Has been replaced by "get money."
shame
i mean i thought the ashlands was pretty difficult, it had a harsh learning curve. if you dont adapt you dont thrive
And casuals have the fattest wallets.
i mean honestly the ashlands specifically i didn't find difficult at first in alot of scenarios, just really annoyingly tedious
Oh theres another starred warrior, and 17 twitchers, and 4 voltures, and a morgen, and a valkyrie, and 2 lava blobs, and some askvin, wow im having so much fun 😎
i mean most of my dificulty was self caused. i would just disrespect the enemeies and die for it. or get myself into a bas situation and make the wrong decisons leading to death
The only real "fooooock" on entry to Ashlands for me was that everything is immune to Poison.
So all your bombs for dealing with AoE groups just... don't work.
a lot of " let me drink this health potion right in front of this guy like hes not just going to hit me while im giga slowed by drinking animation"
i died like this several times before i thought " hey maybe, you get some space between your enemy before trying to heal"
Eh
i think Ashlands is a biome where people who naturally played cautious did alright, and people who coasted through biomes recklessly got a rude awakening.
Demolisher.
Infinite space.
Blob, i think you would LOVE a little game named Jump king
Jump King? You mean... Mario? 😛
But I’m already a Jump Viking
didn't there used to be much more spawns in the ashlands at first
the spawn rates and numbers were adjusted down
i havent been there since last playthrough
No no no, its not a me, Mario 😄
yea, i played up through the plains like 5 times before this current playthrough so i felt pretty confident. i just coasted through every biome just hack and slashing everything in my way. mistlands was not much different even tho i had never been there. not enough enemeis to be too cautious for. but ashlands was pretty brutal
and until i could obliterate things with flametal equipment, i seriously just found it to be constantly annoying.
playing as mele tho, i think if you go into the ashlands as a mage, its pretty easy
the fire staff is broken
i stormed the ashlands as a mage. I wouldn't call it "easy", but it was doable. I've died a couple times. Mostly stupidity. I haven't died as melee yet, but i've come close.
starting as mele is huge disadvantage since you have 0 clue what the enemies do
and you are in kill threat perma
yeah, that's what i figured. that's why i went in as a mage 🙂
your only "advantage" is that you are probably running mistwalker so your attacks slow
i still remember my first warrior, i walked up, went to parry
then he delayed and 1 shot me
The first enemy I fought was a 1-star warrior who left me below 10 hp
^
when you are used to parrying for 700 hours, then this one specific enemy has a delayed attack
tends to prove as a challenge
Heh, i feel that surprise when first encountering them 😄
I immediately learned why the feather cape had been buffed for that update
If i can recount my first landing...it was between like 3 spawners and my ship got destroyed by like....is there even a limit to how many fucking charred can be present at the same time?
I’m pretty sure the spawners have no limits, that might just be night spawns. I’ll check the wiki
Monuments of torment can spawn as many enemies as they need to
well pulling it out of my ass it looked like 40-50 charred...and i just got here 🙂↔️
i was actually so upset and i wanted to explore so badly i just used dev commands to fuck everything and then rebuild my ship and a portal, it was all dark and it was night-time and i got my ship stuck on shallow water ofc
i think just the next day i then fought off another horde and found my first morgen, didn't try to fight it just tried to hide on a rock which it instantly destroyed, that was terrifying until i found out how easy they are to parry.
Valheim is definitely a game where knowledge and not panicing are key
yea i heard quite a bit of people had problems with morgens, but i never personally did. might be the 2nd easiest enemy
i tend to die when i forget the "don't panic" part
true
Morgens are so simple in melee because you just parry them and they never roll around.
whenever i place my stone throne it breaks...??
Place it on stone or ground
okay
Stone can’t be supported by wood
that was my hunch
unless the wood is blue, meaning its grounded
Don't tell the devs about wood lintels in stone buildings
morgens need to deal like more damage or something.
i mean, they do the same as warriors. i will not fight a 2 star morgen without bonemass
well atleast warriors are a bit more difficult to parry sometimes
true
Funny, given a Morgen is a literal bone mass 😉
i think my 2nd putrid hole ever had a 2 star morgen, its still in there
i know someones gonna say warriors are easy but my experience is having difficulty figuring them out
might go challenge it for its hole someday
died to lord reto more than fader
i'm going to absolutely kill lord reto with asksvins
use signs to make a box for them whiel they hatch
@vital umbra oh i struggled to learn their attack patern for a long time, they are the hardest enemy for me to face still.
Their damage isn’t the problem, they’re too tanky
4800 health AND a 0.5x resistance to physical
they are weak to lightning tho, and i use thunder axes
He’s just a blue warrior
only problem is, i cant parry a starred morgen with axes
I struggle with red warriors 🗿
I hope you at least find the green ones ok
Sprint jump back, wait for their swing and do a secondary while sprinting forwards before you land
Well he has more than 4 times the hp of 2 star warrior, and dmg raised by 180, 140, 240 and 100 😄
is his cave big enough for me to summon a troll in there?
But with all the two-star spawners players need to get past for the Dyrnwyn, they will have a lot of practice
Trolls can’t be summoned in dungeons
Rats!
my practice didn't pay off well enough i guess lol
i dare not take on lord retro as a mele
he made a warrior build resort to arrow spamming and running away terrified
Yes, those work
?
Dodge duck dip dive and dodge 🙂
i hate dodging
gonna be so honest I have barely noticed enemy scaling since switching to mage lol
i dont feel like dying 20 times
hi scissor
I just fireball until death hits them, just takes a little longer on the warriors than it did on seekers hi
my asksvins hatched btw
root staff is kinda insane tbh
wait till u upgrade it. i can summon 5 roots
it feels a bit unfair
3-5 roots, then you just circle around them, and yea thats that
something getting too close? use fire staff
Fire mage and root mage are broken.
Frost mage and ling mage are severely lacking.
all i ever heard is how great frost mage is in the ashlands
slowing enemies and enemies being weak to its damage
Fireball does better.
There’s no reason for a mage to limit themselves like this
i just entered the ashlands on a mage build on someones world....legit fam, fireball was better sometimes and for alot of situations the ice staff was more reliable
Some of use find fire magic boring 🤷♂️
So we are back to being melee until Frost gets a better option.
the fire staff does more blunt dmg than fire dmg, so it proves very useful, also the added knockback, just keeps you a safe distance from anything that might kill you
I always used the frost against voltures, serpents, & warriors, and fireballs against archers and morgens pretty much..
Fire allows you to just toss it out and keep moving for full damage.
Frost requires you to slow down and channel.
this exactly, I just throw whatever fits the situation best at them
ice staff only good for blobs
...i guess we just have completely different experiences then..
i have found the ice staff amazing
ice is definitely more reliable but it doesn't feel nearly as fun, also forced you to be much closer due to the spread on the icicles
You are speaking in terms of "Well, in my personal experience."
