Oh ye
it is offtopic fenris set tho
Is it pointless to make a wolf cape if I have maxed lox one
style points
just cosmetic reasons
yee it looks fine ngl
I prefer wolf cape with wolf armour and lox cape with padded or root armour for looks
Ohh, I just had my wolf one on, IT HAS A WOLF HEAD ON
neither are very expensive, it's not like investing into a battleaxe/warhammer. you can max them both out fully without a big hit to your resources
I only want to be huted again by wolfs now
ya hunted event is rly nice actually, once u can manage it ofc
thing is that raw armor becomes progressively less useful as you advance. Seekers will rip you to bits even in maxed padded armor if you don't block and carapace does very little to keep you alive when entering ashlands, so you may as well wear fenris and use the extra speed to just dodge instead. The permanent fire resist for the full set is also quite helpful.
it happens reasonably often because you do not need to be at home for it
i think on normal raw armor is fine. just from my experience
true especially Flametal + Ashen Cape, with it you can survive Warriors and Asks much better than with carapace armour or anything else
i mean stuff will still hurt i guess, but i think on normal diff, raw armor at least gives the player some room for error
Use the flesh rippers in unison with the armor set, and you can stun most enemies with the middle attack up until the ashelands. I'm using the fenris set with the askvin cape + an eitr hood and I love it
Just don't get hit though and ur good
Ohhh making it rn
Well yeah, you're fine once you have maxed armor & shield for the current biome. My point is that every time you enter a new biome you'll be very squishy as a heavy armor user while fenris users are at 100% defense all the time pretty much, a new biome just gives you a little extra stamina and better dps. It's also much less vulnerable to starred enemies (you're dodging anyway, so the only difference is more hp to chew through).
yessir and once you can get the protection staff it helps accommodate for the low defense stat
and even a fenris user can generally take a hit or two from non-starred enemies, so it's not like there's no room for error.
Ohhh great greatt
ya true
are charred mobs the most boring enemy type in the game?
just every combat engagement is the same and im bored
seekers were cool
what difficulty are you on
very hard atm
for me the charred enemies are kinda interesting at how they coordinate together lol especially the marksman
but i play mage so normal/hard/very hard is like the same tbh
whats ur elemental magic level
47
Yeah that also helps alot lol
Charred warriors can do something no other enemy can (feint attacks) and the marksmen volley is very unique too, with melee weapons they've one of the more interesting enemy groups to fight
50 elemental magic is were it starts to get fun
ya charred warriors are cool with their tricky melee, but the thing ismelee sucks in ashlands so i dont really get to have any cool sword fights anyways
I've been hardstuck sub 35 because of stupid deaths 🗿
I don't have any problems using melee in ashlands
what do you use for clearing out swarms?
Friendly fire is very effective. Sword primary and polearm secondary are also useful attacks for groups
its just too many projectiles, every fight is sooo annoying as melee
Demolisher also works. It's what i used on the PTB landing so it shouldn't have any issues now.
Only if you're not dodging well enough
ya.. just dodge 4head
prolly, and dont forget the twitchers. not only do they have projectiles, but they have greydwarf AI pathing on steroids
good thing that they die in like 2 fireballs at least
how is greydwarf pathing an advantage for twitchers? It's annoying, sure, but they'd be much more dangerous if they just kept attacking instead of randomly running in circles.
same for fulings really, most of the time i just cut them down before they even try to attack
For charred it’s probably so you don’t kill them as quickly, so they can throw more skulls before they die.
For fulings it would make more sense to only do it with other enemies nearby. It works for groups but not 1-2 lonely fulings.
because in group scenarios they run away and then come back to sneak hit you when you focus on other mobs
and it makes it more difficult to hit fireballs
Which is annoying but not an actual threat.
Charred twitchers are just trying to be annoying, not dangerous. That’s the warriors and archers job
annoying things in a combat scenario makes things more difficult which is a threat...
Imagine if they just circled you at a distance and kept lobbing rocks while backpedaling if you come closer
ahh ok what is this convo guys :d have you not played ashlands
No, they need to get closer eventually so melee weapons can be effective against them
That sounds like a problem the melee player needs to solve, not the enemy AI
I haven’t played ashlands in a normal playthrough but I’ve done a lot by using a commands character with appropriate equipment and skills during testing
mostly talking to zock
i played through once in PTB as a mage and another after release as melee
anyway so what do you guys think about ashlands relative to other biomes? how does it stack up or how you say
because i value it extremely low
i like the design and gem weapons (melee and staves), but after you've raided a few fortresses and crafted your stuff there's just nothing to do there except farm food ingredients. There's no point exploring since everything looks the same, the fights all feel the same too
i enjoyed the high mob density at first but the charred mobs just has worn me down
i like the stuff that there was.
ya i feel the same
Given, I've had a whole one foray into the Ashland
MIstlands on the other hand i explore just because you find really cool spots every now and then. The same for other biomes. Ashlands lacks that and it's a shame imo
I'm a fan of some of the things in the biome
mistlands is extremely beautiful but the rocky mountains everywhere is annoying
spacebar simulator
Once you get a feather cape i don't think it's an issue. Parkouring around the rock spires is actually kinda fun for me.
Combat is my favourite part of valheim (and valheim has my favourite combat) so I’m very happy to have a biome where the fighting never ends
it helps.. but certainly still an issue, you still have to climb up those mountains
even mountains is less severe on the climbing thing
Kinda wish we had invasions enabled for when we hit Ashlands. Kinda sad I wasn’t there when the server was made to persuade them
What?
green
They had raids turned off when they reached Ashlands.
Oki guys how about this, wolf skewer + eyescream + serpent stew
if you're using fenris then just go 2x stam 1x health imo
and try to never take hits?
ya
W
its a better way to play anyway, on harder difficulties u cant really ever afford to take hits
so better to get used to it
I could also be able to run
tactical escapes will be available
-# don't mind the spelling
ya
W
Armor doesn’t matter, do this always
Or now with feasts, a perfect balance is possible
I usually mix some armor during Mountain/Plains phase: Fenris legs, heavy helmet and either heavy, Fenris or Root chest (depending on situation).
i wear whatever is newly available in a biome and stick to progression even if it hurts 😎
I always use new armor too. The only armor I’d want to keep through biomes is fenris but the one time I tried making it I had awful luck and haven’t tried again since.
Although I will be trying in the playthrough I started recently for the bog witch
i love that a small update convinced all of us to play the entire fucking game over again 🥴
same
I try to start over with every update. If I haven’t played a game for a while, I prefer to start a new save.
full fenris in ashlands until i get mage set + vine staff
From sick looking hood fella to even sicker looking hood fella, amirite?
ya :D
I love using fenris, but it also hurts to just leave all those sick armors behind 😔 I’ll try doing a mix, but fenris doesn’t always looks good with other armor pieces
Jumping > Rolling
And food enables more jumping.
correct
imagine caring about pierce resistance when the sacrifice you make is looking like a hobo.
Imagine caring about armor resistance when you're either blocking or jumping, making your armor pointless 😉
Or just... Bonemass 😄
yeahh if like deathsquitos and seekers or whatever causes you so many problems just stick to farming 🫢
fascinating pfp
i see
speaking of which, is resistance applied before or after armor?
You are talking about a formula?
Just terms in general that can both apply to "Resistance"
DR happens before armor (what Valheim does)
RDT happens after.
