It's frustrating when you are in the mountains for the first time with frost resist and all of your gear and a golem yeets you off a cliff :'D
thats life just make sure to have extra meads in your base
I, in fact, did BUT on my rescue attempt a drake literally pushed me from the exact same spot and I died
Didn't want to play Valheim anymore on that day
when the game first came out me and my buddy got murdered in the mountain ran outta potions and had to enter the mountain by building camp fires every 5-10 meters to not die to the cold
It's the only time I've seen a drake push a player, probably because it that aggroed to the golem nearby
Yeah I remember thinking about that but the mountain was so steep that it would've been really difficult
To this day I always try to avoid golems on high mountains because of that little incident
Hah I've been there too. Ran outta meads and gear for cold resist, made a trail of fire and eventually got it back
Jesus Christ, Ashlands spawners really need a tweak, in day we got so many 2 star mobs that it's unfun
The idea is to destroy the spawners before that happens.
We did that and they still spawn
Fuck it, going easy mode
First base and then maybe we will switch it back
Oh, the normal zone spawners? They're the same rate as every other biome. You'll get there.
If you need to, break the spawners with a bow so they don’t spawn anything
alo my house all time fire, i make camp fire and all time my house...
how can I protect it, I'm making it as before, I'm making a mistake somewhere
WHat's with the creepy guy staring at me in the swamp. wtf is that?
that's the allfather. Odin is a bit of a voyeur in the 10th realm.
There is a new modifier introduced with the Ashlands update, which will set things ablaze if you don't contain the fire the right way.
Might check if you have that one enabled.
He poofed
with what to initially protect against ignition, I have to have a fire if I want to sleep
Sign out of the game, select your character, select your world, check the modifiers and turn off the fire hazard modifier.
From that point on fires won't set anything ablaze.
Once you got stone to build with you might consider to turn it on again.
he does that when you get close, or if you try to shoot him.
That's odin? Why all old and frail
anyone playing as mage? what ratio of HP Stamina and Etir do you use ?
I like 2 eitr 1 stamina
and highly recommend (at least for Ashlands) going for a couple pieces of fenris (or even full ||askvin|| armor). Movement is key, much more than a tiny bit of eitr regen
im just a girl getting claustrophobic in the mist lands trying to find a bug colony
yea fog sucks
just found my first gjall
Be sure to say "Hi Gjall"!
whar...
fml fighting moder died came back an my body inventory gone ffs
Boy does it feel so good seeing a hunt take place in the middle of a fuling camp
I love seeing the wolves and the fulings go at each other
nah dm for hot gjall projectiles coming your way pew pew
even better with Tar nearby. 4 party fights are the best
as a meele type I feel I can take mobs a bit easier than with Magic? am I feeling it right ? xD
i'm always running out of Etir and seem to need to be always kiting mobs
correct ?
Just a gal and her gjall
Ah I didn’t mean to ping with that
agreed, i am going fully melee and have basically no problems that wouldnt be caused by myself 😄
my first run (pre ashlands) I was full melee. and it was not easy
doing another run now (to reach ashlands) and melee has been feeling easy so decided to try magic and learn how to play wit hit.
seems a good option in Ashlands... will see
hey any mages here that can tell me what staff i'm supposed to use in ashlands? They all feel kinda low dmg compared to my melee friend who's also much tankier
cold one I believe for most mobs
Fire one to attack forts from distance I believe
hm i don't really know how i'm supposed to live with the frost one.. i gotta channel so long to kill anything some ranged mobs always hit me
Do animals get easier to control with higher riding skill? Or am I just really bad at it? The tool tip just says stam / speed but the handling is horrific. Or maybe its just me rip
I think one time i saw people said mount sprinting take less stamina
you need to use the mouse to direct the lux and the keys jsut to move/stop and run
Goddammit, died to Yagluth, and only because I forgot to drink some fire resistance wine after it ran out
ay do mountins spawn more often in the north is it JUST random?
No, mountains have the same chance to generate in any other direction
Finally! Yagluth beated!
Grats
just curious but are the Midsummer items active again or not? Asking because my friend how played the game for the first time got the flower crown recipe and I didn't
how often do stone golems spawn? Can you stop them from spawning somehow?
You can spawn suppress them the same as any other mob, yeah.
how? Placing benches?
Actually today (if it's the 1st June already in your part of the world).
there is no stop for them unless you put some campfire , but i would farm them for their trophy which is the best looking one ...
Any player base items.
you mean placing structures down?
Well yes. Specifically player base items.
I turn the ashland into the crafting station land....
We both have the same time zone it’s June 1st for both of us and he got it and I didn’t weird
i wish we could tame gecks but that wouldent be very helpful
guys, is there any way to kill moder without endless stone golems spawning? I places workbenches all over the place, but they keep appearing
I'm playing on hardest difficulty and whenever i start killing moder a golem appears before i can get him 1/3th down. And on the highest difficulty killing moder and especially a stone golem takes me like 150 arrows
Guys, is there any specific conditions for Abominations to spawn or something? i've been trying to find one without luck, been on 6 different swamps and nothing.
@rustic plume Maybe a difficulty thing? I'm on the highest difficulty and i'm rarely able to enter a swamp from my boat and not having one spawn on me immediately.
just random, look out for odd looking stumps
I do have it on very hard
I dunno how you look for them, but there's a trick you can use to find them.
Aboms have a slightly different pattern green on the part that's sticking out on the surface; and those "stumps" always show something like mud falling off of it.
If you see something like that, simply shoot an arrow at it. If it's an abom, it'll come "alive" even if you're out of its own agro range.
dig a pit for the golems and trap them @stuck crypt
Hello,
does anyone wants to start a game. I am bored playing by myself
@strange arrow How do you get them to fall into the pit? They don't just walk into them.
Also, moder is already spawned on 2 locations on my world :p, can i get them to leave somehow?
cover it with floorboards and break them with the hammer
alright, i was thinking about doing that, but i don't think that's possible when moder is bombarding me
and unfortunately Moder will stick around once summoned
yeh ideally a task for before that xD
hmm crap. any idea howmany moder spawn locations a world has? Cause i've already spawned him in 2 spots.
I had to leave the first spot because there simply was no 'fight' area. It was sheer cliff with a golem chasing me off of it the entire time
you may be able to draw the golems away if they aren't too close to her
3
one more chance then :p...
(Moder literally means mother)
I dunno if you're able to load an old save of your world before you spawned her a 2nd time?
But if you can, that's an option too.
Another one - but considered in a way as cheating - is to kill all spawns off with devcommands, remove all drops with devcommands, prepare the area, spawn the eggs and do the summoning again.
not that it shouldn't be do-able anyway, i somehow managed to defeat 2 of her 2 golems, wolves and drakes on x4 scaling xD
was on "normal" difficulty, so i get that the golems were parryable whereas yours may not be
Yeah, I know that, but none of themn have ever showed up
first death in nightmare mode
Killed by what?
greyling assassin
Is hildir’s quest worth it?
imho the boss trophies and the challenge are.
The items she unlocks once you return those chests aren't really worth it.
Fire pit is useful, sparklers and fireworks are fun, but that's about it.
The clothing is good for the colectionists among us, as the stamina reduction it offers is only useful for building and / or farming at your own base.
I’ll probably do it for the boss trophies and it’s something to do. I am a bit overpowered so it should be amusing to see how much damage I do to them
why tf my server lag so much in ashlands
i got 3 people it says its only using 2/4 gigs of ram
can you over level skills with gear? ex: lvl 100 archery + root set (+15) = 115 archery?