I am speaking in general terms that always apply.
i feel like ice staff just requires getting too close
I typically only used the ice staff for single target or as a defensive tool for retreating since it would slow enemies
and the firespread from the fireball has almost killed me a couple times, i am doing close range pretty much anyways..
and root/trollstav have taken its place as my defensive options now
If Ice Staff had better accuracy with higher skill and didn't spread as much it becomes a different conversation.
i dont want to be anywhere near a warrior, if he can swing at me, im too close ( if im playing as a mage)
shield, parry, ice, has been what i have been doing
So you're half-maging.
parrying as a mage is wild
Which is very, very important to clarify at the beginning of the discussion....
am i?...i'm only using magic weapons and armour lol..
ive never parried anything as a mage
the shield is wonderful for parrying
The staff of protection can parry every blockable attack because you take no stagger, it’s so broken if used right
dont heven have a shield
REAL mages use REAL robes and REAL EITR ONLY FOOD, REAL mages don't use these SILLY mundane tools like SHIELDS
...wh?...wha?...i mean the bubble..
"In my experience, Ice Staff is amazing compared to Fire Staff. I will choose to completely leave out that I am actually comparion Ice Staff + Shield vs. Fire Staff, as I don't find this crucial detail relevant to the debate."
oh, I see, still odd but yeah the bubble shield is great for parrying, if that's your thing
That counts as a shield, because it shields you, i thought that would just make sense to call it
i dont think that bubble can parry tho no?
the fact that i parried with it suggests otherwise
the bubble automatically guarantees that any parry with it active will always succeed
as it also prevents overflow damage from hitting you if something breaks the bubble
The shield does the parrying.
The bubble enables the parrying.
If i did that technique with the firestaff, which i have, then the firespread nearly kills me if my shield runs out.
feather cape and all that
oh, i never used a shiled or tried to block ever, so i never parried with the bubble
Ok but you understand how this is a completely different conversation now with the correct context?
the fire spread in the ashlands only tickles me, and I still wear the feather cape half the time
i don't know what context the fireball staff is better in, i like using it against archers so far.
You can parry while holding a staff, or any weapon/shield that isn’t a tower shield. The bubble negates all stagger so the parry can’t fail.
yea i know you can block/parry with a staff, i just never did it
parrying is so awesome
consider the following: the average ashlands encounter consists of 20 different enemies all trying to rip you a stucturally superfluous behind simulatneously, the ice staff is best suited to one on one scenarios, the fireball nukes with no discrimination
The origins of the the conversation was purely Fire Staff vs. Ice Staff.
You argued on behalf of Ice Staff and discounted every point because "Not my experience." while leaving out critical information that pertains to how you are gaining said experience.
So in your now-given context, no, you will not find Fireball better.
ahh i do use the fireballs to break up a crowd, and then for all the stragglers it is terribly inefficient to use up so much mana on some individual twitcher or warrior
the fireball does passable single target damage but where it really shines is the AoE potential
For most people, who are in the original context, Fireball is better.
now, real shit, why does dundr have to suck so bad
it's so cool conceptually but in reality giving the mage a shotgun just isn't as effective as I'd hope
it doesnt, its just a close quarters weapon
See my initial about waiting for better Ice/Ling options.
Parry a morgen then hit it with the dundr. You will immediately change your mind.
One on one encounters i don't care about the fireball staff as much, The ice staff is faster and more efficient in close quarters aswell, to parry enemies then keep them slowed is so great.
yk what that sounds like a fun time, I'm gonna go get my dundr
yea i like to be as far away as possible, which makes the ice staff useless since it will miss 70% of its projectiles
when i have used the fire staff to fuck up a crowd, like i said with the stragglers, the fireball doesn't work as good for me.
ahh i don't like to be far away because i'm a warrior at heart, i still like to play around with magic.
I wish it was closer to bows and got higher accuracy with skill level.
I think i will like the dundr quite alot when i get to it.
I kinda don't wanna use the trolstav 😎
when im running mage, my biggest goal is survival, so i will just stay at a distance, and ideally never take dmg
I typically try to play mage as a mid-range class anyways, but what's awful is that even with the frost staff at mid range I still miss 80% of my shots unless I'm shooting in to a crowd, which would just be better dealt with by the fireball
it's really strong, just comes with the risk of having to clean up your own mess if you use it irresponsibly
ice staff is good for disposing of trolls tho after they clear the mob
nothing like using a summoned troll to get like 300 ashwood then watching it get slaughtered by hordes in the ashlands
The trollstav is also an amazing pickaxe
yup, trollstav is my favorite weapon of mass destruction
trollstav best fortress raiding tool in the game
K is the best fortress raiding tool in the game 😛
took me a second to figure out why the road most travelled fit the ashlands so well, I'm literally in valheim morrowind rn
i might go raid some fortresses today, need some iolite, my axes are still lvl 1 ):
opposite issues here lmao, I have so many gems and nothing to use them on since I don't have the flametal to experiment with every single weapon
Morroheim.
I started carrying both Ling axes and Blood axes.
Swapping depending on scenario. Is fun.
why do some charred warriors just walk away? they dont do the classic AI pathing of greydwarf, they just simply.. walk away
like i just met some 2 star charred warrior, i hit him once and he just 180s and walks away.. why
bruh, one of my asksvins has taken a liking to my dining hall lmao
just started walking around in there, it somehow managed to climb on top of the fermenters
Hey guys anybody can help me and my friend to join a server, preferably spanish
we are 2 guys looking to play with other peole
You can look through #1024264966712340510 🙂
If an enemy can’t attack for long enough, they try to walk away and eventually lose aggro
ah
looking for the secret stash
helpful tip for anyone looking to tame loxes, plan your base with murphy's law in mind, anything that can hurt the lox will hurt the lox
my lox keep walking into my beehives and bonfire because I figured they wouldn't be stupid enough to walk directly into the beehives and fire
i feel like its the other way, anything the lox can destroy, they will destroy
LMAO, uh yea the creature ai is very stupid, they dont even see the fire
what's more annoying is that they get scared, and proceed to RUN INTO MORE BEEHIVES
i had one of my askvins climb on top of a hearth, then just stand there as its getting burned. he did not care at all
I may just make a whole nature enclosure on that mistlands island and put my bees there so the idiots don't trample the hives
true
gorlock the destroyer was certainly living up to her namesake
i used stake walls to enclose my lox, im constantly having to repair and rebuild. they just destroy it at the sight of any enemy
thats pretty much why i don't wanna use it, i never liked summoning or pet builds in games, i wanna do the fighting myself.
