As long as the stats are there why does the level matter?
umm.. higher durability with next level?
You can get a flametal weapon to level 3 for increased durability if you don’t use gems
🤷🏼♀️ the stats are better than older stuff so the level doesn’t much matter imho. Most likely we will get a piece that will upgrade old stuff and new stuff that’s yet even stronger than this.
Valheim boardgame will probably come out before valheim is out of early access kek
you most likely go home to drop of stuff anyway, so durability is not really an issue
Probably. Board games are far easier to make.
ye, unless your weapon and tool are the same item you rarely get even close to breaking it
aren't you in mistlands?
i am yeah
lul...
how tf you make it to mistlands and never make bronze? 😮
i forgot how to 😭
2x copper, one tin
its been like 2 weeks since i made bronze
I see
There are a ton of recipes to remember. Far too many to remember.
you can always check your crafting stations
Yep. Some times I have to read through them 2 or 3 times to spot what I want.
I am watching this video of this person building their underground Ashlands base. I need to use dev commands for building. Sooooooo much easier.
There is a wiki about them.
can u link me that ?
nobuildcost has kept me playing tbh
I have done some massive builds. I should have used the commands.
oh yeah this, i been looking at it but i havent found anything that helps with underground building?
the roof being the biggest issue
nobuildcost helps with any building. For a roof they used one of the massive Ashlands rocks.
ah ok ok
My only wish is that they separated the crafting from that
It's VERY tempting to plop down crafting tables
Thats the real reason I haven't used them. Temptation.
Trying not to cheat the current tables
but cutter, forge, etc, for building we've been going ham
Once I finish this game with no deaths, then I will use the cheats and mods, etc...
A pretty cool base. I would make a number of different choices on the interior design, but its nice. Now I have to find who did the Ashlands song they use at the end of the video.
Dang. Its AI generated. Explains the odd wording.
gotta find a big enuff rock for an ug base
is ashlands mandatory to build a base into ?
i mean, no biome is mandatory to builda base on
Dvergr's must die
well i was told plains/mistland cuz farming
yea farming dont require a entire base, though farming in ashlands may need more than a normal farming outpost
am considering if i should waste my time once more and go build under elder altar for a final base, then use the others for farming
I'd say it's honestly not worth it to build an ashlands farm. I mean if you just want to, sure. But you get more than enough herbs just running around
fenris set plus askvin cloak, jesssssus
Viking to zoomzoom
ive spent so much time just learning simple building id yeah love NOT to build anymore
at most the underground spot
Ha, you're probably good at it by now though so those structures should be practically building themselves!
I just do a little fence around my Plains farm with a tiny building for the portal
In mistlands i find a good Dvergr structure and put the portal in there then level outside of it for the farm
have infested mines changed?
In ashlands just fine a ruin with a ton of vineberry, place portal in it and pick up all herbs as you go. You're very unlikely to run out of any
all im finding are ruined dverger strongholds
Ashlands new patch🫶🏼
anyone running around in the swamps ?
Nah
even at mistlands, i still hate the swamps
I find swamps kinda pretty when you remove the forced rain and atmospheric effects
Swamps combat is great but the grind is too much
There should be a way to rid a part of a biome from these forced effects, just like I wish we could remove mist from mistlands in more powerful ways than spamming wisp torches
Maybe shield generator should push the mist away?
The problem with that is that the shield generator itself is very visible
itchy hole!
I feel like there should be some sort of "clear air" or "clear atmosphere" emitter that would clear the mist
Carbon scrubbers?
Any asksvin breeder designs out there?
Wisp lights do that.
also wisp torches 🙂
I know, wisp lights and wisp torches do that, I just find the effect radius to be too small. Of course, it should be small for these items as they are quite cheap ; but I wish we had a more expensive, perhaps late-game item that had that effect in a more powerful way.
Similar to how we finally got portals that let you warp with restricted items.
I'd personally like to see a 25% increase to wisp light coverage. I feel they are slightly underpowered atm
Also, littering an area with wisp torches is still limited as it simply adds up a lot of small spheres and doesn't even clear mist all the way up to the sky
Wisp fountains could keep wisps spawned at night to have them move around a further distance from the fountain at day, clearing most mist in a large area around them. Wisp torches would remain suitable for exploration because of the cost of wisp fountains and because the fountains only attract new wisps at night
Yeah for me it should 100% be a base structure / element that would require something such as a stonecutter or black forge at least
died in crypt
honestly, I find it really annoying to play mistlands without the Better_Wisps mod.
It basically makes it so you can spend ~120 silver total and a few dozen more wisps to double the radius (+20% per level, 5 levels)
idk, I find it really unfun only being able to see like swinging distance in front of your face (exaggerating)
even at doubled radius you still have severly restricted vision VS normal.
did they nerf ashlands spawn rates? i see ppl talking about it on reddit, but i couldnt find any patchnotes for it
in ptb version they did, patch is from today
i hope they push it to main soon, i got burnt out of ashlands fast just because of how exhausting it is not having any downtime to actually gather resources or explore
and there isnt much terrain you can use to break sightlines unlike other biomes
Dvergr's need to die
What did they do?
They pointed a weapon at me and gave me a funny look
Can you feed the pet skellies?
nope
if i jsut realized i've been playing on public beta this entire time... Can i switch it back to the normal game and everything remains saved?
I tried that. World saved, but not the character.
No.
Does anyone use the equipment and quick slots mod? And if so, when u die with armor in the quick slots, do you lose those items when you collect the tombstone?
No
Odin i bessech thee. Giveth a 9 and 0 slot unto us that we may use it to slay our enemies
mistlands is misty
Yeah, I don't like the visibility of mistlands... didn't realize how much I depended on long-distance sighting until I couldn't do it...
You might be able with mods and save it then when its released on normal see if some mods can use the buildings and stuff. allowing you to place and save building if i am not mistaken.
If you want, you can always switch and then spawn console command everything you need, even skill level.
Might take some time.
You cannot exactly transfer progress, but there are ways you can help yourself.
Feel free to ask more help. Dont listen to Derek 🙂
Anyone got a vanilla server I could join? I'm getting bored playing the game alone lol
I just got killed by a tree
do skellies from dead raise remain after you portal and travel around or do they despawn?
they despawn in most cases. very occasionally ive seen one persist after traveling thru a portal. no idea why though
I must have wasted hours over my valheim career from the intern not fixing the grave looting situation with high weight / not stacking
So, I know swamps traditionally have mosquitos... but this makes me want to cry. My Bonemass spawn is in the middle of a 200 unit wide swamp biome that form the coast of a large -plains biome, Bonemass is less than 100 units away the plains biome edge
how am I even meant to get there?
the first swamp I found was that patch to the north, I was able to land in the meadows biome below it and venture in with my ship safe from leaches
then the first marker I fond said bonemass was to the south of me so I started venturing sound and discovered that the plains biome was super close so I built a walled road down the coast
at least there's multiple spawns 😅
but then the Lox busted down the walls and started camping the road
can't the mosquitos kill bonemass for you
I mean... probably, honestly
they can two shot me if I stack the best food and armor I can get right now
ugg, my other bonemass options are super far away...
but I supose it would be worth it for a clean fight
are there any known tips for trying to land a boat in a swamp with out getting rekt by leaches?
worst case let them destroy the boat and then kill them and get the mats and rebuild the boat
I suppose that would work the first time but I'm more interested if there is a method to build a safe dock there
Try to find a neighbor meadows or black forest and build a small fob there
sigh yeah, that's my current method but my other bone mass spawns seem to be isolated swamp islands
Can you make portals?