No
training magic is so painfully slow 😦 esp pre ashlands
is it just me but magic fells a bit weak in ashlands but obliterate everywhere else?
like compare to what damage people do with melee weapons even shotgun seems underwhelming
or meybe there is a big dmg increase with elemental skill progression i have not reached yet (45)
any tips on bone mass solo?
Magic is OP in Ashlands. But yea the dps potential for a lot of things might not be as high as melee, magic is just a lot safer / doesn’t require as much skill
Iron mace and poison mead and you can’t go wrong. Health and stamina meads if you feel like you need it. Two health foods 1 stamina food
- you can snipe him from a tree, but its slow, and will probably break your bow.
- hes big, you can abuse that to force him to give you time to recover from things.
- they have similar weaknesses to blobs, take that as you will.
Personally though, I just anti-poison and sword the mass to death.
If you’re wanting to cheese standing on the middle skull with a stag breaker is gonna be a lot better than a bow
thank you!
what kind of sword?
just a t1 iron will do.
if you really want to guarantee a bonemass completion, just throw a bed on top of the skull, there is a level where you can place a platform that will allow you to hit the mass, while the platform is unable to be destroyed. from there, just smack him with wood clubs if you're really desperate.
corpse run should give you enough regeneration to keep yourself alive.
So what're the main valheim weapons? Clubs, Swords, and Spears?
axe sword spear dagger bow club ategir magic crossbows the list goes on
So if we're done the 2nd boss what should we get for main weapons?
elder should be taken on with bows and fire arrows
if you dont wanna use the bow for him go with a sword
Yea we beat the deer and elder
so you mean the third boss then
Oh wait we haven't fought elder YET but we got the seeds, we gotta find his alter
Do you think me and my friend should rock one sword and one mace or both sword
yea preapair a finewood bow and upgrade it
id both take a sword and a bow and use the sword when your health is full and your healing mead is available
when your health gets low enough to need to use the healing mead back off and use fire arrows with a bow
once your mead is off cooldown and your health is full you can go back into close range with the swords
the mace will do very little damage to elder he's not weak to it
the third boss bonemass is very weak to blunt damage so after you beat elder and get onto the iron tier make a couple of iron maces for him
Oh I see, so each weapon has its ups and downs depending on the enemy
exactly
theres 3 main damage types Pierce, slash, blunt
theres also special damage types such as fire poison spirit ect
do not do blunt on elder he is resistant to it
so your damage will be halved using a blunt weapon on him
he is neutral to pierce and weak to fire and slash
Yea I can use a bow
pair it with fire arrows and your damage will be good
And there's how many major bosses ingmae
every biome aside from deep north and ocean have a boss
||Eikthyr; No weaknesses, but also no resistances. Elder; Weak to fire but immune to poison Bonemass; Weak to blunt, frost, and spirit, resists fire and pierce, immune to poison Moder; Weak to fire, immune to frost Yagluth; Weak to spirit, resists fire and pierce, immune to poison The Queen; resists pierce, no weaknesses.||
Are these all the bosses?
no
e: theres one more
there's a 7th now
a new boss was added with the ashland update
What's their weakness?
he has no weakness
Oh just like the first one
skilled players
Personally, I just sword anything I can. even bonemass and moder. I may eventually do weapon specific playthroughs though.
hes resistant to pierce and immune to fire and spirit
What's the new bosses name
fader
(father)
fader, meaning father
odd that its immune to spirit.
Ok cool tyvm
using a weapon that a boss or mob is weak to does so much more damage than not matching its kinda insane
Wait it says here that there's no resistance for elder
except poison but slash/blunt would be neutral
he's very weak to fire
the main use for blunt damage is for stagger which he is also immune to
Yeah ofc, but it doesn't say he has weapon weaknesses. Can you verify all that info is correct?
it is
my bad i misremembered i could of sworn he was weak to slash and reistant to pierce and blunt previously
neutral is the best you can hope for with most bosses
i should test sword bug vs mace against bonemass. (both t1 iron, both lvl 100 skill)
Got ya, tyvm
bonemass is weak to both blunt and frost, but you would need to venture into the mountain to get frost arrows which isnt worth it for him
i died
Honestly, I would do it.
so easy, he was taking NO DAMAGE lol. so so sad.
what killed you?
a bunch of ooze and skeletons lol.
if you were taking punches, or having to deal with minions, thats a major pain.
body on body on body lol.
oh you were doing bonemass?
lol yes... 😦
did you bring a mace?
yeahg
root is anti pierce, it wont stack with antipoison iirc.
get those turnips on the go and then you can make better food if you didn't already 🙂
it has anti poison on it too its good for when the mead runs out
realistically 1 stack of meads (60mins total poison res) per player should be enough to finish the swamp, but 2 batches isn't even that harsh on resources, better to be over prepared in this case especially
its more for the moment it runs out so you dont take a ton of poison damage if you need a second or two to drink the next mead
not being able to drink the next one until the previous one runs out is annoying and limiting, but at least it ensures we get full benefit
its that bried moment between one running out and drinking the next most people die
with proper setup and damage avoidance, it shouldnt be an issue, but for those who aren't confident, it might be a useful failsafe.
its also good for the journey to the boss
and its better than troll and not as slow as iron
jumping on his altar should get you enough breathing room to down a fresh mead without dying
yeh you just have to be away from his big stink cloud at that point whatever
What's the best weapon pairing with a shield?
I got a bone tower shield, I was thinking of adding a bronze mace to it
oof tower shield
dont use the tower shields unless you are bad at the parry
switch to a bronze/iron buckler asap xD
Well I just block and get aggro while my friend bows lol
But I'm wondering what to pair with my bone tower shield
a bronze buckler if you block right before the attack hits you parry and the mob gets stunned and takes more damage
But what primary weapon should I use
id use the mace
for swamp mace is great
bronze mace, atgeir, bronze sword?
that way you can get your mace skill up while before you need it for bonemass
Yeah that's what I think I'll do since my friend is gonna use sword
the blue giant stuff?
trollhide
And food it depends, I got access to neck, boar, and deer meat, and honey, blueberries, and yellow shrooms
have you upgraded it at all? its worth doing
Not yet
sword really comes into it's own in mountains, plains and on, but if you make frostner that will also help you for a long period as well, so you can have good blunt and slash going forward
your first priotity should be finding some carrot seeds in the black forest so you can start farming carrots
as well as the nice slow effect from frostner
you need a little bronze to make the cultivator and one you have that you can make carrot soup and deer stew which is much better
Why do I need a shield if I can parry with an axe?
