 😄
build paths through the black forests, stairs up to the mountains
going fishing too 😄
yea if you dont enjoy building there is not a lot of stuff to do for a long time in a world, but if you do you can stay in the same world forever
Fishing iron pillaging and serpent hunting is the perfect trio
can someone help me and my friend to beat yagluth
like in person or give advice? What armor and weapons you using
yes but it would ruin the fun, hes supposed to be a challenging boss your first time
im trying it for a long time i cant do it anymore bro my game is way to laggy to beat him alone i need help i dont progress in the game anymore
Wym beat him alone
with my friends we cant do it
what is your equippment? Food? and why alone you said you had a friend?
alone with my friend sry for my english
I recommend maxed padded or fenris, barley wine if running padded and your best health and stamina and food
my padded is all lvl 4
silver sword or frostner or black metal sword
i have frostner and ategir
it's okay... question is if you have been trying for a long time and no success you might want to consider your armor and weapon and food/mead
Frostner heavy attack should make quick work
What is killing yoy in the fight ? If it’s the lag I’m not sure how you’d solve that and people trying to help would face the same issue
i have been dieing to yag anytime i did try padded - i always use fenris now 😄 never died since but that is my personal choice would not recommend for anyone 😄
Yeah fenris makes dodging so easy
the lag makes it way harder but i still enhjoy the game but cant progress
and the fire resistance is nice too
any Idee what causes the lag?
my pc
What settings do you have?
I mean if your game is so laggy then every person that would come to help you would face lag to probably?
no my pc is trash
low fps
well... a mulitplayer game can not go faster than the weakest pc in the mix
i dont host the world
so if i came with my big fat machine I would be dragged down to your level too anyways
the games would go out of sync and then things would be really whack too
did you put all your settings to lowest to reduce the strain on your machine?
i have heard of people playing this game on a fried potato PC with not to much of an issue... it is hard to diagnose what is going on on your end... where is the person situated hosting the game? are you connected via ethernet cable or wifi... there are so many variables that could cause the lag
if your friend was in the US and you in UK that could be an issue
@atomic forum i can still help you kill him if you want
yes please
dm me world code and stuff
wtf stone hedge rings in plains has special music?
yeah, a few structures do, like villages in meadows or ruins in black forest
Makes for really cool portal spots!
the rooms, where cultists are, in frost caves also have special music
Also Greydwarf nests/spawners have their own music.
Special music is a significant consideration to my building a base.
which is why it's a shame that the meadows ruin music only plays once per location per character because people for some reason complained about it infinitely playing during the mistlands PTB phase, i'll never stop being mad at that change
Loud minorities are rampant.
I agree, yeah, it’s cool having those alternate tracks. I have a watchtower at an old fuling tower location and the music fits it really well.
Anyone have any tips on where to build a base. Im in black forest and have my base probably a 3 min walk away from it and i kind of want to make it back towards spawn because of the coast and boat traveling. I want to start building a larger base even though im only like 10 hours in? any recommendations. I saw something about plains farming and showed that i should just use portals if needed
Are you newer to the game? If so, I would recommend building your base in the meadows on or near a coast line 🙂
Being near the ocean is always important, unless you’re building on a mountain
i am and would that be like permanent or would i be moving everything. I hate transfering everything to new bases over and over
If you want it to be permanent, build further from the centre of the world so you have more biomes nearby
Gotcha, yeah you can absolutely have that as your permanent base. I won’t spoil much, but you’ll have opportunities to have outposts for different purposes dotted around, with easy travel between them.
ive spoiled a good bit watching videos on where i need to build a base sadly so you can say whatever and further from the center? i figured building it near the center would be better @nocturne wolf
If you’re close to the centre, you won’t have many different biomes nearby
ahh okay can i dm a pic of my map and you can see what ive seen so fa
Yeah, the further you get from center, the more diversity you’ll see. It’s definitely not super important to be close to spawn- as you can always TP there to swap powers.
i dmd it sorry i didnt know there was a channel for that
yo i just downloaded the game after 6 months, the community servers are so dead do yall have any good server to play on?
any tips based of the SS? @nocturne wolf
Hmm it’s honestly not a lot- only because you haven’t explored much yet. The coast on the northwest seems kinda nice though.
okay thanks for the recommendations. Any tips on how to move everything from one place to another i have portals
Biggest ticket items will be your metal. See how many trips it will take- if it won’t take a lot just hoof it with Eikthyr buff. If it’s a lot, might be worth it to load it all up on a boat with a cart on it or something.
@pine robin
i still dont have the cart or boat i dont think im not sure how make them
Who else exploring around Mistlands just for the sake of it?
Make some bronze nails 👍
I am, actually 👀 how’d you know?? Trying to get some extra black forges lol
Fireworks*
Heh, I'm just exploring and looking for new mines to test my weapons, this time my Brutal Slayer.
Looting all the sausage I can from the mistlands, that’s my objective. Need to know how many sausages are available in my world. For science.
And your wolves will never be hungry again
technically sausages are an entirely renweable resource
It’ll be like Kongs banana hoard, but with sausages.
Dvergr sausages aren’t
Premium Dvergr sausage 🤌
arent the dvergr sausages just regular sausages tho?
When did Dvergr drop entrails? 👀
just use their trophies, nobody will notice the difference
Dvergr sausages are made with only the highest quality ingredients
imagine: levels on crops to make higher quality foods
heck yeah, 2 star carrot
this deer stew is gonna be LIT 🔥
2 star bukeperry 💪
Dies from consumption
Final Boss:
Eat this mega bukeperry & survive it.
2 star bukeperry: causes mass vomiting for all players on the server
Contagious vomit
makes even the elder vomit
ah, but if we did have this, could we make a vomit loop of 10 people?
that is actually the worst thing you can do in a crowded space
would they all die from the vomit damage??? I think they would
Not like they've got any health regen
Yes 🙈
They would
Slaying nasty bugs in their den with Brutal Slayer feels 💪
Overall 2h swords becoming slowly again one of my favorite weapon type.
If only they didn’t have multi-hit penalty like their 1-handed counterparts👀
But yeah, the slayer is so freaking cool lol
This game really try to get me to play like Dark Souls, huh
not me losing my swamp key and going to bonemass to get it only to promptly kill him, realise tis elder i need to kill and get a nice freeze gland delivery from some drakes that decide to raid my bonemass arena
Parrying everything and not dying to stupid shit
couldnt be me 👀
Sadly yeah. But single target damage with secondary hits is great.
Still, better than Dragonage Veilguarf
You can crank the difficulty high enough that parrying just gets you killed
And parrying everything isn't always the right thing to do
Sometimes dodging or just hitting first is better
do not parry the growth
does wine, flametal armor, and yagluth forsaken power stack?
for flame resist, i mean
Nope, they don’t stack.
oh. are they all equivalent?