hes adamantly joining the festivities
yeah well she needs to get her nose out of my god damn mead supply
it's MY alcohol addiction not hers
i want to put an askvin in my base, but its not complete and is not enclosed, and i dont want my askvin being stupid and going outside
man its so fun to fight charred warriors, i cant think of any non-boss unit i've enjoyed more
fallen valkyries are pretty good too but its less fun as melee
I hate valkyries with a burning passion
i used to be scared of the valks in mele, but i got used to them
after killing about 30 of them
i just dont like that u can basically only attack it after u parry it's talon attack
i haven't figured out valk melee yet. still working on that. seems easier to kite them and shoot with jade ripper
you dont even need to jump
yea it is pretty inconsistent, either you hit or dont even if they are low enough you should be able to hit
for me i usually drink fire resist mead just to be safe, then parry talon attacks and dodgeroll the spin attack
2-3 cycles of parrys is usually enough to kill them
ya same. i dont drink the fire resist tho since i found the projectiles to be so slow anyway
like u can just walk and it will miss
slow yes, but sometimes i accidentally walk into the fire on the ground
fire resist is cheap, better to just drink it
fair enough
exactly
barely and cloudberries are so abundant
it was the same with gjalls
could i fight them without it? sure, but ill still chug one just to be safe
sometimes ill even just chug one if i see a lava blob
another easy to dodge explosion, but if they do hit that burn hurts
do you use feather cape?
nah
thats why
if you have a feather cape each tick is doing like 30-40 dmg
from those blobs
well id say ditch that shit anyway, theres not any high mountains like in mistlands
there is more use than just no fall dmg
to be completely honest I prefer the feather cape to every other cape, even the asksvin and ashen capes
the ONLY reason I don't run it 100% of the time is because they gave it a fire weakness
and there currently isnt a better cape, unless you are going full tank mele
like if you are going full flamemetal heavy armor and ashen cape
understandable, but every other armor set feather cape is better
aight
jumping is op
yea i use it on mage setup
sad to see the jump increase taken off, but still really good for jumping and getting out of tough situations
also those giant rocks all around, are really useful when fighting huge hoards, and being able to jump off them without dmg
u mean the flametal pillars?
no
just the natural rocks, the ones that have weird ridges on them
enemies can climb them, but only 1 at a time
they funnel 1 by 1 up it, and if they get too close you can jump off, and then repeat the cycle
ah aight
Why not use barley wine?
Feather cape + lightfoot + eikthyr = 0% jump stamina
hellooo, i recently started playing Valheim on my brothers server it's been fun but i think it would be more fun if i had other friends who play and can voicechat while we play together
what the fuck is my bench's problem I place it down on a GROUND LEVEL FLOOR and it shatters like glass
wait really??
apparently grausten and black marble benches do not get along
Yes. Jumping won’t even interrupt stamina regen so you can dodge everything
Feather cape reduces jump cost?
yeah
Yes, by 20%
This was added in the ashlands update
yk, we've got quite a few darkwood tables and a darkwood chair, where's our darkwood benches?
Wiki doesn’t mention it so I was curious
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Feather_cape
Feather cape is a craftable Armor piece that gives 100% fall damage reduction and 20% jump cost reduction as well as limiting fall speed to 5 m/s, due to the Feather fall effect, with the common protection of resistant to frost, however it is very weak against fire.
i wish boss powers also had some passive effect
I only bothered checking the effects section, other capes have stamina reductions listed there
Laziness moment (from me)
i just spent like 5 whole minutes chasing my own wisp
i was so confused as to why i couldnt just pick it up
lmao
the best part is
i did this last night without realising it was my own wisp and just eventually gave up
LMAO
sometimes i put my wisp on just to go collect sap, then forget about it, and become encumbered, and am like " bro how is this too heavy!"
ngl, ever since I went to ashlands I haven't even bothered equipping any mist stuff
even for my sap runs, I just deal with the mist the entire time lol, probably gonna set up some wisp torches soon
I still gotta make a dedicated portal hall at some point
same, rn all my portals are underneath the elder platform
mine are all on my second floor of my house rn lol
too many portals for that
I'm wondering if I'd be able to make some sort of tower at spawn for them all lol
i have like 20 seperate portals
have the forsaken altars in the center of it
oh yeah, not all my portals are in this house rn lol, just the most important ones, 8 or so?
Why?
maybe, but you cant build very close to the altars
to go places
yeah ik, was gonna see how I could get around that if at all
I like to have 3 portals, 2 that I am using and one that is always unlinked and named backup
i dislike renaming portals
also if im exploring, i like to go to the nearest portal if i forgot to bring a spare
I dislike searching for the right portal amongst many of them and having to grind twice the amount of portals and not placing portals where convenient because I don't want to add yet another portal to my base
That's exactly why there's one named backup
just add like trophies over the portals, or signs, thats not the end of the world.
thats the point for a portal hub, and there is no searching if you just remember how u have it set up
3?? i have portals for everything lol, my biome specific farms, places to farm stuff like finewood, place to collect sap, boss portals, traders, and whatever else misc stuff
I always have like 25 portals at the end of a playthrough, and it is convenient too, portal hubs can look really cool, i outlined a mistlands portal with black marble etc etc...
I just like to play as efficiently as I can
having more portals is more efficient tho
well having a portal to exactly what u want is efficient
not a single of my 20 portals do i not know exactly where its placed, and have to search for the name
I know
i have ideally one per biome, one per boss.
A main base, and whatever farm is necessary
I usually end up with about 60 to 70 portals on the map but at my base I will only use 2
how do you guys name your portals?
wdym
I go from 1 to 70
just simply name what it takes u to
i usually just name it the biome it is in, if mutliple, just add numbers
I have way too many portals to use anything but numbers
"sap farm", "haldor", "fader", ...
like i just name them numbers then have a notepad page that lists what they go to
Are there any mods that allow building stuff in Troll Caves/Burial Chambers/etc.?
simple for me, meadows, eikthyr, black forest, mine, elder, trader1, trader2, trader3, swamp, bonemass, mountains, tetra cave, moder, silvermine, plains, farm, yagluth, mistlands, sap, home, spawn, ashlands, fader.
no those are technically not part of the map so u cant build in them
i mean maybe there is a mod that allows u, but idk
those are instances that are very high in the sky not on the main map
Sry, I mean mods that are recently updated. There are mods to do this, but they haven't been updated for Ashlands.
I leave 0 at my base all the time for getting back to rest and grab food when exploring
I did not know this.
Reminds me of my first playthrough, I had like 40 portals at my base and they all had names like that, never going back to that mess
that seems like less of a mess than somehow remembering 1-70???
numbers would confuse me, id never remember where they went
that actually kinda baffles me, i ain't braining that shit lol
You mark it on the map
what a mess that'll become with all the stuff i already mark
lot easier to type in a number than to remember how my dumbass named the portal
i don't understand, i think i am a dumbass for not being able to remember the number, and i find the name to be easier.