So Ditto can live longer
the block force is the amount of damage your block can defend against and parry
Ah so it's better to parry with a shield
Ditto is using T1 food in a T3 area, Ditto should get better food xD
and the bucker increases the parry damage even more
all about that xbonus on parry
hes working towards killing elder
Yeah we're new to this game
its t1 food in a t2 area not that bad
the food is vital to yr overall survival
if you are brave and know a close by swamp its even worth looking for turnip seeds and getting them a bit early
just dont go there during the night
i'm just kidding around but so many new players find it unnecessarily difficult just becoz they didn't unlock the better food options
we see it time and again
i started a new world for ashlands and started again and im waiting on my whole group to be present for the bosses
What're the benefits of a tower shield
it has more block force than a normal shields block
but when you parry you block force is increased beyond what a tower shield can block
Negative is no parry
you can hold damage more, but it also slows you by 10%
but positive?
and a tower shield cant parry
if you are just blocking its superior to a standard shield
but if you are parrying with standard versus blocking with tower it doesnt hold up
it's great if you want to be a meatshield, with everyone keeping bubble on you and such, but for solo play it's gonna slow you to a crawl
Got ya, cause I prefer blocking especially in large crowds
That's basically me with my friend, I just hold shield while he bows
fair
the normal shield is still better for that cause if you parry it he will do more damage
later on though the mobs will blast through even the heavy shields a lot more easily
and parry is just godly
the parry timing is very generous btw
for example you come up against a golem with pierce res, yr gonna be fighting it for an hour xD, but if you parry it and you and yr friend keep up high dps and keep it staggered, you can down it in seconds
trolls aboms wraiths golems all big hard hitters that parry just makes light of
the bigger draugr variants too
root armor is my goto right up to plains
most minis will be obliterated by parry into sword or mace, it doesnt really matter which one if you know how to use it well. I know maces can 0cycle a golem, i just dont know if swords have the dph to 0cycle, but both will easily 1cycle if done right.
its good in plains against deathsquito but the flame wielding furling and shamans can burn you to death
its good for mountains too but the cultists can be a pain
until fire resist yeah. apparently fire resist just overrides it.
you can drink a fire resist mead with it and be fine but at that point you may as well make padded
padded is kinda needed for early mistlands
another tip when you are doing your swamp exploration is get like 5 times the amount of iron you think you will need
some say the cp is useful, but I usually dont bother.
cp?
chestplate.
which one ?
root
the set gives +15 to bows pierce resist and fire weakness
so its very good in general but padded has double the defence per piece when upgraded fully
that's such hell...
cp is pierce resist, set is bows, helm is antipoison
still havent killed him btw lol. it's a tough one. but he's manageable to run away from. poison res. helps alot .
all pieces are fire weakness, but its easily overridden.
fire is only a problem in plains and the cultists in the mountains
so its not much of a problem as by the time you get to plains you can make padded pretty easily
gjalls if you dont know how to orbit.
i wouldnt bring root to mistlands you switch it for padded in the plains
If I had a character/world to test this on, I'd totally do it. reckless? maybe.
Unfortunately, I'm trying not to mess up my main char/worlds with tests.
seekers and ticks do pierce damage also
which one of you want to help me really quick defeat bonemass.
so i guess it would be test it with a fire barley versus gjall seekers and ticks versus just padded
how do you get close to him without letting him hit you? lol. i just can't do it, i suckkkkk.
I just dodge the punches.
you dont just run up and smash the shit out of him with the mace
and retreat to heal when needed
lol, i know that lol. but how do i roll again?
block + jump
on controller its block and jump at the same time
works for pc too. I vaguely remember there was another input combo, but I haven't used it in ages.
? stabroll (oh wait al update removed the feature)
i just trolled the HELL out of bonemass.
i hoed the ground underneath a HUGE branch... and he stopped moving and i hit him a thousand times lo,.
that's one way to do it i guess. lol.
I usually build some sort of barrier that mass can't fit through, and retreat behind it when I need to regen, but if you accidentally broke his ai, good for you.
lol.. i really did lol. but yeah, i'll take it. might do it again if i can lo,
did anyone else think the ashlands jade weapons gave you immobilization instead of the target or am i just dumb lol
How can you fight for odin if you have no honor 😔
Haha, I think that's just you mate
dude i was sitting here for days like "who on earth is actually gonna use these weapons??" i was genuinely confused on why the devs would do that lol
once i figured it out tho i went and remade most of my weapons with jade
is there some event going on? why can I build maypoles now
couldn't before, or is it just cuz of june
It's summer time
Ooohhhhh okay
Har har! Just about to burn log stacks to make coal and it starts raining hard! Dark grey windy style in 2 seconds extinguishing the fire outside i was about to use! 🤣 That's Valheim for you! Haha
Oh sick i just saw Thor fly by my base in a flash of mega lightning! I love that. When you see either Odin or Thor!
trying to build a support pillar for a dock is so hard man
Facts.
what if you wanted to build a big dock
but god said
(Red stablity)
I would tell god to f*ck off and forcefully beat my head into metal wood beams.
Eventually, something less red than my brain matter will form a stable structure.
yo im new to the game looking for some nice people to play with, im from EU
Give #1024264966712340510 a look 🙂
anyone wanna start a play through
does a raid go away or pause when I leave the world?
Pauses
thx
BTW thanks for the advice, and I just wanted to say -
I'm usually not that enthused about level grinding in Valheim but I'm surprised at how easy it is to level Bows like that 👍
- Find a wild Lox
- Pillar up with a Hoe x5 (4 isn't enough b/c their AoE stomp; even 5 can be insufficient if you aggro more than one Lox, but 5 is already plenty difficult to climb back atop yourself)
- Then just spam-click with a crude bow and wooden arrows (pausing when it goes circling around)
In about 75 minutes of doing this (including time running back to craft more arrows a handful of times) I went from level 27 to 61
you're welcome
Bonus: you will (slowly) get more meat for Lox meat pies 😋
Btw, you can do basically the same thing with bonemass 😉
about the other lost skills the weapon skills are just murder alot but if you want to regain your block skill eat 3 stamina foods find a greydwarf nest dig a tiny bit so you dont move when you block and just sit there blocking
make sure you get just far enough from nest to spawn more than 3 tho
Well, I have a Lox meat shortage, and I already have a Wishbone, soooo 😜
But yes I do remember that Bonemass can't do anything to you if you pillar up enough and pelt him with arrows
I also thought about just fighting Moder a few times, but... You gotta fully draw to hit her most of the time, so it'd be way slower. Although I could use more tears by now, tbh...
Bonemass Is nice since hebir very resistant to pierce so you don't have ho looking for other enemies to shoot, but yeah if you want lox meat then why not 😄
I killed about 5 Lox (Loxes? Loxen?) in those ~75 minutes, out of two packs of 3, so I didn't even spend much time running around looking for them
so xp doesnt correlate to damage dealt?
it does
you get xp when you deal damage
Bows +141% damage and knockback, -33% stamina usage, -80% draw time 1.5 per arrow when hitting a creature
damage increases with level
but if you're spam-clicking the Bow, you're always doing minimal damage, which even after gaining all those levels I think it only increased my damage by less than one point
each shot went from ~1.2 damage to ~1.8, if I were to guesstimate it
Pretty sure the question is, do you get more xp for dealing more damage.
the main benefit to raising bow skill is the stamina and drawtime
rather than doing near 0 damage and just spam
THAT answer is "no"
im gonna test this now
handy table shows how xp works for all skills and the benefits gained
imo, that is a little bit stupid mechanic, to not take into account damage you deal... basically a punishment for being good at the game (such parrying and hitting staggered enemies)
or for using a weapon that does more damage and hits slower...
also theoretically slows down xp gain the further you progress
i dont think it works anymore but on release the best way to level weapon skills was to hit a rock with them
pretty sure it still works, but the target needs to be alive
yeah, Hearth and Home fixed that
doesn't work with many weapons tho...
I checked the code and I'm like 95% sure that XP gain does not depend on damage dealt
they reworked xp to be when creatures are hit it just used to be damage so any damage number a 0 included gave xp before
yeah, it's basically just "gain a fixed amount of XP when your attack hits something" which generally is limited to living things except for e.g. Pickaxe or Wood Cutting
does a multi hit weapon give xp for all of the creatures you hit, or does it give only the same amount you'd get for hitting 1 creature?
every damage number is 1.5 xp
XP for each creature hit
really wish any of the magic single target weapons that do multiple hits were any good in ashland...
lightning shotty still good in very specific situations, but... just why?