Find a big fallen tree near coast, land the boat, build a portal on the tree up off the ground. Trash the boat and pick up the nails
Put mats back at base and come back and kill the blob
Nails can go through portal 🙂
Leeches won't usually attack the boat in my experience if you're not on it. sail up to a bit of land in swamp and hop off quick. Finish off the leeches and then build your dock.
does anyone have a spreadsheet showing all the armor types and what materials you need?
hmm, I haven't really played if two years but they destroyed a few ships I had sitting previously
but mabey that changed?
thank you!
You could use the plains to help you kill bonemass. Have the lox fight bonemass
Only tamed lox will fight bonemass*
Ah, is that the case with all bosses then? Other biomes wont fight them?
Does anyone know the item id for the green light beam that is atop the fortresses?
Green light comes from the chest with the bell fragments. Don't know the id though
found it, thx
Ye only tames will fight bosses
Fulings will not fight bonemass, draugr will not fight the elder etc
scoured an entire mountain and so far only found 2 dragon egg nests and 1 frost cave
0 boss marker
find a bigger mountain
Silver is one of the fastest ore grinds, it'll be aight
what do i need to farm/breed through to ashlands?
anything from plains i need to keep farming? mistlands?
also ran out of iron
😭
I don’t remember many of the recipes, but if you want to go mage there’s definitely some mistlands sap used in some Ashlands recipes, so good to stock up on
Running out of iron is an all time classic I feel ya there @fluid cove
so ill probably need a permanent mistlands base and will i need to keep my plains stuff for barely/flour?
i guess barley wine fire resist is still useful into ashlands?
kinda wish there was an easier way to farm iron post swamps ngl
its all dark, wet, and full of icky stuff just to get some iron out
There kinda is? with mistlands aquaducts or w/e but ye i feel ya
on top of swamps having very finite resources in the already limited crypts
Can always bump up resource rate multiplier too when you're in the swamps too ig
Yes, but not nearly as much as you’d think. Not needed at all but can be nice
looks like a few of the endgame recipes still use barley flour
wolf skewer, eyescream, sausage
Wolf skewer, eyescream, and onion soup, honorable mention goes to serpent stew if you have it
or wolf skewer, eyescream, onion soup if you wans HSS
picked up plenty of entrails from the last dungeon diving
Serpent stew, cooked serpent meat, and sausages honestly hits the spot for crypt exploration in swamp
(can't believe these vikings found super questionable entrails in caves and was like "hey this'll make a great sausage casing")
man i really need a cultist trophy 😔
I know vineberry can grow in meadows but I dunno about the other 2 herbs, fiddlehead and whatever the other one is are abundant so I never saw any need to make a farm
You can't farm fiddleheads or smoke puffs
so nothing actually needs to be in ashlands to grow? only mistlands/plains base needed for endgame farming/breeding?
Yes
is there any reason for a permanent ashlands base
None come to mind
thanks for the info
Legit zero reason to setup shop in Ashlands - I’d only do it if I loved the lava
And I don’t 😂
im guessing its better to just move whatever animals need to be tamed from there, out of there
You might set one up when arriving there so you can run back to it when being chased by mobs and whatnot, but that’s about it.
I like the ocean stacks in the Ashlands sea though, so I’d be tempted to make a base there
They lay eggs so you could breed em and just portal the eggs to your main base.
oh thats way easier
cleared 6 caves so far no cultist trophies yet 😦
Cultist trophies are hit and miss
Friend and i looked for about a week without finding anything
Then I go play solo and find 3 trophies in an hour
wanna give one to me? lol
are there things in ashlands that cant be teleported? should i make my plains/mistlands endgame base near ashlands for boating stuff back or can i just visit it via portal
ah so no need to actually move from ashlands and back via boat
so really i should build my mistlands/plains base to the east/west instead of south, where the largest sections of mistlands are
i was going south with the expectation i would use the base as a staging area for ashlands
My friend complains how we cant hit enemies towards upward position. Like wolves if they are above us. Hmm. He is very annoyed. I dont have so much a problem, i use different weapons. I got much better armor anyway. Also I tend to use the mountain style fang or spear or whatever. We are at mountain tier, with some progress to plains
Complains that the engine doesnt support upward strikes. hmm
which is true, and the mountains are kinda notorious for this due to their verticality. i doubt it will change any time soon, and the solution is move to an area that ensures the enemies have time/positioning to be on your same Z-level
@surreal bridge can you get this guy banned woodro
i.e. if a wolf is on a slope above you, try to move sideways and back to pull it down and force it to chase you laterally
I was thinking maybe straight secondary attack might help with some weapons
For example leeches are hard to hit with some weapons, but easy with others
ehh, it can, but that takes a lot of stamina and kinda locks you into that orientation until it finishes
Hmm perhaps i just somehow have figured a way to better move out of those situationss, since i dont really die from that anymore.... jump a bit then fight. or run away or something
do the ashlands tamed animals destroy buildings like lox do?
Yea, if there are enemies nearby
So I started playing again. Setting up my mountain base. Anyone else have an issue where weird tiny white pixels of snow or something seem to come through the stone roofs? Well, stone floor blocks that can also be used as roofs. Didn’t used to happen. I had to put wood roofing over the stone to stop this from happening.
any suggestions for world modifiers? is there a way to increase both the damage you deal and the number of enemy spawns as well as enemy damage?
yes there is. increase dmg is the combat setting, for the spawn rate there is no setting for it but there is for a raid
im debating what kind of settings i want to make for a new world
go with hard
i want combat to be faster paced and higher skill without being grindy
i also want higher resource yields since thats annoying to deal with
well in the mortifier have it
i wish there was an option for crafting stations to still cost resources but things like raw stone/wood structures to not
there only resource rate setting
i see the no build cost, but things like surtling cores/black cores would still be nice to have as a gating item
that way i can go nuts with a build without feeling like i cheesed the crafting
since gathering wood/stone is basically a 0-risk endeavor that is only grindy
or u can just play with no build cost i guess
yeah but no build cost is for crafting stations too right
No build cost affects everything you can build, including crops
i.e. if i find any kind of metal or black core i unlock all the crafting stations at that tier without needing to actually get further cores or iron
but u need to find the item for the recipe
yeah but the grind for black cores is kinda defining for mistlands
same with iron for swamps
go with no build cost
sure the weapons that take iron cost the most but still
up the resource rate
does no build cost apply to just things in the "building" category, or all hammer items including crafting stations and their upgrades
everything even crop like blob said
the snow is like rain with floor it will leak. So yes to stop it u have to build roof
That’s a shame, especially considering it wasn’t ever like that in my previous playthroughs.
is hard mode worth it or does it just make things more grindy
it increase the combat to hard and raid to more
i see that on the ui but idk what that means for gameplay beyond obviously more raids
more enemies in the wild? what i dont want is to do less damage/them to have more health since thats just extra grindy
if there were more enemies + more starred enemies and my damage stayed the same id be good with that
i'm enjoying no resource building a whole lot... makes building a cool base feasible
or even my damage goes up/their damage goes up so combat is more about not getting hit/parrying
I like grinding
i don't have patience for going out to a new crypt to mine more iron just to make a brazier, or have to set up forges all around that i need mats for... and then managing the inventory and everything
portal all materials and no build cost is pretty sick
i am leaning towards this but i wish the crafting stations specifically still required their resources
would totally kill the game for me. no portals, no map, and I just haul entire boats of ore back so I don't need to go back again.