There are basically several levels of resistance in the game - weak, neutral, resistant, and immune
The game just takes the highest resistance and goes with that
None of these items give you fire immunity - and no, having multiple instances of resistance does not grant you immunity
Flametal armor doesn't provide reistsance to fire damage. Heat resistance is for the delay before lava and boiling water will damage you.
yeah "heat" refers specifically just to the damage in Ashlands from lava or boiling water
and to my knowledge nothing else, meanwhile 'fire damage' is completely different, coming from many different sources/kinds of attack
so basically either i have wine or yag power, but both is redundant
sort of--yag power provides resistance to frost & lightning as well, and moreover I think each is separate such that if you have the wine and yag active, you'll still enjoy the resistance to frost & lightning wine doesn't provide, moreover I BELIEVE (don't quote me as I never use Yag's power) the resistance to fire on Yag power is just "regular" whereas the wine resistance (like IIRC all potions providing elemental damage resistance) is VERY resistance, i.e. x0.5 versus x0.25 damage
Yagluth's power isn't very useful because of resistances from capes, armor and mead. Eikthyr or Bonemass are more useful in combat
Wait what?
If an attack is too strong, a block/parry will fail. High difficulty means stronger attacks so there isn't as much you can parry
So you roll
Just like Dark Souls
say that to || foder || after running out of wine
If any attack has a hitbox small enough to be jumped over, jumping is better
It costs less stamina and won't lock you into an animation so you can start an attack or drink some mead or do whatever while dodging
Got a nice haul of 200 iron today
yay, thats a fully upgraded tool 😄
3 crypts and ones still about half explored but I’m kinda done with crypts for the near future
eh I’m gonna save it for padded armor
im half joking, iron equipment uses a LOT of iron
you'll need more. might as well finish that swamp.
It’s all good I have a maxed iron pickaxe and haven’t killed moder yet
Just doing a lil iron restock because I’m running out of storage space
theres stuff that needs like 60 iron for the last upgrade only
Max padded set is 96 iron so I think I have enough lol
Well yea and no like you're staying potions are better the potions override the yagluth power
Aw man it’s stormy and I don’t have my harpoon on me
Personally I don’t think iron tier weaponry and armor is all that important other than iron pickaxe you can skip the rest
I did get some basic lvl 1 iron armor for boneless fight and early mountains exploration tho
Bonus 7 serpent meat for the road home
I think my next mission once all this iron is smelted is to finish my silver armor and prepare for moder
Well technically none of it is important lmao but i like getting iron so i can speedrun silver
I spend less time dicking around if i got decent iron and you'll need iron for padded gear anywho
Max iron pick and basic iron armor got me frostner and silver shield within an hour of beginning mountains
I wish lord reto dropped a trophy
oh crap another serpent spawned
I was actually looking forward to hanging it on a wall next to the other mimibosses
13 meat and 200 iron ggs
What am i using catapult for exactly?
Fun?
I guess but i got a lot of resources stockpiled
I basically no life this game I have over 500 flametal
My first week with the game properly I think I had like 40 hours or first two weeks
Bro is unemployed
I believe I might actually have been at the time, I had just bought the laptop and then literally within a week got fired for some bs
Ah fair enough
what do you guys think better to equip with embla set. askvin cloak for dodge or ashen cape for armor?
Played a server with friends for the first time. Loved the game until the swamps. Every biome after was worse and worse, becoming hours of pure frustration and grinding with no fun. Got to the Ashlands, gave up as it has 0 rewards worth the frustration. 2/10 will never touch it again.
Bro basically admitted to being mad cuz bad then dipped. RIP
the ashlands is weeding out the whiny skill issue lads 🧡
fuck i love that biome
devs are the best
Ashlands gave me an absolute reeming last night but like hell if imma throw in the towel.
8/10
Got my basalt bombs, started harvesting flametal and kept getting knocked off by lava spouts.
But we persevere.
the only critiques i have 😾 but few and far between, if there were going to be so many flametal weapons why not add the battleaxe, fists, atgeir & hammer, if you have literally everything possibly else you can, and i mean the upgrade cap now that there are enchanted weapons seems just not adequate to me, i know you can get level 4 carapace armour when you get to the ashlands but like hell am i going to do that when theres a new armour set? no way, and i feel like the same thing is going to happen to the deep north, So i think while we're where we are we should be able to get one extra upgrade level.
Also the spires in the boiling sea should be further apart and the dyrnwyn should be buffed
other than that i have no complaints literally at all, definitely not about the difficulty cuz i an't no bitch
You can easily upgrade carapace armor since you will have materials for it stashed away anyway, so why not, it will take you some time to get stuff for flametal armor any way and until then the carapace will do great
I never did, The instant i was able to i switched over to flametal armour because why wouldn't i 🥴
Never have i ever gotten level 4 carapace armor.
upgrading the carapace saved my life this run because my gosh did it take me long to gather enough flametal for something better ...
and every armor point helps survive until you get the stuff gathered
I don't think that should happen again, i think we should get to have level 4 flametal armor for the deep north.
I like polearms ànd parrying with 2h weapons. I suggested a flametal atgeir, but it was apparently unpopular.
and the other armor sets obv.
When mistlands released we could only get the equipment there to level 2
yeah that sucks horribly
with the sheer amount of carapace i came out of the mistland i had no issues to upgrade everything to max i wanted upgraded and have loads to spare
We very well might, the mistlands also got another upgrade for black forge after it was released but before ashlands
Why? Cheaper max gear
i mean the only real cost for l4 carapace is the 18 refined eitr. You'll be drowning in carapace and scale hide by the time you hit Ashlands.
it would be kinda cool if the mistlands also got another upgrade level....could you not fully upgrade iron gear, on tier with getting iron?
why should it be different with eitr and flametal
also the way i understand it is that the gear you get in one biome takes you through uintil you get the next better that will takeyou through to the next better
Obi, do you really have to try to find problems where there are none?
Yeah but you don't get to upgrade troll or bronze armor or weapons fully to level 4 on normal progression
sure it is easier in the ashes with the ashland tier stuff but it is doable with the carapace too 😄
I don't like-y
Thats your problem, why make it everyone elses?
don't make me hack into the mainframe
ya we need some sink for seeker mats
well i make a point to upgrade everything to full the moment i can...fallback armor is a needed thing incase of accidents
especially carapace
Their meat is great base food 🙂
ya
They're my go to for crossbow bolts
carapace bolts don't need ashwood so i still use them over charred bolts
ah im an xbow unenjoyer so wouldnt know
Tbh you will be drowning in charred bones too so the charred arrows and stuff are not problem either 🙂
living off off seeker aspik still 😄 got so much i never bothered to make the ashlevel equivalent just stuck with the aspik
This almost entirely for me comes from the max level of enchanted weapons being 2
As was mistlands gear for time, and then we got upgrades...
Aspic and Marinated Greens 👌 Both having 30min duration.
That is insinuating for me that there might not be much more in terms of weapons if we can only fully upgrade those ones in the deep north..
i don't care about the bones but i'd rather use my ashwood for building instead of bolts or arrows that do a tiny amount more damage.