I just know there will be those few times you will get hit, but if I have fenris?? I really shouldn’t worry no more, or just make some sick looks
Wait I just noticed something. I was browsing the wiki, and I see that Lord Reto is basically just a two star charred warrior?
Make sick looks.
Well... "just" a 2 star. He seems to have a lot of health for just that.
My point is, I cant find a two star warrior roaming around?
Fenris armor looks pretty sick already.. wonder if I can make anything cooler
nvm, we can...
Yeah very rare though, if I am right, I’ve never seen one through any playthrough
But if he act just like any charred warrior, he seems "easy"
Hell nah none of that is easy when they deal like 310 damage in one hit..
Full flametal gear that 2 star warrior does 100+ health with stagger lol not fun
yeah but I can kind of fight them relatively well without getting hit at all
He has the same move set but much higher stats than a charred warrior, but because of that he’s very easy
unless he does funny stuff like new powers or summoning monsters, I think its just a question of patience
does he walk faster?
You don’t even need to worry about other enemies while fighting him. It’s just a 1v1 against a blue charred warrior
dang
Same exact patterns as the normal charred
just tickle him with crossbows or something
Confined in a small cave
I used melee weapons the same way I do against a red charred warrior
how small we talking?
Roughly the size of a troll cave maybe? But a little more rounded? It’s been a while idk
And shorter i think
might be a problem when
We had 6 people fighting him and it was cramped in there to say the least lol
If you can kill charred warriors without taking a hit, you can kill Lord Reto
Just don’t even try to block or parry unless you have a bubble
yeah but its kind of inconsistent, the way I currently do it, but I do not use a "proper" weapon
I use the mistwalker
... which is not "proper" how?
Honestly thats better than other options
its too short
I bait an attack, sprint jump back, and sprint forwards while coming back down to hit with a secondary attack. Repeat this until the bones aren’t living anymore.
People suggested to use a polearm
Mistwalker and silver sword are both great options for charred warriors
Ashlands undead in general ^
Oh it works really well. Its just that sometime a one star charred warrior lands a hit on me because it decided to not do a feint or something and I do not like that
Try to dodge in a way that avoids both possible attacks
Well... yeah
try not taking damage
These days I mostly just default to crossbow. I just made a ripper too.
I wish they had more than sound to let us know if they were feinting or not
Also I just made a whole flametal armor. I dont have the cape yet.
You don’t need it, feather cape is better
Unless you want to get hit (why?)
I dunno, 16 defense sounds neat
Go for speed vs Reto he will pretty much one shot you regardless of armour
I mean I want to make everything. Ill choose after what I want to use.
what difficulty u playing ? @wintry valve
normal
ah ya flametal armor is ok then
Ive never been a fan of when games makes enemies hit harder to simulate difficulty
I come from an era where harder means more baddies. THAT was fun
But then again I had a rocket launcher
More diversity of ai movements is fun to but just scaling health and tankiness is not fun to play harder in agreed
just forces u to dodge stuff more, which is the difficulty
I think doing that makes some features gradually more obsolete.
i love being healthy and tanky
Like, one of my main issue in Elden Ring is how much armour doesnt matter, so much everything one shot you, by the end. Just don't get hit.
I think its more interesting to have different approaches to a posed problem in a video game. If the solution is "lol just roll" like I heard all too often, its not interesting.
i hear ya. armor should serve a purpose. maybe buff it and also make it more expensive
So, if I were to play this game on hard, I understand that the big awesome flametal armor is kind of useless
Also encourages to play differently rather than going for the exact same tactic you used 100 times before but are now complaining "bruh game too repetitive".
If enemies hit too hard now, then switch to a different playstyle focused on movement and dodging.
But complaining about issues is much easier than thinking on ways to solve them
man. I hate when I type the exact opposite of what I mean to say. French moment, I guess
I dont wanna be forced to switch playstyles ever lol
oh boy
Then... don't play the difficulty mode that makes you do that...
The only reason i would want to is to make things new for myself on purpose.
Im just lamenting that there are better ways to do difficulty.
"difficulty mode that makes you do that"?
You said that as if the game will automatically and unavoidably change the difficulty at a certain moment
me?
I don't quite follow, Terrarias calamity mod has revengeance mode then death mode then infernum mode, each of them a huge jump in difficulty, and each of them you can be a tanky melee user.
stat bloats for difficulty is a boring idea
Terraria is also very extremely different from valheim...
I think you should rephrase that
Like, literally the entire development of the game and the mod are different, and that's just mentioning the fact that terraria is 2D and makes pathfinding easier
it's not valheim, its valheeiiiiiim
Lol I see it. Fixed
i also found terrarias calamity mod to be exponentially more difficult than valheim in all aspects, and i still liked it, because it was creative bullet hells and wacky ai, not just big numbers.
I don't really know what we're talking about i inserted myself into something on-going, I only noticed something i got caught up on, That being something about being forced to change playstyles.
Because the game allows it to be done that way.
You are expecting too much from valheim if you think it can have too much complexity
There is no changing playstyles in terraria, You choose a class and you stick with it and if you are bad you get good with that playstyle and then it works.
You will be disappointed if you're expecting DS levels of combat and boss fights.
the charred warrior is already more interesting than like most enemies that are just fast and hit hard, but even when they get starred or say lord reto its just kinda silly.
Im actually enjoying most of the fights.
Because the devs designed it that way
Valheim devs designed it this way
🤷
Which is a step above DS and the like
Don't Starve has similar levels of combat and fights -- but it took me a moment to realize you were talking about a different game 😦 (oops wrong reply)
Yes, and that's the maximum amount of complexity we can have.
But seem like people are expecting bosses to go full elden ring demi gods
I dont like this mentality. Stuff can be changed, even the devs change stuff they made in this game semi regularly. It can be improved upon.
35 seeker meats worth of seekers in one mine
i don't remember how it used to work but wasn't health and blocking like overhauled awhile back.
I nearly broke my frostner
Dont starve is really hard game tbh
i dont find it interesting at all
I have been expecting a raids overhaul and it's one of the earliest features in the game.
Take a look at how they still are after almost four years and two major biomes.
People need to learn how to manage expectations
it was like my childhood game on steam, that and starbound.
Development cycle has focuses, Not everything can happen in a short amount of time, Its not like thats not going to happen, Other things clearly have been updated and thats all there is to that.
but you like valheim? which is like the same game but 3d?
Draugrs and skeletons are among the first enemies in the game, both have the exact same attack animation
valheim is nowhere the same game as dont starve?
I don't know how it works with 1.0 being the end all be all update but i felt like making it so all the content is there (biomes wise) and then polishing it is the way to go.
graphics wise, but game loops, exploration, mobs, bosses, etc. are quite similar
Wait wait wait, everyone hold up -
When you say DS, do you mean Don't Starve or Dark Souls?
Valheim already is like dark souls lmao, Whats anyone talking about, Theres dodge rolls and big boss fights.
(Both are very applicable here)
I'm aware.
But that just means they will never give any focus on certain features because of that.
Again, raids are among the earliest features. And they have never being touched beyond just adding more
I'm hoping they will overhaul events, but expecting they will not
Dont starve is much harder, much less begginer friendly and has nothing to do with valheim other than being survival game which doesnt even have the same system of food and etc
So each survival game by your logics is the same if its just a survival game
And yes i dislike dont starve completely
Heh, Just noticed the same acronym
I meant Dark souls, as in, the dark souls series
I would equal Valheim to Terraria + Minecraft child with different graphics
well it may have more bosses than minecraft but not nearly as many as terraria
DS series is solely focused on combat and being an action RPG.