i guess the only time that really starts to matter is in mistlands
nope
oh man no portal no map? i couldn't do it
i guess if i had a really long standing save or something
ive done so many big builds im just tired of it...i already know what it takes to hoard the resources to the point you can build those bases naturally, and it doesnt add difficulty it just adds tedium
id rather build my base as i like quickly and get to the combat
moving house ig
yeah i have played through a few times now and i have no desire to spend a long time getting a ton of copper and tin for black forest tier
It's actually super easy. You can use the world tree to navigate, and the sun and moon. I have one primary base and that is it. I hate doing large builds also.
now if i'm playing with other people yeah that can be pretty fun
i love doing large builds, i just hate how long it takes to handle the resources to do them
Also the vegvisir at the spawn circle tells you cardinal directions so you know north and south etc from the start, and boss vegvesirs will turn your camera toward the boss direction.
carts and carts of metal, stone, wood, taking them up one set of 100 at a time, doing some section of the build, going back for the next load
I like a little homestead... smaller house with bed and kitchen, then a detached storage area, then a little workshop with my crafting tables, etc.
i test a little bit about the no map no portal if i find the swamp and plain biome that is near each other I will stay there from early to mid game and move when i go to mistland or ashland
Same here
if you run out you go through some portal to spend 5-10 minutes farming again
i built my house on the circular ancient stone structure in the meadows
same
what ive done is played up to the swamp/mountain with all settings on normal and then i turned on no cost building
Same
in my latest playthrough anyway
i dont even make a new base after meadows until the plains
same
mostly no point really
Early game I place the defensive walls between the stones. Later game I move the walls outside the stones and each stone marks a section of my homestead
dont need huge farming areas, dont need new crafting structures
i dug a pit all around the base, saved me a bunch of times from "the ground is shaking"
although if i want a real endgame base it needs to span from the plains to mistlands
what do you mean
is pit/moat/raised ground really the only good defense? i wanna do walls but they are so inferior to pit/raise grouned
then i can truly get all the endgame resources required all in one spot...even better if its near some roots
i realized raise ground is op way later
i do both
when u get to the ashland u need to build a new base again
i haven't done it honestly because it just looks ugly lol
endgame mead/food recipes require resources that can only be grown in plains and mistlands
yep but it just ugly but it helps
you can dress up the walls
regardless, i built another pit around my plains base 😅
but it's even better resource intensive i bet since you aren't loading a million stone walls
i just go wit wood wall
No lol. I have never used a moat or earth walls. Feels like cheating. I've never had a raid destroy my base. The wooden defensive walls are enough to stall creatures while you eat and run out to murder them.
Not once have I lost to a raid and I am in ashlands
but the security i feel while farming in the plains as all the lox struggle to climb and the fuelings circle me
that why we in valheim for the first place odin want to test us
just those annoying 🦟 but the root armor does fine
root armor is so good even in mistlands
yes
Easily one of the best items
just started using it only for mistlands
i just run around the camp fire the big one
nice strat
the other day in mistlands a ||seeker soldier|| mounted our boat, it was our first mistlands exploration, i lost my 💩
it was a 1 star too
don't forget enemy biome can fight each other i raid 2 goblin village before fight bonemass and man does it ez rn
alright these are the settings:
Hard combat
Normal death penalty
Normal resource rate
More raids
Normal portals
No build cost
yeah that nice
might go very hard combat and manually set the damage to 100% for me and enemies so i just get more starred enemies
and the combat damage is regular
ive just got portals to allow ore transport, in my very first play through with a bunch of friends, we all had to distribute resources and ended up with having to grind so much that we just burnt out
i feel like very hard combat settings without modifying the damage is just removing melee as a viable option all together
i like to see enemy from different biome fight each other
since any parrying will just stagger you and getting hit is instant death
noo
id like to be able to at least fight things in melee
upgrade shield
based on the things im reading even that wont help?
i play on hard mode rn man
even fully upgraded shields will almost always insta-stagger you
im talking very hard mode not regular hard
on very hard?
idk the math aint mathing here
very hard combat ik what u meant
very hard = 200% enemy damage
draugr 2 star = 96 slash, 30 chop, x2 makes those 192 and 60
lvl 3 bronze buckler max block armor on a parry at 100 skill is 105
how do you survive that without getting rocked, seems like they would instantly break the armor
they are almost tripling the max block armor of a parry
150 armor for a lvl 3 iron buckler at 100 block skill
let me go test again
idk if the damage a draugr does is 192+60 or if it doesnt apply the chop damage, but i would expect you need at least 192 block armor to absorb the hit?
maybe im misunderstanding how a block works tho idk
more health help with blocking but idk
ive barely seen serpents at oceans, is there a guaranteed way of spotting them ?
you can't block later on very hard even with a maxed shield to parry or tower shield
only spawn in ocean, 5% chance at night and storms, so max is 10% chance
okay what other foods might be ideal to get when in mistlands ?
im still surviving mostly off of plains food and seeker meat
Those are fine for exploring, work on cooking mistlands food for going into mines
anyone know how the global key damage modifiers work in conjunction with the combat difficulty world modifiers?
can u make elder altar a raid proof base
from the wiki:
Each key has a default value of 100. For example to increase player damage by 50%, use command setkey PlayerDamage 150
but regarding the combat difficulty modifier:
Player Damage (%) Enemy Damage (%) Enemy Speed & Size (%) Enemy Level Up Rate (%)
Very Easy 125 50 90 100
Easy 110 75 90 100
Normal 100 100 100 100
Hard 85 150 110 120
Very Hard 70 200 120 140
does the combat difficulty modifier regarding player and enemy damage change the global key value directly and i just need to set it back to 100?
or do i need to do something like combat modifier: hard and set the global keys for player damage up from 100 to bring it back to 'normal'
Can you reset boss keys for a player instead of global?
not sure, unlikely since the keys dictate world-wide events
But in world settings there is a player-based raids setting, indicating some level of individuality is possible
maybe do both of those? set the raid modes to PlayerEvents then it separates them by individual
ok my bad I look into my world again and the one that parry the 2 star draugr is the normal hard
sorry. i play too many world so i got confuse abit
wasabi basabi
is there foods i can make out of seeker meat or just eat it ?
and btw havent found anything to farm on mistlands yet, some blue shrooms tho
meat platter
blue plants and yellow plants are farmable
and you need those + those meats to make ||magic|| food
- theres a bunch of other good foods
but do i need magic food if im nto casting spells ?
you will have to find a certain cave/dungeon -ish structure, and explore that
and you will have to find ||petrified bone SKULLS not ribs|| and mine its insides
good, keep its goodies safe till you unlock more stuff
and i have the eitr machine as well
also, i kinda want to make an underground base but at the same time am tired of making bases 😫
the ||galdr|| table
i haven't built one yet
i managed to make a long ahh tower which i enjoy and i got another functional abse as well so idk
i realized after reaching mistlands that i can make tall structures using iron wood pillars
it would've been so helpful knowing it before 😩
now theres a giant raised ground popping from the middle of my house
same XD
and its SO PRACTICAL, u can make it small but have fit almost everything
outside kitchen tho might be needed
yes, but indoor kitchen also works if you use hearths i think
my house is just one giant room with beds, storage, kitchen, and crafting area, the above floor is a chicken farm, trophies, and portals
i just meant they take a lot of space, kitchens
yes
Morgen gjall.
Meowning
god morgon
is it normal for trollfish to suicide onto my shore
free fish 🥳
We made an industriously large kitchen.