I had someone very angrily defending the Dundr to me in a different channel last night, but when I first tried it yesterday I was unimpressed... maybe I need to try it more for crowd control specifically
both staff of ice and growth are far better at that...
it's 12 x ~20(?) Lightning damage IIRC
on paper, yes... but even at point blank range it's really damn hard to have all of the projectiles hit a target
the Staff of the Wilds seems to be the way to go in the Ashlands but it's still honestly kinda unimpressive - good, yes, but not exactly amazing
and the others suck or are situational
yeah it took me three close-range hits to kill a single Volture... like, cmon man
staff of the wild i would appreciate a lot more if it actually got you any xp on attack
staff of wild is working really well for me tho. They destroy all the high HP targets very quickly compared to other staves
and even with a crowd still works fine
just need to be careful with how you move around them and where you place those roots. With crowd I noticed spreading them out works the best, with high HP targets tighter cluster
This - I think it can kinda suck in some situations but it's really effective at taking down Morgens in particular
I've had very mixed results with using it on Valkyries, though - they seem to fly around too much
can also help with passively dealing with extra spawner spawns in the distance or some archers
but for taking out a single low HP target... for that it sucks
especially Warriors, who tend to march right past them so that you have to kite them back into the roots' range
i think the conventional weapons are better for ashlands and use the buff and summon magic for support or not at all
a bit annoying how often still have to go out of my way to kill the summon afterwards lol
as I was saying yesterday here - it truly sucks that unlike the Mistlands, it's just not really feasible to play Ashlands solo as a mage
it can be viable but the way you play needs to comprimise for it
you get one new goodish weapon, two situational kinda-useful weapons, and one piece of crap that's worse than the Mistlands ones (looks disappointedly at Staff of Fracturing)
It's much slower, but being mage has worked out great for me. Mage in ashland is really good at staying alive, but until you get staff of wild damage output sucks...
and the new armor adds some Eitr regen (nice) but otherwise just does not provide enough defense for the biome
As long as you've got shield armor doesn't matter much.
still better to be able to tank at least 1 or 2 hits when it's not on
i would go with the non mage armor for ashlands
found out the hard way that you get 1 shot by angy dvergrs after you accidentally hit one with staff of wild...
the magic is cool sure but the melee plays nicer
I don't use magic because I die a lot more with it
^ basically this
I might try running a hybrid setup with Carapace armor (yes, yes, I'm still Flametal-poor) and like one Eitr food - there's just so dang many enemies at all times in Ashlands that the extra Defense matters a whole lot
i think the most important thing for ashlands is playing to any weakness
I've died in ashlands 2 times total. First time to big birb because ran out of stamina at a bad time. 2nd time got backstabbed by a dvergr
like the valkrie are asking to be sniped with the spinesnap
I've probably died 20+ times in Ashlands by now, in 20-30 hours of playing there
i think switching to the hi defence armor bring bonemass will help alot with that
I've run more Melee than Mage, and probably died more as Melee than as Mage as well
with Carapace armor, Mistwalker + Carapace shield, all 3 lingerings, Tasty and Major health meads on standby, Bonemass, and Fiery svinstew / Spicy marmalade / Fish and bread[or similar] (though I just got access to the best Ashlands foods so I can improve there going forward)
(* ETA: also Bonemass)
what's the most annoying thing about ashlands tho... is how hard it is to mass produce the new food that requires new plants other than vineberry. idk if I'm unlucky, but it takes so much damn effort to gather just a little bit of them
in terms of progression, I have all the new Mage stuff (though definitely not at max qualities yet), the new crafting station upgrades, and that's about it
next thing I'ma do, after raising Bows skill some more and maybe also Blocking, is definitely gonna be to finally go mine some Flametal ore veins - apparently if you learn the method (and it's not that hard), you can almost 100% mine them if done correctly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uxFxpTgaRg (not a plug, just a random YT vid I found that explained it, "The Best Way To Farm Flametal In Valheim Ashlands Update")
I really need to investigate what the chances are for Fiddleheads to spawn b/c I found a couple ruins chock full of them and others with losta ferns but with about zero Fiddlehead spawns
as for the Smoke puffs - I actually have found those to be super duper EZ to find
they're like Mushrooms, just mark them on your map whenever you find them and come back every 4 hours (that's how often they respawn, in the exact same places)
also check atop rock formations, they like to spawn up there - and when the rocks eventually get destroyed, they'll spawn in the exact same places just atop the ground below instead
it helps that they glow 24/7
but unlike mushrooms, you just can't ignore all the enemies around you and just run from mushroom to mushroom
ayup
the eternal problem: too da** many enemies in the Ashlands
(my solution: lay down campfires along well-travelled paths to protect them from enemy spawns - enemies WILL still wander in from very far away but it helps for foraging a lot, even if it is annoying to do and also Dumb because it's cheesing)
I think better solution for not making it too easy to get new plants, but not too time consuming would be adding specific locations where you can farm these plants but nowhere else, and also make enemies more likely to spawn around that location
why they decided to make all the new food recipes require foraging, but ALSO to make it impossible to W-key, is a great mystery
good looooord I so wish you could farm them
really really really really wanna be able to do that
like... maybe make the seeds hard to get (only available inside the chest in the Charred Fortress towers or something) but still possible at least, c'mon
or else what you said:
You know those areas of black soil in the Mistlands?
Where there's no natural Mist?
Have there be something kinda like that but less common - large but rather rare patches of fertile soil where the Ashlands-specific crops can only grow
yup
By direct projectile hit or from the vine attacks?
at least vineberry is really fun plant to farm
too late now, the biome's out
I've not had the greatest success with farming them yet, but they do take 3 hours and 20 minutes to respawn berries so maybe it's not surprising
plus I just haven't built a very large farm for them yet because that would require clearing space and I've honestly just found hella Vineberry ruins in the Ashlands
I shot myself in the foot by building the farms with ashwood, it's the only thing slowing down the expansion of my vineyard
but at least it looks good...
Deep North seems like the perfect place to introduce green house mechanics
lol
I have mine up and running just fine on the new Ashwood fancypants treslli-looking wall
The need to protect crops from the cold/biome and the fact that vineberries exist (crops that only need to be planted once)
fun fact about that
as I already found in the code and put on the wiki,
they've already added the ability for crops to resist "cold"
meaning if they don't, then they require a Shield generator to be active in order to grow in the Mountains or - you guessed it - the Deep North
(the opposite also exists - Vineberries resist heat so can be planted in the Ashlands without a Shield generator)
(the only Cold-resistant crop so far is... Fir trees.)
This is the design I went with. The rows have 4m spacing between them.https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1202267437647527977/1244377651565690953/image.png?ex=665c24bf&is=665ad33f&hm=df03bd8ba1a170bd1874ee5e47676154dec79f1dbf0bfba29f902dafda8497bd&
wait why it didn't link to the post here on discord...?
I suppose it makes sense but only needing the shield generator for farms in DN to work seem slightly underwhelming.
But it's probably also the simplest way rather than trying to implement a completely new mechanic
I still hope they do implement it
But between greenhouse mechanics and forever crops, I would be glad if we only get the latter
We MUST keep in mind that they haven't truly started work on that biome yet
so
things might well change between now and then
That's true
At this point I'm expecting there to be some kind of hazards or enemis that kind of force you to use the shield generator there as well
But it's kinda sad that they introduce some stuff but leave it in the files without any use in normal gameplay
remember that the Shield generator didn't exist before the Ashlands update - and thus you could grow Onions in the Mountains back then just fine
Like the iron ore, it's in there somewhere, and it's also smeltable, but can't be collected outside of devcommands
I think they probably need more balancing/performence fix for ashlands before they can actually work for DN.
oh ashland has better performance for me than Mistlands...