Just write it down on notes
then add a number for multiple instances, like Mountain 3
why would i ever make notes
How it usually goes is that you have the last 2 portals you made, let's call it 30 and 31, then if you want to keep moving forward, you change the portal named 30 to 32, take another portal, enter portal 31 and when you are ready to come back, place the portal and name it 32
🙂↔️
this game is seriously not that complicated that i want to use notes, i only do that for grim dawn
then don't complain LOL
i use 1 unnamed portal for my quick access portal. it goes straight home and nowhere else
what am i complaining about and whats so egregious about it???...i have a perfectly fine system...
not u
but its preference i suppose, id just get confused with numbers
It's just a way to save a ton of time by never moving backward to your portal, which is a waste of time and often dangerous (unrested, it turns night or whatever) and it also save a ton of material
The ones that are like "ugh.. i cant remember all of this.. but I wont do any steps to help me remember..'
its so easy to understand that eikthyr leads to eikthyr tho...i seriously don't get it
i mean i guess my portal could be named whatever it wouldnt matter, i know where they go by where i placed them in the portal hub
base leads to base, mine to mine, like, lol..
i dont even read portals
whats with all this math
yeah but how do you spell eikthyr
eikthyr.
🗿
why u need an eikthyr portal?
hard 😂
just go spawn, hes close 100% of the time
why would i not want to have one
and if u dont have a spawn portal, then idk ur wasting time
I hate gjall
Why do you need an eikthyr portal if you already defeat him too
i have a spawn portal, i don't wanna walk to eikthyr tho fuck that.
i already get that in like 90% of the gameplay that there is so i actively do not want to have to run anymore
i've gotten to level 100 run by the time i hit mistlands
until my run skill reaches 100, ill run anywhere without complaints
who says i need one, i want one.
K.
its a boss fight, i can test things, thats always fun, i like fighting things and stuff.
How do you approach the mistlands if you want to have every portal on the map linked to one at your base?
I like how turning 0.2 pounds of flax can make 2 pounds of thread
@rotund parrot my main thing with how u do it, i dont want to run to a portal, then look at the map, then name it where i wanna go. i just wanna run through the portal
say whatnow
I guess its on par with how using 300 pounds of black metal can make a 0.3 pound sword
make a portal at your base named mistlands and make a portal in the mistlands named mistlands 🤔
did i misinterpret something
What I do is I rename the portal at my base depending on where I want to go
So you just have one portal and you hope to find something then run back to it?
i dont have every portal going to my base, but i do have a portal to my base where the rest of the portals are
if i can't remember the word "mistlands" then maybe i deserve to get stranded 🤣
my base has 3 portals total, to spawn for boss power swaps, the kitchen for food and mead cooking, and to the portal hub which is far away from my base for less instance count
Do you have a portal for your kitchen?
i do
You don't have to run to it, since I have 2 I place them exactly where I have my maximum rest bonus so I automatically get that and I just reenter the last portal I made 90% of the time
Where did you build your kitchen? xD
in the plains, at my farm
oh I see
i am so confused about these like meticulous systems people have conjured up for portals
Oh man you need to go through 2 portals
i don't even have a hub, not really, unless you count my base.
I usually create one portal to each location
does rock floats in the air now?
well i go through 5 portals consistantly
but thats just how i have my world set up
i have like 8000 cores and greydwarf eyes
8000 cores?
no, but you might not have dug it out enough
surtling farms
look at #valheim-help
hyperbole my man 🧡
i dont even have a farm i just loot every single crypt i find
yea it may be still attached somewhere, the hitbox is not realative to how it actually looks, go around and see if you can hit anything
I must say, dundr isn't my number 1 choice for the ashlands, but god damn it feels nice to blow a seeker to pieces with it
pretty sure crypts also regenerate the loot
idk maybe im tweaking but i swear ive looted the same crypt 3 times and got surtling cores lol
Just the mushrooms
gunna be honest the dundr....feels really, really weird and when i saw it i felt it was borderline out of place in the game lol....oh its just a straight up shotgun 👽
nah surtling cores most definitely do
idk i havent looted a crypt since swamp
i found 2 geysers right next to eachother, go sit there for 10 min and get 30 cores
and i have probably 8000 greydwarf eyes (not exagerating, greydwarf farm op)
Surtling cores don't even spawn in sunken crypt, about the burial chambers, the surtling cores do not respawn
cutting trees sucks tho, but again, free woodcutting skill progression
as someone who wants to hit 100 on every skill, every boring task, turns to progression
i love cutting trees
do campfires still prevent enemy spawns??
istg i have 60 campfires around my base and i am still swarmed by greydwarves
there may be gaps, campfires are rly hard to tell their radius
but they are scared of fire, so if u have them all lit they should stay away
lots of wood usage tho
i am at the plains in progression with run 81
ahh my computer is strange @plush umbra, according to it and according to discord you sent that message one minute in the future
oops i forgot that channel is not for text 😅
😃
dw about it, i accidentally napped into the future
thank u btw, i did not even know what soft particles did i just didn't notice any immediate difference so i shut it off
are you going to a mysterious location?
yeah, but that's not the main reason I'm sailing
first island had no forts, second only had one, so I need more flametal
fair
i got pretty lucky, only 3 islands in my ashlands, 2 smaller ones on the side and a massive one in the center. the first one tho did have no fortresses (one of the side ones)
my current plan is to go to the very edge of the boiling water and sail sideways until I'm above the mysterious location on my map
but it allowed me to get a portal down on 2 of the 3 continents
then I sail down through the spikes
good plan
damn I wish I brought my ice staff for once, one of the few things I use it for is dealing with serpents and bonemaws
If I knew what the internal name for the spires was, I would be /forcedelete-ing the shit out of them.
thats like the general consensus....i have not seen a single person say they outright like the things 🤣
thankfully my second island had a fader altar so I don't need to find that again
i swear to odin...its a cool idea...the stormy seas the big spikes....but if the fucking things were just a liiiiitttle further apart so you don't get your obtusely large ship stuck so much of the time....
i like them, i think they are a cool addition for a lategame biome
just dont like sailing around them a lot, but the initial experience is good
Yes, The very first time they were cool, After that i preferred the fly command 🤭
i prefer to suffer if it means not cheating
holy SHIT bonemaws have a high spawn rate
Yup.
I never cheated quite so much as when i got to the ashlands in my last playthrough, I hated corpse runs, I hated the sailing, I hated grinding for building materials, So i remedied all of those things..
I made a big ol base using up whatever building materials i had and spawning in what i didn't have enough of, That largely consisted of black marble.
having cheated in a lot of games ( back when you needed cheat codes) ive learned that 9 times out of 10 the more annoying less easy route, usually proves to be more fun and enjoyable in the long run
I never cheated in crafting materials or food, nor resources for ships or portals or any of that
always bring spare crafting benches on ashlands voyages lol, can't count how many times placing one on a spire and repairing my drakkar has saved me
ironic that moder's power is helping me get to the faderland
moder power op, doesnt last long enough tho
5 min for most powers is pretty decent, but 5 min when sailing, legit nothing
I wish it affected the asksvin cape too
full speed fenris + asksvin + ratatosk + 5 mins of perfect wind
if you are lucky you will start a voyage with wind advantage, use moder when it switches (it will always switch) and hopefully ur back to advantage when it ends
most sailing trips take longer than 5 min tho so if unlucky you got 5 min of advantage, then a slog
I did, unfortunately it was not back to advantage
rip
more bonemaw fighting
bonemaw meat is pretty decent food tho
same stats as the misthare meal
too bad I'm magemaxxing
based
Bonemaws... the reason I keep Spinesnap around 🙂
fireball staff is surprisingly effective on them tbh
Spirit Damage bow goes hard.
so long as you can hit your shots
i cannot for the life of me....also why i like the ice staff
you know, this ashlands island was actually fairly easy to dock on
I might make a port here for return trips lol, apparently 2 dvergr just cooked themselves alive in the shore
to all my mages out there, favorite forsaken power?