It houses:
- 3 hearts, one with 2 cauldrons on with all the upgrades, two with iron cooking stations
- 5 ovens
- 2 fermenters
- 5 blackmetal chests on the ovens where we stash the ingredients for certain foods in the right quantities
- 2 chests above the fermenters for "potion" ingredients
- 1 blackmetal chest for extra's
sheesh
The only fish that don't are the ocean fishes but they will suicide onto your boat.
wild
once my friend and i were sailing and weren't paying attention till one of us repetiviely took damage for some time, it was a puffer
so wait fermenters arent forge upgrades ?
potion makers
I’ve never beat the game. I want to give it a go. I’ve gotten to the third biome… should I do a random seed or is there a great one to use for a fun first run?
you make meads from the cauldron and you put them in the fermenters
go random
a sense of mystery is always fun
Yeah all the fish jump onto boats but the puffer is the only "dangerous" one.
We started mistlands yesterday and I carry a few puffers with me to toss onto dvergr so I can get their extractors without the need to drag gjall or seeker thier way or murder them the normal way.
If I go random will I get the new stuff still
wow, that is some 🤓 strategy can't lie
dedicated individual
i always put mine next to forge 💀 ofc
ooops wrong comment
random seed will generate new stuff in the unexplored regions
so should i use full carapace set or combine it with fenris
up to you, many prefer fenris mobility
i like my protection with padded + root
No fermenters are used to make potions.
You make a mead or wine base in the cauldron and then put that base in a fermenter and some time later you will get 6 mead or wine.
Medium stamina, medium health and fire resistance are the ones I'm using in the mistlands now.
i used to think potions take too much effort but now i can't journey without them
get out of jail free card
especially the 5th biome's boss 💀
that one took potions, he just wasnt ready to die
Yeah, that stamina can come in so handy to get away from a nasty position while getting away chug health and get back into the fray.
stamina is a must in watery areas. Its really bad when things knock you back further into the water and you run out of stamina
saved me from a ||gjall + ticks|| attack in the 6th biome
Thanks, yeah I love finding alternative ways to do things or theory craft something and then test it out.
I still haven't gotten around to testing the greydwarf shaman, needle farming cage.
I'm doing full fenris, makes you a bit squishier but so mobile, going with fenris and root harnessk for pierce resistance is nice against seekers.
You exchange some speed with a bit more survivability.
yeah i was doing that actually
might be better than carapace for seekers
Also full fenris comes with fire resistance and negates the feather cape's fire vulnerability, making gjall easier.
can it save me in case i get hit from a seeker or soldier or starred ones?
Depends on your food, I'm running blood pudding, fish wraps and lox pie and can take a few hits from seekers, not too many but I don't get one shot.
For the moment I do need that buffer since I'm still mistiming my parry from time to time versus them.
If it gets too dicey I pop bonemass power.
Out in the wild I haven't died yet, infested mines is a different story all together.
i dont think i unlocked that cape yet
Me neither, first have to find 5 black cores, make the eitr refinery and get refined eitr, for that you need a sap extractor to get sap and soft tissue out of giant skulls.
we got all these armors but like root x fenreis carries 70% of the game 😭
what do we use feather cape for tho ? i just checked the stats but idk
mobility in the mistlands
Not falling to your dead in the mistlands and getting to those high places easier.
You can jump attack from further away and jump over larger enemies
Stagger soldier, jump over and stab them in the rear.
how do we tame animals btw
throw food at them and leave them alone (but stay in render distance of them
the wisp thingie isnt spawnign wisps btw
it only attracts wisps at night, or in the swamp where it's always dark enough
also if they are too close to each other then some will not work
do i have to make enemies of the dvergs
Get them in an enclosure, a pit is the easiest, they can't get out and other things find it harder to attack them.
Throw food that they will eat in the pit.
Move away so they go out of aggro, sneak closer and park your behind for the next half hour.
I'm trying Ashlands for the first time and my ashwood structure burned down. Is ashwood not immune to the combustion effect?
Only at night.
no, if you destroy the ward with cart or eitr discharge you can break stuff around and they will not get angry at you 🙂
hmmmmge
Carts make happy accidents
Yes and no, the easiest way is getting a gjall or seekers to them eventually they will die.
The most funny way (for me) is throwing pufferfish at them and killing them that way, they won't aggro and can then loot the extractors.
The dangerous way is attacking them coldblooded and just taking their stuff.
The most dvergr friendly way is making a cart close by and ram the box the extractor is in.
but do ineed anything else than the extractor
if you destroy the crates they have there you get soft tissue
The extractor is the most useful thing you get from them that you can't find elsewhere
I seem to be a magnet for Gjalls that end up killing all my friends anyways
That is the most useful thing, the banners hey have can give you red jute for decorating your own base.
Their forts can be broken down with a stonecutter after you destroyed the ward and gives loads of black marble and other stuff.
Their lanterns and beer mugs make good decorating and the lantern is also a good lightsource.
The crates will give soft tissue.
QoL request #34519 allow wisp fountains to store ~3 wisps so you don't need to babysit it
suggestions are always here ---> #suggestions 😄
valheim might be the best survival game out there
i rly did like v rising too but on many parts it falls short of what valheim can offer
it could be even better with some QoL stuff which i hope they will bring in either world modifiers or a setting that can be toggled once we get closer to completion.
anyone know answer to this?
the sickle is pretty good for harvesting flax and wheat, but awful for any other crop
theres so many things to do i forgor what i should be doing 🤔
tbw mist sword BANGIN
spear for the win
ew
i rly dislike spear
goddamn.. there was a elder altar nearby but its too near to water
I fought elder when the arena was half on the water. It was fine
The other crops can't be harvested by attacking them, works only for flax and barley as far as I know.
who's tryna harvest turnips with a sickle
Me and a few friends have a discord channel where we talk about the games we play and go into voice chat to talk while gaming together.
I make a to do list there.
the imagery gives me a giggle tho, thank
Harvested and already sliced for cooking!
why do food stats degrade when theres still like 5 minutes left?
damn the elder altar is a huuuuge area for a base 👀
They degrade over time.
i only see it when they start blinking but 5 minutes is a decent chunk of time. I though the blink was just a reminder to eat again soon, but you actually start losing stats ._.
Here is how the degrading works in short:
Duration remaining Effect remaining
75% 92%
50% 81%
25% 66%
10% 50%
So if you eat a food that last 30 minutes you will still have 50% of its buff when there are 3 minutes left.
dtho making proper use of the space might prove a bit diff
Flametal spires submerges?? why take the thrill and fear man, they should've not remove that animation
I'm hoping that they took it away because of the sliding bug and that they will fix said bug and bring back the submerging.
Just tamed 2 normal wolfs pre-deer boss, and now I am taming a 2 star wolf pre-deer boss 🤣
Insane RNG
Nice, let the wolves devour deer boss.
Noice!
Oh I see, the sliding issue doesn't bother me and same effect for the leviathan's back
Yeah, but the leviathan just deposits you in water and not hot lava that kills you very very quickly.
Though I hope they catch both bugs.
Hope you say is true to bring back the submersion. It gives more difficulty to mine resource in Ashlands since its the highest tier of ore up to this day
Nah that be too easy 2 star wolf probably will 2 shot the boss
Am going to breed an army of 2 star wolf now, and you know what's better, I did this in a coop world
Get enough deer trophies and summon again, so you can kill it normally once and see what wolves do to it.
I love that concept of instant death (1-2 seconds) when in contact with lava. There should be consequences when mining flametal which is a pretty balance mechanic in that biome due the fact its almost hellish biome
I do as well, beware the lava. Though I should only be punished if I do something stupid and get in the lava.
It is something completely different being deposit in it because of a bug and you can't get out of the animation once you start sliding.
Man, the PTB changes killed my enjoyment hardcore. Just trying to finish the game ASAP now before my experience is nerfed.
Too bad they kinda nerf the spawn rate in the last biome. Gods, those days of gameplay landing in the shore with an army of undead approaching you
More than kinda. And the static mining now is so boring.