You can't grow onions in mountains now?
I didn't even know they could grow at all in mountains
the game's still in development - such is the nature of things
so a bit doubtful of getting any performance update for it when mistland still has that problem
mine is opposite lol
You used to be able to just plop them down
Now they no longer support that biome at all
is something wrong with the boars since Ashlands update? made a new world, to start over, and i captured a boar. and instead of chilling, hes desperately trying to get back to his spawnpoint, sprinting all over the place
wrongo
you get Iron ore from Fishing
Oh, so that does seem like the way to go.
Also, I thought shield only protected from cinder rains and rain, didn't know about the biome's hazard.
and I discovered today that you get Scrap Bronze from the Charred Fortresses
so that's no longer commands-only either
But, couldn't you still be cold while in mountain? I thought reading more than one people reporting that
Iron ore or scrap iron?
probably? IDK if it protects from status effects or not
I think it also protect projectile demage.
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Iron_ore
check it!
and Smiffe confirmed to me that that is intended behavior
Yeah but not like there are many ranged enemies that make you go "I need protection from this guys ASAP"
Well, it seems like they did give it a use after all...
see also: this is now obtainable, as I just mentioned: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Scrap_bronze
I'ma petition to get it some new artwork though b/c that's just the same sprite as Copper Scrap
quick questions guys.
how do i hide the ui again? to have that camera mode style
FUN FACT:
Each Charred Fortress has 78 bronze spike strips
Destroying them all (with e.g. a Battering ram) yields an average of 273 scrap bronze
I think it was Ctrl + F3?
okay okay
holy shit... now if only my battering ram learned to fly and not leave stuff floating
got it, thanks
This I did notice when assaulting fortresses, but it was added later. Early PTB didn't have it
the wall segments DO have support!
just knock out enough of the lower segments and it'll all come tumbling down~
or so it seems in the code, anyways
...please tell me it actually works that way...
Also TIL iron veins do exist, now if they only added them as hidden, underground deposits in the world
I destroyed the whole lower segment of a tower at the center and it just keeps floating
there's nothing left to hit
hm. I'll have to check on this further. thx
either way - technically Catapults also work, with the explosive charges
but like........ they also suck......... so
really hope they add a way to dismantle conquered forts more easily
I do not plan to repurpose all of them for an outpost
Only decent use I've got from catapults is they can destroy the inside spawners more safely
my thinking is to keep like one to maaaaaybe build inside, and the rest can go to crap lol
I use them for fast traveling in ashland. planning to make a fortress portal network
The only problem with that strategy is that you have 0 clue on whether you're hitting something or not. Even a visual explosion when a spawner is destroyed would be acceptable
only success with the catapult ive had was hitting the walls and nothing else
Also the grausten ammo is completely useless, it literally deals 20 blunt damage only...
I refuse to believe that is anything else other than a huge oversight
They must've intended to add another 0 but missed
sounds like a good idea for #suggestions 🤔
Who needs a catapul when you can just keep summing trolls to troll the fort
Considering it seems more like a bug and not a feature, I've refused to put it in suggestions
even better
If I do get confirmation that is intended (for some reason), I will suggest it
Explosive ammo deals +550 damage.
The fact that grausten deals only 20 is very, very wrong. I hope they notice. I posted it in #steam-bugs-discussion (despite not being exactly a bug)
20 damage for an Ashland build that requires flamemetal!???
Even the worse bolt on the cross bow does more, not even cross bow, wooden arrow does more then 20
Which is why I very strongly believe it's an oversight, it has to
Nah it's just a friendly warning shot 😂
Grausten is described as a porous rock
I imagine it’s not very heavy compared to stone or black marble and if it has the same weight as the explosive ammo it’s function is meant to be to be used to estimate the distance fired for accuracy @azure yacht
That still seems very underwhelming...
still makes zero sense for it to do 20 damage even with that
if they wanted to make test ammunition they couldve made one out of a cluster of resin
Also, grausten ammo reaches a higher range than explosive ammo so on that regard it doesn't perfectly works as a way to measure distance because it can be misleading.
Grausten ammo has 10-20% more range than explosive ammo
And it's also a lot more accurate
How common is resin in the Ashland’s biome?
On another note, I just discovered that stone portal has the exact same resistances as the wood portal.
I will assume that's an oversight as well
Stone is supposed to be weak to pickaxe damage, and yet hitting it with a pickaxe shows grey numbers
as if you dont have a large spare supply of resin by that point in the game
Please add guns
Considering the amount of time they spent on the Ashland’s biome I can’t imagine it wasn’t done on purpose
Plus having it go past the fortress with you knowing it goes further still indicates to you that that means the explosive payload will most likely hit inside
it still serves as a reference
Boars always did that, the first ones you tamed will keep trying to get back to their spawn. Put them close together in a pen so they breed, offspring won't run anymore. Kill running parents, peace restored.
Fair...
But still can't forgive the damage
It's definitely an oversight, I hope they fix it in the future
how many wisps spawn per night
How long for vineberry to bear fruit ?
3 .
They spawn multiple times a night in bunches of 1-3 to my experience
More than 3, but only 3 can be at the fountain at once so you need to pick them up to get more
how many do i need to collect in order to not have to worry about it again lol
Only need 1 really...
It depends on how many wisp torches you want to use
And if you have mistwalker sword...you will need to kidnap a few more
You don't need many right now because you can always take more
the wisp fountain is the only mistlands content ive experienced so far lol
Beat the queen build a boat and get to painland.
Every fountain can only have three wisps flying around max.
But you can just grab them as they appear
Will the dev buff the vineberry , seems it is very slow to have fruit.
You can just build several fountains as well
Because it's a bug
I'm hoping they release a new patch soon for vineberrys even though collecting them is easy to stock, I want to farm as well
thery have never patched in a new farmable that didnt land with the biome updates
hey guys, i've benn wondering, if someday i could play with you without saying nothing...i'll explain, i'm from Brazil and of course i can speak english, but i'm too shy to speak and i dont know if my english is good enough for you guys...so, ...
the people here dont play together this is just the official community managed by the company that made the game
sees a group in the voice channels that must be playing together
oh too bad...i thought this was one big server for all
yea but theres 32k people in here a few are bound to play together
I think valheim was supposed to be an mmo first?
theres a looking for group channel in here tho
i saw a guy on youtube who made a map to be MMO
this guy createsa all kinds of city possible
from small villages to whole big kingdons
yeah its toatly a cool project
doyou guys play with MODs? is it allowed here ?
who's the final boss now in this last update?
fader
i beated the queen but the last time i was on ashlands, there was nothing there
now i read that there is a fire forest and a fortress...
if you visited it before the biome wont load the new version
you will need a new world
i see
me and my friends are rushing to see the ashlands...
in the newly created map of course
so wisplight is the only thing i need to go into mistlands?
yag down, first try 😄
and hope not todying so fast
my friend said that the next update will be a sea biome or a sky biome...i doubt it
next update will add more build pieces or clothes
it will take long to come....this one came just now
Speculation.
Sky biome definitely won't be a thing, so ocean update is something we can hope for
it whould be great to have throwing axes...or mounts
yes i know but, thats is the late game...
Dunno, the yggdrasil tree is pretty up there, we will probably visit it
I suppose, people tend to claim here that plains biome is at the end of midgame though
i played a mod with throwing axes and its not the same thing
I gotta say the mounts are mediocre as hell anyways
"probably" is certainly wishful thinking
I highly doubt we will be visiting it tbh
Why doubt it
especially because we already have some tree roots in the mistlands
imagine you can tame a boar and use it on a cart to move
It's always visible
people have been begging loxes for being able to do that and honestly I am one of them
Basically teased for later
the dvergers already do it ingame, its unfair >:l
Can you get ashlands frog things to follow once tamed?