Unless deep north weapons are added with a maximum upgrade level of 1 🗿
Understandable 🙂
yepp very convenient ... picante pie with it and i am good to go
Picante lol
Otherwise we get like 3 upgrades for the black forge in the biome..
You could try Mistlands feast, gives balanced hp and stamina plus extra eitr.
as of now my only gripe with the game is... Deep north will be the last new biome 😄 ...
and the galdr table ofc
it would be sad if the max level of deep north tier stuff is not the max level.
a higher feeling of reward for reaching end-game.
I am still in the experimenting stage with them feasts... i am using the lower ranking ones to give me 2 days of working time to build and gather stuff without worries 😄
That would definitely be a very strange decision if they did that.
I have a few qol gripes and would like some more interesting ship(s) but that's it
unless another upgrade for the black forge & galdr table was added in the mistlands and ashlands then there would be so many that would have to be added in the deep north it would be kinda weird 👽
if everything in the biome requires a further level to craft in the first place especially
If you guys have stuff to suggest there is the #suggestions channel for that, and if you want to monologue about it all day and night then you dont even need any chat rooms...
I don't have you on a leash to engage 🐦
I do have more gripes with my life being so busy that i can not play more 😄 he he he
Already said my piece there
alrighty 👋
sad...tomorrow i need to help a friend set up computer stuffs, on thursday i have a friend coming over that needs help with some sewing to repair some clothes... I will only on Friday be able to record more gameplay 😦 and still 10 years to go till retirement 😄
im hoping they release 1.0 and then maybe a year later release news that they are working on DLC, like ocean DLC or something
I am afraid they said hard no to DLCs (the exeption being the odin stuff)
True, we will have to see 🙂
maybe they have worked on valheim for so long so they are kinda burned out and after some break time, they might wanna do more
at least thats what im hoping
Sounds kinda like what happened with Terraria/Minecraft etc.
That they added more content later.
Terraria has had like 5 “last updates” 😂 ||I love it||
loltrue
"Last one I swear" -Re-Logic after 5th "last update"
I too think after working on that for so long they might want to see the end of it and do something else for a while and maybe maybe after a while they might have a great idea and will do some DLC none the less... would not be the first time something like that happend...we shall see... meanwhile i am gonna practise building with the ashland stuff 😄
Sounds like me while having some beers and its time to go home XD
Friends 'n I gotta reach ashlands
I have officially collected every trophy in the game
reached ashlands all by my lonesome self neither the husband nor the son have reached it yet 😄 little proud i got there and am able to survive it now too
Nice! Best of luck with the Ashlands
working on the trophy thing too... the only one that i never gathered is the fishing hat ... but that shall happen too... i love to have portal houses featureing all the trophys from a biome 😄
just got cultist trophy on like my 5th cultist
Can't wait to hear my friends' confused screaming as they get bowled into and mauled by a spastic bone horror
why is the game being so nice to me today
Bro idk why that shit took me like 30
there are some really elusive ones... i had to clear out like 20 frost caves to get me the cultist trophy for the fenris armor 😦
my first time round with a friend it took us over 40 cultists for just one
Not me getting 2 of them in first cave i found this playthrough...
the second one didnt take much longer tho thank god
yah and the draugr elite trophy has me standing at a spawner for some days and killing everything that comes out until i get it .
I suggested a mead to increase trophy drop rates and it was hated iirc
Nah the draugr elite for me was easy enough
I already had so many trophies related to the swamp
Building with Grausten is fun, the building pieces gives lots of ideas of decorative look.
well... i never have any issues with having enough entrails after all those frostcaves and swamp spawner slaughter fest
RIGHT
Its actually not even funny how much food i have i literally couldn't eat it all if i tried
Still prefer black marble for a cozier construction.
same here... i usually store extras in the older bases (i leave them completely intact and just build everything new in the new place so plenty of extra storage one portal away 😄
Looking forward to making a forge & refinery building of black marble again
I am planing on taking my current private charakter to a new world in hammer mode and go to town with building to my hearts content without being desturbed 😄
and for now i need to go to bed... good night and may you not dream of heaps of flesh with out a head or a limb under the earth (what a nightmare)
I really like the ashstone stuff
dream about mead
Maybe its just me but it looks clean
I also like Grausten a lot
's too fancy for me
How would anyone hate on that bruh
i dunno
Trophy hunter mead would be perfect have it unlocked like mountains or swamps
Bog witch or maybe have the frost caves have a fountain that has Mountain Dew as a ingredient lol
Is frostner the best weapon in the game? Oh god it demolishes everything
It’s pretty powerful and has a lot of uses, yeah
it's rarely the best option but it's so often near the top that i would say it's the most consistently useful weapon in the game
I'm getting my revenge on swamps
Think Frostner might be my favorite weapon in the game 🤔
It's one of the MVP weapons in game.
It’s also really iconic, has a great design, and uses Ymir flesh which is an interesting material in my opinion- the entire Frostner experience is just super solid.
Dyrywyn is an extremely close second for me
I wish lord reto had a trophy man it bothers me that it doesn't
I use it against stone golem and abomination and it’s still pretty good even against them
By no means optimal but just fun to use
I wish it was little stronger but its fine i like the option and the look i just wish the weapons did more than 10 elemental damage its so little
I think the elemental damage is just there to make the effects play
😭 yes and no it makes a difference
And dyrnwyn shouldn’t be too strong as it’s not trying to invalidate the other 1h swords at all
Yea but its literally 5x harder to get
Just to be slightly better which im not complaining its cool af looking and i love fire damage and lightning damage
I use that sword with a thunder mace poison bow covers almost all damage in the game
It’s more of a trophy sword than the ultimate sword
I’m definitely going to be rocking it when I get my hands on it that’s for sure
Didn’t stop me from using it against Fader 😂
Oh dude its still really good it does 10 extra damage
dyrnwyn, frostner and I guess himminafl
Humminafl is still one of my favorite weapons
That kind of lightning damage is what i was expecting btw less physical
Less slash and blunt and more zap zap and poison
Fire does have the benefit of stacking
Exactly hence why i love fire
Poison damage is almost entirely useless in ashlands
In the Ashlands yes
But its used for the freezing effect not the damage
The actual effect itself is the strongest I'd argue but its damage is the weakest i think that's fair
Which effect are you referring to
The thunder stuff is my favorite its free crowd control and nothing is resistant to it
Lol I just noticed the hat in your pfp @nocturne wolf
20% chance to paralyze
Thats SUPER strong on bows for example
Works on fader too
Oh you mean the green gem weapons
Yes the poison one
Klossen
The blood ones are non arguably the worst.
Klossen looks cooler but i use the shock mace because blunt and shock works better the knockback and crowd control is better
Would blood ones go well with berserkir mead? Easier to drop to low health and then do insane damage
I love how klossen is just a brick basically
Am I the only one who prefers using the raw version of the Ashland weapons? Lol
Actually the shield staff:) but yes it would
But use the staff to grant armor but Lower your health little life hack
blood weapon + shield staff + berserkir mead
I just prefer to have frost fire poison health meads on me ngl
I redid fader because i wanted a second head and using the staff was very important the trollstav is kinda cheesy but it works but you dont need it if you have the poison bow
why
Poison bow fire sword thunder mace optional blood weapon maybe spear
i just like iolite all
Higher upgrade more spirit damage
Well no it doesn't do Spirit without upgrades i forgot. It does 147 slash damage without upgrades.