I get it was buggy, but it was also interesting. The PTB just feels like another biome with a different skin now. Casuals ruin it again
They might change the mining experience somehow like before
Hopefully they fix the issue and can revert the change. The rest of it would need mods to replace the difficulty though.
or a spawn rate slider in world modifiers ^^
They might add the option for spawn rates and some chunk of details in regarding the diffuculty
Exactly!
Until the devs say they might or will, I won't get my hopes up. The casuals ruined Mistlands too.
Only way I would accept a spawn rate modifier for ashlands is if the pre-nerf rates were the default settings
Yeah
What do you expect? They're only few people to work on the game even though its a major successful game. Its hard to handle alot of suggestions and bug fixes request from all over the world
Default should be original dev intent, let others turn it down if it is too much for them and they need a non-standard playstyle.
I know I'm complain about Ashland spawn rate before but now man it just like meadow abit
Like Meadows? LMFAO.
I said abit
Like most things in this game, it starts hard and overwhelming. Then you get a sense of it and understand how it works and get geared a bit. Then it becomes trivial.
Not like it
The food system in Ashlands are easy to get compare to Mistlands. Damn rabbits won't stay put. Angler fish are hard to find
In the sense that it's a biome. Thats about it.
I dunno, I tend to agree with Hmm. I'm an outlier and I know it though. I play on the worst sliders I can make and have died twice on my current world up to ashlands.
Feel free to bring up PTB changes in the actual PTB channel by the way.
Oh yeah
Worth a shot, but based on the track record of Irongate, the casual changes will stay.
Guess I can start decorating my ashlands base with flower crowns and hugging all the mobs since it's basically a summer camp now lol
How many ppl complain about the sink flametal to make it change. It better with sinking
Most of the comments were just whining it was bugged and the deaths were unfair (valid). Just a bummer because this always happens. Biome is designed a certain way, then gets gutted later.
Oh yeah the sliding bug
Yep. That is a valid complaint. Dying to a bug is awful. But there are other ways of fixing it than just removing it most likely.
Should we change channels if we keep talking about it?
I won't bother talking about it over there, it won't change anything. I was just venting haha.
I remember my first complain about Ashland and everyone told me to gitgud and man now I want it back cause the point of new weapons in Ashland is to fight
The good news is it is not here yet. So we can still enjoy proper ashlands. Gotta get killing :p
Just don't change it but make a modified setting for ppl can't handle a horde
I'm close to finishing the game, so hopefully you can too before changes drop.
I already did but I want to play hard mode and then hardcore
And playing with friends feel fun in Ashland and solo man u have to become a real viking
Angler fish are actually quite easy to spot in my opinion, that glowing orb at their head really gives them away easily from a distance.
Hares don't like fireballs ^^
I just build auto fish farm😂
Almost done with my very hard hardcore run and it's been fun. Very slow, but fun.
It certainly won't change anything here...
Still the Ashlands food recipes and ingredients are much easier to get than Mistlands
My chief cook like 2 black metal chest of Ashland foods
Asksvins can be breedable unlike hare isn't which is a big difference
Oh yeah catching the hare is hard af
Yeah that's my personal issue why Mistlands foods are underappreciated the fact that they are harder to hunt Hare meats unlike Ashlands are hostile and will approach you
Ashlands is relevant Valheim discussion no? No need for the passive aggressive ellipsis. lol
The intent of the discussion was not to change anything. It's discussion for the sake of discussion, and clearly others feel the same way.
I just use fireball to kill it and last I did that I hit the dvergr too
Unless you have the staff of embers.
Sure did I like to auto farm stuff
Very true.
Spikes and traps everywhere ^^
Hares move around annoyingly in a worst biome ever just the terrain itself. Angler fish on the other hand are easy to spot on but its time consuming the find a school of Angler fish
But discussions about the PTB changes need to take place in that channel, not here.
Looking for a hare and then seeker come out of nowhere. Can't u just leave me alone and let me hunt god damnit
Ah, you are the resident channel police. Got it. The PTB changes, if it were an isolated discussion, would be discussed over there. Except parts of the discussion pertain to the game as it is now. It's not a purely PTB discussion.
Hare should be neutral, won't run away to players & dvergrs except hostile creatures. They should stay put for easy hunts
If u use skelett it will always scare the hare away
If not breedable then why not make the Hares behave on the spot or just roaming around not giving fcks to players and dvergrs
Or you could use the current tools to hunt them
Mistlands foods are underappreciated unless they fix the Hare's behaviour
AND the mist really help the hare
Ashlands foods are way more easier than Mistlands
Yes, typical animal behaviour.
"Hey viking I will just stay there so you can slaughter me easily"
Deers do it smh why can hares be just as nice?
Regardless the tools, the mist and terrain gets in the way. The pathway of those Hares are annoying and unpredicatable
It in a mist
The game changes of the past, the current state of the game, and the future state of the game were all discussed. That is in no way a purely PTB discussion, regardless of whether or not the PTB changes were part of the discussion. Those changes are echoes of the old changes made and the trends of the developers and are therefore relevant to any aspect of the game discussion when it comes to balancing.
You can sneak deers unlike hares
Ember staff, arbalest
I was lucky to have found an anglerfish spawn point I can usually get 4-6 there and if I wait a while they come back it seems.
If u got full run without using mage that kinda a problem
Finally got the mist walker let’s goo
This
Still its underappreciated. Fish n' bread was the highest stamina food tier before Ashlands. Still time consuming to get unlike stamina foods in Ashalnds which is easy
I snipe hares with my crossbow so easily
Yeah then hares become problematic to catch unless you put down spikes at certain hare bottlenecks.
Such a good weapon and it looks great
If you're lucky when there's no mist or you built some wisp torches
There is a decently sized mistland we covered in wisp torches, maybe 30-40 torches ? And it's an amazing hunting ground for hares
About to give give this thing a test run see how it fares
Very time consuming indeed.
I mostly use blood pudding for stamina, much easier to get and not that big of a difference.
Also you can passively obtain hare drops if you hang around the border between plains and mistlands, mosquitoes and fulings will hunt hare for you
Prioritised feather cape and food then weapons now I’m gonna work on getting as much refined eitr as possible for armor and upgrades
Mostly I used salads since the recipe is easier the fact its just farming
Is there no new fish food in ashlands
Yeah I noticed especially deathsquito do the work
I'll be transitioning to that when we get our shroom farm going, haven't found a decent farm spot yet.
I was looking forward to that since there was a magma fish when ashlands was still in working progress
It’s a shame the mistlands armor needs iron and not black metal for example
Plains armor needed iron now mistlands too
Iron is easy to get though in mistlands
So far no fishes but serpents only
New food with Ashland serpent?
Easy enough it’s just having to transport it back through the time consuming stamina draining terrain
Hope you got a perfect spot for that since Mistlands are mostly rigorous terrains, takes time and stones to level grounds for that
Stay in the valleys where you can when running it. Going up the rocks is too draining. If you can run the valleys it's faster and way less stamina needed. Just try not to get jumped by nasties.
It always find us
Its a pain in the ass grinding for iron ingots. Blackmetals are mostly for tools, weapons and building purposes. I don't know why they haven't make use of it for armor gear requirements
I imagine they’re saving it for the second plains armor set if they’re even planning on doing that
Because it is too easy to get black metal. They went back to iron likely for balance.
I was hoping the serpent stew but no, just the cooked bonemaw meat
I might have found a spot but still need to check the area out more since I can't see far enough to determine if it is big enough ^^
Same my chief just like why it spawn so much but can't make a good food like normal serpent
Well the only solution I have is to put a bunch of wisps torches all around mistlands to snipe hares
Very easy to get among the metals indeed
Wait isn't there iron vein on the surface
I'm thinking in the swamps area where only wishbone can spot on, am I right?