Valheim only has combat as an important feature but not the focus as you have many other things to do such as building and farming
I build big box and am done with building I come here for exploration and combat
no, there are differences between survival games. Don't Starve has different food and graphics, yes -- but it has many more similarities than differences.
Other types of survival games are very much different, like Conan/ARK/Icarus are very much practically the same game which I would classify as a different sort of "survival" altogether (survival-lite or -esque)
I really try to not care about building but i can't help it....i want my shack to be cozy..
I don't know what this dialogue became the only point i wanted to make is the idea of forcing a playstyle is kinda ass
....but the game doesn't really do that anyways? so i don't know what brought this up
I still did tanky warrior in the ashlands and against fader, less so against reto but i still have bonemass
have you played don't starve though? that is what I'm arguing is much more similar to valheim, and I thought it curious that someone else views it so differently
i have 500 hours in dont starve and i see no similarities 😎
I am still unable to see how its simular to valheim in any way
I can see the fact that you have to eat food, fight, and explore being similar.
You'd be stupid not to.
You kinda really do though
you kinda do, wether you like it or not, try playing the game with no food.
fight fader with 50 stamina, go ahead.
lulz
You are not forced to as in Dont starve thats the point
Hypothetically you can pass the game without eating food
starving is quite a rare form of death in don't starve, believe it or not
you are forced to in valheim if you don't want to suck ass and ragequit 🤣
Your point is that it's a completely different game? Gotcha.
Yes
I would feel forced to eat food in valheim by like....the swamp atleast...
Nah I ain't that stupid (I tried to punch fader with bare fists for an hour, at least I had cooked meat)
(Side note, you don't even outpace his health regen)
Looking forward to Squirrel Nutkins' no-food run.
I would say that if an option is viable in like 5% of scenarios you're pretty much forced to, You can kill the moonlord in terraria with a fucking lawnmower and no weapons....but i don't even know how someone accomplished that.
No food run is completely doable and honestly wouldn't be that bad on normal
breh
Yea? try it....
I would die i think somewhere in the range of 6437 times.
Already kind of have
under 30 deaths?
did you also have a peg-leg and use a cloth whip to attack enemies
And what's "kind of"
is the exploration in valheim not for gathering resources as well?
That playthrough was at the plains with 0 deaths before I quit playing it so
if you weren't using the keyboard with your feet it doesn't count
Funny joke except I actually have rheumatoid arthritis and do play valheim with my feet + hands so 🙂
🫨
Ok so if you quit playing it....is it still "unnecessary" to eat food
I just don't know if thats a troll or way too convenient
No I'm not joking I actually have three pedals, one is for the blocking input, normal attack and special attack input.
that's pretty awesome actualy
Alright it doesn't count if you're not turned away from the screen and looking at it through a mirror with the sound muted and one eye blindfolded and using a trackball with your elbows
- locked at 30 fps
.... I.E me when i was playing on my main pc
Lock it at 31 fps just for funzies 😛
that was most of my experience with valheim, probably 800 hours of 1200 hours until i got a gaming laptop
18-28 fps on medium settings
and when a friend lent me an old dell laptop to play with him while at his house i got 3-7 fps 😍
Morgen are sooooo much fun! Best thing ever
Tbh my build tend to be quite blocky, this is no different, however my plan is to make a spire (black marble basement, grausten 2 floors wood 2 floors), and then expand downward and outwards from there since the build is right at the top of a mountain.
So the lower parts should absolutely never have a support problem, if the top is supported fine
hi siren
But the spire is the only thing I'm actually making at the moment, the rest of it will be for later if I feel like it
And I really don't wanna use console commands for it lol
Hello! How's your day been?
spires are cool. the only problem is stairs feel terrible to use, and ramps take up so much space
entropic, way too little daylight, winter kinda lame for that.
Yeah this is my first real "form over function" build
Moving here is going to be inefficient for actually the playing the game but the builds not made for that, I already have my meadows base which looks horrible as hell but let's ms play efficiently
By the way is there any particular reason we don't have 1m length roofing yet?
Clipping some of these designs is just so horrible and no way to get it both even and nice
Because the build menu is already super saturated with options and navigating it isn't that easy on consoles. So adding even more stuff to it would hurt that portion of the playerbase.
well thats too bad cuz theres going to be more building anyways 🫠
iirc mods exist already which expand building significantly
I'm a console player and don't mind that, at all
based
And if you definitively spoke on behalf of 100% of all console players that would be enough for the devs to add an assload more building pieces.
But you do not 🤷♂️
by that logic just remove building or something
more does = better in this regard.
if you don't want to go through the effort of scrolling to the options then just don't..?...
and those who want them can be left actually happy.
Why is it that every time we talk yo7 always seem so pissed off at me?
Any thing I personally don't like about the game the reasons are never good enough.
I think the game could benefit from a thing, there's always a reason why it's bad.
You know defending the game at every single turn isn't going to get one of the developers to date you, right?
🫢
There's allowed to be things that can be improved
this is not a proper argument for a sub-par UI
Well ok then...
it can seem like that with some people that just want 0 things to be changed sometimes by the way they talk 🥴
like someone arguing against auroras in the deep north yesterday
Why is it that every time we talk yo7 always seem so pissed off at me?
Any thing I personally don't like about the game the reasons are never good enough.
I think the game could benefit from a thing, there's always a reason why it's bad.
This, I would have replied to.
You know defending the game at every single turn isn't going to get one of the developers to date you, right?
This, is "Hi, I'm 12 and this is the only burn I know."
really makes you think doesn't it
Such passionate gamers
I am fine with the ui and fine with the building menu and fine with getting more build pieces and i want more build pieces, whoever somehow disagrees with everything i feel like should be given the option to not have to deal with those things i guess? but the games quality shouldn't be sacrificed to a minimalistic state.
there are lots of "opportunities" to improve the building UI
I couldn't actually muster up a single idea myself or the want for it so i'd have to be enlightened 😆
which would allow for better accessibility into a richer set of building options
Change all slots to bestagons instead of squares 😛
what the fuck is a bestagon
hexagon
Type "bestagon" into google and tell me the top result 🙂
you can lead a horse to water...
Is that the Obi-Ron version of ALLLLLLLLLLLLL-righty then?
Not 12, it's a genuine question.
Every time anyone has a single issue with the game that I see, you're always defending it to the death, and the one current feature (at the time) you didn't defend to the death was one developers were already confirmed changing.
And that leads to "They aren't going to date you!".... how exactly?
Because no game is perfect, it comes across very much as sycophantic towards the creators
Oh right... it doesn't lead there... by any thinkable conversation norm that any grown person would ever use.
Does anyone else day 1 just build long paths nowhere with the hoe?
Can't say I do
Paths, yes.
Paths to nowhere, no.
Missing out
Paths nowhere are so peak. I can just take a stroll
don't need to make a path for that
You do
Can do the same without a path tbf
Gotta find my way back
On a no map play that makes more sense
My "mindless timesink" activity is clearing out all the twig trees that make forests harder to sprint through.
I do that cause I'm too lazy to chop down trees
I just farm if I'm going for mindless
i do sunken crypts
How does that work? Plant... stand still for 3 days?
Plant everything, read manga/webtoons, harvest, repeat.
Yeah that's afk-ing, not doing a mindless activity in the game.