The bows
Im pretty sure. Yea my bow does 5
The regular bow does 10
Which can stack with silver arrows im pretty sure
so does gem upgraded versions tho
but u get lightning dmg + chance for chain lightning which is OP af
Bow and arrow damage are added together so it will stack
no way u can turn down that...
I thought so
Even with the spirit damage that lightning will be better unless your luck is as terrible as mine
Well i agree but its not that much worse because the raw slash is better
You get some compensation but the upgrades are just better
And at that point just use the bloodstone version
Use the shield staff which eats 40% hp so if you have lets say 200 (yes i use it all the time)
Hp you will eat 80 hp = 16 damage > 157 damage. At which point dyrnwyn is better
I use the mace for knockback and stagger + the crowd control i found it works best on the mace
also who cares about pierce m8 mobs have resistance
wait im confused, why are we talking about shield staff now
and why are we talking about dyrnwyn
Because it eats hp and grants you protection idk i was just thinking out loud trying to justify it
and why are we talking about weapon type selection
There's no point using silver arrows against charred since they're neutral to frost. And frost arrows do 52 frost damage vs 20 spirit for silver arrows.
Frost arrow 13p (resist) charred are resistant 13p + 52F 65 for frost arrows
Silver arrows 26p (resist) + 30S = 56
So yes its worse but still viable and better than many options
Does more than a charred arrow
well yeah but who uses those?
Me?
Not in the Ashlands but in general me they're easy and effective outside
another day is one to remember drakes exist
8 ashwood for 20 arrows is not worth 10 points more (pierce) damage over carapace imo.
though i suppose if you don't build a lot it doesn't matter
It absolutely is lets not pretend carapace is easier to get
just get more ashwood
move aside bronze grind
I'd rather smack a tree 4 times and get arrows than have to go to a mistlands and kill seekers
legitimately just more damage overall.
make way for refined eitr grind
lol? Seekers respawn in infested mines, so all you have to do is place a portal there and go by every once in a while to farm carapace, seeker meat, blood clots and royal jelly.
And it's easier to get
my friends and I haven't played since like january 2023, is the world that we used then going to be compatible with the current game?
the save loads, but i'm just curious if we'll need to start a new world to generate any content that's come since then
New content generates in unexplored areas
Worse foods and worse arrows or i can just smack a tree in the Ashlands
the game gens new content in unexplored zones
ok cool, so we just need to explore that'll do it, thanks!
I do that too, i just use the wood for building instead of arrows
rare sight of people actually using metal arrows
The arrows are just better and seeker meat is outdated
seeker aspic is still better than berry juice or shroomshake if you want to go double- or triple-eitr.
On new characters i use iron
interesting the game gives you metal arrows for free in chests up until plains
Who tf uses pure magic😭
probably silver arrows at some point because theres no building with silver 😦
me in the ashlands
I use some magic but i find the weapons as an option leaves me flexible
in the mistlands i do 2 eitr 1 stamina, in the ashlands i just take it slow and unleash a fucking storm of magic on my enemies
ohh are we talking about builds?? you go big or you go home, warrior, mage, rogue.
Well i use the dead raiser its shockingly underrated
i hate hybrid builds they make me feel like stale potatoes.
with triple eitr you don't need to melee
then dont use magic period. choose your path.
No im a spellsword
i like hitting creatures 75% of the time but 25% of the time i dedicate to a sneak/archer or mage.
only "melee" weapon i carry is jotun bane, unless you count dundr
When i'm out of mana the last thing i want to do is get up and close to an enemy
I use the Ashlands feast shroomshake and the pie
Anyone else thought jotun bane was a mace?
Just you
It looks like a mace until you read the desc
i just thought the poison damage meant it was viable as a weapon.
I was wrong.
Not to me it dont thats an axe if ive ever seen it
axes aren't a super ideal weapon type
Mistlands weapon's are balanced so weird
not even the 2 handed variants
The duel axes are actually super good
1h axes would be ok in combat if their secondary wasn’t awful
(1.5x damage and knockback)

iron battleaxe? never used it
Me either
They’re both good
i think i used crystal way back then
Crystal was still inferior to the silver sword and Forester
still if you want to cut down forests, look no further
crystal battleaxe isn't terrible. It's not as good as the atgeir but the high stagger on the secondary and aoe-primary make it usable enough.
It’s very good for hitting multiple enemies at once and with the 1.5x stagger on the primary you can consistently stagger many types of enemies in one hit
...is it shameful that I've never thought of this before?
yeah but 2h battleaxe
that huge movement penalty
I once used the iron battleaxe to clear a large chunk of a black forest biome
Lightfoot mead
Rat + full fenris = s p e e d
Today I learned that eating a bukeperry followed by immediately sleeping has your character fall to sleep projectile vomiting over themselves
I just found eggs on my game. Everywhere I read about valheim chickens online says to block off the fire you're incubating with so the chickens don't burn themselves. Could I just use a hanging brazier to heat them?
if it can be close enough, the best is probably to have a fire surrounded by walls and the eggs against the wall..
Yes, you can
Do they need to be closer than I would need to be for the fire buff?
It seems like it but i don't know..
Alrighty. Next time I play I'll get the eggs out of my livingroom and build a coop so they don't hatch in my house haha
Do hearths work?
i forgot if they can walk up inside it
i just built a normall fire and just put a few posts around it
The standing brazier work fine too. And since it's above ground, you can build it next to a wall - even iron grate works - and don't have to worry about ending up with Valheim Fried Chicken the moment the eggs hatch.
Yeah Crystal battleaxe fares surprisingly well against Charred thanks to the extra spirit damage. Some testing here against 2 warriors. #memes-and-clips message
Just hoping there were new higher tier battleaxe. And some tweaks to movement speed penalty.
Probably a dumb question, but do monsters have any sort of armor bonus?
They have resistances which are labeled on the wiki
conversely though, some carry shields which they don't use and don't provide a bonus.
How does it compare against silver sword though?
he's learned to be gentle with his hubbie due to the size difference probably
👍
oops mb
Does "sprinting" while floating with the feather cape make the same amount of noise as when running?
probably, yes.
I'm tired of having to explore a great sea, arrive on a continent and die for some stupid reason without having a portal to that place
are you dying before you can jump ashore with your portal materials?
💀
look in more places idk
BLACKFOREST
Boom max comfort level
are draugr villages hard to find?
Not really they just dont spawn close to the spawn point (center of map)
Just as "hard" to find as another randomly spawned location.