Queen >>
I've just been using queen ever since I got it, pickaxe dmg is nice utility and eitr regen is goated
Eikthyr is good too, Fader also good
ahh i'm not a mage am i allowed to coin in
sure
bonemass > fader > eikthyr > queen > moder > elder
for non-mage builds?
if so i could get behind that
yeahh pretty much
damn, I have learned the hard way that lava actually kills you, I ran across it on the past two islands because they were so small the pools never gave way to actual liquid
the lava in this game is highly ridiculous lol
flametal armour has such a laughable bonus effect
god I love the berserkir axes
sometimes I just don't wanna wait on my eitr, I wanna go in and rip some demons apart
they would be almost my favourite but sword and shield is bae
ever since getting used to dealing with no shield on the atgeir, they're a pretty decent substitute for himminafl
not as much stagger abuse, but a fuck ton of damage
well i just like swords, and i also like shields, and they just so happen to be atleast reliable in almost every tier.
yep, tbf the only swords I plan on using now that I've gone mage are mistwalker and dyrnwyn
i love the dyrnwyn so much 🤩
I like the mistwalker since it's just frostner but sword, plus it lets me not bring a wisp around, as for dyrnwyn it's gonna take me so long to get I might as well use it
I may mess with niddhog as well
To be fair, at 0 skill you can still parry everything that isn't starred.
At 50 skill you can parry all 1-stars.
(Blocking with Axes in Ashlands)
With what food setup?
HHS.
can black marble survive in ashlands
yep
dope
yep, would argue it's the best material tbh due to its immunity to elemental dmg
not that there's a whole ton of elemental dmg in the ashlands, but it's a nice bonus
With my continuous support of HHH in ashlands (not at all optimal, but I enjoy it), HHH should be able to parry most 1 star enemies in ashlands with axes and lvl 0 blocking(if I did math correctly)
i mean grausten still looks better and is easier to acquire
only one of those statements is true, black marble is the prettiest of the rocks
might partially depend on the look you're going for
i think it makes cozier looking places sure..
fair, imo black marble is more suited to fortress style builds or just strong looking builds in general, grausten is more of a lighter stone
I like my base to be imposing so my current favorite combo is ashwood, black marble, and darkwood
i like cozy
I will say though grausten is easily the best stone floor
as little space as possible and tacky cluttered all that stuff
I try to go for scary on the outside cozy on the inside, I'll put a screenshot in #building-screenshots rq
christ i am not as good as like 80% of the populace using that channel 🥶
lol, same tbh
I'm not bad at building but I'm not amazing either, I'd just say I'm good
ughhhh the worst part of plains basing is the random fog sometimes
I lost a ton of screenshots of my old bases in my last playthrough so i salvaged what i can #building-screenshots
hm, not bad
brenna trophies and bone throne are very fun
that world is still on a local save on another computer so i'll post more another time
not a huge fan of the bone throne tbh, prefer black marble
love brenna trophies though, put some by my charcoal kilns, hopefully I can get a rancid remains trophy and put that by the eitr refinery
well that was when the ashlands came out, nerding out over everything, even using an ashwood bed instead of dragon 😅
ohh i didn't notice that the meadows and mountains voice-chats are uncapitalised, and the black forrest has two r's
there it is
so who was gonna warn me the mysterious location spawns exclusively 2 star charred
me
id love to see them add a time clock to the game to tell when night ends and the day starts cuz other then the days flashing it needs something for time like the game alot
you can basically just build one, never done it because idc at all but i have seen it done
a sun-dial, otherwise a clock would not fit in the game.
did u know that the mysterious locations spawn 2 stcharreds
as far as i remember 2 starred warriors even in full ashlands armour really fucking suck
this is why I love and hate the staff of protection
on one hand, I can survive anything with it, on the other I can only survive it once
you can't, and I have max eitr lmao
the issue is I have to cast the bubble, then it gets shredded instantly, rinse and repeat until I die
run more better faster
oh...."i get the chills"....insert the i'm in danger meme
i also somehow just activated bonemass in an instant by dodging at the same time
holy fuck...i should be more equipped while building 😓
How does a cloudberry taste?
Try some.
sadly the devs havent added compatibility for that depth of VR
whoever told me to try parrying a morgen before shooting it with the dundr, great suggestion
it lept at me when it was low and I had my barrier up, parried it, blew it to pieces
You know they're real, right?
wait really?
Yes.
yes i've known this, i always wanted to go to norway, and cloudberries are one of the reasons why
I HATE fallen valkyries
y
was mining on a lavaiathan, bitch shows up out of nowhere, I put my shield up, still get instakilled
and I was planning to relocate my camp so my portal is down
f5 > fly 🧡
yeah, that's the plan
😃
I tried just rolling back the save but that didn't work
Yeah, I’ve started leaving at least one portal nearby if I relocate
I’d rather gather enough materials to make a second portal in my new base than go through the shlep of walking/sailing the whole way back 🙈
what is that
You remember the thing that brought you to Valheim?
Imagine that but….
Messed up.
b-but.... dont we all carry 2cores, 20fine and 10eyes in our kit at all times?
annoying flying bitch that does 5 different damage types
BRO do the greydwarves have a 300 meter detection radius?? i'm like well into the plains, building with like 50 campfires in the nearby blackforest, and they somehow still went around my base to find me....
you touched their trees/rocks!
they evaded deathsquito lox and fuling and traveled the lands just to fucking annoy me for like 3 seconds
I don't understand the greydwarf hate just sneeze in their direction and they'll implode
random waste of time distraction from what i am currently doing, and now some resin and wood in my inventory that i have to deal with.
You have to sneeze 5 times a minute, that's the most annoying
press V
and leave a mess around my base
yeah
is that new?
wat?
you clean it up when you're done and drop it in the proper chests, and yes that's a new enemy in the ashlands, all phys types + fire/poison
asksvin butted me into lava how fun
You don’t have to 😂
Just when you are actively planning on relocating an outpost or something like that
and I have no weapons or basalt bombs
lol, i do...always. If i had a teleporter for every time i went way too far and forgot that I didnt have a teleporter... i'd have died a lot less. So it goes in my primary go-bag now, along with food.