My "mindless timesink" ->activity<-
it's inherently implied
afk-ing is a passivity, not an activity 😉
Otherwise I would have just said my mindless timesink is "sleeping irl" 😄
Right, but I'm still at my controller. I don't walk away from it.
It's right there in my lap when it's time to harvest or respond to a raid 🤷♂️
you might be missing the point of what an "activity" is
not doing anything is not it
Likely, doesn't make what im doing less of a timesink though.
i mean reading manga is an activity. It's just not playing Valheim.
Read murim login gang
Especially since I am still doing things in game, just with space in the middle
also are we really having a multi-page argument over the exact definiton of being afk? 🤣
I mean... the topic is mindless timesinks... I think its appropriate
Nah, it's a multi page discussion over what constitutes as a "mindless timesink" iirc
This.
Are you new?
Hey guys, please welcome Jen to the scene, she’s new 👍
Here’s the chats, over here is the cafeteria, and over there is the boss fight televisions. Streaming player boss fights 24/7
(Not an official new person, just playing on what Derek said “are you new?”
Hello Jen!
hey, why wasn't I invited to the cafeteria?
Smell to much like crawfish
that's fair... dunno what I was expecting looking like this
Gotta spruce it up, lil hat or somethin
a sombrero would look quite spiffy
Dapper even if you add a poncho.
hi guys
my instances is at 38000
i found a group of groupers
i reaaaallly wish there was an anchor system because this trying to slow down is so ass
jump out of the boat
Leaving the boat brings it to an immediate stop. So yeah, just jump out.
it is like impossible to catch these fuckers without a stamina potion
Nah, just gotta raise the skill.
veeeeeery veeeeeery slowwwwlyyyy
it hasn't leveled up once this whole time
are herring still useless
They turn into Raw Fish like everything else?
trollfish is where its at rn, such a good mead
so for the effort its worth, generally useless.
Troll and Angler are the top 2 fish, yeah.
if the goal is raw fish perch and pike are 10x more viable.
yeah only worth for the hat
it took me longer to even find a herring than any other fish so far....i mean except tetra, no fucking idea.
thats the general consensus, they are hardest to find apart from tetra
i straight up skipped fish wraps like every prior playthrough but now it seems i should be levelling fishing...
angler is great stam food, also the trollfish, apart from those 2 its just: Do you want the hat or not? imho
then you gotta catch I think like 7 herring and 7 tetra and the others and get fish wraps as a bonus along the way
(i don't know its that exactly, i'm a completionist at heart)
holy fuck anti sting takes 3 groupers....bruh i was all happy that i got 5 to make a stack 😾
i know i'm never even gonna use this silly potion but man
I mean, kill 2 abominations and you have unlimited time repellent, root chest
I think its great for helping people in bronze recover their corpse etc
i tanked a deathsquito while wearing clothes for fishing purely because of a padded leggings, it would take 4ish hits for one to kill me.
and we all know how useful and simple to obtain that is
+20 swim and fishing is cool though
in terms of fishing that sounds big actually
And don’t forget how pretty it is
once i first picked up a fishing rod i noticed a big difference between level 0 and level 15
true, but having to go to both ends of the world is kinda painful
plus nothern salmon take so much stamina
I often buiild a rainproof meadows island base that requires swimming haha
Not that you can get it at that age
true
imma make a deep north base just to see what happens when it comes out.
…ever seen what happens to buildings during a sinkhole
But I’m running a 2 server community where you’re allowed to bring that across if ya want so that’s fun
oh cool u got any spots left?
Did that with Ashlands but actually still haven’t gone through that portal haha
you’ll probably fall straight into a bonemaw’s mouth lmao
Yes see #1024264966712340510 but it’s based in Australia haha
Yep
13 fish in a day, thats not horrible.
well that's interesting. the map button on my xbox controller stopped working. restarting game to see if that helps. the computer is certainly recognizing the button press
i think i saw someone with this bug before..
is the bog witch patch available already on pc xbox app?
It's been available for weeks.
any word on the mistlands update
They are working on Hearth and Home, then Mistlands.
hearth and home, sounds stupid, i want mistlands now, bad devs.
Fishing hatttttt!!!!!
How good can the crystal battleaxe be? Asking because I like two handed/dual wielding weapons and it's the only two handed battle axe. The dual wielding one is like endgame
The crystal battle axe is the best tree chopper if you can hit 2 or more things 🙂 that's about as good as it gets for the CBA
The heavy reduction on movement speed and slow attacks holds it back massively
To be fair I love the two handed hammers so...
Slowness doesn't really bother me all that much. Also I'm a light armor user so
it's pretty, it can parry pretty well
secondary staggers pretty quickly
it's not an endgame axe but it is quite good
did I mention it's pretty
I'm just wondering how long it can go for.
Until the berserkir's obviously.
or would I have to swap to black metal fast
considering jotun bane is kinda meh in mistlands honestly I don't see why you wouldn't still use it throughout, if you enjoy it
as long as you get used to the windup speed of the first attack it's not bad~
that said, the blackmetal atgeir and the himminafl are both excellent polearms
I definitely plan to swap to berserkir's tho cause dual wielding axes as a viking is awesome.
fair enough~
on the vs battles wiki where would valheim odin be placed?
So it's one of those weapons where at max upgrade even into endgame it could probably do okay.
Even if it's not the best.
is valheim prone to create memory management issues?
Not that I know of
What's the best food combo for light armor users? Mostly hp or mostly stamina? Or a mix of both?
-# funnily enough upgrades don't even increase its poison damage, only slash, it really is just the mistlands' unfortunate joke weapon in every way
Bad joke.
the poison axe? yeah it's awful. even if I were doing an axe only run I'd skip it
I was talking about crystal battle axe
If the first attack on battle axes was like.. 0.2s faster I would love them.
I personally love them. Special attack, run up, swing
instant crit
i stand by that that's an interesting thing to set them apart from other weapons, coupled with how fast the two swings after that one are
also special attack can snuff out attacks so hard
You lost me at having to run after attacking. #ReasonsIHateFrostner
-# smh
Sounds like you don't play fighting games
-# HoldingYourHeadStill
That's a leap and bound...
-# sing mh harder
I like that it's different, but the initial swing is way too slow to be useful, especially when fighting multiple enemies, which is otherwise what the wide swing would be perfect for
-# Calls Scarlet and says "Plz help, Winter is damaging her neck from the shaking!"
So many fighting game strategies involve tech chasing or catching people after a knockback or what-not
I'm used to this
well enemies don't just teleport to you, there's usually a pretty long period of time in which they run up to you while you either wait for them or walk up to them, which is almost always long enough to start that combo up
they don't all approach simultaneously
but by swing 3 there's a good chance you're hitting more than one, and that's where most of your damage is
- you can kite them in circles to bunch them up
again, kinda defeats the purpose of the wide arc
i've had it come in handy quite a few times for how little i've used it, compared to other weapons
yeah you certainly can get lucky, but its too long of a windup to be reliable imo
Look I'm just wondering how late I could get away with using this thing lmao
As someone who used 2 handed hammers for the longest time, this is nothing
and i'm saying it's a decent pick if your playstyle works well with it.
we had someone here not long ago who swore by it in ashlands
How'd they hold up?
supposedly well, and i can see that working out
not a masochist, sorry
they were anticipating the enemy's approach to hit them with the juiciest swing and using the secondary for knockback to create distance.
with how slow ||charreds|| walk, that honestly sounds like a very manageable way to fight them
Been playing a single player world up to swamp now, taking it easy. I feel like telling here that I appreciate the balance of the game. ⚖️ I'm no coward when a raid come to me, but I'm rewarded for being cautious (meaning not dying).
is 450 weight maxed?
what is the best light armor? I know Fenris and like Ask are talked about a lot.