Time ≠ difficulty
Time is relative, coincidentally so is difficulty 😄
Silver sword:
- higher spirit, less physical damage (93 slash, 45 spirit)
- 1h so able to use with shield
- primary hits use 12 stamina
- higher attack speed, smaller hitbox
- less movement speed penalty (-5% plus -5% if using with shield)
- less stagger (1x) and knockback
- slow and more damage dealing secondary attack (3x)
- no MTP for primary attacks
- costs 160 silver plus 23 iron to craft and fully upgrade
Crystal battleaxe:
- higher physical, less spirit damage (108 slash, 30 spirit)
- 2h so not able to use with shield
- primary hits use 18 stamina
- slower attacks, wider hitbox
- noticeably high movement speed penalty (-20%)
- higher stagger (1,5x) and knockback
- quick secondary attack with even higher stagger (4x) and knockback but less damage (0,5x)
- no MTP for primary attacks
- costs 120 silver to craft and fully upgrade
Edit: added stamina usage and crafting and upgrade costs in metals
Really it just depends on what skill set is higher
Swords, go sword
Axes, go crystal 🤩
Just got my hands on a Primal Slayer, feels phenomenal.
dig deep
but not all forests will have copper
lock down the area with some stake walls n campfires
?
mining out the entire boulder is gonna take some time
Yes. But why "lock down"?
Were about to start renovations on the charred fortress we captured. Is there a good way to remove the center tower? The ram did a number on it and now it's just floating there
mining makes the most noise out of all activities
Yes. But why "lock down"?
greydwarves love noise
Still not seeing an issue here...
ah the bronze grind
Build platform on floating wall and use battering ram on the wall, layer by layer. New platform higher when lower is demolished.
Another option would be using catapult with explosive payloads but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and it can hit outer walls too if aimed incorrectly.
on the other hand don't set up spawn blockers while mining copper
good way to train up your melee skills due to the sheer amount of 'dwarves that come runnin
(don't mine at night, it's even worse)
Free wood, free greydwarf eyes, free xp?
my current world has much more raids
even after making it to the mountains
i still have lots of eyes leftover
greydwarves annoying
Heys guys I just bought the game
Hello everyone, s there any french discord ?
anyone wanna play with me? (I have no clue how to play)
Oh mb
Or just... play. And learn as you go?
Welcome in!
Like how all games were done for decades before this "I MUST KNOW ALL STRATS BEFORE EVEN INSTALLING THE GAME" wave happened.... 😦
Mb I thought it would be more fun with friends
I'm going to assume none of your current friends also own the game?
Yup it’s just me
I have it installed tho
I will tell you that while #1024264966712340510 exists, most people don't invite randoms to their servers.
So if you want the MP experience your highest probability of achieving it lies with your current friends also getting the game.
Which is arguably easier to accomplish if you have played it a bit yourself and can be the advertisement for them to buy it as well. 🙂
They only play battle royal and fps games
You need better friends 😭
I came here in hopes of finding new ones 😭
Friendship takes time, it is not something attainable on day one of joining a new space 💛
Yeah but I gotta start somewhere
There are surely people out there in your situation so you could make your own post to the channel Sev linked and try get samelike people to play with you, or search them yourself.
But, the game is also fun solo. 👍
Ok thanks
Have fun
I just started a world rn
I think I’ll have a lot of fun building
Good luck
Remember you get to experience the game the first time only once so take everything from that you can get!
Alrighty
Listen to the bird when he tells you how things work and you will be fine 👍
Always listen to the good birb.
Oh yeah it randomly shows up and leaves
@exotic bramble the biggest tip I can give you (that people who have been playing for years keep forgetting...) is that FOOD is the most important stat in the game.
Food > Gear.
Having amazing gear with shit food will kill you more often than anything because you believe your gear is what carries you.
It helps, but FOOD is what matters.
Ok 👍
Oh ok
I killed something and it dropped a tail
When you kill the first boss shoot me a dm and I'll go more in-depth about food if you want.
Alrighty 👍
I’m going to set up base near the ruins
The stone boss ruins thingy
Don't get too attached to it.
You're have the absolute worst building materials for a good while, so you will do a complete rebuild and possibly choose an entirely different biome as you progress.
Oh alright 👍
(opinion) spending dozens of hours making a wood-only base look pretty is a colossal waste of time given the materials you get just 2 biomes later.
set base in ashland
Oh I see
what could go wrong?
Wood is bad?
Try to be non-spoilery for the brand new person.
I did not say that.
Nothing limits you building more than one base/outpost in your world tho. 🙂
So it’s good but weak?
You'll figure it out.
Alr 😭
Wood is the basic but there are some limitations when building higher buildings which need stronger materials.
Point is, dont be afraid to make little settlements here and there. At some point you might come across a new place and say "this is nice" and build there.
It is simply one thing. Out of...
W
CW
S
IW
DW
BM
G
7 total materials.
No, I am not elaborating on what the other 6 are, you'll find them 😄
Careful, you scare him with your letter combinations 😅
jk
I gotta find these materials
Oh alr
wym? idc he's a bb. jsyk, ily.
Oooh ok 👍
also make a flint knife
I got a club
You'll figure them out as you progress the game, don't think too much forward and focus on the current progress 👍
oh you really just started
Oh alright
well, flint is easy to get from the get go
Okay I’ll look for it
Yes, brand new player as Sev mentioned #valheim-chat message
Club good.
Knives are... a choice.
Stick with club until more familiar with combat then try out different weapons to see what you like most (there is no wrong answer, whichever you like the feel of the most is the "best" weapon)
I just found the flint knife really good at the beginning.
Oh ok 👍
I want a really big sword
You get them, but much later.
Oh alright
They share the same skill tree as one-hand swords though. So you don't lose exp progress if you start swording early.
Ooh I see
yes
you'll realize it's easier to sneak-stab deer than using a bow
Spear.
that too
although you don't want to miss, a spear hitting the ground makes a LOT of noise
for some reason
Spear is really good at the beginning and much more accurate to throw than shooting with the first bow.
I almost never throw my spear 😄
I chug it all the time
And I've learned to be quite accurate with it so I rarely miss to lose my spear 👌
I actually went without bows, using spear throws in my hard preset world until I got access to the Arbalest.
Haiiii
Really the weapon choice you make should be made early so you can build up a viable skill level in that weapon tree
Nah sorry i love my bows
Agreed but I've got almost all skills maxed
I like spears, swords and axes purely cause I like using shields and I am lazy, so axes and spears being fairly cheap to make and upgrade appeals to me 😂
needle arrows my beloved
Nice - new player considerations though 👆
you get so many needles without needing to look for em
the source comes right to you without your input!