Man, I wish I could hit a hotkey and pull portal mats into my inventory automatically, I always forget to bring them
Hmm, I wonder...
theres a mod for that, for sure
Now I have to go look for one lol
i dont like any of the auto-load/trash mods though, so i just pack a specific bag that I check a lot #screenshots message gobag #1
This hurts my brain 😂
Why are you in the Ashlands without weapons?!? 🤣🤭
Put all things mod related in the #mods-discussion or #mods-screenshots channels pls 🙏
because I died with them on me, in the middle of a lava lake
managed to snag a frost staff from a display at home, made that work so I could grab some powder for more basalt bombs
Ah.
I see.
So Asksvin push was prior to losing weapons
What do you mean when you say "bag"?
lol, this is verboten topic
when valheim on ps5
in another channel maybe? Or dms?
yeah, asksvin push led to losing weapons
does fire resistance mead do anything with lava
when valheim on mobile
nope
thats a big ol fucking silly right there
uh, you might die .0002% slower
even if it did, it wouldnt do much, you have like 250 max hp, and even with a fire resist mead walking into lava would surely kill you
why is lava like the most dangerous thing in this game, compared to fighting godlike creatures....
Realism
hi sildar
It’s fire resistance - not resistance to taking a dip in molten magma
are the dragons realistic 🧐
Why cant we plant ashpuffs
Hey 👋🥳
We can plant Yotun Puffs, so why not ashpuffs?
Why can’t we plant mushroom?
when valheim on firestick tv
what are you doing bruh
asking the real questions
Working 😂
🤫

Exactly
we can plant the mistshrooms
But not the mushroom 🍄
Same logic for berrybushes 😭
i might be fine with how lava is if there was like any way to actually dampen the effect, flametal armour lets you stand in it for what a second? maybe a whole 1.5 seconds.
Yeah this isn’t minecraft
Lava would consume you real quick if you fell in it by mistake
Magic flametal gear only dampens the effect ever so slightly
why does it have to be the only unconquerable foe 😾
i can run as fast as a speeding bullet, plummet from however high i want and only take 100 damage, go days without sleeping, get hit by yagluths meteors, fight gods and armies...but not the dreaded lava...
Swamp - endless rain
Mountains - freezing
Mistlands - mist
Ashlands - lava
Honourable mentions:
ocean - thunderstorms
Plains…… deathsquitos 🤣
i have a meme about deathsquitos somewhere
if lava is realistically supposed to melt you instantly then yagluths meteors should obliterate you to a fine red paste..
the logic does not coorelate for many reasons
also the fact that we can stand close to it without dying
good, after all the crazy supernatural shit our magical undead viking has endured its only right they can atleast manage that
i support adding proximity heat to Valheim. standing too close to lava will make you combust without fire resistance
LoL! 😂🤭
i also want the deep north to be the more than just the mountains but flatter. i want blizzards that can kill you from the cold even with an insulating cape, snowdrifts that act like tar, beasts wandering the wasteland that could track you for miles, and caves being shelters to more than just yourself
I mean we already have something kinda like that, but not such a big radius
OK have to pop off now - cherio fellow vikings!
SKAL!

bye bye
Afaik it grows in every Northern country, we have them in Finland too.
And they usually grow in swampier areas IRL.
Does a tamed lox get aggressive with untamed loxes?
bruhh its so ridiculous the stupid shit people say about the valkyrie that drops you off 🤣
i think asmongold said it was odin...and i just saw someone call it hugin..
would you even actually fall into lava? I thought it was too thick to actually immediately fall into so you'd kind of burn on top of it
you mean in real life?
yea, if we're talking realism :V
No, same species don't attack each other, tamed or not.
Assuming you dont roast yourself by being close to it in the first place, or suffocate, I read something funny about it once. The water in your body would evaporate so quickly that your flesh would essentially "explode" on point of contact. Otherwise you wouldnt sink in much
Cuz lava is dense. Much more so than you.
why is there no snapping with planting crops
So you have to actually care about where you plant them 🙂
well yeah but i wish they could atleast snap off of eachother
Why? Its already so easy to space them 🤷♂️
wdym
Once you plant anything like 2-3 times you should be able to tell pretty precisely where there is enough space to plant another crop
...well yeah i know exactly where...but i don't want to have to be meticulous, i'm trying to be efficient with this stuff..
Planting efficiently is also quite easy, you make one line by just going sideways using "walk" and click at certain interval, preferably one that maximizes the ammount you can plant, do not move your mouse during that or after, then just use wsad to possition a bit backwards to a distance for another line of crops and repete. Now you are making evenly spaced lines of crops 🙂
there are mods that give you more crop placement options
Bleh, mods...
some of them are good, like the one that actually lets me plant mushrooms and berry bushes :V
i am almost entirely against mods....but once theres no more content being added to valheim i won't feel so guilty....if i don't see armour slots or bears by 1.0 then i am going to see them with mods 😤
why would adding mods while it's still in development make you feel guilty
i didn't say guilty now did i
i did...i'm tired...
🗣️
wrong word to use, basically i do not want to.
This game should feature tameable dinosaur raptor that can be mounted and allow us to fight using ranged weapons or spears.
I think it would be metal.
The what?
ak-47s too of course right?
I feel there was this convo before xD
Morgen gjall.
FTFY: I think it would be mental.
Why?
this is not ark survival evolved
Dinosaurs in a viking game they are like a few million years apart.
we have askvin anyways
Can you tell me when did goblins, trolls, and gjall existed in history?
there is some level of disconnect occuring
and where the dinosaurs at in the lord of the rings, thematic difference.
No im just kind of annoyed at someone telling me it doesnt make sense because they didnt exist in the same era when we have so much fantasy stuff going on already.
Folklore around the viking days.
There was no dinosaur folklore in those days.
most fantasy stuff does not come from the same era that dinosaurs do
FINE, tameable dragons then.
even anything coming from like old pagan or biblical stories are within the range of tens of thousands of years compared to the millions of years basically
probably not dragons, askvins are like dinosaurs anyways.
Yeah ill be honest I havent got to the ashlands yet so I dont know what to expect.
You'll need mods for a flyable mount if you want that, it won't be coming to the vanilla game.
why you discussing what the game should have then man 😭...i just spoiled something for you, finish it and then talk about what you think should be added..🎃
I mean Im almost there. I just need to kill a big bug and at the rate im not trying, its going to take a while
use magic to do easier faster gooder stuff with that horrible boss
I tried and quickly got tired
well thats the least tiresome method
Good morning Valheim
bruh starred fenrings are kinda scary
holy fuck i just found a spawner in ashlands with like 6x 2 star mobs nearby it, including warlock. thank god for trollstav
Look carefully around there 😉
there was just some building nearby with 4x cores
There should be something in the middle of those 🙂 disregard this
oh wait, theres a place to enter :O
Ooooh, its that one 😄 have fun
Poor lord Reto 😄
tmi 🤭
lmao
You bullied him with leaves? 😂
I dropped trolls on him before the dev’s patched it 🤭
Mages are just so OP 🥰
yea because of wild staff and trollstav
In the power of nature!
i wish embers and frost staff was a bit stronger
I like were embers staff is the frost could use a tune up.