Yes
I dont find it worth it thought, rather mine in crypts
Unless if you have resource rate modifier change then its fine to mine scrap piles on the ground outside crypts
I using the hammer and there a 0 HP pop up where no tree and rock
Yep good alternative to spot hidden materials in the ground using two-handed blunt weapons
When I go find silver I use that and wishbone. It really help me find the vein more faster
to catch hares, wherever i see many hanging out, i build a picket fence funnel like zone and place a few spikes on the funnel edges. Whenever i go in the area, they all run as per usual and get spiked. I find 5-10 dead hares there ever so often
That's not a bad idea.
i got like 300 hare skins extra...
plan on making a hare massive carpet once i remake my hall
Yoink!
awesome idea. I just use wisp torches and practice with my arbalest.
Yo for queen I want to use fireball staff which armor do I make? The mage one or regular one for more defense?
I don’t think it does anything dawg
wait I found out in mistlands all of the bugs are resistant to physical damage
Didn't notice last time cuz I went mistwalker anyway
but in that case what's like
the point of the weapons that have no elemental stuff
like the skoll and hati
Im pretty sure I was dealing more damage
I'm doing mostly daggers this playthrough and I'm kinda disappointed if that's the case
Kinda was looking forward to Skoll and hati
Melee weapons with elemental still work, like frostner and mistwalker
If only the asshole loxes were as nice, theyve been destroying my mistlands forward base every chance they could get
Yeah no I'm talking about the melee weapons with no elemental
Many of those still deal white damage (normal)
oh
huh
A high level weapon and upgraded will still stagger them.
Still a good weapon even without the elemtal
I landed in mistlands with a spear and was stabbing the crap out of them and it worked well enough until I upgraded lol
First hit normal, second hit staggered them, then they died.
Wait I checked the wiki
Shouldn't it be gray damage if they're resistant
Cuz they are resistant
or is resistant just the 0,5x with no color change
While very resistant is gray
but still 0,5x kinda seems like it'd make fighting them more annoying
Rapid attack, no speed penalty. I think it’s an excellent weapon.
I never found them resistent enough to stop me tbh. But elemental weapons of course will work better.
I guess when we get to mistlands this playthrough I'll go skoll and hati with a himminafl as a secondary then
Or maybe I'll try out magic too this time
would've been cool if the skoll and hati did elemental too though
one doing ice and another fire
whats faders total HP?
25,000.
what would valheim look like in vr
Except for their weak spots.
That's only soldiers and gjalls tho
Is there a precise size known for the size of the minimap when fully zoomed in?
10.500 meters from center to edge
So let’s say 20x20m, the size of a chunk?
That's the full map radius yeah? I mean the little square minimap in the corner
Wait, the submerging mechanics of Flametal just got removed or is it on PTB yet?
PTB
The size of the minimap?
Come on, you can do it.
too many players got killed by the submergning flame metal islands?? 😂
Flametal sinking was removed as a (probably) temporary fix to a bug that was causing a lot of deaths
Yeah, I'm trying to estimate ranges for spawnproofing. I know that spawns can happen up to 80 m of the player so if I knew the minimap was 200 m x 200 m when fully zoomed in (example numbers as I don't know the size) I could sketch out where my furthest workbenches needed to be
I like the mechanic, tho it can get quite desperating to get out once the mobs around gather on you, but the solution may be simpler. I hope
ahh the gliding off where you start levitating - had that happen abit too often myself
I think I know what you mean Render, I may believe that is 100x100 or something
I think it's quite a bit bigger than that as I can kinda see where I always see the furthest mobs spawning from my wall. My estimate is 400 x 400 m
Or 200 m from the player "radius" (its a swquare)
My bad, I meant 240x240
I think the wiki may provide you a great deal of info about that tbh
Are you just guessing at this point?
Is that info on the wiki? I couldnt find it
The raid circles show where the player needs to stand for enemies to start spawning, not where the enemies spawn.
I think people are talking about different things.
Here: "NOTE: The event area (96 meters radius) is significantly bigger than the visual red circle (64 meters radius)."
so by the 64 meters of the red circle, you can estimate the size of the square zoomed in**
Yeah I'm not really talking about raids, I want to know the exact size of the area that the minimap displays
When zoomed in to the max
I'm also doing knives and I easily kill seekers and soldiers with my blackmetal knife and can stagger them with blackmetal shield.
Hi anyone wants to start afresh
looking for some players who are willing to start a server ?
sadly you won't get a new set of knives in the next biome 😦
#1024264966712340510 has you covered.
The map seed viewer has a coordinate system via mouseover, so using that I'm estimating the minimap shows 340 m x 340 m. But this is very crude and I was interested in exact numbers. Nothing seems to be on the wiki about this
@keen mulch from this you can test it yourself in a creative mode.
The workbench radius not upgraded is 20, put one down and keep going till you have 4 next to each other that spans 80m from otuer radius to outer radius.
Zerking axes is what I'll be going for.
only issue is that your damage will almost get halfed due to not having trained the axe skill (unless you have, i hadn't)
I'm training it here and there, won't be as high as my knives but won't be too bad.
Ok if someone asks a question here and you don't know the answer, why clutter the chat with responses like "go conduct an experiment yourself" or "why do you even need this information"? Like let the question be answered or just leave it be
for me it would have been a drop from 95 down to 16 😅
can anyone help me with If I can create a dedicated server or just join one which has active players ?
Either #dedicated-server or #1024264966712340510 has you covered.
It seemed like a good suggestion in lieu of an actual answer.
It is not what it is said, but the TONE used; we cannot send a toned-written message. I was trying to help. Either way, there is no official info about the zoomed-in minimap, But if you could enter the game in creative. Pinpoint the middle (a pole), and force a raid, mark the outer spots in the map with dots, then try to cover that with 4x2 walls. From that, you can double the wall with extended points. (I cannot wish I could try it now).
Sorry. Your suggestions are helpful., yeah Just a common attitude I find in some communities, people kneejerk reaction to unknown data isn't curiosity but defensiveness for some reason
So you complained about a thing that's only happened elsewhere. Got it.
No, I see it here too.
Where?
damn it feels good to 3 hit gjalls
do yall prefer building with wooden or stone materials ?
i preffer wood
a mix
at what lvl u can unlock first zerker axes?
i feel like wood is more cozy and simple to build with, even when adding dpeth
well i am not really a builder to begin with XD so i stick with the simplest option
You need ingredients found in ashlands for the berzerking axes.
an lvl 3 black forge 🙂
i spawned them in once just to try them out real quick adn then threw em to the bottom of da ocean
😅
Hello fellow vikings. :)
the asksvin mounts are kinda useless, i have a 2* one and i can barely go like 50 meters and hes already on the brink of death bcz the enemies deal so much dmg to it
my first one which was unleveled died instantly when it stepped out the gates
im not even trying to make them fight, they just get sneak attacked by a twitcher thats right in front of them and boom 400 hp gone
Should I use mage set or normal armor from mistlands to fight queen using staff of embers?
I'd go for eitr weave, more eitr means more fireballs.
If you have the staff of protection you don't really need armor if you are mobile enough and try not to get cornered without any eitr.
Alr thanks
do yall farming Surtling for coal or burn wood for coal? and which one better?
whichever one you prefer
I use mixed set, replace the mage helm with normal armor
if you've got a cluster of 5 geysers nearby eachother, that can be pretty great -- but even then you might want to smooth paths/build a covered walkway to stay dry in order for it to be worth -- on the other hand burning wood is plentiful and you can easily control how much, at the cost of grinding for it
I do surtling farming, we have 7 surtling spawners linked with portals.