So my new characters always pick a weapon and specialise
My main character is about average in all weapons
So for new players I'd say level up bows for sure then either swords or axes i know axes are kinda shat on but they're duel purpose
Axes as a secondary are solid
Spears are kinda eh and atgeirs fall off
Axes are honestly so good - and once you get great axes you can really shred most mobs
Well and in the Ashlands axes are actually really good and axes do slash which not many enemies resist
everything got their niche
atgeirs def dont fall off, himmini is the most OP melee weap in ashlands
Eh fair point
a level 2 blackmetal atgeir will reliably chainstun a lox with a special
Spears are still a solid choice - they just take some practice to use properly
My favourite tactic is throw spear as enemy gets too close which staggers them, sprint up to them and stab them to death while they are still stunned 🤣
and is a generally "Get off me!" tool for fulings who surround you
and id say atgeir is the best melee weap in the game
something a sword/mace cannot
at's are stamina and resource hungry though
I really just love how all weapon choices are viable in this game
Well no because it does pierce
All the Ashlands enemies resist it basically
All physical damage types
It'll do 100 damage to charred which for a 2 hand isnt worth
Still love stabbing them to death with a big stick 😂
too bad they're remarkably quick for how fat they are
minus the soldiers who can literally slap you around like a pinball
That is accurate
himmini has lightning dmg. lightning is the only non-phys dmg type that applies stagger dmg
yea but atgeir 2nd attack is guarranteed stagger for almost every mob
you can stunlock morgens with it on very hard
Noted
also L4 himminafl does 58 lightning vs 10 for iolite weapons (+ chance for chain lightning which is 25% for 75 extra damage iirc).
Level 4 himminafl secondary has up to 858 stagger
jumping into a group of enemies with a well timed atgeir S2 to stun them all as they land, very badass
The math on that is 28.75 per hit fyi which is significant when you realize in the Ashlands himmi does pierce and only does 100 damage
also add lightning onto that
I am coming to realise that i am completely and utterly horrendous at building
Me and you both
I’m not adding anything. That’s the total stagger when doing a secondary attack
wood cubes
ya, super OP
then later, stone floors then more wood
lightning dmg type adds to stagger
slight self glaze, i am great at interior decorating....i seem to be a housewife at heart, cooking and all that shit.
but i don't have an ounce of architecture in my head..
Good at everything but making a base look nice
i grind all the gear, get the food, upgrade said gear n buildings
cannot gurantee it'll look pretty though
Himminafl[4] is 85 pierce + 58 lightning
85 + 58 = 143
143 * 6 = 858
Yes but half pierce against charred
Up to 603 stagger vs charred is still good
i guess for now i could just make a box with the 45 degree roof....like i am just...without any hope at making this look interesting 😮💨 i just need to get this building done
Yea but i get that in 4 mistwalker hits and they're faster
if you need 4 hits to stagger your enemy has already hit back
Not to stagger
Mistwalker level 4 only has 75 stagger
You’d need a lot more than 4 hits
To do 600 damage which they're already dead lmao like a charred doesnt have 600 hp
stagger is the entire point of using an atgeir
Charred warriors do
if you can land it
- the presence of other enemies raising your stagger threshold as well
can be subverted with proper food, practice
and maybe a lot of time digging a nice hole in the ground and luring a golem inside, then proceeding to block and block and block
A golem? You’d want something that attacks faster
has anyone determined if drakkar is faster than the longship?
hmmm
Longship
Raft.
def swimming
lmao
Tarred Frosty sounds like a PopTart flavor 😁
Frosty poptarreds
dude its so funny how much u can get away with in this game, stuff like chair entering crypts, clearing mines with ooze bomb, bow and stagbreaker, killing bosses with variations of campfire
speedrunner's paradise
Don't want to lug a stack of silver down the mountain in a cart?
make a boat atop said mountain and bobsled down
FINALLY ive found the bog witch
LOL
the irony is shes on the smouldering tomb island that I discovered at like day 40? Its day 120 now lol
And this swamp has bonemass and is stacked with crypts and surtling too
i do love sulfur raids
🎶 We been spending most our lives, livin in a Runner's Paradise. 🎶
🎶 We don't play, we optimize. Livin in a Runner's Paradise. 🎶
free coal n cores to your front door
I do miss out on some of the free stuff from raids, but I am generally happier since I turned them off.
I find with default settings raids aren’t really that much of a bother, I’ve gotten less than 5 raids in the span of 120 days
some more painful than useful
Although I haven’t dealt with plains raids yet
Not a bother to me, but my poor Boars 😭
aw man I’m struggling with wolf pelts I’ve realised I could just tame the wolves
be in plains and hope for wolves
then find a village
My first every playthrough I got absolutely trashed by a wolf raid in plains lol
"You are being Hunted"
Not when I have Blackmetal Atgeir. 😛
yeah also atgeir
wolves have terrain advantage in mountains
not so much in a flat open space where anything else is also hostile to em
due to the game instantly spawning mobs to keep up with the raid limit, the more you kill quickly means more rewards
I had this once….
While I was in a boat 😂
Silly doggo’s trying to get to me as I blissfully sail on by
FireBall goes boom
Or the big axe

i have a little plains plateau surrounded completely by swamp with bog witch a stone throw away so im clearing it out and some nice trolls decide to come for a raid and help me clear out the rocks
Do wiki editors have a channel/space to communicate with developers?
Thanks. I'm starting to wonder if the flower name people are wiki people lol, since I ask wiki question, receive flower name response
The flower only means we were here in spring of this year 😄
So usually people who have it are here for ať least that long or longer
Ah, so I've mistaken 'enthusiast of editing articles' with 'enthusiast of game in general that knows stuff about it' 😛
More or less 😁 but if you want to know who edits the Wiki and Is in the Wiki channel then look for role "Chronicler" 🙂
Thank you, I appreciate that
Oh, actually I was going to ask - Are there any wiki pages that are considered good examples of style? The style guide is helpful, but even better for me are examples that everyone likes best.
I severely underestimated the size of this island and I am ill equipped for such a long journey
holy fuck this is probably the biggest island on my world, it has every biome so far other than meadows
I forgot to bring portal mats and extra food, I have like 4 mins to get to portal home before food runs out and have to go through plains and swamp
Can't really say myself, i mostly do minor fixes and not page formating 😅
how can i unlock the ashlands gourmet bowl ?
defeat Fader.
hey do i have to defeat him again?
No. After killing him, the bog witch should sell a new ingredient
You also need cooked asksvin tails, vineberries and scorching medleys.
i have all the ingredients, but for me its the only recipe that wohnt unlock
you have the fire spice powder?
yes
#valheim-help/#screenshots
Could you show us?
Are you looking in the food preparation table, not the cauldron?
Have you cooked the asksvin?
ah thank you i have it now 😉
What was it?
Cooked asksvin xD
not surprised. Nobody thinks to cook asksvin tails.
Yeh, the pedantry around particularly cooking materials is a bit much. You'd think having the raw ingredient would unlock the recipe, then just require it to be cooked before it can be a reagent.
I need some advice please. Im trying to stick with certain weapon types on my playthrough for sort of consistency. Im in the black forest and im wondering if 2 hand hammers are worth using pretty much everywhere. I know you should probably change weapons for every biome but i like the kind of roleplay aspect of it. If hammers are not the best all arounder could someone tell me what is please
You definitely don't have to change every biome.