Ember is quite strong as it is now.
aight i guess its just relatively weak in ashlands
Yeah with the AOE but frost staff is still your best pick for single target damage but it is still underwhelming damage compared to melee but at least it slows down enemies so it's fine
ya i also play melee and comparatively the dmg is rly low..
Correct the staffs in ashland do surpass it but that is normal.
Still a good staff to start the ashlands with.
as i said only thing that makes mage as good as melee, is the summoning stuff such as trollstav and wild staff
It is a staff from previous biome and it is FIRE staff 😄
yep
mistwalker is also a prev biome weap tho and id say it does better than the staffs
but ya its a fire staff
in a fire resistant biome
Silver sword does more damage to charred and has a lower stamina cost
ya i like the slow tho
but anyway i wasnt saying it's the best prev biome melee weap or anything like that. just said the excuse for embers staff being a prev biome weap isnt enough
Each stave has it’s uses
Embers for Big Bang
Frost for trickle damage and training elemental magic
Skellie skull = less useful Trollstav substitute 🤭
Bubble shield - your best friend 🫧
Dundr - shotgun for getting things out of your face 😂
Wild stick - more slapstick comedy 🎭
Fractured twig - throws lava blobs (try and get them all in one place)
Trolstave - angry frenemy
havent tried dundr actually
Parry a morgen then use dundr
oh right u can parry with staffs
You’ll need a staff of protection bubble or you probably won’t have enough health. With the bubble you take 0 stagger so you can parry any blockable attack
aight
Just make sure you aren’t immediately hit by something else as it could break your bubble
That’s just an opportunity for more skill
Fracturing might be underwhelming in fire biome but might probably shine more in Deep North.
It has quite good single target damage against larger enemies. Against groups not so good.
Ah yes... A swamp that doesn't have a dungeon
New to the game, had a couple weeks playing with some friends. We've gone from Meadows to Mistlands and died every step of the way. 🙂 Grateful for the game, it's super good. And even more grateful considering the price point. And even still more grateful that I own the game and the data for our world, rather than having it held ransom 🙂
Only one major flaw: Can't pet Hugin. Unacceptable.
Valid reason
lmfao sailing between 1 ashland island to the next is hilariously difficult
and with the slow drakkar boat
i dont even know if its reasonably possible actually
Luckily there are spires in the water that you can crash your boat against, set up a repair shop and fix the boat if needed, you can also fight your enemies from those spires and not have them damage your boat.
its the spires that are annoying
Absolutely but not really dangerous.
ya i didnt say dangerous
just they are so much in the way that it's near impossible with this fat boat
and add to that the annoying waves
Yeah, you really need to find those narrow passages or do some terraforming.
60% of my deaths are from the swamp getting ganked by an abomination and dreugr
Death 7
best weapon to upgrade to once i get silver?
also is it worth keeping the root harnesk for the plains on top of like wolf armor or do i get the full wolf armor
Guys never give up when you are in the ashlands
Frostner. Without doubt for me.
Draugr Fang is also a "must craft" for me.
I keep it all the way untill misstalandis
so keep the harnesk and the rest upgrade to wolf?
Might as well upgrade parts to the Fenris and use that for the speed bonus.
Hell yeah 👍
The seekers do pierce I think
nah go silver chest. theres too many fire fulings in plains, attacking camps will be a pain
yeah thats the problem but also deathsquitos catch you off guard lol
mosquitos are fine if u have upgraded silver gear
and ya frostner + fang spear is rly good
frostner if you're getting ganged up on, fang spear otherwise
i like the waraxe due to the huge block power but yeah it consumes lots of stamina
might have to change up
ah i dont play 2h (except atgeir). shield too op
yeah but parry with waraxe is also op only problem is its slow
- Crafting skill no longer provides bonus yield on armour and weapons" :(((((((
Huh?
Is frostner any good? I know it's the best weapon against bonemass
ya id say its the best weap in the game
you can even use it in ashlands
It is in Public Test branch, comes live later when tested enough. After it comes live you cannot get bonus yields of armor and weapons anymore.
not a huge impact for solo players tbh
One of the best, very usable during 3 biomes after Mountain.
What's your Vikings name
puck
True but the mistwalker takes over in there 🙂
ya
is there a dev command for gathering items dropped nearby?
Removedrops
It's a better option for offence, but Frostner works better as defensive/crowd control option than Mistwalker.
That removes, doesn't gather.
Nope, you can get rid of them with removedrops as Derek states but gathering is like you normally would.
Oh, I misread that, yeah, it'll just delete them.
So what's the point of crafting skill then
"crafting speed, hammer wear, and stamina use"
Mind that the crafting yield change only affects armor pieces and weapons not being duplicated anymore
Stuff like arrows should still give bonus yields when triggered
I've never had stamina issues when building or crafting. Seems moot
I resent archery :/
:c
i run out of stamina sometimes when destroying stuff but ya seems pretty useless
I thought I read somewhere that crafting skill also allow to repair multiple building pieces somewhere
imo it should be something like "chance to increase crafted item's stats by 5%"
none of these "feel" good though
also what are the odds of us ever getting a "cook all" button
would be nice
Also after the update it means it's impossible to get level 100 on cooking right
Suggestion server, seems like a good idea tbh
just be thankful they didnt do something dumb with the new skills, like "to craft mistwalker you require lvl 60 crafting"
1000% this was suggested dozens of times already
the death penalty keeps getting worse with more and more non-combat skills being added too
ugh ya holy shit that would suck
Let me make it worst, need a certain weapon skill to use certain weapon
Like need lvl 60 on sword to use mistwalker
this is funny. I do professional B2B software development, and if our customers were talking about our software like this, we'd probably get fired
Mistwalker is iron tho, not mithril
yeah I would quit valheim tbh
this is standard gamer talk. gamers been complaining about the games they play since 1990
yeah it still shows the difference between the two types of software
does the summoned troll aggro dverg on me?
What is ur favorite weapon to use :3c
give me a weapon and I will fight with it.
I like swords or maces depending on the situation
Bows before Mistlands, then crossbows and magic after~
no close combat?
Some, usually knives~
I only use a bow for drakes, gjalls and fuling shamans
yay W
many people are so dependant on their bow, the game would be over for them if they ever added an enemy you can't just shoot
I believe more trolls have been killed with crude bows than with all other meadow weapons combined
why does dundr need blood gem makes no sense
Tier lock to the fortressses
An iolite would be more appropriate
I think the question was more about why blood stone specificaly 🙂
Iolite is more rare right
no
They're all the same
Must just be luck then from the footage I’ve seen bloodstone seems most common
That's because it's random
Right
all stones have the same chance of appearing, but after that its pure RNG
lmao its so funny to drop trolls into fortresses and then afterwards just basically collecting loot
Knives, bows and magic and I do like to dabble with the berserker axes and root bow.
Indeed, build stairs high enough and throw trolls and vines in there.
i found you can just summon trolls from outside
you have to aim at the inner corner of the pillars at the top of the walls
and they land inside
True but you can't get vines in that way.
ya its all good tho, 2 trolls just clear :D
Unless there is a 2 star warlock there then it takes a couple more.
ya
They are devastating.