300 base
450 with belt
700 with belt + pot?
then there's fader's power and corpse run
-# This is where you add the numbers I missed so we have the full list 😛
-# i forgot them, i think one of them wasn't 150, but corpse run definitely is 150
Fader is +300
And 10%? movement speed
So max is 1k realistically but 1.150k is highest possible
Nice.
So, uh...
What IS the best? Lol
Ask if you're using stuff that swings fast.
Else, Fenris.
So basically since I'm using big axe, fenris
Yup.
It's weird to me that gear from the MOUNTAINS is unironically the best for so long but eh.
not against it.
Oh, the Frostner cultists find it BiS in the Ashlands 😛
Eh? What's BiS?
Lol
Fighter games don't have Best in Slot? 😏
Eh, some do. But I never heard someone call it BIS
mistwalker still better
What is the best way to train Axe EXP without risking getting myself stomped into the floor? Cause I'm at the mountain stage rn. I have max troll hide with a max root harnesk chestpiece so mountains aren't TOTALLY safe yet. (I'm waiting to get Fenris armor cause I like light armor.)
Bonemass.
Isn't he not weak to axes tho?
Build like 10 Stone Axes and go whack him.
I thought he's only weak to blunt
Weak is BAD when leveling. You want RESISTANT.
MORE HITS = Leveling.
Ooooh that's fair.
Question though. Don't you think I should use something a bit better than stone in case he starts wrecking my crap? Lol. (I'm not very good at the game.)
Well tbf I do have my crystal battle axe
No.
Just bring your highest mace for when you want the fight to end and kill him with that.
where is the most ideal location for base we are at iron age already still staying at starting location do we stay atstarting location or move?
So my level 3 iron one.
Yup.
Depends. Do you have taking items through portals on?
It's in the modifiers.
yea we can take items through portal
Like ores and stuff?
yes
Ok then, honestly you can just stay where you're at. You'll only need a small base in the ||plains|| for farming there and I THINK in the ||ashlands||?
everything else can be grown in the meadows and stuff so.
Basically don't worry too much about making full on bases.
Most you'll have to do is make a farm in I think like two specific biomes to get crops
Also someone fact check me on this
I could be wrong but I think only 2 biomes require a base unless you don't have taking ores through portals on
thanks bossman
Yeah I think it's just 2 biomes. Someone who's more aquainted with the mechanics of that will have to fact check me
mushrooms need mistlands iirc
Wait I thought farming mushrooms was a mod?
the mistlands specific mushrooms
Ooooh.
red/yellow ones yes
Ok so basically it's like, the last 3 biomes that need a base at.
The rest you should be fine without one.
You don't even need like, a full fledged base.
Just like a small hut with a protected farm.
ok thanks bossman i tell this to my fren
Insert gif of billy butcher "that was diabolical"....me testing the berserkir mead on a fuling village..
another W for pure warriors
this is only a theory and its based on my personal experience with the game as I cant find any info regarding this on the wiki, but do copper and tin ores in black forests become more common the further from the centre of the world you are? Ive heard that there is a feature like this with crypts where crypts further from world centre tend to be bigger on average and im wondering if ore frequency is also the case
@tiny tiger I don't believe so, I find just as much throughout black forest. Pretty sure it's random generation based from seed. Regarding the algorithm for crypt. Perhaps.
So, your strategy KINDA worked, but uh... I did manage to die to him 😅
Only once luckily but I did get a lot of axe exp so
I think I'm just too vulnerable to reliably do that trick rn
But you just... roll. And never take damage.
I'm a parry person so.
Yes, but parrying bosses is useless.
Worked for Bonemass. Until I missed one too many but we don't talk about that.
It working doesn't make it useful 😉
It is a waste of stamina.
Bosses cannot be staggered.
Rolling costs less stamina than parrying and avoids all damage.
My plan worked! Until it didn’t
Okay but counterpoint. He stopped attacking for a HOT minute when I parried him.
Bosses = Roll or Jump
Everything that is not a boss = Parry
Still worked. I killed him and got a trophy
He has long pauses between attacks regardless.
So hey.
Well that’s all that matters in the end if he’s dead you win
Having Frostner in my back pocket for when stuff hit the fan really worked out 💀
You got frostner pre boneless?
Bonemass*
Also no I didn't. I was grinding axe exp off him cause I got the crystal battle axe and my axe level was like 2 💀
Ahh
Bumped it up to 20 tho so hey
I find he’s good for farming bow skill too
Once one of my buddies get on I'mma ask if he can help with this.
Not even with the boss. Just ad clear so I can focus on the boss
You can stand on his spawner and never get hit so
Just keep shooting him
i might be ready for bonemass
What'cha workin with?
found 2 silver veins on top of each other
I tried yagluth not too long ago and he was the easiest so far
yeah the boss design is cool but the fight is super easy
max iron armor, max banded shield (for parrying) max iron mace and max huntsman bow
Yeah no you're ready.
Just get poison potions and you're good.
I beat it in troll armor with a harnesk chestpiece and an iron mace.
You could also make tonic of ratatosk if you have found the bog witch
All you need is poison potions.
You really ONLY need poison potions.
And a blunt weapon or ice weapon.
I know, but if he’s already found the bog witch it can’t hurt to make more
Morgen gjall.
I have poison potions and medium healing potions
Yeah you're overkill then LMAO
Like, that boss is quite literally gonna be easy. Just watch out for ads and be ready to time your parries and dodges.
Don't parry.
Regular blocking, rolling and walking back are all better than parrying against bosses
Although if you have a buckler blocking probably won’t work
The poison wasn't actually too troublesome but I dislike the wet debuff a lot.
If you’re rested, you have 200% stamina regen. Wet reduces stamina regen by 15%.
If you’re rested and wet, your stamina will be regenerating at 92.5% of the speed of only rested, it really doesn’t matter that much.
that was the only thing I remember being annoying about swamp ¯_(ツ)_/¯
but parrying is cooler and more fun
And also standard blocking gets you knocked back
way further than if you parry
Parrying trolls is my favourite so far.
I only parry enemies that I can’t stagger with one hit, if I can stagger in one hit, I do that instead because it’s faster.
Ye takes three hits for me to stagger a troll. A parry tho is yummeeh
Yeah and if you combine that with a knife the troll doesn't stand a chance.
I haven't tried knives. Frankly I'm usually too scared to even get close to anything that looks remotely aggressive.
For the longest time all I used was bows. Now for abominations that sucked, and wolves are not ideal to fight with bow either as far as I got, so the crystal axe it was, mainly cuz it looked cool and powerful.
You should try a game of troll balls, you parry the troll and then use the mace special attack while crying out "TROLLBALLZ!"
But yeah, parry and knife is the best strategy once you get proper buckler and knife, you practically melt them by copper age
And if you enter by sneak attack, you off them in a single assault
Hmmm I've got sneak level 34 so that's pretty neat. I also got a black metal knife lying around maybe I'll try that next
I'm currently being a wuss about seeker soldiers tho. I very much dislike fighting in a terrain that's so disadvantageous for someone not being able to fly.