Plains may get a bit rough because there is no 2-H hammer from Mountain or Plains, meaning you're using a Swamp weapon (3 biomes behind).
But then you get the Demolisher in the Mistlands and life is great again.
iirc 2-H hammers share the same skill tree as "clubs", so you can switch to 1-H maces for a couple biomes if you wish and then switch back.
thats a good idea. i like the whole idea of huge weapon big hits kinda thing
Valid.
itll basically be 2-H hammer and bow
Fun and valid.
If you just want biome-specific "clubs" your path would be:
Wooden Club (1-h)
Stag Breaker
Iron Sledge
Frostner (1-h)
Porcupine (1-h)
Demolisher
Then you can either just keep Demolisher or swap to one of the elemental Flametal maces in Ashlands (1-h).
is the demolisher good in ashlands?
Very.
Im dying while searching a good place for a portal base 💀
Things like to swarm you.
It creates a lot of space.
twohanded hammers are very good throughout the game
okay cool thanks a lot man
👍 Enjoy smashing.
one huge ability is that you can hit enemies through walls with em
I prefer swords, but we need some maces in swamps
Don't look for a good place, just dump down a workbench and portal, then run away from it. Find a rock or something to jump on to deal with enemies.
Also, good to have materials for 2 workbenches and portals with you, if you can. When I'm sailing, I look for large rocks to build on (in BF and plains) or huts with stilts (swamp) and I'll jump ashore there.
I agree with @foggy glacier. Just find a quiet corner for your portal. Then use the access to find an area worth investing time and effort into.
holy fuck. fighting 1 star seeker + 2x normal seeker on like a 6x6 rocky surface with water around on vh with iron helm/root/fenris legs
that mightve been the most difficult shit ive ever done in this game
are you in mistlands at night?
Mistlands make the game harder in like 4-5 different ways.
4 deaths total and 1 body recovery
nah i was outside of a mines enrance
yeah thats the only other reason youll find a 1* seeker
but at least you found a mine
yea i swear the #1 enemy of mistlands is the terrain. rocky cliffs and small islands surrounded by water
1-star seekers can spawn randomly at day. It’s only 2-stars that have to be at night
ya this island im on now has 4x mines on it so far lol and its not even that big. cracked
Also, the seeker big attack has absurd reach. Dodge is your friend with seekers.
yea its weird, like when it's reaching its sliding to you
idk the word for it but it looks like it's not gonna reach you since it's starting the attack far from you but then it just glides to you
deceptive
One of their attacks has 100% movespeed
Another has 50, and the rest are all 0 though
Also their attack hitboxes are very short so jumping is effective
(Their highest attack reaches 2m above the ground)
Do all 2-H hammers have the same moveset as the stagbreaker?
Yes
Okay I’m guessing the ideal way if maining a hammer would be parry hit parry hit kind of thing
you can jump back and as you land, you load up a strike
Load up a strike?
That will work against weaker enemies, but starred enemies in later biomes may be too strong to parry
Or just windup your hits as they approach. Enemies will never get close to you.
just meaning you hit as you land
Jump attacking will be very helpful because of the long attack animation
kiting like that works great
Ohhhh okay I see. So kind of like hit and run kind of thing
ya
Oh okay I understand now
stagbreaker is goated to deal with blobs in swamp if you're not using poison pot
It's also really nice for the leeches, with the downward strike.
I've spoken with the leeches and they are unanimous about how Stagbreaker is objectively NOT nice.
Stagbreaker?
More like Leechbreaker 😏
do yall have any reccomendations for ways to make solo playing a bit "better"/"easier"? i find its a bit too big of a game and doesnt entirely seemed balanced for solo. maybe im just bad? haha are there any mods or anything
The game is entirely balanced around solo play
It is designed and balanced for 100% solo.
What particular aspects are giving you trouble?
You could take a look at world modifiers if you haven’t already
mosty fighting when ive got multiple enemies that take several hits.
in the past i made it to the dragon boss. but my pc was so bad, so I had a hard time as the game strained my FPS
now im going to elder. but stuff in the black forest kinda smacks me if i get too many enemies agrod. and sometimes i cant help that
stuff like the forest is moving too
Drop the difficulty slider down one peg and see how it feels.
do i do that in main menu?
Also food is the most important stat in the game.
Most people (not saying you, specifically) that have troubles with combat, when we dig into it, they tend to be running absolute shit food and then wondering why things are difficult.
Yes. Select your world then click "World Modifiers."
On the world selection screen 🙂
yea i dont have great stuff. but i dont have awful stuff either.
Have you upgraded your shield and weapons? You can get them to level 3 before defeating any boss
usually cooked meat and honey.
have bronze stuff. troll armor for now. prolly will use bronze for boss
You dont have a cauldron?
That is not good food...
Make a cauldron and start farming carrots
it is for what ive been doing. its just mostly meadows or running back and for from the outskirts of the black forest.
when i really need it ive got a stock of carrot stuff. but i dont need it much eyt
oh portal items are nice. thats one of my bigger things. having to hoof metal for a billion miles
That can be changed with world modifiers
thats what im refering to. i hadnt seen that stuff before.
Once you have Carrots you should not eat something that wasn't prepped in the Cauldron for a good long while.
why would i waste my good stuff if im just chilling in meadows
How is infinitely re-growable material a "waste"?
you underestimate my deaths hah. but now maybe wont be
Deer Stew, Minced Meat Sauce, Carrot Soup
Does anyone know how to request a translation correction? The game in Brazilian Portuguese has some errors, such as words with missing letters and items translated with made-up names instead of the real ones.
Go here https://www.valheimgame.com/support/ and you have translation errors tab there 🙂
Thanks
Some items don't have real names though, they're exclusive to Valheim.
What? Himminmminimmminimm Afl isn't a real thing?
Just got my hands on the primal slayer, nothing feels better than seeing those roots coil around my enemy.
😂
Personally would never put Green on a melee weapon, but if you're enjoying it that is what matters.
Just seemed like the best choice for me tbh. I'm often one of our melee fighters so the less things I have to dodge or worry about for a moment the better.
Plus, the green blade looks sick.
Green is my favorite color
I have a feeling that green beserkir axe could go a long way
In a vacuum? Sure.
Compared to the Ling Berserkers? Not even close.
the only problem is that I feel like being paralyzed is kind of a suggestion for certain monsters
whats the best 3 foods for black forest
Pretty much any combination of the cauldron foods- carrot soup, minced meat sauce, queens jam, etc. not really a “best” option I think
Think a few players avoid boar jerky though
There are small differences but if it’s all from the right tier and not SSS or HHH it really doesn’t matter
Pinned in this channel you will find the food sheet I wrote.
What you want is on the Configurations tab.
oh okay thanks
I would go with minced meat sauce, carrot soup, and deer stew
two hp foods, and one stamina
I’ve just had a look at it and there’s no serpent stew?
Did you see the giant, bolded note about Serpent Stew? 😄
I’m viewing on mobile and I’d assume I didn’t
I do see it now tucked away in the corner
I don't think a single sheet I have made in the history of my gaming has ever been for mobile. So whatever mobile does to normal sheets is beyond my control.