Morgen gjall
whats the best weapon type for newbies?
swords
no, clubs
lol the fader fight is completely pathetic with the trollstav, just keep summoning trolls and watch from a distance lol...
so its either club or sword
Whatever the player is most comfortable using is best
Guys, now with the new patch, with no extra yeilds for weapons, does it upgrade the armor/weapon instead?
#valheim-public-test for public test questions
||There's no upgrade. Equipment is not affected by luck now||
Mb I didn’t know, but ty!
club and get flint spear asap
you can even upgrade those and use them in swamp
(another biome with higher difficulty)
thanks
use club against skeletons and spear against other stuff
what!? spoiler 😭
is there a way to increase inventory space?
No
Nope, but you can increase how much weight you can carry 🙂
how about weight
Inventory weight capacity yes, but not inventory slots
You need to find trader in black forest 🙂
ahhhh
curious do they plan to fix the inventory issues like adding armor slots and utility slots for items like the meging jord
No armor slots isn't an issue
hm
They dont need to fix anything since there is nothing to fix 🙂
but do they plan to do anything with the inventory system or just keep it as it is till a better idea comes around
The developers haven't said anything about making changes to the inventory
Every weapon has it ups and downs I would try them all at least for a while and find what you are comfortable with.
Clubs are good overall and shine in the swamp.
Knives are fast and have a lunge attack (also do 6*backstab damage).
Swords are universally good.
Axes double as tool for woodcutting.
spears are a fast jab and can be thrown (you can lose your spear though).
Atgeirs have a wide range and are master in crowd control.
Bows are good for ranged and hunting.
armor slots would be nice
What's wrong with slots that can hold anything and allow the player to organise the inventory the way they want to?
i just want that 3 extra space ive had my moments where i have to do 2 trips or drop other resources just to take that one resource
We've all been there. I learned to do dedicated trips and not carry anything I'm not going to use.
not me carrying 3 antler pickaxes in the swamp
I believe smiffe said that they could remove the number of slots needed for armor and the extra item (belt, wisplight,...) from the main inventory and put them separately if we would really like that 🙂 and they could only hold those specific items. Imo the way it is now works way better
I never carry my hoe, pickaxe, axe all at the same time.
The inventory would be uneven though! Can't have that
I do too, and still no problems with inventory
not me carrying 3 damn antler pickaxes
in the swamp
i never carry a hoe unless im clearing some land for a building
Carry one pic and 12-14 wood for infinite repairs
hoe, axe, hammer and pickaxe always come with when traveling, no buts
You dont need to carry them in there all the time, just when you go mining
I find a crypt, set a portal and a chest up at the front, go back to base, grab the pickaxes, drop the 2 extra in the chest and go grave robbing.
i did change and just take 2 instead of 3
You do you, i also take 3 to swamps
What’s the hoe for? How often do you run into emergency ground raising situations
the hoe i always have on hand no matter what
Don't forget the stone you would need to carry with you to do that.
I take one, it will be enough to get enough iron for an iron pickaxe and then you can just leave that antler pickaxe somewhere to make sure you never waste any more time with it
its more about having a quick access to flat ground for building
If I find a spot I want to build at, I put a portal down and I'll go and get the hoe then.
But wouldn’t you only need that in base? Quick workbenches and portals don’t need ground flattening
i often build a quick little hut and prefer it to be on flat ground. sure, sometime i might not actually need to, but i want to
Interesting
all my portals across the world get their little hut
I wish I wasn’t too lazy to do that, most of my portals go onto rocks or in trees
Efficient*
imagine if you set the portal high up
i usually build a larger hub per land mass thats somewhat worth connecting and put all portals of said continent in there, then connect it to the main hub on my home continent
I have either a portal chain, means 2 portals at a location, one coming in and the other going out to the next portal in the chain, I only spent a short amount of time there, to just grab resources and be out again, so those portals don't need any protection.
Other portals are at bases and they get a room, a portal hub so to speak.
Most of the time I have 2 portal hubs, one remotely that contains portals to in frequently visited places, like abandoned forward bases and boss spots.
I'll also have a portal hub at main base that contains the portals I frequently use, the resource chains, the farming bases, the exploring portal, ...
@merry pebble the seed you gave me is absolutely goated tbh
Glad it is good 😄
Tell us more about Asatru's seed. ;p
ok i gotta ask

what is up with the flowers?
Long story short: At the start of spring a developer went nuts.
was it smiffe?
Hardly nuts. People asked, he delivered.
going east you find haldor and a small patch of swamp with a geyser possibly good base since it is very open with alot of abandon villages nearby for resources and maybe one or two queen bees
going west of the sea youll find a big swamp which is where i am currently at gathering iron scraps
going northwest'ish you find the elder with 2 draugr villages
How did you guess.
haldor is a bit far
cause its somehow always smiffe
but is the closest haldor
besides, look at smiffes status
Spitting facts.
i killed my first serpent
did you lure it to land to get all the good loot?
See gjall tomorrow I'm going home, make pita, household, put kids to bed and play fortnite, project diablo 2 and potter around in Valheim a bit.
Yep, i did
nice
i got serpent scales and meat, what does that do
the scales can be crafted into a shield and the meat cooked on a hook, gives a decent bonus
the big catch is the trophy tho if you can get it
The serpent scale shield is a tower shield with faster movespeed than most others, and has a pierce resistance
the serpent appeared on a storm, literally was fighting for my life
it felt so cinematic like god damn
The meat can also made into a stew later on.
ah yes serpent stew
Ah, so you requested red flowers around your name?
is an iron sword level 1 better than a level 3 bronze sword?
Yes
Like Evo says yes, only lvl 4 might be on par with iron lvl 1.
My sister kinda died and then we closed our games forcefully hoping it wont save her death (cus it was a really fucking dumb death) but then it didnt save the world and me but her pc saved her death and now theres no grave and shes lost all our items.
any way we can get the crucial items back?
the console doesnt do anything for some reason, just ignoring the command
Do you have "-console" enabled on properties on Steam?
Did you turn on the console? You need to enable the console before you start the game. Once that is done you can go in the game and open the console.
F5 and type devcommands first
i didnt do the devcommands part
my deaths arent saved if i forcefully end task, why did her client save her death anyway
if i get the items back ill still be able to save my game, right? no anti-cheating thing here, right???
(a lot of games have that so then you cant even fix stuff)
You can still save your game.
Using console commands adds "Cheater" tag when you type /stats but that doesn't matter.
its ignoring devcommands
I saw new patchnotes, feathers cape changes should be there if not I declare war
aaaand game just crashed
Wait are there any good recipes with fish?
Yes.
Cooked fish is required to Fish Wraps. Anglerfish is required to Fish 'n' Bread.
Yes, a really good feast that can be unlocked as soon as you have iron and later on a wrap that is pretty good but needs a lot of fish