Go in one portal, take coal and cores, move trough next portal and keep going till you loop back into base.
Drop the surtling cores in the obliterator if you have enough already.
abit mixed here, depending on surplus corewood
i see thank for your answer. and i will go for the surtling farm cuz i got 2 geysers near each other
obliterator the core is a great idea cuz i got so many
obliterator is terrible for efficient coal generation -- the resources aren't worth it (unless it's like excess trophies or bukeberries)
I have 2 surt spawners within 12m from each other, got 6 blackmetal boxes of coal now and I also obliterate the cores (got 4 boxes)
make stuff out of it? house frames, protective spikes, ballista bolts, whatever oh, nvm you deleted the question
Takes about 5 minutes for surtlings to respawn, with our loop we can practically keep on going if we take the time to stash the coal and cores.
For faster coal in total have a greydwarf farm in the loop and a killn near the end point, so the last stop is the greydwarf farm, you pickup all the loot.
Throw everything that isn't wood or coal into the obliterator and the wood in the killn and go for the surtling spawners again and keep going, the wood in the killn will turn into coal and you can keep on stashing all the unwanted drops into the obliterator and trigger it once it is full.
anything you have an excess of that will not be useful now or later goes in the obliterator for me, including surt cores if I have a very high amount and a double surt spawner swamp treehouse
i never been to building category and that is alot of stuff u can make with it.
Alright the best advice and thank u
yeah, surtling cores are also acceptable if you've got the farms setup and are done with fireworks
I have decreed that 4 blackmetal boxes of surtling cores are sufficient for now (already got about 40 portal pairs on that world
although... some sort of alchemy to transmute them into black cores... that would be amazing. even if its at a rate of 100:1
1 more thing is the coal u got from the obliterator is random?
no
oh ok
I think its 1 for 1 for trophies and 1:10 for the rest
ahh i see
Yeah we'll be making 2 portal hubs, one for frequently used portals, like the ones to the farms and points of interest that need frequent visits.
Another for lesser used portals like boss spawn spots, the sacrificial stones, harbors and abandoned forward bases.
Build the obliterator far from anything you don't want damaged, you could use it to kill animals or greydwarfs though.
To get 1 coal, insert:
1 Trophy (including boss trophies).
5 Ancient bark, Core wood, Fine wood or Wood
20 Arrows
10 of other items (including coal)
Better used the woods in the killn though except for ancient bark.
yeah far might be too strong a word.
So first time experimenting with the staff of protection
Running 1 hp 1 sta 1 eitr with mistwalker and carapace/root harnesk armor and I feel completely invincible
Honestly once you acquire the feather cape and slowly get the ball rolling with mistlands gear it becomes really fun
I’m gonna go take on a infested mine and see how it fares in dungeons
so how do i tempt a animal into a pit to tame it
Have you found any floating islands in the oceans?
Another way is kick it in depending on the size, or make a board over the pit and delete it when the animal is on it
Yeah
ngl i feel like i could get multiple playthrus out of this game
maybe next time a server with others and hard combat
almost tempted to asap but i wanna finish this run
ima try that out
Ive got a little deathsquito companion with me in the mistlandslands who is constantly jabbing me so I just keep casting protection
Farming blood magic and exploring mistlands at the same time
Does anyone know where I can talk about game optimizations, I'm from Brazil and many people and even myself have had problems with this type of thing, a lot of lag when the server opens and the game doesn't stay constant at 60fps during gameplay.
even with good pc config
how do i get higher eitr?
eating food with higher eitr, i think.
Agro it and make it follow you into the pen
the harpoon can help you with that if you have one
Guys, where can I read all the dreams? They are exciting but some are quite long and I can't read them all.
now that i have buildcosts on i keep forgetting to bring materials 😭
like for example PORTALS
Where do I find the pinned message for the server dev commands?
Best resource for all commands is in the wiki
Commands under 'admin commands' are available to server admins
Yep, need Ashlands materials for a T4 black forge
Thank you!
Thanks
uhm how do i prepare a meat plate ? i got the ingredients but idk how
In a cauldron and then stone oven.
In a 5* cauldron more specifically, make sure you've upgraded it
playing some upbeat action music in ashlands really helps keep you on your toes 100% of the time. Action Maximus
I think I can see Ashlands water. Reddish tint?
No time to rest for the wicked!
if dying was a skill, 100 easy after a few hours there
at least no blinding mist
Todays News: Yes we are working on mistlands - MONEY PLZ BORED GAME - what were we saying again
helljelly aggro in a karve is terrifying
im trying to settle an argument about where yagluth vegvisir spawns
the wiki says that it only spawns around stone henges but on the runestone page it says it spawns in fuling camps as well
i can't remember having seen one in fuling camps
We found ours in a round rock circle (not the scale of stonehenge)
Smallish boulders
yeah i think in older patches it would spawn in camps
damn a sunken crypt yielded only 34 iron didn't know that was possible
for the first time ever have i witnessed an eitr refinery kill a rabbit like 20meters away 🤣
it can be alot worse - on very rare ocasions you will find a crypt with 3 dead ends right away with only a few mushrooms
From crypts you can get 0-150
I assume the seals are for summoning the queen?
it's to open the gate - she doesn't need to be summoned the first time
why is my tower taking rain damage even tho it has a roof ?
are there holes in the roof? what is the roof made out of?
shingleroof
is it cuz the walls have holes ? like gaps i mean
btw is it enuff for fireventilation if u have a small hole on the elder altar ? under it
When you say gaps, do you mean you didn't snap the pieces together?
Like there's an actual gap in the wall?
It's not a perfect system. Sometimes a bit of rain can get in. Occasionally I need to repair a piece of floor
kinda like windows
Shorter wall?
If it's covered by roof, it shouldn't take damage, but it's not always perfect. Especially if the roof itself is an odd shape where you had to get creative with tile overlap or something
Try to place a 26 degree overhang
See how you have sort of a rounded roof? Probably have a tiny gap somewhere.
Or the giant holes in the walls.
I've had windows like that and not taken damage. But I also place an overhang piece around the edge
nah those are tight, i have a hole in the middle but thats also covered by smaller pieces, all fit well
Is it just one piece that's taking damage, or is it uniform across the floor?
that moment when you find the queen because you can hear her from inside a nearby dungeon rather than finding a vegvisir...
You could try some crystal windows, also. Or the dwarven window things
Is DX better than Vulkan? I got a laptop with RTX 4050
It's not the windows. My house is missing an entire wall and the floor does not take water damage
yeah I thought so. If roof is right, floor shouldn't take damge.
We have crafting areas with half walls and no walls and no issues
no, it's either cause your roof has gaps, or you made the "roof" out of wooden floors, which don't fully stop rain below. if your roof is made of actual roof pieces, then the most likely problem is there are gaps in it
wooden walls need to be protected by a roof as well
Best Stamina food?
In which biome?
raspberries
Mistlands since i havent unlocked the recipe for ashlands yet
Fish'n Bread
Why did they go from procedural to handcrafted?
I just noticed that with the inclusion of the skugg, we now have an enemy build piece
It's a structure, but also counts as an enemy.
This doesn't make it impossible to have a training dummy
Where?
I thought I heard ashlands is not procedural
Then you'd be wrong.
It would make no sense to switch the entire game up for the last two biomes.
where did you hear this?
Nahhh just got a 2 star morgen in a cave f my life
The fortresses
Still procedural.
I only see one design for all of them
And?
That's not procedural.