Yeah mobile sucks for spreadsheets lol
Howdy
🤠
yo got my first flour and it said i unlocked uncooked lox pie or something but im not seeing it in the menu. got a lvl 4 cauldron and an oven near it (if it even matters)
Anything that goes in the Oven starts on the Prep Table.
Food prep station
oh that makes more sense
Yep
just weird that everywhere i looked on google it said cauldron, turns out its outdated i guess
It is a fairly new change
Im hoping the wiki is started on updating outdated info after 1.0
Id be glad to help
Well over a month since patch isn't "fairly new" imo 🤷♂️
That’s subjective, it’s the latest update
I thought the wiki was getting updated pretty often since bog witch PTB
Who knows
See, this is a google problem.
I type "unbaked lox pie" into Bing and "Produced in Food Preparation Table" is literally the top result 😄
On valheim Wiki?
Yup.
I only just found out today that fishing bait doesn’t require previous biome fish to make, after seeing every video about it mention needing previous fish and a trophy lol
So I’m glad they decided to make it a little more convenient since the last time people fished in the game
For the most part I like to know what I’m getting into before trying, it’s how I’ve approached most games I’ve considered buying and purchased
I'm old... I remember when that wasn't possible to do.
Your only preview of any game was reading the box.
What are you like 40?
Back when boxes had game manuals in them... I miss reading those... 😦
Thing with videos and articles is that they can very easily be outdated between versions, only reliable sources of info (outside the game itself) will be stuff that is updated consistently
So, the wiki, and asking here
Translation: Scarlet is the only reliable source of info 😛
I try my best~
-# Except when her real life prevents her from swiftly updating things 😛
It is.
You're more than welcome to come help us. There are over 1000 pages on the Wiki now and less than a dozen of us regularly editing it
First thing I’m adding is a page for the straw hat if that hasn’t been done yet I know two days ago it wasn’t made yet
Is there a place somewhere that shows what is yet to be added or needs redoing?
I'd also read https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Valheim_Wiki:Manual_of_Style to see how we format content, too
Thank you, I should have some free time tomorrow to take a look at this and get started on a draft
Will save for future use
Shouldn't take long, it's a very simple item. Just copy one of Hildir's other items for reference. There's even a link to the hat from her page.
Okay while copying over from Fishing Hat ive noticed an error, fishing hat set effects are listed as resistances on the page
hi derek
now that im looking at it it would make more sense for the straw hat to be part of a Farming Set page rather than a standalone page
Rah
ahh i can git gud with combat but i cannot git gud with building something that doesn't look ass.....but i guess its not the priority right now, must procrastinate more.
hi
the thing about building is its trial and error and experimentation and is very subjective while combat is about timing and positioning, just keep experimenting with different styles of building, you can break it down to trying to create just the front of a house and how a wall with windows would look, a bedroom design etc
A good build is made over time so start with a base and add and rework it as you go along
Isnt the valheim combat supposed to be easy? Its just scaled crazy high to give the illusion of difficulty
gonna make something grand......a building....it will be square, and the roof will be a 45 degree triangle 🤩
Scaled high?
Damage wise
it will have a door, maybe even two....there will be lights inside of it, and maybe it will be warm.
kinda, but theres other factors like the character being slow and environment effects and amount of mobs + different types of mobs
i'm thinking the building might have a couple floors, a ceiling even.
so ends up being difficult
hi sev
The mobs are only ever an issue in large groups
Damage scales with how much damage reduction you get and how high your HP also scales as you progress.
That's why people who neglect food (for hitherto unknown reasons) feel the game is hard.
notice me senpai
and also some mobs have weird attack timings, like wolf attacking you the moment it makes contact, or charred warriors feinting
Best way to improve at building in my opinion is to start with small buildings and work your way up, like try making a building the size of bog witch hut and making it look homely and cozy
Yea tbh the Ashlands isnt hard its tedious
Once you learn to jump properly all combat becomes easy
like if you just arrived in mountain and encounter 2x wolves and the terrain is not flat. that combat encounter can be quite difficult
You need a portal every 100 feet just about
I jump over draugr arrows when charging them
why
Yea but wolves are insanely easy to sprint dodge
and now imagine you just climbed a mountain so you have no stamina
Or you can hit them first because they’ll likely get staggered
Because i don't like fighting 10 charred a morgen and 3 vultures
Ashlands introduces friendly fire to make groups like these more manageable
Because its impossible to effectively counter without magic
Without skill *
right i shouldn't have said anything about the combat, it is easy but the biggest issues are just simply when you run out of stamina or are cornered.
aight well thats another discussion xD (answer: staff of the wild), but then that means it not easy right?
With magic fairly
I never used magic in the ashlands or mistlands, i am only attempting it now.
Without its a lot of rolling around enemies
just like....pretty much fucking rip and tear until it is done 😍
Again tedious because i can't trade 10 enemies hit for hit so its just time
Against any attack that can be jumped over, jumping is better than rolling
that sounds weird
If you have a portal you can trade off 3-5 go into a portal heal go back smack them done
Or just don’t get hit
i ain't playing super mario over here
I typically just backwalk them works on most enemies
It's also a little bit of meta gaming I've always been against "if you do this slightly cheese mechanic its easier" jumping over attacks is goofy and not something i think was intended and if it is I'd love an explanation as to why
Because jumping over a great sword is goofy
If it’s not intended why is there a cape and mead to improve it?
And how is it cheese
Also to answer this no there's a difference between something not being difficult ie requiring skill ie playing music and something being scaled highly anyone here is welcomed to get more than 5 feet into the Ashlands with shit gear if it was entirely just a skill thing you could do it but its borderline impossible this is the difference between something being difficult compared to something being scaled to be harder hard doesn't mean difficult valheim can be hard not difficult
I figured for exploring
Using a cart to destroy a Dvergr crate or letting a boss die on a bonfire is cheese. Not dodging attacks.
Yea but the idea of jumping out of reach is nothing short of loonie toons funny
Like do you understand how high one needs to jump to accomplish that 😭
Jumping over attacks is a little funny, but it’s certainly not cheese- it’s just effective. Hitting enemies through walls with a maul, thats cheese lol
Why, that's also just effective
If you want to get into the technicality of things, rolling to dodge is just as ridiculous haha
Yea but i can pretend it'll work rolling 5 feet away against a monster makes more sense than jumping 10 feet straight up 😭
Im just saying its kinda funny
With the feather cape and potion it's like what 15 feet?
I have like a 90ish something jump skill so my base jump is already high
Ok yea my estimate was Right wiki says 3M or 10f at 100 skill feels like it
Oh and the capes jump got removed in the bog update
Anywhere between 1 (fuling shaman melee) to 5.3 (troll log horizontal swing) metres
Maybe higher, I don't know ashlands melee hitboxes
Yea but 😭 jumping 12 feet into the air with a lightfood mean is funny 😭
