I usually build a big storage for the usuall stuff (stone, wood, leather, ...) and create a shelf using the smallest 1m horizontal logs and 2x2 floors. You can put 2 small chests on one floor. Stacking in height you can go 4 levels up and put signs everywehre 😄

Anyone have any tips on getting around fast in mistlands? It was the last biom I found in my 1st world and I don't know much about it. I know all about the yggdrasil wood and the magic but I just need a way to move since there's so many roots and cliffs and big puddles.

Getting the feather cape will help immensely with that, going light armor or mage armor will help as well.

I'm not sure what I can offer as advice... The developers really did make it hard to navigate but the challenge is climbing high enough to glide with a feather cape

@chrome wing Carry a portal with you at all time, leave it at point of interest or use it to go back to base to get rest/empty inventory. Stick to the dirt when moving around, avoid going up on rock formations, the points of interest spawn on the dirt anyway and you can hear/find points of interests from the mob spawning around it.

Get all the ingredients at least once, I'm guessing you are missing a surtling core which can be found in the burial mounds in the black forest.
You also need fine wood and greydwarf eyes.

Exploring burial chambers for surtling cores, use them to smelt copper and tin to make bronze, using the bronze to make a bronze axe and using that axe to get fine wood from birchs or oaks.

For farming I always just press the walk button and go side to side without moving my mouse and just plant consistently, always make perfect row and spacing, just need to keep an eye on stamina

Last couple of time when entering the ashlands it would have been overly complicated and long to bring copper and iron. So I just landed somewhere, quickly built a portal then ran like 300 meter further and placed another one. That way even if one burns down I'd still have the other. Got back to base, grabbed another portal and went searching for putrid holes, didn't take long to find one, got more than enough core for a stone portal and from there you can just easily bring in whatever you need.

i just put 7 iron/5 copper in my drakkar when i sailed in. but whatever works

i also think regular portals placed in the entrance to a putrid hole are pretty safe from normal environmental dangers, and you wouldn't worry about them burning down at least. (mobs are still a factor of course)

Reason why I went that far to place another one is so the first ones would never be in render range, so they wouldn't be at risk of getting destroyed. I never used them again but I am sure, despite exploring the ashlands around for hours, that they are still there

Well the only weapon you really need in Mistlands is ooze bombs. And fenris armor works fine all the way into Ashlands if you're decent at dodging.
You're not gonna get very far into Mistlands without a BM axe and enough BM to make a sap extractor and eitr refinery though.

depends how long you're afking, but it's luck really

the spawn mechanics would potentially save you though. ie, they spawn at a certain distance, with a certain chance. and they don't really roam. so if you're afk, you're not making noise, and they are probably far enough away that they won't see you

A spawn position is randomly selected between 40 - 80 meters of a random player in the zone.

also, even for greydwarfs at night, there can only be 6 spawns in the 64x64 around you. if they have already spawned, and you don't move, and they don't roam..

i wouldn't afk however unless you are completely safe 🙂 cleared burial chambers are good places to afk.

If you have to be out for triple the time, use triple the food, then you have to go get more ingredients, which in itself takes triple the time

Dundr is one of my favorite magic toys. It can deal devastating damage against bigger targets, especially those weak against lightning (||like Morgen||) and the knockback is huge.

since the mines have doors to rooms often that aren't very obvious

like doors of stone that slide up when you press "E", but otherwise pretty smooth, so best to kind of pass over walls that look like could be door opening and sweep over with cursor looking for the interaction UI to pop up if it is a door

In Ashlands PTB the Fracturing Staff actually increased the Elemental Magic skill levels rapidly - I was able to raise my skill lvl to 100 until the xp gain per hit was nerfed.

I read from people that during the Ashlands PTB, the staff of fracturing was good and an upgrade to the staff of embers, and that somewhere along the lines it got like (maybe intentionally, maybe unintentionally) nerfed. Now I forget it even exists I literally never use it. I wonder if it was meant to be better 🤔

It is quite good. Not against multiple targets at the same time but against single targets that can take all those hits.

Made it, Long live the Queen..... The big Hammer was really nice and helped a lot against the small Adds... Killed the Seeker and the Queen using Sword + Shield since I played the most part of my time using this combo.

Melee Weapon + Woodcutting Tool in a single slot instead of needing 2 slots.

that's definitely a huge/main advantage--doubling as a tool--one of my buddies favorites is axe for exactly that reason @gray sand

and yes, I use the equipment & quick slots mod that adds like the equivalent of a row of slots (5 designated for armor + accessory, 3 more hotkey slots)

A bit late answer, but yes enemies can enter inside the shield bubble. But the shield protects your structures from weather (falling fires) and projectiles. I recommend creating an earth wall around your base in Ashlands to have a safe space where most enemies can't enter, except the flying ones.