Nah
valheim is my new minecraft....hahahahaha
You know the story of the game, right?
We are to accomplish feats to get into valhalla
wasnt it directly the opposite? we were in valhalla and were taken out of it to slay the monsters in the prison realm of valheim
Climbing the world tree would be a feat
We're here to stop the Forsaken connecting Valheim to Yggdrassil.
being taken to valheim was neither a loving act, nor a punishment. it was a necessary, as odin's foes are your foes
No, that's pretty much it.
I don't see us reaching the world tree in this game outside of maybe an ending cutscene or something like that
When I read an item description it said I would have to slay more than this to get into valhalla
So I figured I'm on a journey to become worthy
Doesn't the game start with us being told we were a great warrior taken from the afterlife and were sent here to kill the fosaken? Its safe to assume we were in valhalla already
Did I miss something, are the "seaonal" items, now set on a "timer" and unlock automatically now on a certain day?
its 2 decorations, thats all but yeah
No, your in the 10th world, a "purgatory" having not proven yourself enough yet to join Valhalla I believe 🙂
Yup,, just didnt catch they unlock now, used to only release when patches came out 😉
nah we do know we were sent here because odin had to, not as a punishment
Uh, does the trollstav not actually level blood magic? Because I have been summoning trolls over and over near a charred spawner and the XP bar hasn't budged
no not a punishment, just to "prove your worth".
probably just something only Alpha people know, I think they changed the starting lore a bit 😉
used to say, "To prove that you are worthy of entering Valhalla, you hav been sent to Valheim, the 10th Norse world. Only by defating the mighty beats of these lands will you win the favor of the gods" 😉
ashland green pot is just a storage box in disguise or it can do something special ?
how do i know which mods are updated for this version of the game
it doesnt
same with staff of wild not actually levelling lightning magic
pretty stupid
if its the devs way of forcing the player to diversify, then its done pretty badly.
seems odd for sure, especially given how few things level blood magic in particular
Here's hoping it'll get changed in the future, like 20 damage grausten payload
"The mighty beats of these lands"
Rythm survival
There's a nordic rythm shoot (BPM), now valheim is the survival version
How do you even stay alive?, one or two charred warriors and the troll dies, he even struggles with a few of those twitchers
Why would it?
Nvm, I forgot that staff scales with elemental magic.
Actually, if it doesn't increase it, it's a glitch, not intended behavior
use the chat menu
I have a question again:
Will players of valheim from xbox gamepass will be able to join to a steam server?
Yes, if it has crossplay enabled
ty very much
it saays it crossplays.. there i an option in settings

was considering maybe playing with nomap, but there is two things I feel conflicted about. and one of them is that I might not touch the game for 1-2 week or maybe even more and then if I got lost the last time I played I am in the middle of nowhere with no recollection of how I got there or how to get back.
The other is that I usually mark crypts and stuff so that I know where they're at and if I cleared them cause I will forget that too.
and I am just wondering if it is it worth it? 😆
Do the swords do slash damage no matter what, or is their heavy attack considered peirce
On one hand no map runs add hours to a playthrough, on the other you have the risks you mentioned
😄
so it's up to you really
you could rename the game to "lost"
who?
snowfox..without the map showing where you ahve been it is just going to be go in circles and be lost
Sailing in circles and wasting time. like it should be
I feel like a really fun no-map run might involve
- a craftable (modded) in-game compass
- hand-drawn map
the world prettymuch looks the same
Thanks to your vikings incredible ability to always wake up at the exact timing, all you need to do is to snooze for the day and find where the sun is and that's East.
issues may arise at night 😆
you could use camp fires i suppose,, leave them on beaches etc
Did you think Vikings fling themselves into the unknown through the dark without modern navigation?
Just slash
i know nothing of actual history, but did vikings use the stars and constellations?
i don't think valheim's stars are robust enough to be used as such
There's the world tree which is always in the same location, as well as several constellations of stars you can use to navigate.
Which will most likely bring up the comment: "You can't see those when it's cloudy / storming".
To which I will reply: "No, you can't but in that case it's a better idea to dock your boat and wait things out".
Yeah, but can't see the North Star from the 10th Realm
this is not a viking game..no raping and plundering the innocent
Oh, world tree's always in the same spot. You can use that to navigate
osunds perfectly workable actually! i forgot about yggdrasil
Nor trading with other nations.....
yeah..it is a bad imitation
i think if you're looking for a historically-themed viking game, iron gate never intended this game to be that
I dunno, fulings are just trying to live life in their villages until we come plunder them
Dvergr too
gee ya think?
so it's unfair to call it a bad imitation
as that was never its goal in the first place
fulings cant be innocent with that cackle
No it isn't.
Because it's based upon Viking lore, not Viking lifestyle (according to Western - and very biased - scriptures)
no it is not.. this game is just more of the same
fulings are far from innocent--they need to be genocided
fulings are far from innocent--they need to be genocided
on the topic of realism, a feature i'd really love is the ability to start sailing a longship in reverse, which was one of their IRL strengths (taking advantage of the symmetrical design)
And what's your reasoning for smashing innocent drake eggs to bring a mother to tears and slaughter her before her children so you can harvest her tears?
You know, some say that when you tap into her power you can still hear her cries
wow you are choking me up.. i need to drink some grog to ease my conscience
To be fair, the drakes instigated conflict by attacking the vikings in the first place
It was merely an act of self-defense!
the only innocent are dverger but DONT piss them off
True, I wish we had the ability to trade with them to get the component
the mage can one shot you to valhalla
(I am aware of the cart workaround but it's jank)
Any creature having it's habitat invaded by an unknown creature would act the same.
I mean, even people check other people out the moment that person enters the same room as they are in.
Kinda like: "Does (s)he like my partner, is (s)he a potential thread to my relation with my partner, is (s)he a better sports(wo)man as I do.
I can't blame the drakes, nor the fullings to do the same thing about the player character.
is there a button to auto sort chests or like, put all the items in ur inventory that stack with the ones in ur chest
Noooo, my preferred way to interact with dvergr clans is to leave them peacefully behind and defend them if necessary
But you need the loot
stack button
Stack button doesn't sort things. It just fills up the stacks you already have in your chest to the maximum before it starts filling up a new slot.
it sorts from your inventory to the chest
Also, stack button doesn't work if there's nothing in the chest to start with.
be nice be kind be pleasant but have a plan to kill everyone you meet
i dont think an auto sort button would be feasible --what alphabetically?
Material wise would be better.
like wood by wood, bones, fangs etc together. Things like that
use different chest for different items.. swamp chset - wolf chest-wood chest etc
use the item stands and stick everything you need on to the side of a building
armor stands too
put by bed get + in rest points
idk how people get more than 5-10 chitin per kraken
by the time you mine 3 barnacles they are already sinking again
Luck, pickaxe skill and the pickaxe used all affect it
on the first hit he shakes, everytime, and by the time the 2nd barnacle is through he leaves
and you barely got time for a 3rd
Every hit has a chance to start the sinking so if you're lucky you can break a few before it starts sinking
ive got 300 hours and its never been anything more than 3 barnacles
Which pickaxe are you using?
on this run? only got antler so far, second boss isnt dead yet
Ever tried the iron pickaxe in another run?
obviously?