Uhm, if you are going for a full assault you risk the disappointment of seeing the troll fall down in one sneak hit with BM knife, I think
Also a sneak spear throw to the head is a world of pain for them, I like to troll the trolls in many ways XD
Using a polearm, one secondary attack should stagger it with enough skill and then you can just hold primary until it dies
Never used a spear. The closest I've come is the atgeir
Spears are amazing.
I like big circle swings, aka crystal axe or atgeir
All the weapons are nice to play, they all have pretty good points, I'm only missing the 2h sword and ashlands tier weapons
The thing is, I suck at combat anyway so it's all usually ranged, or well... Roll and run, so the weapons I use are just to look cool on stuff that can't hurt me...
*All but one of the weapons are nice to play.
😏
Once I have all the troll hide I need I tend to dig holes and drag trolls in there, how is that for trolling trolls.
.>
I raise you to troll a troll by imprisoning him among dirt pillars XD
I still remember the first time I saw troll and I was wearing nothing but a pair of pants. Freaked me out. Ran around an oak tree for a while until some skellies got involved and I got away
Never done myself, but once I've seen it live, it was hilarious XD
Huh. You're on the satisfactory server too.
Sometimes I play satisfactory, yeah
Maybe I'll start a server with my friends after Valheim to learn how to make a Docker image
I remember the Satis server...
Mnn. I need to play that more again. When I can run it. ATM it has a tendency to get really bad frames
Valheim is more fun currently
Valheim is great fun always
Honestly is one of the games I've played more in my life
...uh huh. Yeah. Uh yeah totally agree with you 🤣
I can second that.
Probably only rivaled by stardew valley and mc
Ah and monster hunter rise
Nice combat, great progression system, nice building framework, interesting mechanics
Against any attack that can be jumped over, jumping is better than rolling
Nice, but I prefer Iceborne
Planning on getting it soon.
I started playing games about four years ago so a lot of stuff I haven't experienced yet
Hmm. I suppose I did that a bit but more out of panic than as a planned action.
Wilds will be great too
I get a bit jumpy when someone's out for my hide.
Panicking after plains will get you a corpse run XD
Played the beta. It was super clunky and I couldn't run more than 45 frames at shitty graphics but the world looks damn great and the smooth transition between cut scene and gameplay was damn wild
If you keep calm instead you can get fu(g)lins by bronze already
Uh ye I had to learn to take care of seekers cuz they're just more mobile than me...
I tend to not keep to biome order, had a settlement in the plains way before I ventured out to get silver...
And I sorta skipped the swamp cuz the noise is scawy
With irons you can already win a skirmish against 3-4 little bastards
Parrying + red foods makes you block over your progression level
...I just hid on pillars. And tamed lox in pits that did the work for me.
Yeah... I am scared. So I use terrain. Can't break my mighty dirt pillars! And nope. Never touched mods...
Eventually, when I've beaten the game and need more, but atm I can't keep up with the updates yet lol
I use mostly QoL mods, but things like breeding tweaks and tames follow when you are in the mood to raise an army are great XD
I just uh... Build house, cook food, and sometimes poke my nose into a dungeon that's about it.
And well. Earthbending with my pickaxe and hoe
I suppose so
Do we know when 1.0 drops? like Ashlands this year but next year?
My phone's scr3nnn is registering hovering as tiuchhnmm black magic
in the future 🧡
nobody knows but everyone has a guess
My guess is Xmas 2025
At the rate it’s going it seems like that’s the best bet maybe only PTB rather than full release like PTB late 2025 Release early 2026?
And considering they said they wanna flesh out the earlier biomes some more it gives opportunity for a content drop early-mid 2025
my buddy and i have been playing the ashlands for the first time the last 2 days. wow wow WOW its been absolute insanity and mayhem
How are you finding it
so many deaths!! but its honestly a ton of fun. having a blast. WAY better experience than that first time playing the mistlands IMO
Yeah dying in mistlands is a very frustrating experience
valheim
aight they broke troll AI. im trying to get it to break copper and it mostly just keeps walking into me, never had this issue before bog witch
Yes because sample size of one Is big enough to be sure of that...
Deep North and 1.0 the same if yes it will be a lot earlier, my guess.
welp at least +1 sample now
Their AI defo feels finicky at times they seem to walk so far around when they could just walk directly towards you
Yeah but they always did that, i was hunting them this playthrough as much as i could and didn't notice any change (started it with release of bog witch)
Not if you’re using wisp torches
its not just the "walk around" part, its they just straight up walk into you and keep pushing you forever it seems
and i was on an almost completely flat copper ore block
ya something's broken obviously
sometimes i get the same behavior with twitchers in ashlands, just keep walking into me lol
Ores in general have pretty weird hitboxes tho tbh lol
so i just got +1 bell as a bonus yield.. i thought they fixed that stuff?
Bell isn't tagged as a weapon or armor would be my top guess.
- Crafting skill no longer provides bonus yield on armour and weapons
is this why I got 2 lox capes?
Today?
yesterday or the day before that. I think
If it was the day before, patch wasn't in yet.
Ah, thought it was pretty neat, just gave it to my friend
Largely considered an annoyance, hence the removal.
I can see that
Understandably useful in MP, but as that is specific to MP-only, not enough merit to keep.
i've only seen you consider it an annoyance sevrahn
I'm happy for you.
@rapid portal you understand how randoms having gif perms could end horribly 😄
Considering what my friends sends me. Yes I do lmao
stumbled into the plains today
My favorite biome!
i found a 2 star mob and it dropped me to 12 hp so i ran for my life
I found myself in a pit taming a wolf, getting the "Your being hunted" raid and being out of stamina I could not get out and the wolves kept filling the pit
No chance
They all fell in the pit? Even more to tame!
doing fader on very hard. die to 2x asksvins + archer that trap me between lava and boss aoe, i die. go to collect my body and run away to recover, more asksvins + voltures + star charred mobs
i swear like 80% of the difficulty of this boss isnt even about the boss itself
lmao
way i handle it is to use the ring of fire/fissure to kill the regular mobs that join in
ya i try to
and now valk joins the fight and 2x archers from lava and i stuytter lag and die

aight finally killed him
5 deaths
@shy marlin any advice on playing melee in very hard ashlands? i feel like its impossible when theres multiple mobs.. i dont do enough dmg to stagger charred warriors
and my himmini swing doesnt stagger for long enough
It's rough
Biggest thing I would recommend is just having complete awareness. Even when you're fighting things you should be lookin for what's in the distance, what you can snipe, and just becoming super efficient when killing stuff
All while not being hit
I know this doesn't really help but the answer is honestly just get really good
Using the s key to move outta attacks in invaluable
If you haven't already I'd recommend practicing on hard, and getting to a point where you absolutely dominate the ashlands on hard, and then move up to very hard
any weapon skill breakpoints?
wdym
like get min 50 axe skill
ah dang ive been super slacking on bows
meme'd a bit with xbow but feels kinda lame
ye bows is gonna be the biggest one, you can just pew pew pew asks/archers/valks down
xbow opener --> bow pew pew pew is the strat
damn so even with melee setup im not gonna be meleeing 😔
ok well ty, time to grind some lvls then :D
if you can record I can also review gameplay footage if you want
ah thats rly kind :) thx a lot. ill def ask for that if i keep struggling
btw what melee weap setup do you recommend? im guessing berserkir axes at least
Klossen + Thundering Berserkir Axes for groups is one of my favorite combos, switch axes to Primal version for single target (starred enemies, bosses). Himminafl or Demolisher for knockback and stagger against large groups.
killed bonemass
sounds good. wouyld be cool with an ashlands atgeir with jade enchant
btw does immobilize even work on bosses?