I assume that's their confusion
i had 2 x 2 star Morgens before i had cleared my first 2 castles xD
They're still procedurally placed and populated
procedural is a methodology, not the variety/diversity of content
Then it's a matter of knowing what they meant by what is handcrafted in reality
Can always count on Derek for deep and engaging conversation.
You're welcome.
yep and it just one tapped me with 200 hp
So the fortress island is handcrafted, but everything around it is procedural?
Flametal veins respawns?
The models, as usual, are handcrafted, the game itself is still procedurally generated.
just like trees, rocks, graylings, fulings, etc. are all handcrafted, and placed procedurally around the map
procedural content needs to have some bespoke assets at some level
so a 2 star morgen does 55 dmg per hit with lvl 2 mistlands gear and bonemass how lovely
Welcome to the endgame.
a 2 star berserker would delete you trough block so, duh?
are you heavy, light or mage?
full heavy
ahh yea without bonemass it's a fight with no errors allowed xD
i was lucky to have a mage in the background shooting frost spells at it during both my encounters, so all i had to do was to stay alive and keep it's attention, died once to the first
can't imagen what it must be like to when you need to do damage as well
also bubble benefits
at least yours is stuck in a cave, ours was both out in the open with alot of enemies getting involved along the way
he didn't bubble me, just so we could get it down faster
as long as bonemass was up i could stay alive
bubble gives a guaranteed block which greatly increases dps xd
welp died for the 5th time from the morgen even with corpse run it still does 60 damage
lul
my best advice is to leave the cave, wait for agro to get lost, sneak in and hit it with an arbalest shot and leave asap, repeat until it dies 😅
im a viking
or hire a mage to do the damage and you start dancing with it xD
personally i hope to never find a 2 star Morgen again
yep i died again you mind hoppinh on HAHAHA
i am not a mage, that would be my step dad, but he is off to work (he is a captain)
i have no idea how to fight a 2 star morgen head on myself xD
Stick it with the pointy end.
don't judge me but i used daggers in the ashlands (i have killed the Father)
Ashlands is an absoloute terror, i hope they don't tune it down, this is kind of what players asked for 😂
It's in PTB only, yes.
ahh yes what a wonderful day
wait so they are going to make Ashlands less tense? 🙁
It's still in PTB.
i cant be more happy rn
What's up?
the 2 star morgen is defeated after 28 deaths with the bonemass and corpse run combo
Yay!
i have become invisible!! had a mist hare come up to me, sit in front of me for a moment and then wander off without getting spoked 😄
like 10 cm away from me
yep, the mist can work both ways
that's the best* part, i was not sitting in the mist, i was sitting near a wisp torch
someone want to start a world with me
Alright. ive gotton mist lands gear i can say atlast.
this biome is a solid 4/10
super unfun but atleast the gear is really cool
why unfun? 😄
Land?
ROUGH
Vision?
NONE
Mobs?
Hard to get away from
VERY high amounts of damage
the damage is not that bad, just takes some getting used to.
the land is actually decently easy to traverse if you stop trying to force your way in one direction only, alot of the low areas are connected
Vision - start using your other senses 🤣
but i appreciate your opinion 🙂
also
i really just dont like fighting the mobs
it might be just the fact they are hard to get away from
Hmm i haven't had the problem with not being able to get away from them
idk
jarlls-Fly
Soldiers-not hard to get away from
Ticks-Jump
Seekers-Fly
gjalls are slow, seekers you just need to conserve your stamina until they land, then make a run for it, once you get a abit of distance between you and it it won't try to fly again, and ticks just 1 tap them like with deathsquittos
if you struggle hitting them then get a sledge hammer
meh ive decided to go with mage so
ahh easy to fireball them then 😄
hitting really anything isnt a huge problem
with my staff order im going
Fireball>Protection>Frost>Dead
(Obtained)
a huge patch of mistlands and ahvent found literally anything except some dvergs 😫
dvergers are pretty helpful in early mistlands
very good if you trying to get some early seeker meat
i mean is it any use unless i kite the seekers close to em ?
not really but
if you do need a place to rest for a moment you can always depend on them
dvergrs do have materials close by them in towers or camps that you need for progression
also yeah here's a tip for grabing the extractors
1: Block and push any dwarfs out of the room
2:Break the box
3: Jump out a window Idealy facing your base
or bring a cart to break the barrier so they won't get mad when you grab the extractor
i wouldn't recommend cheese like that, just bring bonemass and kill the little guys
(finds a 2 star fire mage)
also yeah
Always have bonemass in mistlands
going into a mine without bonemass is a deathwish
(i sadly had to learn that the hard way
)
hence bonemass
bonemass does nothing against fire damage
with bonemass and the fire res mead, 2 star fire mages won't just obliterate you
yes, it does, actually. bonemass reduces physical damage, and the direct hit on the fire mage is largely physical damage
last time i tried with a bubble and fire resistance a 2 star fire mage still one tapped me xD
also correct me if im wrong but
is yagluth to ashlands
what bonemass is to mist?
that's because.. you're a mage.
not trying that again
wrong, because you can do all of yagluth with meads except for the lightning res
i was not a mage, i was warrior with over 200 hp, the mage was my friend
resistances don't stack at all, they override
i mean YEAHHHH
But you dont run out of forsaken powers
just sayin, yagluth's power is not that strong when you utilize the meads
also what is the queens drop?
it's a material you need to continue progression, since it's kinda new i'd rather not say
meh you can always just
|| . || it
the key to getting into the ashlands in the first place
without it you will not set foot on land in ashlands xD
yeah ive been hearing alot of buzz that the|| ashmaw serpents || are a nightmare to get around
tbh i never really had a problem with them at all, they don't seem to hit very hard
that's not the issue
is it the funny hot water?
yea
dose it do a tone of damage to ya boats or smth?
i haven't gone far enough in with the longboat to find out as i wanted to make sure i got out in 1 piece (came out with about half health on the boat)
meh could take a karve with nothing on you
see how far you get
i have my level 95 spear skill to dear to try that xD
@frail wagon it does kill the boat, and it also kills the player
it is possible to get there in an iron boat, but it would take a long time and a lot of effort
(that is, literally getting off to repair like every 30 seconds or minute or so)
and probably would be a waste of time
because you can just
get the special boat
right
just got to the swamp and already died twice before reaching the shore 🙃
and thus a permanently fond memory has been created that you will look back on later on 😄
theres a tiny hut by my tombstones that i was trying to reach the first time. every subsequent death was me trying to quickly grab my loot then lock myself inside
I successfully locked myself inside and repaired the hut!
It's 2x2 and the workbench takes up 2 of those but at least im safe
This is unfun to you? The biome is reaching his objectives
yay~! Just watch out for that troll.
you mean the big ||Abormination|| right?
i mean a troll followed me into the swamp from the black forest but ran away once it got poisoned
whichever is closer, lol
hope you dont mean another ._.
each biome after meadows has their own kind of "troll" enemy
big hard hitting monster
and each can fell a house in a few swings
anyways @austere belfry welcome to the swamp, enjoy your stay 😄
why are there so many leeches
beacuse they make for some good blood pudding
6 leeches just swam up to my dock in shallow water and started biting it
where else would you get blood for blood pudding?
anything that bleeds like animals? ;_;
leeches
Ah mb i miss read
Some people might think I'm boring but I kind of wish all Valheim shields had that recognizable round viking shield shape...
i know right?
At least you can put a design o nthem upon creation
Round tower shields wouldn’t be confusing at all
true. Actually, i think vikings did use a form of tower shield, lemme look it up
Where can I find a good PvP server? Sorry for the noob insertion but I’m a bit lost
nope