On the barnacles, I mean.
thats what we are talking about, yes
Because I followed a stream last week and the one in that used an iron pickaxe and mined 5-6 barnacles before the Leviathan started to sink.
it can be just luck, iirc there is a certain % that the leviathan will start sinking after each hit
yeah, 10% that they will will start sinking every time the barnacles are damaged https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Leviathan
10%, wiki uses values that were datamined for most things 🙂
If you leave the game before it finishes sinking it should stop, unless that was fixed
doubt that works on a server
not really necesseary imo, you can get all the chitin you might need from like 3-4 of them
110 chitin from 4?
it worked with lavaiathans on my friends server, so it probably should with these too
if you multiply that by 4 its not really far from the 110 😉 and it seems you are unfortunatelly victim of a bad rng
dvergr were banished to valheim for a reason
yes, thats 8 leviathans
i wonder what it is
oh two, sorry didnt read it properly
and thats being generous
but that is really very little, i ususally get more that 20 from one, sometimes even more than 30
I’ve managed to mine an entire lev without it sinking
ive done chitin farming on 4 different servers/saves and it was always the same
🤷♂️
If you're the only player nearby it will work
That was also with a black metal pick and high pick skill so I was one shotting the barnacles
is 18 the highest comfort now with maypole or am I missing something?
its 18
one of the guys on our server got the maypole recipe, hes the only one
Bm pick op needs nerf ;p
he doesnt know how he has it
your missing ingredients then.
do you play on different time zones by a chance?
I remember maypoles as being fixed spawns you gotta find
both in utc+2
Summer unlocks them
you can only build them during season
you can find them out of season but they are rare
from today they should be able to make 😉
they got the recipe 3 days ago
wth
and I didnt get it at all
check the wiki what you need for them or well, ask here
wood, dandelion, thistle
we have all that
wow, that all?
well ok its a stick thats pretty so i guess yes
yep, 10 wood, and 4 of dandelion and thistle each
I remember maypoles only being a thing to be found, determining the base location if one is found
That was very early though. Iirc the recipe and season thing was from after hearth and home?
you were able to make them for quite a long time
at least last year, and i would bet even longer
My memory stands with you on that lol
seems they were added in june 2021 🙂
now I feel old
same, but thats because i have a memory of an 70 yeard old XD
To many new things learned to retain that
i have played since march 2021 and forgot most of it 😄
I jumped in the year it dropped (whatever year that was ;p ) around February
yeah 2021 😉
Hah ty
bro
You enjoying Ashland's Asatru!?
I just said I give up and wanted to go home, and the game throws 3 krakens at the same spot at me
Time to work lol
oh yes, i enjoyed them quite a bit 😄 i was playing the ptb and as they dropped to live branch i made a new world, i am not in them yet on it tho
i once found 5 in a line next to each other
my biggest catch yet
Awesome. I just got back in world last night. Made a fresh toon and jumped in Germs world. Looking forward to making it south
3+ in one area is pretty darn rare
the least the game can do to compensate for 2 hours of none
2/3 gone, made 25 chitin
total of 5 krakens across 3 hours for 81 chitin
its more common than finding zero cores in a dungeon
which unfortunately isn't as rare as it should be
doesnt the abyssal razor suck tho>
you get chitin for the harpoon
yea you only need 30 for that
1-2 levi should give enough for the harpoon, dunno why you would bother getting more than that unless you wanted a backup harpoon
It's iron-tier and there's no iron knife
guys
i ran past plains into swamp and died
now i cant get past plains without my stuff
yea but who uses knives?
not with that attitude
just run and dont look back
mosquito
A lot of people...
they cant hit you at full sprint
i dont have stamina
eat food?
or simply walk, and only dodge when they come after you
squitos are glass cannons. block the attack with a shield and hit em back. should die fairly easily
he died hes need to run to his corpse
ohh well that certainly makes things harder
just needs to eat a belly full of food and run past them
you don't even need to be full, just grab a cloudberry should give you plenty
may as well be full you ideally wont want to stop running til you hit the swamp
been having the same trouble with mistlands. just landed there and got destroyed by a seeker and some sort of morrowind style silt strider looking thing
atleast it wasnt a gjall
Silt strider was a gjall. If you hear a foghorn, you know one is close.||They can spawn additional enemies, ticks, along with shoot fireballs from range.|| They can be a pain
ahh that's what it's called. yeah that's what i mean lol. i was trying to fight off the seeker and it kept spitting stuff at me
they are notorious for camping where they killed you
theres a scummy trick you can use with a portal, pre build a portal within running distance of your corpse, run as close to your corpse and throw down a portal as fast as you can then kite the mobs towards the first portal walk through and boom you come out next to your corpse and the mobs are gone
its handy for those situations where even if you manage to grab your loot you are likely to die before getting it equiped
i lured a soldier bug to a troll and it killed that poor blue devil np
even with me spearing the bug in the azz! lol
time to wage war then bring two tame wolves build a breeding box that drops the pups out outside the mating range wait til they become a army then release them
does it matter to stop at 1 stamina or go to 0?
what is max comfort now?
i have 14 = 21 minutes
18
i have 18 as well
Ever since I asked that question about nomap earlier I have been thinking about snow patrol - chasing cars in my head , but its Chasing karves instead.
level 5 forge? how
Reg forge or black forge?
Requires ashlands materials for 2 upgrades
sorry mate, we dont understand yyou
think you gotta stick to english, man
The Maypole and Christmas tree cannot currently be crafted, but can very occasionally be found in abandoned villages on certain worlds. Building your base around them is the only way to benefit from its comfort bonus. Technically this would make your maximum comfort level 19, giving you 26 Rested minutes.
maypole can be crafted now tho
this is an old post evidently
then why do you post it here when you know its old info 😅
its been reenabled within the last 7 days, I got the recipes when I logged on today
i cant seem to get it over 14..the chair stool etc makes no +
if you want you can look at all the thing adding comfort here 🙂 https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Comfort
i did -have the raven bed and tables hearth etc but somehow the small stuff wont add
stool chair dont make a dif
only one chair and one bench work
do benches and chairs not stack anymore?
also dumb that carpets dont stack anymore
hi anyone encountered a problem like this?
I can join other players game but whenever I try to start one the game crashes
Not really dumb. They were never supposed to.
did anyone else have their online game crash?
wondering if it's on my host's end or if it's a steam thing
Disconnecting happens quite often
nvm it was on the host's end
Tbh the respawn rate in Ashlands is so bad, I can't tell if its a bug or a feature !
The respawn rate is the same as every other biome.
Absolutely not, it feels like im perpetually stuck in combat.
the Аshenlands are a very bugged biome. 6 fps 4070 video card. The boss is not visible behind the special effects
That's not because of the spawnrate but because of the higher amount of spawnpoints
6 Askvins, 10 skeletons with one 2 star variant, valkyrie, dvergrs with stars also morgen and suicide bomber blobs in one small area
ashlands seemed to come out way faster than expected after mistlands.. maybe they rushed it a bit?
Testing it in the PTB took longer as it took for Mistlands.
So, no.
Whatever it is, after 3 days of grinding , it feel very tedious, I tested this and looked at the clock, and I can't have a single minute of exploring the area , or just look at the biome, bc I have to fight something !And when I go back to my camp they spawn again.
what is the range on the maypole?
i think it should🤔 but i didnt test it in any way so i could be wrong
anyone want to start a new vanilla playthrough?
10m
Lower difficulty settings to easy till you start a proper base in one of the forts
couldnt figure either asatru
I can't , I play on a server .And besides I don't think the combat is too difficult or anything overly sophisticated , it just that it never ends. It's like a neverending greydwarf raid XD
How long is Midsummer?
How do weapon skills affect the game? more damage?
Yes, decreases stamina costs to swing as well i believe, and in the case of bows it decreases draw time
Is there a list of all items that add comfort?