It does.
lol nice, ya i think i noticed my vines stunning fader sometimes but i wasnt sure
I read on reddit that underneath the Jotun skulls (the ones with soft tissue inside the head) there are veins of soft tissue, much like silver ore or something like that.
I tried digging under 2 heads just now and I cant find any soft tissue, anyone know something about this?
Yeah the vines from Wild staff has chance to immobilize like Jade weapons.
i also tried digging further and found nothing
Maybe you mean inside the skull?
nope, beneath it
Never seen soft tissue under the skull
so probably trolls trolling then
Nope, reddit being reddit again
exactly
Maybe the redditor wasn't exactly well versed in English
Or was using mods and doesent know what is and isnt in vanilla anymore
was actually several people commenting in response that they've done the same and found tons that way
but trolls do come in numbers
deep state controlled reddit bots
Before opening the thread have you seen a "the earth is shaking" message by chance? XD
lmao
I am sure they just found more soft tissue inside the actual skull that just goes deep and most of it is underground but we all know the whole skull is filled with soft tissue
great, against the wind again
That's the spirit of the game. Something always against you (usually the wind).
Ehi guys, somebody uses dedicated server with docker? I'm not getting where the plugins actually are, and I'd like to remove a few mods
Fokls in #dedicated-server might help 🙂
If only there was someone to answer my question 🥲
Well, maybe I'll get an answer later
There will eventually 🙂
Whil you wait you might want to check for a docker discord, possibly specific to the docker implementation/image that you use as it sounds like it's more to do with docker than valheim
Thanks for the tip, didn't even think there was a docker discord XD
Frost mead is your friend
I have that recipe unlocked
Bring a few bottles with you, and a few bottles home...
Also, do not underestimate bonfires
what is the obliterator for?
You can put items and materials in there and pull the leave to ‘trash’ them. You’ll get some coal in return.
I almost threw my weapons thinking it'll make them hit lightnings
I should turn hints on
1 coal in an exchange for a max silver sword sounds uncomfy
NO wait CAN I THROW ANYTHING AND GET COAL??
the fun part is that it wouldn't even be 1, it'd be 0.1
even resin?
Actually it is 1 coal per 10 items (other than trophies or wood), so 1 Silver sword would have given you nothing.
(arrows are also an exception, it takes 20 arrows to make 1 coal)
Oh
Helper helping to remember 🙌
Yes, even coal xD
-# and you’ll got 1 coal for 10
Big Nice
You can put anything on it, so not counting the exceptions you get 1 coal per 10 of any items. Exceptions are 1 coal per 5 wood, 1 coal per 1 trophy and like Winter stated, 1 coal per 20 arrows.
W
For some reason my computer crashed on me earlier but it actually ended up working out as it reverted me to before a 2 star draugr archer wrecked me
and I ended up getting 5 extra iron from redoing the crypt
W
As man I’m still missing 2 iron for a level 3 iron pick
How long until content creators realize that love potions allow you to effectively tame trolls for mass logging operations?? Every video is "not really sure what the point is" or "just a joke potion". Plus it pays for itself!
to be sure it does make it easier to reliably summon one or more trolls to break things for you, I think realistically the reason that's maybe not the most useful for that function is its mostly early--before you have tools or tamed lox--that it's useful, but you aren't likely to stumble across bog witch until swamps by which point you're either past or just about to leave this stage; later, it's probably still more efficient to use your own axes/picks and or ride a lox (which can knock down and break down trees sprinting into them) than bothering with summoning and dodging trolls to do it
trolls can easily smash through anything from copper to forests, the potion has plenty of value! a blackmetal axe can tear through pines, sure, but not four at a time.
I will be the first to admit that I have a soft spot for ol' Pauly and his talent for logging, so I haven't ever looked for more efficient options. However, even if it's less efficient that a lox or something, it's now accessible from anywhere in or near a black forest.
I am very excited to make use of them on my next playthrough. I'll be calling trolls in to clear spawners in the swamp, draugr villages, and other things that present a hassle in early-mid game.
And of course to clear acres of land for my usual black forest build. I don't know about most, but I always build my first permanent shelter in the black forest rather than the meadows. Once you learn to get along with the biome, it's just plainly superior. Trolls are a big part of that.
I would build a base in black forest but my friends never want to
Yeah I do the same thing it helps in many ways, getting a constant flow of wood, stones and eyes, speeding the copper age so much and making getting the troll armor much easier
Try finding a cluster of three copper deposits so there's a spot worth investing some defenses into. Then build a nice little mining and forging outpost with a good perimeter that demonstrates how peaceful it can be (especially if you sleep through the nights). After a little time there, you might be able to convert them into black forest dwellers. Also remember roads. Roads solve on of the biggest annoyances of the forest: Knowing where in Odin's realms you're going. @nocturne wolf
Dont click this guys, i hope it desent need to be said but still...
there's also 3 m's...
To be honest, even if there wouldn't be spelling mistakes, you shouldn't click random links
One of our group sometimes chooses pretty hazard places for bases. While we were progressing through Black forest phase in one of our worlds he went to a boat trip and chose a location for our permanent base: a small patch of Black forest between Plains and Swamp and Mountain in background. Fulings from other side and Draugrs and Blobs from other side harassed us quite early there.
that sounds like a great place to watch biomes fight each other, if you set it up right 🙂
It's way easier to build in the meadows but i have to agree that black forest makes a superior spot
Truly I think the best spot for big, fairly easily defensible bases is swamp though. The landscape itself provides lots of "foundation" for you to work with, letting you build wide and tall fairly painlessly
Enemies easily get wet so if you have frost damage you kill them more easily
Was there a chest that works exactly like shoulker box or was I dreaming
No
Dreaming then
This just made me think: How far can the emojis appear vertically? And how close you need to be for them to render?
@wide topaz (You might know the answer to this)
Starting to think how feasible those sign "features" could work in no map, more specifically the floating signals
If you'd like to test your thoughts, here's some stuff that may help:
- On a sign, you can enter <size=x sprite=y> where x is a positive integer for the size of the sprite, and y is the sprite index of your choice, in Valheim, seemingly 0-20 are options.
- The character limit on signs is 50, so if you want more space, you can do <size=x> then copy/paste a unicode emoji symbol
- To change the vertical position, enter new-line characters in the sign, which is \n, and its size depends on the size of the text entry, in this case, the size=x value.
- So my sign text entry is: "<size=300 sprite=10>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n"
- The rich text tags section of textmeshpro covers most of the available modifiers for valheim text, which you can find here: https://docs.unity3d.com/Packages/com.unity.textmeshpro@4.0/manual/RichText.html
The render distance would probably be the build piece of the sign, not the symbol itself
You're correct. @azure yacht I've posted a picture of how far away it appears. It could be a useful method of creating in-game beacons, too. Which is a funny thought.