Need to know what to put in my bedroom
3y ago
I tested out a bunch of the skills at max level on a offline character using cheats, and level 100 (max) sprint runs insanely fast with little stamina drain. Max jump allows you to jump about 3x characters height. Max sword level doubles damage of your sword attack and reduces stamina drain when swinging. I imagine other weapon skills boost the same. I wish it would give detailed reports but these are some things to look forward to
redit
It’s on the wiki?
Yeah on the comfort wiki
this according to a reddit post
Oh well that’s just a bad source of information isnt it
losing 5% across all skills at death..trouble breaking 30
Yeah me too lol
Although to be fair I don't usually die unless I'm trying to establish a beachhead in a new zone
got up one morning, forget to eat .. ran and jumped off a ladder.. died
Once I'm in with amenities it goes much smoother

A very useful list of what works out best in which biome.
guys i need advice
i keep having greydwarfs spawn inside my farming fields and now iv lost hundreds of crops including all of my onions how the hell do i prevent this
get some wolves
surround it with walls and workbenches
wolves keep those bastards from destroying the boat
Torches do spawn prevention as well.
Can build them inside a 1m log, making them kinda indestructible.
i cant get any wolves yet but il try the torches
To protect them build the 1m standing wooden beam with the snap point set to top so it's level with the ground.
Build the torch on top of that, then select the 1m wooden beam again and make sure it snaps to the one in the ground.
By doing so, it will get partially over the torch, making it hard for monsters to destroy the torches.
is there a command to swtich to immersive mode
You can do that with the modifiers even when the game's already started.
Simply log out, select your world, adjust the modifiers and enter your world.
i need to do it on a dedicated server
In that case, better ask in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202550119191412736
Drain the tar
how
I swear the game detects when you are low on stamina and sends mobs
Use a pickaxe
Is there any reason to not drain tar pits? Are they an infinite source of tar if you leave them?
No, the tar items do not respawn
How about the mobs, do they stop spawning if you drain it?
Ah nope, 2 growths will respawn even if it's drained. Ok
So I'll drain this and keep harvesting the growths as they come
Harvesting growths gets tar very slow, it’s best to find new tar pits
If you drain it then you can't lure enemies into the tar pit to follow them up with staff of embers
Is it worth taming animals? I'm guessing yes for lox but what about the others
I guess specifically boar and wolves since those are lower tier
Tames boars are a good source of food in two biomes.
Wolves are a good source of pelts, meat and will be great guardians for some time.
I'm in the plains now though, is it still worth getting them? Boar I'm guessing not since those only seem good for their meat and I have much better food options now
They're nice to have roaming around your base or farm
Wolves idk, they can be used to guard things I guess?
How effective are they really for the plains
You can use boar meat to feed your wolves
Depends on how many you have 😆
They're still pretty strong when dealing with Fullings.
It's after plains they become really useless as guardians; but by then you get another thing to defend your base. Or to kill you, depending at how you set it. 😄
What's the best way to get your first cirtling cores I have full leather lv3 flint axe and a bow and skeleton sheild
I guess since I still get the "you are being hunted" event I can get free wolves delivered to me
Can I feed them lox meat? Or should I get boars to do that
Also can the event wolves spawn as starred variants?
Only boar and dear meat for them.
Which is why tamed boars might be still useful.
And "no", wolves from the Hunted event don't spawn with stars, afaik.
The crypt things in the black forest
Yeah guess I'll have to...how do I transport animals then? I'm in the plains
guys can anything build on top of the ashlands lava (pls spoiler the answer for ppl who dont wanna know)
Yeh I know where but I struggled with clearing one
Well that's what ya gotta do
Get in there with a club and go off
Is club better then flint axe?
Wolves can swim behind your boat, as long as you order them to follow you.
Boars need to be transported on top of your boat; which will be tricky. You might try to drag them with the Abysmal Harpoon, but that will cost a lot of stamina.
Like say I see a 2 star boar or wolf somewhere... how do I capture, tame, and get it to my relatively isolated base
do tree sapplings need a certain amount of space to grow or is it possible for them to grow right next to eachother
For killing skeletons, yes by a lot
They need space
Club is a lot better to deal with skellies as an axe, bow or sword because of the damage it does and the resistance the skellies have against pierce and slash damage.
I guess I'll try to find a connected meadows area but that'll be tough
Slash isn't bad, skellies aren't resistant to it. But blunt is better because they're weak to it
Ok thx
I think there is a mountain close enough for me to try to get some wolves
I'm guessing wolves don't need a pen but the boars and lox should
Wolves should be roaming around, but how do you set up their feeding/breeding stuff
Look for Hildir's location.
It's meadows and close to the plains.
Might be useful to set up a portal there, create a small farm and use that to breed boars for meat.
I'd rather have them at my actual base tho
I don't want to portal food back and forth
I'd rather have wolves, lox, and boar all at my primary base location
How do the stars work with breeding?
Do I need both to be 2 star or just one?
One starred and one "normal" one will be enough.
As soon as you got a starred offspring, kill the normal one and the starred will only give starred animals after that.
ah i see, ok thanks
so the starred has to get preggo, if the unstarred one does i need to wait
Aye.
How come sometimes the silver veins explode in one hit, and other times not?
Depends on if it's properly disconnected from the ground or not
even if it looks like its floating the game might still consider it connected
I usually mine it out completely
Weird... I seem to have lost my catapult recipe.
that hitbox is a mess
So I should try to dig out more around it?
As Snail said, sometimes the game is finicky about deciding if veins are connected or not. I try to have a 1-2m gap all around my vein.
Around and below*
Does that work for copper also?
Copper is usually harder to pop in my experience since it tends to run deeper.
I still try to dig it out, just to make sure I get as much as I can.
usually most of the copper is below ground, aye
Do you need to be near the pigs for them to mate?
Eh it's not too bad imo. Copper is the only one that's terrible
I've had a couple silver that refused to pop because of the shape of the mountain not letting me dig deep enough below them, but they're definitely the exception to the rule. But yeah, screw copper lol.
fortunately silver isnt a mat you need a lot of
True. My server is just 2 of us, and we only needed 4 veins between us and came out with a few spare stacks in this playthrough.
iron on the other hand...
is there any advantage to cobblestone walkways?
If you think you have enough iron: you don't lol
Just seems cosmetic to me. Looks nice in courtyards at base
playing without megingjord is a nightmare
That was one of the things that made me dislike Mistlands lol.
fortunately mistlands doesnt have you hauling large amounts of ore
spazzy recommends frostner for mistlands do you guys concur
making a good looking base takes so many damn resources
until you get something better
whats the best way to get lots of stone
breaking the rock needles in the plains
during my yuglith fight it was just raining stone non stop
alternatively you can dismantle the stone towers in the black forest
I used Frostner going into Mistlands until I upgraded, it was pretty solid for cc'ing mobs.
when should i stop using scaley shield
frostner is a broken weapon when you first get it
thats not a bad idea...
uhm, how willing are you to skill check your enemy? you kinda want to parry mobs a alot and scale shield cant
whats the deal with these flamental ore clumps. i swear i just saw one and now its no there but the bird is sat perched mid air...
Block force/armor goes over my head, but a lot of enemies in Mistlands are pierce damage so idk when / if it's worth upgrading.
Personally half the time I just hop onto a 3x world fill some chests and do some world hopping if I’m bringing it back to a single player world. Or I’ll turn my world to 3x for a bit but I like the hopping since it cuts out the transport time
Did you mine it at all? They sink like Leviathans.
nah i got about 20 off it
Then it sank