That actually makes perfect sense in hindsight
Also, been trying follow the instructions and sometimes i get it right and sometimes not
If I want a text floating very high up that says "Home" , how would I do it?
man how are you supposed to play berserkir axes on harder difficulties in ashland? the first attack doesnt do enough to stagger and because the animation is so slow, you barely have enough time to dodge their attack and you just get 1shot
i guess youy have to stagger first with atgeir? but i have lvl 40 polearm and its not even close to staggering enough to swap weapon
I don't use fist weapons, but parrying might help. I've found the easiest way to level Block is during the Skeleton Surprise event.
nah i cant parry on hard/very hard
Ok then. Good luck, my dude. 😉
ty..
i guess i just have to have all skills on 60+ basically
meanwhile mage chilling at lvl 0 just spam some vines ez ez
I remember seeing someone use Himminafl to stagger the target, then switch to Berserkir Axes and leaped with its secondary attack, staggering the target again. Was it @shy marlin ?
ya i do that, but the problem is my stagger with himmini doesnt stagger loing enough, so i cant swap to axes
learned it from Henrik i think
For building impressive things with large footprints I prefer the plains. Just avoid tar pits, cut off line of sight with a stone wall, and you can tame the strongest respawning mob.
Yeah, plains is kinda like meadows, it's easy to build in. After you overcome the initial progression they become the new meadows, the "easy, quick homes" of the late game
its been a productive day, gathered easily over 200 copper and about 60 tin
should last like 5 ingame days lol
My copper storages going bye bye as I build dvergr spiral staircases
un popular opinion, devs should remove the mist and just make it so yagluth drops a material that lets you make the black metal pickaxe
spamming wisp torches in builder mode gets old
tomorrow my plan is to find the bonemass swamp and gather enough iron for some weaponry and armor and then get ready for the battle
oh yeah and find turnips ive still not found any
I think you can use mods to get rid of the mist or make the wisplight go further.
I don't think the mistlands would capture that unique paranoia without the mist
endgame mistlands should provide a better form of mist removal, i hope something like that is implemented before 1.0
yes
make wisplight have 5m more radius or somethign
Another trick: hit 2 first swings at air before the target and then connect it with 3rd and 4th dual hits.
Fyi, for an opinion to be unpopular the opinion in question needs to be disliked/disagreed by plenty/majority of people
you can quickly unequip and reequip hammer it should make the transition to dual axes faster
hammer doesnt have any equip frames
<voffset 10> I think (number sets the height)
Don't you dare take away my mist! How else will I shroud my ceiling?
naw, they should just add a build piece that clears a HUGE radius of mist away using the ceramic plates (so gated behind queen) and maybe black core, some refined eitr, ad other stuff, and for before the queen is killed add 2-3 upgrade levels of wisplight requiring more wisps, silver, and (maybe) refined eitr each of which adds an additional "wisplight ball" circling you clearing away mist and/or expandign the one/each wisplight ball's clearing radius per upgrade level
i like this
since ashlands tier gaulder table lets u upgrade mistlands staffs
it's otherwise perfect as is IMO, although the idea of a torch that ADDS mist is an interesting concept as well--not really much use I can see for it, besides visuals, but that (visuals alone) is a big part of the building aspect
have the wisplight upgrades gated behind structures in the mistlands
maybe 1 upgrade is in the infested mines, another in the dvergr structures
oh that could be cool
refined eitr being an upgrade ingredient would work too
I posted a screenshot of my Mistlands build in the #building-screenshots channel. I personally really like being given constraints/challenges because they inspire unique solutions.
Does anyone know if Hildir and Haldor have a lore story ?
Dvergr who sell wares throughout the lands of valheim
I’m sure there’s more to it
They didn't want to do what all of the other dwarfs were doing (mainly mining and researching stuff iirc) so they started travelimg and trading
still haven’t found haldor man I want this belt already
Some of the lines the dvergrs say
yup, that one gets my upvote too--i'm just repeating something(s) I've literally formally suggested before
don't you mean "mainly, dying to voluntarily walking into lava"?
Heh, i believe they are from the whitebeards clan of them 😄 (mistlands dvergr) Its the redbeards that walk into lava
There are different clans? And they have names? 👀
does anyone build scaffolding when they mine flametal? i get so nervous on those damn lavaiathans. i need a better approach that feels safer
Yep! 😄
I just climb the tower by jumping and start from the top and mine my way down- I’ve never fallen
...isn't Haldor's beard red though?
Hmm, not sure...
Huh, that’s extremely cool! Gotta spend more time with Dvergr lol
Oh! It is!
Is hildirs beard red too
given they're siblings, we can probably safely assume that's most likely the case
Appears to have a white and red dress and green and red necklace
Yes I’ve done that
If you look at the bottom of the pages you will see "Show quotes" for anyone interested 🙂

#memes-and-clips message @cosmic igloo
ah leap with axes ok ill try it
prolly have time enough to do that
also slayer is pretty based, bait attack, jump and as you land you strike
Yes
Or just as a warrior is approaching you just time the special sword attack
Hit em before they approach you and get big damage in
Secondary attack should be enough to stagger non starred Warrior.
ya i tried that some but its scary because sometimes i dont knock back and they stab me as i stab them
my sword lvl isnt very high too so i dont stagger much
I know it does on hard haven’t done vh melee Ashlands in 2 months
its 15 lmao
I'm only playing Hard on my newest world, haven't gotten to Ashlands yet.
Vh seems like menace to me.
on mage it feels like hard=vh
but ya lvling bow was good, i shrekt a lot of charred dudes with it
add me if u want to play valheim with me
Thanks for sharing!
Hmm I must be missing something- the quote section is empty?
For the rogue page at least
Should make the Eitr refinery spit cut through mist
There should be white letters "Show quotes" with dotted orange line underscoreing it 🤔
would 15 degrees of aiming melee attacks up/down really, really be so unreasonable? Just 15 degrees?
Yes.
you mean just like the raw refined eitr as a drop clears away a radius of mist?
My hot tub keeps turning off. Does it need a chimney?
yes
not even necessarily a chimney, just a lack of obstruction of the pipe where the smoke comes out, otherwise build up of smoke will periodically smother the fire until enough smoke particles decompose to allow it to start up again--i'm not sure if you have a totally unsheltered hot tub if rain puts it out though
Bleh. I'll need to figure out a different place to put it then. I can't raise the roof of the basement without rebuilding my entire house
heyo
i guess i'm a big wuss. it feels sketchy as hell. doesn't help that i did fall off and into the lava to insta-die one time lol
Wait THE FROSTNER wasn't a two handed hammer
No, it's just a mace that looks like a hammer
I LOVE IT
I thought it'd be like smacking the ground and freezing the surroundings
jesus christ melee is so fcking pathetic compared to mage. its so sad
the lightning weapons are so cool ... damn
😾
ngl it looks like Mjölnir
try taking one hit without your cowardly bubble 😤
you know what I'm learning greek
lmao 1 hit kills me also on melee
Not if you kill the enemy first 😉
oh i guess nvm it doesnt kill me on mage
what kinda """"melee"""" build did you have my guy
You mean I'm happy with my melee weapons being OP while there is a far greater mage weapons ?
my last character with flametal armour was a beastly tank in the ashlands in 95% of scenarios
what difficulty
Not until the final two biomes, and in my experience they aren't as strong as most say they are, but maybe I just need to try them more
🗿
🗿 difficulty?
anyway being hit is irrelevant
IKIK
As soon as that is mentioned i lose interest, i use the difficulty that is reasonable 😛
Aaa blobicycake, should I leave my iron mace now and use the hammer instead?
If someone is playing on a harder difficulty it is not the norm or baseline for something.
